The structural, conformational, and spectroscopic properties in the gas phase of 20 bicyclic monoterpenes and monoterpenoids have been analyzed by a new accurate, reduced-cost computational strategy. In detail, the revDSD-PBEP86 double-hybrid functional in conjunction with the D3BJ empirical dispersion corrections and a suitable triple-zeta basis set provides accurate geometrical parameters, whence equilibrium rotational constants, which are further improved by proper account of core–valence correlation. Average deviations within 0.1% between computed and experimental rotational constants are reached when taking into account the vibrational corrections obtained by the B3LYP functional in conjunction with a double-zeta basis set in the framework of second-order vibrational perturbation theory. In addition to their intrinsic interest, the studied terpenes further extend the panel of systems for which the proposed strategy has provided accurate results at density functional theory cost. Therefore, a very accurate yet robust and user-friendly tool is now available for systematic investigations of the role of stereo-electronic effects on the properties of large systems of current technological and/or biological interest by experimentally oriented researchers. Terpenes represent a highly diverse group of natural products with wide applications. Terpenoid structures can be derived from different renewable sources and utilized as fuels. Application as fuels requires hydrogenation of the double bonds in the respective molecules to ensure clean combustion. This hydrogenation can be performed either directly with elemental hydrogen or indirectly via transfer hydrogenation with a Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier. In this study, the thermochemical fundamentals of these reaction has been evaluated. For this task, for a first time a combination of experimental thermochemistry and quantum-chemical molecular modelling has been applied. The results show the hydrogenation of the respective structures is thermodynamically highly favourable. Correspondingly, dehydrogenation would be comparatively unfavorable. Yet, for a fuel no dehydrogenation is required. As an alternative to conventional hydrogenation, transfer hydrogenation, which is often subject to partial conversions due to limitations by the reaction equilibrium, can be realized with a high degree of conversion. While the entropy of reaction for hydrogen transfer from cyclohexyl-structures to terpene structures is close to zero, the enthalpy of reaction is highly negative. This leads to a Gibbs energy of reaction which is clearly negative and ensures a large thermodynamic driving force for the reaction. As a consequence, downstream processing, which is usually very demanding for transfer hydrogenations, is comparatively easy. Inspired by nature's redox management in bioinorganic systems, we developed various Zn-complexes to catalyze a radical-mediated borrowing hydrogen process for producing β-disubstituted ketones. A diverse range of secondary alcohols, including fatty alcohols, terpenoids and steroid analogs, were successfully utilized for the chemoselective functionalization of ketones. Several organometallic and control studies suggest that coordinatively unsaturated radical species operate as active catalysts to promote alcohol activation and initiate the HAT process. Naturally occurring and structurally diverse alkene-containing substrates, terpenes, provided a platform for establishing chemo-, regio-, and diastereoselective reactivity in tantalum catalysed hydroaminoalkylation. Naturally derived 1,3-butadienes revealed the unique regio- and diastereoselective (Z)-1,4-addition products accessible from isoprene and β-myrcene by hydroaminoalkylation. Selective terpene functionalisation, within an industrially produced turpentine mixture, demonstrates functionalisation specificity of β-pinene and limonene. Lastly, sesquiterpene functionalisation using β-caryophyllene and humulene provide rare examples of trisubstituted alkene reactivity in hydroaminoalkylation, by leveraging strainrelease and stereoelectronic effects to control chemoselectivity. As a result of these reactivity studies using natural substrates, new tools for understanding alkene electronic, strain, and stereoelectronic effects on chemo- and diastereoselectivity outcomes have revealed new mechanistic insights into hydroaminoalkylation. Douchi is a highly appreciated product due to its unique flavor, high nutritional value, and health benefits. Douchi from different regions exhibits distinct characteristics. The objective of this study was to investigate the volatile profiles in douchi produced from different geographical origins using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and chemometrics. The volatiles were extracted by headspace solid-phase micro-extraction (HS-SPME) and subsequently determined by GC-MS. A comparative analysis was further conducted to identify the variations in volatile compounds among the samples. The correlation between the samples was investigated by employing cluster analysis (CA) and principal component analysis (PCA). An orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) model was established to discriminate samples from different regions and identify key differential compounds. A total of 46 volatile compounds were detected, among which terpenes, alcohols were the main compounds. Furthermore, 14 key differentiating compounds were screened out based on the OPLS-DA modle. SUMMARY The Lamiaceae (mint family) is the largest known source of furanoclerodanes, a subset of clerodane diterpenoids with broad bioactivities including insect antifeedant properties. The Ajugoideae subfamily, in particular, accumulates significant numbers of structurally related furanoclerodanes. The biosynthetic capacity for formation of these diterpenoids is retained across most Lamiaceae subfamilies, including the early‐diverging Callicarpoideae which forms a sister clade to the rest of Lamiaceae. VacCYP76BK1, a cytochrome P450 monooxygenase from Vitex agnus‐castus, was previously found to catalyze the formation of the proposed precursor to furan and lactone‐containing labdane diterpenoids. Through transcriptome‐guided pathway exploration, we identified orthologs of VacCYP76BK1 in Ajuga reptans and Callicarpa americana. Functional characterization demonstrated that both could catalyze the oxidative cyclization of clerodane backbones to yield a furan ring. Subsequent investigation revealed a total of 10 CYP76BK1 orthologs across six Lamiaceae subfamilies. Through analysis of available chromosome‐scale genomes, we identified four CYP76BK1 members as syntelogs within a conserved syntenic block across divergent subfamilies. This suggests an evolutionary lineage that predates the speciation of the Lamiaceae. Functional characterization of the CYP76BK1 orthologs affirmed conservation of function, as all catalyzed furan ring formation. Additionally, some orthologs yielded two novel lactone ring moieties. The presence of the CYP76BK1 orthologs across Lamiaceae subfamilies closely overlaps with the distribution of reported furanoclerodanes. Together, the activities and distribution of the CYP76BK1 orthologs identified here support their central role in furanoclerodane biosynthesis within the Lamiaceae family. Terpene synthases (TPSs) play pivotal roles in generating diverse terpenoids through complex cyclization pathways. Protein engineering of TPSs offers a crucial approach to expanding terpene diversity. However, significant potential remains untapped due to limited understanding of the structure‐function relationships of TPSs. In this investigation, using a joint approach of molecular dynamics simulations‐assisted engineering and site‐directed mutagenesis, we manipulated the aromatic residue cluster (ARC) of a bifunctional terpene synthase (BFTPS), Pestalotiopsis fici nigtetraene synthase (PfNS). This led to the discovery of previously unreported catalytic functions yielding different cyclization patterns of sesterterpenes. Specifically, a quadruple variant (F89A/Y113F/W193L/T194W) completely altered PfNS′s function, converting it from producing the bicyclic sesterterpene nigtetraene to the tricyclic ophiobolin F. Additionally, analysis of catalytic profiles by double, triple, and quadruple variants demonstrated that the ARC functions as a switch, unprecedently redirecting the production of 5/11 bicyclic (Type B) sesterterpenes to 5/15 bicyclic (Type A) ones. Molecular dynamics simulations and theozyme calculations further elucidated that, in addition to cation‐π interactions, C−H⋅⋅⋅π interactions also play a key role in the cyclization patterns. The biosynthesis of six recently reported non‐canonical C16 sesquiterpenoids named after ancient Greek philosophers, archimedene, aristotelene, eratosthenene, pythagorene, α‐democritene and anaximandrene, was investigated through density functional theory (DFT) calculations and isotopic labeling experiments. Background: Metabolic engineering enables the sustainable and cost-efficient production of complex chemicals. Efficient production of terpenes in Saccharomyces cerevisiae can be achieved by recruiting an intermediate of the mevalonate pathway. The present study aimed to evaluate the engineering strategies of S. cerevisiae for the production of taxadiene, a precursor of taxol, an antineoplastic drug. Result: SCIGS22a, a previously engineered strain with modifications in the mevalonate pathway (MVA), was used as a background strain. This strain was engineered to enable a high flux towards farnesyl diphosphate (FPP) and the availability of NADPH. The strain MVA was generated from SCIGS22a by overexpressing all mevalonate pathway genes. Combining the background strains with 16 different episomal plasmids, which included the combination of 4 genes: tHMGR (3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase), ERG20 (farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase), GGPPS (geranyl diphosphate synthase) and TS (taxadiene synthase) resulted in the highest taxadiene production in S. cerevisiae of 528 mg/L. Conclusion: Our study highlights the critical role of pathway balance in metabolic engineering, mainly when dealing with toxic molecules like taxadiene. We achieved significant improvements in taxadiene production by employing a combinatorial approach and focusing on balancing the downstream and upstream pathways. Background: Due to the complex pathophysiological mechanisms involved in cancer progression and metastasis, current therapeutic approaches lack efficacy and have significant adverse effects. Therefore, it is essential to establish novel strategies for combating cancer. Phytochemicals, which possess multiple biological activities, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimutagenic, immunomodulatory, antiproliferative, anti-angiogenesis, and antimetastatic properties, can regulate cancer progression and interfere in various stages of cancer development by suppressing various signaling pathways. Methods: The current systematic and comprehensive review was conducted based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) criteria, using electronic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Science Direct, until the end of December 2023. After excluding unrelated articles, 111 related articles were included in this systematic review. Results: In this current review, the major signaling pathways of cancer metabolism are highlighted with the promising anticancer role of phytochemicals. This was through their ability to regulate the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)/peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma coactivator-1α (PGC-1α) signaling pathway. The AMPK/PGC-1α signaling pathway plays a crucial role in cancer cell metabolism via targeting energy homeostasis and mitochondria biogenesis, glucose oxidation, and fatty acid oxidation, thereby generating ATP for cell growth. As a result, targeting this signaling pathway may represent a novel approach to cancer treatment. Accordingly, alkaloids, phenolic compounds, terpene/terpenoids, and miscellaneous phytochemicals have been introduced as promising anticancer agents by regulating the AMPK/PGC-1α signaling pathway. Natural products are molecules that fulfil a range of important ecological functions. Many natural products have been exploited for pharmaceutical and agricultural applications. In contrast to many other specialised metabolites, the products of modular nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS) and polyketide synthase (PKS) systems can often (partially) be predicted from the DNA sequence of the biosynthetic gene clusters. This is because the biosynthetic pathways of NRPS and PKS systems adhere to consistent rulesets. These universal biosynthetic rules can be leveraged to generate biosynthetic models of biosynthetic pathways. While these principles have been largely deciphered, software that leverages these rules to automatically generate visualisations of biosynthetic models has not yet been developed. To enable high-quality automated visualisations of natural product biosynthetic pathways, we developed RAIChU (Reaction Analysis through Illustrating Chemical Units), which produces depictions of biosynthetic transformations of PKS, NRPS, and hybrid PKS/NRPS systems from predicted or experimentally verified module architectures and domain substrate specificities. RAIChU also boasts a library of functions to perform and visualise reactions and pathways whose specifics (e.g., regioselectivity, stereoselectivity) are still difficult to predict, including terpenes, ribosomally synthesised and posttranslationally modified peptides and alkaloids. Additionally, RAIChU includes 34 prevalent tailoring reactions to enable the visualisation of biosynthetic pathways of fully maturated natural products. RAIChU can be integrated into Python pipelines, allowing users to upload and edit results from antiSMASH, a widely used BGC detection and annotation tool, or to build biosynthetic PKS/NRPS systems from scratch. RAIChU's cluster drawing correctness (100%) and drawing readability (97.66%) were validated on 5000 randomly generated PKS/NRPS systems, and on the MIBiG database. The automated visualisation of these pathways accelerates the generation of biosynthetic models, facilitates the analysis of large (meta-) genomic datasets and reduces human error. Summary Trichomes are specialized epidermal outgrowths covering the aerial parts of most terrestrial plants. There is a large species variability in occurrence of different types of trichomes such that the molecular regulatory mechanism underlying the formation and the biological function of trichomes in most plant species remain unexplored. Here, we used Chrysanthemum morifolium as a model plant to explore the regulatory network in trichome formation and terpenoid synthesis and unravel the physical and chemical roles of trichomes in constitutive defense against herbivore feeding. By analyzing the trichome‐related genes from transcriptome database of the trichomes‐removed leaves and intact leaves, we identified CmMYC2 to positively regulate both development of T‐shaped and glandular trichomes as well as the content of terpenoids stored in glandular trichomes. Furthermore, we found that the role of CmMYC2 in trichome formation and terpene synthesis was mediated by interaction with CmMYBML1. Our results reveal a sophisticated molecular mechanism wherein the CmMYC2–CmMYBML1 feedback inhibition loop regulates the formation of trichomes (non‐glandular and glandular) and terpene biosynthesis, collectively contributing to the enhanced resistance to Spodoptera litura larvae feeding. Our findings provide new insights into the novel regulatory network by which the plant synchronously regulates trichome density for the physical and chemical defense against herbivory. Chloranthaceae is comprised of four extant genera (Chloranthus, Sarcandra, Hedyosmum, and Ascarina), totaling about 80 species, many of which have been widely used as herbal medicines for diverse medical purposes. Chloranthaceae plants represent a rich source of structurally interesting and diverse secondary metabolites, with sesquiterpenoids and diterpenoids being the predominant structural types. Lindenane sesquiterpenoids and their oligomers, chemotaxonomical markers of the family Chloranthaceae, have shown a wide spectrum of bioactivities, attracting significant attention from organic chemists and pharmacologists. Recent achievements also demonstrated the research value of two unique structural types in this plant family, sesquiterpenoid-monoterpenoid heterodimers and meroterpenoids. This review systematically summarizes 682 structurally characterized terpenoids from 22 Chloranthaceae plants and their key biological activities as well as the chemical synthesis of selected terpenoids. Botanical varieties of hemp differ in chemical composition, plant morphology, agronomy, and industrial suitability. Hemp is popular for cultivation for the production of cannabinoid oil, fiber production, biomass, etc. The fertilization process is one of the most important factors affecting the plant, both its condition and chemical composition. So far, research has been carried out proving that hemp is a valuable source of, among others: fatty acids, amino acids, acids, vitamins, numerous micro- and macroelements, and antioxidant compounds. In this experiment, it was decided to check the possibility of harvesting hemp panicles twice in one year. The purpose of this treatment is to use one plant to produce cannabidiol oil and grain. The main aim of the research was to determine bioactive compounds in hemp seeds and to determine whether the cultivation method affects their content and quantity. Based on the research conducted, it was observed that hemp can be grown in two directions at the same time and harvested twice because its health-promoting properties do not lose their value. It was found that regardless of whether hemp is grown solely for seeds or to obtain essential oils and then seeds, the type of fertilization does not affect the content of phenolic acids (e.g., syringic acid: 69.69–75.14 μg/100 g, vanillic acid: 1.47–1.63 μg/100 g). Based on the conducted research, it was found that essential oils can be obtained from one plant in the summer and seeds from Henola hemp cultivation in the autumn, because such a treatment does not affect the content of the discussed compounds. Subcellular compartmentalization is a crucial evolution characteristic of eukaryotic cells, providing inherent advantages for the construction of artificial biological systems to efficiently produce natural products. The establishment of an artificial protein transport system represents a pivotal initial step towards developing efficient artificial biological systems. Peroxisome has been demonstrated as a suitable subcellular compartment for the biosynthesis of terpenes in yeast. In this study, an artificial protein transporter ScPEX5* was firstly constructed by fusing the N-terminal sequence of PEX5 from S. cerevisiae and the C-terminal sequence of PEX5. Subsequently, an artificial protein transport system including the artificial signaling peptide YQSYY and its enhancing upstream 9 amino acid (9AA) residues along with ScPEX5* was demonstrated to exhibit orthogonality to the internal transport system of peroxisomes in S. cerevisiae. Furthermore, a library of 9AA residues was constructed and selected using high throughput pigment screening system to obtain an optimized signaling peptide (oPTS1*). Finally, the ScPEX5*-oPTS1* system was employed to construct yeast cell factories capable of producing the sesquiterpene α-humulene, resulting in an impressive α-humulene titer of 17.33 g/L and a productivity of 0.22 g/L/h achieved through fed-batch fermentation in a 5 L bioreactor. Celosia cristata (family Amaranthaceae), has significant medicinal value with rich phytochemical composition and is used traditionally across cultures, it treats various ailments due to its diverse bioactive compounds (sterols, tannins, saponins, and flavonoids). It demonstrates pharmacological capability: anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective and antiviral effects. The methanolic extracts of C. cristata flower contains alkaloids, tannins, carbohydrate, saponins, terpenoids, phenols, flavonoids, and steroids. These bioactive phytochemical compounds in methanolic extracts, supports its traditional medicinal use for various ailments. The abundant presence of phytochemicals in C. cristata flowers suggests their potential application in pharmaceutical industries for drug development. Profiled metabolites from 5-donor plants; Mucuna pruriens, L. (Mc), Cymbopogon nardus L. (C), Desmodium uncinatum Jacq. DC. (D), (Zea mays, L. (Mz) and New Rice for Africa 1 (NERICA 1) were Terpenoids and Phenols. NERICA 1 (R) is a cross of Oryza sativa and Oryza glaberrima. C produced 10 terpenoids + 1 ester, R and D each released 6 Terpenoids + 3 Phenols. Mc produced 2 Terpenoids + 4 Phenols and 5 Terpenoids + 4 Phenols were profiled from Mz. We adopted a completely randomised block design with 3 replicates and eight combinations of 3 leaf+ stem+root powders namely; Mc+D+C, Mz+Mc+C, RDC, Mc+D+C, Mz+R+Mc, Mz+D+Mc, R+Mc+C and Mz+R+C, mixed with 1.5 kg soil (15, 30 and 45 %, w/w). Controls had no powders. Mixtures were placed in plastic pots and 20 seeds of Biden pilosa L. were sown in each pot. Every 2 days, 200 ml of water was applied to all treatments for 60 days. Mz+Mc controlled B. pilosa and volunteer weeds relative to R+C and C+D. Weed germination and biomass reduced with increased powder doses. Volunteer monocot weeds were more inhibited than dicots. Fungi have been identified as a prolific source of structurally unique secondary metabolites, many of which display promising biological and pharmacological properties. This review provides an overview of the structures of new natural products derived from fungi and their biological activities along with the research strategies, which focuses on literature published in the representative journals in 2023. In this review, a total of 553 natural products including 219 polyketides, 145 terpenoids, 35 steroids, 106 alkaloids, and 48 peptides are presented. By summarising the latest findings, this review aims to provide a guide and inspire further innovation in the fields of the discovery of fungal natural products and pharmaceutical development. Associational effects, whereby plants influence the biotic interactions of their neighbors, are an important component of plant–insect interactions. Plant chemistry has been hypothesized to mediate these interactions. The role of chemistry in associational effects, however, has been unclear in part because the diversity of plant chemistry makes it difficult to tease apart the importance and roles of particular classes of compounds. We examined the chemical ecology of associational effects using backcross‐bred plants of the Solanum pennellii introgression lines. We used eight genotypes from the introgression line system to establish 14 unique neighborhood treatments that maximized differences in acyl sugars, proteinase inhibitor, and terpene chemical diversity. We found that the chemical traits of the neighboring plant, rather than simply the number of introgression lines within a neighborhood, influenced insect abundance on focal plants. Furthermore, within‐chemical class diversity had contrasting effects on herbivore and predator abundances, and depended on the frequency of neighboring plant chemotypes. Notably, we found insect mobility—flying versus crawling—played a key role in insect response to phytochemistry. We highlight that the frequency and chemical phenotype of plant neighbors underlie associational effects and suggest this may be an important mechanism in maintaining intraspecific phytochemical variation within plant populations. In this study, the efficacy of antioxidants found in pequi leaves was examined for safeguarding pequi biodiesel (EBP) against oxidation. The results reveal notable achievements. The antioxidant activity of AFP (a pequi leaf antioxidant additive) was assessed at various concentrations, demonstrating that as the concentration of AFP increases, the inhibition percentage significantly rises, reaching a remarkable inhibition of 99.12% at 100 mg L−1, with a calculated IC50 of 25.4 mg L−1. Additionally, the analysis of the AFP composition revealed the presence of terpenes and oxygenated compounds, which are well known for their antioxidant properties. Furthermore, the research emphasized the significance of thermogravimetric analysis in evaluating the thermal stability of additives, identifying critical temperatures at which AFP begins to protect biodiesel against oxidation (247.18°C) and the point at which its effectiveness may diminish (469.19°C). The EBP met quality standards regarding acidity, water content and density, but exhibited slightly lower oxidative stability compared with established standards. The correlation between the thermal degradation of biodiesel and the induction period highlighted the efficacy of AFP in mitigating thermal degradation. The use of natural substances in cancer treatment is gaining popularity due to their potentially lower side effects compared to radiation or chemotherapy. The development of these substances for the treatment of cancer has been successful. New technologies now incorporate nanoformulations for nanomedicines that are intended to increase the anticancer potential of drugs synthesized from phytocompounds. Essential oil from Catharanthus roseus plant was extracted and incorporated into IA-NE and assess anticancer activity of synthesized formulation against breast cancer. Study findings demonstrated that incensole acetate mediated nanoemulsion may successfully improve tumor parameters, oxidative stress enzyme levels and over expressed WWP1 level in DMBA induced rats. Blister beetles (Coleoptera: Meloidae) are currently subdivided into three subfamilies: Eleticinae (a basal group), Nemognathinae, and Meloinae. These are all characterized by the endogenous production of the defensive terpene cantharidin (CA), whereas the two most derived subfamilies show a hypermetamorphic larval development. Here, we provide novel draft genome assemblies of five species sampled across the three blister beetle subfamilies (Iselma pallidipennis, Stenodera caucasica, Zonitis immaculata, Lydus trimaculatus, and Mylabris variabilis) and performed a comparative analysis with other available Meloidae genomes and the closely‐related canthariphilous species (Pyrochroa serraticornis) to disclose adaptations at a molecular level. Our results highlighted the expansion and selection of genes potentially responsible for CA production and metabolism, as well as its mobilization and vesicular compartmentalization. Furthermore, we observed adaptive selection patterns and gain of genes devoted to epigenetic regulation, development, and morphogenesis, possibly related to hypermetamorphosis. We hypothesize that most genetic adaptations occurred to support both CA biosynthesis and hypermetamorphosis, two crucial aspects of Meloidae biology that likely contributed to their evolutionary success. Macrophorins H (4) and L (5), two rare HMG-conjugate macrophorins along with three known macrophorins (1-3), three DMOA-derived meroterpenoids (6-8) and two ergosterol derivates (9-10) were isolated from sterilized rice medium cultured Penicillium sp. NX-05-G-3. Their structures were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR. The cytotoxicities of all compounds were evaluated, and compounds 1 and 2 showed extensive cytotoxicity against human cancer cell lines Hela, SCC15, MDA-MB-453 and A549, with IC50 values ranging from 17.6 to 32.8 µM. Investigation of the fruits of Rhododendron molle G. Don led to the isolation of three new grayanane-type diterpenoids, rhodomolleins LIV-LVI (1-3). The structures and absolute configurations of new compounds were fully elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction, including HRESIMS, 1 D and 2 D NMR data. Compounds 1-3 were evaluated for analgesic activities utilizing an acetic acid-induced writhing test in mice. Compound 1 showed a significant antinociceptive effect with writhe inhibition rates of 72.9% and 100% at doses of 6 mg/kg and 20 mg/kg in mice, respectively. The binding mode of 1 to N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor (NSF, PDB: 6IP2) was explored by molecular docking, indicating the presence of hydrogen bond interactions which account for its analgesic activity. Tea is a recommended way of administration of prescribed cannabis plant products in Denmark. We aimed to investigate the cannabinoid and terpene doses contained in different teas. We analysed tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA), cannabidiol (CBD), cannabidiolic acid (CBDA), and terpene concentrations in three repeated preparations of each type of tea, and in plant material. In standard tea, concentrations of THC were [median (min‐max)] 9.5 (2.3–15), 19 (13–34), and 36 (26–57) μg/mL for products with a labelled content of 6.3%, 14%, and 22% total THC (THC + THCA), respectively. The CBD concentration in tea from a product labelled with 8% total CBD (CBD + CBDA) was 7.5 (1.9–10) μg/mL. Based on this, the recommended starting amount of 0.2 L of the different teas would contain between 0.46 and 11.3 mg THC, and 0.38 to 2.0 mg CBD. Adding creamer before, but not after boiling, increased the THC and CBD concentration 2.3–4.4 and 2.1‐fold, respectively. Terpenes were detected in plant material, but not in tea. The study elucidates THC and CBD doses in different teas, which may assist the clinician's choice of cannabis product. SUMMARY Presilphiperfolane‐type sesquiterpenes represent a unique group of atypical sesquiterpenoids characterized by their distinctive tricyclic structure. They have significant potential as lead compounds for pharmaceutical and agrochemical development. Herein, we utilized a transcriptomic approach to identify a terpene synthase (TPS) gene responsible for the biosynthesis of rare presilphiperfolane‐type sesquiterpenes in Inula lineariifolia, designated as IlTPS1. Through phylogenetic analysis, we have identified the evolutionary conservation of key motifs, including RR(x)8W, DDxxD, and NSE/DTE in IlTPS1, which are shared with other tricyclic sesquiterpene synthases in the TPS‐a subfamily of Asteraceae plants. Subsequent biochemical characterization of recombinant IlTPS1 revealed it to be a multiproduct enzyme responsible for the synthesis of various tricyclic sesquiterpene alcohols from farnesyl diphosphate (FPP), resulting in production of seven distinct sesquiterpenes. Mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometry identified presilphiperfolan‐8β‐ol and presilphiperfol‐7‐ene as predominant products. Furthermore, biological activity assays revealed that the products from IlTPS1 exhibited a potent antifungal activity against Nigrospora oryzae. Our study represents a significant advancement as it not only functionally identifies the first step enzyme in presilphiperfolane biosynthesis but also establishes the heterologous bioproduction of these unique sesquiterpenes. The transition to a sustainable future requires the use of waste‐free technologies for production. Potentially, additive technologies can be a promising approach for accessing circular economy due to the precise amount of feeding materials and the absence of molds. However, the initial feeding materials for additive approaches are often based on non–renewable hydrocarbon sources. This work focused on the use of polymers derived from terpene alcohols to develop a filament suitable for 3D printing. Initially, the vinylation of menthol using calcium carbide was optimized and scaled up, then a series of terpenyl–based vinyl ethers were obtained under optimal conditions. The cationic polymerization of vinyl ethers was also scaled up and resulted in 99 % yield of the polymers, which was subsequently subjected to hot extrusion. The initial terpenol was used as an additive to increase polymer flexibility. The addition of menthol (30 wt %) to polyvinyl menthol led to the suitable filament. Using the filament, a series of objects were 3D printed at 125 °C. The material demonstrated good sinterability and adhesion to glass and shrinkage comparable to that of commercial 3D printing filaments. The essential oils were isolated from Thymus serpyllum L. leaves, stem, flowers and whole plant using hydrodistillation technique and % yield was determined. The chemical constituents were studied using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry and Gas Chromatography-Flame Ionisation Detection. The analysis revealed the presence of 38 compounds in the essential oils obtained from different plant parts. Identification of compounds was achieved by detailed analysis of mass spectrum and retention indices. The major constituents of essential oil from the whole plant were thymol (35.25%), p-cymene (27.57%), thymol acetate (8.03%) and γ-terpinene (6.92%). In leaves they were thymol (45.59%), p-cymene (24.26%), thymol acetate (6.41%), and β-bisabolene (5.91%); whereas in flowers these were thymol (68.74%) and thymol acetate (7.40%) and in the stem, these were thymol (55.15%) and thymol acetate (8.01%). Specifically, it is the first report wherein essential oil constituents of T. serpyllum L. whole plant, leaves, flowers, and stems have been analyzed separately. Further, fundamental analysis of complex mass fragmentation patterns of terpenes and terpenoids using EI-MS has been achieved and the logical reason for the fragmentation pattern has been elaborated. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of copaiba oleoresin (CO) as a substitute for sodium lasalocid on the carcass characteristics and meat quality of feedlot lambs fed a high-concentrate diet. Twenty-four Pantaneiro lambs, aged 152 days and weighing an initial body weight of 21.2 ± 3.9 kg, were distributed in a randomised block design with three treatments and eight replications. The treatments correspond to the additive supplements: LAS (22.5 mg of sodium lasalocid/kg of diet); CO-0.5 (0.5 mL of CO/animal/day); CO-1.0 (1.0 mL of CO/animal/day). The doses of CO were administered to the animals orally with the aid of a graduated syringe. Lambs supplemented with LAS had higher hot carcass weight, cold carcass weight, cold carcass yield, and degree of fattening compared to CO-0.5, while CO-1.0 did not differ from LAS. It can be concluded that daily ingestion of CO up to 1.0 mL/lamb did not negatively affect carcass characteristics when compared to LAS supplementation. However, lower ingestion (0.5 mL/day) can reduce the carcass weight and carcass yield. Summary Stomatal closure during drought inhibits carbon uptake and may reduce a tree's defensive capacity. Limited carbon availability during drought may increase a tree's mortality risk, particularly if drought constrains trees' capacity to rapidly produce defenses during biotic attack. We parameterized a new model of conifer defense using physiological data on carbon reserves and chemical defenses before and after a simulated bark beetle attack in mature Pinus edulis under experimental drought. Attack was simulated using inoculations with a consistent bluestain fungus (Ophiostoma sp.) of Ips confusus, the main bark beetle colonizing this tree, to induce a defensive response. Trees with more carbon reserves produced more defenses but measured phloem carbon reserves only accounted for c. 23% of the induced defensive response. Our model predicted universal mortality if local reserves alone supported defense production, suggesting substantial remobilization and transport of stored resin or carbon reserves to the inoculation site. Our results show that de novo terpene synthesis represents only a fraction of the total measured phloem terpenes in P. edulis following fungal inoculation. Without direct attribution of phloem terpene concentrations to available carbon, many studies may be overestimating the scale and importance of de novo terpene synthesis in a tree's induced defense response. Tanacetum vulgare L., tansy, is a perennial plant with highly variable terpenoid composition, with mono‐ and sesquiterpenoids being the most abundant. The high diversity of terpenoids plays an important role in mediating ecological interactions. However, the distribution of terpenoids in different tissues and inducibility of terpenoids in these tissues via biotic stress are poorly understood. We investigated changes in terpenoid profiles and concentrations in different organs following treatment of roots with pipecolic acid (Pip), a non‐proteinogenic amino acid that triggers defence responses leading to induce systemic resistance (SAR) in plants. Tansy leaves and midribs contained mainly monoterpenoids, while coarse and fine roots contained mainly sesquiterpenoids. Rhizomes contained terpenoid profiles of both midribs and roots but also unique compounds. Treatment with Pip led to an increase in concentrations of mono‐ and sesquiterpenoids in all tissues except rhizomes. However, significantly more sesquiterpenoids was formed in root tissues in response to Pip treatment, compared to shoots. The metabolic atlas for terpenoids presented here shows that there is exceptionally strong differentiation of terpenoid patterns and terpenoid content in different tissues of tansy. This, together with differential inducibility by Pip, suggests that the chemical diversity of terpenoids may play an important role in tansy ecological interactions and defence against biotic stressors that feed on below‐ and aboveground organs. Terpenoids are a large class of natural secondary plant metabolites which are highly diverse in structure, formed from isoprene units (C-5), associated with a wide range of biological properties, including antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, anticancer, antimetastatic, antiangiogenesis, and apoptosis induction, and are considered for potential application in the food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and medical industries. In plants, terpenoids exert a variety of basic functions in growth and development. This review gives an overview, highlighting the current knowledge of terpenoids and recent advances in our understanding of the organization, regulation, and diversification of core and specialized terpenoid metabolic pathways and addressing the most important functions of volatile and non-volatile specialized terpenoid metabolites in plants. A comprehensive description of different aspects of plant-derived terpenoids as a sustainable source of bioactive compounds, their biosynthetic pathway, the several biological properties attributed to these secondary metabolites associated with health-promoting effects, and their potential industrial applications in several fields will be provided, and emerging and green extraction methods will also be discussed. In addition, future research perspectives within this framework will be highlighted. Literature selection was carried out using the National Library of Medicine, PubMed, and international reference data for the period from 2010 to 2024 using the keyword "terpenoids". A total of 177,633 published papers were found, of which 196 original and review papers were included in this review according to the criteria of their scientific reliability, their completeness, and their relevance to the theme considered. Citri Exocarpium Rubrum black tea (CER tea) is a novel blend tea infusion combining tea and CER. Due to its potential health benefits and unique flavor, it has gained popularity among consumers. Nevertheless, the aroma characteristics and key odorants of it remain to be distinguished and cognized. The HS‐SPME and GC/MS techniques were employed to analyze the alterations in volatile constituents throughout the critical stages of CER tea production. A total of 200 chemical compounds exhibited notable disparities during the processing procedures. Among them, terpenes and esters were the most abundant compounds in CER tea, which might be the key material basis for the aroma quality of CER tea. It is worth noting that 124 metabolites were significantly increased in the kneading stage and drying stage, including benzeneacet aldehyde, trans‐nerolidol, and D‐limonene, with contained floral and fruity odors, which might be closely related to the aroma of CER tea. Here, we report a facile plasma-based method for rapid fabrication of thin (<250 nm) polymer coatings from a single environmentally friendly precursor, where wrinkle formation and fractal pattern development are controlled solely by varying the deposition time from 3 s to 60 s. We propose a mechanism behind the observed in situ development of wrinkles in plasma, as well as demonstrate how introducing specific topographical features on the surface of the substrata can result int the formation of even more complex, ordered wrinkle patterns arising from the non-uniformity of plasma when in contact with structured surfaces. Thus-fabricated wrinkled surfaces show good adhesion to substrate and an antifouling activity that is not observed in the equivalent smooth coatings and hence is attributed to the specific pattern of wrinkles. Lead affects photosynthesis and growth and has serious toxic effects on plants. Here, the differential expressed proteins (DEPs) in D. huoshanense were investigated under different applications of lead acetate solutions. Using label-free quantitative proteomics methods, more than 12,000 peptides and 2,449 proteins were identified. GO and KEGG functional annotations show that these differential proteins mainly participate in carbohydrate metabolism, energy metabolism, amino acid metabolism, translation, protein folding, sorting, and degradation, as well as oxidation and reduction processes. A total of 636 DEPs were identified, and lead could induce the expression of most proteins. KEGG enrichment analysis suggested that proteins involved in processes such as homologous recombination, vitamin B6 metabolism, flavonoid biosynthesis, cellular component organisation or biogenesis, and biological regulation were significantly enriched. Nearly 40 proteins are involved in DNA replication and repair, RNA synthesis, transport, and splicing. The effect of lead stress on D. huoshanense may be achieved through photosynthesis, oxidative phosphorylation, and the production of excess antioxidant substances. The expression of 9 photosynthesis-related proteins and 12 oxidative phosphorylation-related proteins was up-regulated after lead stress. Furthermore, a total of 3 SOD, 12 POD, 3 CAT, and 7 ascorbate-related metabolic enzymes were identified. Under lead stress, almost all key enzymes involved in the synthesis of antioxidant substances are up-regulated, which may facilitate the scavenging of oxygen-free radical scavenging. The expression levels of some key enzymes involved in sugar and glycoside synthesis, the phenylpropanoid synthesis pathway, and the terpene synthesis pathway also increased. More than 30 proteins involved in heavy metal transport were also identified. Expression profiling revealed a significant rise in the expression of the ABC-type multidrug resistance transporter, copper chaperone, and P-type ATPase with exposure to lead stress. The effect of oven drying (OD) at 50±5°C, sun drying (SD), and fresh leaves (control) of seven selected herbs used in herbal preparation as herbal baths were evaluated. Herbal baths (HB) involve mixing herbs into water and boiling them or simply immersing them in the mixture during a regular bath. The herbs selected were leaves of torch ginger, greater galangal, pandan, citronella grass, henna, betel leaves, and kaffir lime leaves and fruits. The herbs were planted in a plot at the Institute of Bioscience, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia. Physical changes such as HB herbs' colour, aroma, and chemical composition were evaluated. The hydro distillation method was used for the extraction process of HB herbs, where it produced essential oils (EO), essential water (EW), and boiling water (BW), and their chemical composition was determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. As a result, the OD herbs possessed brighter and more attractive colours compared to the SD method, which was dull and pale. The colour of EO was yellow, colourless for EW, and reddish for BW. Additionally, OD herbs possessed 80% and only 50% of the scent strength of the SD herbs from extracting fresh herbs. The fresh and dried HB herbs contained chemical constituents mostly from the terpene group. Halophila stipulacea (Forsskål and Niebuhr) Ascherson is a small marine seagrass that belongs to the Hydrocharitaceae family. It is native to the Red Sea, Persian Gulf, and Indian Ocean and has successfully invaded the Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas. This article summarizes the pharmacological activities and phytochemical content of H. stipulacea, along with its botanical and ecological characteristics. Studies have shown that H. stipulacea is rich in polyphenols and terpenoids. Additionally, it is rich in proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates, contributing to its nutritional value. Several biological activities are reported by this plant, including antimicrobial, antioxidant, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-metabolic disorders, and anti-osteoclastogenic activities. Simple Summary: In this study, we screened a MYB transcription factor controlling the synthesis of linanol in Freesia hybrida. This transcription factor is functionally conservative and can play a role in regulating the expression of the linanol synthase gene in the model plant Arabidopsis, but the interaction with another bHLH type transcription factor eventually leads to different regulatory effects of the MYB regulator in Freesia hybrida and Arabidopsis. Acting as the most abundant and widely distributed volatile secondary metabolites in plants, terpenoids play crucial roles in diverse physiological regulations and metabolic processes. Terpene synthases play a decisive role in determining the composition and diversity of terpenoids. Though the regulation of terpene synthases has been extensively investigated across various plant species, limited studies have focused on the upstream transcriptional regulation of terpene synthases. In this study, we have identified linalool as the predominant volatile compound that is released gradually from Freesia hybrida flowers throughout flower blooming. In the context of the transcriptome, a typical MYB transcription factor, FhMYB108, was screened based on homologous gene comparison. FhMYB108 is capable of regulating the expression of FhTPS1, and both their expression levels showed gradual increase during flower opening. Moreover, FhMYB108 exerts a stimulatory effect on the transcription of Arabidopsis thaliana AtTPS14, while no significant increase in AtTPS14 expression is observed upon the stabilization of FhMYB108 in A. thaliana. The highly expressed AtMYC2 in A. thaliana could interact with FhMYB108 to suppress the activation of AtTPS14 by FhMYB108. The present study not only elucidates the regulatory mechanism underlying linalool synthesis but also discovers the synergistic effect of MYB and bHLH transcription factors in governing the biosynthesis of volatile terpenoids. In recent years, the frequency of wildfires worldwide has been gradually increasing, posing significant threats to global ecosystems and human society. Given that plants serve as the primary fuel in natural environments, accurately assessing the flammability of plants is crucial for wildfire management and fire ecology studies. Plant flammability is a multifaceted trait influenced by various physiological, physical, and chemical characteristics of plants. Currently, there is no universally accepted standard for quantifying plant flammability. By analyzing published research over the past few decades, this study found that 17.27% of studies assessed plant flammability by measuring flammability-related characteristics, such as moisture content, leaf size, bark thickness, oil content, and terpene content; a total of 34.55% of studies assessed plant flammability through burning experiments by measuring burning parameters, such as ignition time, duration of combustion, and flame spread rate. The remaining studies, approximately 50%, used a combination of burning experiments and flammability-related characteristic measurement to assess plant flammability. This study outlined the current status of plant flammability measurements, discussed the merits of each measurement method, and proposed suggestions for enhancing the assessment of plant flammability, with the aim of contributing to the standardization of plant flammability measurements. ABSTRACT The aroma of fine matured spirits is typically complex, resulting from numerous reactions occurring during the production process and some developing during maturation in oak casks. The refreshing sensation brought by mint notes was often expected, even after years of maturation. The main challenge lies in achieving an aromatic balance characterised by the seamless integration of woody aromas while maintaining the initial distillate's freshness. The present study examines the sensory effects associated with the interactions between wood, mint and cold sensations in spirits. Nine spirit model solutions were prepared, representing different combinations of terpene ketones (imparting mint aroma) and wood compounds, each at three concentration levels. The quantitative composition of mint compounds simulated varying degrees of mintiness in the distillate (low, medium and high), while the concentrations of wood compounds mimicked three maturation periods (short, intermediate and long term) in wooden casks. Samples were sensorily analysed by discriminative (triangle test) and rate‐all‐that‐apply (RATA) methodologies. An increase in woody intensity was notably perceived in samples with a low‐mint profile and containing wood compounds associated with medium and long‐term maturation. However, no significant sensory differences were observed in mint and cold perception between model solutions regardless of the simulated maturation conditions, indicating a limited influence of the studied wood compounds on the sensation of freshness in spirits due to competitive perceptual interactions with terpene ketones. Plant JASMONATE ZIM‐DOMAIN (JAZ) genes play crucial roles in regulating the biosynthesis of specialized metabolites and stressful responses. However, understanding of JAZs controlling these biological processes lags due to numerous JAZ copies. Here, we found that two leaf‐specific CwJAZ4/9 genes from Curcuma wenyujin are strongly induced by methyl‐jasmonate (MeJA) and negatively correlated with terpenoid biosynthesis. Yeast two‐hybrid, luciferase complementation imaging and in vitro pull‐down assays confirmed that CwJAZ4/9 proteins interact with CwMYC2 to form the CwJAZ4/9‐CwMYC2 regulatory cascade. Furthermore, transgenic hairy roots showed that CwJAZ4/9 acts as repressors of MeJA‐induced terpenoid biosynthesis by inhibiting the terpenoid pathway and jasmonate response, thus reducing terpenoid accumulation. In addition, we revealed that CwJAZ4/9 decreases salt sensitivity and sustains the growth of hairy roots under salt stress by suppressing the salt‐mediated jasmonate responses. Transcriptome analysis for MeJA‐mediated transgenic hairy root lines further confirmed that CwJAZ4/9 negatively regulates the terpenoid pathway genes and massively alters the expression of genes related to salt stress signaling and responses, and crosstalks of multiple phytohormones. Altogether, our results establish a genetic framework to understand how CwJAZ4/9 inhibits terpenoid biosynthesis and confers salt tolerance, which provides a potential strategy for producing high‐value pharmaceutical terpenoids and improving resistant C. wenyujin varieties by a genetic approach. Chardonnay is one of the most popular white grape wine varieties in the world, but this wine lacks typical aroma, considered a sensory defect. Our research group identified a Chardonnay bud sport with typical muscat characteristics. The goal of this work was to discover the key candidate genes related to muscat characteristics in this Chardonnay bud sport to reveal the mechanism of muscat formation and guide molecular design breeding. To this end, HS−SPME−GC−MS and RNA−Seq were used to analyze volatile organic compounds and the differentially expressed genes in Chardonnay and its aromatic bud sport. Forty-nine volatiles were identified as potential biomarkers, which included mainly aldehydes and terpenes. Geraniol, linalool, and phenylacetaldehyde were identified as the main aroma components of the mutant. The GO, KEGG, GSEA, and correlation analysis revealed HMGR, TPS1, TPS2, TPS5, novel.939, and CYP450 as key genes for terpene synthesis. MAO1 and MAO2 were significantly downregulated, but there was an increased content of phenylacetaldehyde. These key candidate genes provide a reference for the development of functional markers for muscat varieties and also provide insight into the formation mechanism of muscat aroma. Research studies on plant secondary metabolites have increased over the last decades as a consequence of the growing consumer demand for natural products in pharmaceutics and therapeutics, as well as in perfumery and cosmetics. In this perspective, many Mediterranean plant species could be an appreciated source of bioactive compounds with pharmacological and health-promoting properties, including antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor ones. Calendula officinalis and Foeniculum vulgare are commercially important plants of the Mediterranean flora, with great therapeutic use in the treatment of many disorders since ancient times, and are now listed in several world pharmacopoeias and drug agencies. The present review offers an overview of the main phytochemicals, phenols, terpenes, and alkaloids, biosynthesized in C. officinalis and F. vulgare, both species endemic to the Mediterranean region. Further, all current knowledge and scientific data on taxonomic classification, botanical description, traditional uses, pharmacological studies, and potential toxicity of both species were reported. The principal aim of this review is to point out the prospective use of C. officinalis and F. vulgare as valuable reservoirs of beneficial plant-derived products with interesting biological properties, also providing suggestions and future challenges for the full exploitation of these two Mediterranean species for human life improvement. The work reports a novel nanophytosomal gel encapsulating Alpinia galanga (L.) Willd leaf essential oil to treat periodontal infections. Alpinia oil-loaded nanophytosomes (ANPs) were formulated by lipid layer hydration technique and were evaluated by FESEM, cryo-TEM, loading efficiency, zeta potential, particle size, release profile etc. Selected ANPs-loaded gel (ANPsG) was evaluated by both in vitro and in vivo methods. Selected ANPs were spherical, unilamellar, 49.32 ± 2.1 nm size, 0.45 PDI, −46.7 ± 0.8 mV zeta potential, 9.8 ± 0.5% (w/w) loading, 86.4 ± 3.02% (w/w) loading efficiency with sustained release profile. ANPsG showed good spreadability (6.8 ± 0.3 gm.cm/sec), extrudability (79.33 ± 1.5%), viscosity (36522 ± 0.82 cps), mucoadhesive strength (44.56 ± 3.5 gf) with sustained ex vivo release tendency. Satisfied ZOI and MIC was observed for ANPsG against periodontal bacteria vs. standard/control. ANPsG efficiently treated infection in ligature induced periodontitis model. Key pharmacokinetic parameters like AUC, MRT, Vd were enhanced for ANPsG. ANPsG may be investigated for futuristic clinical studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The forest industry produces several low-value by-products, such as bark, sawdust, limbs, and leaves, that are not ultimately disposed of and remain in the forests and sawmill facilities. Among these by-products are leaves, which contain not only cellulose fibers and lignin but also essential oils such as terpenes. These are biosynthesized in a similar way as cis-1,4-polyisoprene. In this context, this work evaluates the use of screened and unscreened dried Eucalyptus nitens leaves in natural rubber. Among the most relevant results of this work is a significant increase in mechanical properties, such as tensile strength and elongation at break, reaching values of 9.45 MPa and 649% of tensile strength and elongation at break, respectively, for a sample of natural rubber containing sieved dried leaves of Eucalyptus nitens. In addition, it is observed that the content of this vegetable filler allows for inhibiting the antibacterial effect of vulcanized rubber against several bacteria, such as Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli K 12, Escherichia coli FT 17 and Pseudomonas fluorescens. These results are promising because they not only add value to a by-product of the forestry industry, improving the mechanical properties of natural rubber from a sustainable approach but also increase the affinity of rubber with bacterial microorganisms that may play a role in certain ecosystems. 1. The extensive use of antimicrobials in poultry production may contribute to the emergence of resistant bacteria. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence and resistance of different E. coli strains isolated from raw chicken meat and to investigate the possibility to use Lebanese native oregano essential oils as alternatives. 2. In total, 250 chickens from Lebanese markets were examined for the presence of E. coli. Isolates were then screened for susceptibility using 19 antibiotics and two essential oils extracted from oregano plants. 3. Of the 250 chickens tested, 80% were contaminated with E. coli. Main resistance was seen against amoxycillin, ampicillin, penicillin, tetracycline, tylosin, streptomycin and erythromycin. The highest rate of sensitivity was found in 86.1% of strains to Amoxycillin/Clavulanic acid, 80.09% to Tilmicosin. Both essential oils from Origanum syriacum (98%) and O. ehrenbergii (97.3%) showed promising potential in inhibiting the growth of the tested bacteria. Oil from O. syriacum exhibited superior efficacy against 200 E. coli strains, inhibiting 46.1% at 200 mg/l and all at 400 mg/l, while O. ehrenbergii oil showed slightly lower inhibition, affecting 41.6% at 200 mg/l and all at 400 mg/l. Four new tirucallane-type triterpenoids, polystanins H–K (1–4), were obtained from the stems and leaves of Aphanamixis polystachya. Their structures were elucidated by analysis of the spectroscopic data and comparison with literature data. Compounds 1 and 2 showed week inhibitory effects against NO production in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. Phytochemical investigation on the fruiting bodies of the medicinal fungus Ganoderma lingzhi led to the isolation of a new norsteroid, namely ganonorsterone A (1), together with one known steroid, cyathisterol (2). The structure and absolute configuration of compound 1 were assigned by extensive analysis of MS, NMR data, and quantum-chemical calculations including electronic circular dichroism (ECD) and calculated 13C NMR-DP4+ analysis.
