Background: Hypoxic microenvironment is a common feature of most solid tumors including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Vasculogenic mimicry (VM) formation by tumor cells could provide blood supply to tumor cells under hypoxia. NFE2 like basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factor 2 (Nrf2), a regulator of cellular homeostasis, may promote tumor progression in the hypoxic conditions. However, the role and regulatory mechanisms of Nrf2 in HCC are not fully elucidated., Methods: Nrf2 and assembly factor for spindle microtubules (ASPM) expression modulations were conducted by lentiviral transfections. Western blot, immunofluorescence, ChIP-qPCR, dual-luciferase reporter gene assay, flow cytometry, RNA sequencing, multiple bioinformatics databases analysis, cell function assays in vitro, mouse model in vivo and human HCC tissues were employed to assess the effect of Nrf2/ASPM axis on HCC progression under hypoxia., Results: Nrf2 and ASPM expression facilitated epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), cancer stem cells (CSCs) feature, and VM formation of HCC cells under hypoxia. Furthermore, Nrf2-regulated ASPM expression, via binding directly to the promoter region of ASPM and transcriptionally promoting ASPM expression. ASPM re-expression in Nrf2 knockdown cells or ASPM knockdown in Nrf2 overexpression cells reversed the cellular function caused by Nrf2. Meantime, retinol metabolism pathway was disrupted following abnormal ASPM expression. Nrf2/ASPM axis in murine models accelerated tumor growth and VM, corroborating in vitro findings. All-trans retinoic acid treatment reversed stemness and VM of HCC cells in vitro and in vivo. Clinically, Nrf2 and ASPM expressions were related to poor prognosis of HCC patients., Conclusions: Nrf2 drives EMT, CSCs characteristics and VM in HCC under hypoxia through the modulation of ASPM. Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) triggers viral myocarditis, with no effective vaccine yet. This fecal-oral transmitted pathogen has prompted interest in mucosal immunization strategies to impede CVB3 spread. We developed a new attenuated vaccine strain, named CVB3(mu). The potential of CVB3(mu) to stimulate mucosal immune protection remains to be elucidated. This study evaluates the attenuation characteristics of CVB3(mu) via a rapid evolution cellular model and RNA sequencing. Its temperature sensitivity and safety were evaluated through in vitro and in vivo experiments. The mucosal immunity protection of CVB3(mu) was assessed via intranasal immunization in Balb/c mice. The results indicate that CVB3(mu) exhibits temperature sensitivity and forms smaller plaques. It sustains fewer genetic mutations and still possesses certain attenuated traits up to the 25th passage, in comparison to CVB3(WT). Intranasal immunization elicited a significant serum neutralizing antibodies, and a substantial sIgA response in nasal washes. In vivo trials revealed CVB3(mu) protection in adult mice and passive protection in suckling mice against lethal CVB3(WT) challenges. Background: NDRG1, the first member of the NDRG family, is a multifunctional protein associated with carcinogenesis. Its function in human cancer is currently poorly understood. The aim of this study was to explore the importance of NDRG1 in tumor immune cell infiltration and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in hepatocellular carcinoma., Methods: NDRG1 expression in various cancers was analyzed using TIMER 2.0, the Human Protein Atlas (HPA), UALCAN and PrognoScan. Wound healing, Transwell, MTT and colony formation assays were performed to confirm the effects of NDRG1 on the metastasis and proliferation of HCC cells. Western blotting was used to study the effect of NDRG1 on the expression of EMT-related proteins. Signaling networks were constructed using LinkedOmics and Metascape. TIMER2.0 and TISIDB were used for comprehensive analysis of tumor-infiltrating immune cells and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs)., Result: NDRG1 expression was higher in HCC tissue than in normal liver tissue at both the mRNA and protein levels. Overexpression of NDRG1 is associated with poor prognosis in HCC patients. Genomic analysis suggests that NDRG1 promoter hypermethylation leads to enhanced transcription, which may be one mechanism for NDRG1 upregulation in HCC. The overexpression of NDRG1 promotes the invasion, migration, and proliferation of HCC cells and induces the expression of EMT-related proteins. Immunoinfiltration analysis suggests that NDRG1 is involved in the recruitment of immune cells., Conclusions: The present study showed that NDRG1 may induce metastasis and invasion through EMT and immune cell infiltration. The degradation of sodium alginate by human gut microbiota was found to be retarded via calcium cross-linking in our previous study. We hypothesized that the guluronic acid block (GB) on the alginate molecule might be the key structural region affecting alginate degradation by the gut microbiota when cross-linked with calcium. This study aims to prove this hypothesis by studying the structural features of the cross-linked GB on its in vitro fecal fermentation behaviors concerning the aspects of total carbohydrate contents, monosaccharide contents, short-chain fatty acids production, calcium state variations, and structural variations. Herein, GB isolated from sodium alginate was cross-linked under ranges of molar ratios of [Ca 2+ ]/[-COOH] that further restricted the degradation by gut microbiota similar to the cross-linked alginates. First, total carbohydrate contents, short-chain fatty acids production, monosaccharides contents, and calcium state analyses confirmed that the degradation of GB by gut microbiota was restricted by calcium cross-linking. Furthermore, the tracking analysis of structural variations during in vitro fermentation revealed that the "granules" structure could further restrict degradation by the gut microbiota, leaving more cross-linked GB fragments surviving in comparison to the "networks" structure. In addition, Bacteroides xylanisolvens showed a significant positive correlation to the "cross-linking porosity ( R = 0.825, p < 0.001), which supported our previous findings on fermentation behaviors of cross-linked alginate. Together, guluronic acid blocks are the key structural regions that retard the degradation of sodium alginate by the gut microbiota when cross-linked with calcium.

Accurate prediction of bone metastasis-free survival (BMFS) after complete surgical resection in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) may facilitate appropriate follow-up planning. The aim of this study was to establish and validate a preoperative CT-based deep learning (DL) signature to predict BMFS in NSCLC patients. We performed a retrospective analysis of 1547 NSCLC patients who underwent complete surgical resection, followed by at least 36 months of monitoring at two hospitals. We constructed a DL signature from multiparametric CT images using 3D convolutional neural networks, and we integrated this signature with clinical-imaging factors to establish a deep learning clinical-imaging signature (DLCS). We evaluated performance using Harrell's concordance index (C-index) and the time-dependent receiver operating characteristic. We also assessed the risk of bone metastasis (BM) in NSCLC patients at different clinical stages using DLCS. The DL signature successfully predicted BM, with C-indexes of 0.799 and 0.818 for the validation cohorts. DLCS outperformed the DL signature with corresponding C-indexes of 0.806 and 0.834. Ranges for area under the curve at 1, 2, and 3 years were 0.820-0.865 for internal and 0.860-0.884 for external validation cohorts. Furthermore, DLCS successfully stratified patients with different clinical stages of NSCLC as high- and low-risk groups for BM (p < 0.05). The prevalence of Kümmell's disease (KD) has been increasing due to the aging population and the rise of osteoporotic vertebral compressibility fractures. As a result, there has been a growing concern about this condition. Despite the rapid advancements in its related research fields, the current research status and hotspot analysis of KD remain unclear. Therefore, our goal was to identify and analyze the global research trends on KD using bibliometric tools. All KD data were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection. The information of research field was collected, including title, author, institutions, journals, countries, references, total citations, and years of publication for further analysis. From 1900 to 2022, a total of 195 articles and 1973 references have been published in this field, originating from 27 countries/regions and 90 journals, with China leading the contributions. The most significant institutional and author contributions come from Soochow University and Kim, HS, respectively. The journal with the highest number of published research and total citation frequency is Spine. The latest research focuses in this field include "risk factor," "osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture," "pedicle screw fixation," "percutaneous vertebroplasty," and "bone cement," and should be closely monitored. Additionally, we have conducted a comprehensive analysis of the 50 most-cited articles in KD, providing a valuable list of articles to guide clinical decision-making and future research for clinicians and researchers. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in scientific research on KD. Lonicera japonica Thunb. is a traditional Chinese medicinal plant, which widely cultivated in China, Japan and Korea. From August to October in 2021 and 2022, severe leaf spots symptoms were observed on L. japonica in medicinal botanical garden of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (36°55'89"N, 116°79'91"E), Jinan, Shandong Province, China. The disease incidence was above 80% in the 25 acre cultivation area. Early symptoms were small brown spots on the leaves. Then the number of small spots gradually increased and spread over the entire leaves. The small brown spots seldom merge together to form larger lesions. Leaves with typical symptoms were collected from twenty individual plants, and cut into small 5×5 mm fragments in the junction of infected and healthy tissues. The fragments were sterilized in 75% ethanol for 30 s and 1% NaClO for 60 s, rinsed three times in sterile water, and then placed on potato dextrose agar (PDA). After 3 days of incubation at 25°C, fungal plugs along the edge of the colony were cut and transferred to new PDA for purification. A total number of 23 colonies with similar morphological characteristics were obtained, and three representative strains (Lj14, Lj18 and Lj20) were selected for subsequent study. The colonies grew rapidly on PDA and covered the entire petri dish in 4 days. Colonies had abundant aerial hyphae, initially white, round, later turning gray and black. Conidia were oblate or nearly spherical, single-celled, black, and measured in size from 9.6 to 13.2 μm × 7.9 to 16.1 μm in diameter (n=150) (Figure S1). The observed characteristics were close to those of Nigrospora spp. ( Wang et al. 2017). The genomic DNA was extracted, and PCR amplification of the rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS), β-tubulin gene (TUB), and translation elongation factor 1-alpha gene (TEF1) were completed by primers ITS1/ITS4, Bt2a/Bt2b and EF1-728F/EF1-986R (Carbone and Kohn, 1999). Sequences were deposited in GenBank (accession nos. OR936661, OR936662, OR936671 for ITS, OR947626, OR947627, OR947628 for TUB, and OR947629, OR947630, OR947631 for TEF1 sequences, respectively). BLAST analyses of ITS (OR936661), TUB(OR947626) and TEF1 (OR947629) sequences exhibited 100% (487 bp out of 487 bp), 99.48% (380 bp out of 382 bp), and 99.6% (248 bp out of 249 bp) similarity to the sequences of N. oryzae strains KoLRI&#95;053384 (MZ855426), LC2991 (KY019496) and LC7307 (KY019409), respectively. Lj14, Lj18 and Lj20 formed a clade with N. oryzae LC6763 and LC2991 in phylogenetic tree (Figure S2). Based on morphological and molecular evidence, the pathogen was identified as N. oryzae (Berk. &Broome) Petch. To fulfill Koch's postulates, the pathogenicity was tested in vivo experiments. Thirty non-wounded healthy leaves of ten intact plants were inoculated with 10 µl spore suspension (10 6 spores/ml) of three strains, respectively. As negative control, thirty leaves of ten healthy plants were inoculated with sterile water. The inoculated plants were placed at 28°C in the growth chamber with high relative humidity. The pathogenicity tests were repeated three times. Distinct symptoms similar to that of natural conditions were observed on the leaves of inoculated plants after 4 to 7 days. The strain was reisolated from the lesions and identified as N. oryzae by morphological features and ITS sequence. The pathogen has been reported to cause leaf spot disease on tobacco (Wang et al. 2022) and asiatic dayflower (Qiu et al. 2022). To our knowledge, this is the first report of leaf spot caused by N. oryzae on Lonicera japonica in China. The research will be helpful for leaf spot disease control.

The TBS is a new method for clinicians to assess the bone quality. It is directly related to the mechanical strength of bone and helps predict fracture risk. The present analysis aimed to investigate the associations between serum PTH levels and TBS by analyzing data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). A total of 3516 participants from the NHANES 2005-2006 were included in this cross-sectional study. The independent variable was serum PTH, and the outcome variable was TBS. The associations of serum PTH levels with TBS were examined using multivariable linear regression models. After adjusting for covariates, there was a negative association between serum PTH level and TBS (β = - 0.0034; 95% confidence interval, - 0.0050 to - 0.0017). However, in the subgroup analysis stratified by gender, race, and age, this association became negative only in Non-Hispanic White (β =  - 0.0047, 95% CI:  -  0.0071 to  -  0.0048) and young people (age < 60) (β = - 0.0036, 95% CI: - 0.0057, - 0.0016), regardless of gender. In addition, the association of serum PTH with TBS was an U-shaped curve, with a point of inflection at 6.71 pmol/L. This study showed that serum PTH level was negatively associated with TBS. Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) of the stomach is rare. Moreover, it is usually found in pediatric patients with systemic diseases and may be associated with a poor prognosis. Solitary gastric LCH in adults is extremely rare and is often misdiagnosed or missed. The aim of our study was to review cases of gastric LCH and explore the characteristics of the disease further. A retrospective study of all patients admitted with solitary gastric LCH was conducted between 2013 and 2023. Clinical manifestations, endoscopic and pathological features, immunophenotypes, and molecular changes were collected from medical records. We examined four cases (one female, three males) of gastric LCH. The affected patients were between 33 and 70 years of age. Endoscopically, three patients presented with a solitary polyp or elevated lesions, whereas one patient showed no abnormalities. Under a microscope, all cases showed abnormal proliferation of histiocytoid cells infiltrating in a nested or sheet-like fashion. The tumor cells were medium-sized, with a slightly eosinophilic cytoplasm, irregular or renal-shaped nuclei, folded nuclear membranes, visible nuclear grooves, and the infiltration of inflammatory cells in the background. Immunohistochemically, all lesions expressed CD1a, S-100, langerin, and cyclinD1. One case showed diffuse BRAF V600E positivity. Follow-up data were available for all patients from 4 to 36 months, and all patients were alive without recurrence or progress at the time of manuscript preparation. Combined with previously reported data, solitary adult gastric LCH is more common in male patients, most of whom are asymptomatic or exhibit only mild gastrointestinal symptoms, with a good prognosis. Background: Studies have reported the prevalence of congenital heart disease (CHD) in parts of Tibet, but relative epidemiological surveys are rare. We aimed to explore the prevalence of CHD in children and its relationship with family history in Suo County, Nagqu, Tibet, an altitude of 3,980 meters. Methods: We recruited 4,002 children aged 2-18 years. Subjects underwent a family history investigation, cardiac auscultation, and clinical manifestation examination and then received echocardiographic screening. Results: The prevalence of CHD among children in Suo County was 0.97% (39 cases), much higher than the prevalence at sea level. The most common subtype was atrial septal defect, accounting for 53.9% of CHD, followed by patent ductus arteriosus (33.3%) and ventricular septal defect (12.8%). We also found that children whose mothers had previously borne children with CHD had a higher risk of CHD than those without ( p = 0.002); other factors related to CHD during pregnancy, such as smoking, drinking, drug use, and viral infection, showed no statistical differences between children with and without CHD. Conclusions: The prevalence of CHD in children in Suo County is much higher than at low altitude, consisting mostly of simple forms with left-to-right shunt, with rare complex CHD. These results support implementing diagnostic and treatment plans to prevent CHD in Suo County.

Purpose: Percutaneous endoscopic transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (PE-TLIF) has become one of the most popular minimally invasive surgeries today. However, the issue of hidden blood loss (HBL) in this surgery has received little attention. This study aims to examine the HBL in PE-TLIF surgery and the effect of tranexamic acid (TXA) on blood loss., Methods: In our research, We conducted a retrospective analysis of 300 patients who underwent PE-TLIF from September 2019 to August 2023. They were divided into 2 groups based on whether they received intravenous TXA injection before surgery. The variables compared included: demographic data, pre-and postoperative hemoglobin (HB), hematocrit (HCT), platelets (PLT), red blood cells (RBC), total blood loss (TBL), visible blood loss (VBL), HBL, operation time, postoperative hospital stay, inflammatory markers, coagulation parameters, and adverse events., Results: Regarding demographic characteristics, besides the operation time, no significant differences were observed between the two groups. Compared with the control group, the TXA group showed a significant reduction trend in TBL, HBL, and VBL (P < 0.05). On the first day after surgery, there were significant differences in prothrombin (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), and D-dimer (D-D) levels between the two groups. Similarly, HCT also found similar results on the third day after surgery. No adverse events occurred in either group., Conclusion: Research has found that there is a significant amount of HBL in patients undergoing PE-TLIF. Intravenous injection of TXA can safely and effectively reduce perioperative HBL and VBL. Transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) has a neuroprotective function in traumatic brain injury (TBI) through its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. However, the precise mechanisms underlying the neuroprotective actions of TGF-β1 on the cortex require further investigation. In this study, we were aimed to investigate the regulatory function of TGF-β1 on neuronal autophagy and apoptosis using an in vitro primary cortical neuron trauma-injury model. LDH activity was assayed to measure cell viability, and intracellular [Ca 2+ ] was measured using Fluo-4-AM in an in vitro primary cortical neuron trauma-injury model. RNA-sequencing (RNAseq), immunofluorescent staining, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), western blot and CTSD activity detection were employed. We observed significant enrichment of DEGs related to autophagy, apoptosis, and the lysosome pathway in trauma-injured cortical neurons. TEM confirmed the presence of autophagosomes as well as autophagolysosomes. Western blot revealed upregulation of autophagy-related protein light chain 3 (LC3-II/LC3-I), sequestosome 1 (SQSTM1/p62), along with apoptosis-related protein cleaved-caspase 3 in trauma-injured primary cortical neurons. Furthermore, trauma-injured cortical neurons showed an upregulation of lysosomal marker protein (LAMP1) and lysosomal enzyme mature cathepsin D (mCTSD), but a decrease in the activity of CTSD enzyme. These results indicated that apoptosis was up-regulated in trauma- injured cortical neurons at 24 h, accompanied by lysosomal dysfunction and impaired autophagic flux. Notably, TGF-β1 significantly reversed these changes. Over the past 10 years, hip arthroscopy has been increasingly employed to effectively diagnose and safely treat a range of hip pathologies. With research related to hip arthroscopy continually expanding, the number of articles connected with hip arthroscopy has also consistently grown. We aimed to investigate trends and hotspots in hip arthroscopy-related research, and analyze the top 100 most-cited articles on hip arthroscopy. We searched for ("hip arthroscopy") AND ("article" OR "review") AND "English" in the Web of Science database from 1900 to 2022, which was used to obtain all publications relating to hip arthroscopy. Distribution of country, affiliated institution, journal, authors, citation frequency and keywords were analyzed using VOSviewer. A total of 1094 articles were selected from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) from 1900 to 2022. The number of publications concerning hip arthroscopy displayed an ascending trend over time. Among the countries, the United States emerged as the largest contributor to the number of articles. The highest prolific institution was American Hip Institute. Among the journals, the highest-ranking journal was "Arthroscopy-the Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery," with 8316 citation counts and 262 articles. The area of greatest research interest was diagnosis and therapy in the field. The scientific articles on the subject of hip arthroscopy have risen continuously in recent years. The United States was the most influential country and made the most significant contributions to this field globally. Traditionally, tenderness has been assessed through shear force testing, which is inherently destructive, the accuracy is easily affected, and it results in considerable sample wastage. Although this technology has some drawbacks, it is still the most effective detection method currently available. In light of these drawbacks, non-destructive testing techniques have emerged as a preferred alternative, promising greater accuracy, efficiency, and convenience without compromising the integrity of the samples. This paper delves into applying five advanced non-destructive testing technologies in the realm of meat tenderness assessment. These include near-infrared spectroscopy, hyperspectral imaging, Raman spectroscopy, airflow optical fusion detection, and nuclear magnetic resonance detection. Each technology is scrutinized for its respective strengths and limitations, providing a comprehensive overview of their current utility and potential for future development. Moreover, the integration of these techniques with the latest advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technology is explored. The fusion of AI with non-destructive testing offers a promising avenue for the development of more sophisticated, rapid, and intelligent systems for meat tenderness evaluation. This integration is anticipated to significantly enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the quality assessment in the meat industry, ensuring a higher standard of safety and nutritional value for consumers. The paper concludes with a set of technical recommendations to guide the future direction of non-destructive, AI-enhanced meat tenderness detection.

Introduction: Osteoarthritis of the hip or knee has been reported to be linked to an increased risk of frailty. However, a definitive conclusion about whether hip or knee osteoarthritis increases susceptibility to frailty remains elusive., Material and Methods: The instrumental variables (IVs) used in this analysis were sourced from publicly available genome-wide association study (GWAS) datasets. We used a two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis to evaluate the plausible causal nexus between hip or knee osteoarthritis and frailty., Results: We included a total of 25 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) as instrumental variables through rigorous and comprehensive screening. The results of this analysis suggested that hip or knee osteoarthritis is associated with an elevated risk of frailty. The development of the solar market has been fast in the past decades, and the number of photovoltaic module installations is large. The photovoltaic modules have a lifetime of about 25 years and need recovery after that. The aluminium-back surface field (Al-BSF) module is the first kind of large-scale installed module and will come to its end of life in the next few years. The recycling of silicon material in the Al-BSF module is investigated in this work. The components of the module are separated, and the silicon material in the module is collected and then purified by (aluminium-silicon) Al-Si solvent refining for reuse. It is found that Al-Si solvent refining removed key impurity elements, namely boron and phosphorus, in the collected silicon. Kinetics has a great effect on boron and phosphorus removal, and boron and phosphorus contents in purified silicon decrease with decreasing cooling rate. Context: The coexistence of hypertension and elevated homocysteine (Hcy) levels has a mutually reinforcing impact on the susceptibility to cardio-cerebrovascular disease., Objective: The aim was to assess the prevalence, clinical correlation, and demographic characteristics of hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) within the Chinese urban population with hypertension., Methods: A cohort of 473 individuals with hypertension were selected from four communities in Shenzhen, China. Demographic attributes, clinical profiles, and lifestyle behaviors were gathered and compared between individuals with and without HHcy. A logistic regression model was employed to examine potential factors associated with the prevalence of HHcy. Correlation between Hcy levels and clinical characteristics was assessed through multiple linear regression analysis., Results: The prevalence of HHcy in the population with hypertension was 31.3%. In comparison to individuals without HHcy, those with HHcy exhibited a higher proportion of males, a higher prevalence of smoking and alcohol consumption, and a higher proportion of cases with the homozygous (TT) genotype at the MTHFR C677T polymorphism. Moreover, individuals with HHcy had lower levels of folic acid (FA), and lower fruit and vitamin B12 intake. Furthermore, the risk factors for HHcy were male ( B = 1.430, OR = 4.179) and MTHFR (TT) ( B = 1.086, OR = 2.961). Objectives: Most signatures are constructed on the basis of RNA or protein expression levels. The value of vascular invasion-related signatures based on lncRNA pairs, regardless of their specific expression level in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), is not yet clear., Methods: Vascular invasion-related differentially expressed lncRNA (DElncRNA) pairs were identified with a two-lncRNA combination strategy by using a novel modeling algorithm. Based on the optimal cutoff value of the ROC curve, patients with HCC were classified into high- and low-risk subgroups. We used KM survival analysis to evaluate the overall survival rate of patients in the high- and low-risk subgroups. The independent indicators of survival were identified using univariate and multivariate Cox analyses., Results: Five pairs of vascular invasion-related DElncRNAs were selected to develop a predictive model for HCC. Background: Luminal A breast cancer is the most common molecular subtype of breast cancer. Exploring biomarkers to identify luminal A breast cancer patients at high risk of recurrence and metastasis has important clinical significance. UTP23 is a component of ribosomal small-subunit processome, which is involved in ribosome synthesis and RNA maturation. The role of UTP23 in breast cancer has not been reported., Methods: TCGA-BRCA data, LinkedOmics, STRING, Metascape and ssGSEA were used to analyze UTP23 expression in breast cancer and evaluate prognosis. Quantitative real-time PCR, western blot and in vitro cell experiment were used to demonstrate the role of UTP23 in breast cancer., Results: UTP23 showed abnormally high expression in multiple cancers and was associated with poor prognosis. UTP23 was associated with T stage, lymph node metastasis, race, histological type, molecular subtypes and survival status in breast cancer. Importantly, UTP23 was significantly associated with poor OS in luminal A or early breast cancer, not in non-luminal A or advanced breast cancer. UTP23 expression was significantly correlated with immune cells infiltration. Enrichment analysis suggested that UTP23 might regulate cell cycle and cell division. Bioinformatics analysis showed DCAF13 might be downstream factor of UTP23. UTP23 expression promoted MCF-7 cells proliferation, migration and invasion possibly through regulating DCAF13 expression., Conclusions: UTP23 may function in breast cancer progression. This study purposed to develop konjac glucomannan (KGM) based antimicrobial coatings containing Litsea cubeba essential oil nanoemulsion (LNE) for citruses preservation. Physical stability, rheological, structural and antimicrobial properties of the coating solutions were investigated, along with the release characteristics of Litsea cubeba essential oil (LCO). Results showed that the coating solutions displayed shear thinning behavior. The oil droplets were distributed homogeneously in KGM phase with good stability. The coating structure became loose with increasing LNE content due to LNE interfering with molecular interactions and entanglement of KGM. The coating solutions showed stronger antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli than against Staphylococcus aureus and were effective in inhibiting the growth of Penicillium italicum on citrus surfaces. KGM-LNE 10 negatively affected citruses due to phytotoxicity caused by high levels of LCO. LCO was released slowly and continuously from the coatings, and its release was faster in deionized water than in an ethanol-water solution. KGM-LNE 2.5 coated citruses had the least weight loss, the greatest hardness, and kept the minimum changes in total soluble solids, total acid and vitamin C content, implying that KGM-LNE 2.5 best maintained the quality of citruses. Hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide complexed alginate-Ca 2+ microgels (C/AMGs) were developed as emulsifiers, which shown remarkably improved emulsifying performance than non-complexed alginate-Ca 2+ microgels (AMGs) in previous study. This work focus on the impact of deformability on the emulsifying performance of C/AMGs. By regulating alginate concentration (1.0-4.0 wt%), microgels with different deformability were prepared. Deformability was proved to have great influence on the emulsifying performance of C/AMGs, which was evaluated by Langmuir trough measurements, emulsion appearance, centrifugation stability, digestive behavior, and oxidative stability. Particle size and SEM images indicated microgels prepared with lower alginate concentration are more deformable. C/AMGs (2.0 wt%) exhibits the best emulsifying performance, which could be ascribed to the appreciated deformability and mechanical strength. Digestive behavior and oxidative stability of alginate-Ca 2+ microgel (2.0 wt%) stabilized emulsions were further investigated. Compared with alginate-Ca 2+ microgel (2.0 wt%) stabilized emulsions, C/AMGs (2.0 wt%) stabilized emulsions shown delayed lipid digestion and lower POV. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has a shorter survival time and higher mortality rate than other molecular subtypes. RSRC2 is a newly discovered tumor suppressor gene. However, the potential functional mechanism of RSRC2 in TNBC remains unknown so far. Multiple bioinformatics databases were used. A Human Transcriptome Array 2.0 analysis, ChIP-seq analysis, ChIP-qPCR, RT-qPCR, Western blot, cell function assays in vitro and a metastatic mouse model in vivo were performed to demonstrate the role of RSRC2 in TNBC. Through the analysis of various databases, RSRC2 expression was the lowest in TNBC tissues compared to other molecular subtypes. The low expression of RSRC2 was associated with a worse prognosis for patients with breast cancer. The transcriptome array, ChIP-seq and bioinformatics analysis identified that GRHL2 and SCIN might have a close relationship with RSRC2. The functional bioinformatics enrichment analysis and functional cell experiments showed that RSRC2 was involved in cell adhesion, cell proliferation, cell migration and invasion. Furthermore, RSRC2 expression suppressed SCIN expression but not GRHL2 expression. SCIN re-expression in the RSRC2 overexpression cells or SCIN knockdown in the RSRC2 knockdown cells reversed the cellular function caused by RSRC2. Mechanistically, RSRC2 transcriptionally inhibited SCIN expression. In summary, our study reveals that RSRC2 acts as a tumor suppressor in TNBC development and progression through negatively regulating SCIN-mediated cell function, thus providing a potential target for TNBC treatment.

Serum uric acid (SUA) has been discovered to be associated with bone mineral density (BMD), but its relationship with trabecular bone score (TBS) remains unclear. Thus, the aim of our study was to investigate the association between SUA levels and TBS. Our study included 5895 individuals over 20 years old (3061 men and 2834 women) from NHANES 2005-2008. To analyze the association between SUA and TBS, multivariate linear regression models with covariate adjustments were applied. Furthermore, population description, stratified analysis, single factor analysis, smooth curve fitting, interaction analysis, and threshold effect and saturation effect analysis were also conducted. After adjusting for covariates, SUA showed a strong negative relationship with total TBS (β = 0.319; 95% CI 0.145-0.494; P < 0.001). The relationship between SUA levels and total TBS was found to be nonlinear, with inflection points at 4.8 mg/dL for the overall population, 4.2 mg/dL for women, and 5.7 mg/dL for non-Hispanic whites, indicating a saturation effect. Additionally, no interactions were found in any of the subgroups. Our study found a negative association between SUA and total TBS in adults. Apples are rich in vitamins and dietary fiber and are one of the essential fruits in people's daily diet. China has always been a big apple consumer, and with the improvement of people's life quality, nutrition, and health requirements, the demand for high-quality apples has increased year by year. Apple mold heart disease is one of the main diseases affecting apple quality. However, this disease cannot be easily detected from the surface, so it is difficult to detect mold heart disease. Therefore, this paper focuses on the analysis of seven non-destructive detection technologies, including near infrared spectroscopy technology, hyperspectral technology, Raman spectroscopy technology, electronic nose technology, acoustic technology, electrical technology, and magnetic technology, summarizes their application status in the detection of apple mold heart disease, and then analyzes their advantages and disadvantages. Combined with the current rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, this paper proposes the future development trends of using non-destructive technologies to detect apple mold heart disease. It is expected to provide basic theory and application references for the intelligent detection of apple mold heart disease.

Mental stress is an increasingly common psychological issue leading to diseases such as depression, addiction, and heart attack. In this study, an early detection framework based on electroencephalogram (EEG) data is developed for reducing the risk of these diseases. In existing frameworks, signals are often segmented into smaller sections prior to being input to a deep neural network. However, this approach ignores the fundamental nature of EEG signals as a carrier of valuable information (e.g., the integrity of frequency and phase, and temporal fluctuations of EEG components). As such, this type of segmenting may lead to information loss and a failure to effectively identify mental stress levels. Thus, we propose a novel multiclass classification framework termed multibranch LSTM and hierarchical temporal attention (MuLHiTA) for the early identification of mental stress levels. It specifically focuses on not only intraslice (within each slice) but also interslice (between different slices) samples in parallel. This was achieved by including two complementary branches, each of which integrated a specifically designed attention module into a bidirectional long short-term memory (BLSTM) network, enabling extraction of the most discriminative features from interslice and intraslice EEG signals simultaneously. The outputs of attention modules were then summed to obtain a feature representation that contributes to reduce overfitting and more effective multiclass classification. In addition, electrode positions were optimized using neural activity areas under high-stress conditions, thereby reducing computational costs by minimizing the number of critical electrodes. MuLHiTA was evaluated across one private [Montreal imaging stress task (MIST)] and two publicly available EEG datasets [EEG during mental arithmetic tasks (DMAT) and Simultaneous task EEG workload (STEW)]. These were divided into training and test sets using an 8:2 ratio, and the training data were further divided into training and validation sets using a fivefold cross-validation (CV) method, in which the model with the highest accuracy among the five was selected. The model was trained once more with the full training set, and the test data were then used to evaluate its performance. This approach achieved average classification accuracies of 93.58%, 91.80%, and 99.71% for the MIST, STEW, and DMAT datasets, respectively. Experimental results showed MuLHiTA was superior to state-of-the-art algorithms, including EEGNet, BLSTM, EEGLearn, convolutional neural network (CNN)-long short-term memory (LSTM), and convolutional recurrent attention model (CRAM), for multiclass classification. This demonstrates the viability of MuLHiTA for the early detection of mental stress.

Slow fermentable dietary fibers can be utilized by human gut microbiota in the distal region of the colon and thus exert a sufficient short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) supplement in the distal region of the human colon. Alginate (Alg) based microgels are widely fabricated and used to control their digestion by digestive enzymes releasing active substances site-specifically. Herein, sodium alginate microgels with gradient calcium-ion (Ca 2+ ) cross-linking densities were developed, restricting their degradation by gut microbiota. Alg microgels were prepared using high-speed shearing after Alg was cross-linked with 10, 40, and 60 mmol/L Ca 2+ , respectively (named 10-Alg, 40-Alg, and 60-Alg). The fluorescence and atomic force microscopic results showed that the 40-Alg particle has the densest structure among the three cross-linked Alg. In vitro human fecal fermentation results revealed that the Ca 2+ cross-linking exerted more restricting effects than delaying effects on the fermentation of Alg, and the 40-Alg exhibited the slowest fermentation rate and the least fermentation extent, by characterizing the residual total carbohydrate content, residual monosaccharide content, pH, and total short-chain fatty acids. The 16S rRNA gene sequencing results indicated that cross-linking structures shaped a high specifical Bacteroides-type microbial community and that OTU205 (Bacteroides&#95;xylanisolvens) highly correlated to the cross-linking density (R = 0.65, p = 0.047). With the increased risk of complications associated with traditional spinal fusion for the treatment of degenerative disc disease, total disc replacement (TDR) has received increasing attention in recent years. Despite the rapid development of its related research fields, its research status and the hotspot analysis are still unclear. Our goal was to identify and analyze the global research trends on TDR using bibliometric tools. All TDR data were obtained from the WoSCC. The information of research field was collected, including title, author, institutions, journals, countries, references, total citations, and years of publication for further analysis. From 1993 to 2022, a total of 1167 articles and 11,348 references were included in this field. These publications are mainly from 53 countries/regions and 174 journals, led by the United States and China. According to the citation report, the US was absolutely in the leading position in this research field. The most contribution institution and author were Sichuan University and Liu H. Spine and European Spine Journal were the most active journal on TDR research, with 205 and 118 articles. Meanwhile, they were also the most frequently cited journals. The "bone loss," "cervical arthroplasty," "hybrid surgery" were the most frequently cited areas of TDR research. Meanwhile, the latest research hotspots and directions were "cervical disc arthroplasty," "7 year follow up," "heterotopic ossification." The scientific research on TDR has increased considerably in recent years. This study clarifies the current research status and future development trends in order to guide clinicians and researchers in the field of TDR. Oxygen diffusion played an important role in the lipid oxidation of food emulsions. In this study, a simple method was developed to quantitatively observe the oxygen diffusion in the oil-water biphasic system, and it was further applied to investigate the relationship between the oxygen diffusion and lipid oxidation in O/W emulsions. Various factors that related to the emulsion oxidation were considered, from their influence on the oxygen diffusion and lipid oxidation in the emulsions. Results showed that there was obvious correlation between the oxygen diffusion and lipid oxidation in O/W emulsions, which reveals the inhibition of oxygen diffusion could apparently slow down the lipid oxidation. Moreover, the changes of oil phase, water phase and interfacial layer of the emulsions, which were related to the oxygen diffusion, could improve the oxidative stability of the emulsions effectively. In this study, we investigated the effect of addition of citrus fiber (CF; 5% and 10%, which consists mainly of soluble pectin and insoluble cellulose) on physical properties and microstructure of meat analogs based on soy protein isolate and wheat gluten using high-moisture extrusion. Layered structure or microstructure of meat analogs was observed by scanning electron microscope and confocal laser scanning microscope. Compared to the control (without CF), meat analogs with CF addition showed disorder layered microstructure, which was interconnected with smaller fibers. Rheological measurements (strain sweep and frequency sweep) show that the incorporation of CF resulted in meat analogs with softer texture. The moisture content of meat analogs increased significantly upon the addition of CF, which was also correlated with juiciness. Sensory evaluation and dynamic salt release results confirm that the saltiness of meat analogs with CF addition was enhanced due to the structural changes of phase-separated structures, achieving salt reduction by 20% and showing a saltiness similar to the control sample. This research provides a novel approach to modulate the saltiness perception of meat analogs by modifying the phase separation of protein/polysaccharides. PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Citrus fiber is added to the plant protein matrix to prepare meat analogs with high moisture content and enhanced saltiness perception via modifying the phase separation of protein/polysaccharides. Agarose microgels were prepared with bottom-up approach, and emulsifying properties of agarose microgels were investigated. Physical properties of microgels are varied with agarose concentration, and further affect the emulsifying performance of microgels. Enhanced surface hydrophobicity index and decreased particle size of microgels were recorded with the increasing of agarose concentration, which were conducive to emulsifying properties of microgels. Improved interfacial adsorption of microgels was evidenced by Dynamic surface tension and SEM. However, microscopic morphology of microgel at O/W interface indicated that increasing agarose concentration could weaken the deformability of microgels. The influence of external conditions (pH and NaCl) on the physical properties of microgels were investigated, and their effects on emulsion stability were evaluated. Compared with acidification, NaCl was appeared to be more destructive to emulsion stability. Results indicated acidification and NaCl could decrease surface hydrophobicity index of microgels, but there was differentiation in the variation of particle size. It was inferred that deformability of microgels could make contribution to the stability of emulsion. The incidence of bladder cancer (BLCA) in men is higher than that in women. Differences in androgen levels between men and women are considered the main causes of incidence rate differences. In this study, dihydrotestosterone (DHT) significantly increased the proliferation and invasion of BLCA cells. In addition, BLCA formation and metastatic rates were higher in N-butyl-N-(4-hydroxybutyl) nitrosamine (BBN)-treated male mice than in female and castrated male mice in vivo. However, immunohistochemistry showed that androgen receptor (AR) was expressed at low levels in normal and BLCA tissues of men and women. The classical AR pathway considers that DHT binds to AR and induces it to enter the nucleus, where it functions as a transcription factor. Here, a non-AR combination pathway of androgen that promoted BLCA development was investigated. The EPPK1 protein was bombarded with DHT, as determined by biotinylated DHT-binding pull-down experiments. EPPK1 was highly expressed in BLCA tissues, and EPPK1 knockdown significantly inhibited BLCA cell proliferation and invasion promoted by DHT. Moreover, JUP expression was elevated in DHT-treated high-EPPK1 expressing cells, and JUP knockdown inhibited cell proliferation and invasion. EPPK1 overexpression increased tumour growth and JUP expression in nude mice. Furthermore, DHT increased the expression of the MAPK signals p38, p-p38, and c-Jun, and c-Jun could bind to the JUP promoter. However, the promotion of p38, p-p38, and c-Jun expression by DHT was not observed in EPPK1 knockdown cells, and a p38 inhibitor suppressed the DHT-induced effects, indicating that p38 MAPK may be involved in the regulation of DHT-dependent EPPK1-JUP-promoted BLCA cell proliferation and invasion. The growth of bladder tumours in BBN-treated mice was inhibited by the addition of the hormone inhibitor goserelin. As a simple and convenient technology to fabricate micron-to-nanoscale fibers with controllable structure, electrostatic spinning has produced fiber films with many natural advantages, including a large specific surface area and high porosity. Maize zein, as a major storage protein in corn, showed high hydrophobicity and has been successfully applied as a promising carrier for encapsulation and controlled release in the pharmaceutical and food areas. Proteins exhibit different physical and chemical properties at different pH values, and it is worth investigating whether this change in physical and chemical properties affects the properties of electrospun fiber films. We studied the pH effects on zein solution rheology, fiber morphology, and film properties. Rotational rheometers were used to test the rheology of the solutions and establish a correlation between solution concentration and fiber morphology. The critical concentrations calculated by the cross-equation fitting model were 17.6%, 20.1%, 20.1%, 17.1%, and 19.5% ( w / v ) for pH 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, respectively. The secondary structure of zein changed with the variation in solution pH. Furthermore, we analyzed the physical properties of the zein films. The contact angles of the fiber membranes prepared with different pH spinning solutions were all above 100, while zein films formed by solvent evaporation showed hydrophilic properties. The results indicated that the rheological properties of zein solutions and the surface properties of the film were affected by the pH value. This study showed that zein solutions can be stabilized to form electrospun fibers at a variety of pH levels and offered new opportunities to further enhance the encapsulation activity of zein films for bioactive materials.

Oleogels containing less saturated and trans-fats were considered as an ideal option to replace the solid fats in foods. In this research, oleogel was fabricated by dispersing soy fiber particles (SFP) in soy oil, and further it was used in bread preparation. Effect of the particle size, particle content and the second fluid content on the formation of oleogels were evaluated, based on the appearance and rheological properties. Results showed that the suspension of SFP in soy oil (24%, w/w) could be transformed into gel-like state, upon the addition of the second fluid. The SFP based networks were dominated by the capillary force which was originated from the second fluid. The rheological properties and yield stress of the oleogels could be modulated by particle size and particle content of SFP in oil phase, as well as the second fluid content in the system. When the oleogels were applicated in bread preparation, a layered structure could be formed in the bread, indicating the possibility of replacing the solid fats in bakery products by our oleogels. The use of cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) is fast becoming an emerging curing technology in the meat industry. The aim of this study was to assess CAP-assisted curing of beef meat roasted by charcoal (CR) and superheated steam (SR) in terms of flavor quality and heterocyclic amines (HAs) using electronic nose, GC-MS and UPLC-MS-MS. The CAP-assisted curing increased redness value by 46% and 8% in SR and CR meat respectively. Although CAP-assisted curing had little influence on the odor profile of SR meat, it influenced the odor profile of CR meat. Lipid oxidation-derived off-flavors in CR meat were not significantly (P > 0.05) changed after CAP treatment. However, these off-flavors were significantly (P < 0.05) reduced in SR meat. In addition, CAP-assisted curing did not increase the HAs contents in SR meat. Purpose: Diabetes mellitus is a systemic metabolic disorder which may target the lungs and lead to interstitial lung disease. The clinical characteristics and mechanisms of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) complicated with interstitial lung disease (ILD) have been studied. However, little work has been done to assess genetic contributions to the development of T2DM complicated with ILD., Method: A pedigree of T2DM complicated with ILD was investigated, and the whole genome re-sequencing was performed to identify the genetic variations in the pedigree. According to the literature, the most valuable genetic contributors to the pathogenesis of T2DM complicated with ILD were screened out, and the related cellular functional experiments were also performed., Results: A large number of SNPs, InDels, SVs and CNVs were identified in eight subjects including two diabetic patients with ILD, two diabetic patients without ILD, and four healthy subjects from the pedigree. After data analysis according to the literature, MUC5B SNP rs2943512 (A > C) was considered to be an important potentially pathogenic gene mutation associated with the pathogenesis of ILD in T2DM patients. In vitro experiments showed that the expression of MUC5B in BEAS-2B cells was significantly up-regulated by high glucose stimulation, accompanied by the activation of ERK1/2 and the increase of IL-1β and IL-6. When silencing MUC5B by RNA interference, the levels of p-ERK1/2 as well as IL-1β and IL-6 in BEAS-2B cells were all significantly decreased., Conclusion: The identification of these genetic variants in the pedigree enriches our understanding of the potential genetic contributions to T2DM complicated with ILD. Introduction: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is characterized by high aggressiveness and a hypoxic tumour microenvironment. Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is a hypoxia-related pleiotropic cytokine that plays important roles in cancer. However, its role in PDAC progression has not been fully elucidated., Methods: The clinical significance of MIF and hypoxia inducible factor 1 subunit alpha (HIF1A) in PDAC was analysed using immunohistochemical staining on PDAC tissues and data from KM-Plotter database. Spatial distribution of MIF and HIF1A gene expression was visualized by spatial transcriptomics in PDAC cell xenografts. To monitor the role of MIF in PDAC cell malignancy, immunostaining, lentivirus shRNA, migration assays, flow cytometry, transcriptomics and in vivo tumorigenicity were performed., Results: The spatial distribution of MIF and HIF1A was highly correlated and that high MIF expression was associated with poor prognosis of PDAC patients. MIF knockdown impaired cell invasion, with a decrease in the expression of urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR). Although PLAUR transcript was not reduced, a uPAR endocytic receptor, low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1 (LRP1), was upregulated at both the mRNA and protein levels after MIF knockdown. The LRP1 antagonist RAP restored uPAR expression and invasiveness. MIF attenuated the nuclear translocation of p53, a transcriptional regulator of LRP1. Furthermore, MIF downregulation blunted the growth of PDAC cell xenografts and inhibited cell proliferation under normoxia and hypoxia. Transcriptome analysis also provided evidence for the role of MIF in cancer-associated pathways., Discussion: We demonstrate a novel link between the two pro-invasive agents MIF and uPAR and explain how MIF increases PDAC cell invasion capability. Introduction: Hypoxia is an important characteristic of solid tumors. However, spatial transcriptomics (ST) of hypoxia-associated heterogeneity is not clear., Methods: This study integrated Spatial Transcriptomics (ST) with immunofluorescence to demonstrate their spatial distribution in human claudin-low breast cancer MDA-MB-231 engraft. ST spots were clustered with differentially expression genes. The data were combined with hypoxia-specific marker and angiogenesis marker-labeled serial sections to indicate the spatial distribution of hypoxia and hypoxia-inducted transcriptional profile. Moreover, marker genes, cluster-specific hypoxia genes, and their co-essential relationship were identified and mapped in every clusters. The clinicopathological association of marker genes of hypoxia-dependent spatial clusters was explored in 1904 breast cancers from METABRIC database., Results: The tumor from center to periphery were enriched into five hypoxia-dependent subgroups with differentially expressed genes, which were matched to necrosis, necrosis periphery, hypoxic tumor, adaptive survival tumor, and invasive tumor, respectively. Different subgroups demonstrated distinct hypoxia condition and spatial heterogeneity in biological behavior and signaling pathways. Cox regression analysis showed that the invasive tumor (cluster 0) and hypoxic tumor (cluster 6) score could be served as independent prognostic factors in claudin-low patients. KM analysis indicated that high invasive tumor (cluster 0) and hypoxic tumor (cluster 6) score was associated with poor prognoses of claudin-low patients. Further analysis showed that hypoxia-induced immune checkpoints, such as CD276 and NRP1, upregulation in invasive tumor to block infiltration and activation of B cells and CD8+ T cells to change tumor immune microenvironment., Discussion: This study reveals hypoxia-dependent spatial heterogeneity in claudin-low breast cancer and highlights its potential value as a predictive biomarker of clinical outcomes and immunotherapy response. Objective: Hypoxia is an important feature of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Previously, we found that hypoxia promotes ENO1 expression and PDAC invasion. However, the underlying molecular mechanism was remains unclear., Methods: The relationship between ENO1 expression and clinicopathological characteristics was analyzed in 84 patients with PADC. The effects of CoCl 2 -induced hypoxia and ENO1 downregulation on the apoptosis, invasion, and proliferation of PDAC cells were evaluated in vitro and in vivo . Hypoxia- and ENO1-induced gene expression was analyzed by transcriptomic sequencing., Results: The prognosis of PDAC with high ENO1 expression was poor ( P < 0.05). High ENO1 expression was closely associated with histological differentiation and tumor invasion in 84 PDAC cases ( P < 0.05). Hypoxia increased ENO1 expression in PDAC and promoted its migration and invasion. Apoptotic cells and the apoptosis marker caspase-3 in the CoCl 2 -treated ENO1-sh group were significantly elevated ( P < 0.05). Transcriptomic sequencing indicated that CoCl 2 -induced PDAC cells initiated MAPK signaling. Under hypoxic conditions, PDAC cells upregulated ENO1 expression, thereby accelerating ERK phosphorylation and inhibiting apoptosis ( P < 0.05). Consistent results were also observed in a PDAC-bearing mouse hindlimb ischemia model., Conclusions: Hypoxia-induced ENO1 expression promotes ERK phosphorylation and inhibits apoptosis, thus leading to PDAC survival and invasion. This study investigated the formation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in a mutton intramuscular fat model system containing epicatechin under various reaction conditions using multivariate statistical analysis, and established the optimal equations for PAHs prediction. Results indicated that at 100-180 °C for 10-60 min, epicatechin inhibited the formation of naphthalene, acenaphthylene, phenanthrene, anthracene, benz[a]anthracene and benzo[g,h,i]perylene by 10-37 %, 11-32 %, 9-100 %, 27-56 %, 100 % and 6-18 %, respectively. Polynomial equation third-order model with R 2 at 0.87-0.98 and R 2 at 0.80-0.95 well fitted for the formation of PAHs under various temperatures and times, respectively. The correlation coefficients of calibration set (R 2 c ) and validation set (R 2 v ) were 0.92 and 0.81 for naphthalene, 0.84 and 0.84 for acenaphthylene, 0.99 and 0.98 for phenanthrene, 0.97 and 0.95 for anthracene, 0.91 and 0.80 for benzo[g,h,i]perylene, respectively, which suggested good mathematical models for the PAHs formation rules. Recent studies have shown that the Total Generalized Variation (TGV) is highly effective in preserving sharp features as well as smooth transition variations for image processing tasks. However, currently there is no existing work that is suitable for applying TGV to 3D data, in particular, triangular meshes. In this article, we develop a novel framework for discretizing second-order TGV on triangular meshes. Further, we propose a TGV-based variational method for the denoising of face normal fields on triangular meshes. The TGV regularizer in our method is composed of a first-order term and a second-order term, which are automatically balanced. The first-order term allows our TGV regularizer to locate and preserve sharp features, while the second-order term allows our regularizer to recognize and recover smoothly curved regions. To solve the optimization problem, we introduce an efficient iterative algorithm based on variable-splitting and augmented Lagrangian method. Extensive results and comparisons on synthetic and real scanning data validate that the proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art visually and numerically.

This paper studies the microstructure and mechanical properties of MIG (Melt Inert Gas) lap welded 6005 aluminum alloy plates. Microstructure analysis (OM) of the joint showed that 15~30 μm small grains were observed at the fusion line. Mechanical analysis shows that the small grains are broken by shielding gas and molten pool flow force. Hardness test shows that there is a softening zone (41~43 HV) in HAZ much lower than BM and WZ. The low cycle fatigue test showed that the performance of lap joint decreased sharply, and the fatigue strength of weld decreased significantly, which was only 27.34% of the base metal. The fatigue fracture (SEM) of the weld observed slip band cracking and a large number of brittle fracture characteristics. Using the stress concentration factor Kt for analysis, it was found that the cause of brittle fracture was mostly stress concentration. Lap joint stress concentration model appears in two ways: firstly, at the weld toe, the weld is subjected to eccentric force, secondly, there is a small gap between the two plates at the weld root, which cracks along the direction of 45° of the maximum shear stress.

Background: Currently, the molecular mechanism of the interaction between lncRNAs and microRNAs (miRNAs) and the target of miRNAs in tumor vasculogenic mimicry (VM) formation have not been clarified. Our aim is to study the interaction between lncRNA n339260 and miRNA30e-5p in the formation of VM., Methods: Animal xenografts were established, 104 hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients' frozen tissues were obtained and HCC cells in vitro were used to observe the role of n339260 in HCC progression., Results: In vivo experiment showed lncRNA n339260 promoted tumor growth and VM formation. LncRNA n339260 and miRNA30e-5p were found to be associated with VM formation, metastasis and survival time in HCC patients. In vitro experiment showed that LncRNA n339260 could inhibit miRNA30e-5p expression and TP53INP1 was found to be the downstream targets of miRNA30e-5p. Snail, MMP2, MMP9, VE-cadherin, vimentin and N-cadherin overexpression and the downregulation of TP53INP1 and E-cadherin were observed in HCCLM3 and HepG2 cells overexpressing lncRNA n339260 or in cells with decreased expression of miRNA30e-5p., Conclusion: LncRNA n339260 promotes the development of VM, and lncRNA n339260 may enhance Snail expression by decreasing the expression of miRNA30e-5p, thereby reducing TP53INP1 expression. Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the expression and prognostic significance of PIK3CB in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and to analyse the possible molecular mechanism that promotes LUAD development., Methods: Differences of PIK3CB expression at transcriptional level between LUAD and normal tissues were analysed with the Timer and UALCAN databases. Then, immunohistochemical staining was performed to investigate PIK3CB expression at the protein level, and relationships between PIK3CB and clinical characteristics were accessed. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression were performed to identify the independent prognostic risk factors for LUAD. Genetic alterations were analysed using the cBioPortal database. The main coexpressed genes and enrichment pathways of PIK3CB were estimated with the LinkedOmics database., Results: Compared with normal tissues, PIK3CB was higherly expressed in LUAD at the transcriptional level and protein level, respectively. PIK3CB expression was closely related to prognosis of LUAD patients, and PIK3CB protein expression was associated with lymph node metastasis and pathological differentiation, but not related to sex, age, pleural invasion, vascular invasion, tumour site, tumour size or clinical stage. PIK3CB and tumour size were independent risk factors for LUAD patients. The expression of PIK3CB was negatively correlated with AKT1 and AKT2, but there was no significant correlation with AKT3, and strong positive correlations with ARMC8, DNAJC13 and PIK3R4. The main enrichment pathways of PIK3CB and related genes included adherens junctions and the phosphatidylinositol signalling pathways, ErbB signalling pathways, Hedgehog signalling pathways, and C-type lectin receptor signalling pathways. Therefore, we hypothesized that PIK3CB expression did not promote LUAD development through the classical PI3K/AKT pathway., Conclusion: High PIK3CB expression was associated with the development of LUAD and worse prognosis. PIK3CB was an independent risk factor for LUAD patients. Flavour is a crucial sensory element that determines the consumers' preference for food and beverages. In this study, we determined the effects of complex gum arabic (GA) and tannic acid (TA) on the aroma release of flavour oil emulsions in vitro by simulating oral processing conditions. GA and TA were used to stabilize flavour oil emulsions. Visualization of in vitro retention using ex vivo porcine tongue, detection of aroma release in the model mouth, and sensory evaluation of flavour emulsions were performed to determine the effect of TA and GA. The results indicated that the retention of emulsions and the release of aroma compounds were modulated by TA and GA, which could be because of interactions that occurred between GA and TA in emulsions and mucins on the tongue. Purpose: Hidden blood loss (HBL) is a growing area of interest for spinal surgeons. Simultaneously, spine surgeons' pursuit of minimally invasive spine surgery has never ceased, as evidenced by the increasing number of articles comparing percutaneous endoscopic transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (Endo-TLIF) and minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (Mis-TLIF). However, there has been no comparison of HBL between Endo-TLIF and Mis-TLIF. This study aimed to compare HBL, visible blood loss (VBL), and total blood loss (TBL) following Endo-TLIF and Mis-TLIF and evaluate the clinical significance of these procedures., Methods: Between October 2017 and October 2019, 370 patients underwent lumbar interbody fusion at our institution and were followed up for at least 24 months. Our study included 41 Endo-TLIF and 43 Mis-TLIF cases. We recorded each patient's age, height, weight, and haematocrit and calculated the TBL, which was used to indirectly obtain the HBL. Additionally, we compared the clinical outcomes of these two groups, including visual analogue scores for the lumbar spine and leg (VAS-Back; VAS-Leg), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) scores, disease type, operative segment, and intervertebral fusion and complication rates., Results: Endo-TLIF had significantly lower HBL, VBL, and TBL values than Mis-TLIF (P < 0.05 for all). Although Endo-TLIF contained significantly less HBL than Mis-TLIF, the HBL to TBL ratio was statistically greater in Endo-TLIF (91%) than in Mis-TLIF (87%). Concerning clinical outcomes, VAS-Back, VAS-Leg, ODI, JOA, and Endo-TLIF demonstrated greater improvement rates than Mis-TLIF one week post-operatively. However, at the final follow-up, VAS-Back, VAS-Leg, ODI, and JOA scores all demonstrated a trend toward sustained improvement, with no statistically significant between-procedure difference. There were no statistically significant between-procedure differences in disease type, surgical segment, and complication or fusion rates., Conclusion: Endo-TLIF significantly reduced HBL, VBL, and TBL compared to Mis-TLIF and improved short-term clinical outcomes; however, long-term clinical outcomes and fusion rates remained comparable between the two groups, as did the incidence of peri-operative complications., (© 2022. Background: There is a lack of information about regulatory T cells (Tregs) and inflammatory phenotypes in patients with asthma. In this study, we aimed to compare the characteristics of Tregs in patients with eosinophilic asthma., Methods: Forty healthy and 120 stable asthmatic patients were recruited. Sputum and airway inflammatory phenotypes were assessed, and all patients were followed for one year. Human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were collected and stimulated with phytohemagglutinin (PHA) and Dermatophagoides farina (Derp) to detect CD4+CD25+FOXP3+T cells and Foxp3 levels. Interleukin (IL)-13, IL-5, IL-17, IL-9, and interferon (IFN)-γ levels were measured., Results: 38.33% of patients had eosinophilic asthma, 13.33% had neutrophilic asthma, 6.67% had mixed granulocytic asthma, and 41.67% had pauci-granulocytic asthma. The eosinophilic asthma patients had a relatively high Asthma Control Test (ACT) score, an increased prediction and improvement FEV1 (%) rate, and elevated total IgE serum levels ( P < 0.05). T helper cell 2 (Th2) cytokines IL-13 and IL-5 were predominantly expressed in the eosinophilic phenotype, while the Th1 cytokine IFN-γ and Th17 cytokine were found in the neutrophilic phenotype. IL-10 was significantly lower in eosinophilic asthmatic patients compared to the controls ( P < 0.05). CD4+CD25+FOXP3+T cells (%Tregs) and Foxp3 gene expression in the PHA stimulated eosinophilic asthma samples were significantly lower compared to the control samples ( P < 0.05). The airway inflammation phenotypes remained stable after one-year of therapy., Conclusion: Asthmatic patients with the eosinophilic phenotype in this study were deficient in Tregs, as characterized by a Th2 cell-biased pattern.

Objective: This meta-analytic study examined the effects of exercise training on depressive symptoms in mild stroke patients and the moderating effects of exercise type, therapeutic method, culture, sex, and gross domestic product (GDP) in the patient's country., Methods: The Metafor package in R was chosen to conduct the meta-analysis, and the quality of each empirical study was evaluated according to the grading system in Cochrane. We included 36 empirical studies and 1477 patients., Results: The results showed that the treatment effect of exercise training on depression in mild stroke patients was significant. The moderating effects of culture and therapeutic method were significant, but not for exercise type, sex, or GDP in the patient's country. The moderating effect of culture can be explained by the therapeutic method in different cultures., Conclusion: Fitness exercise is an effective method for improving depressive symptoms in mild stroke patients. Background: With the aging population growth in the world, the prevalence of osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) is rapidly increasing and receiving widespread attention. Although there are numerous articles on the topic, the research status and hotspot analysis are unclear., Objective: The goal of this study is to identify trends in the OVCF field and to analyze the most highly cited original articles published in the Web of Science Index on OVCF using bibliometric analysis., Methods: All OVCF data were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection, and the number of citations, institutions, journals, countries, and years of publication in this field were visually analyzed using VOSviewer, the bibliometrics online analysis platform, and Excel software. Simultaneously, the top 100 most cited articles were extracted and analyzed., Results: A total of 756 publications were related to OVCF were included from 1900 to 2022. In recent years, the number of articles on OVCF significantly increased. They are mainly from 41 countries/regions and 202 journals, led by China and the United States. Among all countries, China had the most significant contribution on OVCF (n = 363), and it also was cited most often (n = 3337). The institution with the most articles was Soochow University (n = 40). Osteoporosis International was the journal with most studies and has published 50 on this field. The journal of Spine was cited most often (n = 1968). The most productive periods were from 2016 to 2020, which received 294 articles and 4868 citations. After the analysis, the "vertebroplasty" and "kyphoplasty" of OVCF have been the most common research hotspots., Conclusion: This study represents an updated bibliometric analysis of OVCF. Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequent malignancy in women worldwide and the leading cause of female cancer-associated death in the world. Grainyhead-like 2 ( GRHL2 ) is an important gene involved in human cancer progression. However, the role of GRHL2 in BC is unknown., Methods: In this study, we used in vitro experiments to verify the role of GRHL2 expression in BC progression. We used 14 databases to analyse the expression level of GRHL2 in BC and its prognostic and diagnostic value. In addition, the correlation between GRHL2 expression and immune cell infiltration and DNA methylation was also analysed., Results: At the cellular level, overexpression of GRHL2 induced E-cadherin expression in BC cells with a mesenchymal phenotype and resulted in a hybrid epithelial/mesenchymal (E/M) phenotype, which is more strongly correlated with tumour aggressiveness than a pure mesenchymal phenotype. Through analysis of various databases, we found that tumour tissue had a higher expression level of GRHL2 . High expression of GRHL2 was associated with worse prognosis of BC patients and indicated that GRHL2 had significant diagnostic value. Grainyhead-like 2 is also related to immune infiltration and regulated by DNA methylation. There are differences of spectral characteristics between different types of meat cut, which means the model established using only one type of meat cut for meat quality prediction is not suitable for other meat cut types. A novel portable visible and near-infrared (Vis/NIR) optical system was used to simultaneously predict multiple quality indicators for different commercial meat cut types (silverside, back strap, oyster, fillet, thick flank, and tenderloin) from Small-tailed Han sheep. The correlation coefficients of the calibration set ( R c ) and prediction set ( R p ) of the optimal prediction models were 0.82 and 0.81 for pH, 0.88 and 0.84 for L*, 0.83 and 0.78 for a*, 0.83 and 0.82 for b*, 0.94 and 0.86 for cooking loss, 0.90 and 0.88 for shear force, 0.84 and 0.83 for protein, 0.93 and 0.83 for fat, 0.92 and 0.87 for moisture contents, respectively.
