A novel preparation of silver nanoparticles using Morus nigra leaves extract, as opposed to the physical and chemical methods had been used in this work. Their active phytochemical compounds will reduce Ag+ and form AgNPs (Ag0). A peak spectrum at 460 nm was formed and confirmed as the Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR). Vibration at 1643 cm-1 and 3286 cm-1 which characteristic of C=C bonds and (-OH) hydroxyl groups, respectively. An X-ray diffraction (XRD) examination of silver with good crystallinity revealed its distinctive pattern. According to the results of transmission electron microscopy (TEM), the produced AgNPs-Morus nigra leaves extract were between 10 and 20 nm in size. Using L-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA) as the substrate, the synthesized AgNPs-Morus nigra were tested for their tyrosinase inhibitory activity, and the results are substantial when compared to kojic acid as a control. The percentages of inhibition from crude extract, AgNPs, and kojic acid at 100 µg/mL are to be found at 12.10 %, 64.80 %, and 59.84 %, respectively. Based on the results of this work, AgNPs can be produced by utilizing a green synthesis method with leaves extract, making them a promising candidate for use in medicine and cosmetics.

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is a low-virulence opportunistic pathogen that causes human infections, especially in profound ill patients. Even if the bacterial genomes seem understood, the activities of many proteins are unknown. The purpose of our current research is to unravel the functional characteristics i.e. functional domain search and valuable regions of a hypothetical protein that would aid in the identification of potential drug targets in Stenotrophomonas maltophilia. The hypothetical protein of S.maltophilia was located and annotated using different in silico techniques. Our target protein was predicted to be Transcrip Reg superfamily YebC/PmpR based on motif and domain analysis by functional annotation tools. The regulator proteins of the YebC family are part of a vast collection of widely conserved hypothetical proteins with unclear functions. Examining and reviewing the function of YebC family protein, they repress Quorum sensing by directly binding to the promoter region of QS master regulator pqrS. It has also been reported that T3SS expression is regulated by YebC, to activate the virulence expression direct interaction with one of the T3SS promoters is needed.

This article aimed to analyze the factors that influence the pros and cons of the community regarding the COVID-19 vaccine policy and discuss the formulation of the Indonesian Government's policy regarding the distribution of an effective vaccine to realize the right to life amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the methodology of this research is normative, in the hope that the research approach was carried out for researchers to obtain information from various aspects in order to find the issues to be addressed. Normative research uses legal materials obtained through scientific literature or the law. The results of the conclusion show that the factors influencing the pros and cons of the community regarding the fulfillment of the right to life through vaccine policies consisted of multicultural settings that affected the mindset and perspective of the community in perceiving the COVID-19 virus outbreak so that there were differences of opinion regarding government policies that echoed mass vaccines to aggravate the number of the positive cases. Besides, the government's consistency factor in the form of data disclosure regarding COVID-19 led the public to obtain inaccurate information from various sources, giving rise to diverse public opinions. The formulation of government policies related to the provision of effective vaccines to realize the right to life amid the COVID-19 pandemic was done through the 3S vaccine policy, namely before the vaccine, during the vaccine, and after the vaccine. These included campaigns of the main objectives of the COVID-19 vaccine, priority allocation of COVID-19 vaccinations, and efforts to supervise COVID-19 vaccinations.

Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) implants are becoming an interesting subject in implant design research and development activities due to their complexity. They should be able to facilitate knee movement while supporting body weight during daily usage. Meanwhile, incidents such as hyperflexion in TKA implants outside their designated configuration can lead to subluxation and dislocation in this study, a polyethylene component of a posterior-stabilized right knee joint implant was developed to facilitate a high range of motion (ROM). Finite element analysis (FEA) was used to analyze the contact area on the polyethylene component. FEA was used to simulate weight-bearing conditions at 0°, 30°, 60°, 90°, 120°, and 150° of knee flexion. The modified polyethylene component resulted in better performance in terms of contact area, especially at 120° of knee flexion. The two dominant contact areas on the polyethylene component were 733 mm² at 0° of knee flexion and 576 mm² at 120° of knee flexion. Furthermore, the current design of the polyethylene component can maintain a contact area of 65 mm² at 150° of knee flexion. The current design is expected to accommodate deep knee flexion movement in daily activities and reduce the possibility of subluxation and dislocation at the polyethylene component during deep knee flexion. In addition, a large contact area can reduce the potential wear on or fracture of the polyethylene component. Finally, the result of FEA was validated using a simulator of knee kinematic motion; there was no indication of subluxation and dislocation at any degree of knee flexion.

Multidrug-resistant bacteria have been found in these infected wounds, especially in patients who have multi trauma and prolonged stay in intensive care units.Purpose: The objective of this study was to develop a coating on orthopedic implants that is effective against drug-resistant bacteria.Methods and results: We applied nanoparticles (30-70nm) of the trace element selenium (Se) as a coating through surface-induced nucleation-deposition on titanium implants and investigated the antimicrobial activity against drug resistant bacteria including Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis (MRSE) in vitro and in an infected femur model in rats.The nanoparticles were shown in vitro to have antimicrobial activity at concentrations as low as 0.5ppm. The nanoparticle coatings strongly inhibited biofilm formation on the implants and reduced the number of viable bacteria in the surrounding tissue following inoculation of implants with biofilm forming doses of bacteria.Conclusion: This study shows a proof of concept for a selenium nanoparticle coatings as a potential anti-infective barrier for orthopedic medical devices in the setting of contamination with multi-resistant bacteria. It also represents one of the few (if only) in vivo assessment of selenium nanoparticle coatings on reducing antibiotic-resistant orthopedic implant infections.Keywords: orthopedic, implants, antimicrobial, biofilm, selenium, nanoparticles

This paper presents a study on the effect of the mixed volume fraction of Jatropha curcas Oil (JCO) and Olea europea or extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) on the physical properties of the oil, especially viscosity, density and water content. This study also presents the mechanical properties examination result, especially its effect on the wear rate of the pin on disc tribometer results on ST 41 steel specimens, using optical microscopy. The independent variables used were variations of the oil mixture: 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100% EVOO. With the increase in the percentage of the EVOO mixture in JCO, the density decreases. The result of water content in a higher percentage of JCO, the higher the water content value of 0.1217%. Pure JCO has the higher viscosity value of 1.9084 m2/s. The higher the percentage of JCO, the lower the wear rate value obtained. In the tribometer test, the pin on disk mixture of pure JCO has the lower wear value of 5.09 m2/s.

Abstract Soil contamination with heavy metals presents a substantial environmental peril, necessitating the exploration of innovative remediation approaches. This research aimed to investigate the efficiency of nano-silica in stabilizing heavy metals in a calcareous heavy metal-contaminated soil. The soil was treated with five nano-silica levels of 0, 100, 200, 500, and 1000 mg/kg and incubated for two months. The results showed that nano-silica had a specific surface area of 179.68 $${\text{m}}^{2}/\text{g}$$ m 2 / g . At 1000 mg/kg, the DTPA-extractable concentrations of Pb, Zn, Cu, Ni, and Cr decreased by 12%, 11%, 11.6%, 10%, and 9.5% compared to the controls, respectively. Additionally, as the nano-silica application rate increased, both soil pH and specific surface area increased. The augmentation of nano-silica adsorbent in the soil led to a decline in the exchangeable (EX) and carbonate-bound fractions of Pb, Cu, Zn, Ni, and Cr, while the distribution of heavy metals in fractions bonded with Fe–Mn oxides, organic matter, and residue increased. The use of 1000 mg/kg nano-silica resulted in an 8.0% reduction in EX Pb, 4.5% in EX Cu, 7.3% in EX Zn, 7.1% in EX Ni, and 7.9% in EX Cr compared to the control treatment. Overall, our study highlights the potential of nano silica as a promising remediation strategy for addressing heavy metal pollution in contaminated soils, offering sustainable solutions for environmental restoration and ecosystem protection.

By looking at previous literature, this study aimed to analyze the construct of plyometric exercise variation. Comprehensive methods are used for these articles, such as searching for articles in database research journals. Semantic, Scopus, Scholar, and Crossref are the data sources for this database. The variety of plyometric exercises and vertical jump skills are the main themes. Fifty-one articles were verified, and then 12 articles were evaluated based on objectives, topics, sample size, research protocols, and results. Plyometric exercises are exercises in which the movements are explosive and, besides being practical, also train muscle strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and agility. The purpose of volleyball training is so that players can acquire good basic techniques, strengthen physical strength, and develop interests and talents. To improve jumping ability, various exercises are performed from the beginner level. Therefore, the ability to jump and jump is essential for the volleyball game. The novelty in this study is the using a form of plyometric exercise that is varied according to the characteristics of athletes aged 14-17 years that have never previously been applied in volleyball clubs, which is the focus in this study of plyometric exercise variation methods, namely plyometric squat jump, skipping and hurdle hopping. The intensity of the exercise will be adjusted to the characteristics, and physiological development of male athletes aged 14-17 years.

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi penerapan arsitektur deep learning berbasis transformer untuk mengidentifikasi emosi dari ulasan pelanggan e-commerce berbahasa Indonesia. Menggunakan dataset yang terdiri dari 5.400 ulasan pelanggan, model ini dirancang untuk mengklasifikasikan lima kategori emosi: Happy, Sadness, Anger, Love, dan Fear. Hasil analisis menunjukkan kecenderungan pelanggan untuk berbagi pengalaman positif dengan dominasi emosi Happy dalam ulasan. Model Transformer berhasil mencapai akurasi klasifikasi keseluruhan sebesar 77,2%, dengan efisiensi waktu pelatihan yang optimal sekitar 90 detik. Evaluasi performa menggunakan confusion matrix dan metrik presisi, recall, dan F1-score memberikan wawasan tentang keefektifan model dalam membedakan emosi kompleks. Temuan ini merefleksikan potensi pemanfaatan teknologi deep learning dalam meningkatkan pemahaman terhadap perilaku pelanggan dan mendukung pengembangan strategi bisnis yang responsif. Abstract Background Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors have demonstrated reduction in heart failure outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, although the exact mechanism of benefit remains unclear. Alteration in left atrial (LA) function due to chronic pressure or volume overload is a hallmark of heart failure. Objective To evaluate the effect of the SGLT2 inhibitor empagliflozin on LA volume and function. Methods 90 patients with coronary artery disease and type 2 diabetes (T2DM) were randomized to empagliflozin (n = 44) or placebo (n = 46), and underwent cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging at baseline and after 6 months. The main outcome was change in LA volume; LA function, including active and passive components, was also measured by a blinded reader. Results At baseline, there was no significant difference in LA volumes between the empagliflozin (indexed maximum LA volume 26.4 ± 8.4mL/m2, minimum LA volume 11.1 ± 5.7mL/m2) and placebo (indexed maximum LA volume 28.7 ± 8.2mL/m2, minimum LA volume 12.6 ± 5.0mL/m2) groups. After 6 months, changes in LA volumes did not differ with adjusted difference (empagliflozin minus placebo): 0.99 mL/m2 (95% CI: -1.7 to 3.7 mL/m2; p = 0.47) for indexed maximum LA volume, and 0.87 mL/m2 (95% CI: -0.9 to 2.6 mL/m2; p = 0.32) for indexed minimum LA volume. Changes in total LA emptying fraction were also similar, with between-group adjusted mean difference − 0.01 (95% CI: -0.05 to 0.03, p = 0.59). Conclusion SGLT2 inhibition with empagliflozin for 6 months did not have a significant impact on LA volume and function in patients with T2DM and coronary artery disease. Salah satu tipe mobil yang diminati oleh masyarakat Indonesia yaitu Toyota Fortuner yang termasuk dalam kelas mobil SUV (sport utility vehicle). Dalam pengoperasiannya mobil SUV harus mampu memberikan keamanan dan kenyamanan bagi pengendaranya. Salah satu faktor penunjang dari segi keamanan mobil ini yaitu perilaku arah beloknya. Dengan harga jual yang relatif tinggi di Indonesia, diharapkan mobil ini dapat memberikan perilaku arah belok yang baik. Terdapat dua tahapan dalam peneltian ini yaitu tahap analisis dan uji jalan pada radius belok tetap, 10 meter. Pada tahap analisis dilakukan perhitungan berdasarkan analisa slip, skid, dan guling untuk mengetahui perilaku arah belok mobil dengan variasi pada parameter operasionalnya yaitu: jumlah penumpang, kecepatan, sudut belok, kondisi permukaan jalan, dan tekanan ban. Selain itu, analisis pengaruh penggunaaan stabilizer terhadap perilaku arah belok mobil juga dilakukan. Uji jalan dilakukan untuk mengetahui Koefisien Understeer (KUS) dari mobil tersebut pada jalan aspal dan tanah dengan kondisi mobil tanpa dan menggunakan stabilizer. Hasil yang didapatkan dari uji jalan akan dibandingkan dengan hasil dari analisis perhitungan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa mobil Toyota Fortuner mengalami kondisi belok paling baik ketika dinaiki oleh 2 orang penumpang dengan tekanan ban sebesar 35 Psi dan melintas pada jalan aspal karena kendaraan lebih sedikit mengalami oversteer dan memiliki (KUS) positif terkecil serta tidak mudah mengalami skid. Penggunaan stabilizer pada mobil Toyota Fortuner tidak berpengaruh terhadap perilaku arah beloknya karena KUS yang dihasilkan pada uji jalan nilainya hampir sama yaitu 1,8045 dan 1,8115 pada jalan aspal serta 2,151 dan 2,1641 pada jalan tanah. Namun, penggunaan stabilizer bermanfaat untuk memperkecil sudut guling ketika mobil berbelok.

Objective To develop a microsimulation model for type 2 diabetes using population-level real-world data. Such a model allows for the synthesis of multiple data sources for comparative effectiveness analysis related to a variety of correlated outcomes. Approach The model was built using health state features including sex, age, diabetes duration, laboratory test results, and a history of major acute events. Features update using a cycle length of one month. Events modelled include myocardial infarction, stroke, heart failure, amputation and death. Model outputs include counts of events, lifetime healthcare costs and quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs). We then used the model to calculate the number of events that could be averted if a population with type 2 diabetes achieved treatment targets for HbA1c, blood pressure and LDL-cholesterol for 10 years. Results Bringing all 60-year-olds with type 2 diabetes into target for 10 years would result in annual event reductions of 87.0 per 100,000 person-years for myocardial infarction, 49.4 for stroke, and 166.8 for heart failure. QALYs would improve by 1,155 per 100,000 patients. For 75-year-olds, annual event reductions would be 178.2, 56.8 and 261.6 per 100,000 person-years, respectively, and QALYs would improve by 2,121 per 100,000 patients. Conclusions Population-level real-world data can be used to develop microsimulation models for type 2 diabetes that estimate long-term event risks, mortality and healthcare costs. This model is capable of comparative effectiveness and cost-effectiveness analysis of novel therapies in diabetes.

Aluminum Hybrid Metal Matrix Composites (Al-HMMCs) are contemporary materials that blend aluminum with additional reinforcing elements to enhance their mechanical, thermal, and other properties. These materials find applications across various sectors including the aerospace industry, automotive sector, military and defence, marine industry, as well as manufacturing industries. In this research, AA6061, zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) and boron carbide (B4C) have been selected as the matrix and reinforcement materials. AA6061/ZrO2/B4C (Al-HMMCs) is manufactured using Ultrasonic-assisted stir casting. The process parameters of ultrasonic assisted stir casting were optimized with the help of Taguchi optimization technique. The melting temperature (700, 750 and 800 ºC), stirring speed (10, 15 and 20 minutes) and AA6061/xwt.%B4C/xwt.%ZrO2 ( 6, 8 and 10) are selected as input parameters for optimization. The reinforcements ZrO2 and B4C are weighed by equally sharing by wt.% The micro hardness was selected as response parameter and it was determined by using Vickers micro hardness tester. The L9 Orthogonal Array (OA) was employed for optimization of input parameters of ultrasonic assisted stir casting. Taguchi results showed that medium level of melting temperature (750 ºC), higher level of stirring speed (300 rpm), lower level of stirring duration (10 minutes) and medium level of wt.% of ZrO2 and B4C (8wt.%) were the optimized combination of input process parameters of ultrasonic assisted stir casting for fabricating AA6061 HMMC. The AA6061/xwt.%B4C/xwt.%ZrO2 (x = 0,4,6,8 and 10) HMMCs were manufactured by utilizing optimized process parameters. The micro hardness of AA6061/xwt.%B4C/xwt.%ZrO2 (x = 0,4,6,8 and 10) was determined. . From the obtained hardness tests, it was observed that the hardness of AA6061 HMMCs was enhanced up to addition of 8wt. % of B4C and ZrO2 and decreased the hardness while adding 10wt.% of B4C and ZrO2. The better AA6061/8wt.%ZrO2/8wt.%B4C HMMC undergone X-ray Diffraction Analysis (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) testing to identify elements and examine the microstructure. The high peak of ZrO2, B4C and Al was obtained in 71.4, 35.68 and 37.81 2 theta values respectively. The SEM image of ultrasonic aided stir cast AA6061 based composite was confirmed the uniform distribution of zirconium di oxide and boron carbide reinforcements. There was no oxide formation on the surface of the stir casted AA6061 composites due to the execution of casting process in the inert environment. The casted AA6061/8wt.%ZrO2/8wt.%B4C surface of the composite exhibits no porosity occurrence due to the impact of usage of ultrasonic vibrator to prevent the formation of holes due to escape of unwanted gases. Subsequently, corrosion tests were conducted on the AA6061 HMMC in various corrosive environments such as NaOH, HCl, H2SO4, and NaCl to evaluate its electrochemical behavior. The surfaces of corroded specimens were analyzed using SEM and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS). The research findings indicate that AA6061 composites exhibit the highest corrosion resistance when immersed in a NaCl medium. This enhanced resistance was attributed to the medium's lower corrosion potential, stronger charge transfer resistance (Rct), and lower double-layer capacitance (Cdl) compared to alternative environments. Additionally, SEM analysis illustrated that the incorporation of B4C and ZrO2 ceramics results in the formation of protective barrier layers, further enhanced their corrosion resistance. ZrO2 particles were attracted and neutralized the corrosive ions and electrons, thereby reducing corrosive activity on the AA6061 aluminium matrix.

El presente trabajo abordó el modo en el que el fotoperiodismo ha capturado y expuesto los procesos de desindustrialización y despoblación, transformando la percepción de las cuencas hulleras del norte peninsular. A través de los estudios estéticos y la semiótica visual fue revisado el trabajo de ocho fotoperiodistas que documentaron la transición de la región hacia paisajes marcados por el abandono y la ruina. Los resultados obtenidos evidenciaron cómo imágenes de esta naturaleza generaron cambios en los imaginarios urbanos, fomentando dialécticas de decadencia y nostalgia, aunque también de resistencia y reflexión. Este trabajo subraya el rol del fotoperiodismo en la construcción de discursos visuales sobre la identidad regional y la transformación urbana en la era contemporánea.

The present study investigates S. cumini seed extracts which are considered as a promising and valuable source of bioactive compounds were prepared using different solvents such as methanol, ethanol, petroleum ether, acetone, chloroform, and diethyl ether. Among these solvents, methanol exhibited the highest extraction with a yield of 42 %. HPLC analysis revealed the highest concentration of quercetin flavonoids (49.62 mg/gm) in the methanolic S. cumini seed extract. Thus, the current work deals with the MgONPs synthesis through a biological approach using different S. cumini seed extracts. In vitro anti-oxidant properties were evaluated, which showed an IC50 value of 22.46 μg/mL for MgONPs synthesized from methanolic extract, surpassing the anti-oxidant potency of ascorbic acid by threefold. By leveraging the rich repository of bioactive compounds found within S. cumini seed extract, this study presents a novel approach to MgONPs synthesis. Exploring the symbiotic relationship between S. cumini seed extract and MgONPs, this research elucidates the pivotal role of bioactive compounds in guiding the formation and properties of nanostructures. Further anti-microbial studies on MgONPs from methanolic S. cumini seed extract were conducted against four different bacterial strains (Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, and S. typhimurium), revealing potent anti-microbial activity with 5.3 mm of inhibition for 100 µl against S. typhimurium. These findings suggest that S. cumini is a source of bioactive compounds responsible for the successful synthesis of MgONPs. Characterization studies of MgONPs were also carried out using UV–vis spectroscopy, FTIR, SEM, XRD, DSC and HPLC.

The nineteenth century bore witness to a remarkable proliferation of reconstructive literature in Europe, based on procedures originally described in India and Italy. Despite the publication of a successful forehead flap in England in 1816, texts exclusively dedicated to the field of plastic surgery were relatively scarce in the English-speaking world. The authors sought to identify the first English textbook entirely devoted to plastic surgery. A comprehensive examination was undertaken, spanning various databases encompassing medical, medical humanities and historical domains (PubMed, MEDLINE, Web of Science, Anthropology, JSTOR, Encyclopedia of Ancient History), as well as an extensive perusal of materials housed in the State Library of Victoria, the University of Melbourne and the HathiTrust Digital Library. The scope of this search was confined to publications predating Harold Gillies' influential 1920 textbook. Within this vast literary landscape, an Australian surgeon named William Moore emerged as a figure of notable significance, authoring the first textbook of plastic surgery in English in 1899. Moore's legacy as a pioneering surgeon ahead of his era is undeniable. Yet, various factors conspired to obscure his rightful place in the annals of surgical history.

The background of this research is the importance of knowing the profile of students’ affective ability during learning so that the teaching and learning process can be successful. This study aims to describe the profile of the affective abilities of elementary school students in natural science learning in terms of their learning styles. This research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological type, with data collection techniques through observation and interviews. The subjects in this study were six students, namely two students with a visual learning style, two with an auditory learning style, and two with a kinesthetic learning style. The result showed that 1) The profile of affective ability of students with visual learning style is two indicators of affective ability, namely indicators of receiving and appreciating, 2) The profile of students’ affective ability with auditory learning styles is three indicators of abilities, namely indicators of receiving, responding and organizing, 3) The profile of affective ability of students with kinesthetic learning style is that no affective ability indicators are met. The conclusion of this research is to know the profile of the affective ability of elementary school students in science learning in terms of different learning styles.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are structured for monitoring an area with distributed sensors and built-in batteries. However, most of their battery energy is consumed during the data transmission process. In recent years, several methodologies, like routing optimization, topology control, and sleep scheduling algorithms, have been introduced to improve the energy efficiency of WSNs. This study introduces a novel method based on a deep learning approach that utilizes variational autoencoders (VAEs) to improve the energy efficiency of WSNs by compressing transmission data. The VAE approach is customized in this work for compressing WSN data by retaining its important features. This is achieved by analyzing the statistical structure of the sensor data rather than providing a fixed-size latent representation. The performance of the proposed model is verified using a MATLAB simulation platform, integrating a pre-trained variational autoencoder model with openly available wireless sensor data. The performance of the proposed model is found to be satisfactory in comparison to traditional methods, like the compressed sensing technique, lightweight temporal compression, and the autoencoder, in terms of having an average compression rate of 1.5572. The WSN simulation also indicates that the VAE-incorporated architecture attains a maximum network lifetime of 1491 s and suggests that VAE could be used for compression-based transmission using WSNs, as its reconstruction rate is 0.9902, which is better than results from all the other techniques.

Rosa davurica Pall. is widely used in traditional oriental herbal therapy, but its components and molecular mechanisms of action remain unclear. This study investigates the antidiabetic potential of Rosa davurica Pall. root extract (RDR) and elucidates its underlying molecular mechanisms with in vitro and in vivo models. Data from the current study show that RDR exhibits strong antioxidant activity and glucose homeostasis regulatory effects. It significantly impacts glucose homeostasis in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells by inhibiting α-glucosidase activity. Further molecular mechanistic studies revealed that RDR promoted glucose uptake by phosphorylation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)/acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC), but not Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI 3-kinase)/Akt in C2C12 skeletal muscle cells. These actions increased the expression and translocation of glucose transporter type 4 (GLUT4) to the plasma membrane. In addition, RDR treatment in the STZ-induced diabetic rats remarkably improved the low body weight, polydipsia, polyphagia, hyperglycemia, and islet architecture and increased the insulin/glucose ratio. The liver (ALT and AST) and kidney marker enzyme (BUN and creatinine) levels were restored by RDR treatment as well. Phytochemical analysis identified eight major constituents in RDR, crucial for its antioxidant and antidiabetic activity. Through the molecular docking of representative glucose transporter GLUT4 with these compounds, it was confirmed that the components of RDR had a significantly high binding score in terms of structural binding. These findings from the current study highlight the antidiabetic effects of RDR. Collectively, our data suggest that RDR might be a potential pharmaceutical natural product for diabetic patients.

The detection, characterization, and monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 recombinant variants constitute a challenge for public health authorities worldwide. Recombinant variants, composed of two or more SARS-CoV-2 lineages, often have unknown impacts on transmission, immune escape, and virulence in the early stages of emergence. We examined 4213 SARS-CoV-2 recombinant SARS-CoV-2 genomes collected between 2020 and 2022 in California to describe regional and statewide trends in prevalence. Many of these recombinant genomes, such as those belonging to the XZ lineage or novel recombinant lineages, likely originated within the state of California. We discuss the challenges and limitations surrounding Pango lineage assignments, the use of publicly available sequence data, and adequate sample sizes for epidemiologic analyses. Although these challenges will continue as SARS-CoV-2 sequencing volumes decrease globally, this study enhances our understanding of SARS-CoV-2 recombinant genomes to date while providing a foundation for future insights into emerging recombinant lineages.

Objective To assess the impact of scaling up of kangaroo mother care (KMC) on neonatal mortality among babies born with birth weight

The discipline of music therapy is practiced differently across the globe and over the years, in all regions of the world, the number of music therapy training programs has expanded. As such, there is a need to reflect on the differences between education and training programs, which vary according to the local culture, educational needs, theoretical background, and scope, among others. Music therapists work in a variety of environments including hospitals, community centres, regular or special education schools, speciality clinics, private practice, and long-term care homes, etc. Music therapists are tasked with navigating policies in their workplaces and balancing the needs of their clients/consumers/service users. This article written together by educators and a student aims to present brief highlights of the work of the authors whose collaboration resulted in a presentation at the European Congress of Music Therapy in June 2022. This presentation focused on the challenges and issues faced by the discipline of music therapy and health in general, based on the analysis of systemic issues in education and training, social issues, and significant issues such as multiculturalism, equity, and race around the world. These were identified as important issues for the authors who desired to raise awareness on these topics to further open ongoing dialogue. Our aim is to contribute to the establishment of dialogues between music therapy educators, allied health professionals, researchers, and students for the implementation of new courses and the updating of existing programs, expanding views on possible music therapy interventions in contemporary times. Tras la entrada de Colombia en los circuitos mundiales del turismo, el ejemplo de la ciudad de Medellín se ha convertido en un caso paradigmático de cambios en la imagen y la idea de ciudad a través del marketing urbano. En este contexto, el presente estudio se ha centrado en la utilización de la imagen femenina como polo de atracción de turistas y exportación del producto urbano. La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo principal abordar el uso sistemático de la imagen femenina como recurso publicitario en la promoción de la ciudad de Medellín. A nivel metodológico, fue utilizado el ángulo cualitativo de las políticas afectivas de la imagen y su influencia en la construcción de imaginarios urbanos. Para ello fue elaborado y examinado un corpus de imágenes, discursos y datos recabados a través del trabajo de campo y la búsqueda virtual en redes sociales, foros, periódicos digitales o páginas web asociadas al turismo. Los resultados obtenidos revelan datos esclarecedores sobre la existencia de dos estrategias básicas en el marketing urbano de Medellín: feminización y sexualización urbana. Ambas han tenido un importante coste social, desencadenando consecuencias preocupantes respecto a la situación de vulnerabilidad y violencia urbana a la que han llevado a las mujeres de la ciudad.

Aortic regurgitation (AR) is not the most common valvular disease; however, its prevalence increases with age, with more than 2% of those aged >70 years having at least moderate AR. Once symptoms related to AR develop, the prognosis becomes poor. Transcatheter aortic valve implantation for patients with pure severe AR and at prohibitive surgical risk is occasionally performed, but remains a clinical challenge due to absence of valvular calcium, large aortic root and increased stroke volume. These issues make the positioning and deployment of transcatheter aortic valve implantation devices unpredictable, with a tendency to prosthesis embolisation or malposition. To date, the only two dedicated transcatheter valves for AR are the J-Valve (JC Medical) and the JenaValve (JenaValve Technology). Both devices have been used successfully via the transapical approach. The transfemoral experience is limited to first-in-human publications and to a clinical trial dedicated to AR, for which the completion date is still pending.

Due to a lack of efficient measures for dealing with food waste at many levels, including food supply chains, homes, and restaurants, the world’s food supply is shrinking at an alarming pace. In both homes and restaurants, overcooking and other factors are to be blamed for the majority of food that is wasted. Families are the primary source of food waste, and we sought to reduce this by identifying fresh and damaged food. In agriculture, the detection of rotting fruits becomes crucial. Despite the fact that people routinely classify healthy and rotten fruits, fruit growers find it ineffective. In contrast to humans, robots do not grow tired from doing the same thing again and again. Because of this, finding faults in fruits is a declared objective of the agricultural business in order to save labour, waste, manufacturing costs, and time spent on the process. An infected apple may infect a healthy one if the defects are not discovered. Food waste is more likely to occur as a consequence of this, which causes several problems. Input images are used to identify healthy and deteriorated fruits. Various fruits were employed in this study, including apples, bananas, and oranges. For classifying photographs into fresh and decaying fruits, softmax is used, while CNN obtains fruit image properties. A dataset from Kaggle was used to evaluate the suggested model’s performance, and it achieved a 97.14 percent accuracy rate. The suggested CNN model outperforms the current methods in terms of performance.

The aluminium metal matrix composites (AMMCs) are preferred in automotive and aerospace industries for higher strength, weight ratio, good corrosion resistance, and also better tribological properties. This study proposed that the AA7075 alloy methodology was enhanced by stir casting with titanium diboride (TiB2) particles at different percentages (5, 10, and 15 wt. %). The preheated titanium diboride powder is spread to the molten state AA7075 at 870°C to provide good weight resistance and delivery. The prepared composites are evaluated by wear analysis, tensile properties, hardness range, and microstructural behavior studies. Pin-on-disk and Rockwell hardness tester were used to analyze the wear behaviour and hardness level. The tensile strength and hardness have defined the strength of the proposed composite while the addition of TiB2 particles improves the hardness and tensile stress. The findings showed that adding TiB2 particles in the Al7075 matrix strengthened all properties compared to the Al7075 matrix. The scanning electron microscope and EDS were used to analyze the eroded surface and chemical composition of composites.

Abstract: As the adult hematology and oncology fellowship training pathways have merged in the United States and concerns have arisen about the aging of practicing hematologists, the American Society of Hematology and hematology education leaders are looking to improve their understanding of the factors that contribute to fellows' plans to enter hematology-only careers. With the support of the American Society of Hematology, we collected and analyzed data from a survey of hematology/oncology fellows (n = 626) to examine the relationship between training and mentorship experiences and fellows' plans to enter hematology-only careers. Fellows who planned to enter hematology-only careers were significantly more likely to report having clinical training and mentorship experiences in hematology throughout their training relative to fellows with oncology-only or combined hematology/oncology career plans. After controlling for prior interest in hematology and demographic characteristics, exposure to hematology patients in medical school and fellowship, hematology research experiences, and hematology mentorship (research collaboration and career coaching) were positively and significantly associated with hematology-only career plans. These findings suggest that increasing opportunities for exposure to hematology patients, research opportunities and mentors throughout training could be helpful in building a strong pipeline of potential hematologists.

Abstract: The current demand for adult hematologists in the United States is projected to exceed the existing supply. However, no national study has systematically evaluated factors affecting the adult hematology workforce. In collaboration with the American Society of Hematology (ASH), we performed a mixed methods study consisting of surveys from the annual ASH In-Service Exam for adult hematology/oncology fellows from 2010 to 2016 (8789 participants); interviews with graduating or recently graduated adult hematology/oncology fellows in a single training program (8 participants); and 3 separate focus groups for hematology/oncology fellowship program directors (12 participants), fellows (12 participants), and clinicians (10 participants) at the 2016 ASH annual meeting. In surveys, the majority of fellows favored careers combining hematology and oncology, with more fellows identifying oncology, rather than hematology, as their primary focus. In interviews with advanced-year fellows, mentorship emerged as the single most important career determinant, with mentorship opportunities arising serendipitously, and oncology faculty perceived as having greater availability for mentorship than hematology faculty. In focus group discussions, hematology, particularly benign hematology, was viewed as having poorer income potential, research funding, job availability, and job security than oncology. Focus group participants invariably agreed that the demand for clinical care in hematology, particularly benign hematology, exceeded the current workforce supply. Single-subspecialty fellowship training in hematology and the creation of new clinical care models were offered as potential solutions to these workforce problems. As a next step, ASH is conducting a national, longitudinal study of the adult hematology workforce to improve recruitment and retention in the field.

Objectives Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC), prolonged skin-to-skin care of the low birth weight baby with the mother plus exclusive breastfeeding reduces neonatal mortality. Global KMC coverage is low. This study was conducted to develop and evaluate context-adapted implementation models to achieve improved coverage.Design This study used mixed-methods applying implementation science to develop an adaptable strategy to improve implementation. Formative research informed the initial model which was refined in three iterative cycles. The models included three components: (1) maximising access to KMC-implementing facilities, (2) ensuring KMC initiation and maintenance in facilities and (3) supporting continuation at home postdischarge.Participants 3804 infants of birth weight under 2000 g who survived the first 3 days, were available in the study area and whose mother resided in the study area.Main outcome measures The primary outcomes were coverage of KMC during the 24 hours prior to discharge and at 7 days postdischarge.Results Key barriers and solutions were identified for scaling up KMC. The resulting implementation model achieved high population-based coverage. KMC initiation reached 68%–86% of infants in Ethiopian sites and 87% in Indian sites. At discharge, KMC was provided to 68% of infants in Ethiopia and 55% in India. At 7 days postdischarge, KMC was provided to 53%–65% of infants in all sites, except Oromia (38%) and Karnataka (36%).Conclusions This study shows how high coverage of KMC can be achieved using context-adapted models based on implementation science. They were supported by government leadership, health workers’ conviction that KMC is the standard of care, women’s and families’ acceptance of KMC, and changes in infrastructure, policy, skills and practice.Trial registration numbers ISRCTN12286667; CTRI/2017/07/008988; NCT03098069; NCT03419416; NCT03506698.

Background: The decision to modify the cardiovascular risk factors remains with the individuals and in order to modify their lifestyle, the individual should be aware and able to perceive them as ‘risk factors’. This study was conducted to determine the level of awareness among relatives of patients diagnosed to have CAD Methodology: Cross-sectional study design was used and the study population included family members of all the CAD patients attending the outpatient clinic of the hospital between the years 2011 - 2012. A total of 291 relatives participated in the study. The data collected through pilot pre-tested questionnaire. Results: Stress (92.8%) and hypertension (91.8%) were the highest aware risk factor among the family members. Awareness for non-modifiable risk factors such as age (63.2%) and family history of CAD (60.8%) was poor compare to other. A majority of the family members were aware about four symptoms of CAD such as tightening of the chest, chest pain, sweating, and shortness of breath. Conclusion: Our hypothesis that relatives of patients with known CAD would have more knowledge of risk factors was confirmed by the data and this increased awareness in the present study could be due to the fact that recently more emphasis is being given to non-communicable diseases.

Malachite green adsorption from an aqueous solution onto activated Enteromorpha carbon has been studied experimentally using batch adsorption method. Adsorption kinetics and equilibrium were investigated as a function of initial dye concentration, pH, contact time and adsorbent dosage. Kinetics studies indicated that the adsorption followed pseudo second order reaction. Equilibrium data was analyzed using Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. The adsorption capacity of Enteromorpha was found to be 94.74%. On the basis of experimental results and the model parameters, it can be inferred that the carbonaceous Enteromorpha is effective for the removal of malachite green from aqueous solution.

Investigations on the accumulation of heavy metals (Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn, Co, Pb, Cd and Ni) in water, sediments and fish (Mugil cephalus) using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer at Poompuhar coast, lying along the southeast coast of India was studied before and after tsunami. Accumulation of heavy metals was observed in the order of Sediments > Fish > Water. In water, the order was found to be Mn > Fe > Zn > Cu > Ni > Cd > Co > Pb; Mn recorded a maximum of 506.9µ. L-1 and Pb recorded a minimum of 0.006µ. L-1 . In sediments, the order was Mn > Fe > Cu > Zn > Pb ≈Co ≈Cd ≈ Ni; Mn recorded a maximum of 851.1µg.g-1 and a minimum of below detectable levels were found in Pb, Co, Cd and Ni. In fish, the order was found to be Fe > Zn > Mn > Cu > Ni > Co ≈ Pb ≈ Cd; Fe recorded a maximum of 529.13 µg. g-1 and a minimum of below detectable levels were found in Pb and Cd.

We present a 31-year-old female with repaired tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) and right-sided aortic arch (RAA) with left-sided patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) originating from the left brachiocephalic artery. This is a rare finding but most common site for a PDA in TOF and a RAA. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of this rare finding on MRI in the literature.

This paper presents operational floating current conveyor (OFCC) based single input four output current mode filter. It employs only three OFCCs and two grounded capacitors and resistors each. The MOS based grounded resistors implementation is used, which adds feature of electronic tunability to the filter parameters. The filter also enjoys low component spread and low sensitivity performance. The effect of finite transimpedance and parasites of OFCC on the proposed circuit is also analyzed. The functionality of the proposed circuit is demonstrated through SPICE simulations using 0.5 µm CMOS process model provided by MOSIS (AGILENT).

Ethnicities within Black populations have not been distinguished in most nutrition studies. We sought to examine dietary differences between African Americans (AA) and Haitian Americans (HA) with and without type 2 diabetes using the Healthy Eating Index, 2005 (HEI-05), and the Alternate Healthy Eating Index (AHEI). The design was cross-sectional 𝑁=471 (225 AA, 246 HA) and recruitment was by community outreach. The eating indices were calculated from data collected with the Harvard food-frequency questionnaire. Abstract Industrial IoT (IIoT) applications are widely used in multiple use cases to automate the industrial environment. Industry 4.0 presents challenges in numerous areas, including heterogeneous data, efficient data sensing and collection, real‐time data processing, and higher request arrival rates, due to the massive amount of industrial data. Building a time‐sensitive network that supports the voluminous and dynamic IoT traffic from heterogeneous applications is complex. Therefore, the authors provide insights into the challenges of industrial networks and propose a strategy for enhanced traffic management. An efficient multivariate forecasting model that adapts the Multivariate Singular Spectrum Analysis is employed for an SDN‐based IIoT network. The proposed method considers multiple traffic flow parameters, such as packet sent and received, flow bytes sent and received, source rate, round trip time, jitter, packet arrival rate and flow duration to predict future flows. The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively predict by contemplating every possible variation in the observed samples and predict average load, delay, inter‐packet arrival rate and source sending rate with improved accuracy. The forecast results shows reduced error estimation when compared with existing methods with Mean Absolute Percentage Error of 1.64%, Mean Squared Error of 11.99, Root Mean Squared Error of 3.46 and Mean Absolute Error of 2.63.

Electric vehicles have seen substantial growth in recent years in the emerging economies of the world. The current market scenario of E-vehicles is dominated by PMSM or BLDC motors due to their higher torque-to-power density, and efficiency with added performance metrics of the motor. However, the higher capital cost of permanent magnets makes the motor designers to consider an alternative to magnetic motors, the so-called Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM). With proper FEM analysis and controller design, if SRMs can able to achieve the performance metrics of a PMSM/BLDC, it will be a breakthrough in the automotive sector with affordable prices. Based on the aforementioned facts, this research work focuses on SRM as a viable alternative to the existing PMSM/BLDC motor. The work concentrates on the design and development of an 8/6 SRM for a Tri-wheeler E-vehicle application. The designed motor is fabricated, tested and controlled by WAVECT, an FPGA-based real-time digital controller which is used to control the commutation of the 8/6 SRM. The yielded response satisfactorily proves that the designed 8/6 SRM can be effectively used for the Tri-wheeler E-vehicle application, thereby paving the way for sustainable energy conservation in the automotive sector.

The indoor radon and thoron measurements were carried out at Sri Renga Narayana Puram village, Tirunelveli district, Tamil Nadu, which is located nearer to the Nuclear Power Plant, Kudankulam. The survey was performed using a single-entry pin-hole dosimeter with a solid-state nuclear track detector for a period of 90 days. In the present study, the radon and thoron levels have been measured initially for 10 residences using LR-115 Type II films as a detector. The dose assessment due to radon and thoron is calculated. The effective dose of radon and thoron in the corresponding residences has been found to vary from 0.516 to 0.660 mSvy−1 and 0.010 to 0.144 mSvy−1. The total effective dose due to radon and thoron has been calculated which found to vary from 0.545 to 0.791 mSvy−1 with an average value of 0.655 mSvy−1.

Background and Study Aim. Vertical jump performance is crucial for athletes in many sports. However, the optimal techniques for maximizing jump height and efficiency for both students and professional soccer players require more effective solutions. This study aimed to investigate the influence of various vertical jump techniques, focusing on arm swing and elastic force utilization, and to evaluate the extent of the impact that each modification has on biomechanical characteristics and performance outcomes. Materials and methods. Ten first-grade Sport Science students and ten professional soccer players from F.C. Malisevo participated in the study. The participants performed a series of jumps, including the Countermovement Jump (CMJ), Squat Jump (SJ), and Abalakov jump (ABL), while being recorded on an iPhone 13 Pro at 240 frames per second. Data analysis was conducted using the My Jump 3 app and SPSS 26 software. Descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA were employed for comparative analysis. The Independent Samples T-test was used to compare differences in jump performance between the groups. Results. Significant differences in jump performance and force production were observed between SP and PES, with professional athletes demonstrating superior neuromuscular capabilities and better utilization of elastic energy. However, within each group, no significant differences were found between the different jump techniques, suggesting that arm swing and elastic force contribute similarly to overall jump height. Arm swing contributed 11.0% to jump performance in PES and 12.0% in SP, while the influence of elastic force stored in tendons during the eccentric phase was 7.0% in PES and 6.0% in SP. Conclusions. Specialized training significantly enhances jump performance, as evidenced by differences in CMJ, SJ, and ABL between SP and PES. Arm swing and elastic force utilization play crucial roles in vertical jumping, with professional athletes potentially leveraging arm mechanics more effectively. The study validates the reliability of the My Jump 3 app for measuring jump performance across diverse athletic backgrounds.

Background: The aim of this study was to assess cytological alterations of the squamous epithelium of the alveolar ridge mucosal surface under the acrylate prosthesis in T2D patients. Methods and Results: The subjects of interest were patients in whom the total acrylate prosthesis had been applied 3-5 years or more prior to the examination. The subjects were divided into two groups: 30 adult subjects with T2D (T2D group) and 30 adult subjects without T2D (control group). Both groups were over 49 years of age. Cytological smears were obtained by cytobrush from the mucosal surface of the gingival crest underlying the acrylate prosthesis. The following parameters were assessed: type of cells (basal, intermediate, superficial, superficial without nucleus, and parakeratotic), proportions of the types of cells, cytoplasmic diameter, nuclear diameter, and nucleus-to-cytoplasm ratio. An independent sample t-test was used to compare the two study groups. The percentage of superficial cells was significantly lower in the T2D group than in the control group (P=0.001). The T2D group tended to have a higher rate of parakeratotic cells (13.0±11.12 vs. 8.07±7.92, P=0.052). Superficial cells in the T2D group had a significantly lower mean cytoplasmic diameter than the control group (32.7947±8.61929 µ vs. 36.6383±4.32228 µ, P=0.03). Additionally, the nucleus-to-cytoplasm ratio of intermediate and superficial cells in the T2D group was significantly higher than in the control group (0.2407±0.07206 vs. 0.2000±o.03291, P=0.007 and 0.2573±0.06330 vs. 0.2280±0.03178, P=0.027). Conclusion: The results of our study show that total acrylate prostheses in diabetic patients are responsible for the disrupted maturation of squamous epithelial cells. This is reflected in smaller superficial cells, increased parakeratosis, and the higher nucleus-to-cytoplasm ratio of intermediate and superficial cells.

The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of resin infiltration and bifluoride varnish in white spot lesions (WSLs) in children between the ages of 8 and 15. Methods and Results: This study was conducted at Alma Mater Europaea Campus College "Rezonanca" (Pristina, Kosovo) and enrolled 60 participants (34 females and 26 males) between the ages of 8 and 15 years with WSLs in the vestibular surface on permanent anterior teeth. The participants were randomly assigned to the resin infiltration (Icon®) group (Group 1, n=30) and the bifluoride varnish (F&A Biflu) group (Group 2, n=30). Both materials were applied on permanent anterior teeth with WSLs in enamel. WSLs were assessed using ICDAS-II (International Caries Detection and Assessment System) criteria by visual inspection, which were coded as 1 and 2. Lesions were evaluated before the material was applied (T0), just after application (T1), and at a 6-month follow-up (T2). A total of 173 teeth from 60 participants were included in our study. Group 1 showed a significant decrease in ICDAS-II scores throughout time intervals T0-T1 (P=0.001), T0-T2 (P=0.001), and T1-T2 (P=0.041). In Group 2, there was no visible difference between T0-T1 (P=1.00) but a significant decrease between T0-T2 (P=0.001) and T1-T2 (P=0.001). Comparisons between the two groups in relation to T0, T1, and T2 were analyzed using the independent samples t-test. Significant differences have been presented in two cases at T1 (P=0.001) and T2 (P=0.003). ICDAS-II scores decreased significantly in Group 1. Conclusion: The application of RI in WSLs was found to be more effective than the application of BFV. While the effects of BFV in WSLs persisted over time, the effect of RI was evident as soon as WSLs were treated. Moving forward, we recommend considering RI as a favorable option for WSL treatment. Future studies with long-term follow-ups are necessary to corroborate these results.

Abstract Background Seaweeds contain a widespread range of fatty acids (FA), and several of them have potential bioactivity. FAs are dynamic members of all biota, as well as being acknowledged for their critical function in initiating phytohormone interactions and acting as important participants in many defense signalling pathways of the plant system. The current study looks at the defense-eliciting potentials of fatty acids from the green seaweed Chaetomorpha antennina (Bory) Kützing and their impact on the polyphagous insect pest Spodoptera litura (Fab). Results The seaweed was detected with 19 fatty acids, with larger proportion of hexa and octadecanoic and linoleic acids. The algal fatty acid compounds (CFA) were successful in eliciting salicylic acid and phenolic compounds biosynthesis along with defense enzymes peroxidase (PO) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO). CFA enhanced the synthesis of defense enzymes, PO and PPO and phenols, post infestation with S. litura (> 50%) compared to control plants exposed to the pest. CFA was also effective in causing direct mortalities (96–98%) to the larvae (II-V instars). S. litura larvae exposed to elicited tomato plants displayed physiological incursions that extended larval-pupal duration to 26–28 days, preventing both morphogenetic transitions as well as affecting their morphology, that lead to the emergence of adults with malformed wings, legs. As a consequence, the fecundity was reduced by 60% affecting the reproductive performances of second-generation adults. The consumption rate (RCR) of larvae exposed to CFA was decreased by 84%, depicting feeding deterrence. These larvae were also observed with > 50% reduction in the levels of phosphatase enzyme secretion, bringing down larval growth rate from 0.58 to 0.34 mg/day. Histological analysis of exposed larvae displayed midgut cell disruption. Conclusion Hence, the study finally confirms the elicitor potentials of fatty acid compounds from C. antennina, by inducing natural systemic defenses. This investigation unlocks novel forecasts besides delivering an unconventional method for crop protection to moderate or interchange the solicitation of chemical pesticides. Graphical Abstract

Pleural effusion is a common problem in our country, and most of these patients need invasive tests as they can’t be evaluated by blood tests alone. The simplest of them is diagnostic pleural aspiration, and diagnostic techniques such as medical thoracoscopy are being performed more frequently than ever before. However, most physicians in India treat pleural effusion empirically, leading to delays in diagnosis, misdiagnosis and complications from wrong treatments. This situation must change, and the adoption of evidence-based protocols is urgently needed. Furthermore, the spectrum of pleural disease in India is different from that in the West, and yet Western guidelines and algorithms are used by Indian physicians. Therefore, India-specific consensus guidelines are needed. To fulfil this need, the Indian Chest Society and the National College of Chest Physicians; the premier societies for pulmonary physicians came together to create this National guideline. This document aims to provide evidence based recommendations on basic principles, initial assessment, diagnostic modalities and management of pleural effusions.

Menurut letak geografisnya, Indonesia termasuk wilayah rawan terhadap gempa, karena berada di atas pertemuan tiga lempeng, yaitu Eurasia, Pasifik, dan Indo-Australia yang setiap saat dapat saling bertubrukan sehingga menghasilkan gempa tektonik. Dengan adanya kejadian gempa di Indonesia, mengakibatkan kerugian yang sangat besar bagi bangunan, maka dari itu diperlukan pengembangan analisis gempa terhadap struktur. Analisis respon spektrum merupakan salah satu metode yang digunakan dalam laporan ini, dengan cara menganalisa hubungan antara periode struktur bangunan dengan cara menganalisa hubungan antara periode struktur bangunan dengan nilai percepatan bangunan ketika terkena gempa. Penelitian ini menggunakan objek Gedung IGD Terpadu K.R.M.T Wongsonegoro Semarang, yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat keamanan gedung akibat beban gempa menurut SNI perencanaan ketahanan gempa 1726;2019 dengan nilai base shear, displacement, dan, story drift, menggunakan program ETABS V.20. Hasil analisis Gedung IGD Terpadu K.R.M.T Wongsonegoro Semarang dinyatakan aman dengan base shear dinamik respons spektrum lebih dari 100% gempa static. Untuk maximal displacement diperoleh nilai 15,87 mm pada arah X dan 19,08 mm pada arah Y, dan untuk Maximum story drift diperoleh nilai 21,64 mm pada arah X dan 25,24 mm pada arah Y sehingga gedung aman terhadap kinerja batas ultimate (0,02h)

Abstract Every nation treasures its handloom heritage, and in India, the handloom industry safeguards cultural traditions, sustains millions of artisans, and preserves ancient weaving techniques. To protect this legacy, a critical need arises to distinguish genuine handloom products, exemplified by the renowned “gamucha” from India’s northeast, from counterfeit powerloom imitations. Our study’s objective is to create an AI tool for effortless detection of authentic handloom items amidst a sea of fakes. Six deep learning architectures—VGG16, VGG19, ResNet50, InceptionV3, InceptionResNetV2, and DenseNet201—were trained on annotated image repositories of handloom and powerloom towels (17,484 images in total, with 14,020 for training and 3464 for validation). A novel deep learning model was also proposed. Despite respectable training accuracies, the pre-trained models exhibited lower performance on the validation dataset compared to our novel model. The proposed model outperformed pre-trained models, demonstrating superior validation accuracy, lower validation loss, computational efficiency, and adaptability to the specific classification problem. Notably, the existing models showed challenges in generalizing to unseen data and raised concerns about practical deployment due to computational expenses. This study pioneers a computer-assisted approach for automated differentiation between authentic handwoven “gamucha”s and counterfeit powerloom imitations—a groundbreaking recognition method. The methodology presented not only holds scalability potential and opportunities for accuracy improvement but also suggests broader applications across diverse fabric products.

Background:. Standard breast reduction dressings such as Prineo are used to cover surgical wounds, in combination with a binder or support bra. The Prevena Restor BellaForm is a negative pressure wound therapy dressing that covers the entirety of the breast mound and is purported to provide further support and reduce swelling. The aim of this study was to compare the Restor to standard-of-care dressings. Methods:. The study was a randomized control trial of women undergoing bilateral breast reduction with one breast being dressed with the Prevena Restor BellaForm dressing and the other having standard of care (Prineo). Outcomes measured were drain outputs, postoperative length of stay, quality of scarring, patient preference for dressings, and adverse events. Follow-up was at 1, 2–6, and 26 weeks. Results:. The results show a reduction in postoperative days 1 and 2 average drain output on the Restor side compared with standard dressings. Patient-reported outcome measures showed less bruising. There was no difference in postoperative length of stay and no difference in appearance of scars at the 26-week follow-up period. One patient required removal of the dressing due to irritation and one patient required assistance with resealing of the vacuum. Conclusions:. We have shown benefits to drain output and comfort using close incisional negative pressure therapy in breast reduction mammaplasty. We plan to continue to investigate close incisional negative pressure therapy in larger comparative trials for other breast procedures including implant-based reconstruction, where a reduction in drain output could be of great benefit to both healing and reduction of infection risk.

Biofilm is an environmentally friendly plastic that is easily biodegradable. However, not all biodegradable plastics have the desired properties for packaging because they are made from renewable natural materials. The biofilm in this study was made from renewable natural raw materials that had never been used before, namely taro starch and duck bone gelatin. Mixing the two materials improve their physical properties and biodegradabilily This study was to to investigate the effect of adding duck bone gelatin 0%, 5%, 15%, 25% and 35% on physicochemical properties, namely color, oxygen permeability, and metal content (Pb and Cd) as well as biodegradability of biofilms. The method used in this research was solution casting. The results obtained from the color parameter with the highest lightness (L) value were produced in the addition of 15% of 85.26, for the highest value of color a was produced in the addition of 0%, namely 0.94, and the value of color b with the addition of 35% resulted in the highest color value of 1.67. The highest percentage of biodegradability was produced on day 14 with the addition of 35% duck bone gelatin in compost soil to produce a percentage of 100%, while for barren soil the yield was 54.54%-66.66%. Abstract Computing binding affinities is of great importance in drug discovery pipeline and its prediction using advanced machine learning methods still remains a major challenge as the existing datasets and models do not consider the dynamic features of protein-ligand interactions. To this end, we have developed PLAS-20k dataset, an extension of previously developed PLAS-5k, with 97,500 independent simulations on a total of 19,500 different protein-ligand complexes. Our results show good correlation with the available experimental values, performing better than docking scores. This holds true even for a subset of ligands that follows Lipinski’s rule, and for diverse clusters of complex structures, thereby highlighting the importance of PLAS-20k dataset in developing new ML models. Along with this, our dataset is also beneficial in classifying strong and weak binders compared to docking. Further, OnionNet model has been retrained on PLAS-20k dataset and is provided as a baseline for the prediction of binding affinities. We believe that large-scale MD-based datasets along with trajectories will form new synergy, paving the way for accelerating drug discovery.
