The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of content marketing with the purchase intention of the PYCCA brand in the city of Machala. The present study has a quantitative approach of correlational type, an application of a Likert-type questionnaire will be used to a sample of 250 people over the age of 25 who are familiar with the PYCCA brand. For the analysis of the data, the PLS-SEM method (structural equation model) is used, which facilitates the understanding of the relationships between the variables raised. The results obtained support the three hypotheses raised in this research. First, it confirms that content marketing influences consumer trust. Secondly, it is verified that trust has a significant impact on purchase intention. And finally, it shows that content marketing directly influences purchase intent. It should be noted that this study focuses on the household products sector, which could serve as a starting point for future research in this area., El propósito de esta investigación es analizar la influencia del marketing de contenidos con la intención de compra de la marca PYCCA en la ciudad de Machala. El presente estudio tiene un enfoque cuantitativo de tipo correlacional, se utilizará una aplicación de un cuestionario de tipo Likert a una muestra de 250 personas mayores de 25 años de que estén familiarizados con la marca PYCCA. Para el análisis de los datos, se emplea el método PLS-SEM (modelo de ecuaciones estructurales), que facilita la comprensión de las relaciones entre las variables planteadas. Los resultados obtenidos respaldan las tres hipótesis planteadas en esta investigación. En primer lugar, se confirma que el marketing de contenidos ejerce influencia en la confianza del consumidor. En segundo lugar, se verifica que la confianza tiene un impacto significativo en la intención de compra. Y, por último, se demuestra que el marketing de contenidos influye directamente en la intención de compra. Cabe destacar que este estudio se enfoca en el sector de productos para el hogar que podría servir como punto de partida para investigaciones futuras en esta área.

Formaldehyde is a chemical compound used as a precursor in various industrial processes and hair straightening products. It is classified as carcinogenic in humans. Considering the importance of the topic, this review aims to identify and characterize the health risks that formaldehyde chronic exposure involves and to describe the existing evidence of its main toxic effects as well as the risk factors during the application of this compound in the hair straightening process. For this purpose, a literature review was carried out by using the PubMed database, limiting it to studies conducted between 2010 and 2020. A total of 126 publications were found, for which a relevance analysis was performed, and those that studied the effects after chronic inhalation of formaldehyde in humans were selected. Finally, this search resulted in 75 publications. Among the harmful effects of formaldehyde analyzed in each publication, those present in three or more publications were selected. Based on the results obtained in this review, harmful effects of formaldehyde chronic exposure cannot be ruled out. There is evidence from the literature that corroborates the increase in genotoxic processes in humans, specifically in nasal epithelial cells and peripheral blood leukocytes. On the other hand, there is no robust epidemiological evidence that links chronic exposure to this compound and leukemia or nasopharyngeal cancer. Regarding reproductive toxicity, there are reports of miscarriages and low birth weight, even when the exposed subject is the future father. Other pathologies that have been linked to formaldehyde chronic exposure are renal damage, methemoglobinemia, asthma, dermatitis, tumors, skin irritation and burns, eye fatigue and pain, tearing, mood changes, fatigue, sore throat, rhinorrhea and headache. Se describe la evidencia existente sobre sus principales efectos tóxicos, así como también los factores de riesgo durante la aplicación de este compuesto en el proceso de alisado capilar. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica utilizando la base de datos de PubMed, cuya búsqueda se limitó al periodo 2010-2020. Se encontraron 126 publicaciones, a las cuales se realizó un análisis de pertinencia, luego se seleccionaron aquellas que estudiaron los efectos tras la inhalación crónica de formaldehído en seres humanos; finalmente quedaron 75 publicaciones. Entre los efectos nocivos del formaldehído analizados en cada publicación, se seleccionaron aquellos presentes en tres o más publicaciones. En base a los resultados obtenidos en esta revisión, no pueden descartarse los efectos nocivos producto de la exposición crónica al formaldehído. Existe evidencia bibliográfica que corrobora el aumento de procesos genotóxicos en humanos, específicamente en células epiteliales nasales y leucocitos de sangre periférica. Por otra parte, no existe evidencia epidemiológica robusta que relacione la exposición crónica a este compuesto con leucemia o cáncer nasofaríngeo. Respecto de la toxicidad reproductiva, existen reportes de abortos espontáneos y bajo peso al nacer, incluso cuando el sujeto expuesto es el futuro padre. Otras patologías mencionadas con exposición crónica al formaldehído son daño renal, metahemoglobinemia, asma, dermatitis, tumores, irritación y quemaduras de piel, fatiga y dolor ocular, lagrimeo, cambios de humor, fatiga, irritación de la garganta, rinorrea y dolor de cabeza. The study "From academic learning to modeling learning: Integrative cognitive vision" aims to explore the integration of academic and modeling approaches from a cognitive perspective in the educational environments present in the country Ecuador. To this end, an exhaustive review of academic literature was conducted, and relevant studies in cognitive psychology and education were analyzed. The results highlight the importance of understanding cognitive processes in the design of effective educational strategies that meet the demands of the Ecuadorian reality, including personalized learning, the application of simulation models, and the development of innovative educational tools. Based on these findings, it is recommended to explore areas of future research, such as the application of emerging technologies, the impact of cognitive stimulation, and the development of innovative educational tools., El estudio "Desde el aprender académico hasta el aprender modelando: Visión cognitiva integradora" tiene como intencionalidad explorar la integración de enfoques académicos y de modelado desde una perspectiva cognitiva en los entornos educativos presentes en el país Ecuador. Para ello, se realizó una revisión exhaustiva de la literatura académica y se analizaron estudios relevantes en psicología cognitiva y educación. Los resultados resaltan la importancia de comprender los procesos cognitivos en el diseño de estrategias educativas que sean efectivas para las demandas de la realidad ecuatoriana, esto a su vez incluye la personalización del aprendizaje, la aplicación de modelos de simulación, y el desarrollo de herramientas educativas innovadoras. En base a estos hallazgos, se recomienda explorar áreas de investigación futura, como la aplicación de tecnologías emergentes, el impacto de la estimulación cognitiva, y el desarrollo de herramientas educativas innovadoras.

Introduction: The presence of heavy metals in the environment has been linked to female infertility. Follicular fluid (FF), which surrounds the developing oocyte in the ovary, can provide valuable insights into the content of a number of elements. However, there is a lack of comprehensive studies that analyze trace elements in FF samples using standardized protocols and methods. The objective of this study was to develop a reliable method utilizing ICP-MS/MS without sample digestion to detect 22 analytes in FF samples. Methods: Four FF samples (n = 4) were obtained from patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments. These were adequately aliquoted and processed. They were subsequently analyzed via ICP-MS/MS, both in He and no-gas mode. Finally, the data of interest were compiled in a database. Results: Analyte recovery ranged from 70% to 130%, with better results observed in no-gas mode compared to He mode. Among the 22 elements analyzed, only 9Be, 140Ce, 111Cd, 139La, 208Pb, and 238U were not detected. Minor concentrations were observed for 137Ba, 209Bi, 59Co, 55Mn, 95Mo, 60Ni, 121Sb, 118Sn, 205Tl, and 51V, while intermediate concentrations were found for 7Li and 88Sr. Major concentrations were identified for 52Cr, 85Rb, 47Ti, and 66Zn. Conclusions: A new procedure was developed in this study, with several advantages. One of them is the good results in terms of the recovery of a wide variety of elements using ICP-MS/MS in the poorly studied biological matrix that is follicular fluid. Another advantage is the low amount of sample required to perform the analysis and the development of a green method where the sample is not digested and not diluted, which allowed us to avoid the excessive dilution of the concentration of analytes. Moreover, the developed method provides a novel approach to diagnose and predict health risks in women with gynecological pathologies and to assess their overall health, including reproductive health.

Los depósitos abandonados de residuos mineros consistentes en lodos de flotación procedentes de lavaderos de mineral suponen un problema medioambiental debido, sobre todo, a las concentraciones extremadamente altas de metales (por ejemplo, Zn, Pb, Mn) y metaloides (por ejemplo As) que contienen. A causa de la gran cantidad de depósitos abandonados que existen, es poco viable asumir los gastos y las dificultades técnicas de restaurar todos ellos por métodos como su retirada y transporte a vertedero o su encapsulado. Estas actuaciones deberían priorizarse cuando los depósitos entrañen un riesgo inaceptable por colapso y/o por su cercanía a poblaciones. El fitomanejo puede complementar otras opciones más costosas, ayudando a reducir el riesgo de que los depósitos sean una fuente de dispersión de elementos potencialmente peligrosos, al mejorar sus suelos, facilitar el crecimiento de plantas directamente sobre ellos y mejorar el ecosistema.

Donde se describe la pertinencia de la investigación, se analizan aspectos técnicos de los procesos y los casos de estudios en algunos países para poder abordar los problemas o beneficios encontrados. Se implementan estrategias, para hacer los procesos y estudios de inspección a los métodos de estampado eficientes y funcionales que otorgue un beneficio y para su uso en las industrias metalmecánicas. Finalmente se hace un estudio y se dan conclusiones de los resultados obtenidos, donde se muestran las ventajas de estos métodos de inspección para estampados, mostrando su funcionalidad y calidad de acabado.

Six axis force-torque sensors are commonly attached to the wrist of serial robots to measure the external forces and torques acting on the robot's end-effector. These measurements are used for load identification, contact detection, and human-robot interaction amongst other applications. Typically, the measurements obtained from the force-torque sensor are more accurate than estimates computed from joint torque readings, as the former is independent of the robot's dynamic and kinematic models. However, the force-torque sensor measurements are affected by a bias that drifts over time, caused by the compounding effects of temperature changes, mechanical stresses, and other factors. In this work, we present a pipeline that continuously estimates the bias and the drift of the bias of a force-torque sensor attached to the wrist of a robot. The first component of the pipeline is a Kalman filter that estimates the kinematic state (position, velocity, and acceleration) of the robot's joints. The second component is a kinematic model that maps the joint-space kinematics to the task-space kinematics of the force-torque sensor. Tidal marshes store large amounts of organic carbon in their soils. Field data quantifying soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks provide an important resource for researchers, natural resource managers, and policy-makers working towards the protection, restoration, and valuation of these ecosystems. We collated a global dataset of tidal marsh soil organic carbon (MarSOC) from 99 studies that includes location, soil depth, site name, dry bulk density, SOC, and/or soil organic matter (SOM). The MarSOC dataset includes 17,454 data points from 2,329 unique locations, and 29 countries. We generated a general transfer function for the conversion of SOM to SOC. Using this data we estimated a median (± median absolute deviation) value of 79.2 ± 38.1 Mg SOC ha−1 in the top 30 cm and 231 ± 134 Mg SOC ha−1 in the top 1 m of tidal marsh soils globally. This data can serve as a basis for future work, and may contribute to incorporation of tidal marsh ecosystems into climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies and policies.

El paso de la pandemia del coronavirus por el sector aeronáutico dejó a gran parte de las compañías aéreas y empresas relacionadas del sector con grandes consecuencias económicas, habiendo gran parte de ellas que no fueron capaces de hacer frente a la situación. Es por ello que, buena parte de las empresas tuvieron que adaptarse y reinventarse, para poder solventar la situación, mientras que también aparecieron muchas otras que aprovecharon la pandemia para plantear o impulsar nuevos servicios. De entre todos estos servicios, de los que mayor impulso percibió fue un servicio logístico planteado por muy pocas compañías, que ofrecían la recogida de la maleta del usuario en su domicilio, gestionando estos todos los trámites relacionados con el transporte y la facturación, haciendo que el pasajero tuviese que preocuparse tan solo de recoger su maleta en el aeropuerto de destino. A pesar de este impulso, pocas siguen siendo las compañías que han aprovechado este servicio, siendo esta aún una propuesta muy reciente y por explotar. Así pues, a lo largo de este trabajo se pretenderá realizar un estudio de viabilidad para implementar un servicio de recogida de maletas para la compañía Vueling donde será necesaria la colaboración con una empresa logística externa. Para ello, se realizará una investigación sobre la situación actual en el sector aeroespacial, más concretamente el relacionado con los aeropuertos. De este estudio se pretenderá identificar las principales empresas que realicen un servicio similar al propuesto, que sirvan como referencia y punto de partida para poder desarrollar la metodología de trabajo del nuevo servicio, así como para investigar los aspectos que se pueden añadir o mejorar. También, se detallarán las normativas y cuestiones medioambientales que se deberán tener en cuenta para ofrecer el servicio de manera adecuada y con la mayor eficiencia posible. Introduction: According to the World Health Organization, drug waste is the disposal of all expired, contaminated, or spilled drugs that should be disposed of properly. Objective: To identify the recurrent disposal practices of expired or unused medicines of patients who come to the institutional pharmacy of the Hospital General Teófilo Dávila de Machala to obtain information on whether there is proper waste management, using information-gathering instruments. Materials and methods: A hybrid, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out. An anonymous survey was applied to 80 ambulatory patients. Scientific journals such as Scopus, Redalyc, Sciencedirect and Scielo were used for data collection. The data obtained were compiled in an Excel database. Results: The female gender (62.5%) prevailed over the male gender, with 33% of the participants falling within the 38-55 age group. Analgesics/anti-inflammatories (43%) were the most prescribed medications. A significant 95% of the population is unaware of the correct way to dispose of medications, with 90% discarding them in the regular trash. Furthermore, 94% believe that medication disposal affects the environment, while 44% mentioned potential health and environmental effects. Notably, 96% are unaware of the "Corporation Punto Azul," while 97% find it useful to receive additional information on this topic, and 99% would return medications to nearby pharmacies. Conclusions: Outpatients are unaware of the proper disposal management of expired or unused medications., Introducción: Según la Organización Mundial de la Salud, los residuos de medicamentos es la eliminación de todos los medicamentos vencidos, contaminados o derramados que deben desecharse adecuadamente. Objetivo: Identificar las prácticas de desecho recurrentes de los medicamentos caducados o no utilizados de pacientes que acuden a retirar el tratamiento farmacológico en la farmacia institucional del Hospital General Teófilo Dávila de Machala para conocer si existe un correcto manejo de residuos, mediante la utilización de instrumentos de recolección de información. Materiales y métodos: Se desarrolló un estudio hibrido, descriptivo y de corte transversal. Se aplicó una encuesta anónima a 80 pacientes ambulatorios. Para la recopilación de datos se utilizó revistas científicas como Scopus, Redalyc, Sciencedirect y Scielo. Los datos obtenidos se recopilaron en una base de datos elaborada en Excel. Resultados: El género femenino (62,5 %) prevaleció ante el género masculino, el 33 % de la edad es entre 38-55 años. Los analgésicos/antiinflamatorios (43%) fueron los medicamentos comúnmente recetados. El (95%) de la población desconoce la manera correcta de eliminar los medicamentos. De tal manera que el (90 %) desecha los medicamentos por la basura común. El (94%) consideran que afectan al medio ambiente, por otra parte, el (44%) menciono que se pueden generar efectos a la salud y al medio ambiente, el (96%) desconoce sobre la corporación punto azul, mientras que el (97%) considera útil recibir información adicional referente a este tema y el (99%) devolverían los medicamentos en las farmacias más cercanas. Conclusiones: Los pacientes ambulatorios desconocen el correcto manejo de eliminación de los medicamentos caducados o no utilizados.

Counterproductive work behaviors (CWB) are those behaviors that affect the performance of individuals and the organization in general, so far analyzed in traditional work environments. The objective of the present study was to validate the CLC scale in virtual environments in a Mexican population. The English version was adapted to Spanish using the retranslation method. It was applied to a non-probabilistic sample of 332 teleworkers. By means of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, with the help of SPSS Statistics and AMOS Graphics, validity and reliability tests were carried out. The model presents a good fit (χ2/df = 1.957, CFI= 0.960, TLI= 0.950, RMSEA= 0.054, SRMR= 0.0536) with 23 items and 4 dimensions presenting adequate reliability indices (AO=.952, UIT=0.895, DP= 0.866, AI= 0.707). An initial proposal of the factorial structure of the CLC scale in virtual environments is presented for the Mexican population; with 4 factors: organizational sabotage or abuse, misuse of time, production deviation and interpersonal abuse. Further studies are required to validate the scale in specific and general contexts of Mexican teleworkers, as well as to use the present scale to validate the individual job performance variable in Mexican teleworkers., Las conductas laborales contraproducentes (CLC) son aquellas conductas que afectan el rendimiento de los individuos y la organización en general, hasta ahora analizadas en entornos de trabajo tradicionales. El objetivo del presente estudio fue validar la escala de CLC en entornos virtuales, en población mexicana. Se adaptó la versión del inglés al español utilizando el método de re traducción. Se aplicó a una muestra no probabilística de 332 teletrabajadores. Por medio del análisis factorial exploratorio y confirmatorio, con ayuda de SPSS Statistics y AMOS Graphics, se realizaron las pruebas de validez y confiabilidad. El modelo presenta un buen ajuste (χ2/df = 1.957, CFI= 0.960, TLI= 0.950, RMSEA= 0.054, SRMR= 0.0536) con 23 ítems y 4 dimensiones que presentan índices de confiabilidad adecuados (AO=.952, UIT=0.895, DP= 0.866, AI= 0.707). Se presenta una propuesta inicial de la estructura factorial de la escala de CLC en entornos virtuales, para la población mexicana; con cuatro factores: Sabotaje o abuso organizacional, uso indebido del tiempo, desviación de la producción y abuso interpersonal. Se requieren más estudios que validen la escala en contextos específicos y generales de teletrabajadores mexicanos, así como utilizar la presente escala para validar la variable de rendimiento laboral individual en teletrabajadores mexicanos.

The research is aimed at obtaining edible-biodegradable films to maintain and preserve the quality of food. Corn starch is used, which due to its hydrophilic characteristic requires the addition gelatin; and mandarin peel essential oil (AE), which due to its hydrophobic nature reduces permeability. To obtain the essential oil, the Clavenger method is applied; and the Casting method is used for its elaboration films and are formulated using a factorial experimental design kn of 32, with 2.5%, 3.75% and 5% w/v gelatin concentrations; and essential oil at 0.3%, 0.4% and 0.5% v/v; the constants are maintained: 5% starch and 3% glycerol. The response variables (solubility, humidity and WVP), are evaluated through the statistical analysis of ANOVA and are displayed on the Pareto diagram and Response Surface Graph. These, in turn, reflect that, at a higher percentage of gelatin, the films experience an increase in their response variables; and, at a higher percentage of essential oil, a decrease is generated. However, the interaction of the two factors significantly (p<0.05) affects the decrease in solubility. The regression model determined for the (%) solubility, (%) humidity and WVP, yield an R2 of 98.64%, 98.62% and 97.05%, respectively., La investigación se orienta a la obtención de películas biodegradables para mantener y conservar la calidad de los alimentos. Se utiliza almidón de maíz, que por su característica hidrofílica requiere la adición de gelatina; y, aceite esencial de cáscara de mandarina (AE), por su naturaleza hidrofóbica. Para la obtención del AE, se aplica el método Clavenger; y, el método Casting para la elaboración de las películas, formuladas mediante un diseño experimental tipo factorial kn de 32, con concentraciones de gelatina al 2.5%, 3.75% y 5% p/v; y, AE al 0.3%, 0.4% y 0.5% v/v; se mantienen constantes: almidón 5% y glicerol 3%. Los resultados de las variables de respuesta (Solubilidad, Humedad y WVP), se interpretan a través del análisis estadístico ANOVA, y se visualizan en el diagrama de Pareto y gráfico Superficie de Respuesta. Los mismos que reflejan que, a mayor porcentaje de gelatina, las películas experimentan un incremento en sus variables de respuesta; y, a mayor porcentaje de AE se genera una disminución. No obstante, la interacción de los dos factores afecta significativamente (p<0.05) en la disminución de la solubilidad. El modelo de regresión determinado para %Solubilidad, %Humedad y WVP, arrojan un R2 de 98.64%, 98.62% y 97.05%, respectivamente.

[SPA] Los residuos mineros metalíferos se encuentran entre los ambientes más inhóspitos para la biota (altos niveles de metales/metaloides, pH extremos, alta salinidad, escasa materia orgánica y nutrientes). A menudo estos residuos se depositan en pilas al aire libre (depósitos de residuos mineros), que clásicamente son restaurados mediante técnicas de cubrición con suelo limpio y posterior plantación. Una alternativa es favorecer el crecimiento de especies vegetales sobre los residuos, contribuyendo a crear sistemas suelo-planta funcionales, como han demostrado estudios previos. El objetivo del trabajo fue evaluar cómo los suelos de depósitos técnicamente restaurados y los abandonados colonizados espontáneamente por la vegetación difieren en su capacidad para mineralizar carbono y nitrógeno. Los resultados muestran que los suelos de ambos depósitos son funcionales, y tienen un potencial similar para mineralizar nitrógeno. Sin embargo, los suelos del depósito restaurado mostraron mayor capacidad de mineralizar carbono. [ENG] Metal mine wastes are among the most hostile environments for biota (high metal/metalloid levels, extreme pH, high salinity, low organic matter and nutrients). These wastes are often stored in open-air piles (mine tailings) that are classically restored with techniques of topsoil capping and then afforestation. An alternative is to promote the growth of native plant species directly in mine wastes, which help to create functional soil- plant systems, as previous studies showed. This work aimed to evaluate how technically reclaimed and abandoned spontaneously colonized metal(loid) mine tailings’ soils differ in their ability to mineralize carbon and nitrogen. The results show that the soils of both mine tailings are functional and have a similar potential to mineralize nitrogen. However, the soils of the restored reservoir showed a greater capacity to mineralize carbon.

Describir objetos con estructura compleja de forma mas simple es uno de los problemas clásicos en Estadística. El Análisis de Componentes Principales (ACP) es uno de los ejemplos fundamentales en este ámbito. Se puede entender este análisis en términos de un problema de codificación, en el que buscamos una transformación lineal del espacio original a otro de dimensión menor seguido de otra transformación lineal, del espacio de dimensión menor al original de forma que la pérdida en el proceso de codificación/decodificación sea mínima. La restricción a codificadores lineales puede resultar poco flexible. Esta idea está detrás de los autocodificadores, en los que la transformación se elige mediante una red neuronal. Pero el exceso de flexibilidad puede conducir a codificadores poco estables y esto se debe corregir mediante algún tipo de penalización. En este trabajo se propone estudiar el caso de penalizaciones basadas en la métrica del transporte óptimo. Se estudiarán las posibles ventajas e inconvenientes de esta aproximación frente a las alternativas más frecuentes y los principales aspectos de su implementación práctica. Introducción: la soledad no deseada en pacientes ancianos es una preocupación en la actualidad, pues cada vez son más frecuentes estas situaciones. Se investigan los factores de riesgo principales que conducen a la soledad en las personas mayores, con el fin de hallar soluciones que permitan acabar con este problema mediante intervenciones de enfermería. Objetivos: saber reconocer la soledad no deseada en pacientes geriátricos, analizando los recursos actuales y dar respuesta mediante intervenciones de enfermería. Metodología: se llevó a cabo una revisión bibliográfica de los artículos publicados en los últimos 5 años (2018 hasta 2023) en inglés o en español en diversas bases de datos internacionales como son PubMed, Dialnet y Scielo. Resultados: según la evidencia consultada, se estableció la sintomatología asociada, se desarrollaron los factores de riesgo y factores protectores de la soledad en las personas mayores, se identificaron instrumentos para detectar y prevenir la soledad, así como algunas intervenciones para paliar la soledad y su efectividad, y se revisó el abordaje enfermero desde la taxonomía NANDA, NIC y NOC. Conclusiones: la soledad no deseada en los ancianos es un problema muy habitual en nuestra sociedad que cada vez está más presente en nuestro día a día. Tras la revisión bibliográfica se ha encontrado la suficiente evidencia para poder afirmar que la soledad no deseada influye de manera negativa en la salud de las personas que la padecen. Lo más importante para abordar de manera correcta los casos de soledad es identificarlos de manera adecuada.

We collated a global dataset of tidal marsh soil organic carbon (MarSOC) from 99 studies that includes location, soil depth, site name, dry bulk density, SOC, and/or soil organic matter (SOM). The MarSOC dataset includes 17,454 data points from 2,329 unique locations, and 29 countries. We generated a general transfer function for the conversion of SOM to SOC. Using this data we estimated a median (± median absolute deviation) value of 79.2 ± 38.1 Mg SOC ha−1 in the top 30 cm and 231 ± 134 Mg SOC ha−1 in the top 1 m of tidal marsh soils globally. This data can serve as a basis for future work, and may contribute to incorporation of tidal marsh ecosystems into climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies and policies.

Firefighters (FF) are exposed to chemicals, some of them carcinogens. Recently, the International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified the FF occupation on Group 1, known to be carcinogenic to humans. In Chile, FF activity is mostly a volunteer- based occupation. The objective of this study was to characterize FFs from the Fire Department of Talcahuano, Chile in regards with cancer risk factors. A descriptive observational study was performed. Characterization of cancer risk factors (modifiable and non-modifiable) was determined by applying to participants an on-line self-administered survey that included demographics, occupational and safety health, and FF work-related questions. Descriptive statistics parameters and associations were established. A total of 364 FFs (33 women and 330 men) participated of the study. FF age range and mean were 18-72, and 36.3 years old, respectively. 30 % of FFs were smokers, 56 % drinkers, and 36.5 % sedentary. Also, 2.7 % of participants had been diagnosed with cancer. 31.5 % of formally employed FFs declared to be exposed to chemicals at the workplace. Of these, 26 % have also experienced exposures to at least one carcinogen agent. Additionally, 51.1 % of FFs experienced at least one acute symptom associated with fire-controlling activities. 87.1 % of FFs adhered to established gear decontamination and cleaning protocols. This pilot study characterized FFs in terms of modifiable and non-modifiable cancer risk factors, along with occupational exposures to chemicals in their formal employments. Finally, more research is needed in order to assess multiple cancer risk factors, including combined occupational exposures among volunteer FFs., Los bomberos se exponen constantemente a sustancias químicas dentro de las cuales algunas son carcinogénicas. En Chile, la actividad bomberil es mayoritariamente voluntaria. El objetivo de este estudio fue caracterizar a los bomberos del Cuerpo de Bomberos de Talcahuano de Chile con relación a los factores de riesgo para cáncer. Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo. La caracterización de los factores de riesgo modificables y no modificables para cáncer fue determinada mediante una encuesta auto aplicada a los participantes del estudio. La encuesta incluyó aspectos demográficos, de salud y seguridad ocupacional y de actividades propias de la ocupación bomberil. Se establecieron parámetros estadísticos descriptivos y asociaciones entre variables. Un total de 364 bomberos (33 mujeres y 330 hombres) participaron del estudio. El rango de edad y el promedio fue de 18-72 y 36,3 años respectivamente. Un 30 % de los bomberos resultaron ser fumadores, un 56 % bebedores y un 36,5 % sedentarios. Un 2,7 % de los participantes había sido diagnosticado con cáncer al momento del estudio. El 31,5 % de los bomberos con trabajo formal declaró exponerse a sustancias químicas en el lugar de trabajo. Dentro de este grupo, un 26 % ha experimentado exposiciones ocupacionales a al menos un agente carcinogénico. El 51,1 % de los bomberos indicó haber desarrollado síntomas agudos asociados a la extinción de incendios. El 87,1 % de los participantes reconoció adherirse a los protocolos de descontaminación y limpieza de la vestimenta de trabajo. Este estudio piloto caracterizó a los bomberos participantes en relación con los factores de riesgo modificables y no modificables para cáncer en conjunto con la exposición ocupacional a sustancias químicas en los trabajos formales. The new digital environments have allowed the creation of multimedia content that can reach a large number of users. YouTube is used by teachers who create educational content, and it is pertinent to ask about the discursive interaction that creators establish with their users. In this research, two YouTube channels dedicated to teaching mathematics, Unicoos and Matemáticas profe Alex, are compared to assess whether there are significant differences in terms of discursive interaction. The identification of the discursive interaction was made through the metadiscourse applying the interpersonal model. A qualitative content analysis was carried out and the Chi-square test was applied. The results show that there are significant differences in terms of the discursive interaction between the two edutubers. These differences are reflected in the way they interact and the use of questions, in the incorporation of markers of personal contributions and the markers shared knowledge. The use of dialogical strategies is not done with a pedagogical purpose, although the content produced is educational. This research is relevant because it shows the need to design educational content with pedagogical and dialogical intentionality., Los nuevos entornos digitales han permitido la creación de contenidos multimediales que pueden llegar a una gran cantidad de usuarios. YouTube es utilizada por profesores que crean contenido educativo y es pertinente preguntarse por la interacción discursiva que los creadores establecen con sus usuarios. En esta investigación se comparan dos canales de YouTube dedicados a la enseñanza de matemáticas, Unicoos y Matemáticas profe Alex, para evaluar si hay diferencias significativas en cuanto a la interacción discursiva. La identificación de la interacción discursiva se hizo mediante el metadiscurso aplicando el modelo interpersonal. Se realizó un análisis de contenido cualitativo y se aplicó la prueba Chi-cuadrado. Los resultados muestran que existen diferencias significativas en cuanto a la interacción discursiva entre los dos edutubers. Estas diferencias se reflejan en la forma de interactuar, en el uso de preguntas, en la incorporación de marcas de aportes personales y marcas de conocimiento compartido. El uso de estrategias dialógicas no se hace con una finalidad pedagógica, aunque el contenido producido es educativo. Esta investigación es relevante porque muestra la necesidad de diseñar contenido educativo con intencionalidad pedagógica y dialógica.

En relación estrecha con la conservación y la restauración de los fondos atesorados en la Biblioteca Nacional de Cuba José Martí, se encuentra sin duda el control de aquellos agentes cuya siempre presencia o cuya cuantía desproporcionada causa deterioro a los mismos. Esos agentes o factores básicamente son: la luz, temperatura/humedad, polución, contaminación biológica y los desastres naturales. Para mantener un control climático sobre la temperatura y la humedad relativa es necesario atender simultáneamente estos dos factores que constituyen un binomio imposible de separar y cuya incidencia sobre los materiales celulósicos determinan directamente o indirectamente un serio deterioro. El presente estudio a los depósitos de los pisos tres y cuatro de la institución se ha realizado siguiendo lo planteado en la Resolución 201/2020 CITMA. Ya que la única opción para reducir sus efectos es procurar que la actividad de la temperatura/humedad se mantenga dentro de unos límites controlados para que ocasionen el menor daño posible. Estos límites son los que acercaran al clima óptimo caracterizado por la ausencia de grandes oscilaciones en base a la tan deseada constancia de los índices higrométricos y térmicos.

Hemorrhage is a rare complication in bariatric surgery, where its prevalence is up to 4% of procedures, and this will vary according to the different procedures performed, also the hemorrhage that occurs after bariatric surgery is classified as acute, early, late and chronic, it also depends on the site of bleeding because it can be intra-abdominal and intraluminal. A 29-year-old male patient with a history of type 2 diabetes mellitus and grade I obesity, who underwent gastric bypass surgery, presented with melena on several occasions after surgery, in addition to generalized asthenia, which led to a diagnosis of gastrointestinal bleeding. The appropriate treatment is surgery; however, it was decided to perform conservative treatment. This management is expectant since it helps to solve most of the cases as a whole, it also allows the patient to improve his clinical picture and reduces the possibility of warning signs, on this occasion it presented a total efficacy with an excellent recovery, La hemorragia es una complicación rara en la cirugía bariátrica, donde su prevalencia es de hasta 4% de procedimientos, y esta variará de acuerdo con los distintos procedimientos realizados, además la hemorragia que ocurre posterior a una cirugía bariátrica se clasifica como aguda, temprana, tardía y crónica, también depende del lugar de la hemorragia debido a que puede ser intraabdominal e intraluminal. Paciente masculino de 29 años de edad, con antecedentes de diabetes mellitus tipo 2 y obesidad grado I, a quien se le realizó un bypass gástrico, presenta al post quirúrgico inmediato melenas por varias ocasiones, a esto se le suma astenia generalizada, lo que lleva a plantear el diagnóstico de hemorragia digestiva. El tratamiento adecuado es la cirugía, sin embargo, se decide realizar tratamiento conservador. Este manejo es expectante ya que ayuda a resolver en conjunto la mayoría de los casos, así mismo permite al paciente mejorar su cuadro clínico y reduce la posibilidad de que existan signos de alerta, en esta ocasión presentó una eficacia total con una excelente recuperación

Despite the importance of these facilities, many hospitals have resulted severely damaged, and some of them have lost functionality even when subject to moderate earthquakes. In order to better understand the impact and influence of the seismic performance of non-structural components and systems on health facilities loss of function, this paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the loss of function degree observed in 17 hospitals affected by earthquakes with moment magnitudes (Mw) ranging between 5.1 and 8.8, located in countries such as the United States, Taiwan, Türkiye, Chile, Italy, El Salvador, Peru, Spain, Ecuador, and Mexico. The observed losses of function are correlated with structural and non-structural damages and the seismic demands imposed by the earthquakes, estimated from the accelerograms recorded at the closest seismological stations. As a result, the seismic demands triggering the non-structural damage states, and consequently the degree of function loss of the health infrastructure, are presented. Loss of function is classified as low or null, temporary, and permanent. It is observed that the seismic demands that limit the operation during earthquakes correspond to average roof drifts in the order of 1.0‰ and average peak floor accelerations in the range 0.16–0.23¿g, highlighting the need for using seismic isolation technologies and implementing strict nonstructural design measures., Postprint (author's final draft)

Lupus miliaris disseminatus faciei is an uncommon type of granulomatous rosacea characterized by a papular eruption in the central regions of the face. A 43-year-old woman presented with an asymptomatic papular eruption on the face that had developed over a period of five months. Physical examination revealed multiple, small, reddish-brown papules, distributed symmetrically on the central area of the face. A biopsy was taken, showing dermal epithelioid cell granulomas with central necrosis and surrounding lymphocytic infiltrate with multinucleate giant cells. No foreign bodies were found in granulomas and no mycobacterial or fungal components were detected. On the basis of these findings, the diagnosis of lupus miliaris disseminatus faciei was made. The patient was given oral isotretinoin 20mg/day with initial slow response. After 6 months' treatment the lesions completely disappeared. Many authors consider this entity to be a variant of granulomatous rosacea. It is a chronic condition that primarily affects young adults. Treatment is usually unsatisfactory. Therapies with corticosterois, tetracyclines, retinoids, clofazimine or topical tacrolimus have been described but there is a lack of controlled studies and convincing results. Our success with a 6-month course of low dose isotretinoin suggests consideration of a longer trial prior to abandoning this as treatment.

Groundwater abstraction is among the main anthropogenic causes of wetland desiccation worldwide, and corrective measures must be taken to avoid degradation of this valuable ecosystems. A case study is the Agua Amarga salt marsh (≈180 ha) (SE Spain). Agua Amarga includes a solar saltwork pond network in operation between 1925 and 1975, when it was abandoned, and the ponds were colonized by salt marsh vegetation. In 2008 two desalination plants were operating in the marsh vicinity, which were supplied with groundwater. To mitigate the possible negative impact on the salt marsh ecosystem due to groundwater drawdown, in 2009 a sea water irrigation program was implemented. This paper summarizes the results of a ten-year monitoring program (2010–2020) to evaluate the effects of the irrigation program on groundwater levels and quality, soil salinity and moisture, and vegetation cover. During this period, average groundwater level was 2.5 m below the surface and around 1 m deep near the irrigated ponds. Groundwater salinity was not affected outside the saltmarsh, but inside, where the saltworks caused values to rise above 300 mS/cm, it decreased more than 150 mS/cm in some 20 m deep piezometers. Between 2012 and 2020, vegetation cover increased between ≈10 and ≈25 %, with halophyte species such as Arthrocnemum macrostachyum and Sarcocornia fruticosa being the most favoured. In areas with prolonged flooding, Ruppia maritima, a plant species that lives submerged in saline water, was found. In the irrigated areas, soil electrical conductivity (1:5 soil:water extracts) decreased from ≈7-14 mS cm-1 to ≈2-6 mS cm-1. We present an example of sustainable actions in a coastal wetland, where the exploitation of water resources in semiarid areas is combined with promoting natural habitats.

The research has the objective of analyzing marketing activities in social networks of the most recognized brands of Ecuadorian financial entities, being important the study of the relationship that exists between the online marketing environment, the value proposition, the brand image and how they influence about brand loyalty. The quantitative approach is used for the methodology, through the application of a digital survey to 245 bank clients, for the analysis of data obtained from the extracted sample, statistical software was used: SPSS and Smart PLS 3.0, the results show that online marketing has a direct positive influence on bank customer loyalty. Important input for bank managers and academia., La investigación tiene objetivo de analizar actividades de marketing en redes sociales de marcas más reconocidas de entidades financieras ecuatorianas, siendo importante el estudio de la relación que existe entre el entorno de marketing online, la propuesta de valor, la imagen de marca y cómo estas influyen sobre lealtad a la marca. Se utiliza el enfoque cuantitativo para la metodología, mediante la aplicación de una encuesta digital a 245 clientes de bancos, para el análisis de datos obtenidos de la muestra extraída se utilizó software estadístico: SPSS y Smart PLS 3.0, los resultados demuestran que el marketing online tiene influencia directa de manera positiva en la lealtad del cliente de bancos. Insumo importante para los gestores bancarios y para la academia.

Urban growth in Ecuador is spreading over rural land, generally without planning. This phenomenon is defined by speculation on the value of land, illegal land trafficking and irregular subdivision - due to non-compliance with, or ignorance of, regulations. The canton of Riobamba is characterized by the presence of informal settlements that have existed for several decades, which has caused legal insecurity with respect to land ownership and/or tenure, in addition to the lack of support services and infrastructure. This situation highlights the disconnection between land use planning and governmental spheres, which is what this article is interested in. Four qualitative strategies were used for the research: information was collected through participant observation, questionnaires were applied to key officials, a focus group was developed with intermediate officials and 48 intentional interviews were carried out. Among the main results, it stands out that, for high-level officials, the main goal is land regularization, under a political vision of the territory. Intermediate officials lack knowledge on the subject, which is, in itself, a major problem. The inhabitants offered information about how informality was configured; it was possible to notice a strong organizational level that could be used for the implementation of comprehensive public policies. The main conclusion is that the regularization of informal settlements, in practice, is implemented as if it were a public policy that is isolated from planning instruments.

They are the new actors of the information society, who acquire prominence specially in the creation of audiovisual content. This article studies the narrative of YouTubers and the media competition behind the process. To accomplish this task we have selected the 10 most relevant young YouTubers in the Andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru), ranked by number of followers. Their products were analyzed with the following criteria: the narrative that they use, the impact that they generate, and the media competence that they demonstrate. The research we have made is descriptive and uses a mixed-methods approach, which employs technical datasheets that collect general information on the channels studied and the impact of their accounts. In general terms, we have observed that the videos contemplate new standards, which are not related to the contents of traditional media; the narrative is self-referential and through it, YouTubers manage to identify with niches of younger audiences, that can see in them similar life experiences. An interesting aspect is that a good part of the language used is violent and even foul, considering that young people are a vulnerable population group on the internet. Finally, the use and mastery of technological tools is evident on YouTubers, as well as the interest in self-training in content production processes.

Esta investigación presenta las fases de diseño y construcción de un floculador horizontal y su implementación en el laboratorio de hidráulica de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo, ubicada en Ecuador. A través de una investigación documental y experimental se diseñó y construyó el equipo de floculación horizontal, el mismo fue sometido a ensayos de floculación del agua sintética para determinar su uso y funcionamiento. En las pruebas piloto se concluye que después del proceso de floculación con el equipo los parámetros de calidad del agua de color, SST y turbidez disminuyeron con relación a los valores iniciales, lo cual fue corroborado con pruebas de laboratorio.

With COVID-19, digital marketing grew exponentially, but in the new normal it is necessary to adapt content considering the main market segments. In this research we analyze the differences in the consumption of digital content between millennials and centennials. To do this, we consider the Value-based Adoption Model to develop a proposal that helps the closing of online purchases. We conducted a descriptive and quantitative field research from a survey administered to 573 people between 18 and 40 years old in central Mexico. We found that images, tutorials and short videos have great potential because of their popularity. Centennials use them more for consumption and purchase while millennials use more articles and news. We recommend that digital marketing strategies for these generations intensify the use of content that includes images and videos, Con el COVID-19, el marketing digital creció exponencialmente, pero para la nueva normalidad será necesario adaptar contenidos considerando los principales segmentos de mercado. Se realizó una investigación de campo, descriptiva y cuantitativa, a partir de la aplicación de una encuesta a 573 personas del centro de México entre 18 y 40 años. Los resultados revelan que imágenes, tutoriales y videos cortos tienen un gran potencial por su amplia popularidad. De estos últimos, los centennials los utilizan más para consumo y compra, mientras que los millennials utilizan más los artículos y noticias. At present, due to the increase in population, industries each year produce millions of plastic products to cover and satisfy the needs of people, products that have completed their useful life cycle are discarded in landfills or in any part of the environment. Therefore, this scientific research aimed to analyze the feasibility for the production and commercialization of plastic pallets, in order to mitigate environmental pollution. For its development, descriptive and inductive methodology was applied, supported by the primary information search technique: surveys; as well as the secondary technique: literature review. The study denotes the wide use of polymers in companies, as well as the importance of their reuse to reduce the abundance of these residues in the environment. Therefore, the feasibility for the production of plastic pallets is evident given that all the necessary material, human and economic resources are available; On the other hand, the commercialization is feasible at the national level, since at the international level the pallet that is sent does not return to the country, since the Ecuadorian pallet is not considered an export product but rather a transport tool for other products., En la actualidad, debido al aumento de la población, las industrias cada año producen millones de productos plásticos para cubrir y satisfacer las necesidades de las personas, productos que terminado su ciclo de vida útil son desechados en vertederos o en cualquier parte del entorno. Por ello, la presente investigación científica tuvo como objetivo analizar la factibilidad para la producción y comercialización de pallets de plástico, con el fin de mitigar la contaminación ambiental. Para su desarrollo se aplicó metodología descriptiva e inductiva, apoyada de la técnica de búsqueda de información primaria: encuestas; así como de la técnica secundaria: revisión bibliográfica. El estudio denota el amplio uso de los polímeros en las empresas, así como la importancia de su reutilización para disminuir la abundancia de estos residuos en el entorno. Por lo tanto, se evidencia la factibilidad para la producción de pallets plásticos dado que se poseen todos los recursos materiales, humanos y económicos necesarios; por otra parte, la comercialización es factible a nivel nacional, puesto que a nivel internacional el pallet que se envía no retorna al país, dado que el pallet ecuatoriano no es considerado un producto de exportación sino una herramienta de transporte de otros productos.
