MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a key class of endogenous non-coding RNAs that play a pivotal role in regulating diseases. Accurately predicting the intricate relationships between miRNAs and diseases carries profound implications for disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. However, these prediction tasks are highly challenging due to the complexity of the underlying relationships. While numerous effective prediction models exist for validating these associations, they often encounter information distortion due to limitations in efficiently retaining information during the encoding-decoding process. Inspired by Multi-layer Heterogeneous Graph Transformer and Machine Learning XGboost classifier algorithm, this study introduces a novel computational approach based on multi-layer heterogeneous encoder-machine learning decoder structure for miRNA-disease association prediction (MHXGMDA). First, we employ the multi-view similarity matrices as the input coding for MHXGMDA. Subsequently, we utilize the multi-layer heterogeneous encoder to capture the embeddings of miRNAs and diseases, aiming to capture the maximum amount of relevant features. Finally, the information from all layers is concatenated to serve as input to the machine learning classifier, ensuring maximal preservation of encoding details. We conducted a comprehensive comparison of seven different classifier models and ultimately selected the XGBoost algorithm as the decoder. This algorithm leverages miRNA embedding features and disease embedding features to decode and predict the association scores between miRNAs and diseases. We applied MHXGMDA to predict human miRNA-disease associations on two benchmark datasets. Soil organic carbon and nitrogen play pivotal roles as indicators of soil quality and ecological functioning in wetlands. The escalating impact of human activities and climate change has led to a severe degradation of wetland soils, particularly in semi-arid regions. However, an understanding of the factors governing the dynamics of total soil organic carbon (TSOC) and total soil nitrogen (TSN) in semi-arid areas remains elusive, impeding a comprehensive understanding of wetland ecological functions. The present study investigated variations in TSOC and TSN content as well as vegetation and soil physicochemical properties under five different land management practices (mowed wetlands, mowed and slightly grazed wetlands, moderately grazed wetlands, heavily grazed wetlands, and natural wetlands unaffected by human interference) in the semi-arid Songnen Plain region of China. The results revealed significant decreases in TSOC and TSN content within managed wetlands compared to natural wetlands. Moreover, positive correlations were observed between pairs of SOC-TN or their storage values for SOC (TSOC)-TN (TSN). Furthermore, TSOC and TSN exhibited significant positive associations with aboveground and belowground biomass levels, stem C:N, stem C:P, soil C:P, and soil N:P. Additionally, redundancy analysis indicated that species diversity accounted for 37.4% of the variations in TSOC-TSN while belowground biomass accounted for 8.5% of the variations. Furthermore, nutrient content within stems (particularly N content and C:P) contributed to a 37.2% variation in TSOC and TSN whereas root nutrient content (especially N:P, C:N, and C:P) contributed to a 15.3% variation. Soil C:P, C:N, and total phosphorous (TP) content accounted for 65.7%, 9.6%, and 7.5% of variations of TSOC and TSN, respectively. Besides, variation partitioning analysis revealed that plant community characteristics, community nutrient content, and soil physicochemical properties collectively influenced the dynamics of TSOC and TSN. Among these factors, soil physicochemical properties emerged as the primary drivers of carbon and nitrogen dynamics in degraded wetlands in semi-arid regions. The impact on TSN was more pronounced than that of TSOC. Objectives: To investigate the pathological contribution of vocal fold leukoplakia (VFL) of type II in narrow-band imaging (NBI) classification and morphological characteristics to improve pathological prediction. Material and Methods: The 59 VFL patients with type II in 2019 Ni classification in NBI were included. The pathological reports were collected and divided following 2005 WHO Blue Book. Low-risk VFL contained non-, mild, moderate dysplasia, high-risk VFL included severe dysplasia. The morphological classification and laryngoscopic scoring system were employed to evaluate leukoplakia for pathological prediction. Results: The pathologies contained 1 case of leukoplakia with non-dysplasia, 12 of mild dysplasia, 15 of moderate dysplasia, 8 of severe dysplasia, and 23 of carcinoma. The 30 smooth VFL contained 1 non-dysplasia, 12 mild dysplasia, 14 moderate dysplasia, 2 severe dysplasia, and 1 carcinoma. The 29 rough cases included 1 moderate dysplasia, 6 severe dysplasia, and 22 carcinomas. Laryngoscopic scoring system revealed irregular texture, large size, and thick lesion as factors in relationship with high-risk leukoplakia in univariate ( P = .002, <.001, <.001) and multivariate ( P = .025, .002, .016) analysis, irregular texture was the most accurate predictor of high-risk VFL pathology. Conclusions and Significance: The pathologies of VFL with type II in NBI classification were hard to be predicted. Phase-change nanodroplets (PCNDs) are customizable and controllable theranostic agents of particular interest in extravascular therapies such as drug delivery and histotripsy. High-bulk-boiling-point (HBP) PCNDs are preferred for their enhanced thermal stability under physiological temperature to achieve on-demand therapeutic effects on target sites - mainly in tumor tissue. However, the behavioral patterns of high-concentration, heterogeneously distributed HBP PCNDs in vivo have rarely been explored - the foci of PCNDs-related therapies mostly fall on the final therapeutic effect rather than the detailed behaviors of PCNDs, which may hamper the development and improvement of in vivo treatments with PCNDs. To fill the gap, we demonstrate an ultrasound-only extravascular monitoring technique to analyze the underlying behavioral patterns of intratumorally-injected HBP PCNDs. In our hypothesis, recondensation and coalescence are the two predominant patterns influencing the trend of the post-activation signal of PCNDs. A "blink map" method was thus proposed to separate the two parts of the signal by recognizing the unique signal pattern of stochastic recondensation, and four derivative metrics were calculated for further analysis. The results revealed the post-activation patterns of PCNDs at different activation-pulse durations and activation stages throughout the activation-imaging period, and several general trends were observed and explained by existing theories, suggesting the feasibility of our extravascular monitoring technique. Overall, this work enriches the knowledge of the characteristics of HBP PCNDs as extravascular theranostic agents, and the monitoring results have the potential to provide timely feedback on PCNDs-related treatments underway, which may help adjust the treatment strategy and improve the therapeutic efficacy.

Restoration measures have been widely implemented in wetland ecosystems globally to bend the curve of biodiversity loss and restore associated ecological functions. However, assessments of the effectiveness of wetland restoration have predominantly focused on the recovery of taxonomic composition, while few studies have assessed the effectiveness of these efforts from a food web perspective. Here, we incorporated stable isotope approach to investigate trophic structure in natural and restored wetlands in Northeast China. The investigated consumers, including zooplankton, macroinvertebrates, and fish, exhibited lower δ 15 N and higher δ 13 C values in restored wetlands than in natural wetlands. Natural wetlands exhibited higher trophic positions and a wider range of trophic levels compared to restored wetlands. Primary consumers in natural wetlands relied more on particulate organic matter (POM, 42.9 % ± 24.1 %), while those in restored wetlands were more dependent on substrate organic matter (SOM, 42.3 % ± 23.9 %). Compared to natural wetlands, isotopic richness was significantly lower in restored wetlands, with smaller isotopic variation (SEAs) in basal resources, aquatic invertebrates, and fish. Our findings reveal that the recovery of trophic structures in restored wetlands lags behind that of taxonomic composition. Future restoration efforts should prioritize enhancing habitat heterogeneity and resource availability to support a diverse range of trophic levels. The growing concern regarding widespread plastic pollution has propelled the development of sustainable self-healing plastics. Although considerable efforts have been dedicated to fabricating self-healing plastics, achieving rapid healing at room temperature is extremely challenging. Herein, we have developed an ultra-fast-healing glassy polyurethane (UGPU) by designing a hyperbranched molecular structure with a high density of multiple hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) on compliant acyclic heterochains and introducing trace water to form water bridge across the fractured surfaces. The compliant acyclic heterochains allow the dense multiple hydrogen bonds to form a frozen network, enabling tensile strength of up to 70 MPa and storage modulus of 2.5 GPa. The hyperbranched structure can drive the reorganization of the H-bonding network through the high mobility of the branched chains and terminals, thereby leading to self-healing ability at room temperature. Intriguingly, the presence of trace water vapor facilitates the formation of activated layers and the rearrangement of networks across the fractured UGPU sections, thereby enabling ultra-fast self-healing at room temperature. Consequently, the restored tensile strength after healing for 1 minute achieves a historic-record of 26.4 MPa. Objectives: To establish a combined classification based on intrapapillary capillary loops (IPCLs) and morphological characteristics to improve the accuracy of pathological prediction of vocal fold leukoplakia (VFL)., Material and Methods: A prospective research was conducted of VFL patients diagnosed by IPCLs and morphology. The VFL cases were classified as Type I-III based on IPCLs and morphological characteristics. Type I referred to VFL with dendritic vessels but not IPCLs. Type II defined VFL without any IPCLs or vessels and classified by morphology into two subtypes as non-rough Type IIa and rough Type IIb. Type III referred to VFL with IPCLs and classified into two subtypes as Type IIIa with small IPCLs and Type IIIb with large IPCLs or vascular distortion in or around lesions. Predicting pathology accuracy was analyzed., Results: 182 eligible patients were recruited. The prediction accuracy rates of VFL pathology were 81.5% according to the 2019 Ni classification. The combined classification includes 4 cases of Type I, 28 Type IIa, 35 Type IIb, 56 Type IIIa, and 59 Type IIIb VFLs. The prediction accuracy rate of combined classification ranged from 95.1% to 97.3% in three observers. The average sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value was 97.8%, 86.2%, 97.4%, 88.2%, respectively. Spliceosomal GTPase elongation factor Tu GTP binding domain containing 2 (EFTUD2) is a causative gene for mandibulofacial dysostosis with microcephaly (MFDM) syndrome comprising cerebellar hypoplasia and motor dysfunction. How EFTUD2 deficiency contributes to these symptoms remains elusive. Here, we demonstrate that specific ablation of Eftud2 in cerebellar Purkinje cells (PCs) in mice results in severe ferroptosis, PC degeneration, dyskinesia, and cerebellar atrophy, which recapitulates phenotypes observed in patients with MFDM. Mechanistically, Eftud2 promotes Scd1 and Gch1 expression, upregulates monounsaturated fatty acid phospholipids, and enhances antioxidant activity, thereby suppressing PC ferroptosis. Importantly, we identified transcription factor Atf4 as a downstream target to regulate anti-ferroptosis effects in PCs in a p53-independent manner. Inhibiting ferroptosis efficiently rescued cerebellar deficits in Eftud2 cKO mice. As a product combining information and communication technology, digital technology, and traditional trade, digital trade represents a new form of international trade development in the context of economic globalization. As its scale continues to expand, digital trade not only profoundly impacts consumer health behaviors and environmental pollution control but also enhances opportunities for residents to access healthcare products and services. This could potentially have a significant promoting effect on residents' health levels. However, the extent and mechanisms through which digital trade affects residents' health remain unclear. Accordingly, this study fills in a gap in the research by calculating the provincial-level digital trade index for China from 2012-2020 and matching it with data from the China Family Panel Studies. The goal is to find the micro-causal mechanisms of digital trade on residents' health from green consumption and environmental improvement perspectives. The results show that digital trade reduces residents' medical expenses and improves their health. We use a quasi-natural experiment by treating the cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone as a digital trade treatment group and conducting a difference-in-differences estimation, finding that the health effects of digital trade remain significant. Heterogeneity indicates that the health effects of digital trade are powerful for middle- and high-income households and rural residents. In the east and center, in regions with well-developed transportation infrastructure and digital financial inclusion, the development of digital trade is more conducive to residents' health. Additionally, we demonstrate that digital trade can affect residents' health by promoting green consumption, eliminating energy poverty (i.e., improving indoor air pollution), and enhancing environmental quality (i.e., improving outdoor environmental pollution). Microglia are essential for maintaining homeostasis and responding to pathological events in the central nervous system (CNS). Their dynamic and multidimensional states in different environments are pivotal factors in various CNS disorders. However, therapeutic modulation of microglial states is challenging due to the intricate balance these cells maintain in the CNS environment and the blood-brain barrier's restriction of drug delivery. Nanomedicine presents a promising avenue for addressing these challenges, offering a method for the targeted and efficient modulation of microglial states. This review covers the challenges faced in microglial therapeutic modulation and potential use of nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems. We provide an in-depth examination of nanoparticle applications for modulating microglial states in a range of CNS disorders, encompassing neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases, infections, traumatic injuries, stroke, tumors, chronic pain, and psychiatric conditions. GNSS spoofing has become a significant security vulnerability threatening remote sensing systems. Hardware fingerprint-based GNSS receiver identification is one of the solutions to address this security issue. However, existing research has not provided a solution for distinguishing GNSS receivers of the same specification. This paper first theoretically proves that the CSACs (Chip-Scale Atomic Clocks) used in GNSS receivers have unique hardware noise and then proposes a fingerprinting scheme based on this hardware noise. Experiments based on the neural network method demonstrate that this fingerprint achieved an identification accuracy of 94.60% for commercial GNSS receivers of the same specification and performed excellently in anomaly detection, confirming the robustness of the fingerprinting method. This method shows a new real-time GNSS security monitoring method based on CSACs and can be easily used with any commercial GNSS receivers.

Background: High-altitude cerebral edema (HACE) is considered an end-stage acute mountain sickness (AMS) that typically occurs in people after rapid ascent to 2500 m or more. While hypoxia is a fundamental feature of the pathophysiological mechanism of HACE, emerging evidence suggests that inflammation serves as a key risk factor in the occurrence and development of this disease. However, little is known about the molecular mechanism underlying their crosstalk., Methods: A mouse HACE model was established by combination treatment with hypobaric hypoxia exposure and lipopolysaccharides (LPS) stimulation. Lactylated-proteomic analysis of microglia was performed to reveal the global profile of protein lactylation. Molecular modeling was applied to evaluate the 3-D modeling structures. A combination of experimental approaches, including western blotting, quantitative real-time reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), confocal microscopy and RNA interference, were used to explore the underlying molecular mechanisms., Results: We found that hypoxia exposure increased the lactate concentration and lactylation in mouse HACE model. Moreover, hypoxia aggravated the microglial neuroinflammatory response in a lactate-dependent manner. Global profiling of protein lactylation has shown that a large quantity of lysine-lactylated proteins are induced by hypoxia and preferentially occur in protein complexes, such as the NuRD complex, ribosome biogenesis complex, spliceosome complex, and DNA replication complex. The molecular modeling data indicated that lactylation could affect the 3-D theoretical structure and increase the solvent accessible surface area of HDAC1, MTA1 and Gatad2b, the core members of the NuRD complex. Further analysis by knockdown or selectively inhibition indicated that the NuRD complex is involved in hypoxia-mediated aggravation of inflammation., Conclusions: These results revealed a comprehensive profile of protein lactylation in microglia and suggested that protein lysine lactylation plays an important role in the regulation of protein function and subsequently contributes to the neuroinflammatory response under hypoxic conditions., (© 2024. Social memory has been developed in humans and other animals to recognize familiar conspecifics and is essential for their survival and reproduction. Here, we demonstrated that parvalbumin-positive neurons in the sensory thalamic reticular nucleus (sTRN Pvalb ) are necessary and sufficient for mice to memorize conspecifics. sTRN Pvalb neurons receiving glutamatergic projections from the posterior parietal cortex (PPC) transmit individual information by inhibiting the parafascicular thalamic nucleus (PF). Mice in which the PPC CaMKII →sTRN Pvalb →PF circuit was inhibited exhibited a disrupted ability to discriminate familiar conspecifics from novel ones. More strikingly, a subset of sTRN Pvalb neurons with high electrophysiological excitability and complex dendritic arborizations is involved in the above corticothalamic pathway and stores social memory. Single-cell RNA sequencing revealed the biochemical basis of these subset cells as a robust activation of protein synthesis. Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Liujunzi formula has been used to treat liver cancer in China for many years, but its underlying mechanism remains unclear. We previously found that decreased expression of miR-122-3p was associated with liver cancer. In this study, we aimed to explore the target of miR-122-3p and the effect of the Liujunzi formula on miR-122-3p and its downstream events in liver cancer., Material and Methods: Bioinformatics pinpointed potential targets of miR-122-3p. The actual target was confirmed by miRNA mimic/inhibitor transfections and a dual-luciferase reporter assay. RNA-seq looked at downstream genes impacted by this target. Flow cytometry checked for changes in T cell apoptosis levels after exposing them to liver cancer cells. Gene expression was measured by RT-qPCR, western blotting, and immunofluorescence staining., Results: Cell experiments found the Liujunzi extract (LJZ) upregulated miR-122-3p and in a dose-dependent manner. Bioinformatics analysis found UBE2I was a potential target of miR-122-3p, which was validated through experiments using miRNA mimics/inhibitors and a dual-luciferase reporter assay. RNA-seq data implicated the NF-κB pathway as being downstream of the miR-122-3p/UBE2I axis, further confirmed by forcing overexpression of UBE2I. Bioinformatic evidence suggested a link between UBE2I and T cell infiltration in liver cancer. Given that the NF-κB pathway drives PD-L1 expression, which can inhibit T cell infiltration, we investigated whether PD-L1 is a downstream effector of miR-122-3p/UBE2I. This was corroborated through mining public databases, UBE2I overexpression studies, and tumor-T cell co-culture assays. In addition, we also confirmed that LJZ downregulates UBE2I and NF-κB/PD-L1 pathways through miR-122-3p. LJZ also suppressed SUMOylation in liver cancer cells and protected PD-1 + T cells from apoptosis induced by co-culture with tumor cells. Strikingly, a miR-122-3p inhibitor abrogated LJZ's effects on UBE2I and PD-L1, and UBE2I overexpression rescued the LJZ-mediated effects on NF-κB and PD-L1., Conclusions: miR-122-3p targets UBE2I, thereby suppressing the NF-κB signaling cascade and downregulating PD-L1 expression, which potentiates anti-tumor immune responses. Numerous factors influence mountain biodiversity variation across elevational gradients and recognizing the relative importance is vital for understanding species distribution mechanisms. We examined oribatid mites at nine elevations (from 600 to 2200 m a.s.l) and four vegetation types from mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests to alpine tundra on Changbai Mountain. We assessed the contribution of environmental factors (climatic and local factors) and spatial processes (geographic or elevation distances) to oribatid mite community assembly and identified 59 oribatid mite species from 38 families and 51 genera. With increasing elevation, species richness and the Shannon index declined significantly, whereas abundance followed a hump-shaped trend. Soil TP, NH 4 + -N, MAT, MAP, and elevation were the critical variables shaping oribatid mite communities based on random forest analysis. Moreover, environmental and spatial factors, and oribatid mite communities were significantly correlated based on Mantel and partial Mantel tests. Local characteristics (3.9%), climatic factors (1.9%), and spatial filtering (8.8%) played crucial roles in determining oribatid mite communities across nine elevational bands (based on variation partitioning analyses of abundance data). Within the same vegetation types, spatial processes had relatively little effects, with local characteristics the dominant drivers of oribatid mite community variation. Environmental and spatial filters together shape oribatid mite community assembly and their relative roles varied with elevation and vegetation type. Background: Disorders of consciousness (DoC) represent a spectrum of neurological conditions that pose significant treatment challenges. Percutaneous short-term spinal cord stimulation (SCS) has emerged as a promising experimental diagnostic treatment to assess and potentially improve consciousness levels. However, the effectiveness of this intervention is frequently compromised by the shift of electrodes, particularly in the cervical region, which can negatively affect therapeutic outcomes., Methods: This retrospective study aimed to study if electrodes shift in percutaneous short-term SCS in patients with DoC would affect the outcome. We analyzed the relationship between electrode shift length and patient outcome, as well as the correlation with various anatomical parameters, including the actual length of the cervical spine, linear length, spinal canal transverse diameter, spinal canal diameter, and C2 cone height, in a cohort of patients undergoing the procedure., Results: Our findings revealed that in patients with better outcome, there are significant less patient with electrode shift ( p  = 0.019). Further, a linear correlation was found between the length of electrode shift and patients' outcome (Rho = 0.583, p  = 0.002), with longer shift lengths associated with poorer outcomes. Contrary to our expectations, there was no significant association between the measured anatomical parameters and the extent of electrode shift. However, a trend was found between the actual length of the cervical spine and the shift of the electrode ( p  = 0.098). Notably, the shorter spinal canal transverse diameter was found to be significantly associated with better outcome in patients with DoC receiving percutaneous short-term SCS ( p  = 0.033)., Conclusion: These results highlight the clinical importance of electrode stability in the cervical region during SCS treatment for patients with DoC. Ensuring secure placement of electrodes may play a crucial role in enhancing patients' outcome and minimize postoperative complications. Understanding diversity patterns and underlying drivers is one of the central topics in the fields of biogeography and community ecology. Aquatic macroinvertebrates are widely distributed in various wetlands and play vital ecological roles. Previous studies mainly have focused on macroinvertebrate diversity in a single type of wetland. Our understanding of the differences in diversity patterns and underlying drivers between different wetland types remains limited. Here, we compared diversity patterns and community assembly of floodplain wetlands (FWs) and non-floodplain wetlands (NWs) in the Sanjiang Plain, Northeast China. We found that the taxonomic richness and abundance were higher in NWs than those in FWs. Nineteen taxa were identified as habitat specialists in the NWs, whereas only four taxa were designated as habitat specialists in the FWs. In addition, the FW and NW assemblages exhibited contrasting compositions. Spatial and environmental variables explained the largest variations in the macroinvertebrate assemblages of NWs and FWs, respectively. Normalised stochasticity ratios and Sloan neutral models confirmed that the macroinvertebrate community assembly of both wetland types was driven largely by stochastic processes. Stochastic processes were more prominent in shaping macroinvertebrate communities of FWs, whereas a stronger dispersal limitation was detected in NWs. Our results revealed contrasting diversity patterns and assembly mechanisms of macroinvertebrate communities in FWs and NWs. Introduction: Prolonged operation of construction equipment could lead to mental fatigue, which can increase the chances of human error-related accidents as well as operators' ill-health. The objective detection of operators' mental fatigue is crucial for reducing accident risk and ensuring operator health. Electroencephalography, photoplethysmography, electrodermal activity, and eye-tracking technology have been used to mitigate this issue. These technologies are invasive and wearable sensors that can cause irritation and discomfort. Geometric measurements of facial features can serve as a noninvasive alternative approach. Its application in detecting mental fatigue of construction equipment operators has not been reported in the literature. Although the application of facial features has been widespread in other domains, such as drivers and other occupation scenarios, their ecological validity for construction excavator operators remains a knowledge gap., Method: This study proposed employing geometric measurements of facial features to detect mental fatigue in construction equipment operators' facial features. In this study, seventeen operators performed excavation operations. Mental fatigue was labeled subjectively and objectively using NASA-TLX scores and EDA values. Based on geometric measurements, facial features (eyebrow, mouth outer, mouth corners, head motion, eye area, and face area) were extracted., Results: The results showed that there was significant difference in the measured metrics for high fatigue compared to low fatigue. High-speed 3D measurement is receiving increasing attention. However, simultaneously achieving high computational efficiency, algorithmic robustness, and reconstructing ratio is challenging. Therefore, a dynamic phase-differencing profilometry (DPDP) is proposed. By capturing the minimum three phase-shifting sinusoidal deformed patterns and establishing a brand-new model, the phase difference between the object on the reference plane and the reference plane is directly resolved to effectively improve computational efficiency. Although it is wrapped, by using only two auxiliary complementary gratings with a purposely designed lower frequency, a DPDP-based number-theoretical temporal phase unwrapping (NT-TPU) algorithm is also proposed to unwrap the wrapped phase difference rather than the phase itself with high robustness. Furthermore, compared to existing PSP-based NT-TPU, the proposed NT-TPU can normally work under more relaxed restrictions. In order to accomplish a high reconstructing ratio, a pentabasic interleaved projection (PIP) strategy based on time division multiplexing is proposed. It can improve the reconstructing ratio from one reconstruction per every five patterns to an equivalent of one reconstruction per every 1.67 patterns. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves high computational efficiency, high algorithmic robustness, and high reconstructing ratio simultaneously and has prospective application in high-speed 3D measurement.

Sign language is an important way to provide expression information to people with hearing and speaking disabilities. Therefore, sign language recognition has always been a very important research topic. However, many sign language recognition systems currently require complex deep models and rely on expensive sensors, which limits the application scenarios of sign language recognition. To address this issue, based on computer vision, this study proposed a lightweight, dual-path background erasing deep convolutional neural network (DPCNN) model for sign language recognition. The DPCNN consists of two paths. One path is used to learn the overall features, while the other path learns the background features. The background features are gradually subtracted from the overall features to obtain an effective representation of hand features. Then, these features are flatten into a one-dimensional layer, and pass through a fully connected layer with an output unit of 128. Finally, use a fully connected layer with an output unit of 24 as the output layer. Based on the ASL Finger Spelling dataset, the total accuracy and Macro-F1 scores of the proposed method is 99.52% and 0.997, respectively. More importantly, the proposed method can be applied to small terminals, thereby improving the application scenarios of sign language recognition. Deciphering the biogeochemical coupling of multiple elements in soils could better mechanistic understanding of ecosystem stability response to the alien invasion. The coupling of 45 elements in soils from wetlands covered by Spartina alterniflora (Sa) was compared with that in soils covered by native Phragmites australis (Pa) in coastal regions of China. Results showed that S. alterniflora invasion not only significantly reshaped geochemical enrichment and dispersion states, but also decoupled the coupling of multiple elements in soils compared with Pa. Atomic mass emerged as the primary factor governing the coupling of multiple elements, of which a significantly positive correlation exhibited between atomic mass with elemental coupling in Pa, but no such relation was observed in SaThe coupling of lighter elements was more susceptible to and generally enhanced by the invasion of S. alterniflora compared to the heavier, of which carbon, iron (Fe), and cadmium (Cd) had the highest susceptibility. Besides atomic mass, biological processes (represented by soil organic carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur), interactions between sea and land (represented by salinity and pH), and their combination explained 17 %, 10 %, and 13 % variation in the coupling of multiple elements, respectively. Wetlands in China's coastal provinces are strategically positioned along migratory flyways for waterbirds, serving as essential habitats and stopover sites due to the expansive land area and abundant wetland resources they offer. This study aimed to introduce a simplified index system to enable rapid assessment and prioritization of unprotected areas for wetlands in China's coastal provinces. A spatial analysis was conducted, combining wetland distribution and existing protected areas data and spatial extent of wetlands extracted by remote sensing data. Results indicate substantial gaps in coverage, covering an area of 108.33 × 10 4  ha, with 76% being natural wetlands. Over half of these gaps are identified as high-value wetlands with significant ecological functions. The uneven distribution of unprotected wetlands reflects a tension between economic development and wetland conservation. Our findings support the expansion of the existing coastal wetland protected areas' coverage, as well as protecting critical habitats in conservation gaps, and establishing of a network-based waterbird protection system. Objectives: Polysomnography was class I test for who was suspected of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) which would cost lots of time and money. This study aimed to develop a nomogram model mainly based on oxygen and blood routine indicators to predict OSA. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 685 patients with suspected OSA at our hospital. Multivariate analysis was used to construct a nomogram. The performance of the nomogram was assessed using calibration and discrimination. Results: The multivariate analysis identified age, gender, body mass index, mean pulse oxygen saturation, percent nighttime with oxygen saturation less than 90%, red blood cell, hematocrit, and red blood cell distribution width SD as significant factors ( P < .05). A nomogram was created for the prediction of OSA using these clinical parameters and was internally validated using a bootstrapping method. Our nomogram model showed good discrimination and calibration in terms of predicting OSA, and had a C-index of 0.935 [95% confidence interval (CI), 0.917-0.954] according to the internal validation. Discrimination and calibration in the validation group were also good (C-index, 0.957; 95% CI, 0.930-0.984). Inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) is a rare and highly invasive form of breast cancer, renowned for its aggressive behavior, malignant capacity, and unfavorable prognosis. Despite considerable advancements in comprehending the underlying biology of IBC, the immune cell infiltration (ICI) profile in IBC remains inadequately elucidated. The current work endeavors to investigate the ICI characteristics of IBC and ascertain the pivotal immune cell subtypes and genes that impact its prognosis. The present study employed microarray data from the GEO database to demonstrate that IBC exhibited a lower abundance of activated mast cells (AMC) in comparison to non-inflammatory breast cancer (nIBC) or normal breast tissue (NBT). Additionally, the mRNA expression level of the gene polo-like kinase 5 (PLK5), which was correlated with AMC, was found to be lower in IBC relative to nIBC or NBT. Furthermore, this investigation provided compelling evidence indicating a potential association between a decreased mRNA expression level of PLK5 and a shorter progression-free survival in patients with breast cancer. The gene set enrichment analysis performed on PLK5 revealed that the gene expression in IBC was closely associated with diverse immune functions and pathways. Besides, a negative correlation has been established between PLK5 mRNA expression level and a majority of immune checkpoint-related genes, thereby suggesting the potential suitability of immunotherapy treatment for IBC. Oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) differentiate into myelin-producing cells and modulate neuronal activity. Defects in OPC development are associated with neurological diseases. N 6 -methyladenosine (m 6 A) contributes to neural development; however, the mechanism by which m 6 A regulates OPC development remains unclear. Here, we demonstrate that PRRC2B is an m 6 A reader that regulates OPC development and myelination. Nestin-Cre-mediated Prrc2b deletion affects neural stem cell self-renewal and glial differentiation. Moreover, the oligodendroglia lineage-specific deletion of Prrc2b reduces the numbers of OPCs and oligodendrocytes, causing hypomyelination and impaired motor coordination. Integrative methylated RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing, RNA sequencing, and RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing analyses identify Sox2 as the target of PRRC2B. Notably, PRRC2B, displaying separate and cooperative functions with PRRC2A, stabilizes mRNA by binding to m 6 A motifs in the coding sequence and 3' UTR of Sox2. Self-healing elastomers usually show poor mechanical properties and environmental stability, and they cannot self-report mechanical/chemical damage. Herein, an innovative design strategy is reported that combines symmetric/asymmetric chain extenders to create large yet disordered hard domains within polyurethane (PU) elastomers, enabling the integration of mechanical robustness and self-reporting and self-healing capabilities to overcome both mechanical and chemical damage. Specifically, large yet disordered hard domains were created by governing the molar contents of asymmetric fluorescent 2-(4-aminophenyl)-5-aminobenzimidazole (PABZ) and symmetric 4-aminophenyl disulfide (APDS). Such a structural feature led to a small free-volume fraction, prominent strain-induced crystallization (SIC), and high energy of dissipation, enabling the PU elastomer to display outstanding mechanical strength (60.7 MPa) and toughness (177.9 MJ m -3 ). Meanwhile, the loose stacking of disordered hard domains imposed small restriction on network chains and imparted the network with high relaxation dynamics, leading to high healing efficiency (97.8%). More importantly, the fluorescence intensity was stimulus-responsive and thus the PU elastomer could self-report mechanical/chemical damage and healing processes. The PU elastomer also showed potential application prospects in information encoding and encryption. Furthermore, selecting polydimethylsiloxane as one of the soft segments could effectively endow the PU elastomer with intrinsic hydrophobicity. Therefore, this work provides valuable guidance for designing multi-functional materials with anti-counterfeiting, self-reporting, and healing properties as well as high mechanical properties and hydrophobicity.

Herein, using an electrophoretic deposition strategy, a S-scheme CdS (cubic)/BiVO 4 (monoclinic) heterostructured photocatalyst is fabricated. The as-synthesized photocatalysts exhibit high carrier separation efficiency, prominent hydrogen evolution ability and high stability. The results of the detailed density functional theory (DFT) prove that the photogenerated electrons and holes are located in BiVO 4 and CdS components, respectively. Besides, an explicit solvent model based on the electron-enriched region in CdS/BiVO 4 heterojunction is designed deliberately to investigate the solid/liquid interface issues. Intriguing findings demonstrate that the surface hydrogen diffusing rate in CdS/BiVO 4 /H 2 O is faster than that of BiVO 4 /H 2 O and is highly associated with the electron-enrich effect, which has a greater capacity to promote water decomposition, the possibility of proton collision and photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. As contaminants of emerging concern, microplastics (MPs) are ubiquitously present in almost all environmental compartments of the earth, with terrestrial soil ecosystems as the major sink for these contaminants. The accumulation of MPs in the soil can trigger a wide range of effects on soil physical, chemical, and microbial properties, which may in turn cause alterations in the biogeochemical processes of some key elements, such as carbon and nitrogen. Until recently, the effects of MPs on the cycling of carbon and nitrogen in terrestrial soil ecosystems have yet to be fully understood, which necessitates a review to summarize the current research progress and propose suggestions for future studies. The presence of MPs can affect the contents and forms of soil carbon and nitrogen nutrients (e.g., total and dissolved organic carbon, dissolved organic nitrogen, NH 4 + -N, and NO 3 - -N) and the emissions of CH 4 , CO 2 , and N 2 O by altering soil microbial communities, functional gene expressions, and enzyme activities. Exposure to MPs can also affect plant growth and physiological processes, consequently influencing carbon fixation and nitrogen uptake. Specific effects of MPs on carbon and nitrogen cycling and the associated microbial parameters can vary considerably with MP properties (e.g., dose, polymer type, size, shape, and aging status) and soil types, while the mechanisms of interaction between MPs and soil microbes remain unclear. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate sleep patterns and investigate differences in clinical features among young individuals with snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)., Methods: Data from 213 children and adolescents who underwent polysomnography (PSG) for primary snoring or OSA were collected between July 2017 and December 2021. To analyze differences in sleep architecture, hypoxia levels, and other clinical features, the participants were divided into two age groups: a preschool group and a school-age group., Results: The school-age group had significantly higher apnea-hypopnea index, obstructive apnea index, oxygen desaturation index, and body mass index than the preschool group. Both the lowest and average oxygen saturation levels were lower in the school-age group. Adenoid hypertrophy was more prevalent in the preschool group. The rate of overweight or obesity was 35.6% in the preschool group and even 94.2% in the school-age group. There were higher percentages of N1 and N2 sleep stages, and lower percentages of N3 and REM sleep stages in the school-age group. The groups exhibiting moderate to severe OSA demonstrated significant alterations in the difference between sleeping and waking diastolic blood pressure., Conclusion: There is a higher frequency of respiratory events among school-age children compared with their preschool peers. Moreover, alterations in sleep structure are more prominent in the school-age group. Background: The primary objective of this investigation was to assess the impact of pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase 1 (PYCR1) on the progression of gastric cancer (GC), specifically focusing on tumor growth and metastatic potential., Methods: Surgical specimens from patients with different stages of GC were assayed for PYCR1 expression using immunohistochemistry. PYCR1 expression was manipulated by depletion or overexpression approaches in GC cells, and these cells were applied to explore the functional roles of PYCR1. Expression of apoptosis- and metastasis-related markers was quantified through quantitative real-time PCR and Western blot., Results: Higher PYCR1 expression was ascertained in surgical specimens from patients with GC as compared to noncancerous adjacent tissues. Additionally, PYCR1 overexpression in GC tissues was linked to adverse clinical outcomes. The depletion of PYCR1 in GC cells resulted in a pronounced reduction in proliferation, the induction of apoptosis, and the attenuation of invasion and metastasis. Conversely, its ectopic expression notably augmented proliferation, restricted apoptosis, and stimulated invasion and metastasis. In addition, the knockdown of PYCR1 resulted in a significant elevation in the activation of caspase 3, a key protein involved in apoptosis. This depletion also led to a decrease in the activation or expression of proteins associated with metastasis, such as phosphorylated (p)-phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), p-AKT serine/threonine kinase (AKT), and snail family transcriptional repressor 1 (Snail). Additionally, it resulted in an upregulation of E-cadherin expression. Conversely, the overexpression of PYCR1 notably increased the levels of p-PI3K, p-AKT, and Snail, while simultaneously reducing E-cadherin expression., Conclusion: PYCR1, by activating PI3K/AKT signaling, assumes a crucial role in governing malignant characteristics of GC cells, including proliferation, apoptosis, and metastasis. River-floodplain ecosystems are highly complex and dynamic systems that are subjected to human disturbance, such as the construction of levees. Aquatic insects are among the most widely used indicators to assess human impacts on floodplain wetlands. Most studies are still based on taxonomic biodiversity. However, trait-based approaches remain limited, which could impede the development of effective management strategies. Here, we investigated aquatic insect assemblages in eleven pairs of wetlands along the Wusuli River in two seasons (Spring and Autumn) and assessed their responses to the impact of levee construction, considering taxonomic and functional diversity. We found that pooled species richness (73 taxa) in river-connected wetlands was almost twice of that in levee-blocked wetlands (37 taxa). Six and one indicator taxa for river-connected wetlands were identified in May and October, respectively, while no indicator taxon for the levee-blocked wetlands was identified. Moreover, taxonomic and functional alpha diversity in river-connected wetlands was much higher than in levee-blocked wetlands, but beta diversity showed a contrasting pattern. Additionally, multivariate dispersion analysis indicated a more evident difference in beta diversity between river-connected and levee-blocked wetlands in May than in October, likely due to the temporary lateral connection in summer (i.e., water flowed over levees during flood events). Our results revealed that anthropogenic impacts (e.g., levee construction and agricultural activity) weakened the connectivity of floodplain wetland ecosystems, leading to decreased taxonomic and functional diversity of aquatic insects in isolated wetlands. Our study highlights the importance of combining taxonomic and trait-based approaches in biomonitoring programs of floodplain wetland ecosystems. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with various health complications, and snoring is a prominent characteristic of this disorder. Therefore, the exploration of a concise and effective method for detecting snoring has consistently been a crucial aspect of sleep medicine. As the easily accessible data, the identification of snoring through sound analysis offers a more convenient and straightforward method. The objective of this study was to develop a convolutional neural network (CNN) for classifying snoring and non-snoring events based on audio. This study utilized Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs) as a method for extracting features during the preprocessing of raw data. In order to extract multi-scale features from the frequency domain of sound sources, this study proposes the utilization of a multi-branch convolutional neural network (MBCNN) for the purpose of classification. The network utilized asymmetric convolutional kernels to acquire additional information, while the adoption of one-hot encoding labels aimed to mitigate the impact of labels. The experiment tested the network's performance by utilizing a publicly available dataset consisting of 1,000 sound samples. The test results indicate that the MBCNN achieved a snoring detection accuracy of 99.5%. The integration of multi-scale features and the implementation of MBCNN, based on audio data, have demonstrated a substantial improvement in the performance of snoring classification.

The out-of-loop timing jitter exhibited in free-running Ti:sapphire mode-locked lasers with attosecond resolution is demonstrated using an optical heterodyne technique. To assess the feasibility of the experiment and discrimination signal properties, numerical simulations were conducted for Ti:sapphire mode-locked lasers. For accurately characterizing the genuine phase noise exhibited by Ti:sapphire mode-locked lasers, out-of-loop measurements were conducted, and a straightforward yet improved optical heterodyne setup was employed, allowing simultaneous low-bandwidth locking and out-of-loop timing jitter measurements with two Ti:sapphire mode-locked lasers. The out-of-loop phase noise floor for a single mode-locked laser reaches -203.47 d B c / H z , assuming a 10 GHz carrier frequency. Additionally, the out-of-loop integrated timing jitter is 11.9 a s from 10 kHz to the Nyquist frequency (50 M H z ).

Intestinal commensal microbiota dysbiosis and immune dysfunction are significant exacerbating factors in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). To address these problems, Pluronic F-127-coated tungsten diselenide (WSe 2 @F127) nanozymes are developed by simple liquid-phase exfoliation. The abundant valence transitions of elemental selenium (Se 2- /Se 4+ ) and tungsten (W 4+ /W 6+ ) enable the obtained WSe 2 @F127 nanozymes to eliminate reactive oxygen/nitrogen species. In addition, the released tungsten ions are capable of inhibiting the proliferation of Escherichia coli. In a model of dextran sodium sulfate-induced colitis, WSe 2 @F127 nanozymes modulate the gut microbiota by increasing the abundance of bacteria S24-7 and significantly reducing the abundance of Enterobacteriaceae. Moreover, WSe 2 @F127 nanozymes inhibit T-cell differentiation and improve intestinal immune barrier function in a model of Crohn's disease. The prevalence of microplastics in soil ecosystems has raised concerns about their potential effects on soil properties. As promising alternatives to conventional plastics, biodegradable plastics have been increasingly applied in agricultural activities, which may release microplastics into the soil due to incomplete degradation. Compared to conventional microplastics, biodegradable microplastics in soil may induce different impacts on soil microbial properties, which have yet to be well studied. Through a 41-day microcosm experiment, we evaluated the differential effects of conventional (polypropylene, PP) and biodegradable (polylactic acid, PLA) microplastics on the geochemical properties, enzyme activities, and microbial community structure in paddy soil. Adding PLA or PP microplastics into soil significantly increased pH values and altered the contents of carbon and nitrogen nutrients. Exposure to microplastics significantly increased the activity of fluorescein diacetate hydrolase, but had varying effects on the activities of urease, sucrase, and alkaline phosphatase depending on microplastic types and doses. The addition of microplastics also influenced the structure of soil bacterial community, with Proteobacteria, Actinobacteriota, and Acidobacteriota being the dominant phyla. Significant differences in the genera of Pseudarthrobacter, Acidothermus, Bacillus, Aquisphaera, and Massilia were observed between treatments. Results of structural equation modeling (SEM) demonstrated that changes in soil carbon and nitrogen nutrients and pH values positively affected the bacterial community, while soil bacterial community as a whole exerted a negative impact on enzyme activities. FAPRPTAX analysis showed that the addition of microplastics altered the relative abundances of functional genes related to the metabolism of cellulose decomposition and ureolysis in paddy soil. Climate change is resulting in significant modifications of the altitudinal patterns of soil fauna in mountains, leading to their upward invasion and alteration of soil ecological processes. However, the effects of soil greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from soil mesofauna invasion and their driving mechanisms have not been clearly understood. To address this knowledge gap, we simulated a soil mesofauna invasion from an Erman's birch forest (EB) to the alpine tundra (AT) of the Changbai Mountain in Northeast China. Four treatments were established: no soil mesofauna (S0), native species (SN), invasive species (SI), and invasive species superposed native species (SS). We conducted a 79-day microcosm experiment, utilizing gas chromatography and high-throughput sequencing, to explore the variations in soil greenhouse gas emissions and their driving factors. Results showed that the cumulative CO 2 emissions under SN, SI, and SS, compared with S0, increased by 34.13 %, 73.93 %, and 107.64 % and cumulative N 2 O emissions increased by 59.05 %, 101.18 %, and 183.88 %, respectively. Compared to SN, the cumulative emissions of CO 2 and N 2 O increased by 29.89 % and 26.31 % under SI and by 54.91 % and 78.59 % under SS, respectively. The impacts of invasive species and native species on greenhouse gases were not a simple additive effect. Abiotic (soil variables) and biotic (soil mesofauna and microbial diversity) factors explained 37.76 % and 44.41 % of the total variations in CO 2 and N 2 O emissions, respectively, in which NH 4 + -N and C: N ratios contributed the largest variations. The contribution of soil mesofauna diversity to the variations in CO 2 and N 2 O emissions was higher than that of microbial diversity. The bacterial network graph density was correlated with soil CO 2 and N 2 O emissions. Acetaminophen (APAP) overdose is steadily becoming the chief reason for drug-induced acute liver failure, yet limited treatment is currently clinically available. Considering that the mechanism of APAP-induced hepatotoxicity is inseparable from oxidative stress and inflammation, a biocompatible Mn 3 O 4 nanozyme mimicking superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activities and possessing reactive oxygen species (ROS)-scavenging capacity and antiapoptotic properties, is reported herein as a promising nanodrug to treat APAP-induced liver injury (AILI). Possessing bioactive enzyme-like functions, Mn 3 O 4 nanoparticles (NPs) can not only reduce the oxidative stress on the liver by decreasing ROS accumulation but also downregulate the infiltration of inflammatory macrophages that secrete proinflammatory cytokines (tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1β, and interleukin-6). Notably, the bifunctional Mn 3 O 4 NPs mediate nuclear factor-erythroid 2 p45-related factor 2 signaling pathway activation and nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathway inhibition to effectively prevent the already fragile APAP-overdosed murine hepatocytes from being attacked again, thus mitigating hepatocyte apoptosis and alleviating APAP-induced liver damage. Background: Attention provides the foundation for cognitions, which was shown to be affected by microwave (MW) radiation. With the ubiquitous of microwaves, public concerns regarding the impact of MW radiation on attention has hence been increased. Our study aims to investigate the potential effect and mechanism of acute microwave exposure on attention., Results: We identified obvious impairment of attention in mice by the five-choice serial reaction time (5-CSRT) task. Proteomic analysis of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) revealed neuroinflammation and microglial activation potentially due to acute MW exposure. Moreover, biochemical analysis further confirmed microglial activation in the prefrontal cortex (PFC) of mice subjected to acute MW exposure. Finally, minocycline, a commercially available anti-inflammatory compound, attenuated neuroinflammation, inhibited the upregulation of N-methyl-D-aspartic acid receptor (NMDAR) including NR2A and NR2B, and also accelerated the attentional recovery after MW exposure., Conclusions: We believe that microglial activation and NMDAR upregulation likely contribute to inattention induced by acute MW exposure, and we found that minocycline may be effective in preventing such process., (© 2023. In the realm of photocatalysis, understanding the interface issues (solid/solid and solid/liquid) inherent in heterojunction at the atomic level is the ultimate for engineering an efficient photocatalyst. Herein, an electrophoretic deposition technique is adopted to synthesize BiOI/β-Bi 2 O 3 heterojunction, exhibiting superior photocatalytic activity and stability in H 2 evolution (91.5 μmol g -1 h -1 ) and H 2 O 2 production (11.3 mg L -1 h -1 ). Combined with the experimental and computational results, a lower free energy of hydrogen evolution reaction (252.4 meV) has been observed contrast to BiOI and β-Bi 2 O 3 samples. A carrier transfer process of like S-scheme heterojunction is proposed based on density of states (DOS) and carrier distribution calculations. The theoretical calculations illustrate the transition dipole moment, migration and accumulation of carrier in BiOI/β-Bi 2 O 3 heterojunction. Subsequent ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) results of solid/liquid interface systems (BiOI/β-Bi 2 O 3 /H 2 O and β-Bi 2 O 3 /H 2 O) unravel the interface H 2 O (solvent) behaviors. The local aggregation of photo-generated electrons in BiOI/β-Bi 2 O 3 /H 2 O leads to a large potential drop, high proton migration rate and the steady electric double layer (EDL) structure compared to the β-Bi 2 O 3 /H 2 O, which facilitates the occurrence of photocatalytic reactions in solution. Temporal phase unwrapping based on single auxiliary binary coded pattern has been proven to be effective for high-speed 3D measurement. However, in traditional spatial binary coding, it often leads to an imbalance between the number of periodic divisions and codewords. To meet this challenge, a large codewords orthogonal spatial binary coding method is proposed in this paper. By expanding spatial multiplexing from 1D to 2D orthogonal direction, it goes beyond the traditional 8 codewords to 27 codewords at three-level periodic division. In addition, a novel full-period connected domain segmentation technique based on local localization is proposed to avoid the time-consuming global iterative erosion and complex anomaly detection in traditional methods. For the decoding process, a purely spatial codewords recognition and a spatial-temporal hybrid codewords recognition methods are established to better suppress the percentage offset caused by static defocusing and dynamic motion, respectively. Obviating the need for intricate symbol recognition, the decoding process in our proposed method encompasses a straightforward analysis of statistical distribution. Building upon the development of special spatial binary coding, we have achieved a well-balance between low periodic division and large codewords for the first time. The experimental results verify the feasibility and validity of our proposed whole image processing method in both static and dynamic measurements.

Sorafenib (SOR) is a molecular targeting agent commonly utilized as a primary treatment for advanced and inoperable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Regrettably, the effectiveness of SOR is frequently hindered by the resistance of multiple HCC cases. The current investigation endeavors to examine the potential of the natural product quercetin (QUE) in reversing the acquired resistance of SOR-resistant cells, known as Huh7 R , to SOR. Moreover, this study aims to elucidate the underlying molecular mechanism that contributes to this phenomenon. The results demonstrated that QUE significantly impeded proliferation and stimulated apoptosis in Huh7 R cells, while also suppressing the growth of transplanted tumors. The impact of QUE enhanced the efficacy of SOR treatment for Huh7 R . Additionally, bioinformatic and western blot analyses indicated that the underlying mechanisms may be associated with EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor resistance, the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, and HCC. Furthermore, molecular docking and dynamics simulation assays revealed that QUE exhibited strong affinity and stability towards its hub targets, EGFR and AKT1. It is noteworthy that the activation of EGFR by its ligand, EGF, mitigated the effects of co-treatment with QUE and SOR. These findings suggest that QUE might potentially serve as a therapeutic agent in treating as well as facilitating SOR against Huh7 R cells, which has substantial clinical and research implications for the treatment of acquired resistance to SOR in HCC., (© 2023. A polysaccharide CY-2 from C. yunnanensis was obtained through a process of consecutive water extraction, alcohol precipitation, and DEAE-52 fast-flow chromatography. CY-2, with an average molecular weight of 2.69 × 10 4  Da mainly consisted of glucose and mannose with a molar ratio of 33.5: 56.9. Infrared spectrum (IR), methylation analysis, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) results revealed that CY-2 may have a backbone consisting of →6)-α-D-Manp-(1 → 3)-β-D-Glcp-(1→, and branch chain β-D-Glcp-(1→. Meanwhile, CY-2 had a higher inhibition rate on α-glucosidase activity compared with other fractions (CY-0, CY-1, and CY-4) and was a mixed competitive inhibitor. In addition, CY-2 at the concentration of 10 μg/mL presented a superior power to improve glucose consumption and metabolism in HepG2 cells compared with metformin. Objective . Contrast-free microvascular imaging is clinically valuable for the assessment of physiological status and the early diagnosis of diseases. Effective clutter filtering is essential for microvascular visualization without contrast enhancement. Singular value decomposition (SVD)-based spatiotemporal filter has been widely used to suppress clutter. However, clinical real-time imaging relies on short ensembles (dozens of frames), which limits the implementation of SVD filtering due to the large error of eigen-correlated estimations and high dependence on optimal threshold when used in such ensembles. Approach . To address the above challenges of imaging in short ensembles, two optimized filters of angular domain data are proposed in this paper: grouped angle SVD (GA-SVD) and angular-coherence-based higher-order SVD (AC-HOSVD). GA-SVD applies SVD to the concatenation of all angular data to improve clutter rejection performance in short ensembles, while AC-HOSVD applies HOSVD to the angular data tensor and utilizes angular coherence in addition to spatial and temporal features for filtering. Feasible threshold selection strategies in each feature space are provided. The clutter rejection performance of the proposed filters and SVD was evaluated with Doppler phantom and in vivo studies at different cases. Moreover, the robustness of the filters was explored under wrong singular value threshold estimation, and their computational complexity was studied. Main results . Qualitative and quantitative results indicated that GA-SVD and AC-HOSVD can effectively improve clutter rejection performance in short ensembles, especially AC-HOSVD. Notably, the proposed methods using 20 frames had similar image quality to SVD using 100 frames. In vivo studies showed that compared to SVD, GA-SVD increased the signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) by 6.03 dB on average, and AC-HOSVD increased the SNR by 8.93 dB on average. Furthermore, AC-HOSVD remained better power Doppler image quality under non-optimal thresholds, followed by GA-SVD. Significance . An absolute phase retrieval method based on fringe amplitude encoding is proposed. Different from the conventional intensity coding methods which are based on time division multiplexing with multiple additional auxiliary patterns, the proposed fringe order encoding strategy is codeword overlapping interaction based on space division multiplexing. It just directly encodes different fringe amplitudes for different periods in corresponding sinusoidal phase-shifting patterns to generate space division multiplexing composite sinusoidal phase-shifting patterns and quantifies the fringe amplitudes into four levels as encoding strategy, so it can retrieve absolute phase without any additional auxiliary patterns. To improve the anti-interference capability of the proposed method, a codeword extraction method based on image morphological processing is proposed to segment the grayscale. Consequently, both the phase-shifting sinusoidal deformed patterns and the single frame space division multiplexing four gray-level codewords for fringe order recognition can be extracted respectively from the captured composite deformed patterns. Then, a half-period single-connected domain correction method is also proposed to correct the codewords. Moreover, in order to suppress the effect of jump errors, the phase zero points are constructed to segment the positive and negative ranges of the phase, making the phase unwrapping process segmented. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and effectivity of the proposed method.

Photothermal therapy (PTT) effectively suppresses tumor growth with high selectivity. Nevertheless, PTT may cause an inflammatory response that leads to tumor recurrence and treatment resistance, which are the main disadvantages of PTT. Herein, monodisperse hafnium carbide nanoparticles (HfC NPs) were successfully prepared for noninflammatory PTT of cancer. HfC NPs possessed satisfactory near-infrared (NIR) absorption, good photothermal conversion efficiency (PTCE, 36.8 %) and photothermal stability. Furthermore, holding large surface areas and intrinsic redox-active sites, HfC NPs exhibited excellent anti-inflammatory properties due to their antioxidant and superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzymatic activities. In vitro and in vivo experiments confirmed that HfC NPs converted light energy into heat energy upon NIR laser irradiation to kill cancer cells through PTT and achieved a better therapeutic effect by anti-inflammatory effects after PTT.
