Purpose: To investigate the aging and fracture resistance of screw-retained implant-supported single crowns (iSCs) fabricated from lithium disilicate containing virgilite (VLD). Materials and Methods: iSCs were fabricated from VLD (CEREC Tessera, Dentsply Sirona) and lithium disilicate (control, n = 8; IPS e.max CAD, Ivoclar) and bonded to a Ti-base abutment. VLD crowns were luted either with (VLDc, n = 8) or without (VLDw, n = 8) a coupling agent. iSCs were cleaned, sterilized, and screw-retained on implants. Fracture force was determined after thermal cycling and mechanical loading (TCML). Results: All crowns survived TCML. No significant differences in mean fracture forces were identified between VLDc (1,583 N), VLDw (1,694 N), and control (1,797 N; P = .639 ANOVA, P = 1.000 Bonferroni). Conclusions: Screw-retained iSCs fabricated from VLD provide acceptable stability, which is independent on the usage of a coupling agent for bonding to Ti-base abutments and sterilization. The study aimed to determine the effects of two differing amino acid beverage interventions on biomarkers of intestinal epithelial integrity and systemic inflammation in response to an exertional-heat stress challenge. One week after the initial assessment, participants (n = 20) were randomly allocated to complete two exertional-heat stress trials, with at least 1 week washout. Trials included a water control trial (CON), and one of two possible amino acid beverage intervention trials (VS001 or VS006). On VS001 (4.5 g/L) and VS006 (6.4 g/L), participants were asked to consume two 237-ml prefabricated doses daily for 7 days before the exertional-heat stress, and one 237-ml dose immediately before, and every 20 min during 2-hr running at 60% maximal oxygen uptake in 35 °C ambient conditions. A water volume equivalent was provided on CON. Whole blood samples were collected pre-, immediately post-, 1 and 2 hr postexercise, and analyzed for plasma concentrations of cortisol, intestinal fatty acid protein, soluble CD14, and immunoglobulin M (IgM) by ELISA, and systemic inflammatory cytokines by multiplex. Preexercise resting biomarker concentrations for all variables did not significantly differ between trials (p >.05). A lower response magnitude for intestinal fatty acid protein (mean [95% CI]: 249 [60, 437] pg/ml, 900 [464, 1,336] pg/ml), soluble CD14 (−93 [−458, 272] ng/ml, 12 [−174, 197] ng/ml), and IgM (−6.5 [−23.0, 9.9] MMU/ml, −10.4 [−16.2, 4.7] MMU/ml) were observed on VS001 and V006 compared with CON (p <.05), respectively. Systemic inflammatory response profile was lower on VS001, but not VS006, versus CON (p <.05). Total gastrointestinal symptoms did not significantly differ between trials. Amino acid beverages' consumption (i.e., 4.5–6.4 g/L), twice daily for 7 days, immediately before, and during exertional-heat stress ameliorated intestinal epithelial integrity and systemic inflammatory perturbations associated with exercising in the heat, but without exacerbating gastrointestinal symptoms. Objective: Although corticosteroids and other treatments for idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL) have been described, understanding its prognosis without intervention provides valuable information for patient management. The objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive, quantitative statistical analysis of the natural history of untreated idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL). Study Type and Design: A systematic review and meta‐analyses. Methods: Two independent searches of PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases up to June 30, 2022, were performed. Adults with idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss who received placebo or were untreated and had audiometric outcome measures in all study types were reviewed. These data indicative of the natural history of ISSNHL were analyzed, as were study characteristics related to risk of bias. Heterogeneity as assessed via I2 and random effects analyses were performed. Results: Six studies meeting the inclusion criteria yielded 319 untreated patients whose natural history could be assessed. Heterogeneity among studies was moderate, with a variety of reported outcomes. A hearing improvement of at least 30 dB HL was observed in 36% (95% CI 0.28–0.44) of untreated patients, and of at least 10 dB HL was observed in 70% (95% CI 0.57–0.82) of untreated patients at 3 months. The mean hearing gain among untreated patients was 24.0 dB HL (95% CI 2.65–45.37) at 2–3 months. Conclusions: The observed natural history of ISSNHL suggests that patients can regain some hearing without active treatment. In the absence of future studies collecting prospective natural history data from untreated or placebo‐treated ISSNHL patients, the data presented here provide the best available historical control data for reconsideration of results in past ISSNHL studies, as well as a roadmap for design and interpretation of future ISSNHL treatment clinical trials. Furthermore, knowing there is a statistically significant mean hearing gain of 24.0 dB HL in the untreated/placebo group provides an ethical basis for future placebo study of ISSNHL. Many clinical trials assess time‐to‐event endpoints. To describe the difference between groups in terms of time to event, we often employ hazard ratios. However, the hazard ratio is only informative in the case of proportional hazards (PHs) over time. There exist many other effect measures that do not require PHs. One of them is the average hazard ratio (AHR). Its core idea is to utilize a time‐dependent weighting function that accounts for time variation. Though propagated in methodological research papers, the AHR is rarely used in practice. To facilitate its application, we unfold approaches for sample size calculation of an AHR test. We assess the reliability of the sample size calculation by extensive simulation studies covering various survival and censoring distributions with proportional as well as nonproportional hazards (N‐PHs). The findings suggest that a simulation‐based sample size calculation approach can be useful for designing clinical trials with N‐PHs. Purpose of Review: This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current understanding of breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), including its incidence, risk factors, clinical presentation, and diagnostic criteria. The aim is to enhance awareness among healthcare professionals and patients about BIA-ALCL, its management strategies, and the importance of surveillance in individuals with breast implants. Recent Findings: Breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) is a rare form of T cell lymphoma characterized by the presence of the CD30 biomarker. Although BIA-ALCL is more prevalent than other primary breast lymphomas, its incidence rate is extremely low. Textured implants have been associated with nearly all instances of BIA-ALCL. A significant proportion of BIA-ALCL patients exhibit an excellent prognosis after the extraction of the implants and capsules. Unfavorable outcomes are seen in instances of tumor bulk and implant capsule invasion. Summary: This review provides an in-depth understanding of breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), focusing on its incidence, risk factors, clinical presentation, diagnostic criteria, and imaging evaluation. The personality configuration of mentors and mentees is important in understanding mentoring outcomes. While the best mentors appear to have higher degrees of agreeableness and conscientiousness, entrepreneurs generally score lower on agreeableness and have higher degrees of narcissism, a personality trait that could be detrimental to mentoring. We investigated the interaction of narcissism with two traits from the Big Five Inventory, namely agreeableness and conscientiousness, to see how this interaction influenced learning from the relationship of mentee entrepreneurs. Our findings suggest that mentee narcissism negatively influences learning, and mentor agreeableness mitigates the negative effects on mentee learning. These findings show certain beneficial personality configurations in entrepreneurial mentoring and provide elements to consider in managerial practice when pairing mentors and mentees in this context. The proliferation of entrepreneurship education in business schools suggests that it is commonly believed to foster venture creation. At the same time, research on entrepreneurship education is growing. However, further studies are needed to determine the effectiveness of compulsory entrepreneurship education (CEE) by providing evidence on the specific type of entrepreneurial behavior it elicits and when these effects occur. To address this gap, this study evaluates different behavioral outcomes of CEE over time while building on social cognitive career theory to account for mediating effects of entrepreneurial intentions and entrepreneurial self-efficacy. We conduct a field quasi-experiment by following university business students (1,387 observations for 450 individuals) over 24 months post-treatment. Our findings reveal that CEE effectively increases entrepreneurial behavior in the short term but does not extend much beyond that. Purpose: The thalamo-mesencephalic (TM) branches of the posterior cerebral artery (PCA) supply critical structures. Previous descriptions of these vessels are inconsistent and almost exclusively rely on cadaver studies. We aimed to provide a neuroradiological description of TM vessels in vivo based on routine 3D rotational angiographies (3D-RA). Methods: We analyzed 3D-RAs of 58 patients with pathologies remote from the PCA. PCA-origins were considered. Delineation, origin and number of branches of the collicular artery (CA), the accessory CA (ACA), the posterior thalamoperforating artery (PTA), the thalamogeniculate artery (TGA), and the posterior medial (PMCA) and lateral (PCLA) choroid arteries were assessed. The PTAs were categorized based on Percheron's suggested classification. Results: A CA was identified in 84%, an ACA in 20%. The PTA was delineated in 100%. In 27%, PTA anatomy had features of several Percheron types (n = 7) or vessels emanating from a net like origin (n = 9). 26% had a type IIb PTA. A fetal type PCA origin with hypoplastic ipsilateral P1 was observed in 5 cases with type IIa (n = 2) or type IIb (n = 3) PTAs originating from contralateral P1. The TGA was identified in 85% of patients, with ≥ 2 branches in 67%. The PMCA was delineable in 41%, the PLCA in 100%. Conclusion: The prevalence of a proper "Artery of Percheron" type IIb PTA seems to be higher than previously reported. A fetal type P1-origin may be predictive of a type IIa/b PTA emanating from contralateral P1. 3D-RA may be useful for planning PCA interventions, as impairment of TM branches is a severe risk. Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a genetic disorder characterized by bone fragility and fractures, short stature, dental abnormalities, hearing loss, scoliosis, and chronic pain. Despite a growing literature on the functional outcomes of OI, limited research has explicitly examined the psychosocial outcomes of pain within OI. Adults with OI (N = 15) were interviewed to understand pain-related experiences through a thematic analysis of semi-structured interview data. Research team members, genetic research experts, and OI clinicians developed an interview guide focused on topics related to pain and mental health challenges. Participants' transcripts were coded by two independent coders; codes were then merged across coders and quotation outputs were subsequently abstracted (paraphrased then thematically classified) to identify common themes. Themes related to pain management variability regarding pain type, pain risk management and accessibility, pain outcomes (e.g., behavior, cognitive, affective), and pain exacerbating factors (e.g., individual, contextual) were identified. Participants reported chronic and acute pain, and despite the inaccessibility and stigmatization of pain medications (e.g., opioids), pharmacological treatments were the most common pain management approach. Participants reported negative pain outcomes, such as limited daily functioning and activity participation, fear, anger, anxiety, depression, and difficulty concentrating. Lastly, participants suggested that lack of physician and community knowledge on chronic pain in OI indirectly exacerbates both subjective pain intensity and outcomes. Although limited by a small, nondiverse sample, the current study provides valuable exploration of the unique pain experiences of adults with OI that may have implications for proactive management, treatment development, and clinician training. Background Factors influencing susceptibility to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) remain to be resolved. Using data from the Swiss HIV Cohort Study on 6270 people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and serologic assessment for SARS-CoV-2 and circulating human coronavirus (HCoV) antibodies, we investigated the association of HIV-related and general parameters with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Methods We analyzed SARS-CoV-2 polymerase chain reaction test results, COVID-19–related hospitalizations, and deaths reported to the Swiss HIV Cohort Study between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2021. Antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 and HCoVs were determined in prepandemic (2019) and pandemic (2020) biobanked plasma samples and compared with findings in HIV-negative individuals. We applied logistic regression, conditional logistic regression, and bayesian multivariate regression to identify determinants of SARS-CoV-2 infection and antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2 in people with HIV. Results No HIV-1–related factors were associated with SARS-CoV-2 acquisition. High prepandemic HCoV antibodies were associated with a lower risk of subsequent SARS-CoV-2 infection and with higher SARS-CoV-2 antibody responses on infection. We observed a robust protective effect of smoking on SARS-CoV-2 infection risk (adjusted odds ratio, 0.46 [95% confidence interval,.38–.56]; P <.001), which occurred even in previous smokers and was highest for heavy smokers. Conclusions Our findings of 2 independent protective factors, smoking and HCoV antibodies, both affecting the respiratory environment, underscore the importance of the local immune milieu in regulating susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2. The pathogenesis of HIV-1 infection is governed by a highly dynamic, time-dependent interaction between the host and the viral genome. In this study, we developed a novel systematic approach to assess the host-virus interaction, using average pairwise viral diversity as a proxy for time since infection, and applied this method to nearly whole viral genome sequences (n = 4,464), human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genotyping data (n = 1,044), and viral RNA load (VL) measurements during the untreated chronic phase (n = 829) of Swiss HIV Cohort Study participants. Our systematic genome-wide screen revealed for 98 HLA/viral-variant pairs a signature of immune-driven selection in the form of an HLA-dependent effect of infection time on the presence of HIV amino acid variants. Of these pairs, 12 were found to have an effect on VL. Furthermore, 28/58 pairs were validated by time-to-event analyses and 48/92 by computational HLA-epitope predictions. Our diversity-based approach allows a powerful and systematic investigation of the interaction between the virus and cellular immunity, revealing a notable subset of such interaction effects. From an evolutionary perspective, these observations underscore the complexity of HLA-mediated selection pressures on the virus that shape viral evolution and pathogenesis. Author summary: The intricate interplay between viruses and the human immune system is reflected in dynamic associations between the viral and the human genomes. These often take the form of escape dynamics, in which the virus acquires mutations that allow it to evade immune recognition. We developed a novel viral diversity-based method to screen for such interactions across the viral genome systematically and applied it to a unique dataset of HIV-1 sequences and human leukocyte antigen (HLA) variants. We could identify time-dependent interactions between 98 pairs of HLA and viral variants. Among these pairs, 12 were associated with the concentration of viral RNA, longitudinal time-to-event analyses confirmed 28, and 48 were consistent with computational predictions of viral peptide binding to HLA molecules. Our results highlight how the highly dynamic interaction between the viral genome and the immune system shapes viral evolution, and our approach offers new opportunities to systematically study such interactions from real-world cross-sectional data. Objectives: Surgical guides are frequently used for dental implant placement. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the 3D printing process itself and subsequent steam autoclaving on the dimensional stability of five different resin/printer combinations (RPCs). Materials and Methods: Fifty identical surgical guides (10 per group) were produced consisting of five RPCs. Half of the guides (5 per group) were steam autoclaved with cycle 1 (121°C, 1 bar, 20.5 min) and the other half with cycle 2 (134°C, 2 bar, 5.5 min). All guides were scanned with a structured‐light (SL) 3D scanner before (T0) and after (T1) autoclaving. Linear measurements along the x‐, y‐, and z‐axes were performed at landmarks on the original STL file and on SL scans at T0 and T1, respectively. Wilcoxon signed‐rank test, Kruskal–Wallis test, and linear mixed‐effects models were performed, depending on the analysis. Results: Three‐dimensional printing was associated with significant dimensional alterations for all RPCs. Steam autoclaving using cycle 1 was associated with significant shrinkage in x‐ (1 RPC), y‐ (2 RPCs), and z‐direction (2 RPCs), while cycle 2 was also associated with shrinkage in x‐ (2 RPCs), y‐ (1 RPC), and z‐direction (1 RPC). One resin did not present any dimensional changes independently of the cycle. Conclusions: The majority of the guides presented minor but significant shrinkage due to 3D printing itself and both steam autoclaving cycles, the extent varied between different RPCs. Deubiquitination is crucial for the proper functioning of numerous biological pathways, such as DNA repair, cell cycle progression, transcription, signal transduction and autophagy. Accordingly, pathogenic variants in deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) have been implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders and congenital abnormalities. ATXN7L3 is a component of the DUB module of the Spt-Ada-Gcn5 acetyltransferase (SAGA) complex and two other related DUB modules, and it serves as an obligate adaptor protein of three ubiquitin-specific proteases (USP22, USP27X or USP51). Through exome sequencing and by using GeneMatcher, we identified nine individuals with heterozygous variants in ATXN7L3. The core phenotype included global motor and language developmental delay, hypotonia and distinctive facial characteristics, including hypertelorism, epicanthal folds, blepharoptosis, a small nose and mouth, and low-set, posteriorly rotated ears. To assess pathogenicity, we investigated the effects of a recurrent nonsense variant [c.340C>T; p.(Arg114Ter)] in fibroblasts of an affected individual. ATXN7L3 protein levels were reduced, and deubiquitylation was impaired, as indicated by an increase in histone H2Bub1 levels. This is consistent with the previous observation of increased H2Bub1 levels in Atxn7l3- null mouse embryos, which have developmental delay and embryonic lethality. In conclusion, we present clinical information and biochemical characterization supporting ATXN7L3 variants in the pathogenesis of a rare syndromic neurodevelopmental disorder. Segmental tunnel linings have a complex structural behavior that is difficult to predict. Full-scale in situ structural monitoring allows us to gain access to these structures, observe the acting mechanisms, and better understand the actual structural behavior under realistic boundary conditions. In a recent structural monitoring project in Frankfurt, Germany, strains, deformations, and temperatures were measured at the segmental lining of a twin-tube tunnel boring machine (TBM) tunnel. Hereby, internal forces were back-calculated from the strain measurements. The results of the monitoring are presented and discussed in this paper. The measurements began immediately after the assembly of the segments and have been performed continuously over several years. Because of that, it was possible to observe that the internal forces differ significantly between the construction stage and the final state. During the construction stage, the internal forces develop quickly within hours after ring assembly, showing a distribution along the lining's circumference that is hard to predict. Almost all radial deformations occur during this period and remain unchanged afterward. After this first early phase, a period of stress redistribution follows, including significant changes in the internal forces. At its end, the stable, final state is reached. In this state, the internal forces match better with expectations. In the monitored areas, the stresses during the construction stage slightly exceeded those of the final state, which should be avoided for economic reasons. Additional investigations regard the temperature development within the lining, the influence of the second tube construction on the already built tube, and the development of longitudinal ring interaction over time. The latter significantly influences the structural behavior, but its development is often subject to uncertainties. In this case, it was observed that the longitudinal interaction decreases considerably over time. Practical Applications: In the structural design of segmental tunnel linings, structural or geotechnical engineers have various options regarding the available calculation methods and modeling strategies. All of these options are part of the state of the art, and the selection is up to the engineer. However, the results can be quite different depending on the chosen option. Consequently, uncertainties remain regarding the real linings' internal forces and structural reliability. The actual mechanisms can be identified by investigating the real structural behavior of segmental tunnel linings with in situ structural monitoring. Then, with back-analyses, on the one hand, it can be tested to determine how well different calculation methods and modeling strategies correspond to reality. On the other hand, the monitoring data can contribute to improving existing calculation methods, developing new modeling approaches, and establishing more detailed recommendations or optimizations regarding the design and construction of segmental tunnel linings. This paper presents findings derived from a structural monitoring project on a segmental lining. Different mechanisms and aspects, sometimes uncertain or debatable in tunnel design, are discussed regarding their real in situ appearance. This manuscript presents a model of a system implementing individual stages of production for long steel products resulting from rolling. The system encompasses the order registration stage, followed by production planning based on information about the billet inventory status, then offers the possibility of scheduling orders for the melt shop in the form of melt sequences, manages technological knowledge regarding the principles of sequencing, and utilizes machine learning and optimization methods in melt sequencing. Subsequently, production according to the implemented plan is monitored using IoT and vision tracking systems for ladle tracking. During monitoring, predictions of energy demand and energy consumption in LMS processes are made concurrently, as well as predictions of metal overheating at the CST station. The system includes production optimization at two levels: optimization of the heat sequence and at the production level through the prediction of heating time. Optimization models and machine learning tools, including mainly neural networks, are utilized. The system described includes key components: optimization models for sequencing heats using Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithms and neural network-based prediction models for power-on time. The manuscript mainly focuses on process modeling issues rather than implementation or deployment details. Machine learning models have significantly improved process efficiency and quality; the optimization of planning has reduced sequencing plan execution time; and power-on time prediction models estimate the main ladle heating time with 97% precision, enabling precise production control and reducing overheating. Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a biological process that breaks down organic matter in the absence of oxygen, producing biogas and nutrient-rich digestate. Various reactor designs and mixing strategies are well-established in AD processes, each with their own advantages and benefits. The presented study summarizes and investigates the state of the art of AD in domestic wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) in an Austrian alpine region, with a primary focus on finding similarities among the most efficient plants regarding digester design, mixing approaches, and biogas production. By combining surveys and detailed field studies in cooperation with 34 WWTPs, the study provides a comprehensive overview of common AD practices, reactor shapes, and inherent mixing methods, highlighting their potential regarding energetic efficiency and biogas production. The results of the survey reveal qualitative trends in efficient AD design alongside detailed quantitative data derived from the supervised in-field optimization studies. Notably, one of the studies demonstrated energetic savings of 52% with no decrease in biogas production, achieved by transitioning from gas injection to mechanical agitation. Redundant impeller-based overmixing was also practically investigated and demonstrated in another field study. After optimization, the adaptations also resulted in energy savings of 30%, still proving sufficient substrate mixing with biomethane potential analysis. In conclusion, this research emphasizes the economic and environmental importance of energy-refined practices and optimized processes while highlighting the sustainability of AD, particularly for large domestic WWTPs but also for different comparable applications. Background: Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB) is responsible for cognitive-behavioural disorders but also for gait disorders. The latter are thought to be related to parkinsonism, but the neural bases of these disorders are not well known, especially in the early stages. The aim of this study was to investigate by volumetric Magnetic Resonance Imaging the neuronal basis of gait disorders in DLB patients, compared to Healthy Elderly Controls and Alzheimer's Disease patients. Methods: Clinical examination with motor assessment including 10-meter walking speed, one-leg balance and Timed Up and Go test, a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation and 3D brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging were performed on 84 DLB patients, 39 Alzheimer's Disease patients and 22 Healthy Elderly Controls. We used Statistical Parametric Mapping 12 to perform a one-sample t-test to investigate the correlation between each gait score and gray matter volume (P ≤ 0.05 corrected for family-wise error). Results: We found a correlation for DLB patients between walking speed and gray matter decrease (P < 0.05, corrected for family-wise error) in caudate nuclei, anterior cingulate cortex, mid-cingulate cortex, hippocampi, supplementary motor area, right cerebellar cortex and left parietal operculum. We found no correlation with Timed Up and Go test and one-leg balance. Conclusion: Gait disorders are underpinned by certain classical regions such as the cerebellum and the supplementary motor area. Urbanization alters land surface properties in absorbing, reflecting and emitting radiation as well as infiltrating, evaporating and storing water. This consequently modifies surface energy and water fluxes and, thus, urban climates. Weak synoptic flow, clear sky conditions and higher surface temperatures in cities compared to their rural surroundings create a buoyancy‐driven atmospheric circulation, in which surface energy fluxes become the main determinants of urban daytime overheating. Here, we demonstrate the role of surface energy fluxes for warming and cooling processes in the urban canopy layer under buoyancy‐driven atmospheric conditions. We improve and apply an integrated CFD‐GIS modeling approach to provide a detailed analysis of fine‐scale land‐atmosphere interactions and assess the surfaces' profound implications on energy and water exchange. We show that variations in the ratios of the surface energy fluxes to the net radiation can be separated from meteorological conditions (wind speed, air temperature and incoming solar radiation) and emissivity values, varying explicitly with changes in land surface type and water availability for vegetated areas. Based on the energy flux ratios, we introduce an approach to assess the surface‐induced warming and cooling effect and its contribution to urban overheating in the urban canopy layer, under buoyancy‐driven atmospheric conditions, directly applicable to strategic urban planning for climate change adaptation. Independent of meteorological conditions, this approach can be used to evaluate different surface materials (both natural and artificial) and climate adaptation measures, such as urban nature‐based solutions and blue‐green infrastructures, and to monitor changes in the energy and water balance. Objectives: The rate of depression among college students has increased significantly, reducing vitality and ability to flourish. Mindfulness interventions delivered via technological platforms offer great promise for reducing depression symptoms and supporting positive wellbeing outcomes for college students. The present study aimed to understand the broader positive wellbeing outcomes that accompany a reduction in psychological distress following use of a technology-delivered mindfulness intervention. Methods: Using a randomized controlled treatment design, this study evaluated the benefits of a mindfulness-based mobile application (app), Headspace, on various aspects of wellbeing in depressed college students. Students (n = 145) were randomly assigned to 2 months of app-based intervention or to a waitlist control. Participants completed self-report surveys assessing mental health and wellbeing at pre-intervention, midpoint (1 month), post-intervention (2 months), and follow-up (3 months). Results: Using intent-to-treat analysis, those randomized to use the app, compared to those on the waitlist, demonstrated a reduction in depression symptoms, and in other indicators of psychological distress (e.g., anxiety, stress, negative affect), over time. Self-reported positive wellbeing outcomes included an increase in positive affect and happiness, enhanced capacity to savor the moment, enhanced compassion, self-regulation, and trait mindfulness. These statistically significant benefits were medium to large in size and lasted into the 1-month follow-up period. Further, students' patterns of app use point to the critical gap that evidence-based technology-delivered interventions can fill. Conclusions: Building on previous research, the present study illustrated that a technology-delivered mindfulness intervention comprehensively improved aspects of psychological distress and positive wellbeing in a sustained manner in college students. Objectives: Bitewing radiography is considered to be of high diagnostic value in caries detection, but owing to projections, lesions may remain undetected. The novel bitewing plus (BW +) technology enables scrolling through radiographs in different directions and angles. The present study aimed at comparing BW + with other 2D and 3D imaging methods in terms of sensitivity, specificity, and user reliability. Materials and methods: Five human cadavers were used in this study. In three cadavers, natural teeth were transplanted post-mortem. BW + , two-dimensional (digital sensors, imaging plates, 2D and 3D bitewing radiographs) and 3D methods (high and low dose CBCT) were taken. Carious lesions were evaluated on 96 teeth at three positions (mesial, distal, and occlusal) and scored according to their level of demineralization by ten observers, resulting in 35,799 possible lesions across all observers and settings. For reference, µCT scans of all teeth were performed. Results: Overall, radiographic evaluations showed a high rate of false-negative diagnoses, with around 70% of lesions remaining undetected, especially enamel lesions. BW + showed the highest sensitivity for dentinal caries and had comparatively high specificity overall. Conclusions: Within the limits of the study, BW + showed great potential for added diagnostic value, especially for dentinal caries. Apart from active ingredients, the environmental impact of auxiliary synthetic polymers should be minimized if they are highly persistent. An alternative to synthetic polymers is the use of natural polysaccharides, which are abundant and biodegradable. In this study, we explore pectin microgels functionalized with anchor peptides (P‐MAPs) to be used as an alternative biobased pesticide delivery system. Using copper as the active ingredient, P‐MAPs effectively prevented infection of grapevine plants with downy mildew under semi‐field conditions on par with commercial copper pesticides. By using anchor peptides, the microgels tightly bind to the leaf surface, exhibiting excellent rain fastness and prolonged fungicidal activity. Single-shot X-ray phase-contrast imaging is used to take high-resolution images of laser-driven strong shock waves. Employing a two-grating Talbot interferometer, we successfully acquire standard absorption, differential phase-contrast, and dark-field images of the shocked target. Good agreement is demonstrated between experimental data and the results of two-dimensional radiation hydrodynamics simulations of the laser–plasma interaction. The main sources of image noise are identified through a thorough assessment of the interferometer's performance. The acquired images demonstrate that grating-based phase-contrast imaging is a powerful diagnostic tool for high-energy-density science. Background: Injuries in professional baseball players have become exceedingly common. Efforts to mitigate injury risk have focused on the kinetic chain, shoulder motion, and so forth. It is unclear whether grip strength is related to injury risk in professional baseball pitchers. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to determine if grip strength was a risk factor for injury. It was hypothesized that pitchers with weaker grip strength would have a higher likelihood of sustaining a shoulder or elbow injury compared with pitchers with stronger grip strength. Study Design: Case-control study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: All professional pitchers from a single Major League Baseball organization were included. Dominant and nondominant grip strength were measured after each pitching outing throughout the 2022 season. Injuries over the course of the season were recorded, and data were compared between pitchers who sustained a shoulder or elbow injury and those who did not. Results: Overall, 213 pitchers were included, of whom 53 (24.9%) sustained a shoulder or elbow injury during the season. The mean grip strength for all pitchers was 144.0 ± 20.8 lb (65.3 ± 9.4 kg). The mean dominant-arm grip strength was 142.6 ± 20.8 lb (64.7 ± 9.4 kg) for pitchers who did not sustain a shoulder or elbow injury and 148.2 ± 20.9 lb (67.2 ± 9.5 kg) for pitchers who did sustain an injury, with no significant group difference in grip strength (P >.05). Furthermore, there were no significant differences in change in grip strength over the course of the season between the groups. Conclusion: There was no significant difference in mean grip strength or change in grip strength over the course of a single season between professional baseball pitchers who sustained a shoulder or elbow injury and those who did not. Introduction: In the context of severe unexplained haemorrhage (SH), it is usual to seek haematological evaluation and investigate for an inherited rare bleeding disorder (IRBD). In such circumstances, appropriate screen can discriminate between IRBD and suspected child abuse. Yet, little information is available about the frequency of SH in the population of patients with IRBD. Aim: To collect epidemiologic data about SH and IRBD. Method: The database of the FranceCoag network has collected information about IRBD since January 2004. Based on data gathered up to 16 March 2022, a retrospective search was conducted for of SH events having occurred before or at the time of IRBD diagnosis. Demographics and diagnosis circumstances were retrieved, as well as information about SH, defined as any life‐threatening bleeding or intracranial haemorrhage. Results: Among the 13,433 patients of the database, 109 (0.8%) fulfilled inclusion criteria including a known date of IRBD diagnosis, haemophilia A or B (HA/HB) being the most frequent (82.5%). IRBD was discovered as a consequence of an SH event in 82.6% of the cases while CNS was involved in 55%. Severe and moderate HA/HB and other severe IRBD presented significantly more intracranial haemorrhage (p <.02) and a lower age at diagnosis (p =.03). Conclusions: These data support that any unusual SH should raise a suspicion of IRBD. Particularly before 1‐year of age, it is suggested to first confirm moderate or severe haemophilia and severe IRBD by standard coagulation tests (APTT, PT and fibrinogen), combined with a clotting FXIII assay as first‐line investigation. Peptide nanofibrils (PNFs) are considered a novel and highly efficient class of retroviral transduction enhancers due to their ability to efficiently bind virus particles and promote their attachment to the membrane of target cells. In this study, the virus‐binding properties of enhancing factor C (EF‐C) PNFs are used to develop a method for concentrating and isolating HIV‐1 particles without the need for centrifugation. Upon incubation in a virus‐laden sample, PNF‐coated magnetic beads facilitate magnetic separation, effectively depleting virus particles from the solution and consequently reducing its infectious nature. Remarkably, the isolated virus particles maintain their infectivity and exhibit an enhanced ability to infect target cells due to the complexation with EF‐C PNFs. This enhancement is pivotal for further virus propagation in cell cultures or detailed analysis. The presented method addresses the urgent need for more rapid, sensitive detection, and purification technologies for viral agents. It provides a tool to efficiently capture, isolate, and concentrate HIV‐1 particles. This may significantly improve the sensitivity of existing diagnostic tools and analytical tests. This article explores the challenges and solutions in the physical characterization of materials at the microscale using robotized systems, with a specific focus on manipulating and characterizing micrometer-sized particles with different and complex 3D shapes and internal sub-micrometer structures. In this paper, the studied particles are Molybdenum diSulfide (MoS2) based materials generated within the contact interface during friction.These particles are being studied because they offer a particularly promising solution for reducing mechanical friction and the associated high energy losses. However, they are distributed randomly within the contact area and possess intricate sub-micrometer structures. Characterization demands precise manipulation techniques in an in-situ Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) environment. To address these challenges, existing commercial micro and nanomanipulation tools are integrated within a vacuum SEM chamber, and robotics strategies are investigated to enable the whole process from particle preparation, and manipulation setup definition, to effective MoS 2 particle characterization all in-situ SEM. A set of several complementary experimental investigations are done and involve force measurement and deformation estimation studies, leading to the first qualitative results on MoS 2 based particles directly from the friction track. Zinc blende copper iodide is a natural p-type semiconductor that shows promise for transparent electronics, as it combines outstanding transmission of visible light with high hole mobilities. Despite that, remaining challenges still hinder its use in practical applications. To tackle this problem, chalcogen doping has been proposed and tested as a viable approach to enhance hole concentration. To further tune the electronic properties of this transparent semiconductor, we explore here the ternary phase diagram of copper and iodine with sulfur or selenium across the whole composition range. Performing structure prediction calculations using the minima hopping method, we predict 11 stable crystalline ternary structures, 9 of which are unreported. Based on our band structure calculations, we identify among these compounds 4 interesting candidates for p-type transparent materials and we propose alloying of iodine with a chalcogen atom as a way to control the hole concentration. Additionally, we reveal unreported metallic phases with intriguing topological properties. Our findings broaden the scope of potential applications of CuI-based materials, highlighting the possibility of harnessing their unique electronic characteristics in diverse electronic devices and systems. Background: The IMPACT survey aimed to elucidate the humanistic, clinical and economic burden of osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) on individuals with OI, their families, caregivers and wider society. Research methodology, demographics and initial insights from the survey have been previously reported. The cost of illness (healthcare resource use, productivity loss, out-of-pocket spending) and drivers of the economic impact of OI are reported here. Methods: IMPACT was an international mixed-methods online survey in eight languages (fielded July–September 2021) targeting adults (aged ≥ 18 years) or adolescents (aged ≥ 12–17 years) with OI, caregivers with or without OI and other close relatives. Survey domains included demographics, socioeconomic factors, clinical characteristics, treatment patterns, quality of life and health economics. The health economic domain for adults, which included questions on healthcare resource use, productivity loss and out-of-pocket spending, was summarised. Regression and pairwise analyses were conducted to identify independent drivers and associations with respondent characteristics. Results: Overall, 1,440 adults with OI responded to the survey. Respondents were mostly female (70%) and from Europe (63%) with a median age of 43 years. Within a 12-month period, adults with OI reported visiting a wide range of healthcare professionals. Two-thirds (66%) of adults visited a hospital, and one-third (33%) visited the emergency department. The mean total number of diagnostic tests undergone by adults within these 12 months was 8.0. Adults had undergone a mean total of 11.8 surgeries up to the time point of the survey. The proportions of adults using queried consumables or services over 12 months ranged from 18–82%, depending on the type of consumable or service. Most adults (58%) were in paid employment, of which nearly one-third (29%) reported missing a workday. Of the queried expenses, the mean total out-of-pocket spending in 4 weeks was €191. Respondent characteristics such as female sex, more severe self-reported OI and the experience of fractures were often associated with increased economic burden. Conclusion: IMPACT provides novel insights into the substantial cost of illness associated with OI on individuals, healthcare systems and society at large. This study investigated the effects of a high carbohydrate diet, with varied fermentable oligo-, di-, and mono-saccharide and polyol (FODMAP) content, before endurance exercise on gastrointestinal integrity, motility, and symptoms; and subsequent exercise performance. Twelve endurance athletes were provided with a 48 h high carbohydrate (mean ± SD: 12.1 ± 1.8 g kg day−1) diet on two separate occasions, composed of high (54.8 ± 10.5 g day−1) and low FODMAP (3.0 ± 0.2 g day−1) content. Thereafter, participants completed a 2 h steady-state running exercise at 60% of V ˙ O 2 max (22.9 ± 1.2 °C, 46.4 ± 7.9% RH), followed by a 1 h distance performance test. Pre-exercise and every 20 min during steady-state exercise, 100 mL maltodextrin (10% w/v) solution was consumed. A 150 mL lactulose (20 g) solution was consumed 30 min into the distance performance test to determine orocecal transit time (OCTT) during exercise. Blood was collected pre- and post exercise to determine gastrointestinal integrity biomarkers (i.e., I-FABP, sCD14, and CRP). Breath hydrogen (H2) and gastrointestinal symptoms (GIS) were determined pre-exercise, every 15 min, during and throughout recovery. No differences in gastrointestinal integrity biomarkers, OCTT, or distance completed were observed between trials. Pre-exercise total-GIS (1.3 ± 2.9 vs. 4.3 ± 4.4), gut discomfort (9.9 ± 8.1 vs. 15.8 ± 9.0), and upper-GIS (2.8 ± 2.6 vs. 5.7 ± 4.8) during exercise were less severe on high carbohydrate low FODMAP (HC-LFOD) versus high carbohydrate high FODMAP (HC-HFOD) (p < 0.05). Gut discomfort (3.4 ± 4.4 vs. 0.2 ± 0.6) and total-GIS (4.9 ± 6.8 vs. 0.2 ± 0.6) were higher during recovery on HC-LFOD versus HC-HFOD (p < 0.05). The FODMAP content of a 48 h high carbohydrate diet does not impact gastrointestinal integrity or motility in response to endurance exercise. For technical application with continuous operation of sorption-enhanced (SE) reactions, e.g., Fischer–Tropsch, a special reactor concept is required. SE processes are promising due to the negative effects of water on conversion and catalyst. The reactor concept of two interconnected slurry bubble columns combines the reaction with in situ water removal in the first, and sorbent regeneration in the second column with continuous exchange of slurry between the two. The liquid circulation rate (LCR) between the columns is studied in a cold flow model, measured by an ultrasonic sensor. The effects of different operating and geometric parameters, e.g., superficial gas velocity, liquid level and tube diameter on gas holdup and LCR are discussed and modelled via artificial intelligence methods, i.e., extremely randomized trees and neural networks. It was found that the LCR strongly depends on the gas holdup. The maximum of 4.28 L min−1 was reached with the highest exit, widest tube and highest superficial gas velocity of 0.15 m s−1. The influence of liquid level above the exit was marginal but water quality has to be considered. Both models offer predictions of the LCR with errors < 6%. Background: Data comparing the specific reversal agent andexanet alfa with non-specific treatments in patients with non-traumatic intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) associated with factor-Xa inhibitor (FXaI) use are scarce. Aim: The study aimed to determine the association between the use of andexanet alfa compared with non-specific treatments with the rate of hematoma expansion and thromboembolic complications in patients with FXaI-associated ICH. Methods: We performed an individual patient data analysis combining two independent, prospective studies: ANNEXA-4 (180 patients receiving andexanet alfa, NCT02329327) and TICH-NOAC (63 patients receiving tranexamic acid or placebo ± prothrombin complex concentrate, NCT02866838). The primary efficacy outcome was hematoma expansion on follow-up imaging. The primary safety outcome was any thromboembolic complication (ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism, or deep vein thrombosis) at 30 days. We used binary logistic regression models adjusted for baseline hematoma volume, age, calibrated anti-Xa activity, times from last intake of FXaI, and symptom onset to treatment, respectively. Results: Among 243 participants included, the median age was 80 (IQR 75–84) years, baseline hematoma volume was 9.1 (IQR 3.4–21) mL and anti-Xa activity 118 (IQR 78–222) ng/mL. Times from last FXaI intake and symptom onset to treatment were 11 (IQR 7–16) and 4.7 (IQR 3.0–7.6) h, respectively. Overall, 50 patients (22%) experienced hematoma expansion (ANNEXA-4: n=24 (14%); TICH-NOAC: n=26 (41%)). After adjusting for pre-specified confounders (baseline hematoma volume, age, calibrated anti-Xa activity, times from last intake of FXaI, and symptom onset to treatment, respectively), treatment with andexanet alfa was independently associated with decreased odds for hematoma expansion (aOR 0.33, 95% CI 0.13–0.80, p = 0.015). Overall, 26 patients (11%) had any thromboembolic complication within 30 days (ANNEXA-4: n=20 (11%); TICH-NOAC: n=6 (10%)). There was no association between any thromboembolic complication and treatment with andexanet alfa (aOR 0.70, 95% CI 0.16–3.12, p = 0.641). Conclusion: The use of andexanet alfa compared to any other non-specific treatment strategy was associated with decreased odds for hematoma expansion, without increased odds for thromboembolic complications. Introduction: Heart failure represents a major challenge for healthcare systems worldwide. Rehabilitation is recommended as an important pillar of therapy for these patients, especially for those with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (HFrEF: heart failure with reduced ejection fraction). Methods: The data collected in this multi-center project provide information on the rates of patients with HFrEF who were treated in five German rehabilitation facilities and whether the patients adhered to drug therapy at 3-/6-month follow-up. The project was supported by an unrestricted grant from Novartis-Pharma-GmbH. Results: The mean age of the 234 patients included was 63.4 ± 10.6 years and 78% were male. The mean LVEF was 31 ± 8% at admission and 36 ± 10% at discharge. Only 20.6% of the patients were assigned to rehabilitation with the main indication HF. The most frequent main indication was acute coronary syndrome (46.6%). A high proportion of patients was already on the recommended drug therapy upon admission (94% beta blockers, 100% angiotensin-effective drugs, 70% mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists, etc.). This was optimized, in particular by a higher proportion of patients treated with sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (35% admission vs. 45% discharge) and sacubitril/valsartan (49% admission vs. 64% discharge), which was further optimized during the 6-month follow-up (e.g., 50% SGLT2 inhibitors, 67% sacubitril/valsartan). Discussion: These data illustrate the effect of rehabilitation in terms of optimizing drug therapy, which stabilized over the course of 6 months. The significance of sustainable mobility transition projects extends beyond borders. Transportation, particularly passenger vehicles, is a crucial sector in achieving sustainability. Therefore, prioritizing sustainable green mobility has led to the inclusion of alternative solutions, with a focus on accelerating the shift towards electric vehicle (EV) technologies and implementing a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in all European countries by 2035. Italy has been making progress in this area as the country seeks to address environmental concerns, reduce emissions, and promote sustainable transportation. However, compared to other European countries in 2024, Italy still has a long way to go to achieve a sustainable market share. In this regard, this article aims to address several questions related to the promotion and scaling up of the electric mobility transition project in Italy, taking into account the current situation. Specifically, it seeks to identify internal and external factors associated with this technology ecosystem, along with their relative importance. To conduct this study, a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis was conducted to identify the factors, which was followed by the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) methodology to determine their priority and importance. A total of 8 internal factors and 14 external factors were analyzed, and their overall priority was determined. This study reveals that it is crucial to capitalize on the opportunities and strengths related to technology ecosystems while effectively mitigating the threats and technological limitations in order to scale up technology adoption. In particular, strengths S1 and S3 were given the highest overall priority scores, suggesting that they are the most important factors to leverage for the successful adoption of the technology.
