Amidst escalating global concerns over climate change and the pressing need for sustainable development, this study conducts a comparative analysis across 24 nations that have successfully achieved carbon peaking, evaluating their socioeconomic characteristics and carbon reduction strategies. Simultaneously, it examines China's policy evolution and strategic responses within the context of its economic and urban development. The analysis reveals that countries with successful carbon peak outcomes typically exhibit high GDP per capita and advanced urbanization rates. Critical to their success are comprehensive adjustments in energy consumption structures and industrial transformation, which are supported by robust environmental policies and technological innovation. The study categorizes global carbon reduction policies into three primary categories and seven sub-categories, reflecting the dynamic evolution of policy approaches driven by global climate agendas and varying stages of national development. Strategies including legal frameworks, carbon pricing mechanisms, international cooperation, and technological innovation are critically assessed for their potential to refine China's carbon policies. Significant challenges in policy implementation are identified, particularly in aligning ambitious environmental strategies with economic objectives and managing transition costs in critical sectors such as energy and transportation. The study emphasizes the necessity of a phased policy implementation approach, which begins with enhancing public and corporate environmental awareness, advances through the promotion of low-carbon technologies, and concludes with the establishment of stringent legal and regulatory frameworks. This study mainly investigates the relationship between class environment and attitudes towards inclusive education (IE) in China, with consideration of the impact of relevant background factors including grade, experiences of disability, academic level, area (rural vs. urban), family socio-economic status (SES), being a student leader and gender. A sample of primary school students (N = 1158) was recruited to complete a questionnaire with four scales to respectively measure students' perceptions of attitude towards inclusive education, their class environments, academic achievement level, and family SES, with a set of single-measure questions regarding other background variables. Results revealed that students who perceived class environments with better student-student relationships, better teacher-student relationships, and better discipline and order had more positive attitudes towards IE. The association between the other two class environment variables (competition and learning burden) and attitude towards IE were not significant. Students who self-reported as having disabilities held more positive attitudes towards IE than their peers. Among the background factors examined in this study, only the effect of gender on students' attitudes towards IE is significant. Pine wilt disease (PWD), caused by pine wood nematodes, has brought a great loss in ecology and economy all over the world. In China, the forest health status is also significantly affected by PWD since 1980, especially in coniferous forests and mixed forest regions. The PWD spreads very fast and can cause a healthy pine wood tree to die within a very short time. An effective way to protect other healthy pine wood trees is to discover PWD trees early. Using unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) images can help people discover the PWD tree quickly and accurately, and a few automatical methods have been developed to monitor PWD trees including the deep learning methods. Because of the robust spatial-temporal transferability, deep learning methods have become the mainstream algorithms to monitor PWD trees. As we know, the training dataset is the most important material to train a deep learning model. However, there is still a lack of a PWD segmentation dataset so far. To fill this gap, in this paper, we have generated the first open-sourced PWD segmentation dataset based on very high-resolution UAV images to help the community conduct PWD monitor research conveniently. This dataset has 994 training samples, and each sample has visible bands with 512 × 512 pixels, and the spatial resolution of this dataset is 0.05 m. In order to train an advanced segmentation model, we have designed a lightweight deep-learning model for mobile devices or edge devices in this manuscript, named MobileSeg. The main feature of MobileSeg is its decoupling, which uses the re-parameterization technology to improve the model performance. Finally, a large-scale real-world scenario experiment with very high-resolution UAV images was utilized to validate the performance of MobileSeg, the experiment result indicated that MobileSeg has achieved the best performance compared with the recent lightweight segmentation models, and the experiment also proved the effectiveness of the proposed PWD dataset. The Chinese government initiated a pilot program to implement supported employment for people with disabilities in 2014. Since then, policies have been enacted to promote supported employment. This study explored how practitioners understand and implement supported employment for people with disabilities in China. It was found that non-governmental service organizations have mainly implemented supported employment with financial support provided by local disabled persons' federations; without a governmental guide, the small-scale folk practice presented many difficulties and unstable factors. Results indicated that the Chinese government should actively establish and improve the supported employment system and further expand supported employment practices at the governmental level. This paper addresses one of the key challenges in the China Railway Express (CR Express) service industry, which is the asymmetry of information between the government and a CR Express operator. We formulate the CR Express service delivery problem with asymmetric information and other unique characteristics as the incentive compensation problem via the principal-agent approach. This is the first paper to develop an incentive-compatible (IC) compensation mechanism to improve CR Express service in the presence of adverse selection and moral hazard. Compared to the generic form of compensation, this paper proves that such an IC scheme with a linear compensation contract is optimal. Our optimal compensation mechanism provides a "positive incentive", where the monetary compensation is higher for the CR Express operator with lower operating costs, as opposed to the current compensation policy, which can create a "negative incentive". We find both underestimation and underinvestment problems, which become smaller when the CR Express operator's gross margin is relatively high. When the CR Express service level is discrete-valued, it is optimal to adopt a fixed compensation scheme. Finally, in the scenario with multiple CR Express operators, we propose a generalized Vickrey (GV) auction, which implicitly obtains both true gross margin and service level. The compensation offered by the government is indeed negative in the case of GV auction. Two isostructural lanthanide complexes were synthesized by solvent evaporation with 3-dimethylaminobenzoic acid and 5,5′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine as ligands. The general formula of the structure is a [Ln(3-N,N-DMBA)3(5,5′-DM-2,2′-bipy)]2·2(3-N,N-DMHBA), Ln = (Gd(1), Tb(2)), 3-N,N-DMBA = 3-Dimethylamino benzoate, 5,5′-DM-2,2′-bipy = 5,5′-dimethyl-2,2′ bipyridine. Both complexes exhibited dimeric structures based on X-ray diffraction analysis. At the same time, infrared spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy were used to measure the spectra of the complex. A thermogravimetric infrared spectroscopy experiment was performed to investigate the thermal stability and decomposition mechanism of the complexes. Measurements of the low-temperature heat capacity of the complexes were obtained within the temperature range of 1.9 to 300 K. The thermodynamic function was calculated by heat capacity fitting. In addition, the fluorescence spectra of complex 2 were studied and the fluorescence lifetime values were determined, and the energy transfer mechanism of complex 2 was elucidated. The present study compares the pharmacokinetics of amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium suspension (200 mg/28.5 mg) during fasting and postprandial conditions, and the sample adds a stabilizer study. Two randomized, crossover trials were conducted in an open‐label, single‐center study (a fasting trial and a postprandial trial). In each part of the study, the subjects were randomly assigned to receive either test or reference products (200 mg/28.5 mg) in a 1:1:1 ratio, followed by the alternative products after a 7‐day washout period. Plasma amoxicillin and clavulanic acid concentrations were analyzed by liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry. WinNonlin software was used to evaluate the pharmacokinetic parameters (noncompartmental model). The formulations were considered bioequivalent if the geometric means of area under the plasma concentration–time curve (AUC) and maximum plasma concentration (Cmax) of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid were within the predetermined bioequivalence range established by average bioequivalence (ABE) or reference‐scaled ABE. Tolerability was assessed throughout the study. The postprandial trial and the fasting study each had 12 volunteers. Under fasting and postprandial conditions, the 90%CI for the ratio of geometric means of amoxicillin of Cmax, AUC from time 0 to the last measurable concentration, and AUC from time 0 to infinity were within the ABE acceptance limits (80%‐125%); the geometric means of clavulanic acid of Cmax (critbound, –0.03; point estimate, 1.07) were within the reference‐scaled ABE acceptance limits, and the AUC from time 0 to the last measurable concentration and AUC from time 0 to infinity were within the ABE acceptance limits (80%–125%). Time to maximum concentration of amoxicillin was delayed 1.0 hour with high‐fat meals compared to fasting conditions. Meantime, high‐fat meals decreased the exposure of clavulanic acid by nearly 40%. No serious adverse events were found among the subjects. This paper explores how mainstream teachers, in mainland China with experience of inclusive education, perceive individual differences (ID) among students in general education classrooms. The study adopted a qualitative research approach and employed purposeful sampling and semi-structured interviews. It was found that the mainstream teachers tended to conceptualise ID among students in accordance with five categories: perceived student ability; perceived student behaviour and motivation; perceived students' personal attributes; perceived family factors and observed learning outcomes. Revealing the structure–property relationships is crucial for promoting the development of photochromic materials and achieving the desired function in practical applications. Herein, a series of triphenylethylene photochromic materials (TP, TP-F, TP-Cl and TP-Br) have been synthesized and their photochromic properties were investigated. Monohalogenated TP-F, TP-Cl and TP-Br display obvious photochromic behaviors in solution, the solid state and polymer film. It is found that the halogen atoms with weak electron withdrawing ability can dramatically enhance the photocolorabilities of triphenylethylene. Moreover, TP-Cl and TP-Br exhibit different fatigue processes from TP-F. The further characterization reveals that the key factor leading to the diverse photochromic properties is cis/trans isomerization of triphenylethylene. The coloration of triphenylethylene mainly comes from the photo-triggered cyclization of cis-isomers. The initial attenuation of TP-Cl and TP-Br under UV irradiation is mostly caused by cis–trans photoisomerization, rather than the oxygen-involved photooxidation reactions. Based on the controllable "turn-on" and "turn-off" photobehaviors, TP-Cl and TP-Br were applied in the photoswitchable patterns, showing an enhanced signal-to-background ratio. • Pathogen characteristics in sewage, sludge, and air during rural sewage treatment process. • Rural WWTFs cut down on the genera and concentration of pathogens. • Effluent caused higher pathogen concentrations in downstream river than in upstream river. • Pathogens in aerosol and sludge were mainly from sewage and biological units, respectively. • Aerobic unit aerosols and effluent of rural WWTFs increased the microbial exposure risks. Pathogenic microorganisms can cause infection, sepsis, and other diseases in humans. Although municipal wastewater plants are important sources and sinks for potential pathogenic microorganisms, data on rural wastewater treatment processes are limited. The proximity of rural wastewater facilities to human settlements and the trend toward wastewater resourcing could pose risks to humans. Here, a typical village in southern China was selected to analyze potential pathogenic microorganisms in wastewater, sewage sludge, and aerosols during the collection, treatment, and discharge of domestic wastewater. The succession characteristics and concentration variations of potential pathogenic microorganisms throughout the wastewater treatment process were identified using high-throughput sequencing and culture methods. Bacteria-associated health risks in facility aerosols were estimated based on average daily dose rates from inhalation and dermal exposure. Lower amounts of pathogenic bacteria and pathogenic fungi were detected in the effluent of the 1-ton treatment scale and the 10-ton treatment scale facilities, compared to those in the influent. Pathogen effluent concentrations were significantly lower than influent concentrations after treatment in rural wastewater facilities. 16 and 29 potential pathogenic bacteria and fungi were detected in aerosols from wastewater treatment facilities, respectively. Furthermore, the potential pathogen concentrations were higher than those in the background air. Aerobic units are the main source of pathogen emissions from aerosols. There were 42 potential pathogenic bacteria and 34 potential pathogenic fungi in the sewage sludge. Biochemical units were the main source of potential pathogens in sewage sludge, and more potential airborne pathogens originated from wastewater. In rural wastewater resourcing processes with greater pollutant exposure, the effluent of rural wastewater treatment facilities (WWTFs), downstream rivers, and facility aerosols, could be important potential sources of microbial risk. Building blocks with multiple components are promising for the synthesis of complex molecular assemblies, but are rarely available. Herein, we report a modification procedure for a multi‐component building block [Ln3Ti(HSA)6(SA)4(H2O)]− ({Ln3Ti‐SA}, H2SA=salicylic acid, Ln=Eu/Gd) to form new building blocks {Ln3Tix‐MSA} (H2MSA=5‐methoxysalicylic acid, x=1, 2, 3) by constructing [Ti(MSA)3]2− units. Industrial parks are regarded as a possible fashion to reduce the manufacturing costs and increase the efficiency by sharing cost-effective infrastructure and communal services. However, the waste of manufacturing resources could impede the development of manufacturing enterprises that locate in an industrial park when market demands fluctuate dynamically. This article aims to use the cloud manufacturing (CMfg) to relieve the temporary shortage of manufacturing resources and capabilities by sharing them among these enterprises in an industrial park. This article focuses on manufacturing cloud service allocation (MCSA), which is one of the critical processes to implement CMfg. Two multiunit double auction mechanisms are proposed to allocate the manufacturing cloud services (MCSs) with reasonable trade price in bilateral markets, and their properties and bidding strategies are proved. Numerical studies are conducted, and the results show the effectiveness and efficiency of two mechanisms for dealing with MCSA and verify the theoretical proofs. Note to Practitioners—MCSA in CMfg is a complicated and challenging task. The current industrial applications rely on optimization methods, such as all-in-one methods (e.g., genetic algorithm) and multidiscipline design optimization methods (e.g., analytical target cascading), to allocate MCSs. While these methods can help cloud operators obtain feasible allocation solutions rapidly, there exist several disadvantages: 1) they can only solve problems in one-sided settings (one customer with many providers); 2) there is an assumption that the customer’s demand can be provided by any providers, which means providers’ capacities are infinite; and 3) the problem is optimized based on the fixed prices provided by providers, without considering supply and demand. This article presents two multiunit double auction mechanisms that allow multiple customers to trade with multiple providers. Allocation rules can break the assumption and providers’ capacities are limited. MCSs are also priced dynamically based on supply and demand. We show how cloud operators apply two mechanisms first and demonstrate their properties and bidding strategies of customers and providers when the mechanism is not incentive compatible. Finally, our experiments and analysis fully validate the applicability and efficiency of two mechanisms and illustrate how cloud operators can maximize their utilities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: The United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities identified the Chinese blind massage policy as "reserved employment" in its Concluding Observations in 2012. In response, this paper reviewed the policy on blind massage in China and discussed its effectiveness and social impact. Methods: Adopting a historical perspective, this paper describes the development stages of the blind massage policy in China. It reveals the social construction process of the blind massage policy. Government data were provided to help analyze the positive and negative effects of the policy according to the United Nations' Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Results: The blind massage policy is a national strategy involving semi-reserved employment to improve the low employment rate of people with visual impairments in China. It promoted employment of people with visual impairments at the start, but, as the system of the blind massage gradually took shape, it restricted these individuals from choosing a career freely. The blind massage policy has resulted in deep-rooted social prejudices, and it demonstrates disability-based discrimination and charity-oriented practices. Discussion: The Chinese blind massage policy is discriminatory and does not reflect the modern concept of disability rights advocated in the United Nations' Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Implications for Practitioners: The Chinese government needs to promote institutional reforms to provide better education and employment for people with visual impairments to change the limited content of vocational training and eliminate discriminatory policies. We consider a digital product seller who needs to determine the number of items to sell and its price over an infinite horizon. The seller indeed owns unlimited supply of the digital products like music or software. Each buyer is risk-neutral and needs one unit of the product. The number of buyers in each period and their private valuations are random. The seller conducts an auction to allocate the items in each period. The buyers who fail to gain one item in the previous periods will rebid in the subsequent auctions. Regarding the formulated dynamic program, we prove that the optimal allocation solution is a variant of the base-stock policy. Based on the known Revenue Equivalence Principle, we also prove that the generalized second-price auction and the first-price auction will result in the same expected revenue for the seller. Finally, with mild technical modifications, the results of the infinite-horizon case can be extended to the finite-horizon case even if the demand is time-varying stochastic and independent. Slow transit constipation (STC) is a gastrointestinal disorder characterized by abnormal prolonged colonic transit time, which affects the life quality of many people. The decrease number of interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) is involved in the pathogenesis of STC. However, the molecular mechanism of loss of ICCs in STC remains unclear, making it difficult to develop new agents for the disease. In this study, we investigated the mechanism of decreasing ICCs in the pathogenesis of STC. We constructed the STC model rats by using atropine and diphenoxylate. A series of methods were used including immunofluorescence and immunochemistry staining, western blot, qRT-PCR, exosomes extraction and exosomes labeling. The results indicate that ICCs decreased in the STC rats accompanied with the macrophages activation. Further studies suggested that macrophages decreased the cell viability of ICCs by secretion exosomes containing miR-34c-5p. miR-34c-5p targeted the 3′-UTR of stem cell factor(SCF) mRNA and regulated the expression of SCF negatively. In conclusion, we demonstrated a novel regulatory mechanism of ICCs cell viability in STC. We found that exosome miR-34c-5p mediate macrophage-ICCs cross-talk. The charge density wave (CDW) in 1T–TiSe2 harbors a nontrivial symmetry configuration. It is important to understand this underlying symmetry both for gaining a handle on the mechanism of CDW formation and for probing the CDW experimentally. Here, based on first-principles computations within the framework of the density functional theory, we unravel the connection between the symmetries of the normal and CDW states and the electronic structure of 1T–TiSe2. Our analysis highlights the key role of irreducible representations of the electronic states and the occurrence of band gaps in the system in driving the CDW. By showing how symmetry-related topology can be obtained directly from the electronic structure, our study provides a practical pathway in search of topological CDW insulators. Photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting is capable of converting solar energy to hydrogen and recombination loss at surface states inevitably compromises its efficiency. Selective conversion surface states to catalytic active sites would, therefore, have positive effect on photocurrent enhancement. We first adopted Zn(II) and Cr(III) to in situ passivate surface state of hydrothermally grown hematite electrodes. By plotting the photocurrent onset potential against the fraction of occupied adsorption site by Zn(II) and Cr(III), we found that surface state accounted for 0.1% of active sites of hematite electrodes. The fully passivated hematite possessed a reduced photocurrent onset potential by 0.12 V in comparison with that of raw hematite. Importantly, additional heat treatment of fully passivated hematite provided a great opportunity to selectively convert surface states to catalytic sites. For example, low temperature (120°C) treatment of Zn(II) passivated hematite was noted to exhibit almost doubled photocurrent at 1.1 VRHE in comparison with that of raw hematite. Background: Obesity affects approximately 800 million people worldwide and may contribute to various diseases, especially cardiovascular and cerebrovascular conditions. Fat distribution and content represent two related yet distinct axes determining the impact of adipose tissue on health. Unlike traditional fat measurement indices, which often overlook fat distribution, the Chinese visceral adiposity index (CVAI) is a novel metric used to assess visceral fat accumulation and associated health risks. Our objective is to evaluate its association with the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Methods: A nationwide longitudinal study spanning 9 years was conducted to investigate both the effects of baseline CVAI levels (classified as low and high) and dynamic changes in CVAI over time, including maintenance of low CVAI, transition from low to high, transition from high to low, and maintenance of high CVAI. Continuous scales (restricted cubic spline curves) and categorical scales (Kaplan-Meier curves and multivariable Cox regression analyses) were utilized to evaluate the relationship between CVAI and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Furthermore, subgroup analyses were conducted to investigate potential variations. Results: Totally 1761 individuals (22.82%) experienced primary outcomes among 7717 participants. In the fully adjusted model, for each standard deviation increase in CVAI, there was a significant increase in the risk of primary outcomes [1.20 (95%CI: 1.14–1.27)], particularly pronounced in the high CVAI group [1.38 (95%CI: 1.25–1.54)] compared to low CVAI group. Regarding transition patterns, individuals who consistently maintained high CVAI demonstrated the highest risk ratio compared to those who consistently maintained low CVAI [1.51 (95%CI: 1.31–1.74)], followed by individuals transitioning from low to high CVAI [1.22 (95% CI: 1.01–1.47)]. Analysis of restricted cubic spline curves indicated a positive dose-response relationship between CVAI and risk of primary outcomes (p for non-linear = 0.596). Subgroup analyses results suggest that middle-aged individuals with high CVAI face a notably greater risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in contrast to elderly individuals [1.75 (95% CI: 1.53–1.99)]. Conclusion: This study validates a significant association between baseline levels of CVAI and its dynamic changes with the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) infection results in toxin-induced epithelial injury and marked colonic inflammation. Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and NF-κB which regulated by MAP kinase phosphatase (MKP, also known as dual specificity phosphatases, DUSP) are fundamental signalling pathways that mediate multiple cellular processes. However, the regulation of DUSP/MAPKs and NF-κB pathway in C. difficile-induced colonic inflammation remains unclear. Here, we report that TcdB significantly inhibits cell viability and induces production of IL-1β and TNF-α and activation of MAPKs and NF-κB. An E3-ubiquitin ligase, TRIM46, ubiquitinates DUSP1, and its knockdown significantly inhibit TcdB-induced activation of MAPKs and NF-κB and production of IL-1β and TNF-α. Moreover, TRIM46 overexpression induced production of IL-1β and TNF-α also reversed by DUSP1 overexpression. We further found that promoter of TRIM46 also demonstrated binding to NF-κBp65, leading to regulate TRIM46 expression. Introduction: Our aim was to assess key muscle imaging and contractility parameters in the Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) rat model (Dmd-KO rat), which have not yet been characterized sufficiently.Methods: We performed in-vivo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for thigh and leg muscles, and performed hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and in-vivo muscle contractility testing in specific hindlimb muscles.Results: MRI prior to testing muscle contractility revealed multiple, unevenly distributed focal hyperintensities in the Dmd-KO rat quadriceps and tibialis anterior muscles. H&E staining showed corresponding areas of inflammation and ongoing regeneration. In-vivo contractile testing showed maximal force generated by Dmd-KO muscles was significantly lower, and susceptibility to injury was ~ two-fold greater in the Dmd-KO rats compared to wild-type (WT) rats.Discussion: Together, the MRI findings, histological findings, and the low strength and high susceptibility to injury in muscles support use of the Dmd-KO rat as an animal model of DMD. In the current study, two new coordination complexes with the chemical formulae of [Co(cbba)(bimb)](H2O) (1, H2cbba = 3-((3-carboxybenzyl)oxy)benzoic acid, bimb = 6,6′-bis(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)-2,2'-bipyridine) and {[Co(pdc)(bimb)](DMF)}n (2, H2pda = pyrazine-2,5-dicarboxylic acid) have been successfully prepared by reaction of the Co(NO3)2·6H2O with the bimb ligand in the presence of different carboxylate ligands (H2cbba for 1 and H2pda for 2). Lactobacillus reuteri YSJL-12 was isolated from healthy sow fresh feces and used as probiotics additives previously. To investigate the genetic basis on probiotic potential and identify the genes in the strain, the complete genome of YSJL-12 was sequenced. Then comparative genome analysis on 9 strains of Lactobacillus reuteri was performed. The genome of YSJL-12 consisted of a circular 2,084,748 bp chromosome and 2 circular plasmids (51,906 and 15,134 bp). From among the 2065 protein-coding sequences (CDSs), the genes resistant to the environmental stress were identified. The function of COG (Clusters of Orthologous Group) protein genes was predicted, and the KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes) pathways were analyzed. The comparative genome analysis indicated that the pan-genome contained a core genome of 1257 orthologous gene clusters, an accessory genome of 1064 orthologous gene clusters, and 1148 strain-specific genes, and the antibacterial mechanism among Lactobacillus reuteri strains might be different. The phylogenetic analysis and genomic collinearity revealed that the phylogenetic relationship among 9 strains of Lactobacillus reuteri was connected with host species and showed host specificity. Background: People with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) often have structural or functional alterations of the central nervous system, including changes in brain network organization. These have been associated with neuropsychological deficits, but outcomes are not consistent across studies. We used a rat model of FASD to assess brain network alterations in males and females following ethanol exposure during a prenatal period similar to the first half of gestation in humans. Methods: Pregnant Long Evans rats were given an ethanol‐containing or isocaloric non‐ethanol diet from gestation day 6 to 20. Resting‐state functional magnetic resonance imaging was performed on offspring in young adulthood. Graph theoretical analysis was used to assess properties associated with the whole brain network organization, with a focus on segregation, integration, and small‐world organization—a feature which allows specialized local information processing (segregation) and simultaneously efficient global information sharing (integration). Results: Ethanol‐exposed females showed a significant decrease in small‐worldness compared with control females or with ethanol‐exposed males. Compared to control females, the proportion of animals with atypically high path length (1 standard deviation higher than the grand average) was significantly higher in ethanol‐exposed females, indicating that the alteration in small‐world organization is driven by decreased network integration. No significant effects were seen in males. Conclusion: The results revealed that prenatal ethanol exposure disrupts the balance between network segregation and integration in young adult female rats. This paper considers an auction-based parking reservation problem where a parking management platform is the auctioneer and the drivers are bidders. The platform is in charge of multiple homogeneous parking spaces. A winner may leave earlier or occupy the parking space longer than the time he has reserved. The phenomena are known as (ex post) demand disturbances, which can occur only after the last auction terminates. The platform may penalize or compensate a driver who causes demand disturbance. Besides, investigation is conducted into three types of driver behaviors, namely, gain/loss neutrality, loss aversion , and gain seeking , and the reference effects are examined. An effective multi-stage Vickrey–Clarke–Groves (MS-VCG) auction mechanism is raised. Expect for the disturbance makers, the MS-VCG auction is capable to achieve allocative efficiency, incentive compatibility, and individual rationality. As shown by computational results, in the absence of reference effect, both penalty and compensation rise with the number of bidders. If drivers are gain/loss neutral, the average utility of winners reaches the highest, while the penalty and compensation reach the lowest, as compared to loss-averse and gain-seeking drivers. The total VCG payment received by the auctioneer increases with the reference price. Finally, based on our proposed model, the platform has the ability to deal with the demand disturbances by holding a certain number of parking spaces that are not auctioned for reservation. Fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (Smith), has caused significant losses for crop production in China. The fall armyworm is mainly controlled by the chemical insecticides, whereas the frequent application of insecticides would result in the resistance development. Insect cytochrome P450 monooxygenases play an essential part in the detoxification of insecticides. In this study, five P450 genes were selected to determine the role in response to insecticides by RNA interference (RNAi). Developmental expression pattern analysis revealed that S. frugiperda CYP321A8 , CYP321A9 , and CYP321B1 were highest in second-instar larvae among developmental stages, with 2.04-, 3.39-, and 8.58-fold compared with eggs, whereas CYP337B5 and CYP6AE44 were highest in adult stage, with 16.3- and 10.6-fold in comparison of eggs, respectively. Tissue-specific expression pattern analysis exhibited that CYP321A8 , CYP321B1 , and CYP6AE44 were highest in the midguts, with 3.56-, 3.33-, and 3.04-fold compared with heads, whereas CYP321A9 and CYP337B5 were highest in wings, with 3.07- and 3.36-fold compared with heads, respectively. RNAi was also conducted to explore detoxification effects of the five P450 genes on chlorantraniliprole. The second-instar larvae became more sensitive to chlorantraniliprole with a higher mortality rate than the control, after silencing CYP321A8 , CYP321A9 , and CYP321B1 , respectively. These findings strongly supported our viewpoint that CYP321A8 , CYP321A9 , and CYP321B1 may play a critical role in insecticide detoxification. We study a less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation service procurement (TSP) in the waste collection industry, where shippers make small-volume requests and a single carrier optimizes the collection routes to realize maximum profitability. In our proposed auction-based waste collection synchronization (A-WCS) mechanism, the carrier plays a role as the auctioneer to decide on who wins the bids and the corresponding payments while the shippers act as the bidders. This is attributed to the carrier-centric structure where a carrier has to consolidate multiple LTL shipping requests so as to provide cost-effective services. Furthermore, a single shipper (e.g., a construction site) may generate multiple types of waste and highly desires for a synchronous service, requiring multiple vehicles dedicated for different waste types to arrive almost simultaneously. The synchronization is beneficial to prevent repeated handling and reduce disruption caused to the minimum. The synchronization requirements are innovatively factored by incorporating time windows into each customer bid. The A-WCS mechanism can encourage truthful bidding from shippers and obtain fair payments for both sides, therefore can benefit the market in the long run. A-WCS problems are extremely difficult to solve due to the integration of two combinatorial problems. We address the A-WCS with a two-layered algorithm, where the variable neighborhood search (VNS) is purposed to search auction allocations in the upper layer and tabu search (TS) is conducted to generate efficient vehicle routes in the lower layer. The capability of our algorithm is demonstrated by an extensive computational study, comparing with a number of state-of-the-art exact and heuristic approaches. Finally, a number of managerial implications for the practitioners are obtained, with insights into the impacts caused by changes in market size, task complexity, customer distribution pattern, and auction frequency. In this paper, the potassium cobalt hexacyanoferrate (II), K 2 CoFe(CN) 6 , with peroxidase-like activity was used for the fabrication of a novel label-free Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG) electrochemical immunosensor. The K 2 CoFe(CN) 6 nanocubes were made by a simple hydrothermal method and followed by low-temperature calcination. In addition to structural characterization, the peroxidase-mimicking catalytic property of the material was confirmed by a chromogenic reaction. It is known that H 2 O 2 can oxidize electroactive thionine molecules under the catalysis of horseradish peroxidase (HRP). In this nanozyme-based electrochemical immunoassay, due to the steric hindrance, the formation of immune-complex of LGG and LGG antibody on the modified GCE inhibits the catalytic activity of the peroxidase mimics of K 2 CoFe(CN) 6 and thus reduced the current signal. Therefore, the developed electrochemical immunosensor achieved quantitative detection of LGG. Under optimal conditions, the linear range of the sensor was obtained from 101 to 106 CFU mL−1 with a minimum detection limit (LOD) of 12 CFU mL−1. Furthermore, the immunosensor was successfully applied in the quantitative detection of LGG in dairy product samples with recoveries ranging from 93.2% to 106.8%. The heterostructure integration of nanostructures, which can involve higher freedom of degree by applying two or more materials into one integrated photonic or electromagnetic devices, attracted extensively increasing attention among the communities of electrons, photonics, materials science, and engineering. However, it is still a challenging topic to realize heterostructure integration with accurate micro–nano-scale geometry in a large area. Here, we propose the secondary-deposited elevated self-assembling nanosphere lithography for large-area heterostructure integration of plasmonic metasurface. As the proof of concept, an infrared metasurface composed of Au–Ag crescent pairs is realized in the practice. By adjusting the evaporation angle, crescent pairs with different morphologies can be freely machined without changing masks. Optical characterization and numerical results show that the heterostructure crescent-pair metasurface owns uniform and stable geometrical properties and flexible capability on infrared optical field modulation. Our work enriches the degree of freedom of nano-structure-based optical devices and paves the heterostructure integrated metasurface to potential industrial applications with large dimension, low cost, and fast production. The present study investigated the effects and mechanism by which curcumin suppresses intestinal microvascular endothelial cells (INMECs) invasion and angiogenesis induced by activated platelets. INMECs were obtained from healthy rats, and divided into five groups: Control, platelets, platelets +2.5 µM curcumin, platelets +5.0 µM curcumin and platelets +10.0 µM curcumin. Curcumin toxicity was determined and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) concentrations of the five groups were measured using ELISA. The branch point numbers were measured using a capillary tube formation experiment, invasion cell numbers were evaluated with the Transwell assay, relative protein expression levels were measured with western blot assay and immunofluorescence staining of the nucleus. The 2.5, 5 and 10 µM curcumin concentrations were found to be suitable for INMECs. Curcumin significantly downregulated VEGF concentration, suppressed vascular lumen formation and inhibited invasion cell numbers in a dose-dependent manner. The α-smooth muscle actin, collagen I, E-cadherin, phosphorylated (p-) phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K), p-protein kinase B (AKT), p-mammalian target of rapamycin (m-TOR) and hypoxia inducible factor subunit alpha (HIF-1α) protein expression levels of the curcumin-treated groups were significantly downregulated in a dose-dependent manner compared with the platelet group. HIF-1α protein expression levels in the nucleus of the curcumin-treated groups were significantly suppressed in a dose-dependent manner compared with the platelet group. MnO 2 is a common material for the fabrication and design of capacitive deionization (CDI) devices but there is little information on the role of MnO 2 crystal phase on CDI performance. A series of MnO 2 (α, β, γ, and δ phase) were synthesized and fabricated as cathodes for studying the CDI performance as affected by pH in simple batch mode experiments. Our results revealed that the deionization efficiency decreased with increased negative surface charge as a result of the deprotonated surface. Importantly, this correlation was pH independent and the surface heterogeneity due to different MnO 2 phase was likely responsible for the different degree of surface ionization and consequently the CDI efficiency. Results of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy analyses further implicated that a highly ionized surface would result in a diffusion layer with a great resistance that conversely inhibited the access of co-ions in the CDI process. This indicated the applied potential was mainly responsible for driving ions transporting through the double layer resistance instead of accommodating them (electrosorption). Based on our results, the surface heterogeneity as a result of different spatially distributed MnO 6 octahedral would be accounted for the varying degree of surface ionization and consequently the discrepancy in CDI efficiency among different MnO 2 phases. Three-dimensional (3D) topological semimetals represent a new class of topological matters. The study of this family of materials has been at the frontiers of condensed matter physics, and many breakthroughs have been made. Several topological semimetal phases, including Dirac semimetals (DSMs), Weyl semimetals (WSMs), nodal-line semimetals (NLSMs), and triple-point semimetals, have been theoretically predicted and experimentally demonstrated. The low-energy excitation around the Dirac/Weyl nodal points, nodal line, or triply degenerated nodal point can be viewed as emergent relativistic fermions. Experimental studies have shown that relativistic fermions can result in a rich variety of exotic transport properties, e.g., extremely large magnetoresistance, the chiral anomaly, and the intrinsic anomalous Hall effect. In this review, we first briefly introduce band structural characteristics of each topological semimetal phase, then review the current studies on quantum oscillations and exotic transport properties of various topological semimetals, and finally provide a perspective of this area. Objective. We sought to investigate the efficacy and safety of Infliximab for prevention of postoperative recurrence in patients with Crohn's disease (CD), in a meta-analysis of clinical trial results. Methods. The Medline, Embase, PubMed, and Web of Science databases were systematically searched for suitable studies. A meta-analysis of enrolled studies was performed to analyze the efficacy of Infliximab on outcomes regarding the prevention of postoperative recurrence of CD. A Galbraith radial plot was used to quantify the heterogeneity. Funnel plot and Egger test were performed to describe the bias of publication. A Forest plot was prepared to indicate the efficacy outcomes. Results. A total of 7 prospective trials were included in our meta-analysis (N=455). The Funnel plot and Egger test showed there was no significant bias in the included publications. The Cochrane collaboration tool indicated that all 7 prospective trials were of high quality. The results of Galbraith radial plot showed that no study was the source of heterogeneity. Compared with the placebo group, Infliximab decreased the rates of endoscopic recurrence (RR =0.421; 95% CI 0.328 to 0.539; p<0.001), and there was a significant reduction in rates of clinical recurrence in the Infliximab-treated group (RR =0.519; 95% CI 0.349 to 0.774; p=0.001). Furthermore, Infliximab treatment did not show adverse effects as other systematic therapeutic drugs, indicating that Infliximab treatment is effective and well tolerated. Conclusion. Background Acinetobacter spp. are among the most common causes of bacterial nosocomial infections, including pneumonia and bloodstream infections. Previous studies on the risk factors of bloodstream Acinetobacter spp. infections (BSAcIs) primarily compared uninfected patients to those with BSAcIs. However, the identified risk factors contribute to either BSIs or Acinetobacter spp. infections. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to analyze the risk factors of BSAcIs in comparison to non-bloodstream Acinetobacter infections (non-BSAcIs). Methods We retrospectively reviewed 10 years of medical records of BSAcIs from a teaching hospital in Shanghai. Clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes were compared between BSAcIs and non-BSAcIs. Treatment outcomes of carbapenem- and sulbactam-based regimens were also evaluated. Results Respiratory tract infections (43.1%, 44/102) were the most common source of BSAcIs. The in-hospital mortality rate of BSAcIs (22.5%, 23/102) was significantly higher than that of non-BSAcIs (10.8%, 24/204). Compared with non-BSAcIs, the previous use of corticoids, proton pump inhibitor (PPI) usage, and the implementation of intracranial drainage were independent risk factors for BSAcIs. The clinical efficacy rate of antimicrobial treatment of carbapenem-susceptible BSAcIs was significantly higher than that of carbapenem–non-susceptible (CNS) BSAcIs (74.0% vs 44.3%). Sulbactam-based regimens had similar clinical efficacy rates as carbapenem-based regimens for treating CNS-BSAcIs (50.0% vs 45.8%). Conclusions The in-hospital mortality rate of BSAcIs was significantly higher than that of non-BSAcIs. Glucocorticoids, PPI usage, and intracranial drainage were independent risk factors for BSAcIs. The association between inflammatory factor expression and blood pressure with urinary protein in the placenta of pregnant women with pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) was investigated to provide a new vision for the clinical prevention and treatment of PIH. Rats were used as animal models and were randomly divided into three groups (control, hypertension and treatment groups) on day 15 of pregnancy with 20 rats in each group. The 10% hypoxia-induced PIH group was induced with administration of an anti-hypertensive drug, and the treatment group was giventreprostinil for one week after the 10% hypoxia-induced PIH. On the 21st day, the experiment was terminated and the placenta was taken to measure the mRNA and protein expression levels of IL-6 and TNF-α, respectively. Pearson's correlation analysis demonstrated the correlation between IL-6 and TNF-α with blood pressure and urinary protein. The blood pressure and urinary protein concentrations in the hypertension group were significantly higher than that in the control group, and the expression levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in the hypertension group were significantly higher (P<0.05). The treatment group significantly reduced inflammatory cytokines and blood pressure and urinary protein levels (P<0.05). Pearson's correlation analysis showed that IL-6 and TNF-α were positively correlated with blood pressure and urinary protein concentration. The blood pressure and urinary protein concentration in PIH rats and the expression levels of IL-6 and TNF-α were significantly higher, and IL-6 and TNF-α were positively correlated with blood pressure and urine protein concentration. This paper is among the first proposing an integrated auction and market design method for the parking space sharing and allocation problem. Drivers (agents) who fail to exchange their own parking spaces can then rent them to the platform. The platform receives private parking spaces from agents and manages some public parking spaces. We first develop the urban parking management cloud platform through Internet of Things. Based on this systemic framework, parking spaces are shared among agents via a price-compatible top trading cycles and chains (PC-TTCCs) mechanism and the platform’s parking spaces are reassigned via a one-sided Vickrey–Clarke–Groves (O-VCG) auction. Both the PC-TTCC mechanism with rule e (PC-TTCC [ $e$ ]) and O-VCG auction are effective in terms of strategy-proofness and (allocative or Pareto) efficiency. In the PC-TTCC [ $e$ ] mechanism, the platform’s payment rule used in private parking space sharing is determined based on historical O-VCG auction prices. Our experimental results further show that the proposed mechanism results in system profitability of 20%–30% and ex post budget balance for the platform. Note to Practitioners—This paper was motivated by the problem of constantly climbing parking needs in major cities. This paper suggests a new approach for intelligent parking space sharing, allocation, and pricing from the integrated market design and auction perspective based on Internet of Things/cloud technological architecture. The proposed mechanisms are effective in terms of strategy-proofness and efficiency, leading to remarkable system profitability. Reasonable agents’ cost saving, bidders’ value, and ex post budget balance for the platform can also be guaranteed in a big city with larger population. Several key managerial implications have been gained. First, a public platform should choose the integrated mechanism that realizes higher agents’ cost saving. Second, agents should be encouraged to rent their private parking slots to the platform for reaching more agents’ welfare. Third, the platform should leverage his owned public parking spaces to achieve higher system profitability and agents’ cost saving. Fourth, compared with Vickrey–Clarke–Groves auction, the simpler first-price auction may lead to higher cost saving for agents in some cases even if it cannot realize allocative efficiency and incentive compatibility. Finally, the platform’s profit will increase and the agents’ cost saving will decrease with the percentage of no show. Preliminary simulation experiments suggest that this approach is feasible but it has not yet been incorporated into a prototype system nor verified in real-world applications. Regarding future work, some other factors such as transaction costs, parking uncertainty, and release of traffic congestion can be included in the proposed mechanism. Three-photon resonance-enhanced ionization spectra of pure CO via the A 1Π state have been obtained under a pressure range of 0.1–13 torr. It is found that the spectra can only be observed by using tightly focused laser beams, and its intensity manifests adverse pressure effect, i.e., the signal decreases with the increase in pressure for gas pressures above 1.0 torr, and almost disappears at 13 torr. Convincing experimental evidence is provided to show that the appearance of the spectra is not due to direct three-photon absorption of the fundamental laser beam, but to reabsorption of the laser-induced third harmonic generation (THG) in the CO medium. In other words, under tightly focused conditions, THG reabsorption is much stronger than direct three-photon absorption. Hence, contrary to the assertions given by previous investigators in Xe that the anomalous phenomena in three-photon excitation are caused by destructive interference, we have shown that phase matching, which greatly increases the THG, plays a major role in the three-photon resonance-enhanced ionization spectra of CO(A 1Π-X 1Σ+), and accounts for both the appearance of the spectra and the adverse pressure effect of the spectral intensity. The influence of the ac Stark effect on the line shift and line shape is studied in the three-photon resonance enhanced ionization spectroscopy of COA 1Π(v’)←X 1Σ(v‘=0), where v’=1, 2, or 3. Experimental results show that the line shift varies from one vibrational band to another and differs for various lines in the same band, although it is to a lesser degree. This is given an adequate theoretical elucidation. A detailed calculation, based on the ac stark effect with evaluation of the dipole matrix element, gives -0.66, -0.31, and 0.87 cm-1 for P11 of the (1-0), (2-0), and (3-0) band, respectively, where the negative values stand for red shift while the positive one for blue shift. These results are very close to the experimental observations, viz., -0.48, -0.13, and 0.77 for P11 of the (1-0), (2-0), and (3-0) bands, respectively. Furthermore, the line shape is found to be asymmetrically broadened. For the blue-shift line, the red side is much steeper than the blue side, whereas for the red-shift line, the reverse situation appears. This is again explained as due to the ac Stark effect coupled with the spatial inhomogeneity of the laser field. Myroides odoratus is a low-virulence opportunistic human pathogen. Infections caused by M. odoratus are not common, but reports are increasing in recent years. The biggest challenge for treatment is its resistance to most antibiotics. In 2015, we isolated a pathogenic multidrug-resistant strain of M. odoratus from a urinary tract infection (UTI) patient's urine sample. To report the experience in managing M. odoratus-related UTI and investigate the genetic mechanism of this carbapenem-resistant strain, we conducted a series of microbiological and molecular studies. The bacterial strain was identified as M. odoratus by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of 17 antimicrobial agents were determined against this strain. Whole-genome sequencing was performed and screened for possible β-lactamase genes. A β-lactamase gene, blaMOC, was identified by whole-genome sequencing, then cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli DH5α to characterize its function. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing showed that the strain had relatively low MIC to levofloxacin and sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim (SMZ/TMP). After unsuccessful empirical therapy, the UTI was controlled by levofloxacin in combination with SMZ/TMP. Whole-genome sequencing identified a subclass B1 metallo-β-lactamase gene, blaMOC, which conferred resistance to most β-lactams except for aztreonam and cefepime. In conclusion, a new β-lactamase gene, blaMOC, was found in an isolate of M. odoratus. The broad antimicrobial resistance of this isolate is at least attributed partially to this gene. Four high-nuclearity lanthanide–transition metal clusters, formulated as [Ln45M7(OH)68(CO3)12(CH3COO)26(CH3CH2COO)6(H2O)70]·(ClO4)25·(H2O)x (abbreviated as Ln45M7: 1, Gd45Co7; 2, Gd45Ni7; 3, Dy45Co7; 4, Dy45Ni7; x≈ 50), were obtained with the mixed protecting ligands acetate and propionate. Structural analysis shows that the cluster cationic core contains 52 metal ions featuring a bowl-like structure. 12 CO32− and 3 ClO4− anions play the role of mixed anion templates. Magnetic studies reveal that the two isotropic Gd-containing clusters Gd45Co7 and Gd45Ni7 exhibit a large magnetocaloric effect (MCE), while the anisotropic Dy-containing clusters Dy45Co7 and Dy45Ni7 show slow relaxation of magnetization. Background: Children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) often have deficits associated with multisensory processing. Because ethanol (EtOH) disrupts activity‐dependent neuronal plasticity, a process that is essential for refining connections during cortical development, we hypothesize that early alcohol exposure results in alterations in multisensory cortical networks, which could explain the multisensory processing deficits seen in FASD. Here, we use a gyrencephalic animal model to test the prediction that early alcohol exposure alters the functional connectivity and microstructural features of the rostral posterior parietal cortex (PPr), a visual‐tactile integrative area. Methods: Ferrets were exposed to moderate doses of EtOH during the brain growth spurt period. Functional connectivity and microstructural features were assessed using resting‐state functional magnetic resonance imaging and ex vivo diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI), respectively, when the animals reached juvenile age and adulthood, respectively. Results: While the whole brain volume was smaller in alcohol‐treated animals, the relative size of the frontal brain area was larger when compared to control animals. Altered functional connectivity was observed in alcohol‐treated animals, where increased connectivity was observed between PPr and the region that provides its major visual inputs (the caudal portion of the parietal cortex), but not with the region that provides its major somatosensory inputs (tertiary somatosensory cortex). DKI revealed reduced microstructural tissue complexity in all investigated sensory areas of alcohol‐treated animals. Conclusions: In this study, we observed alterations in cortical functional connectivity and microstructural integrity in a cortical area involved in multisensory processing in a ferret FASD model. Buchnera aphidicola is a primary symbiotic bacterium which provides essential amino acids to aphids. In this study, we sequenced nuclear 16s rDNA and atpAGD genes for 156 individuals of B. aphidicola from eight geographically distant populations to investigate the genetic diversity and structure of B. aphidicola associated to the sumac gall aphid Schlechtendalia chinensis in central and southern China. Our analyses of the combined sequences showed that B. aphidicola from S. chinensis had high haplotype and nucleotide diversity (h = 0.893; π = 0.00164). One of the 16 haplotypes detected had a wide geographic distribution across the central and southern China and was probably the ancestral haplotype of B. aphidicola from S. chinensis. A network and phylogenetic analysis revealed a geographic structure in which the 16 haplotypes of B. aphidicola were divided into the northern and southern clades separated by the Yangtze River. The two clades diverged from each other at 22.1 ± 3.7 Mya according to our divergence time estimations. Therefore, the modern genetic structure in B. aphidicola from S. chinensis has been probably impacted by historical geological events. Combined with the data from GenBank, we also reconstructed the phylogenetic relationships of three aphid subfamilies and their symbiont bacteria. Retinoblastoma is reported as a rare cancer that occurs during childhood. Although several treatments are available for retinoblastoma, there is a need for alternative new treatment modalities for retinoblastoma with better safety and efficacy profile. Galangin (3,5,7-trihydroxyflavone), is a flavonoid compound, which is found in high concentration in lesser galangal. Galangin has been reported to have various bioactivities, including anti-inflammation, anti-oxidative stress and anti-cancer through various pathways. The objective of our study was to explore the effects of galangin on the suppression of retinoblastoma in vitro and in vivo. Using MTT analysis, transwell-chamber migration analysis, colony-forming analysis, wound healing analysis, immunofluorescent assay of KI-67, we found that galangin exhibited a suppressive effect on human retinoblastoma cell proliferation and migration. Moreover, PTEN, a tumor-suppressor, was increased by galangin in cancer cells and in tumor tissues isolated from retinoblastoma xenograft models. Additionally, galangin reduced protein kinase B (Akt) phosphorylation, which was associated with PTEN up-regulation. Galangin-reduced Akt activation and cell proliferation was abolished by PTEN knockdown, which might be associated with the over-expression of phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-triphosphate (PIP3)/diphosphate product (PIP2). Furthermore, flow cytometry, Hoechst 33258 staining and western blot assays indicated that galangin could induce apoptosis through promoting Caspase-3 pathway, which was, at least partly, dependent on PTEN expression. Our data illustrated that galangin treatment suppressed the growth of retinoblastoma tumor in vivo by anti-proliferative and apoptogenic mechanisms. The purpose of this article is to understand the Learning in Regular Classrooms (LRC) initiative for inclusive education in China. First, the paper reviews the policy, legislation, and practice in relation to the LRC. It then goes on to explore the specific social–political context of the LRC, and compares the Chinese LRC with the Western approaches to inclusion and integration. The authors then discuss the challenges posed by the attempt to further promote the LRC or inclusive education in the collectivist culture and socialist political context of modern China. This paper aims to propose effective auction mechanisms for the carrier collaboration problem with bilateral exchange, which is generally the problem of how to realize the potential of carrier collaboration over a bilateral exchange transportation network (e.g., a B2B e-commerce logistics environment). Carriers offer the lanes with the highest marginal costs for subcontracting, while they are allowed to bid on bundles of the lanes. We construct a bundle double auction (BDA) for the one-unit demand case in which the lane offered by each buyer (transportation service purchaser) is only required to be covered with one truckload once. The BDA mechanism realizes incentive compatibility, individual rationality, budget balance, and asymptotical efficiency. We then propose two mechanisms, called BDA-1 and BDA-2, for the multiunit demand case in which each buyer asks for one or multiple truckloads of transportation service. Both mechanisms are effective but differ in incentive compatibility and realized social welfare. The computational study shows that all proposed mechanisms are practically implementable and lead to considerable cost savings for the carrier collaboration network, and most of the benefits generated via collaboration are assigned among carriers. Blast-related traumatic brain injury (bTBI) resulting from improvised explosive devices is the hallmark injury of recent wars, and affects many returning veterans who experienced either direct or indirect exposure. Many of these veterans have long-term neurocognitive symptoms. However, there is very little evidence to show whether blast-induced acceleration alone, in the absence of secondary impacts, can cause mild TBI. In this study, we examine the effect of under-vehicle blast-induced hyperacceleration (uBIH) of ∼1700 g on the biochemical and microstrucutral changes in the brain using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS). Two groups of adult male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were subjected to a sham procedure and uBIH, respectively. Axonal and neurochemical alterations were assessed using in vivo DTI and MRS at 2 h, 24 h, and 7 days after uBIH. Significant reduction in mean diffusivity, axial diffusivity, and radial diffusivity were observed in the hippocampus, thalamus, internal capsule, and corpus callosum as early as 2 h, and sustained up to 7 days post-uBIH. Total creatine (Cr) and glutamine (Gln) were reduced in the internal capsule at 24 h post-uBIH. The reductions in DTI parameters, Cr and Gln in vivo suggest potential activation of astrocytes and diffuse axonal injury following a single underbody blast, confirming previous histology reports. Intestinal fibrotic stricture is a major complication of Crohn’s disease (CD) and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is considered as an important contributor to the formation of intestinal fibrosis by increasing extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins. Curcumin, a compound derived from rhizomes of Curcuma, has been demonstrated with a potent antifibrotic effect. However, its effect on intestinal fibrosis and the potential mechanism is not completely understood. Here we found that curcumin pretreatment significantly represses TGF-β1-induced Smad pathway and decreases its downstream α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) gene expression in intestinal epithelial cells (IEC-6); in contrast, curcumin increases expression of E-cadherin and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) in IEC-6. Moreover, curcumin promotes nuclear translocation of PPARγ and the inhibitory effect of curcumin on EMT could be reversed by PPARγ antagonist GW9662. Consistently, in the rat model of intestinal fibrosis induced by 2,4,5-trinitrobenzene sulphonic acid (TNBS), oral curcumin attenuates intestinal fibrosis by increasing the expression of PPARγ and E-cadherin and decreasing the expression of α-SMA, FN, and CTGF in colon tissue. Collectively, these results indicated that curcumin is able to prevent EMT progress in intestinal fibrosis by PPARγ-mediated repression of TGF-β1/Smad pathway. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
