The complex Cu2Cl6(C12H11N2O)(2) was synthesized by reacting copper(II) chloride crystal hydrate with 1-amino-9-hydroxy-4-azafluorene, and its crystal structure was determined. Cu2Cl6C12H11N2O)(2) is a centrosymmetric dimer with chlorine bridges, in which the organic ligand is coordinated to the copper atom through the oxygen atom of the hydroxyl group. The CuCl4O polyhedron is a distorted tetragonal pyramid in which the oxygen atom is in the axial position. In crystal, dimers are linked by hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional framework. The complex exhibits ferromagnetic properties, as was shown by EPR.

The Complex Cu2Cl6(C9H10N3O)(2) . (C9H10N3O)Cl has been synthesized by the reaction between copper(II) chloride crystal hydrate and 3-amino-2-methyl-4H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-4-one, and its crystal structure has been determined. The Cu2Cl6(C9H10N2O)(2) is a centrosymmetric dimer in which two copper atoms are linked by two bridging chlorine atoms. The hexachlorodicuprate anion contained in the dimer has a twice-folded conformation. The copper atom (CN = 5) coordinates two chlorine atoms and the amino-group nitrogen of the organic cation. An EPR study revealed the antiferromagnetic properties of the complex.

The crystal structure of the adduct of copper(II) acetate monohydrate and 1-amino-4-aza-9-fluorenone Cu2(CH3COO)4(H2O)2 · C12H8N2O was determined. The structure is layered; the layers are formed by alternating columns of copper(II) acetate monohydrate complexes and columns of dimers of 1-amino-4-aza-9-fluorenone. The layered structure of the adduct is stabilized by a hydrogen bonding system. Changes in the IR absorption spectra due to the formation of the adduct were discussed. © 2001 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".

Complexes of copper(II) halides (chlorides and bromides) with some 4-azafluorene derivatives have been synthesized and studied by X-ray crystallography and IR and UV spectroscopy. In neutral media, Cu(L) 2X2 (X = Cl, Br) complexes are formed in which the ligands are coordinated to the metal atoms though the lone pair of the endocyclic nitrogen atom and through the oxygen atoms of substituents. In acid media at pH 2, (HL2)2CuX4 complexes are formed in which the 4-azafluorene molecules protonated at the endocyclic nitrogen atom act as an outer-sphere cation.
