Various fast dissolving drug formulations have been recently introduced into the market. This work proposes the design of novel oral fast dissolving tablets (FDT’s) of loperamide HCl with special emphasis on disintegration and dissolution studies. The main goal was augmenting the adherence to treatment of diseases which happen with diarrhea in soldiers who are exposed to diverse kinds of hostile environments. The excipients were used for this study was based on the compatibility studies. Optimized orally oral fast dissolving tablets were prepared by the direct compression method from cross xanthan gum development to the industrial scale technique. The results show that loperamide HCl FDT’s  offers a rapid beginning of action and improvement in the bioavailability of poorly absorbed drugs. The manufactured FDT’s complied with the pharmacopeia guidelines regarding hardness, weight variation, thickness, friability, drug content, wetting time, percentage of water absorption, disintegration time, and in-vitro dissolution profile. Drug compatibility with excipients was checked by FTIR studies.

Diclofenac sodium belongs to a class of drugs known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This medication is used to relieve joint pain from arthritis. It has shorter half life (2hr). It undergoes extensive first pass metabolism. Frequent dosing is required in case of conventional dosage form. The objective of present study was to develop ethyl cellulose-based sustained release diclofenac sodium microspheres to reduce the dosing frequency to achieve targeted drug delivery system. The diclofenac sodium-loaded ethyl cellulose microspheres were formulated by emulsification technique and the physicochemical properties of the formulations were characterized. Compatibility studies were carried out using FTIR studies. The percentage drug content was studied in three different pH media (pH 1.2, pH 6.8 and pH 8.0). The entrapment efficiency of these microspheres was between 36% and 80.95%. The obtained microspheres showed good flow properties, which were evaluated in terms of angle of repose (15.27 – 20.30), bulk and tapped densities (0.34-0.39 and 0.37-0.48, respectively), Carr indices and Hausner ratio (20-45 and 1.03-1.80, respectively). Particle size and percentage drug content depended on the nature and content of polymer used. In formulation (F) first drug and ethyl cellulose were use in 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 ratios. As the concentration of polymer increases the drug encapsulation in microsphere were increasing. Formulation F3 was found best formulation. Thus, overall study reveals that prepared microspheres of diclofenac sodium by using ethyl cellulose using binary organic mixture as solvent at different ratios to enhances the percentage drug content and flow properties.

The goal of A&T is to reduce avoidable death and disability due to suboptimal IYCF in the developing world by increasing exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) until 6 months of age and reducing the stunting of children under two years of age. A&T applied principles of social franchising within the government health system to deliver the interventions. A&T’s Viet Nam strategy is designed to support improvements in infant and young child feeding (IYCF) in three key ways: (1) improving policy and regulatory environments; (2) shaping IYCF demand and practice; and (3) increasing supply, demand, and use of fortified complementary foods. In order to achieve this, the A&T Viet Nam program has been divided into three main focus areas namely advocacy, community, and the private sector. In addition, a communications component is integrated into each of these focus areas to support their activities. Among several activities, the franchise model is a core initiative of the community model to provide quality nutrition counseling to women and families at health facilities at all levels. Implemented in cooperation with the Vietnamese government and select private clinics, franchises will deliver a package of focused IYCF counseling services to pregnant women, lactating mothers, and their families, based on a franchise service package. Many herbal remedies individually or in combination have been recommended in various medical expositions for the cure of different diseases. Free radicals are implicated for many diseases including diabetes mellitus, arthritis, cancer, aging, etc. In the treatment of these diseases, antioxidant therapy has gained utmost importance. Currently there has been an increased interest globally to identify antioxidant compound that are pharmacologically potent and have low or no side effects. As plants are source of natural antioxidants, much attention has been gain to plants. The quest for natural antioxidants for dietary, cosmetic and pharmaceutical uses has become a major industrial and scientific research challenges over the last two decades. A variety of free radical scavenging antioxidants exists within the body in which many of them are derived from dietary sources like fruits, vegetables and teas. The Ocimum canum , commonly known as ‘Kala Tulsi’, has been recognized in different system of traditional medicines for the treatment of different diseases and ailments of human beings. In this study, Antioxidant activity of the hydro-alcoholic extract of Ocimum canum was determined by various antioxidant assays. In all the testing, a significant correlation existed between concentrations of the extract and percentage inhibition of free radicals. These findings suggest that the hydro-alcoholic extracts are able to scavenge free radicals, by either hydrogen or electron donating mechanisms, and can therefore act as primary antioxidants. The antioxidant property may be related to the phenols and flavonoids present in the extracts. These results clearly indicate that Ocimum canum can be effectively used against free radical mediated diseases.
