The unstable N=42 nucleus $^{72}$Zn has been studied using multiple safe Coulomb excitation in inverse kinematics. The experiment was performed at the REX-ISOLDE facility at CERN making first use of the silicon detector array C-REX in combination with the γ-ray spectrometer Miniball. The high angular coverage of C-REX allowed to determine the reduced transition strengths for the decay of the yrast 01+, 21+ and 41+ as well as of the 02+ and 22+ states in $^{72}$Zn. The quadrupole moments of the 21+, 41+ and 22+ states were extracted. Using model independent quadrupole invariants, the ground state of $^{72}$Zn was found to have an average deformation in the γ degree of freedom close to maximum triaxiality. In comparison to experimental data in zinc isotopes with N<40, the collectivity of the 41+ state in neutron-rich $^{72}$Zn is significantly larger, indicating a collective yrast band based on the ground state of $^{72}$Zn. In contrast, a low experimental B(E2;02+→21+) strength was determined, indicating a different structure for the 02+ state. Shell-model calculations propose a 02+ state featuring a larger fraction of the (spherical) N=40 closed-shell configuration in its wave function than for the 01+ ground state.The results were also compared with beyond mean field calculations which corroborate the large deformation in the γ degree of freedom, while pointing to a more deformed 02+ state. These experimental and theoretical findings establish the importance of the γ degree of freedom in the ground state of $^{72}$Zn, located between the $^{68,70}$Ni nuclei that have spherical ground states, and $^{76}$Ge, which has a rigid triaxial shape.

The internal transition decay and α decay of the $T_{1/2} = 53.3$ ms, $9/2^-$ isomeric state in the neutron-deficient isotope, $^{183}$Tl, have been studied using the Resonance Ionization Laser Ion Source and the Windmill detection setup at the ISOLDE facility at CERN. Clean samples of $^{183}$Tl were produced by selective laser ionization and subsequent mass separation. An internal transition cascade of 356.5–272.2 keV $\gamma$ rays has been identified. Multipolarities of these transitions have been determined by means of simultaneous $\gamma$-ray and conversion-electron spectroscopy. Improved data for the fine structure of the $^{183}$Tl → $^{179}$Au decay were deduced. This involves a 6058 keV $\alpha$-decay transition, which populates a previously unknown state in $^{179}$Au, that is tentatively assigned as a ($9/2^-$). It is interpreted as a coupling of the $1h_{9/2}$ proton-intruder with the excited $0^+$ state in the 178Pt core.

The hyperfine spectra of Mn-51,Mn-53-64 were measured in two experimental runs using collinear laser spectroscopy at ISOLDE, CERN. Laser spectroscopy was performed on the atomic 3d(5) 4s(2) S-6(5/2) -> 3d(5) 4s4p P-6(3/2) and ionic 3d(5) 4s S-5(2) -> 3d(5) 4p P-5(3) transitions, yielding two sets of isotope shifts. The mass and field shift factors for both transitions have been calculated in the multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock framework and were combined with a King plot analysis in order to obtain a consistent set of mean-square charge radii which, together with earlier work on neutron-deficient Mn, allow the study of nuclear structure changes from N = 25 across N = 28 up to N = 39. A clear development of deformation is observed towards N = 40, confirming the conclusions of the nuclear moments studies. From a Monte Carlo shell-model study of the shape in the Mn isotopic chain, it is suggested that the observed development of deformation is not only due to an increase in static prolate deformation but also due to shape fluctuations and triaxiality. The changes in mean-square charge radii are well reproduced using the Duflo-Zuker formula except in the case of large deformation.

A new β-decaying state in Bi214 has been identified at the ISOLDE Decay Station at the CERN-ISOLDE facility. A preferred Iπ=(8-) assignment was suggested for this state based on the β-decay feeding pattern to levels in Po214 and shell-model calculations. The half-life of the Iπ=(8-) state was deduced to be T1/2=9.39(10) min. The deexcitation of the levels populated in Po214 by the β decay of this state was investigated via γ-γ coincidences and a number of new levels and transitions was identified. Shell-model calculations for excited states in Bi214 and Po214 were performed using two different effective interactions: the H208 and the modified Kuo-Herling particle interaction. Both calculations agree on the interpretation of the new β-decaying state as an Iπ=8- isomer and allow for tentative assignment of shell-model states to several high-spin states in Po214.

The decay of the neutron-rich and was investigated experimentally in order to provide new insights into the nuclear structure of the tin isotopes with magic proton number above the shell. The -delayed -ray spectroscopy measurement was performed at the ISOLDE facility at CERN, where indium isotopes were selectively laser-ionized and on-line mass separated. Three -decay branches of were established, two of which were observed for the first time. Population of neutron-unbound states decaying via rays was identified in the two daughter nuclei of and , at excitation energies exceeding the neutron separation energy by 1 MeV. The -delayed one- and two-neutron emission branching ratios of were determined and compared with theoretical calculations. The -delayed one-neutron decay was observed to be dominant -decay branch of even though the Gamow-Teller resonance is located substantially above the two-neutron separation energy of . Transitions following the decay of are reported for the first time, including rays tentatively attributed to . In total, six new levels were identified in on the basis of the coincidences observed in the and decays. A transition that might be a candidate for deexciting the missing neutron single-particle state in was observed in both decays and its assignment is discussed. Experimental level schemes of and are compared with shell-model predictions. Using the fast timing technique, half-lives of the , and levels in were determined. From the lifetime of the state measured for the first time, an unexpectedly large transition strength was deduced, which is not reproduced by the shell-model calculations.

The mean-square charge radii of $^{207,208}$Hg ($Z=80, N=127,128$) have been studied for the first time and those of $^{202,203,206}$Hg ($N=122,123,126$) remeasured by the application of in-source resonance-ionization laser spectroscopy at ISOLDE (CERN). The characteristic \textit{kink} in the charge radii at the $N=126$ neutron shell closure has been revealed, providing the first information on its behavior below the $Z=82$ proton shell closure. A theoretical analysis has been performed within relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov and non-relativistic Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov approaches, considering both the new mercury results and existing lead data. Contrary to previous interpretations, it is demonstrated that both the kink at $N=126$ and the odd-even staggering (OES) in its vicinity can be described predominately at the mean-field level, and that pairing does not need to play a crucial role in their origin. A study of the laser-ionized and mass-separated neutron-deficient isotopes $^{176,177,179}$Au was performed using the Resonance Ionization Laser Ion Source and the Windmill detection setup at ISOLDE, CERN. New and improved data on complex fine-structure α decays of the three isotopes were deduced, providing insight into the low-lying levels in the daughter nuclei $^{172,173,175}$Ir. New information on the properties of β-decay daughter products $^{177,179}$Pt was also obtained. From the first in-source laser spectroscopy measurements of the hyperfine structure in the atomic 267.6-nm transition of 176Au, the nuclear magnetic moments for both high- and low-spin α-decaying states were deduced. Together with the values determined from the additivity relations, they were used to propose the most probable spins and configurations for both states. The α-decay branching ratios were determined as $b_{\alpha}$ $\left (^{176}\textrm{Au}^{ls}\right)=58(5)$% and $b_{\alpha}$ $(^{176} \textrm{Au}^{hs})=29(5)$%.

The structure of the doubly magic Sn8250132 has been investigated at the ISOLDE facility at CERN, populated both by the β-decay of In132 and β - delayed neutron emission of In133. The level scheme of Sn132 is greatly expanded with the addition of 68 γ transitions and 17 levels observed for the first time in the β decay. The information on the excited structure is completed by new γ transitions and states populated in the β-n decay of In133. Improved delayed neutron emission probabilities are obtained both for In132 and In133. Level lifetimes are measured via the advanced time-delayed βγγ(t) fast-timing method. An interpretation of the level structure is given based on the experimental findings and the particle-hole configurations arising from core excitations both from the N = 82 and Z = 50 shells, leading to positive- and negative-parity particle-hole multiplets. The experimental information provides new data to challenge the theoretical description of Sn132.

Separate fractions of middle mass molecules (MMM) from different biological fluids are involved in the pathogenetic constructions of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), depend on clinical, laboratory, X-ray and sonographic signs of the disease, can be used to predict the course of the pathological process, monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic measures and develop new medical treatment technologies. MMM are predictive components of the course of RA. The role of molecules of high and low molecular mass in the pathogenetic structures of the disease is known, and the significance of MMM of different fractions requires clarification.

International audience; $β$-delayed fission ($β$DF) decay of a low-spin (ls) and a high-spin (hs) isomer in $^{188}$Bi was studied at the ISOLDE facility at CERN. Isomer-selective laser ionization and time gating were employed to investigate each isomer separately and their $β$DF partial half-lives were determined: $T_{1/2\mathrm{p},β\mathrm{DF}} (^{188}\mathrm{Bi^{ls}})=5.6(8)×10^3$ s and $T_{1/2\mathrm{p},β\mathrm{DF}} (^{188}\mathrm{Bi^{hs}})=1.7(6)×10^3$ s. This work is the first βDF study of two states in one isotope and allows the spin dependence of low-energy fission to be explored. The fission fragment mass distribution of a daughter nuclide $^{188}$Pb, following the $β$ decay of the high-spin isomer, was deduced and indicates a mixture of symmetric and asymmetric fission modes. Experimental results were compared with self-consistent mean-field calculations based on the finite-range Gogny D1M interaction. To reproduce the measured $T_{1/2\mathrm{p},β\mathrm{DF}} (^{188}\mathrm{Bi^{hs}})$, the calculated fission barrier of $^{188}$Pb had to be reduced by ≈30%. After this reduction, the measured $T_{1/2\mathrm{p},β\mathrm{DF}} (^{188}\mathrm{Bi^{ls}})$ was in agreement with calculations for a few possible configurations for $^{188}\mathrm{Bi^{ls}}$. Theoretical $β$DF probabilities for these configurations were found to be lower by a factor of 4–9 than the $β$DF probability of $^{188}\mathrm{Bi^{hs}}$. The fission fragment mass distribution of $^{188}$Pb was compared to the scission-point model SPY and the calculations based on the finite-range liquid-drop model. The first observation of $β$DF for $^{190}$Bi is also reported.

Objective. To study and improve the results of surgical treatment of children with hepatoblastoma.Materials and methods. The experience of surgical treatment of 90 children with hepatoblastoma is presented: 81 patients who underwent liver resection,and in 9 cases with a nonresectable hepatoblastoma a living-donor liver transplantation was performed.Results. More severe postoperative complications (from ІІІ-b to V degree according to Dindo–Clavien) were observed in the resection group of patients. Postoperative mortality after liver resection was 5% (n=4), and there were no lethal cases after liver transplantation. The 5-year relapse-free survival rate in the transplant group was 69.2% versus 62.5% in the resection group, and the overall survival rate was 75% versus 71%, respectively.Conclusions. Resection and transplantation technologies are effective methods of surgical treatment of hepatoblastoma in children, and in combination with chemotherapy, they can produce a good long-term results. The immediate and long-term results after liver transplantation are better than after liver resection, even though transplantation group patients have a larger tumor lesion in the liver. Liver transplantation is a good treatment option for children with unresectable hepatoblastoma., Цель: исследовать и улучшить результаты хирургического лечения детей с гепатобластомой.Материалы и методы. Проведено хирургическое лечение 90 детей с гепатобластомой: 81 пациенту выполнена резекция печени, а 9 детям с нерезектабельной формой гепатобластомы выполнена трансплантация части печени от живого семейного донора.Результаты. Более тяжелые послеоперационные осложнения (от ІІІ-b до V степени по Dindo–Clavien) наблюдались в резекционной группе пациентов. Послеоперационная летальность после резекции печени составила 5% (n=4), а после трансплантации печени летальных случаев не было. 5-летняя безрецидивная выживаемость в трансплантационной группе составила 69,2% против 62,5% в резекционной группе, а общая выживаемость – 75% против 71% соответственно.Выводы. Резекционные и трансплантационные технологии являются эффективными методами хирургического лечения гепатобластомы у детей и в сочетании с химиотерапией позволяют получить хороший долгосрочный результат. Ближайшие и отдаленные результаты после трансплантации печени лучше, чем после резекции печени, даже несмотря на больший объем опухолевого поражения печени у пациентов трансплантационной группы. Трансплантація печінки є єдиним ефективним методом хірургічного лікування у дітей з нерезектабельною гепатобластомою.

Hyperfine-structure parameters and isotope shifts for the 795-nm atomic transitions in At217,218,219 have been measured at CERN-ISOLDE, using the in-source resonance-ionization spectroscopy technique. Magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole moments, and changes in the nuclear mean-square charge radii, have been deduced. A large inverse odd-even staggering in radii, which may be associated with the presence of octupole collectivity, has been observed. Namely, the radius of the odd-odd isotope At218 has been found to be larger than the average of its even-N neighbors, At217,219. Introduction. Lung cancer (LС) is the most common cause of the so-called paraneoplastic syndrome (PNPS) development, caused by the complex immunoinflammatory, degenerative and vascular distant changes. The risk of LC development is increased in patients with gout which proves the connection between violations of purine metabolism and carcinogenesis. Paraneoplastic (neoplastic) gout is one of the relatively frequent manifestations of LC, but such a relationship of the diseases requires further study.The objective of the study: to compare the clinical and laboratory course of primary gout and disease in the LC patients compared with the tumor process clinical course in the other signs of PNPS presence and to identify risk factors.Materials and methods. 113 patients with gout (97 men and 16 women aged 33 to 79 years) were observed. They were divided into two groups: the first group consisted of 54 patients with primary gout and the second group consisted of 59 patients with paraneoplastic variant of LC. Whereas in the 1st group the ratio of men and women was 26:1, in the 2nd – only 3: 1, and the average age was 50 and 59 years, respectively. The clinical course of gout and tumor process in the 2nd (main) group was compared with that in 199 LC patients with PNPS (comparison group), which was diagnosed in 15.5 % of LC observations. Purine metabolism was assessed by blood levels of uric acid and oxypurinol, their renal clearance, serum activity of xanthine oxidase, xanthine deaminase, adenosine deaminase, and 5-nucleotidase.Results. Paraneoplastic (neoplastic) gout develops in 3.5 % of the LC patients and in 22.9 % of those with PNPS. It differs from the primary (idiopathic) gout by the greater frequency of the disease development in women, the hand joints involvement and the metabolic type of hyperuricemia, but less often observed urolithiasis, peripheral tophi, chronic form of arthritis and the absence of renal type of purine metabolism impairment. Patients with tumorous gout differ from other LC patients with PNPS by the absence of bilateral and median lobe localization of the lung process, but relatively frequent occurrence of Pancoast tumor, high levels of uric acid and xanthine oxidase in the blood. The development of paraneoplastic gout depends on the clinical course of the LC (tumor invasion into the thoracic wall and pericardium, the number of distant organs metastasis) and the power of chemotherapy, the use of alkylating antineoplastic agents and alkaloids. Treatment-associated myelodepression, radiation pneumofibrosis and acute thrombophlebitis development depends on paraneoplastic gout. The presence of gout does not worsen the survival of LC patients with PNPS. LC patients with hyperuricemia (> 420 μmol / l in men and > 360 μmol / L in women) should be prescribed with xanthine oxidase inhibitor - allopurinol in the complex of therapeutic measures.Conclusions. Paraneoplastic gout is a frequent PNPS manifestation in LC, its course has peculiarities compared with the primary gout and is closely related to the tumor process character and the power of chemotherapy, it can determine the complications development in the course of therapeutic interventions. The data presented in the study require further comparative analysis of the other signs of PNPS, comparison of tumor and idiopathic variants of the musculoskeletal system lesion, cutaneous vasculitis and autoimmune systemic syndromes, which might assist in developing of the additional prognostic criteria for the tumor process clinical course, increasing the efficiency of therapy and its control quality., Рак легкого (РЛ) – наиболее частая причина развития так называемого паранеопластического синдрома (ПНПС), обусловленного сложными иммуновоспалительными, дегенеративными и сосудистыми дистантными изменениями. У больных подагрой увеличен риск развития РЛ, чем доказывается связь нарушений пуринового обмена и канцерогенеза. Паранеопластическая (неоплазменная) подагра – одно из относительно частых проявлений РЛ, но такие взаимоотношения заболеваний требуют дальнейшего изучения.Цель работы – сравнить клинико-лабораторные особенности течения первичной подагры и заболевания у больных РЛ, которое, в свою очередь, сопоставить с течением опухолевого процесса при наличии других признаков ПНПС, выделить факторы риска.Материалы и методы. Под наблюдением находились 113 больных подагрой (97 мужчин и 16 женщин в возрасте от 33 до 79 лет), которых поделили на две группы: 1 – 54 пациента с первичной подагрой, 2 – 59 с паранеопластическим вариантом заболевания при РЛ. В 1 группе соотношение мужчин и женщин составило 26:1, во 2 – только 3:1, средний возраст – 50 и 59 лет соответственно. Клиническое течение подагры и опухолевого процесса во 2 (основной) группе сопоставили с таковым у 199 больных РЛ с наличием ПНПС (группа сравнения), который в целом констатирован в 15,5 % наблюдений РЛ. Пуриновый обмен оценивали по уровням в крови мочевой кислоты, оксипуринола, их почечным клиренсам, активности в сыворотке ксантиноксидазы, ксантиндезаминазы, аденозиндезаминазы и 5-нуклеотидазы.Результаты. Паранеопластическая (неоплазменная) подагра развивается у 3,5 % от общего числа больных РЛ и у 22,9 % от числа с ПНПС. Она отличается от первичной (идиопатической) большей частотой развития болезни у женщин, вовлечения в процесс суставов рук и метаболического типа гиперурикемии, но реже диагностируемыми уролитиазом, периферическими тофусами, хронической формой артрита и отсутствием почечного типа нарушений пуринового обмена. Пациенты с опухолевой подагрой отличаются от остальных больных РЛ с ПНПС отсутствием двустороннего легочного процесса и среднедолевой его локализации, но относительно частым возникновением верхушечного рака Панкоста–Тобиаса, большими уровнями в крови мочевой кислоты и ксантиноксидазы.Развитие паранеопластической подагры зависит от течения РЛ (прорастания опухоли в грудную стенку и перикард, числа групп метастазов в отдаленных органах) и мощности химиотерапии, использования алкилантов и алкалоидов барвинка. От паранеопластической подагры зависит появление на фоне лечения миелодепрессии, лучевого пневмофиброза и острого тромбофлебита. Наличие подагры не ухудшает выживаемость больных РЛ с ПНПС. Больным РЛ, протекающим с гиперурикемией (>420 мкмоль/л у мужчин и >360 мкмоль/л у женщин), рекомендуется назначение в комплексе лечебных мероприятий ингибитора ксантиноксидазы аллопуринола.Выводы. Паранеопластическая подагра является частым проявлением ПНПС при РЛ, течение ее имеет свои особенности при сопоставлении с первичной подагрой и тесно связано з характером опухолевого процесса и мощностью химиотерапии, может определять развитие осложнений в процессе проводимых лечебных мероприятий. Представленные в работе сведения требуют дальнейшего сравнительного анализа других признаков ПНПС, сопоставления опухолевых и идиопатических вариантов патологии опорно-двигательного аппарата, кожных васкулитов и аутоиммунных системных синдромов, что, возможно, позволит разработать дополнительные прогностические критерии течения опухолевого процесса, повысит эффективность лечебных мероприятий и качество их контроля., Рак легень (РЛ) – набільш часта причина розвитку так званого паранеопластичного синдрому (ПНПС), зумовленого складними імунозапальними, дегенеративними й судинними дистантними змінами. У хворих на подагру збільшений ризик розвитку РЛ, що доводить зв’язок порушень пуринового обміну та канцерогенезу. Паранеопластична (неоплазменна) подагра – один із відносно частих проявів РЛ, але такі зв’язки захворювань потребують надалі вивчення.Мета роботи – порівняти клініко-лабораторні особливості перебігу первинної подагри та захворювання у хворих на РЛ, яке, своєю чергою, зіставити з перебігом пухлинного процесу за наявності інших ознак ПНПС, виділити фактори ризику.Матеріали та методи. Під спостереженням перебували 113 хворих на подагру (97 чоловіків і 16 жінок віком від 33 до 79 років), яких поділили на дві групи: 1 – 54 пацієнти з первинною подагрою, 2 – 59 з паранеопластичним варіантом захворювання при РЛ. У 1 групі співвідношення чоловіків і жінок становило 26:1, у 2 – тільки 3:1, середній вік – 50 і 59 років відповідно. Клінічний перебіг подагри і пухлинного процесу в 2 (основній) групі зіставили з таким у 199 хворих на РЛ із наявністю ПНПС (група порівняння), який загалом констатували у 15,5 % спостережень РЛ. Пуриновий обмін оцінювали за рівнями у крові сечової кислоти, оксипуринолу, їхнім нирковим кліренсам, активністю в сироватці ксантиноксидази, ксантиндезамінази, аденозіндезамінази та 5-нуклеотидази.Результати. Паранеопластична (неоплазменна) подагра розвивається у 3,5 % від загальної кількості хворих на РЛ та у 22,9 % від числа пацієнтів із ПНПС. Вона відрізняється від первинної (ідіопатичної) більшою частотою розвитку хвороби в жінок, залученням у процес суглобів рук і метаболічного типу гіперурикемії, але рідше спостерігають уролітіаз, периферійні тофуси, хронічну форму артриту й відсутність ниркового типу порушень пуринового обміну. Пацієнти з пухлинною подагрою відрізняються від решти хворих на РЛ із ПНПС відсутністю двобічного легеневого процесу та середньодольовою його локалізацією, але відносно частим виникненням верхівкового раку Панкоста–Тобіаса, високими рівнями у крові сечової кислоти, ксантиноксидази.Розвиток паранеопластичної подагри залежить від перебігу РЛ (проростання пухлини у грудну стінку й перикард, кількості груп метастазів у віддалених органах) і потужності хіміотерапії, використання алкилантів, алкалоїдів барвінка. Від паранеопластичної подагри залежить поява на тлі лікування мієлодепресії, променевого пневмофіброзу та гострого тромбофлебіту. Наявність подагри не погіршує виживаність хворих на РЛ із ПНПС. Хворим на РЛ, що має перебіг із гіперурикемією (>420 мкмоль/л у чоловіків і >360 мкмоль/л у жінок), рекомендується призначення в комплексі лікувальних заходів інгібітора ксантиноксидази алопуринолу.Висновки. Паранеопластична подагра є частим проявом ПНПС при РЛ, перебіг її має свої особливості порівняно з первинною подагру та тісно пов’язаний із характером пухлинного процесу, потужністю хіміотерапії, може визначати розвиток ускладнень у процесі здійснених лікувальних заходів. Наведені відомості потребують наступного порівняльного аналізу інших ознак ПНПС, зіставлення пухлинних та ідіопатичних варіантів патології опорно-рухового апарату, шкірних васкулітів та автоімунних системних синдромів, що, можливо, дасть можливість розробити додаткові прогностичні критерії перебігу пухлинного процесу, підвищить ефективність лікувальних заходів та якість їх контролю.

Excited states in Sn133 were investigated through the β decay of In133 at the ISOLDE facility. The ISOLDE Resonance Ionization Laser Ion Source (RILIS) provided isomer-selective ionization for In133, allowing us to study separately, and in detail, the β-decay branch of In133Jπ=(9/2+) ground state and its Jπ=(1/2-) isomer. Thanks to the large spin difference of the two β-decaying states of In133, it is possible to investigate separately the lower and higher spin states in the daughter, Sn133, and thus to probe independently different single-particle and single-hole levels. We report here new γ transitions observed in the decay of In133, including those assigned to the deexcitation of the neutron-unbound states.

The theoretical study of ultracold few-body systems is often done using an idealized 1D model with zero range interactions. Here we study these systems using a more realistic 3D model with finite range interactions. We place three-particles, two identical and one impurity, in an axial symmetric harmonic trap and solve the corresponding stationary Schr\"odinger equation using the correlated Gaussian method for different particle types, aspect ratios and interactions strength. We show that the idealized model is accurate for small and intermediate strength interactions at aspect ratios larger than four, independently of the particle types. Nuclear spins and precise values of the magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole moments of the ground-states of neutron-rich 76􀀀78Cu isotopes were measured using the Collinear Resonance Ionization Spectroscopy (CRIS) experiment at ISOLDE, CERN. The nuclear moments of the less exotic 73;75Cu isotopes were re-measured with similar precision, yielding values that are consistent with earlier measurements. The moments of the odd-odd isotopes, and 78 29Cu (N = 49) in particular, are used to investigate excitations of the assumed doubly-magic 78Ni core through comparisons with large-scale shell-model calculations. Despite the narrowing of the Z = 28 shell gap between N 45 and N = 50, the magicity of Z = 28 and N = 50 is restored towards 78Ni. This is due to weakened dynamical correlations, as clearly probed by the present moment measurements.

We combine few- and many-body degrees of freedom in a new computationally efficient model applicable to both bound and continuum states and adaptable to different subfields of physics. We formulate a self-consistent three-body model for a core nucleus surrounded by two valence nucleons, where the core is treated in the mean-field approximation and the same effective Skyrme interaction is used between both core and valence nucleons. We apply the model to O-26, where we reproduce the known experimental data as well as phenomenological models with more parameters. The decay of the ground state is found to proceed directly into the continuum without effect of the virtual sequential decay through the well-reproduced d(3/2) resonance of O-25.

Matrix elements between shifted correlated Gaussians of various potentials with several form-factors are calculated analytically. Analytic matrix elements are of importance for the correlated Gaussian method in quantum few-body physics.

Hyperfine structure and isotope shifts have been measured for the ground and isomeric states in the neutron-deficient isotopes Tl179-184 using the 276.9-nm transition. The experiment has been performed at the CERN-Isotope Separator On-Line facility using the in-source resonance-ionization laser spectroscopy technique. Spins for the ground states in Tl179,181,183 have been determined as I=1/2. Magnetic moments and changes in the nuclear mean-square charge radii have been deduced. By applying the additivity relation for magnetic moments of the odd-odd Tl nuclei the leading configuration assignments were confirmed. A deviation of magnetic moments for isomeric states in Tl182,184 from the trend of the heavier Tl nuclei is observed. The charge radii of the ground states of the isotopes Tl179-184 follow the trend for isotonic (spherical) lead nuclei. The noticeable difference in charge radii for ground and isomeric states of Tl183,184 has been observed, suggesting a larger deformation for the intruder-based 9/2- and 10- states compared to the ground states. An unexpected growth of the isomer shift for Tl183 has been found.

Direct mass measurements of the low-spin 3/2− and high-spin 13/2+ states in the neutron-deficient isotopes Po195 and Po197 were performed with the Penning-trap mass spectrometer ISOLTRAP at ISOLDE-CERN. These measurements allow the determination of the excitation energy of the isomeric state arising from the νi13/2 orbital in Po195,197. Additionally, the excitation energy of isomeric states of lead, radon, and radium isotopes in this region were obtained from α-decay chains. These excitation energies complete the knowledge of the energy systematics in the region and confirm that the 13/2+ states remain isomeric, independent of the number of valence neutrons. A detailed α-decay spectroscopy study of 180Tl has been performed at ISOLDE (CERN). Z-selective ionization by the Resonance Ionization Laser Ion Source (RILIS) coupled to mass separation provided a high-purity beam of 180Tl. Fine-structure α decays to excited levels in the daughter 176Au were identified and an α-decay scheme of 180Tl was constructed based on an analysis of α−γ and α−γ−γ coincidences. Multipolarities of several γ-ray transitions deexciting levels in 176Au were determined. Based on the analysis of reduced α-decay widths, it was found that all α decays are hindered, which signifies a change of configuration between the parent and all daughter states. ispartof: Physical Review C vol:96 issue:5 status: published
