We identified data-driven multidimensional physical activity (PA) profiles using several novel accelerometer-derived metrics. Participants aged 75, 80, and 85 (n = 441) wore triaxial accelerometers for 3–7 days. PA profiles were formed with k-means cluster analysis based on PA minutes, intensity, fragmentation, sit-to-stand transitions, and gait bouts for men and women. Associations with physical capacity and life-space mobility were examined using age-adjusted general linear models. Three profiles emerged: "Exercisers" and "actives" accumulated relatively high PA minutes, with actives engaging in lighter intensity PA. "Inactives" had the highest activity fragmentation and lowest PA volume, intensity, and gait bouts. Inactives showed lower scores in physical capacity and life-space mobility compared with exercisers and actives. Exercisers and actives had similar physical capacity and life-space mobility, except female exercisers had higher walking speed in the 6-min walk test. Background: To identify the clustering characteristics of individual-, family-, and school-level factors, and examine their associations with health-related physical fitness. Methods: A total of 145,893 Chinese children and adolescents aged 9–18 years participated in this cross-sectional study. The 2-step cluster analysis was conducted to identify clusters among individual-, family-, and school-level factors. Physical fitness indicator was calculated through sex- and age-specific z scores of forced vital capacity, standing long jump, sit-and-reach flexibility, body muscle strength, endurance running, and body mass index. Results: Three, 3, and 5 clusters were automatically identified at individual, family, and school levels, respectively. Students with low physical fitness indicator were more likely to be in the "longest sedentary time and skipping breakfast" cluster (odds ratio [OR] = 1.18; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.12–1.24), and "physical inactivity and insufficient protein consumption" cluster (OR = 1.07; 95% CI, 1.02–1.12) at individual level, the "single children and high parental education level" cluster (OR = 1.15; 95% CI, 1.10–1.21), and "no physical activity support and preference" cluster (OR = 1.30; 95% CI, 1.25–1.36) at family level, and the "physical education occupied" cluster (OR = 1.06; 95% CI, 1.01–1.11), and "insufficient physical education frequency" cluster (OR = 1.16; 95% CI, 1.08–1.24) at school level. Girls were more vulnerable to individual- and school-level clusters, while boys were more susceptible to family clusters; the younger students were more sensitive to school clusters, and the older students were more susceptible to family clusters (P-interaction <.05). Conclusions: This study confirmed different clusters at multilevel factors and proved their associations with health-related physical fitness, thus providing new perspective for developing targeted interventions. Purpose: Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (iNPH) is a neurological syndrome defined by gait disturbance, cognitive impairment and urinary incontinence. However, its clinical presentation can vary widely due to overlapping syndromes and common comorbidities in older adults. This study aims to provide practical guidance to aid in the clinical suspicion and support the diagnostic and therapeutic processes for these patients. Methods: Six quantitative variables regarding clinical, functional, and demographic aspects were considered for a large sample of patients with diagnosed iNPH. Principal component analysis (PCA) was adopted to define the main dimensions explaining the variability of the phenomenon. Then, two clusters of iNPH patients were described. Results: 178 patients were included in the analysis. The PCA produced two dimensions covering 61.8% of the total variability. The first one relied mainly on both clinical (mRS, iNPHGs) and functional (TUG, Tinetti) variables, while the second one was represented mainly on the demographic pattern (age and education). Cluster analysis depicted two main groups of patients. Cluster n.1 is composed of individuals who are older, more disabled, with poor functional performances, and highly symptomatic. Cluster n.2 patients are slightly younger, more educated, fitter, and with more nuanced clinical aspects. Conclusions: Profiling iNPH patients using quantitative variables and cluster analysis can help identify distinct characteristics of these patients, aiding in the guidance of both medical and surgical interventions. Background: The high complexity of systemic autoimmune diseases (SADs) has hindered precise management. This study aims to investigate heterogeneity in SADs. Methods: We applied a joint cluster analysis, which jointed multiple correspondence analysis and k-means, to immunomarkers and measured the heterogeneity of clusters by examining differences in immunomarkers and clinical manifestations. The electronic health records of patients who received an antinuclear antibody test and were diagnosed with SADs, namely systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and Sjögren's syndrome (SS), were retrieved between 2001 and 2016 from hospitals in Taiwan. Results: With distinctive patterns of immunomarkers, a total of 11,923 patients with the three SADs were grouped into six clusters. None of the clusters was composed only of a single SAD, and these clusters demonstrated considerable differences in clinical manifestation. Both patients with SLE and SS had a more dispersed distribution in the six clusters. Among patients with SLE, the occurrence of renal compromise was higher in Clusters 3 and 6 (52% and 51%) than in the other clusters (p < 0.001). Cluster 3 also had a high proportion of patients with discoid lupus (60%) than did Cluster 6 (39%; p < 0.001). Patients with SS in Cluster 3 were the most distinctive because of the high occurrence of immunity disorders (63%) and other and unspecified benign neoplasm (58%) with statistical significance compared with the other clusters (all p < 0.05). Conclusions: The immunomarker-driven clustering method could recognise more clinically relevant subgroups of the SADs and would provide a more precise diagnosis basis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We advise a novel measure to determine the unknown number of clusters underlying a designated sample through implementation of the parametric logistic regression model. The regression analysis is carried out to estimate the probabilities of inclusion for every individual member from data, irrespective of its parent distribution, to each of the clusters under existence. The proposed one is shown to be superior to its well-known rivals by means of both synthetic and real-world data sets, while designed to significantly reduce the computational burden serving our desired purpose. Ossicular fixation disturbs the mobility of the ossicular chain and causes conductive hearing loss. To diagnose the lesion area, otologists typically assess ossicular mobility through intraoperative palpation. Quantification of ossicular mobility and evidence-based diagnostic criteria are necessary for accurate assessment of each pathology, because diagnosis via palpation can rely on the surgeons' experiences and skills. In this study, ossicular mobilities were simulated in 92 pathological cases of ossicular fixation as compliances using a finite-element (FE) model of the human middle ear. The validity of the ossicular mobilities obtained from the FE model was verified by comparison with measurements of ossicular mobilities in cadavers using our newly developed intraoperative ossicular mobility measurement system. The fixation-induced changes in hearing were validated by comparison with changes in the stapedial velocities obtained from the FE model with measurements reported in patients and in temporal bones. The 92 cases were classified into four groups by conducting a cluster analysis based on the simulated ossicular compliances. Most importantly, the cases of combined fixation of the malleus and/or the incus with otosclerosis were classified into two different surgical procedure groups by degree of fixation, i.e., malleo-stapedotomy and stapedotomy. These results suggest that pathological characteristics can be detected using quantitatively measured ossicular compliances followed by cluster analysis, and therefore, an effective diagnosis of ossicular fixation is achievable. Background: The tribe Ampelopsideae plants are important garden plants with both medicinal and ornamental values. The study of codon usage bias (CUB) facilitates a deeper comprehension of the molecular genetic evolution of species and their adaptive strategies. The joint analysis of CUB in chloroplast genomes (cpDNA) offers valuable insights for in-depth research on molecular genetic evolution, biological resource conservation, and elite breeding within this plant family. Results: The base composition and codon usage preferences of the eighteen chloroplast genomes were highly similar, with the GC content of bases at all positions of their codons being less than 50%. This indicates that they preferred A/T bases. Their effective codon numbers were all in the range of 35–61, which indicates that the codon preferences of the chloroplast genomes of the 18 Ampelopsideae plants were relatively weak. A series of analyses indicated that the codon preference of the chloroplast genomes of the 18 Ampelopsideae plants was influenced by a combination of multiple factors, with natural selection being the primary influence. The clustering tree generated based on the relative usage of synonymous codons is consistent with some of the results obtained from the phylogenetic tree of chloroplast genomes, which indicates that the clustering tree based on the relative usage of synonymous codons can be an important supplement to the results of the sequence-based phylogenetic analysis. Eventually, 10 shared best codons were screened on the basis of the chloroplast genomes of 18 species. Conclusion: The codon preferences of the chloroplast genome in Ampelopsideae plants are relatively weak and are primarily influenced by natural selection. The codon composition of the chloroplast genomes of the eighteen Ampelopsideae plants and their usage preferences were sufficiently similar to demonstrate that the chloroplast genomes of Ampelopsideae plants are highly conserved. Asymmetric timber trade between least-developed countries with large forest resources but backward processing industries and emerging economies has led to an uneven distribution of value in international timber commodity chains. Selling their raw timber with no domestic value added contributes little to socio-economic development and is associated with high rates of deforestation. The Lao PDR has served as a raw timber frontier for advanced timber industries in neighboring countries, leading to forest loss and related environmental problems. In response, since 2015, the Lao government has adopted drastic policy measures to end forest degradation and upgrade its timber industry (e.g., log export ban). Using teak as an example, our study provides empirical ex-post evidence on the effectiveness of state-imposed timber industry upgrading policies. The study relies on expert interviews with key policy actors at national and local levels, as well as an enterprise survey and cluster analysis conducted in Xayyabouly province. This study explored beer consumers' and producers' perceptions of using local fruit and agroindustrial by-products in brewing. An online survey was conducted in Italy with 496 beer consumers and 54 beer producers. The survey assessed sociodemographic information, consumption behavior, and support for brewery neolocalism, along with brewers' perceptions of the sustainability of their breweries. Findings showed high consumers' involvement in sustainable eating and high support for breweries utilizing local resources and operating in a sustainable way. Breweries rated their sustainability practices as moderate, and most of them considered their efforts in using local raw materials and repurposing by-products as "excellent". Both consumers and producers considered beer made with agroindustrial by-products less tasty than those with local fruit (p < 0.05), but no significant difference in willingness to buy was observed (p > 0.05). According to cluster analysis results, the ideal consumer profile for sustainable beers was characterized by a higher proportion of females prioritizing sustainability and local sourcing over sensory quality. Therefore, using local materials or agroindustrial by-products can align brewers' practices with consumers' preferences, enhancing competitiveness and market positioning by fostering a sense of sustainability and locality. The system of local and regional self-governments in the EU is characterized by an extremely large number of small units. The situation in Croatia, a country with only 3.87 million inhabitants, is no different. There are 576 local and regional self-government units. The basic feature of self-government in Croatia is the equal scope of authority in performing tasks, regardless of the number of inhabitants, the area they inhabit, or their ability to pursue sustainability objectives. In this paper, we analyze the capacities of performing municipal services in 127 Croatian cities and examine whether cities differ in their ability to perform public functions. Results show that cities can be grouped into three different clusters. The validity of the results on clusters was confirmed with an ANOVA, where a significant difference was found between all three clusters. Ranking cities according to the capacity for providing municipal services shows that cities with higher capacities are clustered together, implying that cities indeed differ in their ability to perform municipal services. Further, the results indicate that 80 percent of the cities belong to the cluster that consists of cities with a very low capacity for providing public services. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) comprises a cluster of cardiovascular risk factors. Physical inactivity and reduced physical fitness are associated with one or more components of MetS. However, MetS has many components, and the unclear relationship between the components and physical fitness parameters can provide a plain and straightforward understanding of the clustering method. Aim: To identify the relationship between physical fitness parameters, physical activity levels, and components of MetS using hierarchical cluster analysis. Methods: One hundred twenty-one patients (mean age = 51.4 ± 7.1/years, F:90, M:31) who were diagnosed as having MetS according to the National Cholesterol Education Program-Adult Treatment Panel III (NCEP-ATP III) criteria were included in the study. Fasting plasma glucose (FPG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and triglyceride (TG) were analyzed. Systolic and diastolic blood pressures, (SBP and DBP), were evaluated. Body composition (waist and hip circumference, (WC and HC), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), body mass index (BMI), percent body fat, and visceral fat), upper and lower extremity muscle strength (dynamometer), and functional exercise capacity [6-minute walk test (6MWT)] were assessed as physical fitness parameters. Physical activity levels were assessed using a pedometer and number of steps (NS) was determined. Results: Of the patients, 45.5% were diagnosed as having MetS based on four components. The dendrogram consisted of two main clusters and four subclusters. The main cluster I composed of BMI, HC, WC, visceral fat, HDL-C, percent fat, SBP, DBP, and percent quadriceps. The main cluster II comprised FPG, TG, WHR, handgrip strength, 6MWT, and NS. Conclusion: MetS components clustered with different physical fitness parameters. The clusters in the dendrogram can provide substantial implications for heterogeneous MetS components and physical fitness parameters. Statistical morphological variations at the population level serve as a robust foundation for species delimitation and taxonomic treatment. We employed this approach to investigate species delimitation within the Ptilagrostis dichotoma species complex (Poaceae), which is characterized by open panicles. While three species have been described, the boundaries between these species and the morphological distributions of all taxonomic traits remain unclear. In this study, we examined the geographical variability of 19 morphological traits based on at least six individuals from each of the 28 populations across the entire distributional range of the species complex. Our statistical analyses identified five distinct phenotypic clusters with specific geographical preferences. Three of these clusters corresponded to the previously described species, while the remaining two clusters represented previously undescribed species. Furthermore, our findings highlight several traits, such as basal leaf scabrosity, panicle branch pulvinae, and glume length, which exhibit distinct gaps between phenotypic units and prove highly valuable for species delimitation. Finally, two new species are described and a key is provided to differentiate the five species. This morphological revision establishes a basis for future studies on species boundaries and divergences of the complex based on other evidence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Previous studies have shown that therapists' performance varies, known as therapist effects, and have indicated that therapists who excel in one treatment outcome may not necessarily be effective in other outcomes. This observational naturalistic study aimed to enhance our understanding of therapist effects and the assessment of therapists' performance in different areas. The study included 68 therapists and 5,582 clients from a large mental health facility. Information about their learning activities was available for a subsample of 49 therapists. Separate multilevel analyses were conducted for treatment outcomes, including case mix-corrected OQ-45 change scores, dropout rates, referrals to other facilities, treatment duration, and client satisfaction ratings. A hierarchical cluster analysis was performed to identify groups of therapists based on their performance across various treatment outcomes. Additionally, differences in therapist characteristics among the clusters identified were examined. Therapist effects varied across different outcomes, ranging from small (2.6% for OQ-45 change) to moderate (6.5% for number of sessions). The cluster analysis revealed four distinct clusters of therapists with specific profiles. They had performance differences in certain areas but not in others. This exploratory study supports the notion that therapists exhibit diverse profiles regarding treatment outcomes. These findings are significant for future investigations of therapist effects that aim to identify the characteristics of effective therapists and in the context of personalizing treatment for clients. Young people may adapt to vision impairment (VI) in a variety of ways. To explore heterogeneity in social participation, data were mined for distinct patterns. Existing data from 258 young people with VI, aged between 26 and 44 years (M = 35.3 years; SD = 5.07), were clustered. Social participation was measured by four closed-ended questions and the Social Network Map. Loneliness was measured by the De Jong Gierveld Loneliness scale. K-medoids clustering with the Partitioning Around Medoids (PAM) algorithm was used to cluster social participation variables and age.Eight clusters were identified, with participants in the two largest clusters, clusters 1 (n = 84) and 2 (n = 50), scoring high on almost all social participation outcomes. Participants in cluster 8 (n = 14) had the lowest social participation scores. However, also over half of the participants in clusters 4, 5, 6, and 7 experienced feelings of loneliness. Findings demonstrate considerable heterogeneity in social participation among young people with VI, which however does not link to loneliness. The main purpose of the present study was to examine the typology of Palestinian student-teachers living in Israel according to four variables: (a) the type of motivation, (b) perceived suitability, (c) career choice satisfaction and (d) student-teacher commitment. Data were collected from 113 first-year Palestinian Arab students studying at teacher training colleges in Israel. questionnaires and interviews served as methods to collect data. cluster analysis was performed in order to distinguish between different types of student teachers. Regional Public Universities (RPUs) advance public good missions to foster postsecondary access, student-centeredness, and regional wellbeing. Despite the important contributions that RPUs make to their regions and students, scholars and the media often view the sector as amorphous and undistinguished, or they define RPUs by what they are not (e.g., elite, selective, community colleges, etc.). This sequential mixed methods research study grounded in organizational ecology theory and involving content analysis and cluster analysis proposes a typology of RPUs. Specifically, five RPU types are proposed: accessible, midsized master's-degree granting RPUs; regionally focused Historically Black Colleges and Universities; rural-serving and CUNY RPUs; large, urban regional-serving RPUs; and Puerto Rican Hispanic-serving RPUs. This study significantly advances conceptual understanding about RPUs by disrupting deficit-based understandings about the sector being shapeless and amorphous by showing that the sector contains distinct institutional types that represent unique approaches to fulfilling the RPU public good mission. Need for the study: The need for this study arises from the escalating demands on healthcare systems, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to understand the adoption of telemedicine practices across European Union (EU) countries and their impact on healthcare sustainability. Methodology: This study employs hierarchical and K-Means clustering to analyse EU citizens' attitudes towards teleconsultations during COVID-19. Principal component analysis (PCA) is used for data compression and insight extraction. Data is sourced from Eurofound's 2020 and 2021 surveys, involving extensive participant responses across the EU. Findings: The study's findings reveal significant shifts towards digital healthcare solutions, such as an increase in online consultations and prescriptions. It identifies different patterns of telemedicine use across EU countries, influenced by socioeconomic and geographical factors. These findings offer insights into future healthcare policy and strategy development. Practical implications: The findings provide valuable insights into the shifts in telemedicine adoption in the EU, highlighting the significance of economic and sociological factors in healthcare trends. Purpose: The chapter analyses the diversity of the European Union (EU) member states in terms of the transition to a sustainable, green, and just economy. Need for the study: Sustainable development is an important concern that the EU approaches by aiming to transition to a greener economy, fairly and inclusively. Moreover, the actual context, post-pandemic period and ongoing war at the EU border, makes the social and economic development of the EU countries matter even more in the light of this just transition. Methodology: The authors relied on a multidimensional approach, using principal component analysis (PCA) to reduce the dimensionality of the dataset. The cluster analysis allowed us to group the countries in such a way that made it possible to identify the best and worst performers, as well as certain patterns that can be the basis for the formulation of good practices and transferable to the states that need more support in the transition to a green economy. Findings: The results indicated that EU member states can be grouped into five clusters, each needing specific policies to ensure sustainable and inclusive development. Denmark, Finland, and Sweden turned out the best performers, while Estonia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, and Romania proved to have the most unfavourable situation. Practical implications: The findings provide relevant policy implication insights for policy decision-makers in the field of green economy, economic development, and social policies, with directions for future research. Purpose: The relationship between vitamin intake and cancer risk in the chronic kidney disease (CKD) population is unknown. For this reason, we investigated the relationship between dietary vitamin intake and cancer risk in CKD patients and looked for effective vitamin dietary patterns. Methods: This study included 3518 CKD patients from 2007 to 2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database. All participants were categorized into four groups based on vitamin intake by K-mean clustering. The data were collected and analyzed from June 2023 to December 2023. Results: A total of 3518 CKD patients with a mean age of (61.8 ± 16.3) years were included in the study. During a median follow-up of 7.3 years, 137 participants died of cancer. In the multivariate adjusted cox proportional hazards model for single vitamin intake, vitamin E Q4 intake (reference Q1) reduced cancer mortality (HR (95% CI) = 0.45 (0.24–0.87), P = 0.018). Further plotting of the restricted cubic spline curve revealed a linearly decreasing relationship between vitamin E intake and cancer mortality (Poverall = 0.010 Pnon-linear = 0.163). In the multivariate adjusted cox proportional hazards model for multivitamin co-intake, the vitamin C/K intake group reduced cancer mortality compared to the low vitamin intake group (HR (95% CI) = 0.42 (0.20–0.88), P = 0.022). Conclusion: Increased vitamin C intake was independently associated with reduced cancer risk in CKD patients, and a vitamin dietary pattern with high vitamin C/K intake was also effective in reducing cancer risk. Persuasion knowledge (PK) has become an essential construct to understand how sponsored content affects audiences. As limited or undeveloped PK makes people vulnerable to persuasion, it is crucial to understand which factors determine people's dispositional PK of sponsored content. This study aims to (1) explore whether individual factors and medium type determine people's levels of dispositional PK, and (2) identify subgroups with different levels of PK and estimate the prevalence of these groups. Results from a cross sectional survey (N = 614) show that need for cognition, education, age, medium usage, and medium type determine individual levels of conceptual and/or attitudinal PK. Thus, individual levels of dispositional PK of sponsored content depend on one's ability and motivation to process information and one's experience with sponsored content. Furthermore, based on a cluster analysis with three central components of dispositional PK (i.e., understanding tactic, self-reflective knowledge, and scepticism), we present four distinct groups: the Naïve (the largest group), the Critical Realists, the Uncritical Realists, and the Invulnerables. Our findings reveal that there are different types of consumers, and improve our theoretical understanding of who have better developed dispositional PK of sponsored content. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The natural and anthropogenic alterations in groundwater are exposing human health to nitrates and fluorides ingestion, especially in arid and semi-arid regions. The study focused on the depth-wise assessment of groundwater aquifers (n = 150) and non-carcinogenic health risks to vulnerable population in semi-arid regions of South, North and Central Punjab, Pakistan. The water quality index delineated the shallow and moderate aquifers unfit for human consumption with high values in North region (88%) as "very poor" to "unsuitable for drinking" as compared to the South and Central regions. The North region (56%) was categorized as high risk zone for nitrate pollution (2.48 times), while fluorides affected aquifers of the South region. The piper diagram elucidated bicarbonates prominence in the North and South, while bicarbonates and chlorides type in the Central region aquifers. The Gibbs plot attributed geogenic exchanges like silicate-weathering and ion-exchange mechanisms as dominant groundwater features. The non-carcinogenic health risks for nitrates were higher in the North region (Children: 1.36E+00 > Adult: 1.34E+00 > Infants: 1.08E+00) while for fluorides, South region (Children: 1.18E+00 > Adults: 1.17E+00) was at risk. The overall health impact was higher in South > North > Central for Children > Adults > Infants, respectively. Nitrates and fluorides made children (age 1–12 years) vulnerable to non-carcinogenic health risks in these regions. The study's primary purpose was to recognise the effects of determinants on the level of fertility and thereby explain the differences in trends in the regions of Slovakia. At the turn of the century, the differences in fertility in regions increased, but the total fertility rate decreased. Multivariate statistical methods clarified the regional effects of the level and nature of fertility. Initial regression surveys indicated weak effects between regions, which led to applying factor and cluster analysis to establish regional types. Comprehensive regression analysis was then applied. The strength and nature of regional relationships differed at the inter- and intra-regional levels. Research has demonstrated significant differences in fertility rates dependent on the socioeconomic environment, as regional types uniquely link to determinants. Moreover, each determinant has specific spatial patterns with unequal regression coefficients at different regional levels, which cannot be evaluated constantly. Knowing how spatial variation in fecundity occurs will enable future studies to elucidate the processes involved. Finally, fertility is vital for social assessment and policy formulation, the study’s findings could inform local decision-makers and planners in identifying the socioeconomic conditions underlying fertility at the regional level and planning appropriate intervention strategies. Purpose: The heterogeneity of autism is well documented, but few studies have studied the heterogeneity of gesture production ability in autistic children. The present study aimed to identify subgroups of autistic children who displayed heterogeneous gesture production abilities and explore the underlying factors, including autism characteristics, intellectual ability, and language ability, that were associated with the heterogeneity. Methods: A total of 65 Chinese autistic children (mean age = 5;3) participated. Their autism characteristics and intellectual ability were assessed by standardized measurements. Language output and gesture production were captured from a parent-child interaction task. Results: We conducted a hierarchical cluster analysis and identified four distinct clusters. Cluster 1 and Cluster 2 both had low gesture production whereas Cluster 3 and Cluster 4 had high gesture production. Both Clusters 1 and 2 had relatively strong autism characteristics, in comparison to Clusters 3 and 4. Conclusions: Our findings revealed that children with stronger autism characteristics may gesture less often than those with weaker characteristics. However, the relationship between language ability and intellectual ability and gesture production was not clear. The impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on energy prices contributed significantly to European price increases in 2022. The study aims to find a linkage between the performance of 24 EU countries during the energy inflation crisis and their preparedness, vulnerability or exposure. The verified hypotheses reflect on the role of initial conditions of countries and the one-year impact of energy inflation on their economic performance. The two-step analysis first creates six clusters of countries based on their energy, trade, financial and political vulnerability, and preparedness indicators. The second step is to explore the shifts of clusters in expectations on macroeconomic indicators. Specific patterns of country groups are explored in the value and evolution of wartime indicators of inflation, GDP growth, consumer and business confidence, as well as FX volatility. The exploration concludes that the entry variables of clustering are relevant, and the EU countries can be segmented by dependency, energy, financial, and political aspects. Thus, it is possible to verify the distance in risk and exposure among EU economies. The impact variables demonstrated that the extent of the inflationary effect depended on the initial conditions. Objective: The present study examined client profiles in observed emotion to explore possible subgroups among clients given that there is substantial heterogeneity in clients' expression of emotion in therapy. Subgroups were identified using the sequential model of emotional processing, which posits that global distress, shame/fear and rejecting anger represent 'early expressions of distress', whereas assertive anger, self‐compassion and grief/hurt are conceptualised to be 'adaptive states' that predict good outcomes. The present study also offers a unique strategy for studying differences in clients' emotional presentation with implications for within‐session assessment by therapists. Method: Sections of videotaped therapy sessions for 34 participants in emotion‐focussed therapy were coded for each emotional state. Through cluster analysis, participants were grouped based on the relative magnitude of each emotion state in the model. Results: In the first set of analyses, two naturalistic groups were formed: Cluster 2 had higher levels of adaptive emotion and rejecting anger than Cluster 1. There was a significantly greater proportion of good within‐session outcomes in Cluster 2 than in Cluster 1. In the second set of analyses, a separate cluster analysis categorised participants based on their early expressions of distress. Four groups were described as follows: Distressed, Protesters, Fearful & Ashamed and Minimally Distressed. Only the Minimally Distressed group showed significantly higher rates of good within‐session outcome. Discussion: These findings provide support for the emotional processing model by using novel methods and analyses. Background and aims: Previously identified national drinking patterns in Europe lack comparability and might be no longer be valid due to changes in economic conditions and policy frameworks. We aimed to identify the most recent alcohol drinking patterns in Europe based on comparable alcohol exposure indicators using a data‐driven approach, as well as identifying temporal changes and establishing empirical links between these patterns and indicators of alcohol‐related harm. Design: Data from the World Health Organization's monitoring system on alcohol exposure indicators were used. Repeated cross‐sectional hierarchical cluster analyses were applied. Differences in alcohol‐attributable harm between clusters of countries were analyzed via linear regression. Setting: European Union countries, plus Iceland, Norway and Ukraine, for 2000, 2010, 2015 and 2019. Participants/Cases: Observations consisted of annual country data, at four different time points for alcohol exposure. Harm indicators were only included for 2019. Measurements Alcohol exposure indicators included alcohol per capita consumption (APC), beverage‐specific consumption and prevalence of drinking status indicators (lifetime abstainers, current drinkers, former drinkers and heavy episodic drinking). Alcohol‐attributable harm was measured using age‐standardized alcohol‐attributable Disability‐Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) lost and deaths per 100 000 people. Findings The same six clusters were identified in 2019, 2015 and 2010, mainly characterized by type of alcoholic beverage and prevalence drinking status indicators, with geographical interpretation. Two‐thirds of the countries remained in the same cluster over time, with one additional cluster identified in 2000, characterized by low APC. The most recent drinking patterns were shown to be significantly associated with alcohol‐attributable deaths and DALY rates. Compared with wine‐drinking countries, the mortality rate per 100 000 people was significantly higher in Eastern Europe with high spirits and 'other' beverage consumption [ β^ = 90, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 55–126], and in Eastern Europe with high lifetime abstainers and high spirits consumption (β^ = 42, 95% CI = 4–78). Conclusions: European drinking patterns appear to be clustered by level of beverage‐specific consumption, with heavy episodic drinkers, current drinkers and lifetime abstainers being distinguishing factors between clusters. Despite the overall stability of the clusters over time, some countries shifted between drinking patterns from 2000 to 2019. This study examines hotel water management in Madeira, Portugal and Tenerife, Spain, which differ in water stress and tourism pressure, both much higher in Tenerife. Determinants of hotel water use and water-saving measures are evaluated using correlations and cluster analyses. In Tenerife, more decisive implementation of water-saving measures results in much lower consumption. Conversely, in Madeira, hotel size and category appear to overshadow the effect of water-saving measures. The novelty of this study lies in applying the same methodology to two different destinations, highlighting the role of external factors in shaping hotel water management, while exploring water-saving measures in depth. Background: Studies of time trends in Nordic adolescents' mental health have often relied on analyses of adolescents' psychosomatic symptoms. In this study, we examine adolescents' self-reports on mental health in the context of the dual factor model, which encompasses both overt manifestations of mental health symptoms and subjective perception of one's health status. Method: The objective of this study was to employ a person-oriented approach utilizing cluster analysis to discern time trends in mental health profiles of Nordic adolescents, using their psychosomatic complaints and their perception of their overall health as cluster variables. The resulting health profiles were then subjected to a comparative analysis with regard to different measures of psychological and social adjustment. The mental health profiles were based on data from the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) survey, which was conducted among almost 50000 15-year-olds in five Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden) between 2002 and 2022. Results: Mental health profiles exhibiting comparable content were observed in all Nordic countries, including profiles indicating adequate health, perceived good health, perceived poor health, high psychosomatic complaints, and dual health problems (defined as both high psychosomatic complaints and perceived poor health). These health profiles showed similar trends over time in the Nordic countries. Significant gender differences were observed. In 2002, adequate health was the dominant profile for both sexes. After 20 years, however, the high psychosomatic profile became the most common profile among girls. Among the three risk profiles, namely perceived poor health, high psychosomatic complaints and dual health problems, adolescents in the dual problems profile had the most psychological and social adjustment problems. Conclusions: The comparatively lower incidence of adjustment problems among adolescents in the high psychosomatic profile relative to the dual mental health group challenges the prevailing view that there has been a sharp increase in mental health problems among Nordic adolescents. This view was largely based on the observed rise in psychosomatic symptoms. Indeed, there was a doubling in the proportion of adolescents in the high psychosomatic complaints profile between 2002 and 2022. Lithium in coal, as a new type of associated mineral resource, has considerable potential for exploration. Exploration of high-lithium coal seams is essential for developing and using the associated lithium resources. To explore the distribution of lithium resources in the early stages of development in coal seams, the relationship between coal seam logging data and lithium content was analyzed by taking Guojiadi Coal Mine (China) as example. By analyzing the correlation between the different logging curves and the lithium content in coal and combining the K-means algorithm to identify the logging characteristics of different lithium-containing coal seams, we finally obtained the logging identification characteristics of high-lithium coal seams. The results reveal differences in the logging curves of coal seams with different lithium contents. The natural gamma and lateral resistivity of high-lithium coal seams are approximately 80 API and 100 Ω.M, respectively. Our study shows that the early identification of high-lithium coal seams can be evaluated from a logging perspective. We propose a preliminary identification method of high-lithium coal seam based on logging curve parameters by clustering analysis of borehole logging data to achieve accurate prediction. Despite the long research history on the genus Coelastrella, its species diversity and biotechnological potential have not been fully explored. For the first time, cluster analysis of morphological characteristics was done in the representatives of the said genus. The results obtained have shown that morphological similarity does not necessarily indicate a molecular genetic relationship. It the light of it, the taxonomic status of species can reliably be determined using specific DNA region, such as 18S–ITS1–5.8S–ITS2. The V4 and V9 regions of gene 18S rRNA are relatively conservative fragments which are not suitable for species identification. The ITS2 can be used as a "short barcode". Among the advanced machine methods for delimitation species, the most effective algorithm for distinguishing Coelastrella species was the Generalized Mixed Yule Coalescent (GMYC) method. This paper represented for the first time our comprehensive review of the works devoted to the analysis of the biotechnological potential of representatives of the genus Coelastrella and shows that fatty acid composition of the three main chemogroups within the studied genus differs. In the future, this may form the basis for predicting the composition of the fatty acid profile of new strains, which is important while searching for organisms with specified biotechnological properties. In conclusion, an integrative approach was employed to describe Coelastrella affinis sp. nov., a new species of the genus Coelastrella with high biotechnological potential. Mental rotation (MR), a key aspect of spatial reasoning, is highly predictive of success in STEM fields. This study analyzed strategies employed by 27,600 eighthgrade students during a digital MR task from the 2017 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in mathematics. Utilizing K-means cluster analysis to categorize behavioral and performance patterns, we identified four distinct profiles: Cognitive Offloaders (15% of the sample), Internal Visualizers (55%), External Visualizers (5%), and Non-Triers (25%). Cognitive Offloaders, skilled at minimizing cognitive load by eliminating incorrect options, demonstrated the highest MR accuracy rates at 45%. Internal Visualizers, relying less on digital tools and more on mental strategies, achieved robust performance with an average score of 38%. External Visualizers, despite their extensive use of assistive tools and greater time investment, scored an average of 36%. Non-Triers showed minimal engagement and correspondingly the lowest performance, averaging 29%. These findings not only underscore the diverse strategies students adopt in solving MR tasks but also emphasize the need for educational strategies that are tailored to accommodate different cognitive styles. By integrating MR training into the curriculum and enhancing teacher preparedness to support diverse learning needs, this study advocates for educational reforms to promote equitable outcomes in mathematics and broader STEM fields. Consumers' involvement in the development of new goods and services is growing, and thus understanding food motives is crucial for various fisheries stakeholders to manage fish value chains. In addition, traceability is becoming more prominent in guiding consumers' behaviour. Yet, the latter can be considered a source of confusion, as the multiplicity of certifications and labelling systems can be overwhelming. A national web-based survey was conducted on a representative sample of Italian and Spanish consumers. From the literature, a set of 13 attributes was chosen to identify the most important factors guiding consumers' choice, and various groups in each population were identified using hierarchical cluster analysis. Our findings provide valuable insights for fish value chain stakeholders, enabling them to optimize fisheries supply chains, educate consumers about diverse fish species, and promote more sustainable decision-making. Food insecurity (FI) expresses irregular access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food. We analyze the association between clusters of sociodemographic characteristics and FI in university students from Mexico. The Latin American and Caribbean Food Security Scale was applied, and household type, socioeconomic status (SES), and the characteristics of the head of the household, among others, were asked in a cross-sectional study. We performed Two-Step cluster analysis and logistic regression models. We included 466 university students (72.5% women, 47% with FI). We identified three clusters; Cluster-1 (n = 163) included a single-parent (37.4%) or co-resident/roommate (27%) household type, middle SES (63.2%); the head of the household is usually a woman (76.1%), single (71.8%), and with bachelor's degree (41.7%) or less educational level (46.6%). Cluster-2 (n = 144) included the nuclear (89.6%) household type, high SES (76.4%); the head of the household is usually a man (79.2%), in a relationship (99.3%), and with a bachelor's degree (63.2%) or graduate level (33.3%). Cluster-3 (n = 147) is very similar to Cluster-2. The difference is that Cluster-3 includes middle SES (70.1%), and the head of the household's educational level is high school or less (100%). Only belonging to Cluster-1 was positively associated with FI (OR = 1.96, 95%CI: 1.24, 3.09). These results show the interrelationships between multiple sociodemographic characteristics and should contribute to developing interventions that simultaneously address numerous sociodemographic factors to diminish FI in university students. Incremental sheet forming is a process for the production of sheet metal parts in small batch sizes. Due to the relatively low geometrical accuracy and the lack of precise and fast finite element analysis simulations of the process, industrial use cases are rare. Recently, a vast amount of scientific approaches simulated the process by utilizing machine learning techniques. Their success is limited by the quantity and quality of the used process data. Research institutes are struggling to gather enough data without industrial cooperations. For maximizing the distribution of process data in an experimental series and therefore their applicability for machine learning, the authors present a novel cluster analysis approach to systematically extend an existing database. Background: Nurses are increasingly demanded to achieve gold-standards of care with fewer resources. Dealing effectively with stress experienced in their daily-work-life is thus crucial. This study is based on the Demands-Resources-and-Individual-Effects (DRIVE) Nurses Model and applied the person-centred approach with a twofold objective: 1. to identify patterns of coping strategies (Problem-Focused; Seek-Advice; Self-Blame; Wishful-Thinking; Escape/Avoidance) adopted by nurses to deal with perceived stress; 2. to explore potential differences in perceived Demands (Effort), Resources (Rewards, Job-Control, Social-Support), and Psychopathological Symptoms (Anxiety, Phobic-Anxiety, Obsessive–Compulsive, Somatization, Depression, Interpersonal-Sensitivity, Hostility, Psychoticism, Paranoid-Ideation) according to the emerged patterns. Method: This cross-sectional study was reported by using the STROBE Checklist. Overall, 265 nursing professionals completed self-report measures. Non-hierarchical k-means-cluster-analysis was employed to derive patterns of coping. MANOVAs were used to test differences in Demands, Resources, and Psychopathological Symptoms according to the emerged patterns. Results: Three stable and meaningful patterns of coping were identified and labelled as Active/Solution-Oriented, Dysregulated/Emotion-focused, and Passive/Disengaged. Nurses belonging to Dysregulated/Emotion-focused group emerged to be at higher risk (higher effort/psychopathological suffering; lower resources) – followed by Passive/Disengaged group – in comparison with nurses belonging to Active/Solution-Oriented group. Conclusion: Fostering nurses' awareness of their latent coping patterns and supporting active approaches/emotional regulation strategies for stress management should represent a key goal when defining interventions promoting nurses' health within/beyond the healthcare settings. Background: The objective of this study was to examine the prevalence of unhealthy lifestyle behaviors, overweight, and obesity in Dutch childhood cancer survivors (CCSs) compared with sibling controls and the Dutch general population. Other aims were to assess associated factors of unhealthy lifestyle behaviors, overweight, and obesity and to identify subgroups of CCSs at risk for these unhealthy statuses. Methods: The authors included 2253 CCSs and 906 siblings from the Dutch Childhood Cancer Survivor Study‐Late Effects After Childhood Cancer cohort, part 1, and added data from the Dutch general population. Questionnaire data were collected on overweight and obesity (body mass index >25.0 kg/m2), meeting physical activity guidelines (>150 minutes per week of moderate or vigorous exercises), excessive alcohol consumption (>14 and >21 alcoholic consumptions per week for women and men, respectively), daily smoking, and monthly drug use. Multivariable logistic regression analyses and two‐step cluster analyses were performed to examine sociodemographic‐related, health‐related, cancer‐related, and treatment‐related associated factors of unhealthy lifestyle behaviors and to identify subgroups of CCSs at risk for multiple unhealthy behaviors. Results: CCSs more often did not meet physical activity guidelines than their siblings (30.0% vs. 19.3%; p <.001). Married as marital status, lower education level, nonstudent status, and comorbidities were common associated factors for a body mass index ≥25.0 kg/m2 and insufficient physical activity, whereas male sex and lower education were shared associated factors for excessive alcohol consumption, daily smoking, and monthly drug use. A subgroup of CCSs was identified as excessive alcohol consumers, daily smokers, and monthly drug users. Conclusions: The current results emphasize the factors associated with unhealthy behaviors and the potential identification of CCSs who exhibit multiple unhealthy lifestyle behaviors. The results of this study indicate a higher prevalence of physical inactivity in childhood cancer survivors compared with sibling controls and the Dutch population, emphasizing the necessity for personalized health behavior interventions in childhood cancer survivors. These findings can be used in clinical practice to create awareness and to identify subgroups of childhood cancer survivors who need special attention regarding health behaviors. Promoting sustainable and equitable public transportation services is essential for addressing disparities and preventing social exclusion among diverse population groups for daily activities. This paper proposes a comprehensive approach to assess transport disadvantages and identify areas with limited access to public transport and services. By combining statistical and geographic techniques, we analyze demographic, socioeconomic, and travel data to spatially contextualize areas based on the social structure and understand the characteristics of population groups facing transportation challenges in the Porto Metropolitan Area. Cluster analysis results revealed four distinct clusters with homogeneous characteristics. In contrast, service area analysis assessed the public transport coverage to identify served zones, the population within these zones, and activities reached in the region. Our findings indicate that suburban and rural areas often lack access to public transport stops, aggravated by lower service frequencies, leading to high reliance on private cars for essential activities, such as work and education. Despite the good geographical coverage of rail and bus stops, urban and central–urban areas also suffer from inadequate service frequencies, impacting public transport usage. Improving service quality in high-demand areas could encourage greater public transport utilization and enhance accessibility. Identifying areas facing inequities facilitates targeted policy interventions and prioritized investments to improve accessibility and address mobility needs to access services effectively. Soil is the basis of the existence of fruit tree and soil nutrients plays a crucial role in plant growth and berry quality. To investigate the characteristics and interrelationships between soil nutrients and berry quality in Cabernet Gernischet vineyards, this study focused on seven representative vineyards in the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains. Fifteen soil physicochemical factors and 10 berry quality factors were measured, followed by variation analysis, correlation analysis, multiple linear regression (MLR), partial-least squares regression (PLSR), principal component analysis (PCA), and systematic cluster analysis. We identified the main soil nutrient indicators influencing berry quality and developed linear regression equations. Utilizing PCA, a comprehensive evaluation model for berry quality was constructed, which enabled the calculation and ranking of integrated berry quality scores. The results indicated that soil nutrients in the vineyards of the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains are relatively deficient and alkaline. The coefficient of variation for soil nutrient factors ranged from 3.19 to 118.08% and for berry quality factors 2.41-26.37%. Correlation analysis revealed varying degrees of correlation between soil nutrient indicators and fruit quality indicators. PCA extracted four principal components with a cumulative contribution rate of 91.506%. Based on the scores of these components and their corresponding weights, a comprehensive model for evaluating the quality of Cabernet Gernischet berries was established. The vineyards were ranked from the highest to the lowest combined scores as Zhenbeibu (ZBB), Yuquanying (YQY), Dawukou (DWK), Beihaizi (BHZ), Shuxin (SX), Huangyangtan (HYT), and Hongde (HD). These findings provide insights into soil nutrient management and comprehensive quality assessment of vineyards in the eastern foothills of the Helan Mountains. In conclusion, this study offers a theoretical foundation for vineyard managers to enhance grape berries quality through soil nutrient management. This will aid in the diagnosis of vineyard soil nutrition and the efficient use of fertilizers, with critical practical and theoretical implications for the meticulous management of vineyards and the production of high-quality wines. Alfalfa is one of the most important and the most cultivated crop due to its high nutritive quality and yield, but adaptation of alfalfa genotypes differ in terms of mobile aluminium stress in the soil. The aim of this study was to evaluate the tolerance to mobile Al concentrations in the laboratory and in the naturally acidic soil and select the promising genotypes based on agro-biological traits. In 2019, a laboratory experiment was conducted at the Institute of Agriculture of LAMMC. The experiment in the acidic soil with different mobile Al concentrations was conducted at the Vėžaičiai Branch of LAMMC. In 2020, the crops of alfalfa genotypes (11 cultivars and 3 populations) were established on Balthygleyic Dystric Retisol. The agro-biological traits were assessed during the 2021–2022 season. The tolerance index of hypocotyls and roots was evaluated using the filter-based screening method at different AlCl3 (0.0–64 mM) concentrations. The study results of the filter-based screening method showed that the genotype Žydrūnė, Malvina, Jõgeva 118, Skriveru, and 3130 were the most tolerant ones and the hypocotyl tolerance index of these genotypes was higher compared to medium tolerant genotypes Birutė, PGR12489, Europe and AJ2024 at 8, 16, 32 and 64 mM AlCl3 concentrations. The hypocotyl and root tolerance index of medium tolerant genotypes was higher compared to a sensitive genotype PGR10249 at 8 and 16 mM AlCl3. The study of cluster analysis with mobile Al 0.0–65.0 mg kg-1 showed that the genotypes Žydrūnė, Europe, AJ2024 and 3130 were the best in terms of wintering and spring regrowth, the cultivar Malvina had the best value of wintering, height before flowering and stem number, the cultivar Birutė had the best value of spring regrowth, height before flowering and seed yield, and the cultivar Skriveru had the best value of spring regrowth, height before flowering, stem number and seed yield. The biopharmaceutical sector is of considerable interest during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to investigate the biopharmaceutical sector using the Shenwan Industry Classification and provides insights into investment strategies. We combine factor and cluster analyses to reduce data dimensions and detect their latent similarities. Specifically, the biopharmaceutical sector is divided into six categories based on second-level industry classification. It is observed that medical devices, medical services, biological products, and chemical pharmaceuticals maintained their upward tendency, while Chinese medicine and pharmaceutical commerce declined slightly. Objectives: Behçet's syndrome (BS) is a rare disease of unknown etiology, with limited reports especially in pediatric BS. The clinical characteristics and phenotypes of pediatric BS as a highly heterogeneous variable vessel vasculitis were investigated in this study. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted to compare clinical variables and descriptive characteristics of BS by age of onset and gender. Cluster analysis was then performed to identify the phenotypes of pediatric BS. Results: A total of 2082 BS patients were included in this study, 1834 adults and 248 children. Compared with adult-onset BS, pediatric BS had a higher incidence of folliculitis [relative risks (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.3 (1.0–1.5)], uveitis of the left eye [RR and 95% CI 2.3 (1.0–5.0)], intestinal ulcer complications [RR and 95% CI 2.1 (1.1–4.2)], pericarditis [RR and 95% CI 2.5 (1.0–6.2)], and psychiatric disorders [RR and 95% CI 2.8(1.0–7.9)], while the incidence of thrombocytopenia was lower [RR 0.2 (0.1–1.0)]. Among pediatric BS, females had more genital ulcers, while males were more likely to have skin lesions, panuveitis, vascular involvement, venous lesions, cardiac involvement, and aortic aneurysms. Cluster analysis classified pediatric BS into five clusters (C1–C5): C1 (n = 61, 24.6%) showed gastrointestinal (GI) involvement; C2 (n = 44, 17.7%) was the central nervous system (CNS) type where 23 cases overlapped joint involvement; in C3 (n = 35, 14.1%), all patients presented with arthritis or arthralgia; all patients in C4 (n = 29, 11.7%) manifested ocular involvement, with a few patients overlapping with GI involvement or joint damage; C5 (n = 79, 31.9%) was the mucocutaneous type, presenting both oral ulcers, genital ulcers, and skin lesions. Conclusions: The clinical features of pediatric and adult BS differ significantly. Male and female pediatric BS also have a distinct demography. Gypsum ecosystems occur in arid and semi-arid areas, where evaporation is intense and annual precipitation is low and insufficient to leach the gypsum. They host sparse and scattered vegetation, composed of species specialized in this soil type. In Cyprus, gypsophilous vegetation is part of the priority habitat *1520 Iberian gypsum steppes (Gypsophiletalia) characterized by Campanula fastigiata, Gypsophila linearifolia, and Teucrium salaminium. Despite the ecological importance of gypsophilous vegetation, its distribution and ecology in Cyprus is still understudied. This study aimed to provide the first comprehensive account of the gypsum communities, focusing on the distribution of gypsophytes in relation to the substrate and the floristic composition of gypsum soils. Floristic inventory was carried out in 27 sites with gypsum soil. Biophysical information and data about human impact were also recorded. A total of 97 taxa were identified, including three gyspophile species, two gypsoclines, 20 gypsovags, and 72 waifs. A new endemic Rostraria hadjikyriakou was recorded in five locations. The known geographical distribution of gypsophilous vegetation has been updated. For 35% of the sites, gypsophilous vegetation was recorded for the first time while none of the characteristic gypsophilous species was found in the western part of the island. Study on soil classification using piezocone penetration test (CPTU) has accumulated a considerable number of research findings. Inspired by the rapid developments in machine learning, this technique has provided new ideas for the interpretation of CPTU data. However, due to the subjectivity of feature selection and unavoidable noise in the data, soil classification models based on traditional machine learning algorithms have limited performance. Based on a convolutional neural network (CNN), this study proposes an end-to-end intelligent soil classification method that does not require feature engineering and noise reduction processing. Taking the raw CPTU measured data as inputs, the CNN model was trained with the limited data to obtain the corresponding soil types. Before training the model, the four-dimensional cluster soil stratification method was used to achieve accurate positioning of soil layer boundaries and ensure the accuracy of sample labeling. The results show that the CNN model has excellent performance in predicting soil types. It can also achieve high accuracy when complex alternate layers were used as test sets, exhibiting the effectiveness and generalization of the proposed intelligent soil classification method.
