Abstract Background Rabbit hemorrhagic disease (RHD) is an acute infectious disease that damages the rabbit industry by producing significant mortality rates in young and adult rabbits. RHD is better controlled by vaccination. Objective The current study's goal was to prepare and evaluate the immuno-enhancing effect of montanide ISA70 and aluminum hydroxide (Al(OH)3) gel incorporated within the inactivated RHDV2 vaccine and assess the vaccine's protective efficacy against the homologous and heterologous local RHDV2 strains in rabbits. Methods Inactivated RHDV vaccines were prepared using Montanide ISA70 oil or Al(OH)3 gel adjuvants and submitted to sterility, safety, and potency tests. 200 rabbits were equally divided into 4 groups: G1 (control), G2 (vaccinated with gel-incorporated vaccine), G3 (vaccinated with montanide-incorporated vaccine), and G4 (vaccinated with gel- and montanide-incorporated vaccines). Individual blood samples were collected from one week to six months from all groups. The vaccine's potency was measured by the HI test and protection percentage post challenge. Results Data revealed slightly increasing HI titer means reaching the 1st peak at 4 weeks post-vaccination (7.33, 7.67, and 7.33 log2 in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th groups, respectively), then slightly decreasing and peaked again, giving 9.33 log2 for the2nd group at 3 months post-vaccination (MPV), 10.67 log2 for 3rd the group, and 10.33 log2 for the 4th group at 5 months post-vaccination. Titer gradually decreased but remained protective. The protection rate ranged from 80–100% and 80–90% for homologous and heterologous local RHDV2 vaccines, respectively, within 3 weeks and 6 months post-challenge. The montanide oil RHDV2 vaccine induced better protection than the aluminum gel RHDV2 vaccine. Conclusion The results demonstrated evidence of cross-protection between RHDV2 strains. The oil emulsion vaccine induced higher and longer-lasting antibody titers than those obtained with the RHDV2 aluminum gel vaccine.

Bilateral edematous optic disc swelling from papilledema is caused by elevated intracranial pressure (ICP). Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), a clinical syndrome with elevated ICP of unclear etiology, is a frequent cause of this condition. IIH typically affects obese middle-aged females. Papilledema usually has a fairly symmetrical bilateral pattern. Unilateral papilledema is a rare disorder that must be detected early to avoid optic nerve damage. However, the etiology of unilateral papilledema remains unclear. Based on bilateral optic nerve sheath diameter measurements, we aimed to find an explanation for the unilaterality in this rare case.

Abstract Newly synthesized vaccines prepared from formalin-killed bacteria Streptococcus pyogenes were investigated in the current study to evaluate the effectiveness of the newly synthesized vaccine as well as their safety by injected intraperitoneal. The study involved several steps 1st step is the preparation of the vaccine followed by the 2nd step: Evaluate the effectiveness and vaccine safety against pathogenic S. pyogenes through 4 different groups including control (Group I). Group II (Bacterial, infected group), Group III (Vaccine), and the Last group was the challenged group after the vaccination (Vacc + Bac). Different Immunological and biochemical parameters were measured in addition to hematological and histopathological examinations. For example, oxidative/antioxidants, inflammatory biomarkers, fragmentation and cell damage, and finally the histopathological study. The current study showed an increase in all oxidative, inflammatory, and cell damage (DNA fragmentation assays), additionally markedly elevation in histopathological cell damage in the infected group (Group II) compared with the control group. The vaccine and challenged after vaccination group (vaccine + Bacteria), showed great improvement in oxidative biomarkers (LPO) and an increase in antioxidants biomarkers (GSH, SOD, GST, DPPH, ABTS, GR and GPx), Also the inflammation and histopathological examination. The newly synthesized vaccine improved the resistance of Oreochromis niloticus and can be used as a preventive therapy agent for pathogenic bacteria S. pyogenes.

Background and purpose: Researches show that limited models have been designed to measure the maturity of digital transformation in libraries, however, no valid and reliable tool has been provided to measure the maturity of digital transformation in academic libraries so far. Identifying the factors affecting the maturity of digital transformation and managing its correct use in the libraries of medical sciences universities is of particular importance in improving the efficiency and effectiveness and as a result, the success and growth of the libraries. Therefore, the purpose of the current research is to compile and validate a suitable tool to determine the factors affecting the maturity of digital transformation in the libraries of medical sciences universities. Materials and methods: The type of qualitative (exploratory) study was based on the plan of developing the tool, which was carried out in two phases: in the first phase, to collect information related to the identification of factors affecting the maturity of digital transformation, the meta-composite method was used under “ Sandelowski and Barroso's model. Then, in the second phase of the Delphi method, the factors were localized and adapted to the topic. The intended community in the met composite section was all related sources from reliable databases, with 82 sources. After extracting, screening, and considering the input and output criteria of the researchers, 41 Persian and Latin sources were selected. The statistical population in the Delphi phase included 15 professors and experts in the field of digital maturity and digital technologies in universities of medical sciences who were selected in a non-probable and purposeful way according to the criteria for entering the research (relevance of work experience and organizational position and field of study of the experts to the subject research, conflict with the discussed issue, having at least 5 years of work experience) as samples. The measurement tool was a structured questionnaire of 69 questions created by the researcher, which was compiled by reviewing the previous findings and then sent to the experts in two stages with the help of the fuzzy Delphi technique, and finally 61 final questions were obtained. Results: In this research, based on the findings of the meta-combination section, 69 primary categories for the maturity of digital transformation were identified first by reviewing the literature and backgrounds. Then, in the next step, a relationship was established between these categories, and they were categorized into 13 items. Then, the identified main categories were divided into 2 general categories (internal and external factors). Then, for quality control, the validity and internal reliability of check methods were used. The size of the Kappa coefficient (0.78) in this research indicated the good internal reliability of the obtained results. Finally, for validation, the developed tool was provided to the members of the Delphi panel, which had 15 members. After two stages of fuzzy Delphi and after making corrections and removing irrelevant items (8 items) and the agreement score of experts in the rest of the factors (61 items), it was observed that the disagreement of experts in the first and second steps did not have a significant difference and the agreement score of experts in all commons was more than 70%; therefore, the survey was stopped in the second stage, and all factors were confirmed. The results of the fuzzy Delphi analysis led to the confirmation of 61 items of the digital transformation maturity questionnaire in the libraries of medical sciences universities in 2 main components (inter-organizational factors and extra-organizational factors) and 13 subcomponents. Conclusion: The developed tool provides researchers with criteria for determining the state of maturity for digital transformation in the libraries of medical sciences universities. The discovered factors include 10 internal organizational factors (digital culture development, digital infrastructure development factor, new technology infrastructure development factor, human resources development factor, management resource development factor, digital strategy development factor, digital support factor, organizational rules and regulations factor, financial resources factor and experience development factor (digital users) and 3 components of extra-organizational factors (collaboration and support of upstream and academic institutions, the factor of development of national culture in the field of digital transformation and the factor of national laws and regulations) which can be used as a suitable tool to measure the maturity of digital transformation in libraries.

Abstract Using recent information and communication technologies for monitoring and management initiates a revolution in the smart grid. These technologies generate massive data that can only be processed using big data tools. This paper emphasizes the role of big data in resolving load forecasting, renewable energy sources integration, and demand response as significant aspects of smart grids. Meters data from the Low Carbon London Project is investigated as a case study. Because of the immense stream of meters' readings and exogenous data added to load forecasting models, addressing the problem is in the context of big data. Descriptive analytics are developed using Spark SQL to get insights regarding household energy consumption. Spark MLlib is utilized for predictive analytics by building scalable machine learning models accommodating meters' data streams. Multivariate polynomial regression and decision tree models are preferred here based on the big data point of view and the literature that ensures they are accurate and interpretable. The results confirmed the descriptive analytics and data visualization capabilities to provide valuable insights, guide the feature selection process, and enhance load forecasting models' accuracy. Accordingly, proper evaluation of demand response programs and integration of renewable energy resources is accomplished using achieved load forecasting results.

Objective: Staging workup and detection of distant metastases is important in newly diagnosed breast cancer in order to make treatment decisions and establish the prognosis. There is wide variation in current recommendations for staging investigations in breast cancer. Routine staging is performed for all patients in Bahrain because of lack of consistent guidelines. Optimization of the criteria for staging is important for identification of metastases, while minimizing harm and costs. The aim of this study was to evaluate factors associated with distant metastases in newly diagnosed patients with breast cancer, in order to establish local guidelines for proper selection of patients for systemic staging. Materials and Methods: Patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer at Salmaniya Medical Complex in Bahrain who underwent staging investigations between January 2016 and December 2022 were identified from a pathology database. Patients with previous history of cancer, synchronous tumors, bilateral breast cancer and ductal carcinoma in situ were excluded. Clinical, radiological and pathological data were retrospectively analyzed. Results: A total of 593 patients underwent staging computed tomography and bone scans or a PET scan. Distant metastases were identified in 20.7% of cases. M1 disease was significantly associated with multifocality/multicentricity, high grade tumors, hormone receptor-negative cancers, high Ki67 index, advanced tumor stage, node-positive disease, triple-negative breast cancer, use of PET scans and those who underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Age was not associated with identification of distant metastases. Conclusion: The prevalence of distant metastases in this population of newly diagnosed patients with breast cancer was higher than previously reported. Routine staging of all patients at presentation was not indicated, especially for asymptomatic patients with early breast cancer. This study identified certain groups of patients with a higher risk of distant metastasis, in whom metastatic workup should be performed. These findings may allow for the development of a local guideline that addresses the question of which breast cancer patients need staging investigations for distant metastases.

Nefazodone, a derivative of triazolones, belongs to a group of heterocyclic aromatic compounds. It is used as an antidepressant for treating depression, including major depressive disorder. Unlike other antidepressant groups such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, or monoamine oxidase inhibitors, Nefazodone does not share chemical similarities. Recent research has focused on studying the reactivity and chemical structure influenced by Nefazodone's medicinal features in the drug's adsorption process on single-wall Carbon Nanotube (CNT) as an adsorbent in the gas phase using density functional theory (DFT), Becke, 3-parameter, Lee–Yang–Parr (B3LYP) 6-311+G(d,p) basis set (DFT/B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p)). The effect of electronegative atoms and phenyl groups on the adsorption of Nefazodone on CNT has been studied by calculating the adsorption energy for all active sites. On the other hand, thermodynamic values, such as Gibbs free energy (−4873.09 kJ), Enthalpy (−4872.83 kJ), and Entropy (903.09 J/mol.kelvin), as well as thermodynamic capacity (497.45 J/mol.kelvin), were calculated to show the reactivity of Nefazodone. The stability and reactivity were examined through the energies of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) (−5.53 eV) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) (−0.58 eV) of Nefazodone, highlighting ten regions with chemical activity, all of which are thermodynamically stable. Some Electronic parameters such as chemical potential (µ), electronegativity (χ), softness (σ), hardness (η), and electrophilicity index (ω) were calculated. The comparison of chemical potential values between Nefazodone(−3.05 eV) and the more stable complex (−3.81 eV) illustrates the more reactivity for the complex. This suggests that Nefazodone can be transferred to biological systems through such an adsorption mechanism.

Abstract Emerging technologies are continually redefining the paradigms of smart farming and opening up avenues for more precise and informed farming practices. A tiny machine learning (TinyML)‐based framework is proposed for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)‐assisted smart farming applications. The practical deployment of such a framework on the UAV and bespoke internet of things (IoT) sensors which measure soil moisture and ambient environmental conditions is demonstrated. The key objective of this framework is to harness TinyML for implementing transfer learning (TL) using deep neural networks (DNNs) and long short‐term memory (LSTM) ML models. As a case study, this framework is employed to predict soil moisture content for smart agriculture applications, guiding optimal water utilisation for crops through time‐series forecasting models. To the best of authors’ knowledge, a framework which leverages UAV‐assisted TL for the edge internet of things using TinyML has not been investigated previously. The TL‐based framework employs a pre‐trained data model on different but similar applications and data domains. Not only do the authors demonstrate the practical deployment of the proposed framework but they also quantify its performance through real‐world deployment. This is accomplished by designing a custom sensor board for soil and environmental sensing which uses an ESP32 microcontroller unit. The inference metrics (i.e. inference time and accuracy) are measured for different ML model architectures on edge devices as well as other performance metrics (i.e. mean square error and coefficient of determination [R2]), while emphasising the need for balancing accuracy and processing complexity. In summary, the results show the practical feasibility of using drones to deliver TL for DNN and LSTM models to ultra‐low performance edge IoT devices for soil humidity prediction. But in general, this work also lays the foundation for further research into other applications of TinyML usage in many different aspects of smart farming.

Abstract Background The house fly, Musca domestica, is a significant carrier of diseases that can impact public health. Repeated use of pyrethroid insecticides may act as a selection pressure for mutations and amino acid substitutions in the house fly voltage-sensitive sodium channel (VSSC), which ultimately confers resistance. The objectives of this study were to determine the presence of knockdown resistance (kdr) mutations using molecular tools and to set up a CDC bottle bioassay specific for house flies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to screen for deltamethrin resistance. Methods Adult flies were collected from 19 locations in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and DNA was extracted, followed by PCR amplification of specific alleles (PASA) and conventional PCR using several primers to amplify regions of the VSSC gene. Sanger sequencing was performed on PCR products. We also designed primers that detect four kdr mutations using complementary DNA (cDNA) in reverse transcriptase (RT)-PCR followed by Sanger sequencing. Additionally, a CDC bottle bioassay was set up for detecting deltamethrin resistance in adult house flies. Results In PASA, the primers successfully amplified the target bands (480, 280 and 200 bp). The kdr allele was found in flies collected from 18 of the 19 locations, at the highest and lowest prevalence of 46.9% and 9.4%, respectively. Resistant homozygous (RR) insects constituted 5.0% of the tested populations, and heterozygous (RS) insects accounted for 36.5%. The RR genotype was prevalent in house flies collected at 10 of 19 sampling locations. House fly populations were mostly in Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium, except in three locations. In addition to verifying the presence of the previously identified kdr mutation L1014F, in this study we detected two kdr mutations, L1014H and T929I, that have not previously been reported in the UAE. Also, for the first time in the UAE, a CDC bottle bioassay for deltamethrin resistance was used, which found that 60 min and 4.5 µg/ml were the diagnostic time and dose, respectively. Using this assay, we detected deltamethrin resistance in house flies from two of 16 locations, with a resistance level of 12.5%. Conclusions Using DNA sequencing, we confirmed the presence of a known kdr mutation and uncovered two new kdr mutations in house flies from Abu Dhabi. Additionally, we detected deltamethrin resistance in these flies using a CDC bottle bioassay. Further research is recommended to comprehensively identify more kdr mutations in UAE house fly populations and assess their impacts on control strategies. Graphical Abstract

Efficient path planning optimization strategies are required to maximize flying time while consuming the least energy. This research offers a novel approach for energy-efficient path planning for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) that combines a hybrid evolutionary algorithm and Q-learning while accounting for the UAV’s velocity and distance from obstacles. To overcome the constraints of traditional optimization approaches, the hybrid methodology combines genetic algorithms and Q-learning. The suggested approach optimizes path-planning decisions based on real-time information by considering the UAV’s velocity and distance from obstacles. Genetic Algorithm (GA) creates a wide collection of candidate pathways. In contrast, Q-learning uses reinforcement learning to make educated selections based on the UAV’s present velocity and proximity to static obstacles. This integration allows the UAV to modify its path dynamically based on its energy requirements and environmental constraints. The main goal is to develop a UAV path planning scheme capable of dealing with obstacle-filled environments to improve energy efficiency and collision avoidance during flight missions. Our experimental results show that the hybrid technique outperforms the classical GA method in terms of energy efficiency by significantly reducing energy consumption while maintaining a suitable collision rate and the best path cost to the desired locations. The analysis results improve the performance of the hybrid GA/QL algorithm by more than 57.14% compared to classical GA.

Abstract This study proposes a highly sensitive portable device that utilizes electromagnetic waves and data analytics for instantaneous Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome CoronaVirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) detection. The device consists of a Radio Frequency (RF) circuit that interprets reflected and transmitted electromagnetic waves to identify virus signatures in physiologically significant matrices, including human saliva and diluted nasopharyngeal swabs. The sensor's accuracy is validated in both pre‐clinical and clinical settings, where clinical measurements demonstrate an instantaneous detection accuracy of 94%, sensitivity of 95%, and specificity of 97.5% between the sensor's physical parameters and SARS‐CoV‐2 detection. The sensor's accurate real‐time response is due to its unique design and precise modeling techniques. In addition, the same sensing system is tested across different viruses and its ability to differentiate between influenza A, respiratory syncytial, and SARS‐CoV‐2 viruses is proven. Hence this work presents a holistic system that can predict the viral concentration of SARS‐CoV‐2, as well as differentiate between different viruses instantaneously and without adding any amplifying agent.

Vaccines against the virulent Newcastle disease virus (NDV) are broadly existing and can provide protection; nevertheless, better immunization practices are required to avoid clinical disease and limit virus circulation. This study evaluating the immunogenicity and protective efficiency of locally prepared clone 30 live-attenuated vaccine against the challenge impact of virulent NDV genotype IV and genotype VIId prevalent in Egypt in comparison with the commercially prepared live Lasota vaccine as a positive control group. The efficacy of the vaccine was evaluated based on the antibody titer, protection rate, oropharyngeal, and cloacal shedding. Therefore, 150 one day old specific pathogen free chicks (SPF) were divided in to three groups 50 bird per group (G).G1and G2 received 100 µl containing 6 log 10 EID50 via the oculo-nasal route of clone 30 vaccine and lasota vaccine in order, while G3 (un vaccinated) received sterile saline at the same route and dose. On day 21 post vaccination (pv) 40 bird from each group were challenged with a dose of 6.5 log10/ml EID50 intramuscular per bird for both genotype IV and genotype VIId (20 bird /genotype virus),the other 10 birds left from each group were kept separate for antibody level monitoring for the 6th week pv. Results revealed that, during vaccine preparation, the clone 30 virus showed a high virus titer when propagated in SPF embryonating chicken eggs (SPF-ECEs), which reached 1012/EID50/ml. The protection rate due to the clone 30 vaccine and the lasota vaccine was alike and showed 75% and 70% against challenge with genotype IV and genotype VIId, respectively, there were no significant differences (p > 0.05) between the antibody titer produced by the clone 30 vaccinated group and lasota group. Both the clone 30 and lasota vaccines showed nearly similar levels of oropharyngeal and cloacal shedding. The results clarify that, although there were no detected differences between the immune response and the protective efficacy of clone 30 vaccine and lasota vaccine but, the use of clone 30 vaccine is still advantageous for its superior immunogenicity and low post-vaccinal reaction, which will make the clone 30 vaccine suggestive for primary immunization, especially in immunologically naive birds. In conclusion, the prepared Clone 30 vaccine in the current study is safe for chicks and can be used as an effective vaccine against the circulating NDV.

Background Mothers’ care seeking behavior for childhood illness is a key factor of utilizing healthcare for children. We examined predictors of mothers’ care seeking for common childhood illnesses. Methods This was a cross-sectional study, using data from the Afghanistan Health Survey (AHS) 2015. Data were used from women who sought healthcare for their unwell children. The women were asked whether their children were sick with fever, cough, faster breathing, or diarrhea in the past 2 weeks. The outcome variable was defined as whether the mother sought healthcare for her unwell child from a public clinic, a private clinic, or from a pharmacy store. The Andersen’s healthcare seeking behavior model was used and multinomial regression analysis applied. Results There were 4979 women, aged 15-49 years, whose under-5 children were sick in the past 2 weeks. Thirty-nine percent of women sought healthcare for their children from a health provider. Mother’s age, child’s age, child’s sex, socioeconomic status, mothers’ perceived severity of childhood illness, and number of under-5 children were predictors of mothers’ care seeking behavior. The likelihood of healthcare seeking was lower for older children (Adjusted odds ratio [OR] [95% CI]: 0.51 [0.37-0.70] from public clinics; 0.33 [0.23-0.47] from private clinics; 0.36 [0.22-0.61] from pharmacy stores), and for girls (Adjusted OR [95% CI]: 0.74 [0.59-0.93] from private clinics). The likelihood of healthcare seeking was greater for children whose mothers knew symptoms of childhood illness (Adjusted OR [95% CI]: 2.97 [1.44-6.16] from public clinics; 7.20 [3.04-17.04] from pharmacy stores). The likelihood of healthcare seeking for children was greater in older mothers (Adjusted OR [95% CI]: 1.54 [1.11-2.12]). It was less likely for the mothers who have more children to seek healthcare for their children (Adjusted OR [95% CI]: 0.53 [0.43-0.65] from public clinics; 0.61 [0.48- 0.79] from private clinics; 0.51 [0.37-0.69] from pharmacy stores). Conclusion Health policy-makers may opt to use our findings, particularly mothers’ knowledge (perceived severity) of symptoms of childhood illness to develop interventions to enhance timely assessment and effective treatment of common preventable childhood illnesses.

People face difficulties in obtaining various care services, which leads to a severe delay in health care treatment, especially in light of the events that accompanied the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic, and therefore obtaining them may cause serious illness or even death. This paper is about MEDICAL+ and MEDICAL PLUS+ applications that were developed to enables the patients to gain healthcare treatment in the easiest, cheapest and timeless way. The applications were developed using web developing languages and tools to enables the user to book appointments, performing online chatting sessions with the healthcare providers and receiving the medical prescriptions directly after the online session in the same application.

Abstract Changing morbidity and mortality due to COVID-19 across the pandemic has been linked with factors such as the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants and vaccination. Mutations in the Spike glycoprotein enhanced viral transmission and virulence. We investigated whether SARS-CoV-2 mutation rates and entropy were associated COVID-19 in Pakistan, before and after the introduction of vaccinations. We analyzed 1,705 SARS-CoV-2 genomes using the Augur phylogenetic pipeline. Substitution rates and entropy across the genome, and in the Spike glycoprotein were compared between 2020, 2021 and 2022 (as periods A, B and C). Mortality was greatest in B whilst cases were highest during C. In period A, G clades were predominant, and substitution rate was 5.25 × 10–4 per site per year. In B, Delta variants dominated, and substitution rates increased to 9.74 × 10–4. In C, Omicron variants led to substitution rates of 5.02 × 10–4. Genome-wide entropy was the highest during B particularly, at Spike E484K and K417N. During C, genome-wide mutations increased whilst entropy was reduced. Enhanced SARS-CoV-2 genome substitution rates were associated with a period when more virulent SARS-CoV-2 variants were prevalent. Reduced substitution rates and stabilization of genome entropy was subsequently evident when vaccinations were introduced. Whole genome entropy analysis can help predict virus evolution to guide public health interventions.

Abstract Vickers and Knoop testers are the most common tools used to measure the hardness of materials. However, a very small tilt in the sample surface even in the order of a fraction of a degree produces a noticeable asymmetry, which affects the accuracy of the measured hardness. In this investigation, a mathematical approach has been used to correct asymmetry in the Vickers and Knoop indentations in both metallic and ceramic materials. Measurements were taken for metals such as aluminium 6061(Al-6061), 304 stainless steel as well as various zirconia toughened ceramic materials including tetragonal zirconia doped with: 2.5 mol% Y2O3 (TZ2.5Y), 3 mol% Y2O3 (TZ3Y) and the composite containing 20 wt% alumina (TZ3Y20A), all prepared from commercial powders. A hardness tester equipped with Vickers and Knoop indenters was used for hardness and elastic modulus determination. Optical and scanning electron microscopes have been used to get the indentation micrographs. The method enabled accurate determination of both hardness and elastic modulus from corrected Vickers and Knoop indentations. The hardness and elastic modulus values obtained in this study are in good agreement with reported data for similar materials. The results obtained in this study have been successfully validated using the Zwick reference block. The developed method is readily applicable for the most widely used Vickers hardness machines for the correction of asymmetric indentations if existing, consequently leading to accurate determination of the hardness.

Abstract Background Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), as a recent inflammatory index, has been reported to be a prognostic tool in different diseases. However, implication of this ratio in heart failure (HF) is less investigated. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we aimed to assess the potential impact of NLR on HF clinical outcomes. Methods Relevant English published records in PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science were screened up to July 2023. Articles reporting clinical outcomes (follow-up or in-hospital mortality, readmission, HF prediction, extended hospital stay length, pulmonary vascular resistance, atrial fibrillation, renal disease and functional capacity) in HF sufferers were collected for further analysis with addition of NLR difference stratified by death/survived and HF status. Results Thirty-six articles (n = 18231) were finally selected which reported NLR in HF sufferers (mean: 4.38, 95% confidence interval (CI): 4.02–4.73). We found 25 articles reported NLR and total mortality (either follow-up death (N = 19): 4.52 (95% CI: 4.03–5.01) or in-hospital death (N = 10): 5.33 (95% CI: 4.08–6.57)) with mean NLR of 4.74 (95% CI: 4.28–5.20). Abstract In this study, a Co-MOF was synthesized via a co-precipitation procedure and then used as support for stabilizing Ag ions and producing Co-MOF@Ag2O nanocomposite by microwave irradiation. The characterization of synthesized Co-MOF@Ag2O nanocomposite was performed by using different techniques such as field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analyses, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) and Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR). The prepared Co-MOF@Ag2O nanocomposite was applied as a heterogeneous nano-catalyst in the synthesis of pyrazolopyranopyrimidines in water at 50 °C via the one-pot multicomponent reaction of ethyl acetoacetate, hydrazine hydrate, aromatic aldehydes and barbituric acid derivatives. Through this straightforward and effective protocol, different tricyclic fused pyrazolopyranopyrimidines were synthesized at high yields, and short reaction times, through an uncomplicated work-up process with no by-product. The Co-MOF@Ag2O nanocomposite has been effectively recycled for four consecutive cycles without appreciable loss in its activity. Cost-effectiveness, no need for column chromatography, mild conditions, catalyst recyclability, and eco-friendly nature make it a promising candidate compared to other methods.

Background and objectives: Automated drug dispensing systems (ADDs) have been introduced to improve the efficiency of dispensing and patient safety. The available questionnaires measure patient satisfaction with particular aspects of ADDs. Also, the level of patient satisfaction with ADDs is not widely established. This study aimed to develop and validate a novel questionnaire to assess patient satisfaction with ADDs. Methods: Content and construct validity procedures were used to validate the 20-item questionnaire with four domains, including pharmacy administration, dispensing practice, patient education, and the dispensing system. Two hundred consenting participants took part in this study, from those who visited the outpatient pharmacy in a government hospital. Results: The internal consistency of all four scale items shows acceptable reliability (>0.7). In the exploratory factor analysis, three items were removed due to poor factor loading and cross-loading. In the confirmatory factor analysis, the model has acceptable fit indices, including the comparative fit index (0.937), Tucker–Lewis’s index (0.924), standardized root mean square residual (0.051), root mean square error of approximation (0.057), and χ2/df (1.67). The convergent and discriminant validity were established, since the average variance extracted (AVE) was ≥0.5 and the squared correlation (SC) values of one construct with other constructs were less than the AVE of the specific construct. Conclusion: This study offered a reliable and valid 17-item questionnaire incorporating a multi-dimensional four-factor model to evaluate patient satisfaction with ADDs. The validated questionnaire can be utilized to explore patients’ perspectives on ADDs.

Medication adherence is an essential aspect of healthcare for patients and is important for achieving medical objectives. However, the lack of standard techniques for measuring adherence is a global concern, making it challenging to accurately monitor and measure patient medication regimens. The use of sensor technology for medication adherence monitoring has received much attention lately since it makes it possible to continuously observe patients’ medication adherence behavior. Sensor devices or smart wearables utilize state-of-the-art machine learning (ML) methods to analyze intricate data patterns and provide predictions accurately. The key aim of this work is to develop a sensor-based hand gesture recognition model to predict medication activities. In this research, a smart sensor device-based hand gesture prediction model is developed to recognize medication intake activities. The device includes a tri-axial gyroscope, geometric, and accelerometer sensors to sense and gather data from hand gestures. A smartphone application gathers hand gesture data from the sensor device, which is then stored in the cloud database in a .csv format. These data are collected, processed, and classified to recognize the medication intake activity using the proposed novel neural network model called Sea Horse Optimization–Deep Neural Network (SHO-DNN). The SHO technique is implemented to update the biases and weights and the number of hidden layers in the DNN model. By updating these parameters, the DNN model is improved in classifying the samples of hand gestures to identify the medication activities. The research model demonstrates impressive performance, with an accuracy of 98.59%, sensitivity of 97.82%, precision of 98.69%, and an F1 score of 98.48%. Hence, the proposed model outperformed the most available models in all the aforementioned aspects. The results indicate that this model is a promising approach for medication adherence monitoring in healthcare applications, instilling confidence in its effectiveness.

Axitinib, marketed as Inlyta, finds various medical applications in the treatment of conditions such as breast cancer, myeloid leukemia, and juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia. Initially, the synthesis of this cytidine analog, and its deoxy derivative decitabine, was carried out in Czechoslovakia to explore their potential as chemotherapeutic agents for cancer treatment. Recent research has been focused on understanding the reactivity and chemical structure of Axitinib, which are believed to contribute to its anticancer properties. As part of this investigation, the adsorption process of Axitinib onto a fullerene (C60) adsorbent in the gas and water phases was examined using the DFT/B3LYP/6-311+G(d, p) method. This analysis involved the assessment of the adsorption energy and a chemical perspective on the interaction between Axitinib and the adsorbent molecule. Furthermore, various thermodynamic characteristics, including Gibbs free energy (-4004.73 kJ), Enthalpy (-4004.52 kJ), and Entropy (709.79 J/mol-kelvin), as well as thermodynamic capacity (349.69 J/mol-kelvin), were calculated. Additionally, key electronic parameters, such as σ(0.20), µ(-2.97), ω(0.88), χ(2.97), and η(5.01) (all in eV), were estimated to elucidate the compound's chemical properties. The calculation of the HOMO (-7.99 eV) and LUMO (2.04 eV) energy levels revealed six regions of chemical activity for Axitinib, confirming its thermodynamic stability and indicating the significance of this adsorption process in delivering Axitinib to biological mechanisms.

Background: Inflammation has been suggested to play a role in heart failure (HF) pathogenesis. However, the role of platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), as a novel biomarker, to assess HF prognosis needs to be investigated. We sought to evaluate the impact of PLR on HF clinical outcomes. Methods: English-published records in PubMed/Medline, Scopus, and Web-of-science databases were screened until December 2023. Relevant articles evaluated PLR with clinical outcomes (including mortality, rehospitalization, HF worsening, and HF detection) were recruited, with PLR difference analysis based on death/survival status in total and HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) patients. Results: In total, 21 articles ( n = 13,924) were selected. The total mean age was 70.36 ± 12.88 years (males: 61.72%). Mean PLR was 165.54 [95% confidence interval (CI): 154.69–176.38]. In total, 18 articles ( n = 10,084) reported mortality [either follow-up (PLR: 162.55, 95% CI: 149.35–175.75) or in-hospital (PLR: 192.83, 95% CI: 150.06–235.61) death rate] and the mean PLR was 166.68 (95% CI: 154.87–178.50). In the present research, ZnO@TiO2 nanoparticles (ZnO@TiO2 NPs) was synthesized by using a simple method and the results of infrared (IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) confirmed their synthesis. Then, an electrochemical sensor based on screen printed graphite electrode (SPGE) modified with ZnO@TiO2 NPs was developed for voltammetric detection of hydrazine in water samples. The ZnO@TiO2 NPs modified SPGE demonstrates significant performance toward the hydrazine detection due to the synergistic effect between ZnO NPs and TiO2 NPs and it proved by the results from cyclic voltammetry (CV). Also, the observation of an oxidation peak without a reduction peak in the opposite scan direction indicated the irreversibility of the electrochemical oxidation of hydrazine on both the bare SPGE and the ZnO@TiO2/SPGE. Under optimized conditions (pH and differential pulse parameters), the voltammetric current response of hydrazine at the ZnO@TiO2/SPGE showed linear dependence on the concentration, ranging from 0.01 µM to 585.0 µM with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.005 µM. In addition, the pertinency of the ZnO@TiO2/SPGE sensor for practical applications was investigated by quantification detection of hydrazine in water samples. The findings showed recovery values between 97.3 % and 104.2 % and relative standard deviations (RSDs) ≤ 3.5 % for river and tap water samples.

MethodologyConsidering that research in most humanities disciplines is mainly focused on theoretical solutions, the present study has used a library research method to collect the desired data and examines the data with a descriptive-analytical method. ConclusionHegel's philosophy, methodology, and valuable critiques present an outlook that thinks about modernity, instead of being oriented towards the Enlightenment era of his time. Because, basically, from Hegel's point of view, modernity is a bridge in the evolution of the soul towards freedom, and in this way, the self-awareness of the soul is the most important characteristic of the new era. In summary, for the purposes of this research and its main question, what is certain is that Hegel rejects the political theory of social contract that philosophers such as Locke and Rousseau established and views them as inefficient abstract concepts and, by rejecting the abstract idealism of "Reason" and the empiricism of "History" as an independent and durable ground for authority, established a dialectical relationship between reason and history and thereby resolved some of the contradictions raised in the state's founding phase. He also, based the political right on having an independent nature from the state and supports the concept of political right where it maintains its idealistic aspect, but is based on a certain historical era. On the other hand, even though Hegel criticizes the extreme collectivism of Rousseau and the abstract individualism of Lockean liberalism, his divine and intrinsically purposive government tries to incorporate all the desirable features of these schools and support them. Hegel's goal was to achieve the desired political power system for Germany, and so in this way, he presented his government specially and distinctly from the democratic and liberal state-building philosophies of his time.But what are the characteristics of Hegel's ideal government? The key to understanding this question lies in the ideal concept of political right in Hegel's belief and his opinion about the inherent rationality of the state. From Hegel's point of view, the state is the manifestation of realized freedom and the perfect ethical life. Therefore, the state is an ethical soul that emerges in the form of an essential will by becoming more transparent and definite. Therefore, the state is nothing but "the action of the spirit in the world" realized in a self-conscious form. But since the soul in Hegel's philosophy has an absolute, and even divine essence, according to Hegel's definition, the state is God's will in the world. Such a government is not a responsible or parliamentary government, and this was at a time when the belief in a responsible government was considered the most important feature of 19th-century liberalism. Overall, by studying the philosophy of rights that Hegel talks about, it cannot be said that he does not explicitly accept responsible government, nor can it be said that he explicitly rejected such a government.

Abstract In this study, a new and efficient Rod-like bifunctional Fe-based MOF@CuO nanocomposites (RL BF Fe-based MOF@CuO NC) were synthesized as new and efficient heterogeneous catalyst through a simple method from easily available 1,3,5-benzenetricarbocylic acid linker, nitrate ferric as a source of iron and copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles under microwave irradiation. The synthesized nanocatalysts were characterized with different techniques such as Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), mapping, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The RL BF Fe-based MOF@CuO NC had relatively high specific surface area (203 m2 g−1) while exhibiting superparamagnetic properties. The catalytic activity of RL BF Fe-based MOF@CuO NC was explored in a facile and green methodology to prepare diverse N‑amino-2-pyridones by one-pot four component reactions comprising aromatic aldehyde, malononitrile, methyl cyanoacetate and hydrazine hydrate within mild and solvent-free conditions. This protocol enjoys features like providing the final products during low reaction times in excellent yields under solvent-free conditions. The use of easily available and inexpensive reactants for the synthesis of the catalyst, environmental compatibility, low catalyst loading, fast and clean work-up and reusability of catalyst for several cycles with consistent activity are counted as the outstanding features of this procedure.

Abstract Background Most aquatic biota's reproductive biology and life cycle are essential to the sustainable management and development of coastal ecosystems and aquaculture. The bivalve Paphia textile (Gmelin 1791), also known as Paratapes textilis, has an economic value in Indo-Pacific waters, including the Red Sea and the Suez Canal lakes, the Egyptian coasts. However, P. textile suffers from extensive fishing and exploitation. Aim The present work aims to study the Paphia textile's reproductive cycle on the Egyptian coasts of the Red Sea for the first time. It helps to manage and develop the coastal ecosystems and aquaculture. Methodology Samples were collected monthly from two saline lakes in the Suez Gulf from December 2019 to November 2020. As part of the comprehensive research study, sex ratio, condition index, sexuality, histological analysis of gonads, shell size, and gonad index were used to investigate the reproductive cycle. Results The results reveal a male-biased sex ratio, possibly due to anthropogenic stressors. The Paphia textile is dioecious. No hermaphrodite cases were observed in the studied specimens. The condition index in winter and spring indicates periods dominated by mature individuals. Five reproductive maturity stages were assigned for both P. textile males and females. Due to the simultaneous development of several developmental stages monthly throughout the sampling year, warm water may be responsible for non-sequential gametogenic cycles. As measured environmental parameters correlate with maturity stages, temperature, salinity, and chlorophyll a play important role in gonad growth. The size at first sexual maturity at which 50% of the Paphia textile population reached maturity ranged from 28.60 to 31.50 mm for females, and between 31.70 and 34.10 mm for males. As the gonad index increases during the ripe stages, this index decreases during the resting, spawning, and spent phases. Conclusions The findings suggest the most suitable temperature for aquaculture spawning is between 20 °C and 30 °C in subtropical waters. Fishing should generally be prohibited at sizes less than 28.60 mm for better management and sustainability of this valuable aquatic resource on the Egyptian coasts of the Red Sea.

Abstract Background The COVID-19 pandemic is perhaps one of the most important events of the 21st century. Periodontitis is one of the most prevalent diseases of the oral cavity. Due to possible pathways of interaction between these two diseases, we investigated their association. Methods The study population consisted of hospitalized patients with established COVID-19 diagnoses. Patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 were considered controls, while cases had severe to critical COVID-19. Periodontal examination and serum and saliva sampling were performed for each patient. Introduction Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) have become one of the most common forms of nicotine delivery used by youth and young adults worldwide. Given the lack of epidemiologic data in Kuwait, this study sought to estimate the prevalence of e-cigarette use, assess perceptions of harm and addictiveness of e-cigarettes, measure the level of dependence on e-cigarettes and assess factors associated with dependence level among adults. Methods A cross-sectional study enrolled adults (n=3032, aged ≥18 years) living in Kuwait using a web-based questionnaire. Participants self-reported ever and current (past 30-day) e-cigarette use and self-completed the 10-item Penn State E-cigarette Dependence Index. Associations were evaluated using multinomial logistic regression. Results The prevalence of ever and current e-cigarette use was estimated to be 40.2% (1220/3032) and 29.4% (892/3032), respectively. Abstract Background The presence of comorbidities, especially those with a chronic inflammatory nature such as periodontitis, can facilitate COVID-19 progression toward more severe forms. Both of these diseases can affect systemic health and alter hematological test results. In this study, we decided to investigate COVID-19 and periodontitis’ possible interaction with these alterations. Methods Hospitalized patients with a definitive diagnosis of COVID-19 were included. Controls had mild to moderate COVID-19, while cases had severe to critical COVID-19. Periodontal examination was done for each patient. Relevant medical and hematological data were extracted from patient’s hospital files. Results A total of 122 patients entered the final analysis. The minimum white blood cell counts were associated with the severity of periodontitis. The interaction between periodontitis and COVID-19 was associated with increased minimum white blood cell counts and decreased platelet counts. COVID-19 severity was associated with increased venous oxygen saturation, prothrombin time, the maximum partial thromboplastin time, the maximum and average urea, the maximum creatinine, the maximum potassium, and lactate dehydrogenase, and decreased sodium levels. Conclusions Results of this study showed that several blood parameters were associated with periodontitis, COVID-19, or the interaction between them.

Objective:Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is the standard of care for axillary staging in clinically node negative breast cancer. If predictive factors for sentinel lymph node (SLN) metastasis could be identified, it would allow selection of candidates for SLNB and omit axillary surgery in those with the lowest risk of axillary lymph node involvement. The aim of this study was to determine risk factors associated with SLN metastasis in breast cancer patients in Bahrain.Materials and Methods:Patients with clinically node-negative breast cancer who underwent SLNB at a single institution between 2016 and 2022 were identified from the pathology database. Patients who had failure of localization of SLN, those with bilateral cancers and those treated for a local recurrence were excluded.Results:A total of 160 breast cancer patients were retrospectively analyzed. Of these, 64.4% had a negative SLNB and 21.9% of all cases underwent axillary dissection. The following parameters emerged as predictors of SLN metastasis in univariate analysis: age; tumour grade; ER status; presence of lymphovascular invasion (LVI) and tumor size. On multivariate analysis, age was not independently associated with the incidence of SLN metastasis.Conclusion:This study showed that high tumour grades, presence of LVI and large tumour size were all risk factors related to axillary metastasis after SLNB in breast cancer. In the elderly, the incidence of SLN metastasis appeared to be relatively low, providing an opportunity to de-escalate axillary surgery in these patients. These findings may allow for the development of a nomogram to estimate the risk of SLN metastasis.

The new approach to bisexual education defines a new form of gender role that requires female and male characteristics for both sexes equally. One of the most important principles that is emphasized in this approach is “equality”. The basis of Islamic ethics in dealing with male and female gender is paying attention to the differences and roles according to the female and male genetic characteristics. The type of this study is library research. It evaluates and criticizes the basis of equality in bisexual education through a descriptive and analytical method, with an approach to Islamic ethics based on the Islamic sources, as well as the sources related to the main subject, including psychology, sociology and women’s studies. The findings of this study show that the Islamic ethics considers men and women, due to their commonalities in terms of value, as equal in value, but regards them as having special duties due to their difference, talents and abilities - as a natural right. Paying attention and observing them will lead to the achievement of the happiness for the individual and the society. Islamic ethics does not accept such similarity based on the men’s and women’s genetic equality in creation.

Background and Aims: Nowadays, the use of energizing substances has become a complex complicated problem in sports and causes damage to various tissues., on the other hand However, sports activity has a significant impact on controlling and improving oxidative stress factors and inflammatory indicators. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effect of eight- weeks of resistance training on lipid peroxidation (malondialdehyde [MDA]MDA) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in the heart tissue of rats exposed to stanazol. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 24 male rats with a weight range of 150-200 g and a mean age of 8 weeks were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups (n=6 each), namely 1) control (C), 2) sham (Sh), 3) consumption of stanazol (S), and 4) consumption of stanazol together with resistance training (S+RT). Abstract Background Patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy may develop symptoms of shortness of breathing due to diastolic dysfunction which is not related to the severity of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction. As these patients usually develop a non-ischemic pattern of myocardial fibrosis, this may represent a mechanism for increased myocardial stiffness leading to impaired diastolic filling. The study aimed to determine the prevalence of myocardial fibrosis assessed by magnetic resonance imaging in children with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and to evaluate its relationship with echocardiographic parameters including left ventricle diastolic dysfunction and to find echocardiographic indices which correlates with myocardial fibrosis as detected by cardiac magnetic resonance. A cross-sectional study was done for data of 50 children with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy from July 2018 to July 2021, patients were divided into (group 1) having myocardial fibrosis and (group 2) with no myocardial fibrosis, and results of echocardiographic parameters were compared between the two groups. Results Results showed strong relationship between presence of myocardial fibrosis and each of the following: Interventricular septum thickness, lower lateral and septal early diastolic tissue velocities (E′), E/E′ ratio, presence of left ventricular out flow tract obstruction and the grade of diastolic dysfunction. Conclusions The trans-mitral lateral and septal E/E′ (early mitral inflow to early diastolic mitral annular velocity ratio) allows early detection of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in children with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The prevalence of diastolic dysfunction is higher in obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The diastolic dysfunction severity is higher in patients with myocardial fibrosis.

The tailored physical properties of TiO2 are of significant importance in various fields and, as such, numerous methods for modifying these properties have been introduced. In this study, we present a novel method for doping Fe into TiO2 via the anodic dissolution of iron. The optimal conditions were determined to be an application of 200 V to acetylacetone (acac)/EtOH medium for 10 min, followed by the addition of TiO2 to the solution, sonication for 30 min, stirring at 80 °C, and drying. The resulting powder was calcined at 400 °C for 3 h, and characterization was conducted using XRD, FTIR, TEM, and UV-vis. The synthesized powder revealed the successful doping of Fe into the TiO2 structure, resulting in a decrease in the optical band gap from 3.22 to 2.92 eV. The Fe-TiO2 was then deposited on a metal substrate via the electrophoretic (EPD) technique, and the weight of the deposited layer was measured as a function of the applied voltage and exposure time. FESEM images and EDX analysis confirmed that the deposited layer was nanostructured, with Fe evenly distributed throughout the structure.

It was made out of Sandstone, in poor condition, and currently preserved in the Grand Egyptian Museum GEM1334-SR3/9796. It was discovered in the pillared hall of Hathor temple at Serabit al-Khadim (South Sinai). The statue is a gift from King "Senusret the First" to commemorate the ancestors. It is a royal statue of four kings in a sitting position, kneeling next to each other, with their hands spread out on an offering table, and their heads are missed. The condition of the final statue is a matter of concern due to its poor condition, its name was missed, and there were many opinions about whether it represented King Sneferu or King Mentuhotep III.

Abstract In this investigation, surface modification toughening of partially stabilized zirconia ceramics, by sub-eutectoid solution annealing, has been performed. The Zr0.918Mg0.068Y0.014O1.925 designated (MZY) was prepared by mixing Magnesia Partially Stabilized Zirconia (MZ9) and Yttria Tetragonal Zirconia (TZ3Y) Polycrystal commercial powders using wet ball milling. The mechanical properties and microstructure of the MZY were investigated. XRD and SEM were used for phase analysis and microstructure examination of the sintered samples’ surfaces. The fracture toughness and hardness of the sintered compacts were determined by the Vickers indentation technique. The physical and mechanical properties of MZY were compared to those of MZ9 ceramics prepared under the same conditions. The results showed that, the Yttria addition inhibited the exaggerated growth of the tetragonal precipitates during sintering. The MZY showed a maximum in the fracture toughness of 12.9 MPa√m upon sub-eutectoid solution annealing at 1000 °C for 150 h, while the tetragonal precipitates in the MZ9 lost coherence due to their spontaneous massive transformation to the monoclinic phase via the decomposition reaction.

Abstract Chronic inflammation and dyslipidemia are important risk factors in developing atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, such as coronary heart disease. Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is one of the most dangerous syndromes in coronary heart disease. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is considered equal to coronary heart disease owing to the high cardiac risk induced by chronic inflammation and dyslipidemia. The neutrophil to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHR) is a novel and straightforward marker that reflects inflammation and lipid metabolic disorder. However, few studies have been on the role of NHR in assessing the risk of ACS in T2DM patients. Here we analyzed NHR level in ACS patients with T2DM, exploring its predictive and diagnostic values. 211 hospitalized ACS patients with T2DM were recruited as the case group, and 168 hospitalized T2DM patients as the control group (all patients collected from 6/2020 to 12/2021 in Xiangya Hospital). Biochemical test results and echocardiograms, as well as demographic information such as age, BMI, diabetes mellitus, smoking, drinking, and history of hypertension, were recorded. Frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations were used to describe the data. The shapiro–Wilk test was used to assess the normality of the data. Normally distributed data were compared using the independent sample T-test, and non-normally distributed data were compared using Mann–Whitney U test. Objective(s): This study aimed to investigate the possible effects of fetuin-A on an adenine-induced chronic kidney disease (CKD) model in male rats. Materials and Methods: Rats were divided into three groups: group A included rats fed a normal diet; group B included rats fed a normal diet with 220 mg/kg adenine daily for 21 days; group C included rats fed a normal diet with 220 mg/kg adenine daily for 21 days and intraperitoneally administered with 5 mg\kg fetuin-A every other day for 2 weeks. Serum samples were assayed for serum creatinine, urea, sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, tumor necrosis factor (TNF), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and immunohistochemical staining was performed.Results: Group B showed a significant increase in serum creatinine, urea, phosphorus, potassium, TNF, and IL-6 and a significant decrease in serum sodium, calcium, and eGFR compared with group A. Regarding immunohistochemistry, group B showed increased apoptosis. In group C, fetuin-A reduced the urea, creatinine, and phosphorus levels, and in group C, fetuin-A decreased inflammation and apoptosis by reduction of caspase-3 staining.Conclusion: Fetuin-A improved kidney function in CKD due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic role.

Abstract Aims Myocardial ischaemia/reperfusion injury (MIRI) is a major cause of heart failure after myocardial infarction. Berberine (BBR) presents anti‐inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties in many diseases. Our research looked into the therapeutic effects and mechanism of BBR in MIRI. Methods and results MIRI animal and cell models were established. The mRNA and protein expressions were assessed using reverse transcription and quantitative real‐time polymerase chain reaction and western blot. The haemodynamic parameters (left ventricular ejection fraction and left ventricular ejection fraction) were detected by echocardiography. The myocardial infarct size and myocardium lesion were assessed by triphenyltetrazolium chloride and haematoxylin–eosin staining. The levels of injury factors were determined by ELISA. This retrospective observational study aimed to determine the trend of polyp detection rate (PDR) and ADR in asymptomatic average- and high-risk participants in different age groups who underwent screening colonoscopy over the seven years from April 2012 to March 2019 in a tertiary gastroenterology referral center of Iran. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of aquatic exercises on balance in children with sickle cell anemia. A randomized controlled trial was conducted. Sixty children with mild sickle cell anemia and poor balance from both sexes (35 boys and 25 girls) participated in this study. Their ages ranged from 5-10 years with a mean value of 7.30± 1.66 years in the study group (A) and 7.26 ±1.70 in the control group (B). They were divided into two equal groups: the study group (A) and the control group (B). The study group (A) consisted of 30 children (17 boys and 13 girls), who received medical treatment (prescribed by physician), balance exercises, and aquatic exercises sessions. The control group (B) consisted of 30 children (18 boys and 12 girls) who received medical treatment (prescribed by physician) and balance exercises only. The program continued for eight weeks with two sessions per week with a total of sixteen sessions. Each session lasted forty minutes for aquatic exercises sessions and thirty minutes for the balance exercises sessions. Balance was measured before and after treatment using the Pediatric Balance Scale (PBS). A complete blood analysis was performed before and after treatment. The balance functions showed a statistically significant improvement in the study group (A) (p < 0.05) with an improvement of 28.09% after treatment, while in the control group (B) the improvement was not statistically significant (p > 0.05) with a percentage of 10.93% after treatment. The mean Hb value also improved by 29.2% in the study group (A) with a statistically significant increase (p < 0.05), while in the control group (B) there was no statistically significant improvement (p > 0.05) with a percentage of 8.44% after treatment. The aquatic exercise program has a positive effect on improving balance functions in children with sickle cell anemia.

Objective: To conduct a pilot randomised controlled trial examining the feasibility, acceptability and efficacy of MEmory Training for Recovery-Adolescent (METRA) in improving psychological symptoms among Afghan adolescent boys following a terrorist attack. Method: A pilot randomised controlled trial compared METRA to a Control Group, with a three-month follow-up. The study occurred in Kabul (June-November 2022). Fifty-eight boys aged 14–19 years (Mage = 16.70, SD = 1.26) with heightened posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms were recruited through a local school that had recently experienced a terrorist attack. Participants were randomised 1:1 to receive METRA (n = 28) (10 session group-intervention) or Control (n = 30) (10 group-sessions of study skills). Primary outcomes were self-reported PTSD symptoms at post-intervention. Secondary outcomes included self-reported anxiety, depression, Afghan-cultural distress symptoms and psychiatric difficulties. Results: There were challenges in youth participation related to security and competing education demands. For those who did complete METRA, METRA was deemed feasible and acceptable. Objective Inflammatory biomarkers are novel tools to assess the prognosis of different cardiovascular diseases. We evaluated the impact of the monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR) on clinical outcomes in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). Methods We systematically screened English-language articles in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science to 31 August 2022. Relevant articles reporting the MLR and its association with clinical outcomes (major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), coronary artery disease (CAD) severity, mortality, cardiac rupture, subclinical CAD, acute coronary syndrome (ACS) prediction, thin-cap fibroatheroma, no-reflow phenomenon, MLR-related differences in percutaneous coronary intervention, heart failure hospitalization, and depression) in patients with CHD were collected for further analysis. Results Nineteen articles were selected. The mean MLR was 0.34. A higher MLR was significantly associated with an increased risk of MACE among patients with CHD. The MLR was an independent predictor of MACE in patients with ACS. No significant association was found for CAD severity. A complementary analysis was not performed because of few studies focusing on the other predefined endpoints. Conclusions The MLR is a simple and widely available tool to predict MACE in patients with CHD. This biomarker can be utilized in emergency settings to prioritize high-risk patients and optimize therapeutic interventions.

Future generations of solid-state lighting (SSL) will prioritize the development of innovative luminescent materials with superior characteristics. The phosphors converted into white light-emitting diodes (white LEDs) often have a blue-green cavity. Cyan-emitting phosphor fills the spectral gap and produces “full-visible-spectrum lighting.” Full-visible spectrum lighting is beneficial for several purposes, such as light therapy, plant growth, and promoting an active and healthy lifestyle. The design of cyan garnet-type phosphors, like Ca2LuHf2Al3O12 (CLHAO), has recently been the subject of interest. This review study reports a useful cyan-emitting phosphor based on CLHAO composition with a garnet structure to have a cyan-to-green emitting color with good energy transfer. It could be employed as cyan filler in warm-white LED manufacturing. Due to its stability, ability to dope with various ions suitable for their desired qualities, and ease of synthesis, this garnet-like compound is a great host material for rare-earth ions. The development of CLHAO cyan-emitting phosphors has exceptionally high luminescence, resulting in high CRI and warm-white LEDs, making them a viable desire for LED manufacturing. The development of CLHAO cyan-emitting phosphors with diverse synthesis techniques, along with their properties and applications in white LEDs, are extensively covered in this review paper.

The present research aimed to examine the role of perceived stress and positive affect as mediators in the relationship between religious orientation and mental health among students. This correlational research applied the structural equation modeling, and its population was the students of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz in the academic year 2021-2022. By the multistage sampling, 311 students were selected. The questionnaires of religious orientation (Maltby, 1999), mental health (1972), and perceived stress (1983) were used. According to the findings, there is a relationship between religious orientation and perceived stress, and between perceived stress and mental health. In addition, there is not a relationship between religious orientation and mental health with the mediation of perceived stress. It is confirmed that there is a relationship between religious orientation and positive affect, and between positive affect and mental health. Positive affect explains the relationship between religious orientation and mental health. There is no significant difference between the two mediating variables. In order to increase students' mental health, it is suggested that internal religious orientation be strengthened and some supportive and educational programs be designed for managing students' stress and increasing their positive affect.

Abstract In semi-arid and arid regions, the selection of suitable grass species with high-yield production, tolerance to drought stress, and potential for recovery from drought is of special importance. Despite extensive research in cool-season grasses, inter-species differences in post-drought recovery, persistence, survival, and summer dormancy and their relationship with drought tolerance need more investigation. In the present study, 28 diverse genotypes belonged to seven cool-season grass species, including Festuca arundinacea (tall fescue), Festuca pratensis (meadow fescue), Festuca ovina (sheep fescue), Festuca rubra (red fescue), Lolium perenne (perennial ryegrass), Lolium multiflorum (Italian ryegrass) and Lolium × hybridum were evaluated during 2016–2019 under three irrigation regimes (normal, mild, and intense drought stress). Then in the fourth year (on August 2019), irrigation was withheld at all previous irrigation regimes for two months during summer, and then species were re-irrigated to study the effect of prolonged drought conditions. A wide range of genetic diversity was detected in all the measured traits among and within species in response to different irrigation levels. Recurrent drought stress decreased forage productivity, post-drought recovery, and survival in all grass species. Among the studied species, tall fescue had higher forage production, drought tolerance, survival, recovery rate, and persistence. Sheep fescue had low forage production and recovery after drought. Drought tolerance (based on stress tolerance score, STS) was highly associated with forage yield and post-drought recovery and partially with summer dormancy under both mild and intense drought stress conditions. This indicated that selection based on higher STS would lead to choosing genotypes with better recovery after prolonged drought. Superior species and preferable genotypes for forage use from species Festuca arundinacea and for turf application from species Festuca arundinacea, Lolium perenne and Lolium × hybridum were identified across different water environments for future programs.

Which benefits the manufacturer.The weaving process and the dyeing process are the basic process for producing fabrics that can be used for the purposes for which they are manufactured, and in those two stages, the threads are overlapped according to the proposed weaving structure (design).Just as the efficiency of the weaving process and its quality are related to the efficiency of the preparation, the quality of the produced fabrics also depends on the nature of the fabric composition used, in addition to the stability of the tensile strength of the threads on the loom used, which affects the quality level of the produced fabric. As for dyeing and colors, they reflect the nature and taste of the user, which is the main focus in the design of fabrics.

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has posed an unusual threat to global health. Up to May 26, 2021, according to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO), 167.01 million cases, and 3.47 million deaths were reported. This study aimed to estimate and compare epidemiological indices of COVID-19 in high-incidence countries.Methods: We conducted a descriptive and comparative analysis intending to examine the epidemiological indices of COVID- 19 in high-incidence countries, using the data published by the WHO until May 17, 2021. We calculated the incidence and mortality rate per 1,000,000 inhabitant-day at risk daily, weekly, and overall, using person-day as the denominator.Results: The fatality rate in 14 countries was about 1.94%. The highest fatality rate was acquired in Italy (2.99%), followed by the United Kingdom (2.86%) and Iran (2.79%). The lowest value on the fatality rate was in Turkey and India, at 0.88% and 1.1%. The highest incidence rate was reported in the USA (207 cases per 1,000,000 person-day), followed by France (190), Poland (171), and Argentina (167). The highest mortality rate for the whole period was extracted in Brazil (4.60 death per 1,000,000 population-day), and the lowest rate happened in India (0.42).Conclusion: Until May 17, 2021, COVID-19 has affected about 117.6 million patients and caused 2.3 million deaths in 14 highincidence countries. This study shows that a specific pattern of COVID-19 has been observed in every country.
