Poly (ADP‐ribose) Polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) have demonstrated remarkable clinical efficacy in treating ovarian cancer (OV) with BRCA1/2 mutations. However, drug resistance inevitably limits their clinical applications and there is an urgent need for improved therapeutic strategies to enhance the clinical utility of PARPi, such as Olaparib. Here, compelling evidence indicates that sensitivity of PARPi is associated with cell cycle dysfunction. Through high‐throughput drug screening with a cell cycle kinase inhibitor library, XL413, a potent cell division cycle 7 (CDC7) inhibitor, is identified which can synergistically enhance the anti‐tumor efficacy of Olaparib. Mechanistically, the combined administration of XL413 and Olaparib demonstrates considerable DNA damage and DNA replication stress, leading to increased sensitivity to Olaparib. Additionally, a robust type‐I interferon response is triggered through the induction of the cGAS/STING signaling pathway. Using murine syngeneic tumor models, the combination treatment further demonstrates enhanced antitumor immunity, resulting in tumor regression. Collectively, this study presents an effective treatment strategy for patients with advanced OV by combining CDC7 inhibitors (CDC7i) and PARPi, offering a promising therapeutic approach for patients with limited response to PARPi. Many of the world's less developed regions may not be able to improve the well-being of rural residents through agricultural revitalization because of their remoteness from agricultural markets. Using the county-level data set of China's underdeveloped old revolutionary base areas from 2010 to 2021, this paper takes the policy planning of rural e-commerce as event intervention to investigate the driving role of the digital product market on agricultural economic development. Empirical results show that rural e-commerce planning policy has significantly promoted the agricultural added value of the pilot counties, and the digital market is the key driving factor of the agricultural economic growth in these underdeveloped areas. Both food production and livestock output have increased significantly as a result of e-commerce policies. Considering the potential bias of the bidirectional fixed effect estimators of staggered differences-in-differences (DID), this study uses heterogeneous robust estimators to verify the growth effect of the agricultural economy. Specifically, digital agricultural markets have significantly promoted agricultural mechanization and significantly improved agricultural total factor productivity. Moreover, empirical evidence does not support transmission mechanisms for off-farm employment and agricultural entrepreneurship. The findings can help less developed countries and regions develop policies to expand the agricultural markets with digital dividends, thereby promoting the development of the agricultural economy. Global warming can inhibit chlorophyll-based solar energy capturing of phytoplankton by decreasing nutrient supply through upwelling. However, species with proton-pump rhodopsin (PPR) can independently convert solar energy to cope with nutrient limitation. Besides prokaryotes, PPR has been documented in dinoflagellates and some species of other algal lineages, and its potential role in compensating for the deficiency of phosphorus has been demonstrated in dinoflagellates. However, PPR has not been studied in the coral reef endosymbiotic Symbiodiniaceae. Here, we report a PPR in Breviolum minutum (BmR). Both phylogenetic analysis and structure prediction results indicate that BmR resembles eukaryotic proton-pump rhodopsins, phylogenetically affiliated with the subgroup xanthorhodopsins. BmR contains the critical residues for proton pumping, retinal binding, and spectrum tuning for green absorption. To explore BmR's potential roles in responding to phosphorus limitation, we cultured B. minutum under different phosphorus conditions, and monitored physiological and BmR's transcriptional responses. Phosphorus limitation caused decreases in B. minutum population growth and photosynthesis efficiency. Meanwhile, our quantitative PCR showed that BmR expression was strongly upregulated under phosphorus limitation, showing a strong positive correlation with alkaline phosphatase activity and a negative correlation with photosynthetic efficiency. Our findings demonstrate that proton-pump rhodopsin occurs in Symbiodiniaceae and BmR has the potential to provide supplementary energy to support cell basal metabolisms when photosynthesis of B. minutum is impaired by phosphorus limitation, thereby enabling corals to better weather climate change. Objective: To determine the association between the preoperative Bioenergetic Health Index (BHI) of platelets and the occurrence of postoperative delirium (POD) in elderly patients. Methods: Elderly patients scheduled for major abdominal surgery under general anesthesia were included. The presence of POD was assessed within the 3 days after surgery. Seahorse XF analysis and transmission electron microscopy were utilized to evaluate the mitochondrial metabolism and morphology of platelets. Results: A total of 20 out of 162 participants developed POD. Participants with POD showed lower preoperative Mini‐Mental State Examination scores and total protein levels, fewer educational years, longer surgery duration, higher mean platelet volume, and lower platelet BHI compared with those without POD. Damaged mitochondria with swollen appearance and distorted cristae was detected in platelets from participants with POD. Preoperative platelet BHI was independently associated with the occurrence of POD after adjusting for age, education, preoperative Mini‐Mental State Examination score, preoperative mean platelet volume and total protein levels, surgical type and duration, and lymphocyte counts on the first postoperative day (OR 0.11, 95% CI 0.03–0.37, p < 0.001). The areas under the receiver operating curves for predicting POD were 0.83 (95% CI 0.76–0.88) for platelet BHI. It showed a sensitivity of 85.00% and specificity of 73.24%, with an optimal cutoff value of 1.61. Using a serial combination (mean platelet volume followed by BHI) yielded a sensitivity of 80.00% and specificity of 82.39%. Interpretation: Preoperative platelet BHI was independently associated with the occurrence of POD in elderly patients and has the potential as a screening biomarker for POD risk. Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an idiopathic chronic intestinal inflammation. An increasing body of evidence shows that macrophages play an important role in the pathogenesis of UC. Interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4) is crucial for the development of autoimmune diseases via regulating immune cells. This research was designed to explore the function of IRF4 in UC and its association with macrophage polarization. The in vitro model of UC was established by stimulating colonic epithelial cells with tumor necrosis factor α (TNF‐α). A mouse model of UC was constructed by injecting C57BL/6 mice with dextran sulfate sodium salt. Flow cytometry was used to assess percentage of CD11b+CD86+ and CD11b+CD206+ cells in bone marrow macrophages. Occult blood tests were used to detect hematochezia. Hematoxylin and eosin staining assay was used to assess colon pathological changes. Enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect concentrations of inflammatory cytokines. The interaction of IRF4 and B‐cell lymphoma 6 (Bcl6) was confirmed using GST pull‐down and coimmunoprecipitation assays. Our findings revealed that IRF4 promoted cell apoptosis and stimulated M1 macrophage polarization in vitro. Furthermore, IRF4 aggravated symptoms of the mouse model of UC and aggravated M1 macrophage polarization in vivo. IRF4 negatively regulated Bcl6 expression. Downregulation of Bcl6 promoted apoptosis and M1 macrophage polarization in the presence of IRF4 in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, Bcl6 positively mediated the Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling pathway. In conclusion, IRF4 aggravated UC progression through promoting M1 macrophage polarization via Bcl6/JAK2/STAT3 pathway. Objective: This study aimed to analyze myocardial work in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) using a noninvasive pressure strain loop (PSL) technique to provide a basis for the quantitative assessment of left ventricular (LV) systolic function. Methods: LV myocardial work of 107 AF patients (56 with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and 51 with persistent atrial fibrillation) and 55 healthy individuals were assessed by the noninvasive PSL and then compared. Results: Global longitudinal strain (GLS) in absolute values, global work index (GWI), global constructive work (GCW), and global work efficiency (GWE) were significantly lower in the AF group than control group, whereas peak strain dispersion (PSD) and global wasted work (GWW) were significantly higher (P <.05). Further subdivision according to the AF type revealed that, compared with the controls, GLS in absolute values and GWE decreased significantly; PSD and GWW increased significantly in the paroxysmal AF group (P <.05). Nevertheless, GWI and GCW were not significantly different between paroxysmal AF and control groups (P >.05). Compared to paroxysmal AF, persistent AF induced a further decrease in absolute GLS and GWE and a further increase in GWW (P <.05), but PSD did not increase further (P >.05). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that GWI and GCW were independently associated with systolic blood pressure. GWW was associated with types of AF and left atrial volume index (LAVI). GWE was correlated with age, types of AF, disease duration, and LAVI. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed that the area under the curve predicting myocardial injury was higher for GWE and GWW than for GLS (area under the curve:.880,.846, and.821, respectively). Conclusions: Non‐invasive PSL can quantitatively assess LV systolic function in patients with different kinds of AF and detect early subclinical myocardial injury in patients with paroxysmal AF. GWE and GWW outperform GLS and LV ejection fraction when assessing myocardial injury. The intervention process for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is inextricably associated with their parents' mental health problems, such as hopelessness, which may adversely affect resilience and indirectly impact the effectiveness of interventions for their children. Hence, the motivation to help parents of children with ASD reduce hopelessness prompted us to conduct the present study and explore the interrelationship between hopelessness symptoms and resilience. This study evaluated hopelessness and resilience using the Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS) and the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (CD‐RISC). Participants met the criteria for their children's ASD diagnosis by a psychiatrist (N = 448; 54.69% mothers; Meanage = 34.59 years, SDage = 4.94 years). Moreover, we used symptom network analysis to examine the variability in network structure between fathers and mothers. The flow function was applied to examine which hopelessness symptoms were directly or indirectly associated with resilience. The results showed that #BHS11 (i.e., unpleasantness‐ahead) was the central symptom found in the network structure for all parents and fathers, while #BHS17 (i.e., no‐future‐satisfaction) was the central symptom in the network structure for mothers. Additionally, #BHS6 ([NOT] expect‐to‐succeed) was directly and positively associated with resilience in all three network structures (i.e., all parents, fathers, and mothers). The results of the present study provide evidence that influential symptoms should be addressed and offer guidance for further interventions to reduce hopelessness and enhance resilience among parents of children with ASD. Typical (peridinin-containing) dinoflagellates possess plastid genomes composed of small plasmids named "minicircles". Despite the ecological importance of dinoflagellate photosynthesis in corals and marine ecosystems, the structural characteristics, replication dynamics, and evolutionary forcing of dinoflagellate plastid genomes remain poorly understood. Here, we sequenced the plastid genome of the symbiodiniacean species Fugacium kawagutii and conducted comparative analyses. We identified psbT -coding minicircles, features previously not found in Symbiodiniaceae. The copy number of F. kawagutii minicircles showed a strong diel dynamics, changing between 3.89 and 34.3 copies/cell and peaking in mid-light period. We found that F. kawagutii minicircles are the shortest among all dinoflagellates examined to date. Besides, the core regions of the minicircles are highly conserved within genus in Symbiodiniaceae. Furthermore, the codon usage bias of the plastid genomes in Heterocapsaceae, Amphidiniaceae, and Prorocentraceae species are greatly influenced by selection pressure, and in Pyrocystaceae, Symbiodiniaceae, Peridiniaceae, and Ceratiaceae species are influenced by both natural selection pressure and mutation pressure, indicating a family-level distinction in codon usage evolution in dinoflagellates. Phylogenetic analysis using 12 plastid-encoded proteins and five nucleus-encoded plastid proteins revealed accelerated evolution trend of both plastid- and nucleus-encoded plastid proteins in peridinin- and fucoxanthin-dinoflagellate plastids compared to plastid proteins of nondinoflagellate algae. These findings shed new light on the structure and evolution of plastid genomes in dinoflagellates, which will facilitate further studies on the evolutionary forcing and function of the diverse dinoflagellate plastids. The present lithium‐ion battery technology competition almost focuses on finding new materials, while less effort is invested in electrode engineering improvement with low‐cost. This study proposes a simple method of modulating the preferred orientation of crystal phases in LiCoO2 electrode using a ≈500 mT magnetic‐field, cheaply and efficiently improving the performance of LiCoO2||graphite pouch full batteries, including cycling stability, rate performance, and thermal safety performance. Under 3.0 C and 45 °C strict test conditions, LiCoO2‐M⊥||graphite battery even outputs the capacity retention rate of 42.8% after 1000 cycles, while that of pure‐LiCoO2 battery is only 4.4%. Especially, the thermal runaway temperature of the battery needling experiment decreases by considerable 7.7 °C after magnetic‐field modulation. Comprehensive characterizations reveal that vertical magnetic field causes spin alignment of LiCoO2 crystals along the (003) direction. This arrangement effectively improves the Li+ diffusion dynamic and the interface compatibility of the electrode, suppressing the electrode polarization. During the cycling processes, the preferred orientation of LiCoO2 particles forms an enhanced conductive network due to the formation of cross‐linked "Li+ poor regions" on the surface, ultimately achieving significant performance improvement. In the natural habitats of China, dauciform roots were only described in degraded alpine meadows. It was found that the presence of dauciform roots of Carex filispica was related to the advantage of multiple functional traits after trampling, reflecting short‐term resistance. However, the long‐term response of dauciform roots to trampling and the recovery of C. filispica with and without dauciform roots to trampling require further studies. In this study, different intensities of trampling (0, 50, 200 and 500 passages) were performed in an alpine meadow. One year later, individuals with and without dauciform roots were separated and their functional traits related to the economic spectrum of leaves and roots were measured as a reflection of recovery from trampling. The results showed that: (1) 1 year after trampling, the number of dauciform roots showed an increase with trampling intensity; (2) 1 year later, there was no significant difference in the response of economic spectrum traits among trampling intensities, or between plants with and without dauciform roots; (3) the number of dauciform roots was positively correlated with the leaf area of both individuals with and without dauciform roots, as well as with the biomass of those without dauciform roots; and (4) plants with more resource‐conservative roots showed an advantage after trampling recovery: specifically, plants with dauciform roots showed such an advantage in the control group, which was lost with a leaning towards resource‐acquisitive roots and an increased density of dauciform roots once trampled. In contrast, plants without dauciform roots showed a significant advantage of conservative roots only after trampling. In conclusion, the presence of dauciform roots is related to the plants' position on the root economic spectrum, thereby influencing the recovery of C. filispica from trampling. Carex filispica showed strong recovery from trampling after 1 year, which makes it an adequate choice for ecological restoration in alpine meadows. Dauciform roots showed a positive correlation with the aboveground growth of both plants with and without them, however, it requires a lab‐controlled study to confirm whether there is indeed a positive effect on the growth of neighbouring plants. Multistatic airborne SAR (MuA-SAR) benefits from the ability to flexibly adjust the positions of multiple transmitters and receivers in space, which can shorten the synthetic aperture time to achieve the required resolution. To ensure both imaging efficiency and quality of different system spatial configurations and trajectories, the fast factorized back projection (FFBP) algorithm is proposed. However, if the FFBP algorithm based on polar coordinates is directly applied to the MuA-SAR system, the interpolation in the recursive fusion process will bring the problem of redundant calculations and error accumulation, leading to a sharp decrease in imaging efficiency and quality. In this paper, a unified Cartesian fast factorized back projection (UCFFBP) algorithm with a multi-level regional attention strategy is proposed for MuA-SAR fast imaging. First, a global Cartesian coordinate system (GCCS) is established. Through designing the rotation mapping matrix and phase compensation factor, data from different bistatic radar pairs can be processed coherently and efficiently. In addition, a multi-level regional attention strategy based on maximally stable extremal regions (MSER) is proposed. In the recursive fusion process, only the suspected target regions are paid more attention and segmented for coherent fusion at each fusion level, which further improves efficiency. The proposed UCFFBP algorithm ensures both the quality and efficiency of MuA-SAR imaging. Simulation experiments verified the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To investigate the role of hepatocyte growth factor and its receptor c-Met (HGF/ c-Met) signaling pathway in early follicular development in mice via detecting the expression of HGF/c-Met in early mouse ovarian tissue and then analyze the biological process of HGF/c-Met signaling pathway and its possible involvement in intracellular signaling pathways by using bioinformatics for the purpose of further studying the molecular mechanism of the signaling pathway in the early follicle development. Methods. Thirty-five female Kunming mice and 15 male ones were fed in 15 cages with the female-to-male ratio of 2,1. The ovaries of mice at 3, 7, 14 and 21 days after birth were collected. Immunohistochemical staining and Western blotting were applied to detect the expression levels of HGF and c-Met protein in the ovarian tissues. Quantitative Real-time PCR,q-PCR, was used to detect the expression levels of HGF and C-Met mRNA in the early ovarian tissues of mice. Results, HGF and c-Met proteins were expressed in the ovarian tissues of the mice at 3, 7, 14 and 21 days, presenting an increasing trend with the increase of age by day,P < 0.05,. The mRNA levels of HGF and c-Met also showed the same trend,P < 0.05,. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that the HGF/c-Met signaling pathway involved in a variety of biological processes and signaling pathways such as PI3K/AKT. Conclusions,HGF/c-Met signaling pathway is involved in early follicular development in mice. Background: The availability of physical activity (PA) facilities in neighborhoods is hypothesized to influence cardiovascular disease (CVD), but evidence from individual-level long-term cohort studies is limited. We aimed to assess the association between neighborhood exposure to PA facilities and CVD incidence. Methods: A total of 4658 participants from the Chinese Multi-provincial Cohort Study without CVD at baseline (2007–2008) were followed for the incidence of CVD, coronary heart disease (CHD), and stroke. Availability of PA facilities was defined as both the presence and the density of PA facilities within a 500-m buffer zone around the participants' residential addresses. Time-dependent Cox regression models were performed to estimate the associations between the availability of PA facilities and risks of incident CVD, CHD, and stroke. Results: During a median follow-up of 12.1 years, there were 518 CVD events, 188 CHD events, and 355 stroke events. Analyses with the presence indicator revealed significantly lower risks of CVD (hazard ratio [HR] 0.80, 95% confidence interval ([CI] 0.65–0.99) and stroke (HR 0.76, 95% CI 0.60–0.97) in participants with PA facilities in the 500-m buffer zone compared with participants with no nearby facilities in fully adjusted models. In analyses with the density indicator, exposure to 2 and ≥ 3 PA facilities was associated with 35% (HR 0.65, 95% CI 0.47–0.91) and 28% (HR 0.72, 95% CI 0.56–0.92) lower risks of CVD and 40% (HR 0.60, 95% CI 0.40–0.90) and 38% (HR 0.62, 95% CI 0.46–0.84) lower risks of stroke compared with those without any PA facilities in 500-m buffer, respectively. Effect modifications between presence of PA facilities and a history of hypertension for incident stroke (P = 0.049), and a history of diabetes for incident CVD (P = 0.013) and stroke (P = 0.009) were noted. Conclusions: Residing in neighborhoods with better availability of PA facilities was associated with a lower risk of incident CVD. Conventional monostatic SAR or DBS technology cannot realize forward-looking imaging due to Doppler symmetry ambiguity. Although the ambiguity can be resolved using multiple channels in azimuth, its azimuth resolution in the vicinity of flight path is usually poor due to the small angle variation. To solve the above problems, a hybrid real/synthetic aperture scheme for multichannel radar forward-looking imaging is proposed in this letter. In the scheme, the synthetic aperture imaging result with left/right ambiguity is obtained first using the information of platform motion. Then the real aperture superresolution imaging with regularized iterative adaptive approach (RIAA) is achieved using the instantaneous data of multiple channels. Finally, the two imaging results are fused to obtain the forward-looking superresolution image without left/right ambiguity. Multiview high-resolution range profiles (HRRPs) of aerial targets contain more target information than single-view one and will benefit accurate classification. However, feature information in HRRPs dynamically varies across different views, thus a dynamic classification framework is required to adjust the structure of the network along with the feature information variations and effectively make full use of those multiview features. To this end, we propose a dynamic-structure neural network (DSNN) with skip extraction and adaptive fusion blocks to adjust the network structure and adaptively fuse multiview features, enabling accurate aerial target HRRPs classification. In the skip extraction block, the skip gate automatically changes the block depth of each view to fit feature information variations, which ensures multiview HRRP features are dynamically exploited and extracted by the network. Then, in the adaptive fusion block, features from different views are weighted by the adaptive weight gate and effectively fused using associated attention, which further contributes to the classification. Besides, since the skip gate dynamically downsizes the extraction block for some views, the computational cost of DSNN is also reduced to some extent. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method has superior aerial target multiview HRRPs classification performance and computational efficiency over other state-of-the-art methods. Sparse superresolution algorithms have been applied in scanning radar imaging to improve its azimuth resolution. However, the inverse matrix in each iteration is usually diagonal loading by the updating result, which leads to huge computational complexity for 2-D echo data. In this letter, a batch-processing superresolution framework is proposed to process the echo data in parallel. On the one hand, the optimization problem for sparse target recovery is modified as matrix form, which presents the batch-processing potential for 2-D echo data. On the other hand, the optimization problem is solved by the proposed alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM)-based batch-processing framework, which can avoid high-dimensional matrix inversion along different range bins. Existing synthetic aperture radar automatic target recognition (SAR ATR) methods have been effective for the classification of seen target classes. However, it is more meaningful and challenging to distinguish the unseen target classes, i.e., open set recognition (OSR) problem, which is an urgent problem for the practical SAR ATR. The key solution of OSR is to effectively establish the exclusiveness of feature distribution of known classes. In this letter, we propose an entropy-awareness meta-learning method that improves the exclusiveness of feature distribution of known classes which means our method is effective for not only classifying the seen classes but also encountering the unseen other classes. Through meta-learning tasks, the proposed method learns to construct a feature space of the dynamic-assigned known classes. This feature space is required by the tasks to reject all other classes not belonging to the known classes. At the same time, the proposed entropy-awareness loss helps the model to enhance the feature space with effective and robust discrimination between the known and unknown classes. Therefore, our method can construct a dynamic feature space with discrimination between the known and unknown classes to simultaneously classify the dynamic-assigned known classes and reject the unknown classes. To evaluate whether the fetal fraction of cell-free DNA at the first and second trimesters is associated with spontaneous preterm birth. This was a retrospective cohort study with singleton pregnancies who underwent noninvasive prenatal testing. According to pregnancy outcome, eligible patients were divided into a delivery group ≥37 weeks of pregnancy (term group) and <37 weeks of pregnancy (spontaneous preterm group). Stepwise linear regression was used to identify maternal characteristics associated with the fetal fraction of cell‐free DNA. Logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate the association between the fetal fraction of cell-free DNA and spontaneous preterm birth, adjusted for confounding factors. 14,020 cases were included in the study, 13292 cases (94.81%) in the term group and 728 cases (5.19%) in the spontaneous preterm group. The cell-free fraction of fetal DNA was inversely correlated with maternal age and body mass index. Positively correlated with gestational age, fertility, and assisted reproductive technology. After adjusting for the covariates, logistic regression analysis revealed no statistically significant association between the fetal fraction of cell-free DNA and spontaneous preterm birth. Carex heterostachya and Carex breviculmis are easy to develop lawns in a short period while taking on high ornamental significance in northwest China where summer temperatures are high, rainfall is uneven, and soil is scarce. Several questions were raised, which are elucidated as follows: what type of plant functional characteristic has they formed for long-term survival and adaptation to this environment; which plant is more adaptable; which leaf functional characteristic are critical to photosynthetic characteristics. The following conclusions were drawn based on the exploration of the leaf functional characteristic of the two plants using gas exchange technology and field emission electron scanning technology: (a) C. breviculmis refers to a slow investment-return plant, exhibiting strong environmental adaptability and plasticity, and it is resistant to barrenness, drought, and shade. C. heterostachya refers to a type of quick investment-return plant, with high photosynthetic efficiency, well-developed transport tissue, and relatively shade-tolerant. The soil with low water content and poorer soil applies to C. breviculmis cultivation, and C. heterostachya applies to cultivation in the environment with sufficient light and rich nutrients. Moreover, C. breviculmis and C. heterostachya can be adopted to enrich the diversity of understory landscape. (b) Carex exhibits strong environmental adaptability, large variation in eco-physiological characteristics, as well as strong plasticity. Leaf anatomical characteristics are stable, whereas differences exist in the interspecific variability and plasticity. (c) when the genus Carex grew in the semi-shade and the soil environment was arid, specific leaf area (SLA) can become the main factor for the photosynthetic availability of Carex, the thickness of the stratum corneum, the thickness of the upper serve as secondary factors. Background: Ubiquitin‐mediated degradation of the Mas‐related G protein‐coupled receptor C (MrgC) reduces the number of receptors. However, the specific deubiquitinating enzyme antagonize this process has not been reported. In this study, we investigated the effect of ubiquitin‐specific protease‐48 (USP48) on bone cancer pain (BCP) and its effect on MrgC. Methods: A mouse model of BCP was established. BCP behaviours of mice were assessed after intrathecal injection of adeno‐associated virus (AAV)‐USP48. USP48 and MrgC interactions were studied by immunoprecipitation. Overexpression and knockdown of USP48 were conducted in N2a cells to investigate the effect of USP48 on MrgC receptor number and ubiquitination. Results: Spinal cord level USP48 expression was reduced in mice with BCP. Intrathecal injection of AAV‐USP48 increased paw withdrawal mechanical threshold and reduced spontaneous flinching in mice. In N2a cells, there were increased number of MrgC receptors after overexpression of USP48 and decreased number of MrgC receptors after knockdown of USP48. USP48 interacted with MrgC and overexpression of USP48 altered the level of ubiquitination of MrgC. Conclusion: USP48 antagonizes ubiquitin‐mediated autophagic degradation of MrgC and alleviates BCP in a murine animal model. Our findings may provide a new perspective for the treatment of BCP. The assessment of bone age is important for evaluating child development, optimizing the treatment for endocrine diseases, etc. And the well-known Tanner-Whitehouse (TW) clinical method improves the quantitative description of skeletal development based on setting up a series of distinguishable stages for each bone individually. However, the assessment is affected by rater variability, which makes the assessment result not reliable enough in clinical practice. The main goal of this work is to achieve a reliable and accurate skeletal maturity determination by proposing an automated bone age assessment method called PEARLS, which is based on the TW3-RUS system (analysis of the radius, ulna, phalanges, and metacarpal bones). The proposed method comprises the point estimation of anchor (PEA) module for accurately localizing specific bones, the ranking learning (RL) module for producing a continuous stage representation of each bone by encoding the ordinal relationship between stage labels into the learning process, and the scoring (S) module for outputting the bone age directly based on two standard transform curves. The development of each module in PEARLS is based on different datasets. Finally, corresponding results are presented to evaluate the system performance in localizing specific bones, determining the skeletal maturity stage, and assessing the bone age. The mean average precision of point estimation is 86.29%, the average stage determination precision is 97.33% overall bones, and the average bone age assessment accuracy is 96.8% within 1 year for the female and male cohorts. Background: Enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2), the key catalytic subunit of polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2), is overexpressed and plays an oncogenic role in various cancers through catalysis-dependent or catalysis-independent pathways. However, the related mechanisms contributing to ovarian cancer (OC) are not well understood. Methods: The levels of EZH2 and H3K27me3 were evaluated in 105 OC patients by immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining, and these patients were stratified based on these levels. Canonical and noncanonical binding sites of EZH2 were defined by chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing (ChIP-Seq). The EZH2 solo targets were obtained by integrative analysis of ChIP-Seq and RNA sequencing data. In vitro and in vivo experiments were performed to determine the role of EZH2 in OC growth. Results: We showed that a subgroup of OC patients with high EZH2 expression but low H3K27me3 exhibited the worst prognosis, with limited therapeutic options. We demonstrated that induction of EZH2 degradation but not catalytic inhibition profoundly blocked OC cell proliferation and tumorigenicity in vitro and in vivo. Integrative analysis of genome-wide chromatin and transcriptome profiles revealed extensive EZH2 occupancy not only at genomic loci marked by H3K27me3 but also at promoters independent of PRC2, indicating a noncanonical role of EZH2 in OC. Mechanistically, EZH2 transcriptionally upregulated IDH2 to potentiate metabolic rewiring by enhancing tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA cycle) activity, which contributed to the growth of OC. Background: Xp22.31 deletion and duplication have been described in various studies, but different laboratories interpret pathogenicity differently. Objectives: Our study aimed to refine the genotype–phenotype associations between Xp22.31 copy number variants in fetuses, with the aim of providing data support to genetic counseling. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed karyotyping and single nucleotide polymorphism array results from 87 fetuses and their family members. Phenotypic data were obtained through follow-up visits. Results: The percentage of fetuses carrying the Xp22.31 deletions (9 females, 12 males) was 24.1% (n = 21), while duplications (38 females, 28 males) accounted for 75.9% (n = 66). Here, we noted that the typical region (from 6.4 to 8.1 Mb, hg19) was detected in the highest ratio, either in the fetuses with deletions (76.2%, 16 of 21) or duplications (69.7%, 46 of 66). In female deletion carriers, termination of pregnancy was chosen for two fetuses, and the remaining seven were born without distinct phenotypic abnormalities. In male deletion carriers, termination of pregnancy was chosen for four fetuses, and the remaining eight of them displayed ichthyosis without neurodevelopmental anomalies. In two of these cases, the chromosomal imbalance was inherited from the maternal grandfathers, who also only had ichthyosis phenotypes. Among the 66 duplication carriers, two cases were lost at follow-up, and pregnancy was terminated for eight cases. There were no other clinical findings in the rest of the 56 fetuses, including two with Xp22.31 tetrasomy, for either male or female carriers. Conclusion: Our observations provide support for genetic counseling in male and female carriers of Xp22.31 copy number variants. Most of them are asymptomatic in male deletion carriers, except for skin findings. Our study is consistent with the view that the Xp22.31 duplication may be a benign variant in both sexes. In China, dauciform roots were hardly studied and only reported in alpine meadows, where sedges showed a different tendency from other functional groups such as grasses and forbs with degradation. In addition, Carex species were proved to have shifting scaling relationships among LES (leaf economics spectrum) traits under disturbance. So, are these unique performances of sedges related to the presence of dauciform roots, and if so, how? An alpine meadow dominated by Carex filispica in Baima Snow Mountain was selected, and quantitative trampling was performed (0, 50, 200, and 500 passes). The cover and dauciform root properties of Carex filispica were measured, as well as the morphological, chemical traits and biomass of leaves and roots, their correlations and the differences between individuals with and without dauciform roots were analyzed. After the trampling, individuals with dauciform roots showed multiple resource‐acquisitive traits: Larger, thicker leaves, more aboveground biomass, higher efficiency of nutrient utilization, and slenderer roots. Additionally, they had a tighter correlation among belowground biomass, morphological and chemical traits, as well as dauciform root properties and morphology of leaves, suggesting that their traits were more related than those without dauciform roots. The presence of dauciform roots in Carex filispica was related to advantages in multiple traits after trampling, which is consistent with and might be responsible for the unique performances of sedges. Plant nitrogen (N) uptake preference is a key factor affecting plant nutrient acquisition, vegetation composition and ecosystem function. However, few studies have investigated the contribution of different N sources to plant N strategies, especially during the process of primary succession of a glacial retreat area. By measuring the natural abundance of N isotopes (δ15N) of dominant plants and soil, we estimated the relative contribution of different N forms (ammonium-NH4+, nitrate-NO3− and soluble organic N-DON) and absorption preferences of nine dominant plants of three stages (12, 40 and 120 years old) of the Hailuogou glacier retreat area. Along with the chronosequence of primary succession, dominant plants preferred to absorb NO3− in the early (73.5%) and middle (46.5%) stages. At the late stage, soil NH4+ contributed more than 60.0%, In addition, the contribution of DON to the total N uptake of plants was nearly 19.4%. Thus, the dominant plants' preference for NO3− in the first two stages changes to NH4+ in the late stages during primary succession. The contribution of DON to the N source of dominant plants should not be ignored. It suggests that the shift of N uptake preference of dominant plants may reflect the adjustment of their N acquisition strategy, in response to the changes in their physiological traits and soil nutrient conditions. Better knowledge of plant preferences for different N forms could significantly improve our understanding on the potential feedbacks of plant N acquisition strategies to environmental changes, and provide valuable suggestions for the sustainable management of plantations during different successional stages. Spiny‐surfaced species of Prorocentrum form harmful algal blooms, and its taxonomic identity is obscure due to the size and shape variability. Molecular phylogenies reveal two major clades: one for P. cordatum with sequences mainly retrieved as P. minimum, and the other for P. shikokuense with sequences also retrieved as P. dentatum and P. donghaiense. Several closely related clades still need to be characterized. Here, we provide nuclear SSU and LSU rRNA genes, and nuclear ITS region (ITS1‐5.8S gene‐ITS2) sequences of the strain CCMP3122 isolated from Florida (initially named P. donghaiense) and strains Prorocentrum sp. RCC6871–2 from the Ross Sea, Antarctica. We describe Prorocentrum thermophilum sp. nov. based on the strain CCMP3122, a species also distributed in the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico, New Zealand, and the Arabian Gulf; and Prorocentrum criophilum sp. nov. based on the strain RCC6872, which is distributed in the Antarctic Ocean and Arctic Sea. Prorocentrum thermophilum is roundish (~14 μm long, ~12 μm wide), with an inconspicuous anterior spine‐like prolongation under light microscopy, valves with tiny, short knobs (5–7 per μm2), and several (<7) large trichocyst pores (~0.3 μm) in the right valve, as well as smaller pores (~0.15 μm). Prorocentrum criophilum is round in valve view (~11 μm long, 10 μm wide) and asymmetrically roundish in lateral view, the periflagellar area was not discernible under light microscopy, valves with very tiny, short knobs (6–10 per μm2), and at least 12 large pores in the right valve. In recent years, sparse direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar has attracted extensive attention and been extensively studied, especially the method based on the classic least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) estimator. The alternating-direction method of multipliers (ADMM) is an effective method for solving this problem at the cost of introducing an additional user parameter. To avoid introducing an additional user parameter, this paper adopts an equivalent transformation in the form of the generalized SParse Iterative Covariance-based Estimation (qSPICE) cost function to obtain a mean squared minimized form of the cost function. Then, the problem is transformed into a sparse optimization problem in the form of a weighted LASSO. Next, this unconstrained optimization problem is decomposed into three subproblems, which are solved separately to reduce the dimension of each problem and thus reduce the overall computational complexity based on ADMM. Simulation results and measured data indicate that the proposed method significantly outperforms the traditional super-resolution DOA estimation method and ADMM-LASSO method and slightly outperforms qSPICE in terms of resolution and sidelobe suppression capability. Objective: This study aimed to examine whether integrating risk-enhancing factors into the Chinese Society of Cardiology-recommended clinical risk assessment tool (i.e., the CSC model) for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) might improve 10-year ASCVD risk stratification in Chinese adults. Methods: A total of 4910 Chinese participants who were 50–79 years of age and free of cardiovascular disease in the 2007–2008 Survey from the Chinese Multi-provincial Cohort Study were included. We assessed the updated model's clinical utility (i.e., Harrell's C-index and net reclassification improvement [NRI]) by adding risk-enhancing factors individually or the number of risk-enhancing factors to the CSC model, for all individuals or those at intermediate risk. Risk-enhancing factors, including a family history of CVD, triglycerides ≥2.3 mmol/L, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein ≥2 mg/L, Lipoprotein (a) ≥50 mg/dL, non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ≥4.9 mmol/L, overweight/obesity, and central obesity, were evaluated. ASCVD events were defined as a composite endpoint comprising ischemic stroke and acute coronary heart disease events (including nonfatal acute myocardial infarction and all coronary deaths). Results: During a median 10-year follow-up, 449 (9.1%) ASCVD events were recorded. Addition of ≥2 risk-enhancing factors to the CSC model yielded a significant improvement in the C-index (1.0%, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.2–1.7%) and a modest improvement in the NRI (2.0%, 95% CI: −1.2–5.4%) in the total population. For intermediate-risk individuals, particularly individuals at high risk of developing ASCVD, significant improvements in NRI were observed after adding ≥2 risk-enhancing factors (17.4%, 95% CI: 5.6–28.5%) to the CSC model. Conclusions: Addition of ≥2 risk-enhancing factors refined 10-year ASCVD risk stratification, particularly for intermediate-risk individuals, supporting their potential in helping tailor targeted interventions in clinical practice. Sleep deprivation, a common perioperative period health problem, causes ocular discomfort and affects postsurgical pain. However, the mechanism of sleep deprivation-induced increased pain sensitivity is elusive. This study aims to explore the role of ROS in sleep deprivation (SD)-induced hyperalgesia and the underlying mechanism. A 48-h continuous SD was performed prior to the hind paw incision pain modeling in mice. We measured ROS levels, microglial activation, DNA damage and protein levels of iNOS, NLRP3, p-P65 and P65 in mouse spinal dorsal cord. The involvement of ROS in SD-induced prolongation of postsurgical pain was further confirmed by intrathecal injection of ROS inhibitor, phenyl-N-tert-butylnitrone (PBN). Pretreatment of 48-h SD in mice significantly prolonged postsurgical pain recovery, manifesting as lowered paw withdrawal mechanical threshold and paw withdrawal thermal latency. It caused ROS increase and upregulation of iNOS on both Day 1 and 7 in mouse spinal dorsal cord. In addition, upregulation of NLRP3 and p-P65, microglial activation and DNA damage were observed in mice pretreated with 48-h SD prior to the incision. Notably, intrathecal injection of PBN significantly reversed the harmful effects of SD on postsurgical pain recovery, hyperalgesia, microglial activation and DNA damage via the NF-κB signaling pathway. Collectively, ROS increase is responsible for SD-induced hyperalgesia through activating microglial, triggering DNA damage and enhancing NLRP3 inflammasome activity in the spinal dorsal cord. In this paper, a novel optimal 3-DoF micro-conveyor based on electromagnetic digital actuators array is proposed. The micro-conveyor consists of four electromagnetic digital actuators. Two specific control strategies have been built to realize the 3-DoF planner conveyance task. A static analytical model and a dynamic semi-analytical model based on the principle have been built for the optimal design, analysis, and necessary calculation of a prototype. The prototype was manufactured by micro-fabrication technology and several experiments were carried out. The experimental results are in good agreement with the modeling results. Benefited from the optimal design and high fabrication precision, the proposed micro-conveyor is proved to be better in magnetic homogeneity of elementary actuators, output stability, long range conveyance linearity, and have one more DoF (planar rotation) compared to the previous work. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have achieved high performance in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) automatic target recognition (ATR). However, the performance of CNNs depends heavily on a large amount of training data. The insufficiency of labeled training SAR images limits the recognition performance and even invalidates some ATR methods. Furthermore, under few labeled training data, many existing CNNs are even ineffective. To address these challenges, we propose a Semi-supervised SAR ATR Framework with transductive Auxiliary Segmentation (SFAS). The proposed framework focuses on exploiting the transductive generalization on available unlabeled samples with an auxiliary loss serving as a regularizer. Through auxiliary segmentation of unlabeled SAR samples and information residue loss (IRL) in training, the framework can employ the proposed training loop process and gradually exploit the information compilation of recognition and segmentation to construct a helpful inductive bias and achieve high performance. Experiments conducted on the MSTAR dataset have shown the effectiveness of our proposed SFAS for few-shot learning. The recognition performance of 94.18% can be achieved under 20 training samples in each class with simultaneous accurate segmentation results. Recently, a variety of super-resolution (SR) methods have been devoted to enhancing the angular resolution of real beam mapping (RBM) imagery in modern microwave remote sensing applications. When addressing large-scale datasets, however, they suffer from notably high computational complexity due to high-dimensional matrix inversion, multiplication, or singular value decomposition (SVD). To overcome this limitation, this article presents a low-complexity SR strategy based on adaptive low-rank approximation (LRA). Our underlying idea is first to construct a random matrix sketching to sample the raw echo measurements and restore the surface map of reflectivity in a low-dimensional linear space. The resulting low-complexity strategy enables substantial computational complexity reduction for a group of SR methods, at the cost of introducing a manually adjusted LRA parameter. Using the Fourier transform-based antenna analysis method, we further reveal that the LRA parameter that ensures support resolution improvement can be determined by a closed-form function of the aperture length, the wavelength, and the field of view, allowing for adaptively and efficiently selecting the optimal LRA parameter that well balances the tradeoff between LRA error and computational efficiency. We use both simulated and real datasets to demonstrate that the proposed LRA-based SR strategy can provide significant speedup without performance loss. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: Low-fat meat is increasingly desired by the public due to the growing popularity of healthy diets, and the excessive accumulation of abdominal fat increases costs in the broiler breeding industry, all of which have encouraged breeding changes in the broiler industry. Investigating fat accumulation at a cellular level from a genetic perspective will help us understand gene-mediated abdominal fat accumulation in chickens. This study aimed to explore the role of the PROS1 gene in adipose cells and its application prospect in broiler breeding. Based on our findings, we found that the PROS1 gene can contribute to adipose cell proliferation and can reduce fat deposits at the cellular level, and its mutations are highly correlated with chicken fat traits. (1) Background: Excessive abdominal fat deposition in broilers not only causes feed waste but also leads to a series of metabolic diseases. It has gradually become a new breeding goal of the broiler industry to improve growth rates and to reduce abdominal fat rates. In a previous study, PROS1 was highly expressed in low-abdominal fat broilers, suggesting a potential role in broilers adipogenesis. However, the function of PROS1 in preadipocytes and its association with abdominal fat traits need to be characterized. (2) Methods: qRT-PCR and Western Blot were used to quantify gene expression at the RNA and protein levels; flow cytometry and EdU were carried out to detect cell proliferation; and a GLM analysis was used to determine the association between PROS1 SNPs and carcass traits. (3) Results: PROS1 was downregulated in high-abdominal fat chicken; PROS1 contributed preadipocyte proliferation but suppressed preadipocyte differentiation; and the SNPs in the PROS1 5′ flank were significantly associated with the abdominal fat weight rate. (4) Conclusions: Chicken PROS1 is able to suppress adipogenesis, and its polymorphisms are associated with the abdominal fat weight rate, which can be considered the molecular markers for chicken breeding, indicating that PROS1 is an effective potential gene in regulating abdominal fat deposition. To realize high azimuth resolution for sea-surface targets, this article proposes a superresolution imaging method that relies on the Weibull distribution. The proposed method introduces the generalized Gaussian distribution and Weibull distribution to represent the statistical distribution function of the target prior information and sea clutter, respectively. The corresponding objective function was derived under the maximum a posteriori (MAP) criterion. To address the nonlinearity of the objective function, this article adopts the Newton–Raphson iterative method to resolve it. Simulations and experimental data assessment indicate that the proposed method has superior superresolution imaging performance compared with other traditional superresolution methods for sea-surface target imaging. Microwave photonic synthetic aperture radar (MWP-SAR) offers a larger signal bandwidth than conventional SAR, and its theoretical resolution can be improved to centimeter level. To achieve same order of magnitude resolution in the azimuth direction, long synthetic aperture is always required, which results in extremely high requirements for the accuracy of imaging procedure. Compared with the conventional SAR imaging algorithms, two major problems should be considered: 1) the scattering characteristics of target might vary from the frequency of signal and the angle of incidence, which seriously affects the coherence of received echo and 2) the imaging of the MWP-SAR system is more sensitive to motion errors and therefore requires higher accuracy of motion compensation processing. To solve the above issues, a high-precision imaging method for MWP-SAR is proposed. First, based on the attribute scattering center (ASC) model, this article analyzes the target scattering characteristics with different frequencies and incident angles. Then, according to the influence of scattering phase on MWP-SAR imaging, an optimal subaperture division algorithm is proposed to guarantee the coherence of each subaperture data and better imaging results. Furthermore, to compensate for the effects of high-order motion errors, this article proposes a motion error estimation algorithm based on subimage registration, where the full-aperture high-order motion errors can be divided into multiple linear components, and the flight trajectory of platform can be accurately reconstructed. Finally, a full-aperture time-domain high-precision imaging method is presented, and the effectiveness of the proposed formation is verified by both simulation and actual airborne MWP-SAR data processing. Palpation localization is essential for detecting physiological parameters of the radial artery for pulse diagnosis of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Detecting signal or applying pressure at the wrong location can seriously affect the measurement of pulse waves and result in misdiagnosis. In this paper, we propose an effective and high accuracy regression model using 3-dimensional convolution neural networks (CNN) processing near-infrared picture sequences to locate radial artery upon radius at the wrist. Comparing with early studies using 2-dimensional models, 3Dcnn introduces temporal features with the third dimension to leverage pulsation rhythms, and had achieved superior performance accuracy as 0.87 within 50 pixels at testing resolution of 1024 × 544. Model visualization shows that the additional dimension of the temporal convolution highlights dynamic changes within image sequences. Background: Tanshinone IIA (TSA), a major lipophilic component extracted from the roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, has been widely used in China for its various biological activities. However, its effect on ovarian reserve in aged mice was not studied elsewhere. Objectives: This study aimed to explore the effect of TSA on the ovarian reserve of aged mice as well as young mice. Forty weeks old mice (N = 40) were considered as aged group compared to 4 weeks old mice (N = 40), and these groups were subdivided into four subgroups (N = 10) to receive different doses of TSA (0, 10, 20, and 40 μg/g/day). Methods: The effect of TSA was evaluated by counting follicular number by histological examination. Basal serum levels of FSH, LH, E2, and anti‐Mullerian hormone (AMH) were measured by ELISA. Moreover, the expression levels of antioxidant genes (CAT, Nrf2, GPX1), gap junction (Cx37), ERK1/2, and Smad5 family gene were examined at both mRNA (qPCR) and protein levels (western blot). Results: Follicular number, level of AMH and E2, and the expression of CAT, Nrf2, and GPX1 genes increased significantly (p < 0.05) in aged mice administrated with medium (20 μg/g/day) and high (40 μg/g/day) doses of TSA, whereas FSH and LH levels were significantly low compared to low dose (10 μg/g/day) and control (0 μg/g/day) aged subgroups. However, we did not observe any effect of all doses of TSA on young mice. Conclusions: Administration of TSA with medium and high doses up‐regulates the expression of antioxidative genes, reduces the oxidative injury, increases levels of AMH, and E2 levels that are relatively comparable to those in young mice, and consequently results in a healthy oocyte development. The immune cell inflammation response is closely related to the occurrence of disease, and much evidence has shown that circular RNAs (circRNAs) play vital roles in the occurrence of disease. However, the biological function and regulatory mechanisms of circRNAs in the immune cell inflammation response remain poorly understood. In this study, we constructed an inflammatory model using lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated chicken macrophage lines (also known as HD11) to verify the function and mechanism of the novel circDCLRE1C (ID: gga_circ_0001674), which was significantly upregulated in spleen tissues infected by coccidia and the macrophage cells exposed to LPS. The results showed that circDCLRE1C aggravated LPS-induced inflammation and apoptosis in HD11 cells. Systemically, circDCLRE1C acted as a sponge for miR-214b-3p binding sites thereby regulating the expression of STAT3. The overexpression of miR-214b-3p rescued the pro-inflammatory effect of circDCLRE1C in HD11 cells stimulated with LPS, and rescued the high expression of STAT3. In conclusion, our study showed that circDCLRE1C could aggravate LPS-induced inflammation and apoptosis through competitive adsorption of miR-214b-3p, thereby increasing the expression of STAT3. Prolongation of postsurgical pain caused by pre-operative stress is a clinically significant problem, although the mechanisms are not fully understood. Stress can promote the pro-inflammatory activation of microglia, and the transcription factor CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein (C/EBP) β regulates pro-inflammatory gene expression in microglia. Therefore, we speculated that C/EBPβ in spinal microglia may have critical roles in the development of chronic postsurgical pain. Accordingly, in this study, we used a single prolonged stress (SPS) procedure and plantar incisions to evaluate the roles of C/EBPβ in postsurgical pain. Our experiments showed that SPS exposure prolonged mechanical allodynia, increased the expression of C/EBPβ and pro-inflammatory cytokines, and potentiated the activation of spinal microglia. Subsequently, microinjection of C/EBPβ siRNA attenuated the duration of SPS-prolonged postoperative mechanical allodynia and inhibited microglial activation in the spinal cord. Conversely, mimicking this increase in C/EBPβ promoted microglial activation via pretreatment with a pre-injection of AAV5-C/EBPβ, leading to prolongation of postsurgical pain. Overall, these results suggested that spinal microglia may play key roles in prolongation of postsurgical pain induced by pre-operative stress and that C/EBPβ may be a potential target for disease treatment. Here we report stepwise solution‐synthesis of linear nonalternant nanoribbons (NNRs), featuring pentagonal rings peri‐fused onto the repeating perylene unit. The X‐ray single‐crystal structures demonstrated their π‐backbones as a twisted ribbon, with the longest crystalline length of the nanoribbon up to 3.9 nm. NNRs exhibited an orange to deep‐red photoluminescence even under the room light, with absolute ΦF up to 82 %, most likely due to ring‐strain induced molecular stiffness. Benefiting from the enlarged size and the antiaromatic character of pentagons, all of NNRs possessed ambipolar redox properties, especially for longer nanoribbons showing multiple reversible reductions and oxidations. In addition, experimental and theoretical results indicated a ground state open‐shell singlet diradicaloid for the dication of longer NNRs. Our studies reveal the intriguing nonalternant structures and physical properties of this type of nanoribbons, involving the striking effects of the multiple annulated pentagons, and also provide fundamental insights into their electronic structures. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)-associated cognitive dysfunction significantly disturbs patients' quality of life and will to live. However, its underlying mechanism is as yet unknown. Recent researches indicate that blood–brain barrier (BBB) breakdown is responsible for early cognitive dysfunction. Microglia might participate in remodeling of BBB-associated tight junction and regulating BBB integrity. Nevertheless, it is unclear whether microglia activation and BBB injury involve in PTSD-associated cognitive dysfunction. Hence, we established an animal model of PTSD, single prolonged stress (SPS), and investigated permeability changes in the hippocampus and further explored the effects of microglia on BBB remodeling. The Y maze was used to assess the changes of cognitive function. The sodium fluorescein (NaFlu) assay and western blotting analysis were employed to detect BBB integrity changes. Minocycline was administered to inhibit microglial activation. Immunofluorescence stains were used to assess the activation states in microglia. The results showed that SPS-exposed rats exhibited poorer cognitive performance, higher passage of NaFlu, and lower expression of tight junction proteins (occludin and claudin 5) in the hippocampus on the day after SPS, but no difference on the 7th day. Inhibition of microglial activation by minocycline attenuated poor cognitive performance and BBB impairment including the extravasation of NaFlu and protein levels of the tight junction. Taken together, the present study indicates that BBB impairment may underlie the shared pathological basis of PTSD and cognitive dysfunction.
