Purpose: Wilms' tumor (WT), also known as nephroblastoma, is the predominant form of primary malignant renal cancer. The unfavorable prognoses linked to anaplastic nephroblastoma and recurrent nephroblastoma emphasize the crucial requirement for the exploration of innovative treatment modalities for WT. Methods: Our study conducted one-way Cox regression and Kaplan-Meier analyses using TARGET-WT nephroblastoma data to identify differentially expressed genes in nephroblastoma and evaluate their prognostic relevance. Utilizing the Connectivity Map database, ZSTK474 emerged as a viable therapeutic option for WT. The effect of ZSTK474 on WT and related underlying mechanisms were further investigated through in vitro and in vivo investigations. Results: The in vivo experiment results indicated that ZSTK474 effectively inhibited subcutaneous tumor growth in WT mice. CCK-8 assays revealed two nephroblastoma cell lines exhibited half-inhibitory concentrations of 2μM and 2.51μM for ZSTK474, respectively. ZSTK474 was shown to inhibit the migration and invasion capabilities of WT cells in both Transwell and wound healing assays. Flow cytometry apoptosis and TUNEL assays demonstrated that ZSTK474 induced apoptosis in WT cells. Cell cycle analysis revealed that ZSTK474 led to the induction of G0/G1 phase arrest. Sequencing of ZSTK474-treated WiT49 cells suggested that the impact of ZSTK474 on WT might be mediated by the PI3K/Akt pathway, specifically by inhibiting PIK3R3. Knock-down of PIK3R3 confirmed that ZSTK474 downregulated PIK3R3, reducing Akt phosphorylation, cyclin D and CDK4 levels and elevating P21 expression in nephroblastoma cells. However, current research has limitations, including a lack of understanding of the long-term effects and potential resistance mechanisms of new therapies. It's a promising way to address the global freshwater crisis and energy shortage through solar‐driven devices with evaporate, degrade, and generate electricity at the same time. Low‐efficient light‐thermal conversions for multi‐usage limit application. This paper presents a low‐cost melamine foam/TiO2/carbon black/bismuth (MF/TiO2/CB/Bi) composite with excellent activity to simultaneously process photothermal water evaporation, pollutant degradation, and thermoelectric output, namely‚ shooting three birds with one stone. Under 1 sunlight light intensity, the water evaporation rate reach 4.235 kg m−2 h−1, and the maximum electric power output of a single module is 0.733 W m−2. Meanwhile, Rhodamine B (RhB) solution with 4.0 × 10−4 mol L−1 can be almost degraded within 60 min. Excellent performance benefits from the enhanced adsorption by chemicals, 3D structure for accepting more incident light, and hydrophilic group reducing evaporation enthalpy. Combined with the simulation and experiment, the relationship between heat distribution and thicknesses is studied. When less than 1.98 cm, the lateral temperature is higher than the ambient temperature, thus additional energy cannot be obtained. This work provides a facile and novel method for the construction of photothermal conversion materials with multi‐functional, as a new and useful attempt to solve the shortage of fresh water and electric energy, as well as environmental pollution. A tunable tri-band terahertz refractive index sensor based on graphene is proposed and designed. The structure of the sensor comprises a gold (Au) substrate layer, a dielectric layer (Topas), and a graphene pattern layer. The numerical simulation results demonstrate that the sensor exhibits three narrowband absorption peaks at 1.68, 3.82, and 4.78 THz, and the corresponding absorption rate can reach 99.9%, 98.0%, and 97.9%, respectively. By adjusting the Fermi level of graphene, the resonant frequency of the sensor can be effectively tuned. Notably, due to the rotational symmetry of the structure, the sensor shows insensitivity to transverse magnetic and transverse electric polarizations of incident light. By varying the refractive index of surrounding analytes, the sensor's sensitivity and Figure of Merit (FOM) are studied. The sensitivities of the three resonance peaks are 0.59, 1.19, and 1.38 THz/RIU, with corresponding FOM values of 2.57, 3.40, and 6.58, respectively. Furthermore, the feasibility and effectiveness of the designed sensor in practical applications are verified by testing five types of samples. These findings indicate that the proposed sensor has superior performance in sensitivity and selectivity, which makes it have a great potential for applications in the fields of material characterization, environmental monitoring, and biomedicine detection in the terahertz band. Clean heating transformation and photovoltaic (PV) promotion gradually have become the keys to realize dual carbon strategy goals. Based on this, the combined application of building-integrated PV (BIPV) systems and air-source heat pump (ASHP) systems has received widespread attention. However, the current combined system still presents problems such as the mismatching in time between PV output and heating load. Therefore, in this paper, a novel BIPV and ASHP coupling system is proposed, and the operation parameters were optimized using low-carbon community as an example. A conventional PV and heat pump (HP) combined system, ASHP heating, and coal-fired heating were employed as the baseline and compared with the novel system. The results show that the optimized system can improve the PV power local accommodation rate by 43% compared with a conventional PV and ASHP coupling system. In terms of economic and environmental benefits, the operating cost of the optimized system is 50% of the cost of the ASHP system. Compared with coal-fired heating system, the annual air pollutant and carbon emissions can be reduced by 92% and 57%, respectively. The system also can improve the stability of power grid operation. Purpose: To study the relationship between LARS1 expression and immune infiltration and prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Patients and Methods: The clinical characteristics together with LARS1 expression levels were obtained from the TCGA database. Immunohistochemistry confirmed LARS1 expression levels in paraneoplastic and tumor tissues. To investigate LARS1-related downstream molecules, a network of protein-protein interactions (PPIs) and the Gene Ontology (GO)/Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) were built. Furthermore, gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was used to analyze the pathways associated with LARS1 expression, whereas Single-sample GSEA (ssGSEA) was applied to perform an association study between immune infiltration and LARS1 gene expression. The TISCH Database and the TISIDB database were used to compare the difference of LARS1 expression in hepatocellular carcinoma and immunomodulators. Results: In comparison to that in normal tissues, the LARS1 expression level was elevated in tumor tissues. LARS1 expression exhibited substantial correlation with AFP, Histologic grade, pathologic stage, Residual tumor, and Vascular invasion in HCC. Higher LARS1 expression in HCC was linked to lower progression-free survival (PFS), disease-specific survival (DSS), and overall survival (OS). According to the GO/KEGG study, the important biological process (neutral lipid metabolic process), cellular component (triglyceride-rich plasma lipoprotein), molecular functions (lipase inhibitor activity), and KEGG pathway (cholesterol metabolism) could be a probable function mechanism in promoting HCC. Various pathways as per GSEA revealed that they were enriched in samples with elevated LARS1 expression. The expression level of LARS1 in malignant tumor cells after immunotherapy was significantly higher than that before immunotherapy. LARS1 was also remarkably linked to the infiltration level and the immunomodulators. Conclusion: LARS1 can be used as a biomarker of HCC, which is associated to immune infiltration of HCC. Introduction: Accumulating evidence demonstrates that aberrant methylation of enhancers is crucial in gene expression profiles across several cancers. However, the latent effect of differently expressed enhancers between INSS stage 4S and 4 neuroblastoma (NB) remains elusive. Methods: We utilized the transcriptome and methylation data of stage 4S and 4 NB patients to perform Enhancer Linking by Methylation/Expression Relationships (ELMER) analysis, discovering a differently expressed motif within 67 enhancers between stage 4S and 4 NB. Harnessing the 67 motif genes, we established the INSS stage related signature (ISRS) by amalgamating 12 and 10 distinct machine learning (ML) algorithms across 113 and 101 ML combinations to precisely diagnose stage 4 NB among all NB patients and to predict the prognosis of NB patients. Based on risk scores calculated by prognostic ISRS, patients were categorized into high and low-risk groups according to median risk score. We conducted comprehensive comparisons between two risk groups, in terms of clinical applications, immune microenvironment, somatic mutations, immunotherapy, chemotherapy and single-cell analysis. Ultimately, we empirically validated the differential expressions of two ISRS model genes, CAMTA2 and FOXD1, through immunochemistry staining. Results: Through leave-one-out cross-validation, in both feature selection and model construction, we selected the random forest algorithm to diagnose stage 4 NB, and Enet algorithm to develop prognostic ISRS, due to their highest average C-index across five NB cohorts. After validations, the ISRS demonstrated a stable predictive capability, outperforming the previously published NB signatures and several clinic variables. We stratified NB patients into high and low-risk group based on median risk score, which showed the low-risk group with a superior survival outcome, an abundant immune infiltration, a decreased mutation landscape, and an enhanced sensitivity to immunotherapy. Single-cell analysis between two risk groups reveals biologically cellular variations underlying ISRS. Finally, we verified the significantly higher protein levels of CAMTA2 and FOXD1 in stage 4S NB, as well as their protective prognosis value in NB. Conclusion: Based on multi-omics data and ML algorithms, we successfully developed the ISRS to enable accurate diagnosis and prognostic stratification in NB, which shed light on molecular mechanisms of spontaneous regression and clinical utilization of ISRS. A tunable dual-band terahertz sensor based on graphene is proposed. The sensor consists of a metal bottom layer, a middle dielectric layer, and single-layer graphene patterned with four strips on the top. The numerical simulations results show that the proposed sensor exhibits two significant absorption peaks at 2.58 THz and 6.07 THz. The corresponding absorption rates are as high as nearly 100% and 98%, respectively. The corresponding quality factor (Q) value is 11.8 at 2.58 THz and 29.6 at 6.07 THz. By adjusting the external electric field or chemical doping of graphene, the positions of the dual-frequency resonance peak can be dynamically tuned. The excitation of plasma resonance in graphene can illustrate the mechanism of the sensor. To verify the practical application of the device, the terahertz response of different kinds and different thicknesses of the analyte is investigated and analyzed. A phenomenon of obvious frequency shifts of the two resonance peaks can be observed. With a pair of high‐resolution (HR, 10 km ocean and 25 km atm) and low‐resolution (LR, 100 km ocean and 100 km atm) Community Earth System Model (CESM) simulations, we investigate and compare the long‐term mean Northern Hemisphere (NH) wintertime storm tracks against reanalysis data. Based on several Eulerian measures, the CESM‐HR shows a poleward shift of the NH storm tracks and a reduced equatorward bias in the North Pacific relative to the CESM‐LR. Those may be associated with the refined topography of the Tibetan Plateau as well as the improved subtropical jet, stationary planetary waves, atmospheric baroclinity, and baroclinic energy conversion over the North Pacific. We also find that sharper oceanic fronts along the Kuroshio Extension accompanied by enhanced local atmospheric baroclinity and strengthened eddy heat flux over the northern North Pacific could be related to those improvements. Nevertheless, the North Atlantic storm track in HR is placed too north, leading to a larger negative bias over the subtropical zone than in LR. The simulated insufficient subtropical sensible and latent heat fluxes and northward zonal winds in HR seemingly coincide with the deficits in the North Atlantic storm track. The stronger NH branch of the Hadley cell and its poleward expansion in HR may be linked to the changes in the tropical precipitation and the poleward shift of the NH storm tracks. Further studies of attributing these biases to a specific aspect of the climate model by sensitivity experiments are warranted for further clarification of the mechanisms. So, accurately representing storm tracks is crucial for climate models. This study compares and evaluates the long‐term mean Northern Hemisphere (NH) wintertime storm tracks in a pair of high‐resolution (HR) and low‐resolution (LR) climate model simulations against observations. HR shows a poleward shift of the NH storm tracks, leading to some improvements in the North Pacific relative to LR. The refined Tibetan Plateau and sea surface temperature may play a role in the improved North Pacific storm track by altering atmospheric circulations and air‐sea interactions. Nevertheless, the North Atlantic storm track is placed too north in HR, leading to a larger negative bias over the subtropical zone. The weakened upward heat and moisture fluxes and northward zonal winds are related to the deficits in the North Atlantic storm track simulation. The stronger Hadley cell and its poleward expansion in HR also show associations with the poleward shift of the NH storm tracks. Background. Long-term extensive use of glucocorticoids will lead to hormonal necrosis of the femoral head, and osteoblasts play an important role in the prevention of osteonecrosis. However, there is no complete cure for necrosis of the femoral head. Mesenchymal stem cell- (MSCs-) derived exosomes are widely used for the repair of various tissue lesions. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism of dexamethasone- (DEX-) induced osteoblast apoptosis and the therapeutic effect of human umbilical cord MSC- (hucMSC-) derived exosome mimetic vesicles (EMVs) on osteoblast-induced apoptosis by DEX. Methods. The viability and apoptosis of primary MC3T3-E1 cells were determined by the Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), FITC-Annexin V/PI staining and immunoblot. The intracellular levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) after DEX treatment were measured by 2′, 7′ -dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (DCFH-DA) staining. In this study, hucMSC-EMVs and N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC) were used as therapeutic measures. The expression of B-cell lymphoma 2-associated X, Bcl 2, HO-1, and nuclear factor erythroid-derived 2-like 2 and MAPK- signaling pathway in osteogenic cell MC3T3-E1 cells treated with Dex was analyzed by the immunoblotting. Results. DEX significantly induced osteoblasts MC3T3-E1 apoptosis and ROS accumulation. MAPK-signaling pathway was activated in MC3T3-E1 after DEX treatment. hucMSC-EMVs intervention significantly downregulated DEX-induced MAPK-signaling pathway activation and ROS accumulation. In addition, hucMSC-EMVs can reduce the apoptosis levels in osteoblast MC3T3-E1 cells induced by DEX. Conclusions. Ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complexes have drawn growing attention due to their photophysical properties and anticancer activity. Herein we report four ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complexes [(N^N)2RuII(L)]2+ (1–4, L = 4-anilinoquinazoline derivatives, N^N = bidentate ligands with bis-nitrogen donors) as multi-functional anticancer agents. The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is overexpressed in a broad range of cancer cells and related to many kinds of malignance. EGFR inhibitors, such as gefitinib and erlotinib, have been approved as clinical anticancer drugs. The EGFR-inhibiting 4-anilinoquinazoline ligands greatly enhanced the in vitro anticancer activity of these ruthenium(II) polypyridyl complexes against a series of human cancer cell lines compared to [Ru(bpy)2(phen)], but interestingly, these complexes were actually not potent EGFR inhibitors. Further mechanism studies revealed that upon irradiation with visible light, complexes 3 and 4 generated a high level of singlet oxygen (1O2), and their in vitro anticancer activities against human non-small-cell lung (A549), cervical (HeLa) and squamous (A431) cancer cells were significantly improved. Specifically, complex 3 displayed potent phototoxicity upon irradiation with blue light, of which the photo-toxicity indexes (PIs) against HeLa and A431 cells were 11 and 8.3, respectively. These complexes exhibited strong fluorescence emission at ca. 600 nm upon excitation at about 450 nm. A subcellular distribution study by fluorescence microscopy imaging and secondary ion mass spectrometry imaging (ToF-SIMS) demonstrated that complex 3 mainly localized at the cytoplasm and complex 4 mainly localized in the nuclei of cells. Competitive binding with ctDNA showed that complex 4 was more favorable to bind to the DNA minor groove than complex 3. These differences support that complex 3 possibly exerts its anticancer activities majorly by photo-induced 1O2 generation and complex 4 by binding to DNA. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Electrodynamics on curved surfaces, as a developed theory, has analogously become a new experimental verification of light transmission in general relativity. The thermal effect of an optical field on a specific 2D surface with constant Gaussian curvature is described in this paper. By considering the analogy between Schrodinger equation and Helmholtz equation under the paraxial approximation, the "quantized" momentum field is generated from the light transmitting on a curved surface by using the effective potential approach, and when decreasing the number of photons until n=0$n = 0$ is thought about, a temperature of Hawking‐like radiation is obtained. The creation process of radiation is also investigated, which is the scattering of light as it travels from a surface of positive curvature to a surface of negative curvature. The derived temperature of radiation field is also equivalent to the event horizon scattering explanation of Hawking radiation. Data analyses of long-term historical experiments using version 1.3 of the Community Earth System Model with 100 km resolution for both atmosphere and ocean (low-resolution, LR), and 25 km resolution for atmosphere and 10 km resolution for ocean (high-resolution, HR), were conducted to study the impact of model horizontal resolution on the simulation of East Asian precipitation. The features analyzed here include long-time mean spatial distribution, intra-seasonal variabilities, and probability of frequency and intensity. Due to the finer grid resolution, the better simulation of convection and water vapor transport conditions, the long-time mean spatial pattern of precipitation in the HR is much closer to the observation compared to the LR simulation, especially the rain belt along the south edge of the Tibetan Plateau associated with complex topography. Although the HR slightly improves the intra-seasonal evolution of East Asian precipitation, on the whole, the inaccurate simulation of circulation characteristics in the middle and upper troposphere amplifies the simulation bias of the rain belt position. The daily time scale precipitation was evaluated by intensity-frequency structure, indicating that the finer resolution makes the simulation more reasonable, especially in monsoon regions. Although there are aspects that need to be further improved in the HR simulation, the HR model bias in East Asian precipitation is overall smaller compared to that of the LR. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: To explore new drugs for malignant neuroblastoma, we used bioinformatics to analyze the prognostic genes, and successfully found the small molecular drug BI-D1870 based on the professional gene–drug analysis website 'Connectivity Map'. In vivo and in vitro experiments confirmed that BI-D1870 effectively inhibited the malignant proliferation of neuroblastoma. Moreover, we found that BI-D1870 mainly inhibited the mitosis of tumor cells by regulating the PI3K-Akt-mTORC1 signal axis, thereby promoting cell apoptosis and ultimately inhibiting tumor growth. This is a drug prediction method based on a combination of massive gene map analysis and clinical survival practices, which has significant accuracy advantages over single gene changes. Furthermore, this is also the first study to explore the therapeutic benefits of BI-D1870 on NB, providing a novel clinically applicable solution for the treatment of neuroblastoma. Introduction: Neuroblastoma (NB) is one of the most common extracranial solid malignant tumors in children. The 5-year survival rate of high-risk or refractory NB is less than 50%. Therefore, developing new effective therapeutics for NB remains an urgent challenge. Materials and Methods: Based on the NB dataset TARGET-NBL in the TCGA database, the prognosis-related genes were analyzed using univariate cox regression (p < 0.01). The protein network interaction of prognostic genes was analyzed using STRING to obtain 150 hub genes with HR > 1 and 150 hub genes with HR < 1. The Connectivity Map database was used to predict a therapeutic drug: BI-D1870, a ribosomal S6 kinase inhibitor. The inhibitory effect of BI-D1870 on NB was investigated through in vivo and in vitro experiments, and its inhibitory mechanism was explored. Results: Both the in vivo and in vitro experiments showed that BI-D1870 could inhibit tumor proliferation and induce tumor apoptosis. Furthermore, we proved that BI-D1870 caused G2/M phase arrest and mitosis damage in cells. RNA-seq of cells showed that BI-D1870 may inhibit the growth of NB by inhibiting the PI3K-Akt-mTOR axis. Western blot and immunofluorescence testing showed that BI-D1870 inhibited the PI3K-Akt-mTORC1 signal pathway to regulate the phosphorylation of RPS6 and 4E BP1 proteins, inhibit protein translation, and inhibit microtubule formation, thus preventing mitotic proliferation and inducing apoptosis. Large-scale physical models of landslides can potentially accurately reflect the interactions between many internal and external factors and elucidate the process of slope deformation and failure. In order to reveal the mechanism of deformation of the reservoir bank accumulation layer, in this study, a large-scale physical test model with a similarity ratio of 1:200 was constructed based on the actual engineering geological section. Two reservoir water level cycle fluctuation conditions were simulated, and the reservoir water level drop rate was strictly controlled to be two times the rise rate. This study analyzed pore water pressure and deformation characteristics in the accumulation layer in relation to fluctuating reservoir water levels. The results showed that the rise in reservoir water level will make landslides more stable. The periodic sudden drop in water level seriously endangers the stability of landslides. The deformation and failure of landslides are more likely to occur in the weak interlayer area. The failure mode of the accumulation body in the test was traction failure. It is suggested that the front part of the accumulation body can be reinforced in practical engineering. To reveal the progression of instability and movement during accumulation layer large-scale landslides, a numerical model was constructed using the material point method. The accumulation layer sliding process could be divided into three stages: acceleration sliding, deceleration sliding and stabilization. After destabilization, the river channel may be altered by the landslide mass to form a landslide dam, potentially threatening the integrity of the dam via impulse waves generated during destabilization. The research results provide technical support for reservoir scheduling in major water conservancy and hydroelectric power station reservoirs as well as engineering risk assessment and prevention. Understanding the renal region-specific metabolic alteration in different animal models of diabetic nephropathy (DN) is critical for uncovering the underlying mechanisms and for developing effective treatments. In the present study, spatially resolved metabolomics based on air flow-assisted desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry imaging (AFADESI-MSI) was used to compare the local metabolic changes in the kidneys of HFD/STZ-induced diabetic rats and db/db mice. As a result, a total of 67 and 59 discriminating metabolites were identified and visualized in the kidneys of the HFD/STZ-induced diabetic rats and db/db mice, respectively. The result showed that there were significant region-specific changes in the glycolysis, TCA cycle, lipid metabolism, carnitine metabolism, choline metabolism, and purine metabolism in both DN models. However, the regional levels of the ten metabolites, including glucose, AMP, eicosenoic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid, Phosphatidylserine (36:1), Phosphatidylserine (36:4), Phosphatidylethanolamine (34:1), Phosphatidylethanolamine (36:4), Phosphatidylcholine (34:2), Phosphatidylinositol (38:5) were changed in reversed directions, indicating significant differences in the local metabolic phenotypes of these two commonly used DN animal models. This study provides comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the differences in the tissue and molecular pathological features in diabetic kidney injury in HFD/STZ-induced diabetic rats and db/db mice. In this paper, an analytical expression of Airy beams near a black hole is derived by general relativity concepts. This paper demonstrates the self‐acceleration and the self‐healing properties of Airy beams near a black hole with different Schwarzschild radii. It shows, during transmission, that the equivalent acceleration near a black hole decreases to a minimum negative value, then increases and eventually approaches zero. After propagating a certain distance, the trajectories of Airy beams approaching a black hole may no longer travel along parabolas, but rather almost straight lines due to the existence of the strong gravitational field. The shapes of the wave structure of Airy beams remain unvarying during the transmission, which indicates that the nondiffraction characteristic is still present. A polarization-insensitive broadband terahertz absorber with a sandwich structure of metal–dielectric-graphene is designed and simulated. The graphene is patterned as an array of graphene square blocks with circular apertures. The results of the simulations and theoretical analysis show that the absorption exceeds 99 % from 0.93   to   1.65   THz while 90 % from 0.80   to   1.87   THz , and a broad relative bandwidth of 80.2% is achieved. The absorption performance is passively enhanced by altering physical dimensions of the graphene pattern and actively adjusted by changing the chemical potential of graphene. When the chemical potential increases from 0.1   eV to 0.7   eV , the corresponding terahertz absorption increases from 59.1 % to 99 % . The mechanism of absorption is disclosed by analyzing the impedance matching theory and distribution of electric-field intensity. In addition, different polarization modes and incident angles are also studied. The proposed absorber has the superiorities of broad relative bandwidth, high absorption rate, polarization insensitivity, and a wide incident angle, which offers some potential applications in the field of terahertz technology such as imaging, detection, and cloaking. Entanglement-based quantum networks can provide unconditionally secure communication by distributing entangled pairs between distant end nodes. To achieve end-to-end entanglement distribution, multiple operations of entanglement swapping in a quantum repeater chain are always required. However, due to the non-determinism of entanglement swapping caused by imperfect physical devices, the execution pattern of swapping operations has a direct impact on the performance of entanglement distribution, which can be categorized into an entanglement access control (EAC) problem. In this article, we attribute the EAC problem to two aspects: the matching optimization within quantum nodes, and the swapping conflict avoidance between quantum nodes. Accordingly, we propose an asynchronous entanglement distribution protocol which contains a custom weighted maximum matching algorithm, and a reliable signaling interaction mechanism to avoid a swapping conflict, respectively. Based on the proposed protocol, quantum repeaters autonomously decide their behaviors and spontaneously construct the end-to-end entangled pairs asynchronously. Simulation results show that our protocol can significantly improve the entanglement distribution rate and fidelity of end-to-end entangled pairs while simplifying the deployment and management process of the quantum networks. Background: CSCs play an important role in tumor development. Some studies have demonstrated that piRNAs participate in the progression of various cancers. However, the detailed function of piRNAs in CSCs requires further investigation. This study aimed to investigate the significance of novel piRNA MW557525, one of the top five up-regulated piRNAs screened by gene chip and it has been verified by RT-q-PCR that it is indeed the most obvious up-regulated expression in Piwil2-iCSCs. Methods and results: Differentially expressed piRNAs in Piwil2-iCSCs were screened by gene chip. Target genes were predicted by the miRanda algorithm and subjected to GO and KEGG analysis. One of the differential piRNAs, novel piRNA MW557525, was transfected and its target gene NOP56 was silenced in Piwil2-iCSCs, respectively. RT-qPCR, western blot (WB) and dual luciferase reporter assay were used to investigate the interaction of piRNA MW557525 and NOP56. We identified the effect of piRNA MW557525 and NOP56 knockdown on cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis via CCK-8, transwell assay, and flow cytometry. The expressions of CD24, CD133, KLF4, and SOX2 were detected via WB. The results showed that piRNA MW557525 was negatively correlated with NOP56, and it promoted the proliferation, migration, invasion, and inhibited apoptosis in Piwil2-iCSCs, and it also promoted the expressions of CD24, CD133, KLF4, and SOX2, while NOP56 showed the opposite effect. The whole‐plant economics spectrum (PES) refers to the trade‐offs among the many plant functional traits that are commonly used as indicators of major adaptive strategies, thereby providing insights into plant distributions, ecosystem processes and evolution. However, there are few studies of what may be called the whole‐PES that integrates bark, wood and leaf functional traits for different leaf types and growth habits (evergreen vs. deciduous species).To address this gap in our knowledge, 6 bark traits, 7 wood traits (including mechanical support and nutrient transport characteristics) and 12 leaf traits (including chemical, structural and physiological characteristics) of 59 representative subtropical woody species were examined using principal component analysis (PCA) to determine PES strategies.The economics spectra of bark (BES), wood (WES) and leaves (LES), and the entire PES indicated that major traits represent resource acquisition strategies and conservation strategies clustering on the opposite ends of the PCA axis. A significant correlation was observed among the 25 functional traits. The data indicated that N and P nutrient levels were at the hub of BES, WES, LES and PES interrelationships. Evergreen and deciduous species had different WES and LES, and thus PES resource acquisition strategies. With the exception of the BES, evergreen species clustered on the conservative side, whereas deciduous species clustered on the acquisitive side.Synthesis. The PES presented here informs our understanding of whole‐plant responses to environmental differences, particularly regarding the role of N and P traits at the whole‐plant level. It also reveals and further supports the notion that evergreen and deciduous species, respectively, manifest conservative and acquisitive strategies, further informing our understanding of species biodiversity maintenance. The attenuation characteristics of obliquely incident electromagnetic (EM) wave in L-Ka frequency band in weakly ionized dusty plasma are analyzed based on the modified Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook (BGK) collision model. According to the kinetic equation and the charging theory, the total complex dielectric constant of the weakly ionized dusty plasma is derived by considering that the minimum velocity of the electron accessible to the dust particle surface is non-zero and the second potential part of the collision cross-section contributes to the charging. The attenuation characteristics within the modified model are compared with those within the traditional model. The influence of the dusty plasma parameters and the incident angle of EM waves on the attenuation in weakly ionized dusty plasma is further analyzed. Finally, the influence of different reentry heights on the attenuation characteristics of the obliquely incident EM wave is discussed. The results show that the effect of the minimum electron velocity and the second term of the collision cross-section on the attenuation characteristics of EM waves cannot be ignored. When the dust density and dust radius are changed, the trends of the attenuation of obliquely incident EM waves are consistent, but the influence of dust density is weaker than that of dust radius due to the constraint of orbit-limited motion (OLM) theory. The plasma thickness, electron density, and incident angle are proportional to the attenuation amplitude of EM waves. A novel frequency quasi-linear swept light source based on multi-frequency time-matched spectrum stitching and recirculating frequency shifter loop (RFSL) is proposed and successfully demonstrated. The seed light with different frequencies enters RFSL in turn through optical delay line to complete the frequency sweep and spectrum stitching of each band. Spectrum stitching can effectively reset the noise, suppress the accumulation of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise and the spectral sideband noise in RFSL, and expand the sweep range several times without affecting the sweep linearity. A swept range of 5.227 nm is experimentally achieved with the noise range of 7.78 dB. Compared with the single-frequency sweep scheme that the noise variation is 9.03 dB, the sweep range is extended by more than three times. Skeletal muscle tissue is composed of various muscle cell types which differ in physiological functions. Changes in cell type composition of skeletal muscle are associated with the development of metabolic diseases. Skeletal muscle cell types are currently distinguished by immunofluorescence (IF) staining based on myosin heavy chain (MHC) isoform difference. However, it remains a challenge to provide metabolic fingerprints of different muscle cell types by IF staining. Therefore, in this study, we proposed a method to examine metabolite distribution within different cell types by time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS) with high spatial resolution. Skeletal muscle samples from C57/BL6 mice were obtained by slicing. Cell types in TOF-SIMS images were labelled corresponding to IF images from the same region of serially cut sections. Mass spectra corresponding to individual muscle cells were extracted to compare metabolic fingerprints among cell types. Skeletal muscle cells were classified into two clusters based on the mass spectra of individual cells. Unsaturated diacylglycerol (DG) and fatty acid (FA) species were found to be distributed in a cell-type dependent manner. Moreover, relative quantification showed that the content of unsaturated DGs, oleic acid and linoleic acid was higher in type I and type IIA cells than in type IIB cells. TOF-SIMS in combination with IF enables us to directly visualize metabolite distribution in different cell types, to find potential biomarkers for cell type classification. The effects of nonuniform moving plasma on the polarization properties of electromagnetic (EM) waves were theoretically studied. Taking the ${L}$ -band right-hand circularly polarized (RHCP) wave as an example, based on the nonuniform moving plasma slab moving perpendicularly to the incident wave, the relationship between the polarization properties of the transmitted wave and the normalized velocity of the nonuniform plasma slab was analyzed. The results indicate that the polarization state of the transmitted wave is closely related to the normalized velocity of the nonuniform plasma slab. When the plasma slab approaches to the incident wave, its influence on the polarization properties is greater than that away from the incident wave. In addition, when the change of the polarization state reaches the maximum, the corresponding normalized velocity is mainly determined by the incident angle and the collision frequency. A core–shell hybrid of ZnO and nitrogen-doped carbon (ZnO@C:N) is designed as a long-cycling anode for LIBs. The ZnO@C:N hybrid has a high initial capacity of 1116 mA h g−1 and a reversible capacity of 608 mA h g−1 after 500 cycles at 0.1 A g−1. The influence of weakly ionized dusty plasma on electromagnetic (EM) wave propagation was investigated to understand blackouts in communications during the reentry of hypersonic vehicles. Adopting the Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook (BGK) collision model and charging theory, the total complex dielectric constant of weakly ionized dusty plasma is derived considering solely: 1) a nonzero minimum velocity of the electron; 2) a contribution of the second term of the collision cross-section; and finally, 3) both 1) and 2) considered. Using the propagation matrix method, we analyzed the dielectric constant and propagation properties from our modified models and those of the traditional model for weakly ionized plasma with and without dust. The results show that, regarding EM waves, the dust-free weakly ionized plasma has a larger coefficient of reflection than weakly ionized dusty plasma. Simultaneous considering nonzero velocity and contribution of the second term of the collision cross-section significantly changed the dielectric constant and propagation properties, indicating the nonnegligible role of these two factors. Furthermore, the influence of dust size and concentration on the propagation properties of the EM wave was discussed with considering the two factors. The simulated results show that the coefficient of absorption increases and the coefficient of transmission decreases with increase in size and concentration of dust particles. Background: Laparoscopic hepatectomy (LH) has been reported as a safe and efficacious treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. However, in cirrhosis patients, LH may be more complex and challenging. So, the short- and long-term outcomes should be well evaluated between LH and open hepatectomy (OH) in HCC patients with cirrhosis. Objectives: To compare the short- and long-term outcomes of LH with OH in HCC patients with cirrhosis. Materials and Methods: The PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science were systematically searched to identify the clinical trials published until July 2018 on the comparison of LH and OH in HCC patients with cirrhosis. The statistical analysis was conducted by the Review Manager 5.3 (Cochrane Collaboration, Oxford, United Kingdom). Short-term outcomes included blood loss, operation time, blood transfusion, postoperative complications, mortality, postoperative hospital stay, tumor size, and surgical margin. Long-term outcomes included 1-, 3-, 5-year overall survival (OS) and 1-, 3-, 5-year disease-free survival (DFS). Results: Seventeen studies with 2004 patients were included in this meta-analysis. For short-term outcomes, LH suggested less blood loss, lower blood transfusion rates, reduced occurrence of postoperative complications, wider surgical margin, shorter postoperative hospital stay, and declined rate of mortality (all P < .05). However, there was no significant difference in operation time (P = .67) between the two groups, whereas tumor size was larger in OH (P = .004). As to long-term outcomes, 1-, 3-, 5-year OS and 1-year DFS were higher in LH group (all P < .05). Nevertheless, there were no significant differences in 3- and 5-year DFS (P = .23 and .83, respectively). Conclusions: For the HCC patients with cirrhosis, current evidence suggests that LH shows not only better outcomes in short term, but also a comparable and even improved long-term prognosis. Hybrids of iridium–cobalt phosphates (IrCo-Pi) were prepared via a facile co-electrodeposition approach and employed as an electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). An ultrafast wavenumber linear-step-swept source based on a synchronous lightwave synthesized frequency sweeper (SLSFS) is demonstrated. A multi-wavelength source is used as a seed source. In SLSFS, the swept range of different wavelength components is precisely controlled by a stable programmable radio frequency signal applied on a dual-parallel Mach–Zehnder modulator instead of a conventional wavelength filter. The identical frequency shifting step of all the wavelength components promises high linear sweeping in the frequency domain. The key significance of this technique is that the swept rate and the swept range increases as the number of the seed wavelengths increases. Experimentally, a 120 kHz swept rate over the 4.75 nm range with a 8.6 GHz swept step is achieved when using two coupled DFB-LDs as the seed source. The K-linearity of Pearson's correlation coefficients is 0.99999. We report a study on dynamical evolution of the ultrashort time-domain dark hollow Gaussian (TDHG) pulses beyond the slowly varying envelope approximation in homogenous plasma. Using the complex-source-point model, an analytical formula is proposed for describing TDHG pulses based on the oscillating electric dipoles, which is the exact solution of the Maxwell's equations. The numerical simulations show the relativistic longitudinal self-compression (RSC) due to the relativistic mass variation of moving electrons. The influences of plasma oscillation frequency and collision effect on dynamics of the TDHG pulses in plasma have been considered. Frequency modulation continuous wave (FMCW) lasers are key components in modern optical imaging. However, current intracavity modulation lasers do not exhibit low-frequency jitter rate and high linearity due to the inherent relaxation oscillations. Although this may be compensated in a direct modulation laser diode using an optoelectronic feedback loop, the available sweep speed is moderately small. In this letter, a special external modulation method is developed to improve the performance of FMCW. Since only the first sideband optical field is used during the entire generation process, phase noise is kept to a minimum and is also independent of the sweep speed. Based on the radiation field emitted by a pair of oscillating electric dipoles under the complex-source-point model, an analytical formula is proposed for describing a series of time-domain Gaussian pulses propagating in free space. According to the formula, we analyze the spatiotemporal propagation of the real part of the electric field, the square of electric field envelope and the energy density. The intrinsic chirps of the pulses are calculated. The ultrashort Gaussian pulse in time-domain will become flat Gaussian, and eventually turn into a time-domain dark hollow Gaussian (TDHG) pulse as the order term of the analytic expression increases. The TDHG pulses can keep dark hollow even for a long propagating distance. It has been very difficult to use popular elemental imaging techniques to image Li and B distribution in glass samples with nanoscale resolution. In this study, time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry, nanoscale secondary ion mass spectrometry, and atom probe tomography (APT) were used to image the distribution of Li and B in two representative glass samples, and their performance was comprehensively compared. APT can provide three-dimensional Li and B imaging with very high spatial resolution (≤2 nm). In addition, absolute quantification of Li and B is possible, although there remains room for improving accuracy. However, the major drawbacks of APT include poor sample compatibility and limited field of view (normally ≤100 × 100 × 500 nm3). Comparatively, time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry and nanoscale secondary ion mass spectrometry are sample-friendly with flexible field of view (up to 500 × 500 µm2 and image stitching is feasible); however, lateral resolution is limited to only about 100 nm. Therefore, secondary ion mass spectrometry and APT can be regarded as complementary techniques for nanoscale imaging of Li and B in glass and other novel materials.
