The article discusses how the opening of new kraft mills in Southern U.S. is contributing to the decline in demand for waste paper. Kraft mills produce cheap pine pulp which is used for box board. Because pipe pulp competes with waste paper, dealers who collect and sell waste paper are now concerned on how their business will be affected. Aside from competition with kraft mills, waste paper dealers are also facing a tough time as the demand for containers decreases due to the recession.
