Background/Objectives: Numerical simulation plays an important role in pharmaceutical preparation recently. Mechanistic models, as a type of numerical model, are widely used in the study of pharmaceutical preparations. Mechanistic models are based on a priori knowledge, i.e., laws of physics, chemistry, and biology. However, due to interdisciplinary reasons, pharmacy researchers have greater difficulties in using computer models. Methods: In this paper, we highlight the application scenarios and examples of mechanistic modelling in pharmacy research and provide a reference for drug researchers to get started. Results: By establishing a suitable model and inputting preparation parameters, researchers can analyze the drug preparation process. Therefore, mechanistic models are effective tools to optimize the preparation parameters and predict potential quality problems of the product. With product quality parameters as the ultimate goal, the experiment design is optimized by mechanistic models. This process emphasizes the concept of quality by design. Conclusions: The use of numerical simulation saves experimental cost and time, and speeds up the experimental process. In pharmacy experiments, part of the physical information and the change processes are difficult to obtain, such as the mechanical phenomena during tablet compression and the airflow details in the nasal cavity. Recently, increased attention has been paid to the raw materials of plants as a source of biologically active substances. Black rosehip (Rosa pimpinellifolia L.) fruits could be a good resource for potential functional components in the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Also, drying can influence the composition of heat-sensitive phytochemicals. However, less attention is given to comparing black rosehip bioactive compounds particularly compositions of fatty acid, amino acids, and phenolic content in fresh and dried fruits. So in this study, the amino acid constituents (by amino acid analyzer), fatty acids (by GC–MS), mineral elements (by atomic absorption spectrometer), antioxidant (by DPPH) and phenolic compounds (by HPLC) present in fresh and dried fruits of black rosehip naturally grown in Iran were comprehensively investigated. The results showed that dried fruits had a lower level moisture by 51.55%, and a higher level of total phenolic compounds and total sugar by 786.20 mg GAE/100 g and 15.77 g/100 g, respectively. Chlorogenic acid and gallic acid were the major phenolic compounds (109.3 mg/g). Whilst, linoleic acid, oleic acid, and arachidic acid (85.34%) were the most dominant fatty acids. The most dominant amino acids were glutamic acid, phenylalanine, and arginine (29.41 g/100 g). Also, Fe and Mn as micro-elements were the most dominant elements. In general, the results illustrated the potentials and differences of black rosehip fruits grown in the Arasbaran region as promising resources for food sources, pharmaceutics, cosmetics, and breeding programs. Antibiotics, improper food, and stress have created a dysbiotic state in the gut and almost 81% of the world's population has been affected due to the pandemic of COVID-19 and the prevalence of dengue virus in the past few years. The main intent of this study is to synthesize nanosynbiotics as nu traceuticals by combining probiotics, and prebiotics with nanoformulation. The effectiveness of the nanosynbiotics was evaluated using a variety of Nutra-pharmacogenetic assays leading to an AI-integrated formulation profiling was assessed by using machine learning methods. Consequently, Acetobacter oryzoeni as a probiotic and inulin as a prebiotic has been chosen and iron-mediated nanoformulation of symbiotic is achieved. Nanosynbiotics possessed 89.4, 96.7, 93.57, 83.53, 88.53% potential powers of Nutra-pharmacogenetic assays. Artificial intelligent solid dispersion formulation of nanosynbiotics has high dissolution, absorption, distribution, and synergism, in addition, they are non-tox, non-allergen and have a docking score of − 10.83 kcal/mol, implying the best interaction with Pregnane X receptor involved in dysbiosis. The potential of nanosynbiotics to revolutionize treatment strategies through precise targeting and modulation of the gut microbiome for improved health outcomes and disease management is promising. Their transformational influence is projected to be powered by integration with modern technology and customized formulas. Recently, an increasing number of research in the field of water and sewage management concerns issues related to the increasing pollution of the aquatic environment with micropollutants from the groups of endocrine-active EDA/EDC compounds and those referred to as "emerging contaminants ECs or CECs (contaminants of emerging concern) - as pollutants" newly appearing in the environment or causing concern". These groups are not mutually exclusive and it is possible to distinguish among them such chemical compounds, which due to their properties are classified into the three mentioned groups. This paper presents an overview of literature data concerning newly identified organic micropollutants in the aquatic environment. The problem of the occurrence of pollutants of anthropogenic origin in waters is valid due to an increase in the number of identified compounds, which so far did not identified or there were no analytical possibilities to detect them. This is important from the point of view of the impact on the biocenosis of the aquatic environment as well as due to the potential contamination of the population's drinking water supply. Cytochrome P450s (CYPs) are heme‐thiolated enzymes that catalyze the oxidation of C‐H bonds in a regio‐ and stereo‐selective manner. CYPs are widely present in the biological world. With the completion of more biological genome sequencing, the number and types of P450 enzymes have increased rapidly. P450 in microorganisms is easy to clone and express, rich in catalytic types, and strong in substrate adaptability, which has good application potential. Although the number of P450 enzymes found in microorganisms is huge, the function of most of the microorganism P450s has not been studied, and it contains a large number of excellent biocatalysts to be developed. This review is based on the P450 groups in microorganisms. First, it reviews the distribution of P450 groups in different microbial species, and then studies the application of microbial P450 enzymes in the pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry and environmental pollutant treatment in recent years. And focused on the application fields of P450 enzymes of different families to guide the selection of suitable P450s from the huge P450 library. In view of the current shortcomings of microbial P450 in the application process, the final solution is the most likely to assist the application of P450 enzymes in large‐scale, that is, whole cell transformation combined with engineering, fusion P450 combined with immobilization technology. In the creation of solid dosage forms in the pharmaceutical industry, crystallization has a large impact on the properties of the payloads and matrix, such as melting point, polymorphic form, and crystallinity. Control of the crystallization of the drugs and the material in the matrix using a process of crystallization under confinement to achieve desirable properties is challenging. Emulsions allow the encapsulation of drugs for use in pharmaceutical applications. The limited volume available for crystallization under confinement in emulsions has a significant effect on the crystallization of the payloads and matrices. We discuss here advances in improving the characteristics of pharmaceutical products through the use of crystallization under confinement created by an emulsion. We also review the methods for preparing emulsions, in which the droplets act as a template for the crystallization under confinement. Human struggle against the deadly disease conditions is continued since ages. The contribution of science and technology in fighting against these diseases cannot be ignored exclusively due to the invention of novel procedure and products, extending their size ranges from micro to nano. Recently nanotechnology has been gaining more consideration for its ability to diagnose and treat different cancers. Different nanoparticles have been used to evade the issues related with conservative anticancer delivery systems, including their nonspecificity, adverse effects and burst release. These nanocarriers including, solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs), liposomes, nano lipid carriers (NLCs), nano micelles, nanocomposites, polymeric and magnetic nanocarriers, have brought revolutions in antitumor drug delivery. Nanocarriers improved the therapeutic efficacy of anticancer drugs with better accumulation at the specific site with sustained release, improved bioavailability and apoptosis of the cancer cells while bypassing the normal cells. In this review, the cancer targeting techniques and surface modification on nanoparticles are discussed briefly with possible challenges and opportunities. It can be concluded that understanding the role of nanomedicine in tumor treatment is significant, and therefore, the modern progressions in this arena is essential to be considered for a prosperous today and an affluent future of tumor patients. Natural ingredients have been used for centuries for skin treatment and care. Interest in the health effects of plants has recently increased due to their safety and applicability in the formulation of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Long-known plant materials as well as newly discovered ones are increasingly being used in natural products of plant origin. Airway mucus is a complex viscoelastic gel composed mainly of water, glycoproteins, lipids, enzymes, minerals, etc. Among them, glycoproteins are the main factors determining mucus's gel-like rheology. Airway mucus forms a protective barrier by secreting mucin, which represents a barrier for absorption, especially for more lipophilic drugs. It rapidly removes drugs from the airway through the physiological mucus clearance mechanism so drugs cannot remain in the lungs or reach the airway epithelial tissue for a long time. Significant progress has been made in enhancing drug lung deposition recently, but strategies are still needed to help drugs break through the lung mucosal barrier. Based on the physiopathological mechanisms of airway mucus, this paper reviews and summarizes strategies to enhance drug penetration and retention in the airway mucosa mediated by nano-delivery systems, including mucosal permeation systems, mucosal adhesion systems, and enzyme-modified delivery systems. On this basis, the potential and challenges of nano-delivery systems for improving airway mucus clearance are revealed. Applications of Artificial Intelligence in medical informatics solutions risk sharing have social value. At a time of ever-increasing cost for the provision of medicines to citizens, there is a need to restrain the growth of health care costs. The search for computer technologies to stop or slow down the growth of costs acquires a new very important and significant meaning. We discussed the two information technologies in pharmacotherapy and the possibility of combining and sharing them, namely the combination of risk-sharing agreements and Machine Learning, which was made possible by the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Neural networks could be used to predict the outcome to reduce the risk factors for treatment. Field-flow fractionation (FFF) is a family of single-phase separative techniques exploited to gently separate and characterize nano- and microsystems in suspension. These techniques cover an extremely wide dynamic range and are able to separate analytes in an interval between a few nm to 100 µm size-wise (over 15 orders of magnitude mass-wise). They are flexible in terms of mobile phase and can separate the analytes in native conditions, preserving their original structures/properties as much as possible. Molecular biology is the branch of biology that studies the molecular basis of biological activity, while biotechnology deals with the technological applications of biology. The areas where biotechnologies are required include industrial, agri-food, environmental, and pharmaceutical. Many species of biological interest belong to the operational range of FFF techniques, and their application to the analysis of such samples has steadily grown in the last 30 years. This work aims to summarize the main features, milestones, and results provided by the application of FFF in the field of molecular biology and biotechnology, with a focus on the years from 2000 to 2022. In the present paper, Mn/UiO-66 material was synthesized by hydrothermal process. The obtained material was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) with mapping and nitrogen adsorption/desorption techniques. The doped manganese was shown to highly disperse and might be grafted into the lattice of UiO-66. A simple, fast, and inexpensive differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) method were developed using Mn/UiO-66 as an electrode modifier for the simultaneous determination of acetaminophen (ACE) and codeine (CDE) in pharmaceutical formulations. The experimental parameters, which might affect the peak currents of ACE and CDE, such as the pH of the solution, accumulation time, and scan rate, were optimized. Under optimal conditions, this technique provided low limits of detection for the quantification of ACE and CDE, of 0.45 and 0.31 μM, respectively. The proposed DPV method was successfully applied to simultaneously determine ACE and CDE in samples of three pharmaceutical formulation with acceptable recoveries. Large-scale use of nitrofurans is associated with a number of risks related to a growing resistance to these compounds and the toxic effects following from their increasing presence in wastewater and the environment. The aim of the study was to investigate an impact of natural surfactant, saponins from Sapindus mukorossi, on antimicrobial properties of nitrofuran antibiotics. Measurements of bacterial metabolic activity indicated a synergistic bactericidal effect in samples with nitrofurantoin or furazolidone, to which saponins were added. Their addition led to more than 50% greater reduction in viable cells than in the samples without saponins. On the other hand, no toxic effect against human colon epithelial cell was observed. It was found that exposure to antibiotics and surfactants caused the cell membranes to be dominated by branched fatty acids. Moreover, the presence of saponins reduced the hydrophobicity of the cell surface making them almost completely hydrophilic. The results have confirmed a high affinity of saponins to the cells of Pseudomonas strains. Their beneficial synergistic effect on the action of antibiotics from the nitrofuran group was also demonstrated. This result opens promising prospects for the use of saponins from S. mukorossi as an adjuvant to reduce the emission of antibiotics into the environment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The latest approach to pharmaceutical quality is Quality by Design. This article introduces Pharmaceutical Quality by Design (QbD) and shows how Quality by Design is used to assure pharmaceutical quality. A description of Quality by Design is given, as well as some of its components. Each unit operation's process parameters and quality characteristics are identified. The advantages, possibilities, and steps involved in Pharmaceutical Quality by Design are outlined. The goal of pharmaceutical development is to create a high-quality product and manufacturing method that consistently delivers the product's expected performance. Quality cannot be tested into items; instead, it should be designed into them. The Quality target product profile, crucial quality traits, and major features of Quality by Design are all included. It also compares product quality based on end-of-life testing with product quality based on Quality by Design. The ICH Guidelines are the cornerstone of Quality by Design. It is based on the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) Guidelines Q8 for pharmaceutical development, Q9 for quality risk management, and Q10 for pharmaceutical quality systems. The moisture content of pharmaceutical powder is a key parameter contributing to tablet sticking during the tableting process. This study investigates powder moisture behavior during the compaction phase of the tableting process. Finite element analysis software COMSOL Multiphysics® 5.6 was used to simulate the compaction microcrystalline cellulose (VIVAPUR PH101) powder and predict temperature and moisture content distributions, as well as their evolution over time, during a single compaction. To validate the simulation, a near-infrared sensor and a thermal infrared camera were used to measure tablet surface temperature and surface moisture, respectively, just after ejection. The partial least squares regression (PLS) method was used to predict the surface moisture content of the ejected tablet. Thermal infrared camera images of the ejected tablet showed powder bed temperature increasing during compaction and a gradual rise in tablet temperature along with tableting runs. Simulation results showed that moisture evaporate from the compacted powder bed to the surrounding environment. The predicted surface moisture content of ejected tablets after compaction was higher compared to that of loose powder and decreased gradually as tableting runs increased. These observations suggest that the moisture evaporating from the powder bed accumulates at the interface between the punch and tablet surface. Evaporated water molecules can be physiosorbed on the punch surface and cause a capillary condensation locally at the punch and tablet interface during dwell time. Locally formed capillary bridge may induce a capillary force between tablet surface particles and the punch surface and cause the sticking. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease of the gums characterized by the degeneration of periodontal ligaments, the formation of periodontal pockets, and the resorption of the alveolar bone, which results in the destruction of the teeth's supporting structure. Periodontitis is caused by the growth of diverse microflora (particularly anaerobes) in the pockets, releasing toxins and enzymes and stimulating the immune system. Various approaches, both local and systemic, have been used to treat periodontitis effectively. Successful treatment depends on reducing bacterial biofilm, bleeding on probing (BOP), and reducing or eliminating pockets. Currently, the use of local drug delivery systems (LDDSs) as an adjunctive therapy to scaling and root planing (SRP) in periodontitis is a promising strategy, resulting in greater efficacy and fewer adverse effects by controlling drug release. Selecting an appropriate bioactive agent and route of administration is the cornerstone of a successful periodontitis treatment plan. In this context, this review focuses on applications of LDDSs with varying properties in treating periodontitis with or without systemic diseases to identify current challenges and future research directions. Modified polymeric gels, including nanogels, which play not only the role of a bioinert matrix, but also perform regulatory, catalytic, and transport functions due to the active fragments introduced into them, can significantly advance the solution to the problem of targeted drug delivery in an organism. This will significantly reduce the toxicity of used pharmaceuticals and expand the range of their therapeutic, diagnostic, and medical application. This review presents a comparative description of gels based on synthetic and natural polymers intended for pharmaceutical-targeted drug delivery in the field of therapy of inflammatory and infectious diseases, dentistry, ophthalmology, oncology, dermatology, rheumatology, neurology, and the treatment of intestinal diseases. An analysis was made of most actual sources published for 2021–2022. The review is focused on the comparative characteristics of polymer gels in terms of their toxicity to cells and the release rate of drugs from nano-sized hydrogel systems, which are crucial initial features for their further possible application in mentioned areas of biomedicine. Different proposed mechanisms of drug release from gels depending on their structure, composition, and application are summarized and presented. The aims of this systematic review are to explore the possibilities of using the positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) method in the pharmaceutical industry and to examine the application of PALS as a supportive, predictive method during the research process. In addition, the review aims to provide a comprehensive picture of additional medical and pharmaceutical uses, as the application of the PALS test method is limited and not widely known in this sector. We collected the scientific literature of the last 20 years (2002–2022) from several databases (PubMed, Embase, SciFinder-n, and Google Scholar) and evaluated the data gathered in relation to the combination of three directives, namely, the utilization of the PALS method, the testing of solid systems, and their application in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. The application of the PALS method is discussed based on three large groups: substances, drug delivery systems, and medical devices, starting with simpler systems and moving to more complex ones. The results are discussed based on the functionality of the PALS method, via microstructural analysis, the tracking of ageing and microstructural changes during stability testing, the examination of the effects of excipients and external factors, and defect characterization, with a strong emphasis on the benefits of this technique. The review highlights the wide range of possible applications of the PALS method as a non-invasive analytical tool for examining microstructures and monitoring changes; it can be effectively applied in many fields, alone or with complementary testing methods. Background: Metallic nanoparticles from different natural sources exhibit superior therapeutic options as compared to the conventional methods. Selaginella species have attracted special attention of researchers worldwide due to the presence of bioactive molecules such as flavonoids, biflavonoids, triterpenes, steroids, saponins, tannins and other secondary metabolites that exhibit antimicrobial, antiplasmodial, anticancer and anti-inflammatory activities. Environment friendly green synthesised silver nanoparticles from Selaginella species provide viable, safe and efficient treatment against different fungal pathogens. Objective: This systematic review aims to summarise the literature pertaining to superior antifungal ability of green synthesised silver nanoparticles using plant extracts of Selaginella spp. in comparison to both aqueous and ethanolic raw plant extracts by electronically collecting articles from databases. Methods: The recommendations of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis were taken into consideration while preparing this review. The titles and abstracts of the collected data were stored in Endnote20 based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The search strategy included literature from established sources like PubMed, Google Scholar and Retrieval System Online using subject descriptors. Results: The search yielded 60 articles with unique hits. After removal of duplications, 46 articles were identified, 40 were assessed and only seven articles were chosen and included in this review based on our eligibility criteria. Conclusion: The physicochemical and preliminary phytochemical investigations of Selaginella suggest higher drug potency of nanoparticles synthesised from plant extract against different diseases as compared to aqueous and ethanolic plant extracts. In the research, an analysis on the importance of the biological activity of lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), its benefits and application in the food and non-food industry was carried out. The objective was to identify, analyze, organize and compare information on the bioactive components of the plant species in the industry. The method used is exploratory with a documentary approach of secondary order, since a thorough search of bibliographic information of documents obtained in scientific bases that support the work was carried out. Twenty-four bioactive components and 33 constituents of essential oils were determined, in relation to the use in the industry two applications were determined: in the food area, it is used in beverages (energizing, hydrating, functional) and as a food additive (antioxidants, preservatives and flavorings) and in the non-food area in the agricultural field (insecticides, fungicide and herbicide), in the cosmetics area (perfumery, deodorants and shampoos) and in the pharmacological area (antibacterial and antifungal). It was determined that the biological components of lemongrass have been used in the food and non-food industry, elements such as myrcene, citronella, citronellol and geraniol are used because they enhance the aroma and prevent fungal and bacterial infections, citral is the element that provides functionality to foods and prevents toxicity. Attempts have been made continuously to use nano‐drug delivery system (NDDS) to improve the effect of antitumor therapy. In recent years, especially in the application of immunotherapy represented by antiprogrammed death receptor 1 (anti‐PD‐1), it has been vigorously developed. Nanodelivery systems are significantly superior in a number of aspects including increasing the solubility of insoluble drugs, enhancing their targeting ability, prolonging their half‐life, and reducing side effects. It can not only directly improve the efficacy of anti‐PD‐1 immunotherapy, but also indirectly enhance the antineoplastic efficacy of immunotherapy by boosting the effectiveness of therapeutic modalities such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, photothermal, and photodynamic therapy (PTT/PDT). Here, we summarize the studies published in recent years on the use of nanotechnology in pharmaceutics to improve the efficacy of anti‐PD‐1 antibodies, analyze their characteristics and shortcomings, and combine with the current clinical research on anti‐PD‐1 antibodies to provide a reference for the design of future nanocarriers, so as to further expand the clinical application prospects of NDDSs. Monosaccharide- and polysaccharide biopolymer-stabilized rhenium oxide nanoparticles (ReOxNPs) were effectively applied for deactivation of furazolidone (FRz) and chloramphenicol (ChRP) dissolved in solutions. The employed for that purpose monosaccharide- and polysaccharide biopolymer-stabilized ReOxNPs were synthesized in a two-step procedure. In the first step, the raw-ReOxNPs were produced using a cold atmospheric pressure plasma (CAPP)-based approach. In the second step, the raw-ReOxNPs were incorporated within either D-fructose or Arabic gum, acting as mono- and polysaccharide matrices. Optical and granulometric properties of the so-obtained stabilized ReOxNPs were revealed using several experimental techniques such as UV/Vis absorption spectrophotometry (UV/Vis), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), energy dispersive X-ray scattering (EDAX), attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR FT-IR), X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and dynamic light scattering (DLS). It was found that the produced raw-ReOxNPs, fructose-stabilized ReOxNPs, and Arabic gum-stabilized ReOxNPs were a blend of Re0 and different O-doped Re species, that were octahedral in shape and exhibited the size of 240.6, 461.8, and 7.54 nm, respectively, as was determined using DLS. The obtained ReOxNPs led to losses of FRz in 97, 91, and 62%, for raw-ReOxNPs, fructose-ReOxNPs, and Arabic-gum-stabilized ReOxNPs, respectively, as was estimated using high-performance liquid chromatography with a diode-array detector (HPLC–DAD). The applied approach led to the 100% conversion of ChRP by raw-ReOxNPs, while the saccharide-stabilized nanostructure turned out to be inefficient in reducing ChRP. Dihydromyricetin (DHM) is an important natural flavonoid that has attracted much attention because of its various functions such as protecting the cardiovascular system and liver, treating cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, and anti-inflammation effect, etc. Despite its great development potential in pharmacy, DHM has some problems in pharmaceutical applications such as low solubility, permeability, and stability. To settle these issues, extensive research has been carried out on its physicochemical properties and dosage forms to produce all kinds of DHM preparations in the past ten years. In addition, the combined use of DHM with other drugs is a promising strategy to expand the application of DHM. However, although invention patents for DHM preparations have been issued in several countries, the current transformation of DHM research results into market products is insufficient. To date, there is still a lack of deep research into the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, toxicology, and action mechanism of DHM preparations. Besides, preparations for combined therapy of DHM with other drugs are scarcely reported, which necessitates the development of dosage forms for this application. Apart from medicine, the development of DHM in the food industry is also of great potential. Due to its multiple effects and excellent safety, DHM preparations can be developed for functional drinks and foods. Through this review, we hope to draw more attention to the development potential of DHM and the above challenges and provide valuable references for the research and development of other natural products with a similar structure-activity relationship to this drug. Patients, hospitals, sensors, researchers, providers, phones, and healthcare organisations are producing enormous amounts of data in both the healthcare and drug detection sectors. The real challenge in these sectors is to find, investigate, manage, and collect information from patients in order to make their lives easier and healthier, not only in terms of formulating new therapies and understanding diseases, but also to predict the results at earlier stages and make effective decisions. The volumes of data available in the fields of pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutics are constantly increasing. These increases are driven by advances in technology, which allow for the analysis of ever-larger data sets. Big Data (BD) has the potential to transform drug development and safety testing by providing new insights into the effects of drugs on human health. However, harnessing this potential involves several challenges, including the need for specialised skills and infrastructure. In this survey, we explore how BD approaches are currently being used in the pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutics fields; in particular, we highlight how researchers have applied BD in pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutics to address various challenges and establish solutions. A comparative analysis helps to trace the implementation of big data in the fields of pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutics. Certain relevant limitations and directions for future research are emphasised. The pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutics fields are still at an early stage of BD adoption, and there are many research challenges to be overcome, in order to effectively employ BD to address specific issues. The article presents a study which investigated the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on medication safety by comparing the prescribed medications to older adults before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics include the prevalence of polypharmacy after the outbreak, implication of the observed reduction in the number of older patients per pharmacy, and comparison of medications before and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Essential oils are composed of some natural, volatile, as well as aromatic compounds extracted from plants. In recent years, several studies have shown that some of their benefits can be attributed to their antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and also immunomodulatory properties. So, essential oils have been proposed as a common elective to anti-microbials or for utilize in combination with other antimicrobials against multidrug-resistant microscopic organisms. Most of the potential data about essential oils were obtained with in vitro and in vivo studies. Several types of essential oils are available in Indonesia which are reported to have biological activity such as antioxidants and antiaging are essential oils of pine (Pinus merkusii), kilemo (Litsea cubeba), agarwood (Aquilaria spp), eucalyptus (Eucalyptus citriodora), and cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmanii). The major chemical compound of pine oil is alpha pinene. Kilemo oil contains geranial. chemical marker compound of agarwood is chromone and sesquiterpenes. Eucalyptus contains citronella. The chemical component of cinnamon oil is cinnamaldehyde. Some essential oils have shown remarkable antioxidant activities when used at specific concentrations which can be due to their richness in phenolic compounds. However, toxicological studies are needed before any recommendation for application can be given. Preformulating and formulation studies will be needed to develop suitable dosage forms in order to introduce optimized pharmaceuticals (high active, low toxic) as alternative of current pharmaceutical dosage forms. In the twenty-first century, the RDP (redispersible powder) has become the critical ingredient in various sectors and has numerous applications in day to day life. RDP is a free-flowing, white powder obtained by spray drying of an aqueous dispersion. Commercially available polymeric admixtures are classified into polymer dispersion, redispersible polymer powder (RDPP), water-soluble polymers, and liquid polymers. RDPP is a polymer emulsion that is converted to RDP by high temperature and pressure followed by spray drying and surface treatment to powdered thermoplastic resin material. Today, the demand for RDP is increasing in various fields due to their desirable change in properties after their addition with different products. High-grade RDP is manufactured via the various monomers so that the efficiency of RDP increases for the application purpose. RDPP is synthesized via polymerization and spray drying technique which has applications in concrete–polymer composite/polymer-modified mortar and concrete. The different types of latex-based RDP known are a copolymer of ethylene–vinyl acetate (EVA), a terpolymer of ethylene/vinyl chloride/vinyl laurate (E/VC/VL), terpolymer of vinyl acetate/ethylene/vinyl ester of versatic acid (VAc/E/VeoVa), acrylate copolymer, polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) polymer, styrene–butadiene rubber (SBR), etc. The current paper audits the standards process technology for RDP, the past significant importance and historical backgrounds, recent and future developments and advancement of concrete–polymer composite, and normalization work on concrete–polymer composites. The core–shell morphology of RDP in polymer cement waterproof mortar is also discussed in this paper. In the construction field, polymer-modified cement (hydraulic) mixtures are used due to their unique properties. As new inventions have been done in the area of RDPP, it is investigated that polymer film formation in cement mortars modified with water-soluble RDPP also occurs. The effect of RDPP concentration on the initial and final setting time of cement mortars plays a significant role in this field. Furthermore, the amalgamation of nanotechnology with RDP synthesis has boosted the applications of RDP in various other fields. RDP has played a vital role in the field of medicine, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. In the food industry, RDP is used to increase storage ability, durability, and product properties. The review paper covers all the stages in RDP/RDPP synthesis from the year 1999 to 2021. The different techniques for synthesizing high-quality and efficient RDP have been reviewed here. The paper gives a complete overlook of trends in applications of RDP over the period. Objectives The traditional manufacturing methods of solid oral dosage forms (SODFs) are reported to be time-consuming, highly expensive and not tailored to the patient's needs. Three-dimensional printing (3DP) is an innovative emerging technology that can help to overcome these issues. The aim of this review is to describe the most employed 3DP technologies, materials and the state of the art on 3DP SODFs. Characterization techniques of 3DP SODFs, challenges and regulatory issues are also discussed. Key findings The interest in the investigation of the suitability of 3DP as an alternative strategy for the fabrication of SODFs is growing. Different 3DP technologies and starting materials have been investigated for the development of SODFs. Numerous SODFs with complex geometries and composition, and with different release patterns, have been successfully manufactured via 3DP. Despite that, just one 3DP SODF has reached the market. Summary 3DP can be a promising alternative to the classical SODFs manufacturing methods. Nanomedicine is among the most fascinating areas of research. Most of the newly discovered pharmaceutical polymorphs, as well as many new synthesized or isolated natural products, appear only in form of nanocrystals. The development of techniques that allow investigating the atomic structure of nanocrystalline materials is therefore one of the most important frontiers of crystallography. Some unique features of electrons, like their non‐neutral charge and their strong interaction with matter, make this radiation suitable for imaging and detecting individual atoms, molecules, or nanoscale objects down to sub‐angstrom resolution. In the recent years the development of three‐dimensional (3D) electron diffraction (3D ED) has shown that electron diffraction can be successfully used to solve the crystal structure of nanocrystals and most of its limiting factors like dynamical scattering or limited completeness can be easily overcome. This article is a review of the state of the art of this method with a specific focus on how it can be applied to beam sensitive samples like small‐molecule organic nanocrystals. Among the four pharmacological component subjects: "pharmaceuticsH, npharmacokineticsn, "pharmacodynamics", and "clinical pharmacology (pharmacotherapy, applied pharmacology)H, in clinical pharmacology targeting diseases and applicable drugs, drugs/diseases are selected as "drugs from diseases" instead of "diseases from drugs" based on the following four taxonomies. Clinical pharmacology consists of diseases and applicable drugs classified and selected by either clinical departments, organs, symptoms, or specialized education subjects, or by their combination. The other three subjects of pharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics are created by combining drugs for explain the basic contents of each subject and diseases/drugs classified and selected in clinical pharmacology. Pharmacology component subjects are learned in the following order: "pharmaceutics", "pharmacokinetics'1, "pharmacodynamics", and "clinical pharmacology (pharmacotherapy, applied pharmacology)M. Purpose: This study aims to examine and validate the role of electronic word of mouth (eWOM), a mediating factor between the marketing mix elements (product, price, place and promotion) and women's purchasing intention of children's dietary supplements in the Jordanian environment culture context. Design/methodology/approach: The data of the research was collected through online and offline questionnaires using a connivance sample of 370 women who have children and live in Amman, the largest city in Jordan. Findings: The findings showed a partial effect of the eWOM as mediating factor on the relationship between marketing mix elements and women's purchasing intention of children's dietary supplements. The findings also revealed significant positive effects of price and place as marketing mix elements on women's purchasing intention of children's dietary supplements, while the product and promotion elements were found insignificant. Originality/value: This paper contributed to consumer buying behaviour theories by filling a gap in the literature regarding the role of eWOM as a mediating factor on the relationship between marketing mix elements and women's purchasing intention of children's dietary supplements in a developing country like Jordan for the first time. Formulation is an ancient concept, although the word has been used only recently. The first formulations made our civilization advance by inventing bronze, steel, and gunpowder; then, it was used in medieval alchemy. When chemistry became a science and with the golden age of organic synthesis, the second formulation period began. This made it possible to create new chemical species and new combinations "à la carte." However, the research and developments were still carried out by trial and error. Finally, the third period of formulation history began after World War II, when the properties of a system were associated with its ingredients and the way they were assembled or combined. Therefore, the formulation and the systems' phenomenology were related to the generation of some synergy to obtain a commercial product. Winsor's formulation studies in the 1950s were enlightening for academy and industries that were studying empirically surfactant-oil-water (SOW) systems. One of its key characteristics was how the interfacial interaction of the adsorbed surfactant with oil and water phases could be equal by varying the physicochemical formulation of the system. Then, Hansen's solubility parameter in the 1960s helped to reach a further understanding of the affinity of some substances to make them suitable to oil and water phases. In the 1970s, researchers such as Shinoda and Kunieda, and different groups working in Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), among them Schechter and Wade's group at the University of Texas, made formulation become a science by using semiempirical correlations to attain specific characteristics in a system (e.g., low oil-water interfacial tension, formulation of a stable O/W or W/O emulsion, or high-performance solubilization in a bicontinuous microemulsion system at the so-called optimum formulation). Nowadays, over 40 years of studies with the hydrophilic-lipophilic deviation equation (HLD) have made it feasible for formulators to improve products in many different applications using surfactants to attain a target system using HLD in its original or its normalized form, i.e., HLDN. Thus, it can be said that there is still current progress being made towards an interdisciplinary applied science with numerical guidelines. In the present work, the state-of-the-art of formulation in multiphase systems containing two immiscible phases like oil and water, and therefore systems with heterogeneous or micro-heterogeneous interfaces, is discussed. Surfactants, from simple to complex or polymeric, are generally present in such systems to solve a wide variety of problems in many areas. Some significant cases are presented here as examples dealing with petroleum, foods, pharmaceutics, cosmetics, detergency, and other products occurring as dispersions, emulsions, or foams that we find in our everyday lives.
