Motorist's vestibular disorientation syndrome (MVDS) is a disorder in which patients experience dizziness while driving. MVDS is under-reported in the literature, and in clinical practice, it often goes unrecognized. We identified clinical characteristics of patients with MVDS using data from 24 patients who faced difficulties while driving and were diagnosed with MVDS. Their symptoms, duration of illness, precipitating factors, co-morbidities, history of other neuro-otological disorders, severity of symptoms, and associated anxiety and depression were reviewed. Ocular motor movements were recorded using video-nystagmography. Patients with vestibular disorders that can cause similar symptoms while driving were excluded. The mean age of the patients was 45.7 ± 8.7 years, and most were professional drivers (90.5%). The duration of the illness ranged from eight days to ten years. Most patients presented with disorientation (79.2%) exclusively while driving. The most common triggers for symptoms were higher speeds, i.e., >80 km/h (66.7%), multi-lane roads (58.3%), bends and turns (50%), and looking at other vehicles or signals while driving (41.7%). A history of migraines was reported in 62.5% of the patients, and motion sickness was reported in 50% of the patients. Anxiety was reported in 34.3% of patients, and 15.7% had depression. The video-nystagmography did not show any specific abnormalities. Patients responded to drugs used in prophylactic treatments for migraines such as Amitriptyline, Venlafaxine, Bisoprolol, and Magnesium, and to Pregabalin and Gabapentin. Based on these findings, a classification system and a diagnostic criterion for MVDS were proposed.

To address high fire risks of flamable cellulosic materials, that can trigger easy combustion, flame propagation, and release of toxic gases, we report a new fire-retardant approach using synergetic actions combining unique properties of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and hydrated-sodium metaborates (SMB). The single-step treatment of cellulosic materials by a composite suspension of rGO/SMB was developed to create a barrier layer on sawdust surface providing highly effective fire retardant protection with multiple modes of action. These performances are designed considering synergy between properties of hydrated-SMB crystals working as chemical heat-sink to slow down the thermal degradation of the cellulosic particles and gas impermeable rGO layers that prevents access of oxygen and the release of toxic volatiles. The rGO outer layer also creates a thermal and physical barrier by donating carbon between the flame and unburnt wood particles. The fire-retardant performance of developed graphene-borate composite and mechanism of fire protection are demonstrated by testing of different forms of cellulosic materials such as pine sawdust, particle-board, and fiber-based structures. Results revealed their outstanding self-extinguishing behavior with significant resistance to release of toxic and flammable volatiles suggesting rGO/SMB to be suitable alternative to the conventional toxic halogenated flame-retardant materials.

Adhesion behavior of superhydrophobic (SH) surfaces is an active research field related to various engineering applications in controlled microdroplet transportation, self-cleaning, deicing, biochemical separation, tissue engineering, and water harvesting. Herein, we report a facile approach to control droplet adhesion, bouncing and rolling on properties of SH surfaces by tuning their air-gap and roughness-height by altering the concentrations of poly dimethyl-siloxane (PDMS). The optimal use of PDMS (4-16 wt %) in a dual-scale (nano- and microparticles) composite enables control of the specific surface area (SSA), pore volume, and roughness of matrices that result in a well-controlled adhesion between water droplets and SH surfaces. The sliding angles of these surfaces were tuned to be varied between 2 ± 1 and 87 ± 2°, which are attributed to the transformation of the contact type between droplet and surface from "point contact" to "area contact". We further explored the effectiveness of these low and high adhesive SH surfaces in icing and deicing actions, which provides a new insight into design highly efficient and low-cost ice-release surface for cold temperature applications. Low adhesion (lotus effect) surface with higher pore-volume exhibited relatively excellent ice-release properties with significant icing delay ability principally attributed to the large air gap in the coating matrix than SH matrix with high adhesion (petal effect).

The use of polymeric crosslinkers is an attractive method to modify the mechanical properties of supramolecular materials, but their effects on the self-assembly of the underlying supramolecular polymer networks are poorly understood. Electronic energy transfer (EET) between chromophores is of fundamental importance for many biological processes and optoelectronic devices. However, common models fall short in fully describing the process, especially in bichromophoric model systems with a donor and acceptor connected by a rigid linker providing perpendicular geometries. Herein, we report a novel strategy for preparing bichromophores containing adamantane or 2-(2-adamantylidene)adamantane as rigid spacers, providing a fixed distance between chromophores, and their parallel or perpendicular arrangement without chromophore rotation. New fluorophores were developed and linked via spiroatoms. Bichromophores with identical (blue-blue) or different (blue-red) chromophores were synthesized, either in orthogonal or parallel geometry. These were characterized by absorption/fluorescence spectroscopy, time-resolved fluorescence anisotropy, and fluorescence antibunching measurements. Based on the Förster point-dipole approximation, EET efficiencies were estimated by using geometrical parameters from (time-dependent) density functional calculations. For bichromophores with parallel geometry, the predicted EET efficiencies were near unity and fit the measurements. In spite of estimated values around 0.4 and 0.5, 100 % efficiency was observed also for bichromophores with orthogonal geometry. Here, we report a new method to prepare graphene from graphite by the liquid phase exfoliation process with sonication using graphene oxide (GO) as a dispersant. It was found that GO nanosheets act a as surfactant to the mediated exfoliation of graphite into a GO-adsorbed graphene complex in the aqueous solution, from which graphene was separated by an additional process. The preparation of isolated graphene from a single to a few layers is routinely achieved with an exfoliation yield of up to higher than 40% from the initial graphite material. The prepared graphene sheets showed a high quality (C/O ∼ 21.5), low defect (ID/IG ∼ 0.12), and high conductivity (6.2 × 10(4) S/m). Moreover, the large lateral size ranging from 5 to 10 μm of graphene, which is believed to be due to the shielding effect of GO avoiding damage under ultrasonic jets and cavitation formed by the sonication process. The thin graphene film prepared by the spray-coating technique showed a sheet resistance of 668 Ω/sq with a transmittance of 80% at 550 nm after annealing at 350 °C for 3 h. The transparent electrode was even greater with the resistance only 66.02 Ω when graphene is deposited on an interdigitated electrode (1 mm gap). Finally, a flexible sensor based on a graphene spray-coating polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is demonstrated showing excellent performance working under human touch pressure (<10 kPa). The graphene prepared by this method has some distinct properties showing it as a promising material for applications in electronics including thin film coatings, transparent electrodes, wearable electronics, human monitoring sensors, and RFID tags.

A range of bright and photostable rhodamines and carbopyronines with absorption maxima in the range of λ=500-630 nm were prepared, and enabled the specific labeling of cytoskeletal filaments using HaloTag technology followed by staining with 1 μm solutions of the dye-ligand conjugates. The synthesis, photophysical parameters, fluorogenic behavior, and structure-property relationships of the new dyes are discussed. Superhydrophobic surfaces for self-cleaning applications often suffer from mechanical instability and do not function well after abrasion/scratching. To address this problem, we present a method to prepare graphene-based superhydrophobic composite coatings with robust mechanical strength, self-cleaning, and barrier properties. A suspension has been formulated that contains a mixture of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and diatomaceous earth (DE) modified with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) that can be applied on any surface using common coating methods such as spraying, brush painting, and dip coating. Inclusion of TiO2 nanoparticles to the formulation shows further increase in water contact angle (WCA) from 159 ± 2° to 170 ± 2° due to the structural improvement with hierarchical surface roughness. Mechanical stability and durability of the coatings has been achieved by using a commercial adhesive to bond the superhydrophobic "paint" to various substrates. Excellent retention of superhydrophobicity was observed even after sandpaper abrasion and crosscut scratching. A potentiodynamic polarization study revealed excellent corrosion resistance (96.78%) properties, and an acid was used to provide further insight into coating barrier properties. The ease of application and remarkable properties of this graphene-based composite coating show considerable potential for broad application as a self-cleaning and protective layer.

A simple synthetic approach for the preparation of graphene-diatom silica composites in the form of self-assembled aerogels with three-dimensional networks from natural graphite and diatomite rocks is demonstrated for the first time. Their adsorption performance for the removal of mercury from water was studied as a function of contact time, solution pH, and mercury concentration to optimize the reaction conditions. The adsorption isotherm of mercury fitted well with the Langmuir model, representing a very high adsorption capacity of >500 mg of mercury/g of adsorbent. The prepared aerogels exhibited outstanding adsorption performance for the removal of mercury from water, which is significant for environmental applications.

Arsenic (As) is the world's most hazardous chemical found in drinking water of many countries; therefore, there is an urgent need for the development of low-cost adsorbents for its removal. Here, we report a highly versatile and synthetic route for the preparation of a three-dimensional (3D) graphene-iron oxide nanoparticle aerogel composite for the efficient removal of As from contaminated water. This unique three-dimensional (3D) interconnected network was prepared from natural graphite rocks with a simple reaction, without the use of harsh chemicals, which combines with the exfoliation of graphene oxide (GO) sheets via the reduction of ferrous ion to form a graphene aerogel composite decorated with iron oxide nanoparticles. The prepared adsorbent showed outstanding absorption performance for the removal of As from contaminated water, because of its high surface-to-volume ratio and characteristic pore network in the 3D architecture. The performed case study using real drinking water contaminated with As under batch conditions showed successful removal of arsenic to the concentration recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Standard algorithms for phase unwrapping often fail for interferometric quantitative phase imaging (QPI) of biological samples due to the variable morphology of these samples and the requirement to image at low light intensities to avoid phototoxicity. We describe a new algorithm combining random walk-based image segmentation with linear discriminant analysis (LDA)-based feature detection, using assumptions about the morphology of biological samples to account for phase ambiguities when standard methods have failed. We present three versions of our method: first, a method for LDA image segmentation based on a manually compiled training dataset; second, a method using a random walker (RW) algorithm informed by the assumed properties of a biological phase image; and third, an algorithm which combines LDA-based edge detection with an efficient RW algorithm. We show that the combination of LDA plus the RW algorithm gives the best overall performance with little speed penalty compared to LDA alone, and that this algorithm can be further optimized using a genetic algorithm to yield superior performance for phase unwrapping of QPI data from biological samples.

The novel duolayer system, comprising a monolayer of ethylene glycol monooctadecyl ether (C18E1) and the water-soluble polymer poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP), has been shown to resist forces such as wind stress to a greater degree than the C18E1 monolayer alone. This paper reports all-atom molecular dynamics simulations comparing the monolayer (C18E1 alone) and duolayer systems under an applied force parallel to the air/water interface. The simulations show that, due to the presence of PVP at the interface, the duolayer film exhibits an increase in chain tilt, ordering, and density, as well as a lower lateral velocity compared to the monolayer. These results provide a molecular rationale for the improved performance of the duolayer system under wind conditions, as well as an atomic-level explanation for the observed efficacy of the duolayer system as an evaporation suppressant, which may serve as a useful guide for future development for thin films where resistance to external perturbation is desirable.

Understanding, and improving, the behavior of thin surface films under exposure to externally applied forces is important for applications such as mimicking biological membranes, water evaporation mitigation, and recovery of oil spills. This paper demonstrates that the incorporation of a water-soluble polymer into the surface film composition, i.e., formation of a three-duolayer system, shows improved performance under an applied dynamic stress, with an evaporation saving of 84% observed after 16 h, compared to 74% for the insoluble three-monolayer alone. Canal viscometry and spreading rate experiments, performed using the same conditions, demonstrated an increased surface viscosity and faster spreading rate for the three-duolayer system, likely contributing to the observed improvement in dynamic performance. Brewster angle microscopy and dye-tagged polymers were used to visualize the system and demonstrated that the duolayer and monolayer system both form a homogeneous film of uniform, single-molecule thickness, with the excess material compacting into small floating reservoirs on the surface. It was also observed that both components have to be applied to the water surface together in order to achieve improved performance under dynamic conditions. These findings have important implications for the use of surface films in various applications where resistance to external disturbance is required.

Objectives: Determine the incidence of patients at risk for contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN), the incidence of CIN and mid-term effects (renal replacement therapy/death < one month) to measure the impact of CIN in a general patient population undergoing intravenous contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT)., Methods: We conducted a prospective study in consecutive patients undergoing intravenous CECT from October 2012 to May 2013. Data were obtained through scripted interviews and the electronic patient records. Presence of risk factors and kidney function before and after CECT and the follow-up for one month were evaluated., Results: We included 998 patients (mean age: 60 years). Estimated GFR was ≥ 60 ml/mg/1.72 m2 in 886 (88.8%) patients, 30-59 ml/mg/1.72 m2 in 108 (10.8%) patients and < 30 ml/min/1.73 m2 in 4 (0.4%) patients. We found diabetes mellitus in 137 (13.7%), anaemia in 70 (7.0%) congestive heart failure in 92 (9.2%), peripheral arterial disease in 34 (3.4%), age > 75 years in 126 (12.6%) patients and 301 (30.2%) used nephrotoxic medication. Fifty-eight (5.8%) patients were at risk for CIN; 35 (60.3%) risk patients received intravenous prophylactic hydration. Of the hydrated patients, 11 underwent follow-up within one week; of the non-hydrated patients seven underwent follow-up within one week. Two (2/58: 3.4%) patients developed CIN (increased serum creatinine ≥ 44 μmol/l or ≥ 25%); there was no difference between hydrated and non-hydrated patients (1/35:1/23). The incidence of renal replacement therapy and death within one month was zero for both., Conclusion: The number of patients at risk is low. CIN incidence is low, even in patients not receiving prophylactic hydration. No patients received renal replacement therapy or died. The impact of CIN is low. Extensive CIN prevention guidelines seem superfluous.

Objective: To assess which risk factors can be used to reduce superfluous estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) measurements before intravenous contrast medium administration., Methods: In consecutive patients, all decreased eGFR risk factors were assessed: diabetes mellitus (DM), history of urologic/nephrologic disease (HUND), nephrotoxic medication, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, age > 60 years, anaemia, malignancy and multiple myeloma/M. Waldenström. We studied four models: (1) all risk factors, (2) DM, HUND, hypertension, age > 60 years; (3) DM, HUND, cardiovascular disease, hypertension; (4) DM, HUND, age > 75 years and congestive heart failure. For each model, association with eGFR < 60 ml/min/1.73 m(2) or eGFR < 45 ml/min/1.73 m(2) was studied., Results: A total of 998 patients, mean age 59.94 years were included; 112 with eGFR < 60 ml/min/1.73 m(2) and 30 with eGFR < 45 ml/min/1.73 m(2). Model 1 detected 816 patients: 108 with eGFR < 60 ml/min/1.73 m(2) and all 30 with eGFR < 45 ml/min/1.73 m(2). Model 2 detected 745 patients: 108 with eGFR < 60 ml/min/1.73 m(2) and all 30 with eGFR < 45 ml/min/1.73 m(2). Model 3 detected 622 patients: 100 with eGFR < 60 ml/min/1.73 m(2) and all 30 with eGFR < 45 ml/min/1.73 m(2). Model 4 detected 440 patients: 86 with eGFR < 60 ml/min/1.73 m(2) and all 30 with eGFR < 45 ml/min/1.73 m(2). Associations were significant (p < 0.001)., Conclusion: Model 4 is most effective, resulting in the lowest proportion of superfluous eGFR measurements while detecting all patients with eGFR < 45 ml/min/1.73 m(2) and most with eGFR < 60 ml/min/1.73 m(2)., Key Points: A major risk factor for contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) is kidney disease. Risk factors are used to identify patients with pre-existent kidney disease. Evidence for risk factors to identify patients with kidney disease is limited. The number of eGFR measurements to detect kidney disease can be reduced.

The synthesis, reactivity, and photophysical properties of new rhodamines with intense red fluorescence, two polar residues (hydroxyls, primary phosphates, or sulfonic acid groups), and improved hydrolytic stability of the amino-reactive sites (NHS esters or mixed N-succinimidyl carbonates) are reported. All fluorophores contain an N-alkyl-1,2-dihydro-2,2,4-trimethylquinoline fragment, and most of them bear a fully substituted tetrafluoro phenyl ring with a secondary carboxamide group. The absorption and emission maxima in water are in the range of 635-639 and 655-659 nm, respectively. A vastly simplified approach to red-emitting rhodamines with two phosphate groups that are compatible with diverse functional linkers was developed. As an example, a phosphorylated dye with an azide residue was prepared and was used in a click reaction with a strained alkyne bearing an N-hydroxysuccinimid (NHS) ester group. This method bypasses the undesired activation of phosphate groups, and gives an amphiphilic amino-reactive dye, the solubility and distribution of which between aqueous and organic phases can be controlled by varying the pH. The presence of two hydroxyl groups and a phenyl ring with two carboxyl residues in the dyes with another substitution pattern is sufficient for providing the hydrophilic properties. Selective formation of a mono-N-hydroxysuccinimidyl ester from 5-carboxy isomer of this rhodamine is reported. The fluorescence quantum yields varied from 58 to 92% for free fluorophores, and amounted to 18-64% for antibody conjugates in aqueous buffers. The brightness and photostability of these fluorophores facilitated two-color stimulated emission depletion (STED) fluorescence nanoscopy of biological samples with high contrast and minimal background. Purpose: To summarize the incidence of contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) and associations between CIN incidence and risk factors in patients undergoing intravenous contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) with low- or iso-osmolar iodinated contrast medium., Methods: This review is performed in accordance with the preferred reporting items in systematic reviews and meta-analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. We searched the MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane databases from 2002 till November 2012. Two reviewers included papers and extracted data. The pooled data were analysed by either fixed or random-effects approach depending on heterogeneity defined as the I(2) index., Results: 42 articles with 18,790 patients (mean age 61.5 years (range: 38-83 years)) were included. The mean baseline eGFR was 59.8 mL/min and ranged from 4 to 256 mL/min. Of all patients 45.0% had an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR)<60 mL/min, 55.2% had hypertension; 20.2% had diabetes mellitus (DM) and 6.5% had congestive heart failure (CHF). The overall pooled CIN incidence, defined as a SCr increase of ≥ 25% or ≥ 0.5mg/dL, was 4.96% (95%CI: 3.79-6.47). Data analysis showed associations between CIN and the presence of renal insufficiency, DM, malignancy, age>65 years and use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID's) with odds ratios of 1.73 (95%CI: 1.06-2.82), 1.87 (95%CI: 1.55-2.26), 1.79 (95%CI: 1.03-3.11), 1.95 (95%CI: 1.02-3.70) and 2.32 (95%CI: 1.04-5.19), respectively while hypertension, anaemia and CFH were not associated (p=0.13, p=0.38, p=0.40)., Conclusion: The mean incidence of CIN after intravenous iodinated CECT was low and associated with renal insufficiency, diabetes, presence of malignancy, old age and NSAID's use., (Copyright © 2013 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. Mixed monolayers of 1-octadecanol (C18OH) and ethylene glycol monooctadecyl ether (C18E1) were studied to assess their evaporation suppressing performance. An unexpected increase in performance and stability was found around the 0.5:0.5 bicomponent mixture and has been ascribed to a synergistic effect of the monolayers. Molecular dynamics simulations have attributed this to an additional hydrogen bonding interaction between the monolayer and water, due to the exposed ether oxygen of C18E1 in the mixed system compared to the same ether oxygen in the pure C18E1 system. This interaction is maximized around the 0.5:0.5 ratio due to the particular interfacial geometry associated with this mixture.

The foamability of a triblock copolymer solution was strongly influenced by the presence of particles. The stability of the foam was evaluated by measuring the foam volume, the drainage of water and particles, and the bubble size as a function of time. The higher stability of foams produced with hydrophilic quartz particles, compared with hydrophobic graphite particles, was related to the presence of quartz aggregates in the lamellae and Plateau borders reducing water drainage, and therefore thin film rupture and bubble coalescence. The copolymer adsorbed slightly more on the hydrophobic graphite, causing the particles to disperse and drain, with the water out of the foam, whereas the hydrophilic quartz aggregated and remain in the lamellar and Plateau borders of the foam., (Copyright 2010 Elsevier Inc. Introduction: Decellularized cryopreserved allograft vascular tissue may provide a nonimmunogenic scaffold that is suitable for repopulation by cells from a variety of sources, conferring the potential for growth and repair. Although dimethyl sulfoxide (Me(2)SO) is generally regarded as a safe cryoprotectant, even low levels may alter function of repopulating cells. We investigated the residual concentration of Me(2)SO in the aqueous compartment of cryopreserved ovine aortic valve conduits following decellularization., Materials and Methods: Aortic valve conduits from Suffolk sheep were cryopreserved in 1.1 M (7.5% vol/vol) Me(2)SO according to the protocol of our local tissue bank. Three aortic valve conduits were decellularized in a series of hypotonic and hypertonic Tris buffers. Tissue samples were taken at regular time intervals throughout the decellularization process and equilibrated in double distilled, deionized H(2)O for 28 days. Quantitative proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy was used to determine the residual Me(2)SO concentration in the equilibration solutions from which Me(2)SO tissue concentrations were calculated., Results: After thawing, the mean Me(2)SO concentration in the valve conduit was 0.302 +/- 0.081 M. The decellularization process resulted in a stepwise reduction in the Me(2)SO concentration to less than 8.56 x 10(-5) +/- 9 x 10(-5) M (P = 0.02). The diffusion coefficient was 2.5 x 10(-6) cm(2)/s., Conclusions: Our study demonstrates that Me(2)SO is effectively washed out of the aortic valve conduit during decellularization, resulting in a final concentration that is several orders of magnitude less than Me(2)SO concentrations reported to alter cell function.

Kidney transplantation has become a victim of its own success. Despite measures to increase the number of donors, success to date has been limited. At the Western Infirmary, we used an organ that had been transplanted earlier. The patient who received that organ has since been followed up for more than 2 years, and no issues have arisen regarding functioning of the graft. Although it does not increase the donor pool, we believe that domino kidney transplantation ought to be considered when the situation merits it.

Viral entry inhibitors represent an emerging mode of therapy for human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection. PRO 542 (CD4-immunoglobulin G2) is a tetravalent CD4-immunoglobulin fusion protein that broadly neutralizes primary HIV-1 isolates. PRO 542 binds to the viral surface glycoprotein gp120 and blocks attachment and entry of virus into CD4(+) cells. Previously, PRO 542 demonstrated antiviral activity without significant toxicity when tested at single doses ranging to 10 mg/kg. In this study, 12 HIV-infected individuals were treated with 25-mg/kg single-dose PRO 542 and then monitored for safety, antiviral effects, and PRO 542 pharmacokinetics for 6 weeks. The study examined two treatment cohorts that differed in the extent of HIV-1 disease progression. PRO 542 at 25 mg/kg was well tolerated and demonstrated a serum half-life of 3 days. Statistically significant acute reductions in HIV-1 RNA levels were observed across all study patients, and greater antiviral effects were observed in the cohort of patients with more advanced HIV-1 disease. In advanced disease (HIV-1 RNA > 100,000 copies/ml; CD4 lymphocytes < 200 cells/mm(3)), PRO 542 mediated an 80% response rate and statistically significant approximately 0.5 log(10) mean reductions in viral load for 4 to 6 weeks posttreatment. Similar findings were obtained in an analysis of all (n = 11) advanced disease patients treated to date with single doses of PRO 542 ranging from 1 to 25 mg/kg. In addition, a significant correlation was observed between antiviral effects observed in vivo and viral susceptibility to PRO 542 in vitro. The findings support continued development of PRO 542 for salvage therapy of advanced HIV-1 disease.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of medium-dose UVA1 phototherapy in patients with localized scleroderma., Method: A controlled pilot study with medium-dose UVA1 (48 J/cm2) was performed. The results were evaluated by means of a skin score and two objective methods for quantifying sclerosis (cutometer and fast Fourier transform method). Patients were treated 4 times a week for 5 weeks. The follow-up period was 12 weeks., Results: All patients responded to therapy. Skin score and cutometer results showed improvement of skin elasticity of treated skin compared to control skin. Fast Fourier transform measurements showed no change in bundle orientation ratio and spacing., Conclusion: We concluded that treatment for 12 weeks 4 times a week with medium-dose UVA1 may be a beneficial therapy and a well-tolerated treatment modality for localized scleroderma (morphea). After 12 weeks, improvement of skin sclerosis can be detected by skin score and cutometer measurements but not by the fast Fourier transform method., (Copyright 2003 S. Karger AG, Basel)
