Hunting is one of the main uses associated with land which, in the current context, has a strong economic significance for rural areas. This work generates knowledge that can be useful for designing strategies that favour the economic dynamisation of rural areas, in a context of population loss and scarce economic diversification. In this sense and based on the results of a survey of hunters (N = 1662), the objectives of the work are first to analyse the territorial distribution and abundance of big game species in Spain and secondly, to examine the existence of correlations, between hunters' income, hunters' gender and preferences for certain big game species. This analysis is based on primary and secondary sources and its characteristics are explained in the methodology section. Univariate and bivariate descriptive statistics were used, specifically the chi-square contingency test, which allows us to determine the relationship of dependence between two variables. We found that female hunters showed greater interest than their male counterparts in hunting big game species, and the same interest was found in hunters with higher income level regardless of their gender. The research aims to analyse the effect of Knowledge Management (KM) on Sustainable Performance (SP) in the wine industry context. In particular, the study investigates how SP is influenced by KM through the mediating role of Green Innovation (GI), as well as the moderating role of Collaborative Culture (CC). The research proposes a conceptual model, based on previous studies, which is tested through structural equations (PLS-SEM) with data collected from 202 Spanish wineries. The results of the research indicate that there is a positive relationship between KM and SP, with GI mediating and CC moderating this link. The originality of the research is due to the fact that, firstly, there are no previous studies that have addressed the KM-SP relationship in the wine context and, secondly, there is no previous academic literature that has used the CC variable to moderate the main relationship analysed. Background: the benefits of water are significant during the birth process. Improved maternal experience of labor, less use of epidurals, better pain management, shorter labor, and a greater sense of control are observed during the birth process. Objective: This report aims to determine the benefits of hydrotherapy in clinical childbirth approaches and its applicability in pain control. Methods: A meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials selected from various databases with no publication date limits was conducted, comparing groups that did not use hydrotherapy with groups that did during labor. Results: Seven articles met the inclusion criteria, with five articles using hot water immersion and two using hot water shower as hydrotherapy treatments. This study identified 840 participants, with the intervention groups including 417 term pregnant women and the control groups including 423 pregnant women. The effect size of hydrotherapy on pain was calculated using the visual analog scale in five articles and analgesic use in the other two articles. Hydrotherapy significantly reduced pain during labor with a mean difference of −0.97 (95% CI: −1.91 to −0.03; I2 = 97.32%, p < 0.001). The duration of the first stage of labor was not significantly affected, with a mean difference of −0.17 h (95% CI: −0.55 to 0.21; I2 = 56.75%, p = 0.059). Additionally, hydrotherapy did not significantly impact the newborns' Apgar scores at 5 min, with a mean difference of 0.18 (95% CI: −0.48 to 0.85; I2 = 2.15%, p = 0.939). Conclusions: Hydrotherapy is beneficial for pain control in the first stage of labor and does not increase its duration or negatively affect the Apgar score of newborns. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Our natural environment is suffering the consequences of the current highly dynamic and competitive social and economic conditions that force people and firms to mainly focus on economic outputs rather than in reducing their impact on the environment. In this context, environmentally aware leaders can play a key role in driving the development and implementation of sustainable practices within organizations, as well as the development an adequate organizational culture that promotes the engagement of its members. The objective of this research is to empirically evidence the influence of green transformational leadership on green performance, as well as the mediating role of green organizational culture and green engagement in this relationship. The results provide empirical evidence on the positive influence of green transformational leadership on green performance, as well as about the mediating variables raised, which has interesting practical, political and theoretical implications, related to the strategic management of firms, the promotion of environmental sustainability in corporate governance and industry standards, and the broader understanding of sustainable leadership in the academic sphere. Thus, this study provides a roadmap to embrace a leadership model that prioritizes environmental sustainability, advocating for a collective journey toward a sustainable future where leadership, culture, and commitment coalesce into a formidable force for environmental sustainability. The exploration of the impact of educational reforms on teacher performance is a topic that has gained unusual relevance in recent decades. By analyzing these reforms through the prism of Plithogenic statistics, a window opens to a new approach that allows us to understand the inherent complexity of contemporary educational systems. Plithogenic statistics, which integrate heterogeneous and multivariate data, provide a powerful tool for unraveling how educational policies affect teacher performance. In this study, a multifaceted approach has been employed, ranging from longitudinal data analysis to qualitative evaluation of teacher perceptions, revealing an intricate interconnection between the reforms implemented and the results observed in the classrooms. The conclusions derived from this analysis are revealing and, in a certain sense, paradigmatic. Educational reforms, far from being mere administrative interventions, emerge as agents of dynamic change that influence the motivation, professional development and, ultimately, the performance of teachers. However, this impact is not homogeneous; varies significantly depending on the institutional context and the individual characteristics of educators. Through the application of Plithogenic methods, it has been possible to capture the subtle interaction of these factors, providing a more nuanced and holistic vision of educational reality. This research analyzes how organizational ambidexterity (OA) affects sustainable performance in the Spanish wine industry, as well as the catalytic role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices and knowledge management infrastructure (KMI) on these variables. For this purpose, a theoretical model is elaborated based on the literature review carried out, which is contrasted following a quantitative approach by means of structural equation modeling (PLS‐SEM) with primary data collected from 202 Spanish wineries between September 2021 and January 2022. The research results show that there is a positive and significant relationship between OA and sustainable performance. Likewise, OA partially mediates the CSR‐sustainable performance and KMI‐sustainable performance relationship. Thus, the present research contributes to the literature in several ways. First, to the best of our knowledge, there are no previous studies that have analyzed the effect of OA on sustainable performance in the wine context, which represents an opportunity to advance scientific knowledge. Second, to our knowledge, there is no previous scientific production that has analyzed what may be the triggers of OA. Summary: The genomes of ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungi have a reduced number of genes encoding Carbohydrate‐Active EnZymes (CAZymes), expansions in transposable elements (TEs) and small secreted proteins (SSPs) compared with saprotrophs. Fewer genes for specific peptidases and lipases in ECM fungi are also reported. It is unclear whether these changes occur at the shift to the ECM habit or are more gradual throughout the evolution of ECM lineages.We generated a genomic dataset of 20 species in the ECM lineage Inocybaceae and compared them with six saprotrophic species.Inocybaceae genomes have fewer CAZymes, peptidases, lipases, secondary metabolite clusters and SSPs and higher TE content than their saprotrophic relatives. There was an increase in the rate of gene family evolution along the branch with the transition to the ECM lifestyle. This branch had very high rate of evolution in CAZymes and had the largest number of contractions. Other significant changes along this branch included expansions in transporters, transposons‐related genes and communication genes such as fungal kinases.There is a high concentration of changes in proximity to the transition to the ECM lifestyle, which correspond to the identified key changes for the gain of this lifestyle. Summary: The population has aged; there is a greater risk of osteoporosis and hip fracture. We describe the standards of care for hip fractures in various hospitals of Mexico. A total of 1042 subjects participated. The acute mortality was 4.3%. Significance. Hip fracture registries provide a means to compare care and establish improvement processes. Background: The Mexican population has aged; thus, there is a greater risk of osteoporosis, and its main consequence is hip fracture due to fragility. Its incidence is high, and it is expected to increase due to aging in our country. International guidelines provide standardized recommendations for the care of people with hip fractures, while hip fracture registries provide a means to compare care with local, national, and international clinical standards and establish improvement processes. Objective: Describe the standards of care for hip fractures in various hospital centers of the Mexican Social Security Institute. Methods: This was an observational, multicenter, longitudinal, and descriptive study. It included 24 hospital centers in Mexico. Informed consent was obtained. Data were recorded during the hospital stay, epidemiological data, and management, and follow-up was carried out 30 and 120 days after discharge. The information was analyzed using SPSS version 22.0. Results: A total of 1042 subjects aged 79.5 ± 7.6 years participated, mostly women (n = 739; 70.9%) from the community (n = 1,021; 98.0%) and with functional independence (Barthel 80.9 ± 22.2). The transfer time to the emergency room was 4.6 ± 14.6 days. Pertrochanteric hip fracture was the most common (n = 570, 54.7%). The most common type of procedure was dynamic hip screw (DHS) (n = 399; 40.1%). Documented thromboprophylaxis was granted in 91.5% (n = 953) and antibiotic prophylaxis in 53.0% (n = 552) of the patients. The goal of 36 h for the surgical procedure was achieved in 7.6% of the subjects (n = 76), with the most frequent cause being a delay in scheduling (n = 673, 67.6%). The mean time from emergency room to surgery was 7.8 ± 7.0 days. The acute mortality rate was 4.3%. Secondary pharmacologic prevention upon discharge occurred in 64.2% of patients. At 30 days, 370 subjects (37.1%) were lost to follow-up, with a mortality of 3%, while at 120 days, 166 subjects (27.8%) were lost, with a mortality of 2.8%. Conclusion: In the hospital centers where the study was carried out, there are still no standards of care for hip fractures, which makes it necessary to rethink the care for this population group through a strategy focused on meeting those standards. Background: Prediction of the response to a biological treatment in psoriasis patients would allow efficient treatment allocation. Objective: To identify polymorphisms associated with secukinumab response in psoriasis patients in a daily practice setting. Methods: We studied 180 SNPs in patients with moderate‐to‐severe plaque psoriasis recruited from 15 Spanish hospitals. Treatment effectiveness was evaluated by absolute PASI ≤3 and ≤1 at 6 and 12 months. Individuals were genotyped using a custom Taqman array. Multiple logistic regression models were generated. Sensitivity, specificity and area under the curve (AUC) were analysed. Results: A total of 173 patients were studied at 6 months, (67% achieved absolute PASI ≤ 3 and 65% PASI ≤ 1) and 162 at 12 months (75% achieved absolute PASI ≤ 3 and 64% PASI ≤ 1). Multivariable analysis showed the association of different sets of SNPs with the response to secukinumab. The model of absolute PASI≤3 at 6 months showed best values of sensitivity and specificity. Four SNPs were associated with the capability of achieving absolute PASI ≤ 3 at 6 months. rs1801274 (FCGR2A), rs2431697 (miR‐146a) and rs10484554 (HLCw6) were identified as risk factors for failure to achieve absolute PASI≤3, while rs1051738 (PDE4A) was protective. AUC including these genotypes, weight of patients and history of biological therapy was 0.88 (95% CI 0.83–0.94), with a sensitivity of 48.6% and specificity of 95.7% to discriminate between both phenotypes. Conclusion: We have identified a series of polymorphisms associated with the response to secukinumab capable of predicting the potential response/non‐response to this drug in patients with plaque psoriasis. The objective of this research is to analyze the knowledge structure of the academic literature indexed in the Core Collection of the Web of Science on automation in the wine industry, from the first registered article in 1996 to 2022, in order to identify the latest trends in the study of this subject. A bibliometric and systematic analysis of the literature was carried out. First, for the quantitative analysis of the scientific production, the bibliometric study was conducted, using the WoS database for data collection and the VosViewer and Bibliometrix applications to create the network maps. Second, once the literature had been examined quantitatively, content analysis was undertaken using the PRISMA methodology. The results show, among other aspects, the uneven distribution of the examined scientific production from 1996 to 2022, that computer vision, data aggregation, life cycle assessment, precision viticulture, extreme learning machine and collaborative platforms are the major current keywords and the predominance of Spain and Italy in terms of scientific production in the field. There are various justifications which support the originality of this study. First, it contributes to the understanding of academic literature and the identification of the most recent trends in the study of automation in the wine industry. Second, to the best of our knowledge, no prior bibliometric studies have considered this topic. Klebsiella pneumoniae releases the peptides AKTIKITQTR and FNEMQPIVDRQ, which bind the pneumococcal proteins AmiA and AliA respectively, two substrate-binding proteins of the ABC transporter Ami-AliA/AliB oligopeptide permease. Exposure to these peptides alters pneumococcal phenotypes such as growth. Using a mutant in which a permease domain of the transporter was disrupted, by growth analysis and epifluorescence microscopy, we confirmed peptide uptake via the Ami permease and intracellular location in the pneumococcus. By RNA-sequencing we found that the peptides modulated expression of genes involved in metabolism, as pathways affected were mostly associated with energy or synthesis and transport of amino acids. Both peptides downregulated expression of genes involved in branched-chain amino acid metabolism and the Ami permease; and upregulated fatty acid biosynthesis genes but differed in their regulation of genes involved in purine and pyrimidine biosynthesis. The transcriptomic changes are consistent with growth suppression by peptide treatment. The peptides inhibited growth of pneumococcal isolates of serotypes 3, 8, 9N, 12F and 19A, currently prevalent in Switzerland, and caused no detectable toxic effect to primary human airway epithelial cells. We conclude that pneumococci take up K. pneumoniae peptides from the environment via binding and transport through the Ami permease. Background: The colonization of land and the diversification of terrestrial plants is intimately linked to the evolutionary history of their symbiotic fungal partners. Extant representatives of these fungal lineages include mutualistic plant symbionts, the arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi in Glomeromycota and fine root endophytes in Endogonales (Mucoromycota), as well as fungi with saprotrophic, pathogenic and endophytic lifestyles. These fungal groups separate into three monophyletic lineages but their evolutionary relationships remain enigmatic confounding ancestral reconstructions. Their taxonomic ranks are currently fluid. Results: In this study, we recognize these three monophyletic linages as phyla, and use a balanced taxon sampling and broad taxonomic representation for phylogenomic analysis that rejects a hard polytomy and resolves Glomeromycota as sister to a clade composed of Mucoromycota and Mortierellomycota. Low copy numbers of genes associated with plant cell wall degradation could not be assigned to the transition to a plant symbiotic lifestyle but appears to be an ancestral phylogenetic signal. Both plant symbiotic lineages, Glomeromycota and Endogonales, lack numerous thiamine metabolism genes but the lack of fatty acid synthesis genes is specific to AM fungi. Many genes previously thought to be missing specifically in Glomeromycota are either missing in all analyzed phyla, or in some cases, are actually present in some of the analyzed AM fungal lineages, e.g. the high affinity phosphorus transporter Pho89. Conclusion: Based on a broad taxon sampling of fungal genomes we present a well-supported phylogeny for AM fungi and their sister lineages. We show that among these lineages, two independent evolutionary transitions to mutualistic plant symbiosis happened in a genomic background profoundly different from that known from the emergence of ectomycorrhizal fungi in Dikarya. Background: In today's business environment, where sustainability has emerged as a strategic axis of business practices, the study of the link between human resources management and environmental management becomes increasingly necessary. In this sense, the present research focuses on analyzing the impact of Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) on the Sustainable Performance (SP) of Spanish wineries, as well as the mediating effect of Employee Wellbeing (EW) and Work Engagement (WE) on this linkage. In addition, age, size and membership in a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) are introduced as control variables to increase the precision of the cause-effect relationships examined. Methods: The study proposes a conceptual model based on previous studies, which is tested using structural equations (PLS-SEM) with data collected from 196 Spanish wineries between September 2022 and January 2023. Results: The findings of the research reveal the existence of a positive and significant relationship between the GHRM development and the SP of Spanish wineries, as well as the partial mediation of EW and WE in this association. Conclusions: The uniqueness and significance of this study can be attributed to several crucial factors. First, it enhances the understanding and knowledge regarding the advantages associated with GHRM development. Second, no prior research has conducted a comprehensive study on GHRM as a catalyst for SP within the context of Spanish wineries. Treatment of pneumococcal infections is limited by antibiotic resistance and exacerbation of disease by bacterial lysis releasing pneumolysin toxin and other inflammatory factors. We identified a previously uncharacterized peptide in the Klebsiella pneumoniae secretome, which enters Streptococcus pneumoniae via its AmiA-AliA/AliB permease. Subsequent downregulation of genes for amino acid biosynthesis and peptide uptake was associated with reduction of pneumococcal growth in defined medium and human cerebrospinal fluid, irregular cell shape, decreased chain length and decreased genetic transformation. The bacteriostatic effect was specific to S. pneumoniae and Streptococcus pseudopneumoniae with no effect on Streptococcus mitis, Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus or K. pneumoniae. Peptide sequence and length were crucial to growth suppression. The peptide reduced pneumococcal adherence to primary human airway epithelial cell cultures and colonization of rat nasopharynx, without toxicity. We identified a peptide with potential as a therapeutic for pneumococcal diseases suppressing growth of multiple clinical isolates, including antibiotic resistant strains, while avoiding bacterial lysis and dysbiosis. Wildfires are a common phenomenon in Mediterranean environments. This study seeks to synthesize the main results of existing studies from the last decade on this topic and to highlight the need for managing soil impacted by wildfires in the Mediterranean environment. Researchers have found that the impact of fire during a forest fire on the soil, and the subsequent consequences on soil ecosystem services and functions, is great and produces negative consequences for the soil. The physical, chemical, and biological properties of soil have been extensively analyzed, and a very high number of studies during the last ten years have been performed on different study areas with a common component: the Mediterranean ecosystem. However, the effects of these fires on the multifunctionality of the soil itself, ecosystem services, and soil functionality, which they provide to humans, have not. It is therefore essential to know the impact of fires in a fire-prone ecosystem such as the Mediterranean one on the soil and how these services and functions are affected. In this way, the decision can be taken to carry out restoration measures, especially after very severe forest fires and if the recurrence is high. This conclusion is even more important in the context of global change in which more severe and recurrent fires are expected, and therefore actions to be considered are expected to be more necessary to avoid land degradation, as many of the studies compiled here have shown. We conducted a two-year retrospective evaluation of infants aged under two years with a confirmed, clinical, or suspected diagnosis of scabies in a healthcare center in Alicante (Spain) to determine possible factors associated with diagnostic delay and poor treatment response. We collected epidemiological, clinical, diagnostic, and treatment variables. After describing our findings as mean values and percentages, we compared categorical variables using the Student's t-test and the Mann–Whitney U test, and we compared continuous variables with the Chi2 test and Pearson's correlation coefficient. We included 51 infants (19 boys and 32 girls) with a mean age of 15 months. The main source of contagion was the family; half of the infants lived with four or more people. According to the International Consensus Criteria for the Diagnosis of Scabies, confirmed scabies was diagnosed in 45% of cases and clinical scabies in 47%, and 45% of cases had a diagnostic delay. Lesions mainly affected the hands, feet, and trunk, with papules in 92% of cases and burrows in 55%. The predominant symptoms were pruritus (94%) and irritability (69%). Regarding treatment, 98% of the infants received topical permethrin and 35% received oral ivermectin. Treatment failed in 76% of infants. Living in large family units was associated with a higher risk of contagion and therapeutic failure. Diagnostic delay was associated with previous misdiagnosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Accurate estimation of software effort and time in the software development process is a key activity to achieve the necessary product quality. However, underestimation or overestimation of effort has become a key challenge for software development. One of the main problems is the estimation with metrics from late stages, because the product must already be finished to make estimates. In this paper, the use of statistical models and machine learning approaches for software estimation are used in early stages such as software design, and a data set is presented with metric values of design artifacts with 37 software projects. As results, models for the estimation of development time and effort are proposed and validated through leave-one-out cross-validation. Further, machine learning techniques were employed in order to compare software projects estimations. Through the statistical tests, it was proven that the errors were not statistically different with the regression models for effort estimation. The role of extracellular nucleotides as modulators of inflammation and cell stress is well established. One of the main actions of these molecules is mediated by the activation of purinergic receptors (P2) of the plasma membrane. P2 receptors can be classified according to two different structural families: P2X ionotropic ion channel receptors, and P2Y metabotropic G protein-coupled receptors. During inflammation, damaged cells release nucleotides and purinergic signaling occurs along the temporal pattern of the synthesis of pro-inflammatory and pro-resolving mediators by myeloid and lymphoid cells. In macrophages under pro-inflammatory conditions, the expression and activity of cyclooxygenase 2 significantly increases and enhances the circulating levels of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), which exerts its effects both through specific plasma membrane receptors (EP1-EP4) and by activation of intracellular targets. Here we review the mechanisms involved in the crosstalk between PGE2 and P2Y receptors on macrophages, which is dependent on several isoforms of protein kinase C and protein kinase D1. Due to this crosstalk, a P2Y-dependent increase in calcium is blunted by PGE2 whereas, under these conditions, macrophages exhibit reduced migratory capacity along with enhanced phagocytosis, which contributes to the modulation of the inflammatory response and tissue repair. Introduction: So far, both for the general and older population, research on human values and wellbeing mainly shows correlational associations but does not inquire about the direction of this relationship. This is also true for values and civic participation. Therefore, our objective is to identify the directional association between civic participation and Schwartz values, and between values and wellbeing, among older Europeans. Methods: A pseudo-panel was created from the cross-sectional data of the European Social Survey (ESS 2002-2018), controlling for gender, age-group, country and level of studies (n = 3926). The data analysis was performed using a cross-lagged model, applying both random-effects and fixed-effects models. Results: On the one hand, the relationship between participation and values is bidirectional, but the effect of civic participation on values is more significant since participating stimulates the development of certain values. On the other hand, although the relationship between values and wellbeing is also bidirectional, the effect of wellbeing on values is stronger since a given level of wellbeing favors the development of particular values. Discussion: We conclude that civic participation should be promoted within the older population since it directly increases wellbeing, and moreover reinforces those (Growth-oriented) values that positively influence the health, happiness and life satisfaction of older people. This research examines the influence of adding a commercial ionic liquid to the electrolyte during the electrochemical anodization of tungsten for the fabrication of WO3 nanostructures for photoelectrochemical applications. An aqueous electrolyte composed of 1.5 M methanesulfonic acid and 5% v/v [BMIM][BF4] or [EMIM][BF4] was used. A nanostructure synthesized in an ionic-liquid-free electrolyte was taken as a reference. Morphological and structural studies of the nanostructures were performed via field emission scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction analyses. Electrochemical characterization was carried out using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and a Mott–Schottky analysis. From the results, it is highlighted that, by adding either of the two ionic liquids to the electrolyte, well-defined WO3 nanoplates with improved morphological, structural, and electrochemical properties are obtained compared to samples synthesized without ionic liquid. In order to evaluate their photoelectrocatalytic performance, the samples were used as photocatalysts to generate hydrogen by splitting water molecules and in the photoelectrochemical degradation of methyl red dye. In both applications, the nanostructures synthesized with the addition of either of the ionic liquids showed a better performance. These findings confirm the suitability of ionic liquids, such as [BMIM][BF4] and [EMIM][BF4], for the synthesis of highly efficient photoelectrocatalysts via electrochemical anodization. The process of soil genesis unfolds as pioneering microbial communities colonize mineral substrates, enriching them with biomolecules released from bedrock. The resultant intricate surface units emerge from a complex interplay among microbiota and plant communities. Under these conditions, host rocks undergo initial weathering through microbial activity, rendering them far from pristine and challenging the quest for biomarkers in ancient sedimentary rocks. In addressing this challenge, a comprehensive analysis utilizing Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) was conducted on a 520-Ma-old Cambrian rock. This investigation revealed a diverse molecular assemblage with comprising alkanols, sterols, fatty acids, glycerolipids, wax esters, and nitrogen-bearing compounds. Notably, elevated levels of bacterial C16, C18 and C14 fatty acids, iso and anteiso methyl-branched fatty acids, as well as fungal sterols, long-chained fatty acids, and alcohols, consistently align with a consortium of bacteria and fungi accessing complex organic matter within a soil-type ecosystem. The prominence of bacterial and fungal lipids alongside maturity indicators denotes derivation from heterotrophic activity rather than ancient preservation or marine sources. Moreover, the identification of long-chain (>C22) n-alkanols, even-carbon-numbered long chain (>C20) fatty acids, and campesterol, as well as stigmastanol, provides confirmation of plant residue inputs. Furthermore, findings highlight the ability of contemporary soil microbiota to inhabit rocky substrates actively, requiring strict contamination controls when evaluating ancient molecular biosignatures or extraterrestrial materials collected. Purpose: This research focuses on analyzing the impact of Green Intellectual Capital (GIC) on the Environmental Performance (EP) of Spanish wineries, as well as the mediating effect of Green Ambidexterity Innovation (GAI) on the main relationship posed (GIC–EP), and the moderating effect of Top Management Environmental Awareness (TMEA) on the GAI–EP link. In addition, age, size and size and membership in a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) to increase the accuracy of the cause–effect relationships examined. Design/methodology/approach: The study proposes a conceptual model based on previous studies, which is tested using structural equations (PLS-SEM) with data collected from 196 Spanish wineries between September 2022 and January 2023. Findings: The results of the research reveal the existence of a positive and significant relationship between the development of GIC and EP of Spanish wineries, as well as the partial mediation of GAI in this link and the positive moderation of TMEA in the GAI–EP relationship. Originality/value: The originality of the study is explained by several factors. First, the study pioneered the exploration of TMEA as a moderator of the relationship between GAI and EP, allowing such analysis to improve understanding of the dynamic interaction between innovation and environmental management. Second, to the best of the authors' knowledge, there are no preceding studies that have previously proposed the theoretical model presented in this research, thus providing new scientific knowledge on the intellectual capital field. Third, the contextualization of the study in the wine sector, traditionally perceived as little knowledge-intensive, contributes significantly to the existing body of scientific knowledge on the environmental management of wineries, given that it allows the identification of the catalysing variables of EP in the Spanish wine context. Voting for Populist Radical Parties (PRPs) in Europe has been a frequent subject of study in recent decades. However, little research has analysed the common factors between ideologically opposed PRPs. In this article we fill this gap in the literature from an ecological perspective at the municipal level. Using the cases of Podemos and Vox in Spain, we analyse whether the same characteristics at the municipal level explain the electoral performance of both parties. To address this question we use the results of the four general elections in which both parties have run. The results confirm an archetype of municipal-level characteristics that explain the success of both PRPs in Spain. These parties had more support in (sub-)urban contexts; with high levels of political disaffection and high incomes. The intensive variables, geochemical, mineralogical, and petrogenetic constraints of the Iberian peraluminous rare metal granites (RMGs), many of them unknown, are presented. The mineral chemistry of ore and gangue minerals, whole rock analyses, geothermobarometry, melt water and phosphorus contents, mass balance, and Rayleigh modeling were performed to achieve these objectives. These procedures allow us to distinguish two main contrasting granitic types: Nb-Ta-rich and Nb-Ta-poor granites. The former have lower crystallization temperatures, higher water contents, and lower emplacement pressures than Nb-Ta-poor granites. Nb-Ta-rich granites also have higher fluoride contents, strong fractionation into geochemical twins, higher Na contents, and different evolutionary trends. At the deposit scale, the fractional crystallization of micas properly explains the variation in the Ta/Nb ratio in both Nb-Ta-poor and Nb-Ta-rich RMGs, although in higher-grade granites, the variation is not as clear due to the action of fluids. Fluid phase separation processes especially occurred in the Nb-Ta rich granites, thus transporting halogens and metals that increased the grades in the top and sometimes in the core of granites. Gas-driven filter pressing processes facilitated the migration of fluid and melt near solidus melt in Nb-Ta-rich granites. The geochemical signature of the Iberian rare metal granites mainly follows the trends of two-mica granites and P-rich cordierite granites, but also of granodiorites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: Patients requiring colorectal surgery in the context of an incisional hernia are common, but it is not clear whether the repair should be performed as a single or two-step surgery. Our aim was to evaluate complications after concomitant abdominal wall repair and colorectal surgery compared to those after incisional hernia repair alone. Methods: Adult patients who underwent elective incisional hernia surgery from 2012–2022 from the EVEREG registry were included. Patients who underwent midline incisional hernia repair as a single procedure and patients who underwent midline incisional hernia repair concomitant with colorectal surgery were included. The primary outcome was surgical site infection (SSI). The secondary outcomes were the Clavien–Dindo classification grade, in-hospital mortality and recurrence. Results: A total of 7783 patients were included: 256(3.3%) who underwent concomitant surgery and 7527(96.7%) who underwent only midline incisional hernia repair. The first group included more comorbid patients and complex hernias. SSI was found in 55.4% of patients who underwent simultaneous surgery compared to 30.7% of patients who underwent hernia repair alone (P = 0.000). Multivariate analysis revealed that the risk factors for SSI were BMI (OR = 1.07, 95% CI 1.02–1.11; P = 0.004), smoking (OR = 1.89, 95% CI 1.12–3.19; P = 0.017), transverse diameter (OR = 1.06, 95% CI 1.01–1.11; P = 0.017), component separation (OR = 1.996, 95% CI 1.25–3.08; P = 0.037) and clean-contaminated and contaminated surgeries(OR = 3.86, 95% CI 1.36–10.66; P = 0.009). Higher grades of Clavien–Dindo (P = 0.001) and mortality rates (P < 0.001) were found in the colorectal surgery group, although specific risk factors were detected. No differences were observed in terms of recurrence (P = 0.104). Conclusions: Concomitant surgery is related to greater risk of complications, especially in patients with comorbidities and complex hernias. Equine-assisted intervention therapy has a nearly 60-year history and has been shown to have a significant positive impact on various types of psychotherapy patients. Due to an increase in research on EAT, the number of existing methods of equine-assisted intervention therapy has gradually increased. Based on existing literature on the application of equine-assisted intervention therapy on veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), this study examines the characteristics of several types of equine interventions and includes a systematic review of peer-reviewed literature on equine-assisted interventions for veterans with PTSD published over the past 5 years, from 2018 to the present. Ten articles met the review criteria and served as the primary data for analysis. Several types of equine-assisted interventions were shown to have a beneficial psychological impact on veterans. However, some limitations were also found in the studies, such as that the majority of experiments were constrained by small sample sizes. Equine-assisted intervention therapy has been shown to be effective, but further research is merited, in order to focus on the specific details and theories involved in equine-assisted interventions, and on the welfare of the horses involved in the therapy. This work aimed to investigate the kinetics, yield, size and composition changes in lactose crystals when Panela cheese whey was acidified (pH 3.80) or slightly alkalinised (pH 6.89) before being subjected to spontaneous or stirring‐induced crystallisation. At pH 3.8, the crystallisation was accelerated, and the incorporation of salts and proteins in lactose crystals decreased. Nevertheless, these conditions induced the formation of amorphous lactose. In contrast, at pH 6.89 and under stirring conditions, the amorphous lactose was not formed and gave a high crystallisation yield (∼25 g of lactose per Kg of whey) with ∼80% of lactose recovery. The software testing phase usually consumes a lot of the development of software projects time in order to find defects before release. Different strategies have been approached to optimize this phase of the testing stage. Metaheuristics are important in software testing due to their ability to find optimal or near-optimal solutions in complex situations. This research aims to analyze the current status of the application of metaheuristics that assist in software testing phase activities, specifically the most representative Non-bio-inspired algorithms (NBA) are surveyed, being Hill Climbing the most reported. The main activities of the software testing where NBA were implemented, were test case and test data generation and test case prioritization. It was concluded that NBAs used on their own are only viable in some activities of the software testing phase. The communicative effects of disintermediation caused by social media promote the expansion of personalist and emotional political discourses that reach the audience directly and evade the traditional journalistic filter. This phenomenon leads to new political communication tactics, but also exposes citizens to potentially fraudulent, contaminated or polarised content. In this context, framed in post-truth, the term 'fake news' gains relevance as a way of referring to disinformation and as a political and performative argument that can be weaponised. This research aims to analyse such use in the discourse of the former president Donald Trump during his presidential term (2017-2021), focussing on Twitter as the main platform in his political communication strategy online. To analyse this, we resort to a methodological triangulation of content, discourse, and sentiment analysis, with the latter combining both lexicon and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques through machine learning on the basis of deep learning and natural language processing, which is applied to his messages published with the term 'fake news' (N = 768). The analysis of the sample, provided here in an open dataset, employs self-developed software that allows each unit of analysis to be filtered and coded around its predominant themes, sentiments, and words. The main results confirm that Trump's attribution of 'fake news' focusses on three main topics: the media (53%), politics (40%) and his cabinet (33%). It also shows how the former president resorts to a personalist agenda, focussed on the defence of his proposals and his team (80%) by delegitimizing his opponents and the press, with a negative tone (72%) loaded with derogatory terms, confirming a weaponised strategy of the term 'fake news' as a political argument of disinformation and disintermediation. COVID-19 has been contained; however, the side effects associated with its infection continue to be a challenge for public health, particularly for older adults. On the other hand, epigenetic status contributes to the inter-individual health status and is associated with COVID-19 severity. Nevertheless, current studies focus only on severe COVID-19. Considering that most of the worldwide population developed mild COVID-19 infection. In the present exploratory study, we aim to analyze the association of mild COVID-19 with epigenetic ages (HorvathAge, HannumAge, GrimAge, PhenoAge, SkinAge, and DNAmTL) and clinical variables obtained from a Mexican cohort of older adults. We found that all epigenetic ages significantly differ from the chronological age, but only GrimAge is elevated. Additionally, both the intrinsic epigenetic age acceleration (IEAA) and the extrinsic epigenetic age acceleration (EEAA) are accelerated in all patients. Moreover, we found that immunological estimators and DNA damage were associated with PhenoAge, SkinBloodHorvathAge, and HorvathAge, suggesting that the effects of mild COVID-19 on the epigenetic clocks are mainly associated with inflammation and immunology changes. In conclusion, our results show that the effects of mild COVID-19 on the epigenetic clock are mainly associated with the immune system and an increase in GrimAge, IEAA, and EEAA. Objective: Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) has been used as a therapeutic option for plantar fasciitis. The objective was to investigate the effect of ESWT over the plantar fascia thickness. Methods: MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, and SCOPUS databases were searched for randomized controlled trials evaluating the effect of ESWT in patients with plantar fasciitis, comparing ESWT with another treatment. Meta-analysis was conducted using a random-effects model and the generic inverse variance method. Meta-regression and subgroup analyses were also carried out. Results: A total of 14 studies (867 participants) were included. ESWT significantly decreased plantar fascia thickness (weighted mean difference [WMD], −0.21 mm [95% CI −0.39, −0.02]; p = 0.03). No significant improvement in pain was observed (WMD, −0.51 cm [95% CI −1.04, 0.01]; p = 0.06) compared with non-surgical interventions. Conclusions: Our results suggest that plantar fascia thickness is significantly decreased after ESWT intervention in patients with plantar fasciitis. Purpose: This study aims to explore customer perceived value (CPV) dimensions in the context of free mobile educational applications (EduApps) which are paramount in learning-based digital start-ups and are essential for the implementation of circular economy (CE). The purpose of the present study is to identify dimensions of CPV specifically for EduApps and propose a conceptual model that would assist the digital start-up decisions which in turn can be a catalyst in navigating to a CE. Design/methodology/approach: The study uses the Netnography approach by analyzing online user-generated content. A total of 13,147 reviews posted on the Google play store after using top free education apps were coded using ATLAS.ti 9 software. Findings: Major dimensions of context-specific CPV are identified as technical value, content value, pedagogical value, gamification value and learning value. Subdimensions and items are extracted for each of these dimensions. Practical implications: The larger subscriber base drives sponsorships, advertisements and donations which underpin the business model of free EduApps. This can be obtained through an attractive value proposition. Identifying context-specific value dimensions would aid entrepreneurs in optimal value mix development decisions. The proposed framework can be utilized by both researchers (for scale creation, comparative studies and quantitative studies) and practitioners (for entrepreneurial decisions on better value propositions). Originality/value: CPV successfully describes consumer decision-making, but less attention is paid to linking the theory to the setting of mobile learning apps, where the bulk of research is focused on techniques like TAM, UTAUT, etc. In addition, studies identifying CPV from mobile apps with a specific focus on EduApps are sparse. Extant literature in this context is either based on a foundation of in-store business value dimensions or dominated by technical aspects when focused on the context of mobile apps. Huanglongbing, also known as citrus greening, is currently the most devastating citrus disease with limited success in prevention and mitigation. A promising strategy for Huanglongbing control is the use of antimicrobials fused to a carrier protein (phloem protein of 16 kDa or PP16) that targets vascular tissues. This study investigated the effects of genetically modified citrus trees expressing Citrus sinensis PP16 (CsPP16) fused to human lysozyme and β-defensin-2 on the soil microbiome diversity using 16S amplicon analysis. The results indicated that there were no significant alterations in alpha diversity, beta diversity, phylogenetic diversity, differential abundance, or functional prediction between the antimicrobial phloem-overexpressing plants and the control group, suggesting minimal impact on microbial community structure. However, microbiota diversity analysis revealed distinct bacterial assemblages between the rhizosphere soil and root environments. This study helps to understand the ecological implications of crops expressing phloem-targeted antimicrobials for vascular disease management, with minimal impact on soil microbiota. The aim of this work was to examine the profile and treatment outcomes of patients with dual pathology depending on whether the patients were attending addiction centers or are being treated in a coordinated model by mental health services. Data from 7225 dual diagnosis patients were used, of whom 2417 (33.5%) received treatment in the mental health coordinated modality. Clinical information was taken from the patients' electronic health record. Differences were found in patients' sociodemographic and comorbidity profiles according to treatment modality. In general, coordinated care yielded favorable outcomes (higher attendance and lower dropout rates but no differences in retention). The logistic regression analysis identified predictors of patient profiles in coordinated care, emphasizing having a severe mental health disorder (OR = 3.878, 95% CI [3.443, 4.368]; p =.000), being referred by social/health services, or having retired status. Main differences were observed according to the comorbid diagnosis presented, particularly in cases in which the patient had impulse control, hyperkinetic, or cluster C personality disorder. While therapeutic outcomes are influenced by associated comorbidities, the disorders prognosis can be favorable with appropriate treatment. Furthermore, analysis of differences according to treatment modality allows for predicting the type of patient who will receive a particular service, which enables the development of tailored treatments. Corticosteroid injections have been typically used for the management of plantar fasciitis with apparently good clinical outcomes; however, there is no information of the effect of corticosteroids on the thickness of the plantar fascia which is typically altered in this pathology. We aimed determine whether treatment with corticosteroid injections induces plantar fascia thickness changes in plantar fasciitis MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus databases were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCT) reporting the use of corticosteroid injection to treat plantar fasciitis to July 2022. Studies must have reported plantar fascia thickness measurement. The risk of bias in all studies was assessed with the Cochrane Risk of Bias 2.0 tool. Meta-analysis was conducted using a random-effects model and the generic inverse variance method. Data from 17 RCT (including 1109 subjects) were collected. The follow-up period ranged from one to six months. Most studies measured the thickness of the plantar fascia at the insertion into the calcaneus using ultrasound. Pooled analysis revealed that corticosteroid injections had no significant effect on plantar fascia thickness (weighted mean differences [WMD], 0.06 mm [95% CI: −0.17, 0.29]; p = 0.61) or pain relief (WMD, 0.12 cm [95% CI: −0.36, 0.61]; p = 0.62) above active controls. Corticosteroid injections do not perform better than other common interventions in terms of a decrease of plantar fascia thickness and pain relief for plantar fasciitis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The objective of this research is to analyze the knowledge structure of the academic literature indexed in the Core Collection of the Web of Science (WoS) on gaining a competitive advantage through sustainability in the wine industry, from the first article registered in 2009 to 2023, in order to identify the latest trends in the topics under study. For this purpose, a bibliometric and systematic analysis of the literature was carried out. First, for the quantitative analysis of the scientific production, the bibliometric study was conducted, using the WoS database for data collection and the VosViewer and Bibliometrix applications to create the network maps. Second, once the bibliography had been examined quantitatively, the content analysis was performed following the PRISMA methodology. The results show, among other aspects, the uneven pace of growth of the scientific production studied since 2009, that innovation, wine tourism, carbon footprint, dynamic capabilities and climate change are among the current major topics of study, as well as the predominance of Italy, Spain, the United States and Australia in terms of scientific production in the subject matter. There are several justifications for the originality of this study, given that, first, it contributes to the understanding of the academic literature and the identification of the most recent trends in the field and, second, to the best of the authors' knowledge, there are no previous bibliometric studies that have addressed the topic analyzed. Point-contact p-type high-purity germanium detectors (PPC HPGe) are particularly suited for detection of sub-keV nuclear recoils from coherent elastic scattering of neutrinos or light dark matter particles. While these particles are expected to interact homogeneously in the entire detector volume, specific classes of external background radiation preferably deposit their energy close to the semi-active detector surface, in which diffusion processes dominate that subsequently lead to slower rising pulses compared to the ones from the fully active bulk volume. Dedicated studies of their shape are therefore highly beneficial for the understanding and the rejection of these unwanted events. This article reports about the development of a data-driven pulse shape discrimination (PSD) method for the four 1 kg size PPC HPGe detectors of the Conus experiment in the keV and sub-keV regime down to 210 eV ee. The impact of the electronic noise at such low energies is carefully examined. It is shown that for an acceptance of 90% of the faster signal-like pulses from the bulk volume, approx. 50% of the surface events can be rejected at the energy threshold and that their contribution is fully suppressed above 800 eV ee. Applied to the Conus background data, such a PSD rejection cut allows to achieve an overall (15 - 25) % reduction of the total background budget. The new method allows to improve the sensitivity of future Conus analyses and to refine the corresponding background model in the sub-keV energy region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Multidisciplinary strategies have transformed the management of advanced ovarian cancer. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of paclitaxel in hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) following surgical cytoreduction for ovarian peritoneal metastases in a randomized phase III trial conducted between August 2012 and December 2019. Seventy-six patients were randomized to either the HIPEC or no HIPEC group. Although median values for the primary endpoints (recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS)) revealed superior outcomes for the HIPEC (RFS: 23 months, OS: 48 months) over the control group (RFS: 19 months, OS: 46 months), these differences were not statistically significant (p = 0.22 and p = 0.579). Notably, the HIPEC group demonstrated significantly higher 5-year OS and 3-year RFS rates (47.2% and 47.5%) compared to patients without HIPEC (34.5% and 21.3%). Stratification according to Peritoneal Surface Disease Severity Score (PSDSS) showed improved OS and RFS for patients with lower PSDSS (I–II) in the HIPEC-treated group (p = 0.033 and p = 0.042, respectively). The Clavien–Dindo classification of adverse event grades revealed no significant differences between HIPEC and controls (p = 0.482). While overall results were not statistically significant, our long-term follow-up emphasized the potential benefit of HIPEC-associated cytoreduction with paclitaxel, particularly in selected ovarian cancer patients with lower PSDSS indices. Purpose: The research aims to analyze the effect of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on sustainable performance (SP), as well as the mediating effect of organizational commitment (OC) and consumer satisfaction (CS) on this link. In addition, the variables age, size and membership of a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) are included as control variables to increase the precision of the cause–effect relationships under study. Design/methodology/approach: A theoretical model is formulated to achieve the proposed research objectives, which is then tested by structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) on the basis of primary data obtained from a survey of 196 Spanish wineries between September 2022 and January 2023. Findings: The findings of the research show that CSR has a positive and significant effect on the SP of wineries, demonstrating also the mediating effect of OC and CS in this link. Originality/value: There are several reasons that justify the originality of this study. First, the present research advances the knowledge and understanding of the meaning of the CSR–SP relationship of wineries. Secondly, to our knowledge, there are no previous studies that have analyzed OC and CS as measurement variables in the CSR–SP link in the wine context, so the study provides new scientific knowledge. Background: Although there is scientific evidence regarding the use of water immersion during labor, this evidence is primarily focused on the first stage of labor. There is limited scientific evidence on water immersion during the second stage of labor. Objective: The objective of this study was to conduct a comprehensive systematic review and synthesis of contemporary evidence related to water birth, with a specific focus on the second stage of labor. Methods: A systematic review of the scientific literature published between January 2018 and October 2023 was carried out. A synthesis of the results was conducted following the Synthesis without Meta-Analysis (SWiM) guidelines. PubMed, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library were utilized as information sources. The search strategy was designed using the keywords "immersion" and "parturition", along with their relevant synonyms. Inclusion criteria encompassed studies employing randomized controlled trials (RCTs), systematic reviews, and quantitative and qualitative approaches focusing on pregnant women undergoing water immersion at any stage of the labor process. Results: Eleven articles were selected: two systematic reviews (one quantitative and one qualitative), five cohort studies, one case–control study, one cross-sectional observational study, and two qualitative studies. A thorough assessment of the methodology was performed using several specific tools: the Cochrane RoB 2 (Risk of Bias 2) tool for systematic reviews, JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist for Qualitative Research for qualitative studies, STROBE for observational descriptive studies, and CASPe for qualitative studies. The results provided fundamental insights that will contribute to conceptual standardization regarding the effects of water birth on maternal and fetal health. Additionally, a synthesis of the results was performed concerning types of delivery, analgesia use, pain perception, and maternal satisfaction with the water birth experience. Conclusions: In this study, we conclude that the results regarding delivery types, labor durations, and analgesia use found in the literature, along with statistically significant maternal/fetal effects, are crucial for making recommendations regarding the use of water during labor in any of its stages if the woman desires it safely.
