This paper proposes a virtual reality based Left Brain System named BrainUp World to improve left brain thinking. The left-brain system was employed with mobile virtual reality technology, hand motion tracking and haptic feedback system. The implementation of these systems is to enhance the experience and sense of embodiment. BrainUp World includes virtual reality-based brain training games to improve a person’s attention level, reasoning skill, auditory cognition, arithmetic skill, sequencing skill and memory. The hand tracking system was utilized with an IR camera to capture the hand orientation and return the gesture data to the VR application. A low-cost and lightweight haptic glove was invented which provides the sense of touch using vibrations while interacting with VR contents. An experimental study was conducted to assess the efficacy of BrainUp World compared to traditional PC-based training approaches. Participants were randomly assigned to either the VR-based or PC-based training group and underwent 6 different games to test a person’s attention level, reasoning skill, auditory cognition, arithmetic skill, sequencing skill, and memory. The results revealed a statistically significant improvement in left brain function in the VR-based training group compared to the PC-based group, with a T-score growth of 4.73. Analysis using ANOVA confirmed the significance of this difference (p-Value = 0.04). Notably, the study also identified age-related differences in thinking fluency, highlighting the importance of personalized cognitive training interventions. In conclusion, BrainUp World demonstrates the potential of VR technology in promoting left brain development, as evidenced by empirical findings from the conducted study. By offering immersive and interactive cognitive training experiences, VR-based systems hold promise for enhancing various aspects of cognitive function associated with left hemisphere dominance. Further research in this area is encouraged to explore the full potential of VR-based interventions for cognitive enhancement.

Covert speech (CS) refers to speaking internally to oneself without producing any sound or movement. CS is involved in multiple cognitive functions and disorders. Reconstructing CS content by brain-computer interface (BCI) is also an emerging technique. However, it is still controversial whether CS is a truncated neural process of overt speech (OS) or involves independent patterns. Here, we performed a word-speaking experiment with simultaneous EEG-fMRI. It involved 32 participants, who generated words both overtly and covertly. By integrating spatial constraints from fMRI into EEG source localization, we precisely estimated the spatiotemporal dynamics of neural activity. During CS, EEG source activity was localized in three regions: the left precentral gyrus, the left supplementary motor area, and the left putamen. Although OS involved more brain regions with stronger activations, CS was characterized by an earlier event-locked activation in the left putamen (peak at 262 ms versus 1170 ms). The left putamen was also identified as the only hub node within the functional connectivity (FC) networks of both OS and CS, while showing weaker FC strength towards speech-related regions in the dominant hemisphere during CS. Path analysis revealed significant multivariate associations, indicating an indirect association between the earlier activation in the left putamen and CS, which was mediated by reduced FC towards speech-related regions. These findings revealed the specific spatiotemporal dynamics of CS, offering insights into CS mechanisms that are potentially relevant for future treatment of self-regulation deficits, speech disorders, and development of BCI speech applications.

An optimally operating microbiome supports protective, metabolic, and immune functions, but disruptions produce metabolites and toxins which can be involved in many conditions. Probiotics have the potential to manage these. However, their use in vulnerable people is linked to possible safety concerns and maintaining their viability is difficult. Interest in postbiotics is therefore increasing. Postbiotics contain inactivated microbial cells or cell components, thus are more stable and exert similar health benefits to probiotics. To review the evidence for the clinical benefits of postbiotics in highly prevalent conditions and consider future potential areas of benefit. There is growing evidence revealing the diverse clinical benefits of postbiotics in many prevalent conditions. Postbiotics could offer a novel therapeutic approach and may be a safer alternative to probiotics. Establishing interaction mechanisms between postbiotics and commensal microorganisms will improve the understanding of potential clinical benefits and may lead to targeted postbiotic therapy.

Although the main focus in Alzheimer's disease (AD) has been an investigation of mechanisms causing Aβ plaque deposition and tau tangle formation, recent studies have shown that phosphorylated TDP-43 pathology is present in up to 50% of sporadic cases. Furthermore, elevated phosphorylated TDP-43 has been associated with more severe AD pathology. Therefore, we hypothesized that TDP-43 may regulate amyloid-beta precursor protein (APP) trafficking and tau phosphorylation/aggregation. In order to examine the role of TDP-43 in AD, we developed a transgenic mouse that overexpresses hippocampal and cortical neuronal TDP-43 in a mouse expressing familial mutations (K595N and M596L) in APP and presenilin 1 (PSEN1ΔE9). In our model, increased TDP-43 was related to increased tau aggregation as evidenced by thioflavin S-positive phosphorylated tau, which may implicate TDP-43 expression in pre-tangle formation. In addition, there was increased endosomal/lysosomal localization of APP and reduced Aβ plaque formation with increased TDP-43. Furthermore, there was decreased calcineurin with elevated TDP-43 expression. Since calcineurin is a phosphatase for TDP-43, the decreased calcineurin expression may be one mechanism leading to an increase in accumulation of diffuse phosphorylated TDP-43 in the hippocampus and cortex. We further show that when TDP-43 is knocked down there is an increase in calcineurin. In our model of selective TDP-43 overexpression in an APP/PSEN1 background, we show that TDP-43 decreases Aβ plaque deposition while increasing abnormal tau aggregation. These observations indicate that TDP-43 may play a role in regulating APP trafficking and tau aggregation. Our data suggest that TDP-43 could be a putative target for therapeutic intervention in AD affecting both Aβ plaque formation and tauopathy.

This study assesses the gamma radiation shielding efficiency of polymer composites doped with varying amounts of alloy, using software to demonstrate the potential application of innovative materials in radiation protection. Specifically, Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) and Poly Ethylene Glycol (PEG) composites doped with NiMnGa at concentrations of 2, 6, 10, and 15% were analyzed across an energy range of 0.0595 to 1.41 MeV using Geant4 and WinXCOM software. The radiation protection ability of the composites and the pure alloy were assessed by calculating key parameters, including the mass attenuation coefficient (μm), linear attenuation coefficient (μ), half value layer (HVL), tenth value layer (TVL), and mean free path (MFP). The analyses indicated strong agreement between the results obtained from Geant4 and WinXCOM, demonstrating the performance of the software in investigating the radiation shielding characteristics of polymer-based materials. It was investigated that increasing the amount of NiMnGa in the composite structure significantly enhanced its radiation shielding capabilities. Notably, composites with 15% NiMnGa exhibited superior performance, comparable to traditional heavy metals, while maintaining the lightweight and flexible nature of polymer-based materials. The strong agreement between Geant4 and WinXCOM results further validates the computational approach. These findings highlight the potential of NiMnGa-doped polymer composites as eco-friendly, cost-effective alternatives to lead-based shields for medical and industrial applications, offering enhanced protection with reduced toxicity and environmental impact.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of smoking on platelet indices among patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), and to highlight comparative dimensions between smokers and non-smokers. Materials and Methods: A patient diagnosed with AMI and scheduled for coronary angiography between November 2023 and March 2024 was included in this study. Participants were divided into two groups based on their smoking status. Platelet indices, including platelet count, mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), and plateletcrit (PCT), were compared. Subsequently, the smoking patients were categorized into five groups based on their smoking duration. Results: In the study, which included 224 patients, MPV values in the NSTEMI group among non-smokers were found to be significantly higher compared to the STEMI group (p=0.013). Recent whole-genome sequencing studies have identified millions of somatic variants present in tumor samples. Most of these variants reside in non-coding regions of the genome potentially affecting transcriptional and post-transcriptional gene regulation. Although a few hallmark examples of driver mutations in non-coding regions have been reported, the functional role of the vast majority of somatic non-coding variants remains to be determined. This is because the few driver variants in each sample must be distinguished from the thousands of passenger variants and because the logic of regulatory element function has not yet been fully elucidated. Thus, variants prioritized based on mutational burden and location within regulatory elements need to be validated experimentally. This is generally achieved by combining assays that measure physical binding, such as chromatin immunoprecipitation, with those that determine regulatory activity, such as luciferase reporter assays. Here, we present an overview of in silico approaches used to prioritize somatic non-coding variants and the experimental methods used for functional validation and characterization.

Background: This study covers Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) survivors who had never disclosed the abuse until their psychiatric interview. There is a clear lack of understanding of which factors contribute to delays in the disclosure of CSA. Thus, we aimed to examine the risk factors and sociodemographic variables that may inhibit CSA disclosures. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the files of patients who presented to a child and adolescent psychiatry clinic with diferent complaints between 2010 and 2020 in a tertiary hospital. All of these sexual assaults were ofcially reported by a child and adolescent psychiatrist to the competent authorities. Results: The mean period of time from abuse to disclosure was 28.4 ± 32.5 months. The time from abuse to disclosure was significantly negatively correlated with mothers’ education years (r=−.430, P < .01) and with the age of onset of sexual abuse (r=−.589, P < .001). Results of multiple linear regression showed that female sex and the earlier age of onset of sexual abuse were significant predictors of increased duration from abuse to disclosure. Conclusion: Our results provide insights into several risks that may afect the time from abuse to disclosure for CSA survivors. Studies with larger samples are needed to understand the factors afecting the time from abuse to disclosure.

Fluorescent proteins (FPs) stand as pivotal tools extensively employed across diverse biological research endeavors in various model systems. However, long-standing concerns surround their use due to the numerous side effects associated with their expression. Recent investigations have brought to light the significance of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) that is associated with the maturation process of green fluorescent protein (GFP) fluorophores. The structural and functional impairments associated with GFP expression are possibly linked to this amount of H2O2. In this study, we assess the impact of the GFP-based HyPer7 biosensor on cellular homeostasis and proteome changes, aiming to identify potential risks related to oxidative stress responses that potentially risks the application of such tools. Cells expressing genome-integrated HyPer7 demonstrated altered mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), which was alleviated by the addition of antioxidants or culturing cells at physiological normoxia (5 kPa O2). Additionally, HyPer7-expressing cells also exhibited significant impairment in mitochondrial oxidative respiration, suggesting broader mitochondrial dysfunction. Through untargeted proteomics analysis, we identified 26 proteins exhibiting differential expression in HyPer7-expressing cells compared to respective control cells. Functional annotation analysis showed that the list of the delineated proteins is associated with cellular responses to stress and the regulation of antioxidant mechanisms. Our findings underscore the significance of caution and validation in ensuring a thorough comprehension of cellular responses when using fluorescent protein-based tools, thereby enhancing the reliability of the results.

Introduction: Child abuse and neglect is a widespread and pressing issue, with serious and long-term adverse effects on children’s physical and psychological health. Pediatricians play a crucial role in detecting and addressing cases; however, studies have shown challenges in reporting cases encountered in clinical practice. This study aims to examine pediatricians’ attitudes towards reporting cases of child abuse and neglect encountered in their clinical practices, as well as the factors influencing these attitudes. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among pediatricians in Istanbul. Data collected included sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge and formal training about child neglect and abuse, attitudes about dealing with it, experience, and reporting behavior. The data was collected through a self-administered online questionnaire. The study provides insights into the current awareness and response of Istanbul’s pediatricians towards child neglect and abuse. The data were analyzed using SPSS 22, employing descriptive and comparative statistics such as frequency, mean, standard deviation, and correlation tests. Ethical approval was obtained from the Istanbul Medipol University Ethics Committee. The study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and online consent was obtained from the participants. Results: The study involved 126 pediatricians. Results showed that pediatricians had generally positive attitudes toward reporting child neglect and abuse. Gender and marital status did not significantly influence attitudes, but pediatricians who were parents scored higher on reporting Responsibility. Additionally, it was shown that those with more professional experience had a higher reporting responsibility score. Structured training on child abuse and neglect has been shown to increase pediatricians’ reporting responsibility scores and exhibit less anxious attitudes. Conclusion: This study highlights pediatricians’ positive attitudes toward reporting child abuse and neglect and identifies influencing factors such as training, professional experience, and collaboration. It emphasizes the importance of addressing challenges like awareness of reporting procedures and concerns about negative consequences. Comprehensive training, clear reporting protocols, and multidisciplinary collaboration are essential for increasing reporting rates and improving the detection of child abuse and neglect. The study contributes to enhancing child protection systems in Turkey by providing insights into pediatricians’ attitudes toward reporting child abuse and neglect.

ÖZ:Sosyal hizmet mesleki uygulamalarının teorik zemininde yer alan pek çok kuram ve yaklaşım bulunmaktadır. Güçlendirme yaklaşımı, müracaatçının güçlü yanlarına odaklanan ve farklı sorun alanlarında kullanılabilen bir yaklaşımdır. Yaşlı ihmal ve istismarı, sosyal hizmetin ilgilendiği sorun alanlarından biridir. Derleme türündeki bu çalışmada yaşlı ihmal ve istismarı, güç ve güçlendirme kavramları, sosyal hizmet ve güçlendirme yaklaşımı konularına değinilmiştir. Daha sonra ihmal ve istismara maruz kalan yaşlı bireylere yönelik güçlendirme yaklaşımı temelinde, güçlendirmenin kişisel, kişilerarası ve kurumsal olmak üzere üç boyutuna yönelik stratejiler ele alınmıştır. Bu stratejiler; öz yeterliliğin geliştirilmesi, grup bilincinin artırılması, kendini suçlamanın azaltılması, kişisel sorumluluğun artırılması şeklinde belirtilmiştir. Güçlendirmenin üç farklı boyutunda her bir strateji için yaşlı bireyin güçlenme öncesi ve sonrasındaki bakış açısı ele alınmıştır. Böylece güçlendirme stratejilerinin mikro, mezzo ve makro boyutlarda nasıl bir fark yaratabileceği ortaya koyulmuştur. Bu çalışmada önceki derlemelerden farklı olarak sosyal hizmetin bilgi temelinde yer alan soyut bir yaklaşım olan güçlendirme yaklaşımının yaşlı ihmal ve istismarı sorununda hangi somut stratejiler ile ele alınabileceği hakkında fikir sunmak amaçlanmıştır. ABSTRACT:There are many theories and approaches on the theoretical basis of social work professional practices. The empowerment approach is an approach that focuses on the client's strengths and can be used in different problem areas. Elderly neglect and abuse is one of the problem areas that social work deals with. In this review study, topics such as elderly neglect and abuse, concepts of power and empowerment, social work and empowerment approach are included. Then, based on the empowerment approach for elderly individuals exposed to neglect and abuse, strategies for three dimensions of empowerment: personal, interpersonal and institutional, are discussed. These strategies are stated as improving self-efficacy, increasing group awareness, reducing self-blame, and increasing personal responsibility. For each strategy in three different dimensions of empowerment, the perspective of the elderly individual before and after empowerment is discussed. Thus, it has been revealed what difference empowerment strategies can make at micro, mezzo and macro dimensions. In this study, unlike previous reviews, it is aimed to present an idea about which concrete strategies the empowerment approach, which is an theoretical approach in the knowledge base of social work, can be addressed in the problem of elderly neglect and abuse.

Abstract Previous evidence suggests elevated levels of oxidatively-induced DNA damage, particularly 8-hydroxy-2’-deoxyguanosine (8-OH-dG), and abnormalities in the repair of 8-OH-dG by the base excision repair (BER) in bipolar disorder (BD). However, the genetic disposition of these abnormalities remains unknown. In this study, we aimed to investigate the levels of oxidatively-induced DNA damage and BER mechanisms in individuals with BD and their siblings, as compared to healthy controls (HCs). 46 individuals with BD, 41 siblings of individuals with BD, and 51 HCs were included in the study. Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was employed to evaluate the levels of 8-OH-dG in urine, which were then normalized based on urine creatinine levels. The real-time-polymerase chain reaction was used to measure the expression levels of 8-oxoguanine DNA glycosylase 1 (OGG1), apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease 1 (APE1), poly ADP-ribose polymerase 1 (PARP1), and DNA polymerase beta (POLβ). The levels of 8-OH-dG were found to be elevated in both individuals with BD and their siblings when compared to the HCs. The OGG1 and APE1 expressions were downregulated, while POLβ expressions were upregulated in both the patient and sibling groups compared to the HCs. Age, smoking status, and the number of depressive episodes had an impact on APE1 expression levels in the patient group while body mass index, smoking status, and past psychiatric history had an impact on 8-OH-dG levels in siblings. Both individuals with BD and unaffected siblings presented similar abnormalities regarding oxidatively-induced DNA damage and BER, suggesting a link between abnormalities in DNA damage/BER mechanisms and familial susceptibility to BD. Our findings suggest that targeting the oxidatively-induced DNA damage and BER pathway could offer promising therapeutic strategies for reducing the risk of age-related diseases and comorbidities in individuals with a genetic predisposition to BD.

This research delves into the geochemical aspects, non-isothermal thermogravimetric analysis, and model-free kinetics of oil shale samples from the Ãeltek region in Amasya, Türkiye. Shifting the focus to the core of the research, thermal and mass spectrometric analysis (TGâDTGâMS) experiments were conducted in an air atmosphere, employing three distinct heating rates of 10, 20, and 30 °C/min. The outcomes revealed two successive reaction stages: the breakdown of organic matter and mineral decomposition. In the breakdown stage, activation energy values exhibited a range of 160â163 kJ/mol, while in the mineral decomposition stage, the values varied between 208â214 kJ/mol, using model-free kinetic models.

This study examines the day-of-the-week (DoW) and month-of-the-year (MoY) effects in the cryptocurrency market, with a focus on Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). Due to the absence of a specific closing time in the cryptocurrency market, the closing time of the daily data is taken as 23:59 UTC. Initially, an appropriate volatility model for the cryptocurrency market is established using the GARCH, EGARCH, and TGARCH models. The most appropriate model for BTC is ARMA(1,0)-EGARCH(1,1) and ARMA(1,0)-GARCH(1,1) for ETH. The results of the analysis indicate a leverage effect in the cryptocurrency market, where negative shocks cause a more significant increase in volatility than positive shocks. Based on this volatility structure, the DoW and MoY are analyzed. For BTC, returns on other days are lower compared to Mondays. However, for ETH, returns on Thursdays are lower than those on Mondays. In terms of volatility, both BTC and ETH show that the highest volatility occurs on Mondays. For the MoY effect, neither BTC nor ETH don’t exhibit a significant effect in the mean equation. Nevertheless, the variance equation indicates that January has higher volatility compared to other months, indicating the presence of a MoY effect in terms of volatility.

In this study, crumb rubber (CR), styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) and warm mix additive (Sasobit) modified bitumen binders were statistically investigated. The data set consisting of 32 binders modified by pure, CR, SBS, Sasobit and CR+SBS+Sasobit was studied. While additive ratios were defined as independent variables, results obtained from softening point, viscosity, dynamic shear rheometer and bending beam rheometer experiments were defined as dependent variables. Experiment results were analyzed individually and collectively using response surface methodology and pearson correlation methods. When the experiments were evaluated individually, very important relationships were found between additives rates and all experimental results. Actual values and estimated values obtained as a result of statistical analysis overlapped. It was determined that there were strong relationships between all experimental results when the pearson correlation between the experimental results was examined. Optimization was made according to the test results where the viscosity of 3000 cP (suitable workability), softening point and dynamic shear rheometer test results were maximum (superior high temperature performance) and the test result of bending beam rheometer was minimum (superior low temperature performance). According to this, CR, SBS and Sasobit rates were determined as 5.6%, 4% and 1%, respectively.

Oğuzeli and it’s region is one of the historical Turkish settlement areas. The region became homeland for Turkish tribes since the Turks settled in Anatolia. Since the XI. century, not only the Oghuz tribes came to this region. Other Turkish tribes such as Avşar, Barak, Bayat, Bayındır, Beydili, Büğdüz, Cerit, Döğer, Çepni, Karkın, Karakeçili, Kınık, Kızık, Yazır also came to the region. These settlements are witnessed through historical sources. The Turkish tribes who settled in the region played an important role in the Turkification of Anatolia and in the formation of the Turkish written language based on Oghuz Turkish. Undoubtedly the general rule in the classification of dialect features are criteria based on linguistic material consisting of phonological criteria, morphological criteria, vocabulary criteria, syntax criteria, and rhythmical criteria. But, criteria based on language material alone can not always lead us to the right direction. Classifying the region by taking into account the settlement date, place names and also tribes will give more accurate results even language features are determining criteria. In this context, history, geography, toponymy and ethnotoponym studies are included in dialect research in to a considerable extent. In this study, the dialect characteristics of Oğuzeli and it’s region were determined. Diachronic and synchronic criteria were taken into account in determining the dialect features. In addition, the history and geography of the region were also taken into consideration. As a result of this evaluation, it was concluded the Oğuzeli region dialects belongs to the seventh subgroup within the Western group dialects having the characteristic dialect of bridge.

The association between poverty and maltreatment is well established, and numerous studies show the detrimental effects of economic and material hardship on maltreatment, child welfare involvement, and family well-being. In turn, an increasing body of literature suggests the value of programs and services that provide economic and concrete support in stabilizing and supporting families and, ultimately, reducing occurrences of maltreatment. In this article, we examine the effectiveness of economic and concrete support in reducing primary outcomes of child maltreatment and child welfare involvement and in improving secondary outcomes of child and adult well-being through a systematic review of the literature. We review studies published between 1990 and 2023 through searches of scholarly databases, child welfare websites, and evidence-based clearinghouses. We used a two-stage review process to identify a final sample of articles for data extraction. Twenty-four studies with low risk of bias were included in the synthesis. Regardless of delivery mechanism, we found consistent, favorable evidence of the impact of economic and concrete support as a prevention strategy to reduce child maltreatment and child welfare entry and to a lesser extent, improvements in child and adult well-being across these studies. Implications for policy, practice, and racial equity are discussed.

Turkish Grey cattle (B. taurus) are the only native cattle breed of Türkiye"s Thrace and Western Anatolia regions. They can spend the whole year as free herds, including the hottest and coldest months, and can survive, feed, and reproduce without any human intervention. Therefore, Turkish Grey cattle are of interest for genetic marker studies on heat stress tolerance. This study was aimed to identify genetic polymorphism in the DNA binding domain (DBD) encoding region of the heat shock transcription factor 1 (HSF1) gene in Holstein (n: 50) and Turkish Grey (n: 50) cattle. It was determined that the 121 amino acid long sequence encoded by the first three exons of the HSF1 gene was the same in Turkish Grey and Holstein cattle. Two intronic and one synonymous SNPs were identified in Turkish Grey (rs719296338, rs522980029, rs17880386) and one inronic SNP (rs17870386) in Holstein cattle by DNA sequencing. These SNPs were searched in the Bovine Genome Variation Database (BGVD). Interestingly, according to BGVD, rs522980029 was conserved in B. indicus but absent in B. taurus. Moreover, the rs719296338 locus is monomorphic in western European and Eurasian taurine but is polymorphic in East Asian taurines and B. indicus. The results support the view that B. indicus is genetic introgression into B. taurus cattle in Anatolia. This hybridization may have contributed to Turkish Grey cattle ability to adapt to harsh environmental conditions and heat stress.

Bu bağlamda tehdit ve işsizlik kaygısı iş ilişkilerinin yeni sorunlarından biridir. İş güvencesizliği kavramı ile işinin devamlılığıyla ilgili kaygı ve işin kaybedilmesinden kaynaklanan korkuyla birlikte çalışanların tepkileri artmıştır. Çalışma iş güvencesizliğinin yaratacağı etkileri, çalışanların güç kazanmak ve kendi menfaatlerini koruyacak şekilde politik davranış çerçevesiyle etkileyebileceğini göstermektedir. Benzer biçimde olumsuz iş tutumları yerine bu süreçte iyi olma, iyi olduğuna inanma ve başarısıyla iş sürecini etkileme biçiminde öz yeterlilik kavramının çalışanların içsel kontrol aracılığıyla süreçte bireysel ve örgütsel başarıda etkili bir faktör olduğu düşünülmektedir. Çalışmanın örneklemi 403 teknopark çalışanıdır. Çalışmada veriler istatiksel analiz yöntemleri ile test edilmiştir. İlk olarak iş güvencesizliği algısının sergilenen politik davranışlar üzerinde anlamlı ve pozitif yönde bir etki yarattığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. İkinci olarak da öz yeterliliğin politik davranışlar üzerinde etkisi bulunmuştur. Üçüncü olarak da politik davranışların her birinin üzerinde iş güvencesizliği alt boyutlarının ve öz yeterliliğin etkileri ortaya konmuştur.

AMAÇ: Popülasyonumuzdaki farklı iskeletsel ortodontik paterne sahip hastalarda mandibular kondil, koronoid çıkıntı ve sigmoid çentik morfolojilerini inceleyerek, söz konusu anatomik yapılarda gözlenebilecek olası farklılıkları belirlemeyi ve ilişkilerini değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktayız. Günümüzde çalışma hayatının doğası daha karmaşık, dinamik, çok daha esnek ve sanal hale dönüşmektedir. Böyle bir ortamda kurumların rekabet avantajı elde edebilmek için çalışanlarının bağlılığına ihtiyacı vardır. Yapılan araştırmalarda örgütüne bağlı çalışanların, ortalama ya da ortalamanın üzerinde performans gösterdikleri, daha az devamsızlık yaptıkları ve daha az işten ayrılmayı istedikleri sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır. Önemli çıktıları nedeniyle yıllardır hem araştırmacıların hem de uygulayıcıların ilgi odağında olan örgütsel bağlılığının öncüllerini iyi tanımlamak gerekir. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın amacı, örgütsel bağlılık düzeylerinin demografik değişkenlere (cinsiyet, yaş, medeni durum, kıdem, eğitim düzeyi) göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını analiz etmektir. Ayrıca örneklemin örgütsel bağlılık düzeylerini, duygusal bağlılık, devam bağlılığı ve normatif bağlılık boyutları açısından incelemektir. Denizli ilinde faaliyet gösteren toplam 151 özel sektör çalışanı üzerinde yapılan araştırma sonucunda elde edilen veriler analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre duygusal ve normatif bağlılığın yaş ve eğitim düzeyi değişkenlerine göre farklılaştığı; 31-40 yaş arası ve üniversite mezunu çalışanların bağlılık düzeylerinin daha yüksek olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Örneklemdeki örgütsel bağlılık düzeyleri incelendiğinde, çalışanların genel olarak örgütlerine bağlı oldukları söylenebilir.

Kapitalist ideolojinin iktisat-tarih mevzilendirmesiyle aldığı mesafe “geçmiş” ve “şimdi” değerlendirmeleriyle kazananların ve kaybedenlerin ilerlemeye dayalı bir tarihsel çizgide nasıl buluştuğuna şaşırmaktadır. Kapitalizm zulüm ve işgal ile değil, garp kurnazlığı ile geri kalmış toplumlara karşılık gelecek kültür coğrafyalarını hakimiyeti altına almıştır. Nitekim kapitalizmin gelişme süreci, bilime dört elle sarılan bakış açısı ile tarihçi ve iktisatçılardan geldi. Son üç yüzyıllık kapitalizmin tarihsel gelişim süreci konulara ilişkin can alıcı noktanın kapitalizm-bilim ittifakında düğümlendiğini gösterdi. Tarihi ilerleyiş sürecinde akan zamanla birlikte kapitalizm, bu toplumları söz konusu ittifaka dayalı yapısıyla “bütünüyle” biçimlendirdi. Toplumsal yapıda her ülkenin farklılığı üzerine giydirilebilecek “ideal ve tek üniforma” olarak ortaya çıkan kapitalizm kendini geri kalmış ya da azgelişmiş ülkelere “refah”, “mutluluk” ve “fayda” ölçümleriyle tanıtarak yer edinmiş ittifak çatısı altında dâhiyane bir biçimde geliştirilen yaklaşımlarla dünyada sömürü hâkimiyeti sağlamıştır. Çünkü kapitalizme yönelim geri kalmış ve azgelişmiş toplumlar için, bir “yıkılış” ve “başkalaşma” sürecidir. Bilim tarafına kulak verilecek olursa, iletilmek istenen mesaj bu toplumlar için fevkalade bir etkinleşmedir; “geride kalmaya”, “fakirliğe” ve “aşağılanmaya” dayalı geleneksel var oluşun bilimsel ve endüstriyel destekle bir medeniyet hamlesine dönüşmesidir. It is widely known that the use of medicinal plants and probiotics as feed additives has a positive effect on growth, non-specific immune system, and resistance to diseases in aquaculture. This study examines the effects of dietary supplementation with sage (Salvia officinalis) and myrtle (Myrtus communis), alone or in combination with a probiotic mixture (PM) on growth, intestine microflora and histology, some antioxidant enzymes activities in the muscle tissues of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and disease resistance against Vibrio anguillarum. For this purpose, fish were fed with a control diet of 1% sage, 1% myrtle, 1.1% probiotic mixture, 1% sage +1.1% PM and 1% myrtle+1.1% PM supplemented diets for 60 days. At the end of the trial, the fish fed the diets supplemented with myrtle and sage + PM showed a positive effect on feed conversion ratio. According to the histological assessment, the villi length, villi width and goblet cell numbers in the intestines of fish in all groups increased compared to the control. The purpose of this mixed-methods sequential explanatory study is two-fold. It is intended first, to determine the effect of problem-based learning (PBL) on problem-solving skills, and second, to reveal student opinions regarding PBL. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group was preferred in the quantitative dimension, while in the qualitative dimension, a case study design was adopted. The study group of the quantitative dimension consists of 46 students who study at the School of Foreign Languages of a public university in Türkiye. 23 of these students participated in the experiment, while 23 of them were included in the control group. The study group of the qualitative dimension is eight students who were selected from the experimental group. Problem Solving Inventory (PSI) was used to collect quantitative data, whereas a standardized open-ended interview form was used to collect qualitative data. Quantitative data were analysed through SPSS 22 package program. The qualitative data were analysed descriptively. Where PBL was applied, there was a significant increase in the problem-solving skills of the experimental group compared to the control group in which PBL was not applied. Qualitative data have pointed out that PBL improves problem-solving skills, academic skills, social skills, and language skills. Nevertheless, the long-term application period had a demotivating effect.

Objective:In this study; it was aimed to determine the differences of the estimated disability proportions between the cases sent by the forensic units, and which applied individually to the Forensic Medicine Department with the aim of issuing a disability report due to traffic accidents, and to present suggestions in terms of which regulation is more useful.Methods:A randomly selected sample size of 144 cases with a confidence rate of 95% and an expected 10% prevalence calculated with Epi-Info Version 7 program were retrospectively selected. The disability reports for this cases was given at Atatürk University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Forensic Medicine, to traffic accident happened before 31.12.2018 according to the legal regulations.Results:74.3% (n=107) of the cases were male and the mean age was 38.4 years. The average disability rate was found in the Regulation of Permanent Disabilities with 21.3%. The appreciation/comparison method was found most frequently in the Regulation of Permanent Disabilities as 29.9% (n=43).Conclusion:Due to its advantages such as the possibility of inclusion in calculation of personal factors such as age and occupation, which are important in the compensation in the Regulation of Permanent Disabilities, and being suitable for the medical comparison/appraisal method, allowing the interpretation of the medical specialist who prepared the report, and results more significant for victims regulation in disability calculations, we think that the regulation of Permanent Disabilities is the most convenient.

Aim: The aim of this study was to compare the shear bond strength (SBS) and adhesive remnant index of stainless-steel brackets bonded with different orthodontic adhesive systems. Materials and Methods: In our study performed on 60 premolar teeth extracted for orthodontic reasons, MBT prescription 0.022'' stainless-steel brackets (Discovery Smart®, Dentaurum, Germany) were used. In teeth randomly divided into 3 groups, bonding was performed with Group 1: Trulock Light Activated Bonding System (RMO, USA), Group 2: Bisco Ortho Bracket Paste LC (Bisco, USA), Group 3: Transbond XT Light Cure Adhesive (3M, USA). SBS and residual adhesive indexes (ARI) were evaluated by breaking the samples. Günümüzde dijital teknolojilerin hızla gelişmesi sonucunda ortaya çıkan dijital girişimcilik anlayışı, mevcut işlerin veya süreçlerin dönüşmesi olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Dijital girişimcilik dijital dönüşümün artmasıyla birlikte ekonomik refah, işsizlik sorununa çözüm ve yenilikçilik anlayışlarının temel taşı olarak görülmektedir. Özellikle son zamanlarda Covid-19 virüsü nedeniyle yaşanan şiddetli rekabetler dijital girişimciliğin öneminin artmasına yol açmaktadır. Bu makalede dijital girişimciliğin tanımı, önemi, tarihsel gelişimi, türleri, avantajlarından bahsedildikten sonra geleneksel girişimcilikten farklılaşan unsurlarına değinilmektedir. Ayrıca Dünya’da ve Türkiye’de faaliyet gösteren dijital girişimcilik örneklerine yer verilmiştir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman analizi kullanılan bu çalışmada, Türkiye’de yemek ve market sektöründe faaliyet gösteren üç büyük (Getir, Yemeksepeti ve Trendyol) dijital girişimciliğin tanıtımı ve çeşitli açılardan değerlendirilmesi yapılmıştır. Çalışmada, belirtilen firmalar hakkında az sayıda mevcut olan makale nedeniyle çoğunlukla dijital ortamlarda yayınlanan röportaj, haber ve söyleşileri ulaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’deki katılım bankacılığı kredi hacimlerinin geleneksel bankacılık kredi hacimlerindeki payı ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki nedensellik ilişkisini ortaya koymaktır.Bu amaçla, 2005Q1-2020Q1 dönemini içeren çeyrek periyotluk katılım ve geleneksel bankacılık kredi hacimleri ile Gayri Safi Yurt İçi Hâsıla verileri kapsamında oluşturulan veri setinin tanımsal istatistikleri araştırma döneminde yapısal kırılmaların varlığını gösterdiğinden, ilk olarak serilere Bai-Perron Yapısal Kırılma testi uygulanmış, ardından test aracılığıyla belirlenen iki anlamlı kırılmaya bağlı olarak, ikili kırılmaları dikkate alan Lee-Strazicich Birim Kök Testi gerçekleştirilmiş, son olarak uygulanan Toda-Yamamoto nedensellik testi sonuçlarına göre katılım bankacılığı kredi hacimlerinin geleneksel bankacılık kredi hacimleri içindeki payından ekonomik büyümeye doğru tek yönlü nedensellik ilişkisi tespit edilmiştir.

This study aims to show results of a prospective study on the relationship and the variation between the number of aphid species and the number of alien aphid species in Türkiye, the taxonomic diversity of alien aphids, their distribution in Türkiye and the regions of origin of alien aphids. The study showed the presence of 57 alien aphid species belonging to 32 genera from the Aphidomorpha infraorder (Hemiptera) recorded in Türkiye between 1903 and 2021. It was shown that the alien aphid constitute about 10% of the aphid fauna of Türkiye including 592 species belonging to 148 genera. Based on 119 years of data, the average introduction rate of alien aphids into the aphid fauna of Türkiye was calculated as 0.48 species per year. It was shown that the alien aphids are found in 60 to 81 different provinces in Türkiye. We conclude that more local and territorial studies should be carried out in order to evaluate details of the current status and distribution of alien aphids in Türkiye.

Çalışmanın amacı enerji arz güvenliği kavramı merkezinde enerji piyasaları ve finansal piyasalar arasındaki dinamik ilişkileri incelemektir. Bu doğrultuda, BRICS-T ülkeleri için (Brezilya, Rusya, Hindistan, Çin, G. Afrika ve Türkiye) 1994-2018 dönemi yıllık verilerini kapsayan borsa endeksi, petrol fiyatı ve uluslararası enerji güvenliği risk endeks puanı kullanılmış ve söz konusu ilişkiyi araştırmak için Toda & Yamamoto (TY) ve Fourier Toda & Yamamoto (FTY) nedensellik yöntemlerinden yararlanılarak değişkenler analiz edilmiştir. Ampirik bulgular, (i) Brezilya hariç bütün ülkelerde pay senedi piyasasından enerji güvenliği riskine ve yalnızca Türkiye’de enerji güvenliği riskinden pay senedi piyasasına nedensellik, (ii) Çin ile Türkiye’de enerji güvenliği riski ile petrol fiyatı arasında karşılıklı nedensellik ilişkisinin varlığını gösterirken, ancak Brezilya’da ise petrol fiyatından enerji güvenliği riskine nedensellik olduğunu göstermektedir. Bulgular, böylelikle, BRICS-T ülkeleri için enerji-finans ilişkisinde, finansal piyasaların enerji güvenliği riski açısından önemini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu sonuç, bu ülkelerin finans piyasalarından kaynaklı belirsizlik ve risklerin, enerji güvenliği politikalarında dikkate alınması gerektiği yönünde bir çıkarsama içermektedir.

İş yaşantısı tarihi süreç içerisinde çalışan ve yönetici tarafıyla kimi zaman avantaj kimi zaman dezavantaj olarak görülen düzenleme ve değişiklikler doğrultusunda çift yönlü bir etkiyle ilerlemiştir. Ancak 1980 sonrası yaşanan sosyo-ekonomik anlamdaki değişimler çalışan tarafını olumsuz yönde derinden etkileyen rekabet ve kârlılık baskılarını getirmiştir. Bu baskılar altında iş hayatında çalışanı usandırmaya yönelik sistematik ve örgütlü birtakım hareket ve yaklaşımlarla iş yaşamı ilişkileri adeta tehdit niteliği kazanmıştır. Yaşanılan bu süreçte çalışanların karşı karşıya kaldığı etik dışı davranışlar karşılığı olarak ifade edilen “yıldırma” olgusu ve bu olgusunun yarattığı olumsuz tutum, davranış ve etkiler, iş hayatında önlemler alınmasını gerektirmektedir. Bu çalışma, günümüzde hem bireysel hem de örgütsel sağlık ve başarının risk faktörlerinden biri olarak karşımıza çıkan yıldırma davranışlarını bankacılık sektöründe araştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda 156 kamu ve özel banka çalışanının yaşadığı yıldırma davranışlarının düzeyi ile etkilerini ortaya çıkarmak için anket tekniği ile elde edilen bulgular analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada ulaşılan bulgular çerçevesinde hipotezler test edilmiş ve örneklemde yıldırma davranışlarının düzeyinin düşük ve etkilerinin yüksek olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Yıldırma davranışlarının hemen hemen her ülke ve her sektörde artış sağladığı dikkate alınarak farkındalık yaratmak ve konuyla ilgili iyileştirici etkiler için literatürdeki “sıfır yıldırma / zero mobbing” hedefine yönelik öneriler ile çalışmanın alana katkı sağlayacağına inanılmaktadır.

Günlük hayatımızda probiyotik, fonksiyonel gıdalar, nutrasötikler ve sağlıklı beslenme gibi kelimeleri daha bilinçli kullandıkça raflarda bunlara yönelik ürünlere olan talep de artmaktadır. Endüstri ise gelişen teknolojik uygulamalar, bilime ulaşma kolaylığı ve Ar-Ge çalışmalarına verilen önemle bu tarz ürünleri raflara koymakta yarışmaktadır. Probiyotiklerin gıda alanında özellikle süt ürünlerinde daha sık kullanımı dikkat çekicidir. Farklı probiyotik mikroorganizmaların kullanımı bu sayısal üstünlüğü sağlamada destekleyen unsurdur. Yanı sıra süt ürünleri yelpazesinin genişliği ve süt ürünlerinin bu mikroorganizmalar için uygun ortam oluşu probiyotik ürün çeşitliliğini sağlamaktadır. Süt endüstrisinde probiyotikler en çok yoğurt ürününde kullanılmaktadır, peynirde daha az kullanılmasının nedenlerinin en başında, uzun raf ömrü süresince probiyotik mikroorganizma sayısının korunamaması gelmektedir. Bu derlemede, probiyotikler, probiyotiklerle zenginleştirilmiş peynirler ile ilgili araştırmalar, kullanılan kültürlerin ürün kalitesindeki etkileri ve peynirlerin üretiminde probiyotik mikroorganizmaların canlılığını etkileyen faktörler ile ilgili yapılan çalışmalar incelenmiştir. Ayrıca Türkiye ve dünyada probiyotik peynir üretimi değerlendirilmiştir. Probiyotik mikroorganizmaların biyoyararlılıkları sebebiyle alternatif ürün olarak probiyotik peynir üretiminin teşvik edilmesi önerilmektedir.

Abstract Cerebral cavernous malformation (CCM) is a vascular lesion of the central nervous system that may lead to distinct symptoms among patients including cerebral hemorrhages, epileptic seizures, focal neurologic deficits, and/or headaches. Disease-related mutations were identified previously in one of the three CCM genes: CCM1, CCM2, and CCM3. However, the rate of these mutations in sporadic cases is relatively low, and new studies report that mutations in CCM genes may not be sufficient to initiate the lesions. Despite the growing body of research on CCM, the underlying molecular mechanism has remained largely elusive. In order to provide a novel insight considering the specific manifested symptoms, CCM patients were classified into two groups (as Epilepsy and Hemorrhage). Since the studied patients experience various symptoms, we hypothesized that the underlying cause for the disease may also differ between those groups. To this end, the respective transcriptomes were compared to the transcriptomes of the control brain tissues and among each other. This resulted into the identification of the differentially expressed coding genes and the delineation of the corresponding differential expression profile for each comparison. Notably, some of those differentially expressed genes were previously implicated in epilepsy, cell structure formation, and cell metabolism. However, no CCM1-3 gene deregulation was detected. Interestingly, we observed that when compared to the normal controls, the expression of some identified genes was only significantly altered either in Epilepsy (EGLN1, ELAVL4, and NFE2l2) or Hemorrhage (USP22, EYA1, SIX1, OAS3, SRMS) groups. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first such effort focusing on CCM patients with epileptic and hemorrhagic symptoms with the purpose of uncovering the potential CCM-related genes. It is also the first report that presents a gene expression dataset on Turkish CCM patients. The results suggest that the new candidate genes should be explored to further elucidate the CCM pathology. Overall, this work constitutes a step towards the identification of novel potential genetic targets for the development of possible future therapies.

Objective:This study aimed to investigate the relationship between sleep quality and anxiety levels of individuals in Turkey during the Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.Materials and Methods:In this cross-sectional study, data were electronically collected between 10 May 2020 and 30 July 2020. Personal information form, State-trait anxiety inventory and Pittsburg sleep quality index were used as data collection tools.Results:A statistically significant difference was found in terms of gender, age, educational status, economic status, childbearing status and state-trait anxiety scores. It was determined that 183 (78.9%) participants with good sleep quality did not have sleep problems after the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, and 113 (65.3%) participants with poor sleep quality experienced sleep problems after the start of the COVID-19 outbreak. As a result of an increase in the state-strait anxiety scale score by 1 point, the risk of poor sleep quality increased 1.051 times (5.1%).Conclusion:In this study, the anxiety levels of women, young people, children, individuals with low educational status and individuals with poor economic status were high. After the COVID-19 outbreak started, the number of individuals with sleep problems increased. Increasing anxiety levels during the COVID-19 outbreak increased poor sleep quality. These results will help mental health professionals, who are involved in community mental health services, to manage such individuals in a better way.

To evaluate the perception of smile aesthetics and midline deviation considered by orthodontists (ORT), dentists (DT), patient’s-relatives (PR), and laypersons (LP) using an eye-tracking device and survey.

The durability, fatigue resistance, and low-temperature behavior of asphalt layers are greatly affected by the properties of bitumen. Therefore, the composition of bitumen is frequently modified to improve the performance of asphalt mixtures. Sty-rene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) has been the most often used additive recently. Researchers are trying to improve the cohesive and adhesive properties of binders by such polymer-based additives. In this study, 160/220 penetration grade bitumen and Kraton D 1101 SBS were used. The present study contains a new evaluation for determining the cohesive behavior of SBS-modified binders at -1°C, -3°C, and -5°C. The results of this evaluation were compared to conventional and rheological test results. Penetration, softening point, viscosity, dynamic shear rheometer, and bending beam rheometer tests were therefore conducted. Finally, the results of a low-temperature tensile test were found to be consistent with the results of the other tests; hence, they also confirm the cohesive behavior of SBS-modified binders at low temperatures.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the success rates of the artificial neural network models (NNMs) and naive Bayes models (NBMs) trained with various cervical vertebra ratios in cephalometric radiographs for determining growth and development.Methods: Our retrospective study was performed on 360 individuals between the ages of 8 and 17 years, whose cephalometric radiographs were taken. According to the evaluation of cephalometric radiographs, growth and development periods were divided into 6 vertebral stages. Each stage was considered as a group, each group had 30 girls and 30 boys. Twenty-eight cervical vertebral ratios were obtained by using 10 horizontal and 13 vertical measurements. These 28 vertebral ratios were combined in 4 different combinations, leading to 4 different datasets. Each dataset was split into 2 parts as training and testing. To prevent the overfitting, a 5-cross fold validation technique was also used in the training phase. The experiments were conducted on 2 different train/test ratios as 80%-20% and 70%-30% for both NNMs and NBMs.Results: The highest determination success rate was obtained in NNM 3 (0.95) and the lowest in NBM 4 (0.50). The determination success of NBM 1 and NBM 3 was almost similar (0.60). The success of NNM 2 did not differ much from that of NNM 1 (0.94). The determination success of stage 5 was relatively lower than the others in NNM 1 and NNM 2 (0.83).Conclusion: The NNMs were more successful than the NBMs in our developed models. It is important to determine the effective ratio and/or measurements that will be useful for differentiation.

Kefiran is an exopolysaccharide (EPS) produced by specific microorganisms in the kefir grain. In this research, kefir grain was activated in various carbon sources (glucose, galactose or lactose) containing medium. The monosaccharides composition of the formed kefiran were determined by a high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). HPLC with refractive index (RI) detector was used in order to make qualitative and quantitative analysis of sucrose, glucose, galactose, arabinose, xylose, and ribose present in kefiran. Also, the physical properties of differently kefiran formed were determined. The amount of kefiran in the control group and in the sample from the galactose containing medium were determined to be 511.00 and 610.55 mg/L, respectively. The kefiran form obtained from the medium containing galactose was more positively affected than in other media. The apparent viscosity, at a shear rate of 66.0 s-1of the kefiran produced in glucose containing medium, was determined to be 29.2 mPas. The surface morphologies of different kefirans were analysed and roughness parameters were determined by atomic force microscopy (AFM); the maximum height of lumps ranged from 16.80 to 22.10 nm. In this study, of sucrose, glucose, galactose, arabinose, xylose, and ribose were found in sugar composition in all kefiran samples.

Combined with the increasing demand for environmental pollution and electrical energy, combined cycle power plant power plants are increasingly important. It is necessary to increase the performance of power plants, reduce carbon emissions and increase energy production. Any change to the heat recovery steam generator design is an important component of the combined cycle power plant, as it directly affects the performance of the combined cycle power plant. This study describes the modeling, sensitivity and exergy analysis of a HRSG in a combined cycle power plant. Three-pressure HRSG was modeled with the Aspen Plus simulation program and sensitivity analysis was performed. At the same time, energy and exergy analyzes were made for each component in the combined cycle power plant.

Rekabet - istikrar/kırılganlık hipotezi, bankacılık literatüründe en sık tartışılan konulardan birisidir. Literatürde rekabet ve istikrar / kırılganlık ilişkisini inceleyen çok sayıda ampirik çalışma olmasına rağmen, yüksek rekabetin, istikrar mı, yoksa istikrarsızlığa mı neden olduğu konusunda literatürde ortak bir görüş ortaya konulmamıştır. Buradan hareketle bu çalışmanın temel amacı, rekabet - istikrar/kırılganlık hipotezinin geçerliliğini ele alınan 26 Avrupa Birliği (AB) ülkesi için analiz etmektir. Söz konusu ülkelere ait 156 ticari bankanın 2006-2014 dönemini kapsayan verileri kullanılarak hipotezin geçerliliğine yönelik bir ampirik kanıt ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmada kullanılan temel analiz araçları; rekabet gücünün ölçümü için Lerner ve Boone indeksi, finansal istikrarın ölçülmesine yönelik teknik olarak Z-skoru yaklaşımı kullanılmıştır. Bu analiz araçlarını GMM yaklaşımı ile temel hipotezin test edilmesi izlemiştir. Çalışmada elde edilen bulgulara göre Lerner ve Boone indeksleri, bankaların rekabet gücünün ele alınan dönem boyunca azalan bir eğilim gösterdiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Finansal istikrarın göstergesi olan Z-skoru ise kriz dönemleri başta olmak üzere dalgalı bir seyir izlemektedir. GMM tahmin sonuçlarına göre ise piyasa gücü ile istikrar arasında pozitif bir ilişkinin olduğu bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu açıdan değerlendirildiğinde rekabet – kırılganlık hipotezi doğrulanmıştır. Bulgular tekelci rekabetin olduğu bir piyasada regülasyona dayalı politikalar ve tekelci bir yapılanma ile istikrarının sağlanabileceği yönündedir. Çalışmanın önemli bulgusu finansal sistemin tekelci rekabet yapısında daha istikrarlı olacağı yönündedir.

Shape memory alloys’ characteristics are different from ordinary materials because they can memorize their pre-determined shape, thus they are excellent candidates for different applications. In this review article, the most interesting parameters that researchers are using in their investigation have been highlighted. Also, the popular techniques used for the characterization of shape memory alloys have been described. The diagrams and sketches can show a clear view of metallurgies and related research areas.

Aim:Acute appendicitis (AA) is the condition that most commonly requires a surgical procedure in children presenting to the emergency department with acute abdominal pain. Alvarado and Pediatric Appendicitis scores (PAS) are the most widely used scoring systems in the diagnosis of AA in children. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Alvarado and PAS scores in the diagnosis of AA in children.Materials and Methods:One hundred and two patients aged 3-17 years, who were admitted to the pediatric emergency department with acute abdominal pain and had a clinical suspicion of AA were included in this retrospective study. The demographic characteristics, laboratory and radiological findings, and Alvarado and PAS scores were obtained from the records of the patients, retrospectively. According to the results of pathology, n=48 patients for the AA group and n=54 patients for the non-AA group were identified. The AA and non-AA groups were compared in terms of PAS and Alvarado scores.Results:The mean age of the 102 patients was 9.38±3.90 years, and 62 (60.85%) of them were male. The median PAS score was 7.79±1.2 and 5.52±1.34, and the median Alvarado score was 7.98±1.14 and 5.89±1.53 in the AA and N-AA groups, respectively (p7 with a sensitivity of 66.7%, a specificity of 94.4%, a positive predictive value (PPV) of 91.4%, and a negative predictive value (NPV) of 76.1% (p7, with a sensitivity of 77.1%, a specificity of 85.2%, PPV of 82.2%, and NPV of 80.7% (p

Türkoloji çevreleri tarafından TİEM 73 adı ile bilinen Barutcu Özönder danışmanlığında Kök ve Ünlü tarafından üzerinde doktora tezi yapılarak YÖK’ün Ulusal Tez Merkezinde 141355 tez numarası ile Abdullah Kök adına, 144348 tez numarası ile Suat Ünlü adına kayıtlı bulunan TİEM 73, on dört yıl sonra 2018 yılının Mayıs ayının sonunda Ünlü tarafından Konya Selçuklu Belediyesince neşredilmiştir. Bu çalışmada Selçuklu Belediyesi tarafından neşredilen “Karahanlı Türkçesi İlk Türkçe Satıraltı Transkribeli Kur’an Tercümesi TİEM-73” adlı 8 ciltlik eserin 5. cildi ele alınacaktır. Bu çalışma, TİEM 73’ün 1v/1-235v/2 kısımlarını kapsayan 5. cildin tamamı ile 6. cildin 16. sayfasının ilk paragrafına kadar olan kısmını içermektedir. Kök’ün 141355 numara ile YÖK’ün Ulusal Tez Merkezinde kayıtlı YÖK fligranlı tezinde dikkatsizce yapılan basit hataların bir ve aynı olarak harfi harfine yine on dört yıl sonra Ünlü’nün 2018 Selçuklu Belediyesi neşrinde de tekrarlanmış olan birebir hataların ve aynılıkların listesi yorumsuz olarak verilecektir. Bu bir ve aynılık üzerine hiçbir yorum yapılmadan liste şeklinde sıralanıp Türklük bilimi çevrelerinin dikkatine sunulacaktır.

Çalışmanın temel amacı, askeri harcamaların; teknoloji veya pozitif dışsallıklar üzerinden büyümeyi uyarıcı etkisinin araştırılmasıdır. Uygulamalı literatürde yaygın bir şekilde işlenmiş olan bu çalışma, uzun dönemli iktisadi büyümenin asıl bileşenleri olan sermaye birikimi ve teknolojik gelişmenin; transfer niteliğindeki askeri harcamalar değişkeni ile ne ölçüde ve nasıl etkileşim içinde olduğu konusunu incelemektedir. Burada, 33 OECD ülkesinin gözlem değerlerinden hareketle Genişletilmiş Solow Modeli ve Feder-RAM temelli modeller üzerinden; Sistem GMM yöntemiyle tahmin edilmiş model katsayıları yorumlanmıştır. Çalışmanın bulguları açısından, askeri harcamalar değişkeninin büyümeye etkisi Genişletilmiş Solow Modelinde negatif, aynı değişkenin gecikmeli değeri nise pozitif etkiye shiptir. Gecikmeli değerin pozitif etkisi akla teknolojik gelişmenin işlevsel yayılma etkisini getirmektetir. Feder-RAM temelli modelin tahmini sonucunda, askeri harcamalar değişkeninin büyümeye pozitif katkı yaptığı gözlemlenmiş olmakla birlikte çıktı içindeki payının değişim oranının negatif etki göstermesi, sivil sektör kaynaklı büyümenin baskın olması gerektiği hususunu düşündürmektedir. Bununla birlikte, her iki model de askeri harcamaların büyümeye etkisi kısmen önemlidir. Çünkü modelin tahmincisi katsayılar oldukça küçüktür. Ancak, devletlerin bekası gereği yapılması zorunlu olan bir harcama olan askeri mal ve hizmet üretiminin büyümeye katkısının artırılması için teknoloji ve bilgi artışını sağlayan sabit sermaye yatırımları ve ar-ge harcamalarının verimliğini artıracak politikalar geliştirimesi önemli olup karar alıcılar aaçısından da önensenmelidir. Bu çalışmada, hafif silah üreten firmaların sivil talep yönlü desteklenmesinin teknoloji dışşalığını artıracağı beklentisi ek bir öneri kapsamında sunulmaktadır.

Ülkelerin gelişmişliğini gösteren ölçütlerden en önemlisi, o ülkedeki anne-bebek ölüm oranlarıdır. Anne ölüm oranı obstetrik riski temsil etmektedir. Dünya Sağlık Örgütü’nün raporuna göre; her gün yaklaşık 830 kadın gebelik ve doğumla ilgili önlenebilir nedenlerden dolayı ölmektedir. Gebelik ve doğum sırasındaki komplikasyonlar, gelişmekte olan ülkelerde üreme çağındaki kadınlar arasında ölüm ve sakatlığın önde gelen nedenlerindendir. Gebelikte yüksek riske neden olabilecek faktörler arasında plasental anomaliler ve gestasyonel diyabet yer almaktadır. Plasenta previa 1/200-250 gebelikte bir görülürken; gestasyonel diyabetin Türkiye’deki prevalansı %1,2-4,5’dir. Diyabetik gebeliklerin %90’ı gebelikte oluşan diyabettir. Bu çalışmada; plasenta previa ve gestasyonel diyabet tanıları ile yüksek riskli gebelik kliniğinde yatan bir gebenin hemşirelik bakım sürecinin, bütüncül ve sistematik bir bakım planı ile değerlendirilmesi hedeflenmiştir. İki önemli sağlık riski bulunan gebenin kapsamlı bir hemşirelik bakım gereksiniminin olması bu olgunun önemini vurgulamaktadır.
