A 64-channel planar gradiometer system with a baseline of 50 mm, fabricated from Nb thin films on Si wafers using thin film processes developed to measure magnetocardiogram (MCG) signals is demonstrated.

The mutlichannel magnetocardiogram (MCG) systems of 1 magnetometer type and 2 planar gradiometer types which were fabricated to compare the MCG data measured using different pickup coil system are reported.

The development of a new type of magnetocardiograph (MCG) system employing 6 high-[T.sub.C] SQUID magnetometers with high performance YBCO SQUID devices is presented.

Fabrication of YBCO dc superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometers based on bicrystal junctions is carried out for the magnetocardiograph measurements. The demonstration of magnetocardiograph measurements showed results with high signal-to-noise ratio of 82 with a moderate magnetic shielding.

Very high electric field ionization of Pr(super 3+) center in the SrS: Pr, F white light emitting phosphor yields the fundamental electroluminescence (EL) emission process. EL emission processes are also yielded by optical luminescence and capturing of electrons through the excited state. Substitution of Sr ions by an isolated Mn emission produced the EL emission in the thin film electroluminescent device spectrum.

The electron emission properties of screen-printed nanotubes are investigated through scanning electron microscopy and emission current-voltage characteristics by applying a critical bias field instead of conventional surface treatments. The enhancement of the alignment of carbon nanotubes to the vertical direction has resulted in an increase in the field-enhancement factor.
