Contents: Alterations in biochemical constituents of uterine fluid have been suggested for diagnosis of subclinical uterine infection in the bovine. This study was undertaken to investigate whether uterine fluid biomolecules could act as tool for diagnosis of subclinical endometritis in the buffalo. Uterine fluid samples from normal (n = 22) and subclinical endometritis (n = 18; diagnosed based on uterine cytology)‐affected buffaloes were subjected to biochemical analysis. Among the different biochemical constituents estimated, urea, urea N, cholesterol, total bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) concentrations were significantly (p < 0.05) higher in uterine fluid obtained from subclinical endometritis‐affected buffaloes. The extent of difference between normal and subclinical endometritis‐affected buffaloes was highest in ALP (69%) followed by cholesterol (55%), bilirubin (48%), urea (30%) and urea N (30%) concentrations. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis indicated that the likelihood ratio (LR) was 3.63 for urea, indicating that buffaloes having less than the threshold concentration (47.5 mg/dl) of urea in their uterine fluid were at 3.6 times more risk to be affected with SE. The LRs for urea N, cholesterol, ALP and bilirubin were 2.33, 2.54, 2.12 and 1.65, respectively. To achieve the targeted artificial insemination coverage with the current rate of semen production, without affecting the conception rate, it needs to reduce the number of spermatozoa per insemination dose in India as per international practice. Therefore, this study was planned to perform different levels of semen dilution, compare in vitro post-thaw semen quality and develop a modified low-dose semen packaging method in French mini straw to minimise semen dilution effect. Sixteen ejaculates were collected from Karan Fries bulls (n = 4). The mean percentage postthaw motility, viability, membrane integrity, acrosome integrity, lipid peroxidation and capacitation status were estimated as post-thaw sperm function assays in semen sample diluted to 20, 15, 10 and 5 million spermatozoa per 0.25 ml and filled in the French mini straw by conventional packaging. No significant (p > .05) difference in post-thaw sperm quality was observed between 15 and 20 million doses; however, below 15 million sperm quality get reduced. There was no significant difference in post-thaw semen quality traits between 20 million conventional packaging and 5 million spermatozoa/dose in modified packaging. Western disturbances (WDs) are synoptic-scale weather systems embedded within the subtropical westerly jet. Manifesting as upper-level troughs often associated with a lower-tropospheric low over western or northern India, they share some dynamical features with extratropical cyclones. WDs are most common during the boreal winter (December to March), during which they bring the majority of precipitation – both rain and snow – to the western Himalaya, as well as to surrounding areas of north India, Pakistan, and the Tibetan Plateau. WDs are also associated with weather hazards such as heavy snowfall, hailstorms, fog, cloudbursts, avalanches, frost, and cold waves. In this paper, we review recent developments in understanding WDs and their impacts. Over the last decade, recent studies have collectively made use of novel data, novel analysis techniques such as tracking algorithms, and the increasing availability of high-resolution weather and climate models. This review is separated into six main sections – structure and thermodynamics, precipitation and impacts, teleconnections, modelling experiments, forecasting at a range of scales, and paleoclimate and climate change – each motivated with a brief discussion of the accomplishments and limitations of previous research. A number of step changes in understanding are synthesised. Use of new modelling frameworks and tracking algorithms has significantly improved knowledge of WD structure and variability, and a more frequentist approach can now be taken. Improved observation systems have helped quantification of water security over the western Himalaya. Convection-permitting models have improved our understanding of how WDs interact with the Himalaya to trigger natural hazards. Improvements in paleoclimate and future climate modelling experiments have helped to explain how WDs and their impacts over the Himalaya respond to large-scale natural and anthropogenic forcings. Background: Patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) often develop various health complications, including pulmonary dysfunction. Hemodialysis (HD) is a common treatment for these patients, but its effects on pulmonary function remain an area of investigation. This study aimed to assess the impact of HD on spirometry parameters in ESRD patients. Patients and methods: This prospective study was carried out on 60 patients with ESRD on HD. Spirometry parameters, including vital capacity (VC), forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1), FEV1/FVC ratio, peak expiratory flow (PEF), and forced expiratory flow between 25 and 75% of FVC (FEF 25–75%), were measured 1 h before and after HD. Results: After HD, significant improvements were observed in several spirometry parameters. The median % change in VC was 9.92% (range, −27.05 to 47.66%), in FVC% was 11.68% (range, −16.5 to 47.37%), in FEV1% was 12.56% (range, −2 to 49.43%), in FEV1/FVC was 1.52% (range, −9.39 to 17.32%), in PEF% was 14.86% (range, −15.33 to 131.73%), and in FEF 25–75% was 13.89% (range, −14.29 to 97.56%). Conclusions: In ESRD patients, pulmonary abnormalities, primarily restrictive and mixed disorders, were common. Spirometry parameters (FVC, FEV1, PEF rate) were often below normal. However, HD led to notable improvements in VC, FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC, FEF 25–75%, PEF rate, and arterial blood gases parameters (pH, CO2, HCO3, SO2). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The one-dimensional nanomaterials known as nanofibers have remarkable qualities, such as large surface areas, adjustable porosity, and superior mechanical strength. Ionomers, types of polymers, have ionic functional groups that give them special properties, including high mechanical strength, water absorption capacity, and ionic conductivity. Integrating ionomers and nanofibers with diverse materials and advanced methodologies has been shown to improve the mechanical strength, processing capacity, and multifunctional attributes of ionomeric nanofibers. One-dimensional ionomeric nanomaterials offer a versatile platform for developing functional materials with ionic functionalities. This mini review critically examines recent progress in the development of ionomeric nanofibers, highlighting innovative fabrication techniques and their expanding applications across energy storage, environmental remediation, healthcare, advanced textiles, and electronics. TiO2 has broad prospects in reducing the safety risks posed by emerging pollutants in water environments. However, the high recombination rate of photogenerated carriers limits the activity and photon utilization efficiency of TiO2. In this study, mesoporous TiO2 (m-TiO2) and ultra-thin g-C3N4 nanosheets were composited using a hydrothermal method, with the m-TiO2 tightly and uniformly wrapped by g-C3N4. The chemical structure, elemental composition, and optical properties of the heterojunction were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis-DRS). The activity of the m-TiO2@g-C3N4 was evaluated by the degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH). Results showed that the heterojunction exhibited significantly enhanced reactivity compared to pure m-TiO2 and g-C3N4, with kinetic rates of TCH being 1.48 and 6.84 times that of pure m-TiO2 and g-C3N4, respectively. The TCH degradation kinetic rate varied from 0.194 min−1 to 0.026 min−1 and then decreased to 0.015 min−1 on the scale of the bandgap and the number of absorbed photons in m-TiO2@g-C3N4. Concurrently, a 10wt% doping amount of g-C3N4 significantly increased the reaction rate of photogenerated carriers in the system compared to the recombination rate, corresponding to excellent photon efficiency. Reproducibility was evaluated, and a possible degradation mechanism is proposed. This review offers an in-depth analysis of recent developments in polymeric membrane technology, focusing on materials' advancements, innovative fabrication methods, and strategies for improving performance. We discuss the underlying principles of membrane separation, selecting suitable polymers, and integrating novel materials, such as mixed-matrix and composite membranes, to enhance selectivity, permeability, and antifouling properties. The article also highlights the challenges and limitations associated with polymeric membranes, including stability, fouling, and scalability, and explores potential solutions to overcome these obstacles. This review aims to guide the development of next-generation polymeric membranes for efficient and sustainable liquid separation by offering a detailed analysis of current research and future directions. As part of green economics, taxes are imposed on emissions of pollutants that adversely impact the environment and public health to reward more innovative, environmentally sustainable, and low-carbon resource use. There are still many nation-states testing the concept of green taxation. Many environmental performance indicators place India low on the list of countries with the worst pollution. One of the main sources of pollution is vehicle exhaust. Green taxes will be imposed on older motor vehicles under guidelines released by the Indian government in 2021. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change received the Indian Nationally Determined Contribution Report in 2022. Taxonomies and low-carbon transport systems were prioritized in India, and incentives and tax breaks were offered to encourage the manufacture and use of vehicles that consume more ethanol. Academic discussions and literature on the subject are still lacking among the masses. Researchers intend to analyze the legal and economic measures taken by the Indian Government to curb vehicular pollution against this background. Due to its significant contribution to air and water pollution, as well as greenhouse gas emissions, the automobile industry has come under increasing scrutiny in recent years. India and China, for instance, have implemented green tax policies to reduce the automotive sector's environmental footprint and promote environmental sustainability. These policies are effective, but not all of them address the disproportionate impact of environmental injustice on vulnerable populations. Specifically, this study examines the impact of Indian green tax policies on environmental justice in the automobile industry as compared to those in China. A key aim of this study is to provide insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the green taxation policies adopted by each country in the automotive sector, as well as their implications for achieving environmental justice, by analyzing the scope, enforcement, impact on vulnerable communities, industry implications, and alignment with international commitments. The use of Digital Twin technology has been expanding rapidly, and projections indicate that it will continue to proliferate across various applications, use cases, and industries, including healthcare. In recent years, the healthcare sector has seen an acceleration in digital transformation. This fast-paced change offers both opportunities and risks, especially with emerging technologies like digital twins, which are relatively untested and still in the early stages of adoption in medical care. This paper aims to conduct a literature review to explore how digital twins facilitate intelligent automation in healthcare. It defines the concept, traces the technology's evolution and development, reviews its key enabling technologies, and examines current trends and challenges. The paper also presents a range of application examples in personalized medicine and public health, concluding with a succinct discussion of the primary technical and ancillary challenges, as well as the ethical issues that arise when applying digital twin technology to human subjects. This paper explores the transformative impact of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) on healthcare. By integrating medical equipment and sensors with the internet, IoMT enables real-time monitoring of patient health, remote patient care, and individualized treatment plans. IoMT significantly improves several healthcare domains, including managing chronic diseases, patient safety, and drug adherence, resulting in better patient outcomes and reduced expenses. Technologies like blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and cloud computing further boost IoMT’s capabilities in healthcare. Blockchain enhances data security and interoperability, AI analyzes massive volumes of health data to find patterns and make predictions, and cloud computing offers scalable and cost-effective data processing and storage. Therefore, this paper provides a comprehensive review of the Internet of Things (IoT) and IoMT-based edge-intelligent smart healthcare, focusing on publications published between 2018 and 2024. The review addresses numerous studies on IoT, IoMT, AI, edge and cloud computing, security, Deep Learning, and blockchain. The obstacles facing IoMT are also covered in this paper, including interoperability issues, regulatory compliance, and privacy and data security concerns. All-inorganic perovskite CsSnI3 has attracted intense research interests due to its prominent optoelectronic properties, high thermal stability, and environmentally friendly character. The surface energies and electronic structures of black orthorhombic (γ) CsSnI3 surfaces are investigated by using first-principles methods. The anisotropic and termination-dependent surface energies of low-index surfaces (i.e., the (110), (001), (100) and (101) surfaces) are obtained, providing important data for CsSnI3, since these values are difficult to be measured in experiments. The CsI-terminated (110) and (001) surfaces are predicted to be the most stable and their surface energies are close, making the cube-shape of nanocrystals favorable at thermodynamic equilibrium, which is consistent with the experimental observations. Calculated surface electronic structures show that the quantum confinement effect is orientation dependent. The band gaps of the (100) and (101) surfaces are significantly larger than those of the (110) and (001) surfaces by using slabs with similar thickness. This distinction can be attributed to different 'electronic dimensionalities' of these surfaces. RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) regulate translation and plasticity which are required for memory. RBP dysfunction has been linked to a range of neurological disorders where cognitive impairments are a key symptom. However, of the 2,000 RBPs in the human genome, many are uncharacterized with regards to neurological phenotypes. To address this, we used the model organism C. elegans to assess the role of 20 conserved RBPs in memory. We identified eight previously uncharacterized memory regulators, three of which are in the C. elegansY-Box (CEY) RBP family. Of these, we determined that cey-1 is the closest ortholog to the mammalian Y-Box (YBX) RBPs. We found that CEY-1 is both necessary in the nervous system for memory ability and sufficient to promote memory. Leveraging human datasets, we found both copy number variation losses and single nucleotide variants in YBX1 and YBX3 in individuals with neurological symptoms. We identified one predicted deleterious YBX3 variant of unknown significance, p.Asn127Tyr, in two individuals with neurological symptoms. Introducing this variant into endogenous cey-1 locus caused memory deficits in the worm. We further generated two humanized worm lines expressing human YBX3 or YBX1 at the cey-1 locus to test evolutionary conservation of YBXs in memory and the potential functional significance of the p.Asn127Tyr variant. Both YBX1/3 can functionally replace cey-1, and introduction of p.Asn127Tyr into the humanized YBX3 locus caused memory deficits. Our study highlights the worm as a model to reveal memory regulators and identifies YBX dysfunction as a potential new source of rare neurological disease. Here, we take advantage of the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans to determine the role of 20 RBPs in memory. We identify eight new memory regulators, including members of the CEY RBP family, which are closely related to the human YBX RBPs. We found that CEY-1 is required for memory in C. elegans and enhances memory when overexpressed. Taking advantage of human genome sequencing data, we found three individuals with the same genetic variant in YBX3, two of which have neurological symptoms including intellectual disability. Introducing this same variant into the CEY-1 protein caused memory deficits, suggesting the variant may cause dysfunction in vivo. To confirm this in the context of the mammalian genes, we made C. elegans that express the YBX3 variant protein instead of CEY-1 to model the functional consequences of the human YBX3 variant. Again, we observed memory deficits. Our study shows the utility of C. elegans in discovering new memory-regulating RBPs and highlights a potentially conserved role for the CEY/YBX proteins in memory. Introduction: Despite the improvement in survival in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), there are still cases with evasion of chemotherapy-induced apoptosis. The IKK/ NF-kB signaling pathway contributes to antiapoptotic gene expression. Pentoxifylline (PTX) inhibits IkB phosphorylation, blocking NF-kB and antiapoptotic activity. Methods: We conducted a randomized, double-blind clinical trial on pediatric ALL patients undergoing induction therapy, assigning them to PTX or placebo group. Bone marrow aspirates were obtained on days 1, 8, 15, and 22. Apoptosis was assessed using Annexin-V/propidium iodide. Results: Results indicated that the PTX group exhibited higher apoptosis on day- 8 (41.3% vs. 19.4%, p =0.029) and day-15 (35.0% vs. 14.2%, p <0.01). On day-8, the PTX group displayed an MRD of 0.25% vs. 18.2% (p <0.01) in placebo group; on day-15, the PTX group demonstrated an MRD of 0.09% vs. 1.4% (p =0.02). Patients achieving an MRD <0.01% on day-8 demonstrated a 3-year Overall Survival (OS) of 81.6% vs. 58.3% (p =0.03); on day-15, patients with MRD <0.01% had a 3-year OS of 77.9% vs. 54.5% (p =0.03). The PTX group achieved an MRD of <0.01% earlier on days-8 and 15, along with a higher apoptosis rate, indicating a more favorable therapeutic response. In the entire cohort, patients achieving MRD <0.01% on day-8 or 15 displayed superior OS. Conclusion: Our study demonstrates that PTX enhances apoptosis and reduces MRD in pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients. Metal halide perovskites, particularly using tin and lead as bivalent cations, are well known for their synthetic versatility and ion mobility. These materials possess intriguing ionic properties that allow the formation of 2D Ruddlesden–Popper (RP) and 3D metal halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) under similar synthetic conditions. We studied the synthesis mechanism of oleylammonium-based Sn and Pb bromide perovskites 2D Ruddlesden–Popper (RP) in comparison with the 3D CsPbBr3 and CsSnBr3 NCs. Using experimental techniques in combination with theoretical calculations, we studied the interactions of the long-chain organic cations with the inorganic layers and between each other to assess their stability. Our findings suggest that tin bromide is more inclined toward forming higher-order RP phases or 3D NCs than lead bromide. Furthermore, we demonstrate the synthesis of precisely tuned CsSnBr3 3D NCs (7 and 10 nm) using standard surface ligands. When the 3D and 2D tin halide perovskite nanostructures coexist in suspension, the obtained drop-cast thin films showed the preferential positioning of residual RP nanostructures at the interface with the substrate. This study encourages further exploration of low-dimensional hybrid materials and emphasizes the need for understanding mechanisms to develop efficient synthetic routes for high-quality tin-halide perovskite NCs. The depletion of fossil fuels has become a significant global issue, prompting scientists to explore and refine methods for harnessing alternative energy sources. This study provides a comprehensive review of advancements and emerging technologies in the desalination industry, focusing on technological improvements and economic considerations. The analysis highlights the potential synergies of integrating multiple renewable energy systems to enhance desalination efficiency and minimise environmental consequences. The main areas of focus include aligning developing technologies like membrane distillation, pervaporation and forward osmosis with renewable energy and implementing hybrid renewable energy systems to improve the scalability and economic viability of desalination enterprises. The study also analyses obstacles related to desalination driven by renewable energy, including energy storage, fluctuations in energy supply, and deployment costs. By resolving these obstacles and investigating novel methodologies, the study enhances the understanding of how renewable energy can be used to construct more efficient, sustainable, and economical desalination systems. Thermal desalination technologies require more energy than membrane-based systems due to the significant energy requirements associated with water vaporisation. The photovoltaic-powered reverse osmosis (RO) system had the most economically favourable production cost, while MED powered via a concentrated solar power (CSP) system had the highest production cost. Effective monitoring of global water resources is increasingly critical due to climate change and population growth. Advancements in remote sensing technology, specifically in spatial, spectral, and temporal resolutions, are revolutionizing water resource monitoring, leading to more frequent and high-quality surface water extent maps using various techniques such as traditional image processing and machine learning algorithms. However, satellite imagery datasets contain trade-offs that result in inconsistencies in performance, such as disparities in measurement principles between optical (e.g., Sentinel-2) and radar (e.g., Sentinel-1) sensors and differences in spatial and spectral resolutions among optical sensors. Therefore, developing accurate and robust surface water mapping solutions requires independent validations from multiple datasets to identify potential biases within the imagery and algorithms. However, high-quality validation datasets are expensive to build, and few contain information on water resources. For this purpose, we introduce a globally sampled, high-spatial-resolution dataset labeled using 3 m PlanetScope imagery. Our surface water extent dataset comprises 100 images, each with a size of 1024×1024 pixels, which were sampled using a stratified random sampling strategy covering all 14 biomes. We highlighted urban and rural regions, lakes, and rivers, including braided rivers and coastal regions. We evaluated two surface water extent mapping methods using our dataset – Dynamic World , based on Sentinel-2, and the NASA IMPACT model , based on Sentinel-1. Dynamic World achieved a mean intersection over union (IoU) of 72.16 % and F1 score of 79.70 %, while the NASA IMPACT model had a mean IoU of 57.61 % and F1 score of 65.79 %. Performance varied substantially across biomes, highlighting the importance of evaluating models on diverse landscapes to assess their generalizability and robustness. Our dataset can be used to analyze satellite products and methods, providing insights into their advantages and drawbacks. Regression testing is a type of software testing that is performed during software maintenance in order to validate any additional modifications made to the functionality of the software. The objective of test case prioritization in regression is to establish a ranking for the test cases, giving priority to those that effectively cover a substantial portion of code or faults, while also minimizing the required execution time. Managing the prioritization of test cases in accordance with the tester's requirements can be a challenging task, given the significant number of test cases generated during development and maintenance. Different algorithms, including Greedy approaches, meta-heuristic techniques, and other optimization methods, are utilized to prioritize test cases, taking into account the constraints specified by the software tester. This paper employs a ranking-based NSGA-2 algorithm for the purpose of test case ordering and prioritization. The focus is on test cases that are responsive to faults, specifically those that result from modifications or the introduction of new software functionality. The proposed methodology entails the prioritization of test cases by leveraging their historical data. In addition to the Sensitive Index, other primary objectives of test prioritization include considering the execution cost and APFD (average percentage of faults detected). The proposed model has undergone testing on a total of eight applications, consisting of five handcrafted and three benchmark Java-based applications. ZnS is a II-VI semiconductor with a wide bandgap. ZnS-based nanomaterials have been produced in a variety of morphologies with unique properties and characteristic features. An extensive collection of research activities is available on various synthetic methodologies to produce such a wide variety of ZnS-based nanomaterials. In this comprehensive review, we thoroughly covered all the different synthetic techniques employed by researchers across the globe to produce zero-dimensional, one-dimensional, two-dimensional, and three-dimensional ZnS-based nanomaterials. Depending on their morphologies and properties, ZnS-based nanomaterials have found many applications, including optoelectronics, sensors, catalysts, batteries, solar cells, and biomedical fields. Potential photovoltaic technology includes the newly developed dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and bulk heterojunction (BHJ) solar cells. Polymers containing phenothiazine, either as a part of their structure or as a dopant, are easy and economical to synthesize, are soluble in common organic solvents, and have the potential to acquire desired electrochemical and photophysical properties by mere tuning of their chemical structures. Such polymers have therefore been used either as photosensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells, where they have produced power conversion efficiency (PCE) values as high as 5.30%, or as donor or acceptor materials in bulk heterojunction solar cells. Furthermore, they have been employed to prepare liquid-free polymer electrolytes for dye-sensitized and bulk heterojunction solar cells, producing a PCE of 8.5% in the case of DSSCs. This paper reviews and analyzes almost all research works published to date on phenothiazine-based polymers and their uses in dye-sensitized and bulk heterojunction solar cells. The impacts of their structure and molecular weight and the amount when used as a dopant in other polymers on the absorption, photoluminescence, energy levels of frontier orbitals, and, finally, photovoltaic parameters are reviewed. Background: A paradox of lower morbidity and mortality in overweight or obese patients undergoing cardiac surgery has been described; however, knowledge about the influence of obesity in patients with acute Type A aortic dissection (AAD) is limited. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of obesity on short- and long-term outcomes after surgical treatment for AAD. Methods: Between 01/2004 and 12/2022, 912 patients with a BMI of 18.5 or greater were operated on for AAD. Patients were grouped according to their BMI (normal weight: BMI 18.5–24.9, n = 332; overweight: BMI 25–29.9, n = 367; obesity class I: BMI 30–34.9, n = 133; obesity class II+: BMI ≥ 35, n = 67), and the obtained clinical and surgical data were compared. Results: Obese patients were younger at the time of AAD (p = 0.001) and demonstrated higher rates of typical cardiovascular comorbidities (arterial hypertension, p = 0.005; diabetes mellitus, p < 0.001). The most important preoperative parameters, as well as the surgical approach, were similar between all four groups. The occurrence of renal failure requiring dialysis was higher in patients with BMI ≥ 35 (p = 0.010), but the in-hospital (p = 0.461) and long-term survival (p = 0.894) showed no significant differences. Conclusions: There are no indications that the obesity paradox is applicable in the setting of AAD. Since obese patients are affected by AAD at a younger age, obesity might constitute a risk factor for AAD. However, obesity does not influence short- or long-term survival. Optimum fertility is a pre-requisite for enhancing productivity as well as life time production of dairy bovines. However, increasing evidences indicate that with increasing milk yields, fertility has been declining. Analysis of the existing information indicates that dairy animals in our country calve at a later age, conceive at very later stage of post-partum period and the conception rate is low. Among the several reasons for extended service period (in turn calving interval), postpartum uterine infection alone accounts to around 30 per cent. Infectious diseases affecting reproductive organs can create losses throughout the reproductive cycle by decreasing ovulation rates, fertilization rates, embryonic survival rates and fetal survival rates. Understanding the molecular basis of uterine disease and identification of bio-molecules to detect uterine infection at an early stage besides developing effective preventive and therapeutic strategies is the need of the hour to realize the dream of obtaining a calf per cow per year. It is in this regard, the developments in the field of diagnosis and treatment of uterine infection, with special reference to subclinical uterine infection, are compiled, analysed and presented in this paper to provide the readers with the updated information on these aspects. This study investigates the impact of ambient conditions on the performance of P3HT/Ru-dye/nc-TiO2 solar cells (TLSCs). It has been found that the increase of temperature and irradiation duration affect on the parameters of TLSCs. When the temperature was increased from 293 k to 393 k, the short circuit current density (Jsc ) and open circuit voltgae (Voc) decrease from 2.2 to 1.7 mA/cm² and 0.7 V to 0.5 V respectively. That is attributed to the effect of high temperature on recombination of photo-generated charges and reduction of shunt resistance (Rsh ) in the TLSC. Moreover, we also present the effect of irradiation duration on performance of the TLSCs. The measurement reveals that Jsc decreased by 0.5 mA/cm² while Voc decreased by ~ 0.18 V during 4800 s illumination. This decrease suggests the filling of traps or defects at the interface with photo-genertated charges. Finally, the maximum output power of TLSCs dropped by almost half within 6 days during a 20-day test because of affecting atmosphere moisture on the interface properties between dye/ nc-TiO2 and P3HT [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Lipid-lowering therapy (LLT) is a cornerstone of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease prevention. Although LLT might lead to different reductions in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels in women and men, LLT diminishes cardiovascular risk equally effectively in both sexes. Despite similar LLT efficacy, the use of high-intensity statins, ezetimibe, and proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 inhibitors is lower in women compared to men. Women achieve the guideline-recommended LDL-C levels less often than men. Greater cholesterol burden is particularly prominent in women with familial hypercholesterolemia. In clinical practice, women and men with dyslipidemia present with different cardiovascular risk profiles and disease manifestations. The concentrations of LDL-C, lipoprotein(a), and other blood lipids differ between women and men over a lifetime. Dissimilar levels of LLT target molecules partially result from sex-specific hormonal and genetic determinants of lipoprotein metabolism. Hence, to evaluate a potential need for sex-specific LLT, this comprehensive review (i) describes the impact of sex on lipoprotein metabolism and lipid profile, (ii) highlights sex differences in cardiovascular risk among patients with dyslipidemia, (iii) presents recent, up-to-date clinical trial and real-world data on LLT efficacy and safety in women, and (iv) discusses the diverse medical needs of women and men with dyslipidemia and increased cardiovascular risk. This review article addresses the increasing environmental concerns posed by synthetic dyes in water, exploring innovative approaches for their removal with a focus on zero-valent iron nanoparticles (nZVIs) synthesized through environmentally friendly methods. The article begins by highlighting the persistent nature of synthetic dyes and the limitations of conventional degradation processes. The role of nanoparticles in environmental applications is then discussed, covering diverse methods for metallic nanoparticle production aligned with green chemistry principles. Various methods, including the incorporation of secondary metals, surface coating, emulsification, fixed support, encapsulation, and electrostatic stabilization, are detailed in relation to the stabilization of nZVIs. A novel aspect is introduced in the use of plant extract or biomimetic approaches for chemical reduction during nZVI synthesis. The review investigates the specific challenges posed by dye pollution in wastewater from industrial sources, particularly in the context of garment coloring. Current approaches for dye removal in aqueous environments are discussed, with an emphasis on the effectiveness of green-synthesized nZVIs. The article concludes by offering insights into future perspectives and challenges in the field. 4-Aminopyridine, a small molecule has attracted considerable interest within the neuroscience and pharmacology communities owing to its capacity to augment neural transmission. Over the course of time, scientists have come to acknowledge the potential of this phenomenon in augmenting synaptic transmission and mitigating neurological disorders. The transition from its fortuitous revelation to its intentional medicinal application has facilitated the progress of neuroscience investigations. The investigation conducted on the physicochemical features of analogues of 4-aminopyridine has yielded significant findings on their many attributes, including solubility, propensity for lipid interactions, and affinity for selective receptor binding. The mechanism of action entails the inhibition of voltage-gated potassium channels, resulting in the elongation of action potentials and heightened release of neurotransmitters. This, in turn, facilitates enhanced neuronal signalling. The recent emergence of nanoformulations has significantly transformed the administration and therapeutic capabilities of 4-aminopyridine. Formulations utilizing nanotechnology exhibit enhanced drug stability, precise control over release kinetics, and improved bioavailability. These technological advancements have created novel opportunities for the implementation of personalized medicine and targeted therapies within the field of neurology. This comprehensive review provides an overview of the historical context, structural analogues, physicochemical characteristics, and therapeutic effects of 4-aminopyridine on neural transmission. Additionally, this study emphasizes the potential of nanoformulations in improving the effectiveness of 4-aminopyridine – based treatments and suggests a promising outlook for their application in neurological disorders. In recent years, it is seen that there have been many publications on natural dyes in literature. In the studies carried out, one or more plants were taken and the color and fastness obtained with them in the presence of different mordants were examined. Beyond that, functionalities such as odor, antibacterial activity, and UV protection that natural dyes impart to the fabric were examined. However, the important thing that the literature needs is to represent also the results related to the industrial scale production since industry shows high interest to be able to use natural dyes. In this study, seven plant dyes have been used for the coloration of polyamide fabric. The studies have been conducted both on an industrial scale and at the laboratory scale. Based on the statistical analyses, four dyes with the highest color strength and fastness properties including catechu, madder, mulberry leaf, and pomegranate peel were selected for more studies on industrial scale. The results confirmed the good color strength and satisfactory fastness properties against repeated washing, rubbing, water, and perspiration for all selected dyes. The samples dyed with those dyes exhibited excellent protection against UV radiation. The results obtained in this study showed the potential of the selected natural dyes in eco-friendly industrial dyeing of nylon fabric with acceptable fastness properties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Effective herd management is critical to the profitability of dairy production, with a focus on cow health and reproductive success. Adequate preventive care and veterinary supervision, especially during the periparturient period, play a crucial role in preventing metabolic diseases and maintaining a sufficiently high reproductive rate in the herd. Nutritional management during the transition period also plays an important role in minimizing negative energy balance and improving reproductive performance. It is important to implement management strategies to reduce stress and to increase genetic selection for stress tolerance, as the presence of stressors and systemic inflammation increases the risk of metabolic disorders or reproductive system inflammation. Continuous monitoring with advanced systems facilitates early detection of systemic disorders and rapid medical intervention, contributing to improved cow health. Control of infectious diseases is also vitally important to maintain herd fertility, while early detection of pregnancy and control of mastitis are essential to maximise reproductive performance and herd health. Coordinated efforts between breeders, animal technicians, nutritionists and veterinarians are essential to maintain high levels of cow health and fertility. Crystal violet (CV) is an organic chloride salt and a triphenylmethane dye commonly used in the textile processing industry, also being used as a disinfectant and a biomedical stain. Although CV is widely used, it is carcinogenic to humans and is retained by industrial-produced effluent for an extended period. The different types of metal oxide (MOx) have impressive photocatalytic properties, allowing them to be utilized for pollutant degradation. The role of the photocatalyst is to facilitate oxidation and reduction processes by trapping light energy. In this study, we investigated different types of metal oxides, such as titanium dioxide (TiO2), zinc oxide (ZnO), zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), iron (III) oxide (Fe2O3), copper (II) oxide (CuO), copper (I) oxide (Cu2O), and niobium pentoxide (Nb2O5) for the CV decomposition reaction at ambient conditions. For characterization, BET and Raman spectroscopy were applied, providing findings showing that the surface area of the anatase TiO2 and ZnO were 5 m2/g and 12.1 m2/g, respectively. The activity tests over TiO2 and ZnO catalysts revealed that up to ~98% of the dye could be decomposed under UV irradiation in <2 h. The decomposition of CV is directly influenced by various factors, such as the types of MOx, the band gap–water splitting relationship, and the recombination rate of electron holes. We selected three superstorms (disturbance storm time [Dst] index less than -350 nT) of 2003-04 to study the thermospheric energy budget with a particular emphasis on the thermospheric cooling emission by nitric oxide via a wavelength of 5.3 ,wm. The nitric oxide radiative emission data are obtained from the Sounding of the Atmosphere by Broadband Emission Radiometry (SABER) instrument onboard the Thermosphere Ionosphere Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics (TIMED) satellite and the thermosphere ionosphere electrodynamic general circulation model (TIEGCM) simulation. Different energy sources for the magnetospheric energy injection and the thermospheric/ionospheric dissipation processes are calculated using empirical formulations, model simulations, and space-borne and ground-based measurements. The Joule heating rates calculated from different sources showed similar variations but significant differences in the magnitude. The nitric oxide cooling power is calculated by zonally and meridionally integrating the cooling flux in the altitude range of 100-250 km. The satellite observed that cooling flux responds faster to the energy input, as compared to the modeled results. The cooling power increases by an order of magnitude during storm time with maximum radiation observed during the recovery phase. Both the satellite-observed and modeled cooling powers show a strong positive correlation with the Joule heating power during the main phase of the storm. It is found that the maximum radiative power does not occur during the strongest storm, and it strongly depends on the duration of the main phase. The model simulation predicts a higher cooling power than that predicted by the observation. During a typical superstorm, on average, a cooling power of 1.87 χ 10[sup 5] GW exiting the thermosphere is estimated by the TIEGCM simulation. Successful preparation of PVA/SrTiO3/CNT polymer nanocomposite films was accomplished via the solution casting method. The structural, optical, and thermal properties of the films were tested by XRD, SEM, FTIR, TGA, and UV-visible spectroscopy. Inclusion of the SrTiO3/CNT nanofillers with a maximum of 1 wt% drastically improved the optical and thermal properties of PVA films. SrTiO3 has a cubic crystal structure, and its average crystal size was found to be 28.75 nm. SEM images showed uniform distribution in the sample with 0.3 wt% of SrTiO3/CNTs in the PVA film, while some agglomerations appeared in the samples of higher SrTiO3/CNT content, i.e., at 0.7 and 1.0 wt%, in the PVA polymer films. The inclusion of SrTiO3/CNTs improved the thermal stability of PVA polymer films. The direct and indirect optical band gaps of the PVA films decreased when increasing the mass of the SrTiO3/CNTs, while the single-oscillator energy (E0) and dispersion energy (Ed) increased. The films' refractive indices were gradually increased upon increasing the nanofillers' weight. In addition, improvements in the optical susceptibility and nonlinear refractive indices' values were also obtained. Yoga is an ancient Indian practice that involves the mind and body. It is a combination of physical exercises and postures with a focus on deep breathing and meditation. Yoga thereby promotes a healthy lifestyle which is one of the key factors in the prevention of various cardiovascular diseases. The practice of yoga might hence be effective in preventing the onset of these diseases. Yoga exerts its beneficial effects by favorable modulation of the autonomic system, reduction in oxidative stress, decreased inflammatory stress, improved endothelial function, and epigenetic changes. These changes might contribute not only to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases but also to delaying and preventing the onset of various modifiable cardiovascular risk factors. Curcumin is a biologically active phytochemical which manifests therapeutic activities in numerous health conditions, including cancer. Several curcuminoids obtained naturally and synthesized artificially also showcase anti-cancer and anti-tumorigenic effects. However, its water insolubility poses difficulties in its application to biological systems, lowering its availability in living tissues, which can be overcome by using various micro-encapsulation and nano-formulations of curcumin. When used in combination with other chemotherapeutic drugs, curcumin enhances the anti-carcinogen potential and reduces the side effects induced via chemotherapy. Structural modelling of basic pharmacophores of curcumin can enhance its biological and pharmacokinetic properties, as revealed by structure-activity relationship studies of curcumin. Various clinical trials of curcumin have proven its worth as an anti-neoplastic agent in humans, with minimal side effects. Its mechanism of action involves blockage of cell-signalling pathways and cellular enzymes, promotion of immunomodulatory effects and induction of programmed cell death in cancerous cells. Curcumin is an interesting molecule with diverse effects on various diseases, but its absolute potential has yet to be reached. Hence, more in-depth studies and clinical trials are needed. Breast cancer stands out as one of the most prevalent malignancies worldwide, necessitating a nuanced understanding of its molecular underpinnings for effective treatment. Hormone receptors in breast cancer cells substantially influence treatment strategies, dictating therapeutic approaches in clinical settings, serving as a guide for drug development, and aiming to enhance treatment specificity and efficacy. Natural compounds, such as curcumin, offer a diverse array of chemical structures with promising therapeutic potential. Despite curcumin's benefits, challenges like poor solubility and rapid metabolism have spurred the exploration of analogs. Here, we evaluated the efficacy of the curcumin analog NC2603 to induce cell cycle arrest in MCF-7 breast cancer cells and explored its molecular mechanisms. Our findings reveal potent inhibition of cell viability (IC50 = 5.6 μM) and greater specificity than doxorubicin toward MCF-7 vs. non-cancer HaCaT cells. Transcriptome analysis identified 12,055 modulated genes, most notably upregulation of GADD45A and downregulation of ESR1, implicating CDKN1A-mediated regulation of proliferation and cell cycle genes. We hypothesize that the curcumin analog by inducing GADD45A expression and repressing ESR1, triggers the expression of CDKN1A, which in turn downregulates the expression of many important genes of proliferation and the cell cycle. These insights advance our understanding of curcumin analogs' therapeutic potential, highlighting not just their role in treatment, but also the molecular pathways involved in their activity toward breast cancer cells. Solar panels are an ever-growing solution to generate clean energy. Lots of solar panels are popping up on rooftops, next to highways, and in massive solar farms. Unfortunately, all of these solar panels degrade over time and many need to be disposed of once as they reach their 25-year lifespan. However, they are tightly constructed in order to have such a long life, which makes recycling difficult. In addition, the recovered silicon is limited by its purity and cannot be directly reused in solar cells unless it goes through a costly purification process. Thus, it is necessary to explore new applications for recovered silicon, like its use as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Although this alternative avenue has garnered interest, comprehensive studies assessing its feasibility, environmental implications, and influence on the economy and supply chain are sparse. In this study, we offer a holistic overview of the current state of solar panel recycling, critically examine its technical viability, and provide an in-depth analysis of the associated environmental impact and economic and supply chain ramifications. Western disturbances (WDs) are synoptic-scale weather systems embedded within the subtropical westerly jet. Manifesting as upper-level troughs often associated with a lower-tropospheric low over Western India, they share some dynamical features with extratropical cyclones. WDs are most common during the boreal winter (December to March), during which they bring the majority of precipitation – both rain and snow – to the Western Himalaya, as well as to surrounding areas of north India, Pakistan and the Tibetan Plateau. WDs are also associated with weather hazards such as heavy snowfall, hailstorms, fog, cloudbursts, avalanches, frost, and coldwaves. In this paper, we review the recent understanding and development on WDs. Recent studies have collectively made use of novel data, novel analysis techniques, and the increasing availability of high-resolution weather and climate models. This review is separated into six main sections – structure and thermodynamics, precipitation and impacts, teleconnections, modelling experiments, forecasting at a range of scales, and paleoclimate and climate change – each motivated with a brief discussion of the accomplishments and limitations of previous research. A number of step changes in understanding are synthesised. Use of new modelling frameworks and tracking algorithms has significantly improved knowledge of WD structure and variability, and a more frequentist approach can now be taken. Improved observation systems have helped quantification of water security over the Western Himalaya. Convection-permitting models have improved our understanding of how WDs interact with the Himalayas to trigger natural hazards. Improvements in paleoclimate and future climate modelling experiments have helped to explain how WDs and their impacts over the Himalaya respond to large-scale natural and anthropogenic forcings. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) poses a significant health challenge in both developing and developed nations, with unparalleled morbidity, mortality, and economic tolls. Primary prevention of CVD through lifestyle modifications has been emphasized to address this issue. Yoga, an ancient practice dating back thousands of years with roots in the Harappan and Mohenjo-Daro civilizations, offers a potential solution. Hatha yoga, which includes physical movements and breathing techniques, is the most commonly practiced form today. The health benefits of yoga have recently gained attention and are being researched globally. Yoga is beneficial in both primary and secondary prevention of diseases, particularly CVD and its risk factors.
