Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and aggressive form of brain cancer in adults, characterized by extensive growth, a high recurrence rate, and resistance to treatment. Growing research interest is focusing on the biological roles of natural compounds due to their potential beneficial effects on health. Our research aimed to investigate the effects of lavender essential oil (LEO) on a GBM cell model. Chemical characterization using GC-MS analysis indicated that LEO contains several terpenes, compounds that have been found to exhibit anticancer properties by interfering with key cancer-related pathways in several cancer models. By means of cell biology assays, we demonstrated that LEO impairs cell proliferation and migration, and also reduces oxidative stress in U87 cells. We further observed that Terpinen-4-ol, contained in LEO, was capable of reproducing the effects of the oil on GBM cells. Vaccination is a crucial tool for the primary prevention of infectious diseases. Thanks to the widespread of vaccinations it has been possible to eradicate very serious diseases. Unfortunately, vaccination coverage in Italy has been decreasing starting from 2015, getting worse during COVID-19. Nowadays, very few Italian regions have achieved the goal of 95% coverage. In this study we present a vaccination recovery model proposed by Local Health Department "Napoli 3 Sud" in Campania. An evaluation of the vaccination coverage from January 2019 to December 2021 of the 13 Districts of the Local Health Department "Napoli 3 Sud" in Campania was carried out, by extraction from the regional computerized platform "GE.VA" Regional Vaccine Registry and from Sinfonia Vaccini Soresa platform. Vaccination coverage of the Local Health Department "Napoli 3 Sud" for the cohorts of newborns in the year 2019–2021 improved to an average of 96.29% for Pneumococco, of 84.78% for Meningococcal, of 94.3% for Measles, Mumps and Rubella, 91.4% for chickenpox. This study highlights how the collaboration between family pediatricians and the Local Health Department, with the help of a regional computerized platform GE.VA, is effective in improving vaccination coverage. The transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) and multiomics could enhance the diagnostic and prognostic capabilities of liquid biopsy (LB) for lung cancer (LC). Despite advances, the transition from tissue biopsies to more sophisticated, non‐invasive methods like LB has been impeded by challenges such as the heterogeneity of biomarkers and the low concentration of tumour‐related analytes. The advent of multiomics – enabled by deep learning algorithms – offers a solution by allowing the simultaneous analysis of various analytes across multiple biological fluids, presenting a paradigm shift in cancer diagnostics. Through multi‐marker, multi‐analyte and multi‐source approaches, this review showcases how AI and multiomics are identifying clinically valuable biomarker combinations that correlate with patients' health statuses. However, the path towards clinical implementation is fraught with challenges, including study reproducibility and lack of methodological standardization, thus necessitating urgent solutions to solve these common issues. Background The aim of this meta-analysis was to synthesize the available evidence from the literature on the efficacy and safety of integrase inhibitor-based two drug regimens compared to triple drug regimens in virosuppressed people living with HIV (PLWH) in a long-term follow-up (at 96 weeks). Materials and Methods A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and adverse drug reactions leading to discontinuation of two drug regimens compared to triple drug regimens in virosuppressed PLWH patients at 96 weeks of follow-up. We searched MEDLINE, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Library up to March 15, 2024, and studies were selected for eligibility based on predefined criteria. Data were extracted independently by two reviewers, and risk ratios (RRs) were calculated as the measure of association between therapy and incidence of events. Results Six studies were included in the analysis, both clinical trials and observational studies. The two drug regimens included cabotegravir/rilpivirine, dolutegravir/lamivudine, and dolutegravir/rilpivirine. No significant differences were observed in treatment failure (RR, 0.77; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.53–1.13; P=0.182), virological failure (RR, 0.79; 95% CI, 0.48–1.29; P=0.341), adverse drug reactions leading to discontinuation (RR, 1.74; 95% CI, 0.73–4.17; P=0.215), or appearance of mutation (RR, 2.48; 95% CI, 0.33–18.68; P=0.379) between two drug regimen and triple drug regimen groups at 96 weeks of follow up. Conclusion The meta-analysis provide an overview of the available evidence and supports the use of two drug regimens as an option for simplifying treatment and improving clinical outcomes in virosuppressed PLWH. Craniosynostoses (CRS) are caused by the premature fusion of one or more cranial sutures, with isolated nonsyndromic CRS accounting for most of the clinical manifestations. Such premature suture fusion impacts both skull and brain morphology and involves regions far beyond the immediate area of fusion. The combined use of different neuroimaging tools allows for an accurate depiction of the most prominent clinical–radiological features in nonsyndromic CRS but can also contribute to a deeper investigation of more subtle alterations in the underlying nervous tissue organization that may impact normal brain development. This review paper aims to provide a comprehensive framework for a better understanding of the present and future potential applications of neuroimaging techniques for evaluating nonsyndromic CRS, highlighting strategies for optimizing their use in clinical practice and offering an overview of the most relevant technological advancements in terms of diagnostic performance, radiation exposure, and cost-effectiveness. An isostructural series of four annulated actinocene complexes, M(hdcCOT)2 (M = Th, U, Np, Pu), is reported. The syntheses proceed through a trivalent starting material when M = U, Np, Pu with subsequent oxidation or, in the case of M = Th, directly from ThCl4(DME)2. X-ray crystallography shows that each actinocene has C2h molecular point symmetry in the solid state, with the metal atoms symmetrically bonded to two 10π-aromatic [8]annulene dianion rings. UV-Vis spectroscopy shows bands that were assigned as ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) transitions with the aid of time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) calculations. Compared to the M(COT)2 analogs, the LMCT transitions for M(hdcCOT)2 are red-shifted by ∼0.1 eV for all four metals. These actinocenes may be readily synthesized and crystallized even on the milligram scale (≤1 mg of metal ion content), which will enable future studies of the organometallic chemistry of transplutonium elements. Purpose: Understanding factors influencing clinical biomarkers is important for the prevention of chronic disease. This study aimed to estimate transitions of biomarker status from childhood to adolescence and to identify determinants of biomarker status in early life in a prospective children cohort. Subjects and methods: Our sample comprised 1295 children participating in the baseline (2007/08) and second follow-up examination (2013/14) of the multi-center IDEFICS (Identification and prevention of Dietary- and lifestyle-induced health EFfects In Children and infantS)/I.Family study. Clinical blood biomarkers including glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-cholesterol), triglycerides, C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin 6, ferritin, leptin and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) were repeatedly measured in 2007/2008 (age range: 3.0 to <10.0 years) and in 2013/2014. Latent transition analysis was used to estimate biomarker statuses and transition probabilities; determinants of biomarker status were estimated using mixed-effects models. Results: Four distinct biomarker statuses were identified: (1) "normal" (all biomarkers low/medium; except HDL-cholesterol; reference), (2) "low leptin/IGF-1/HbA1c", (3) "dyslipidemia/high leptin" and (4) "inflammation". Children classified as "low leptin/IGF-1/HbA1c" at baseline were most likely to stay in this status (89.8%) or to change to the "normal" status (10%) during follow-up. Compared to "normal" children, children classified as "low leptin/IGF-1/HbA1c" were less likely to have a family history of diabetes (0.26 [0.08;0.86]; odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval) or hypertension (0.53 [0.29;0.99]) and the children (0.32 [0.27;0.38]) as well as their mothers (0.93 [0.88;0.98]) had a lower BMI. Children from families with low/medium education had a 55% [9%-119%] higher risk of being in the "dyslipidemia/high leptin" and 49% [1%-121%] higher risk of being in the "inflammation" status as compared to children in the "normal" status. Membership in a sports club reduced the latter risks by 28% [2%-47%] and 40% [17%-56%], respectively. Conclusions: European children showed distinct phenotypes for the investigated biomarkers. Especially parental characteristics like a family history of diabetes or hypertension, a high maternal BMI, or low/medium education were associated with unfavorable biomarker status in children. Background: In children and adults with sickle-cell disease (SCD), acute ischemic stroke (AIS) associated with a vaso-occlusive crisis is a leading cause of physical and cognitive disability and death. However, neurological guidelines for acute management of AIS fail to directly address this issue. We here report a case of a man with severe cerebrovascular complications and illustrate the current evidence on the management of SCD-related AIS. Case report: A 46-year-old man suffering from SCD and poorly controlled diabetes was admitted to the emergency room complaining of the onset, more than 10 h before, of headache, paresthesia, and right hemianopia. The brain Angio-CT study revealed bilateral occlusion of the internal carotids and the posterior cerebral arteries, with remarkable compensatory hypertrophy of other vessels. The laboratory exams confirmed severe anemia with high hemoglobin-S levels (50%) and severe dehydration. IV hydration was prompted, along with erythrocyte apheresis and antiplatelet therapy. The patient successfully underwent these treatments, and the neurological deficits significantly improved. Nonetheless, due to the time window, he could not be treated with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT). Discussion: AIS is a time-sensitive condition. In SCD, vaso-occlusive phenomena are the leading cause of AIS, but "classical" vascular risk factors can also play a role. Since current guidelines on the acute management of SCD complications are mainly focused on the hematological– rather than neurological– aspects, it is not clear whether these patients should undergo IVT before or after fluid resuscitation and erythrocyte apheresis. Prematurity can disrupt the psychological transition to parenthood, with the unfamiliar environment of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) often exacerbating parental concerns about their baby's health and survival. This study explores factors influencing parental coping mechanisms during their NICU stay, focusing on gender differences and parental perceptions of staff support. Sixteen Italian parents of preterm infants (born before 37 weeks of gestation and hospitalized for at least 10 days) participated in remote narrative interviews. Thematic analysis revealed key differences in the emotional experiences and care participation between mothers and fathers, shaped by traditional Italian gender norms and further impacted by COVID-19 restrictions limiting fathers' access to the NICU. Additionally, parents who were more involved in their infant's recovery through interactions with doctors reported higher levels of personal well-being. These findings highlight the importance of fostering parent-staff communication and support, particularly during times of crisis, to promote positive outcomes in the parent-infant relationship and enhance parental well-being. In higher education, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) statements are texts written by faculty members which explain their commitments to improving education for marginalized students. Requesting, reviewing, and acting upon DEI statements is just one practice, among others, which higher education institutions can use to transform individual and institutional practices, towards more just ends. However, DEI statements can become extensions of the curriculum vitae rather than opportunities for deeper critical reflection. In this study, we examine a large R1 university in the Southwestern US which required its faculty to submit written reflections about their contributions to diversity. We collected 22 statements from faculty in two disciplines: life sciences and quantitative sciences. Drawing on techniques from critical discourse analysis, we analyzed these statements to understand what meanings are expressed and what factors constrain or support faculty in writing more critical reflections. Results demonstrate that most faculty’s statements: (a) do not clearly explicate DEI problems or causes; (b) over represent remedies to problems; and (c) locate problems within or between individuals, rather than within systems. We hypothesize that this is due (in part) to influence of major funding sources and broader neoliberal discourses about knowing, learning, and success in higher education. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: In recent decades the demand for freshwater has drastically increased as a consequence of population growth, economic development, climate change and pollution. Therefore, any strategy for wastewater treatment can play a role in alleviating the pressure on freshwater sources. RESULTS: In the present study an autochthonous microalgal pool (MP), isolated from a constructed wetland, was proposed as an alternative to the secondary treatment of an urban wastewater treatment system. The MP removal efficacy was compared to those obtained using Chlorella vulgaris and Scenedesmus quadricauda, against E. coli. Results exhibited a comparable removal efficacy and after 2 days, in samples inoculated with E. coli at lower density, S. quadricauda and C. vulgaris induced a decrease of 2.0 units Log and the autochthonous MP of 1.8 units Log, whereas in samples with E. coli at higher density the bacteria were reduced 2.8, 3.4 and 2.0 units Log by S. quadricauda, C. vulgaris and the autochthonous MP, respectively. Moreover, the identification of microalgal strains isolated from the MP revealed the presence of Klebsormidium sp. K39, C. vulgaris, Tetradesmus obliquus and S. quadricauda. Although the MP composition remained quite constant, at the end of the treatment, a different distribution among the microalgal species was observed with Klebsormidium sp. K39 found as dominant. CONCLUSION: The microalgal‐based wastewater treatment appears as a valuable alternative, although further investigations, based on 'omics' approaches, could be applied to better explore any fluctuation within the MP species composition in an in situ trial. © 2024 The Author(s). The elastic modulus evolution of cementitious materials since early ages can be experimentally measured with the EMM-ARM (Elastic Modulus Measurement through Ambient Response Method) test. This methodology has been extensively validated, but its original implementation relied on costly proprietary platforms. A minimalist, open-source test system may provide a benchmark that sets minimum requirements and performance to enable the development of tailor-made systems. This work aimed to develop, characterise, and validate such system, composed of data-acquisition hardware and post-processing software. Characterisation results showed the system had a spectral noise floor of 2.1 × 10−8 g2/Hz, an RMS noise of 0.003 g, a sampling frequency variability of ± 0.006%, and an average power consumption of 41.53 mAh. Compared to an original EMM-ARM system, validation results indicated the proposed system had an absolute error lower than 0.3% from 1 day of testing onwards, with a similar coefficient of variation of 1.2%. Background: Insulin resistance (IR) and serum uric acid (SUA) are closely interconnected: SUA contributes to adversely affects the insulin signaling pathway and contributes to IR, while IR is a known predictor for the development of hyperuricemia. The triglyceride (TG) to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio has been proposed as an easily obtainable marker for IR. This research aimed to investigate the interaction between IR and glomerular filtration rate (GFR)-adjusted uricemia (SUA/GFR ratio) in determining CV risk in a large population cohort study. Methods: Data from 18,694 subjects were analyzed from Uric acid Right foR heArt Healt (URRAH) database. The study evaluated the association between TG/HDL-C ratio and SUA/GFR ratio, as well as their impact on the development of outcomes during the follow-up study period. The primary endpoint was CV mortality. Results: After a mean follow-up of 124 ± 64 months, 2,665 (14.2%) CV deaths occurred. The incidence of fatal and non-fatal CV events increased in parallel with the increase of TG/HDL-C quintiles. TG/HDL-C ratio showed a positive association with increasing of SUA/GFR ratio, even in non-diabetic patients. Multivariate analysis showed that the TG/HDL-C ratio increases the mortality risk even after adjustment for potential confounding factors. Finally, IR and GFR-adjusted hyperuricemia showed an additive effect on CV mortality. Conclusions: Both IR and SUA/GFR ratio independently predict CV mortality, regardless of age, gender, BMI, diabetes, hypertension and statin use. The joint effect of the TG/HDL-C ratio and the elevated SUA/GFR ratio was greater than the presence of each single risk factor on CV mortality. To obtain sustainable food packaging materials, alternatives to traditional ones must be researched. In this work, two different kinds of zeolites, i.e., a natural one, Clinoptilolite, and a synthetic one, Zeolite Na-X, were mixed with thermoplastic polyurethane for the fabrication of composites. Composite films were prepared via a hot mixing stage and then by means of a hot compression molding process. Several TPU/zeolite composites were produced with a filler concentration ranging from 5% to 10%wt. Finally, the obtained films were characterized by Fourier Transform Spectroscopy (FT-IR, ATR), thermal analysis (TGA and DSC), frequency sweep test, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), mechanical tensile test and oxygen permeability test. For both fillers and at all concentrations, the inclusion of zeolites significantly influenced the analyzed properties. In the TPU/zeolite composites, an overall enhancement was observed compared to the neat polymer, attributed to improved processability, superior barrier properties and the potential to create active materials by loading zeolite combined with various chemicals for specific applications. This work introduces an experimental approach focused on investigating fatigue-driven debonding in a composite structure designed to simulate the complexity of a typical aeronautical panel. The debonding is placed between the skin and the stringer, and the structure has been tested under fatigue compression conditions. Using lock-in thermography, the damage evolution during fatigue cycles has been detailed monitored. Indeed, thermographic phase maps obtained after a predetermined number of cycles during the whole fatigue test have been graphically analysed and have allowed us to obtain an accurate measurement of the delaminated area extent and shape. Our approach advances the understanding of damage propagation in composite materials, contributing to the development of damage-tolerant structural designs and supplying valuable data to validate numerical fatigue prediction models. Furthermore, the use of non-destructive testing techniques, such as thermography, has been found crucial for accurately quantifying the extent and the shape of the debonding after a given number of fatigue cycles. Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by a slow, short-stepping, shuffling gait pattern caused by a combination of motor control limitations due to a reduction in dopaminergic neurons. Gait disorders are indicators of global health, cognitive status, and risk of falls and increase with disease progression. Therefore, the use of quantitative information on the gait mechanisms of PD patients is a promising approach, particularly for monitoring gait disorders and potentially informing therapeutic interventions, though it is not yet a well-established tool for early diagnosis or direct assessment of disease progression. Over the years, many studies have investigated the spatiotemporal parameters that are altered in the PD gait pattern, while kinematic and kinetic gait parameters are more limited. A scoping review was performed according to the PRISMA guidelines. The Scopus and PubMed databases were searched between 1999 and 2023. A total of 29 articles were included that reported gait changes in PD patients under different gait conditions: single free walking, sequential motor task, and dual task. The main findings of our review highlighted the use of optoelectronic systems for recording kinematic parameters and force plates for measuring kinetic parameters, due to their high accuracy. Most gait analyses in PD patients have been conducted at self-selected walking speeds to capture natural movement, although studies have also examined gait under various conditions. The results of our review indicated that PD patients experience alterations in the range of motion of the hip, knee, and ankle joints, as well as a reduction in the power generated/absorbed and the extensor/flexor moments. [Display omitted] Here we demonstrate for the first time that an antibody-gold nanoparticles (AuNPs)–polymer conjugate thin-film biosensor can easily be fabricated to selectively capture Tau protein. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are employed as sensing elements, thus capitalizing on their propensity to undergo assembly or disassembly in response to the adsorption or conjugation of various biomolecules on their surface, thereby forming robust interactions with the target analyte. We show that the Tau protein in its different aggregation phases can be detected, by restricting the reaction area on the solid thin polymer film and thus reducing the diffusion effects usually encountered in immunosensors. A limit of detection (LOD) of 460 pg/mL was reached, demonstrating a great potential for detecting Tau in aggregation states. The study investigates the impact of design parameters on the torsional stress behaviour of nickel-titanium (NiTi) rotary endodontic instruments, focusing on optimising the structural performance under clinically relevant loading conditions. Using finite element analysis (FEA), five NiTi endodontic file designs with variations in cross-sectional geometry, taper, and pitch were analysed. A custom simulation model was developed to replicate clinical canal anatomy by inserting each instrument into a curved conical canal. Mechanical responses—including von Mises equivalent stress, equivalent strain, and resistant torque—were analysed across these configurations to assess critical performance metrics. The rectangular cross-section design demonstrated the highest torsional rigidity, with a resistant torque higher than 4 Nmm, while the triangular cross-section achieved greater flexibility, accommodating up to 360° of rotation without failure. The study then evaluated the influence of each design parameter on critical mechanical properties, including von Mises equivalent stress, strain distribution, and resistance to torsional failure. Results indicate that taper and pitch also play essential roles, with higher taper values increasing stiffness and reducing flexibility, while larger pitch values decrease stress and strain without significantly impacting resistance torque. Design parameters were further optimised through a Design of Experiments (DOE) approach, revealing that a taper of 5% and a pitch of 20 mm minimised stress and strain distributions, producing von Mises stress below 1000 MPa and maintaining strains within an acceptable threshold. These findings underscore the essential role of cross-sectional shape, taper, and pitch in balancing flexibility and torsional strength, offering valuable insights for designing safer, more efficient endodontic instruments that minimise fracture risk during clinical application. Simple Summary: Nevoid melanoma is a rare melanoma subtype that closely resembles a common nevus clinically and histologically. For this reason, diagnosis is easily missed. Both dermatologists and pathologists should be aware of this entity since its recognition might avoid severe consequences for the patient and medicolegal issues. Only a few papers on clinical and dermoscopic characteristics of nevoid melanoma are available. This study analyzes the clinical and pathological characteristics of nevoid melanoma in a population of patients affected by this rare subtype. It compares the prognosis and survival of these patients to data from classical melanoma featured in the literature. Additionally, by analyzing available dermoscopic images of nevoid melanoma, we aim to identify dermoscopic features that might help clinicians to suspect nevoid melanoma, reducing misdiagnosis. Background: Diagnosis of nevoid melanoma (NeM) is often difficult because NeM closely resembles a common nevus clinically and histologically. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 110 patients diagnosed with and/or treated for primary nevoid melanoma at the Veneto Institute of Oncology and at the University Hospital of Padua from August 1999. Results: Mean Breslow thickness was of 1.4 mm. Sentinel lymph node biopsy was conducted in nearly half of the patients, and positivity was detected in 16.7% of them. Twenty-four clinical and 23 dermoscopic pictures were collected. Papular and macular lesions prevailed over nodular and plaque-type lesions. Different hues of brown, pink, and red color were most represented. Twenty nevus-like NeMs and four multicomponent-pattern NeMs were observed. The Most frequent dermoscopic patterns for nevus-like NeM were atypical pigmented reticulum, irregular globules and dots, and hyperpigmented blotches. Atypical vessels, asymmetric peripheric striae, blue-white veil, and areas of regression were less frequent and prevailed in multicomponent pattern NeM. A structureless pattern was also featured. Many patients in the series had multiple melanomas. However, none of them had numerous multiple nevoid melanomas. Conclusions: NeM should not be regarded as a separate biological entity from classical melanoma, and the same histological and clinical prognostic factors apply to NeM. Clinically and dermoscopically, it often resembles benign nevi, although some clues such as evolution and some dermoscopic patterns could suggest malignancy. Mind–body practices have shown to be effective in reducing psychological distress and improving well-being and quality of life in clinical samples and healthy populations. We tested the effects of a body-based mindfulness intervention based on alexithymia, distress symptoms, and dispositional mindfulness among healthy adults. A total of seventy-three participants (mean age 40.1) were assigned to a body-based mindfulness program (i.e., experimental group) and the control group (i.e., waiting list). Distress symptoms were assessed with the Symptoms Questionnaire; alexithymia was measured using the Toronto Alexithymia Scale; and dispositional mindfulness was assessed with the Five Facets Mindfulness Questionnaire. Measures were completed at baseline and at one-week post-test. Even when controlling for baseline score, the body-based mindfulness program has shown to be effective in reducing distress symptoms (i.e., anxiety, depression, and somatic symptoms) and alexithymia, as well as improving dispositional mindfulness (i.e., observing, acting with awareness, and non-reacting). The findings from this study provide evidence that the body-based mindfulness program may help individuals to integrate bodily expressions, thoughts, and emotions, keeping an integrated sense of self. Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants integrated with Thermal Energy Storage (TES) represent a promising renewable energy source for generating heat and power. Binary molten salt mixtures, commonly referred to as Solar Salts, are utilized as effective heat transfer fluids and storage media due to their thermal stability and favorable thermophysical properties. However, these mixtures pose significant challenges due to their high solidification temperatures, around 240 °C, which can compromise the longevity and reliability of critical system components such as pressure sensors and bellows seal globe valves. Thus, it is essential to characterize their performance, assess their reliability under various conditions, and understand their failure mechanisms, particularly in relation to temperature fluctuations affecting the fluid's viscosity. This article discusses experimental tests conducted on a pressure sensor and a bellows seal globe valve, both designed for direct contact with molten salts in CSP environments, at the ENEA Casaccia Research Center laboratory in Rome. The methodology for conducting these experimental tests is detailed, and guidelines are outlined to optimize plant operation. Characterizing wave climate is crucial for coastal and offshore engineering applications. Reanalysis models, such as ERA5, are increasingly used due to their efficiency and lower costs compared to in situ measurements. However, their accuracy has not been thoroughly examined. This study addresses this gap by calibrating wave data from the ERA5 dataset with the available years of measurements from wave buoys in the Central Mediterranean Sea, specifically near Ponza, Cetraro, and Civitavecchia. A calibration approach was developed to adjust ERA5 wave data by aligning the model predictions closely with the co-located wave buoy observations. Results indicate that ERA5 systematically underestimates significant wave heights and periods, leading to an underestimation of wave power by up to 42% compared to buoy data. Calibration improved alignment between ERA5 and buoy measurements, enhancing wave energy representation and increasing estimated wave power by 35–48% annually. These findings underscore the importance of calibrating reanalysis datasets like ERA5 with in situ data to accurately assess wave energy potential, particularly in regions where model data may not fully capture local wave conditions. Many clients cope with the consequences of transformative life experience (TLE) in psychotherapy. TLE often involves a radical, profound reorganization of or change in one's life because of resulting formative, life-changing choices. Yet the essence of the mechanism people use to process and make sense of a TLE is unclear. This study is a phenomenological exploration of such experiences that aims to offer a heuristic theoretical view of how such change is constructed and played out. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 120 adults who had coped with the consequences of a TLE. Data analysis was guided by a hermeneutic phenomenology paradigm that postulates that people account for their experience within the four existentials of temporality, spatiality, corporality (embodiment), and relationality. Those lifeworld existentials were utilized as a framework and lens through which to organize the data. This procedure was followed by a hermeneutical interpretation to identify common features of lived experience along all four domains of analysis with the purpose of constructing a conceptual model that illustrates the essence of change during TLE. Early, intensive glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) is associated with long-term benefits in cardiovascular disease (CVD) development. Evidence on benefits of achieving HbA1c targets close to normal values is scant. Individuals with newly diagnosed T2D, without CVD at baseline, were identified in an Italian clinical registry (n = 251,339). We adopted three definitions of early exposure periods (0–1, 0–2, and 0–3 years). Mean HbA1c was categorized into HbA1c <5.7%, 5.7–6.4%, 6.5–7.0%, 7.1–8.0%, and >8.0%. The outcome was the incidence of major cardiovascular events. After a mean follow-up of 4.6 ± 2.9 years, at multivariate Cox regression analysis, compared with mean HbA1c <5.7% during the first year after diagnosis, the increase in the risk of CVD was 24%, 42%, 49%, and 56% for patients with HbA1c of 5.7–6.4%, 6.5–7.0%, 7.1–8.0%, and >8.0%, respectively. The same trend was documented in all exposure periods. In conclusion, our data support that an early achievement of stringent targets of HbA1c <5.7% is worthy for CVD prevention. Road traffic accidents (RTAs) are a major public health problem globally and cause deaths, disability, and significant economic costs. In Italy, there was an increased number of road accidents, deaths, and injuries in 2022 compared to 2021, although still below pre-pandemic levels. A retrospective observational study was performed on a case series of 53 consecutive fatal RTAs examined by the Section of Forensic Medicine of Verona. The case series was divided, according to the type of victims involved, into pedestrians, car drivers, car passengers, and motorcyclists. For each, the times and causes of death, the distribution of external and internal injuries, and toxicological data were analysed, and the results were compared with those in the literature. Although this is a preliminary study on a small case series and lacks statistical validation, so more cases are needed, the preliminary results seem to provide a useful tool for assessing injuries in complex fatal road accidents. Objective: To assess the methodological quality of radiomics-based models in endometrial cancer using the radiomics quality score (RQS) and METhodological radiomICs score (METRICS). Methods: We systematically reviewed studies published by October 30th, 2023. Inclusion criteria were original radiomics studies on endometrial cancer using CT, MRI, PET, or ultrasound. Articles underwent a quality assessment by novice and expert radiologists using RQS and METRICS. The inter-rater reliability for RQS and METRICS among radiologists with varying expertise was determined. Subgroup analyses were performed to assess whether scores varied according to study topic, imaging technique, publication year, and journal quartile. Results: Sixty-eight studies were analysed, with a median RQS of 11 (IQR, 9–14) and METRICS score of 67.6% (IQR, 58.8–76.0); two different articles reached maximum RQS of 19 and METRICS of 90.7%, respectively. Most studies utilised MRI (82.3%) and machine learning methods (88.2%). Characterisation and recurrence risk stratification were the most explored outcomes, featured in 35.3% and 19.1% of articles, respectively. High inter-rater reliability was observed for both RQS (ICC: 0.897; 95% CI: 0.821, 0.946) and METRICS (ICC: 0.959; 95% CI: 0.928, 0.979). Methodological limitations such as lack of external validation suggest areas for improvement. At subgroup analyses, no statistically significant difference was noted. Conclusions: Whilst using RQS, the quality of endometrial cancer radiomics research was apparently unsatisfactory, METRICS depicts a good overall quality. Our study highlights the need for strict compliance with quality metrics. Adhering to these quality measures can increase the consistency of radiomics towards clinical application in the pre-operative management of endometrial cancer. Clinical relevance statement: Both the RQS and METRICS can function as instrumental tools for identifying different methodological deficiencies in endometrial cancer radiomics research. However, METRICS also reflected a focus on the practical applicability and clarity of documentation. This paper reviews long term sequelae of COVID on brain and mental health in patients with the Long COVID syndrome. This was a literature review which queried databases for Pubmed, Psychinfo, and Medline for the following topics for January 1, 2020-July 15, 2023: Long COVID, PASC, brain, brain imaging, neurological, neurobiology, mental health, anxiety, depression. Tens of thousands of patients have developed Long COVID, with the most common neurobehavioral symptoms anosmia (loss of smell) and fatigue. Anxiety and mood disorders are elevated and seen in about 25% of Long COVID patients. Neuropsychological testing studies show a correlation between symptom severity and cognitive dysfunction, while brain imaging studies show global decreases in gray matter and alterations in olfactory and other brain areas. Background and Objective: In an effort to limit the risks associated with medical radiation exposure, the last century witnessed the development of dose control mechanisms, recommended by the International Commission on Radiological Protection. This organization recommends the optimization of radiation protection to provide the highest level of safety that may reasonably be achievable. Adhering to the "as low as reasonably achievable" principle, the purpose of this study was to monitor the 18F-FDG injected activity in PET and optimize the radiation protection through an internal audit process. This monitoring allows the identification of opportunities for improvement in patient care and safety, as well as to establish a periodic review of the medical unit reference levels. Methods: The methodology is based on short run Quesenberry (Q) statistics and normalized nonconstant sample size (Z-chart) control charts. Anonymized data from 512 patients were selected from a set of 18F-FDG PET/CT (Siemens, Biograph 6) examinations performed during 10 months. The analyzed variable was the ratio between the 18F-FDG injected activity (MBq) and patient weight (kg). Results: Mean injected 18F-FDG activity was 347.811 ± 64.967 MBq corresponding to a mean effective dose of 6.608 ± 1.234 mSv. The ratio between the 18F-FDG injected activity and the body mass of patients was reduced from 5.243 ± 0.716 to 5.171 ± 0.672 MBq/kg during the statistical data analysis. The study demonstrates that control charts can be a useful tool to signal situations where patients receive an activity significantly different from the standard practice in a medical unit. Conclusion: The use of joint control charts is a suitable tool for detecting nonoptimized radiopharmaceutical administration. This analysis provides opportunities to evaluate and improve the quality of practice in nuclear medicine. Neurons encode information in the highly variable spiking activity of neuronal populations, so that different repetitions of the same stimulus can generate action potentials that vary significantly in terms of the count and timing. How does spiking variability originate, and does it have a functional purpose? Leveraging large-scale intracellular electrophysiological data, we relate the spiking reliability of cortical neurons in-vitro during the intracellular injection of current resembling synaptic inputs to their morphologic, electrophysiologic, and transcriptomic classes. Our findings demonstrate that parvalbumin+ (PV) interneurons, a subclass of inhibitory neurons, show high reliability compared to other neuronal subclasses, particularly excitatory neurons. Through computational modeling, we predict that the high reliability of PV interneurons allows for strong and precise inhibition in downstream neurons, while the lower reliability of excitatory neurons allows for integrating multiple synaptic inputs leading to a spiking rate code. These findings illuminate how spiking variability in different neuronal classes affect information propagation in the brain, leading to precise inhibition and spiking rate codes. This work presents the first step in the development of the VISION toolkit, a set of Python tools that allows easy, efficient, and more meaningful comparison between global atmospheric models and observational data. Whilst observational data and modelling capabilities are expanding in parallel, there are still barriers preventing these two data sources from being used in synergy. This arises from differences in spatial and temporal sampling between models and observational platforms: observational data from a research aircraft, for example, are sampled on specified flight trajectories at very high temporal resolution. Proper comparison with model data requires generating, storing, and handling a large number of highly temporally resolved model files, resulting in a process which is data-, labour-, and time-intensive. In this paper we focus on comparison between model data and in situ observations (from aircraft, ships, buoys, sondes, etc.). A standalone code, In-Situ Observations Simulator, or ISO_simulator for short, is described here: this software reads modelled variables and observational data files and outputs model data interpolated in space and time to match observations. These model data are then written to NetCDF files that can be efficiently archived due to their small sizes and directly compared to observations. This method achieves a large reduction in the size of model data being produced for comparison with flight and other in situ data. By interpolating global gridded hourly files onto observation locations, we reduce data output for a typical climate resolution run, from ∼3 Gb per model variable per month to ∼15 Mb per model variable per month (a 200-times reduction in data volume). The VISION toolkit is relatively fast to run and can be automated to process large volumes of data at once, allowing efficient data analysis over a large number of years. Although this code was initially tested within the Unified Model (UM) framework, which is shared by the UK Earth System Model (UKESM), it was written as a flexible tool and it can be extended to work with other models. Dyslipidemia is a potential unfavorable prognostic factor in neuroendocrine tumors (NETs); conversely, statins proved to have antiproliferative effects in NET cell lines and could be a helpful therapeutic strategy for these patients. The main objective of this observational cohort retrospective study is to explore the associations between dyslipidemia and NET progression and evaluate the potential influence of statins in this context. 393 patients with histologically confirmed gastroenteropancreatic or bronchopulmonary NETs from six Italian centres didicated to NET diagnosis and therapy were included. The cohort included 123 patients with dyslipidemia, 81 of which were taking statins. Clinicopathological data, including patient demographics, tumor characteristics, and treatment details as well as the prevalence, timing of dyslipidemia and hypolipemic therapy were collected. The main outcome measure used is progression‐free survival (PFS). Among the 393 patients, 123 (31.3%) had dyslipidemia. Statins were used by 81 (65.8%) dyslipidemic patients, mostly atorvastatin. Median PFS was 87 months overall, 124 months in non‐dyslipidemic patients, and 72 months in dyslipidemic patients (p = .268). Dyslipidemic patients on statins had a significantly better median PFS (108 months) than those not on statins (26 months; p = .024). Recurrence‐free survival (RFS) was also evaluated, but no significant differences were found. In conclusion, while PFS was lower in dyslipidemic patients compared to non‐dyslipidemic patients, the difference was not statistically significant. Statin therapy was associated with improved PFS among dyslipidemic patients, suggesting a potential antiproliferative effect of statins in NETs. Congenital arhinia and hyporhinia are rare facial anomalies whose knowledge usually comes from case reports. The severity of each case described in literature is variable; it also depends on associated malformations too. Since the newborns are obligate nasal breathers, babies with arhinia or hyporhinia usually have respiratory distress and need airway stabilization. In addition, most of these children present difficulties in feeding and this impairment must be managed early. We describe an unusual case of partial congenital arhinia, the baby did not have other anomalies or any specific complication such as respiratory and feeding issues, so the major problem was the aesthetic and psychological issues for the family. Even if the neonatal course was uncomplicated, a coordinated approach of the pediatrician with the pediatric otolaryngologist, the geneticists and the neurosurgeons was necessary because the management of these malformations is always very complex; due to the lack of reports described in literature, an univocal management and also the best timing and technique for reconstructive surgery are still not defined. The axis CXCL12-CXCR4 is highly expressed in ovarian cancer where contributes to disease progression. Aim of the work was to evaluate the effect of the newly developed CXCR4 antagonist R54 on human ovarian cancer cells aggressiveness. CXCL12-CXCR4 axis was evaluated in human ovarian cancer cells through proliferation, migration and signaling CXCL12-dependents. Epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) was analyzed through E-CADHERIN, N-CADHERIN, VIMENTIN, SNAIL1 and ΒETA-CATENIN by qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence and immunoblotting. R54 inhibited ovarian cancer cells proliferation and migration CXCL12-induced. Moreover, R54 inhibited CXCL12 dependent pERK1/2 and pAKT and reversed the CXCL12 induced EMT in ovarian cancer cells. Red blood cells (RBCs) are the main cells of the blood, perform numerous functions within the body and are in continuous contact with endogenous and exogenous molecules. In this context, the study aims to investigate the effect of epicatechin (EC) (flavan-3-ols) on the erythrocytes, analyzing the protective effect of the molecule and the action exerted on metabolism and RBC membrane. The effect of EC on RBC viability has been evaluated through the change in hemolysis and methemoglobin, assessing caspase 3 activity and performing a cytofluorometric analysis. Next, the impact of the molecule on RBC metabolism was assessed by measuring anion flux kinetics, ATP production, and phosphatase activity. Finally, an evaluation of the potential protection against different stressors was performed. Our results show no detrimental effects of EC on RBCs (no change in hemolysis or methemoglobin and no caspase 3 activation recorded); rather, a protective effect was recorded given the reduction in hemolysis induced by hydrogen peroxide treatment and temperature increase. The increase in anion exchange and intracellular ATP values, with the inhibition of phosphatase PTP1B activity, highlights several biochemical alterations induced by EC. Simple Summary: The postpartum period is a metabolically stressful time for dairy cows. During this period, cows face suppressed feed intake and a series of stressors that challenge the cow's ability to adapt to lactation. Previous studies have shown that offering cows a total mixed ration diet containing a slowly fermentable starch source during the early postpartum period increases their feed intake when compared with that for a faster fermentable starch source. This leads to an immediate increase in milk production that carries over to later in lactation. These cows also exhibit an improved energy balance and decreased metabolic stress. However, the effects of feeding starch sources with differing fermentability during the early postpartum period in pasture-fed dairy systems are unknown. This experiment determined the effects of feeding starch sources with contrasting in vitro fermentability twice a day with perennial ryegrass silage as the forage source on feed intake, milk production, body reserves, feeding behavior, and markers of metabolic stress. This experiment determined the effects of two different starch sources when offered twice a day to cows during the early postpartum period (1 to 23 d postpartum, treatment period) on dry matter intake (DMI), feeding behavior, and milk production. The subsequent effects on milk production in the carryover period (24 to 72 d) where cows received a common diet (grazed perennial ryegrass pasture plus concentrate supplements) were also measured. Thirty-two multiparous dairy cows were offered concentrate feed (8 kg DM/d) containing 5 kg DM of crushed wheat grain or ground corn grain (7 h in vitro starch digestibility of 65.8% and 58.8%, respectively). At each milking (morning and afternoon), cows were offered half of the concentrate feed, and upon return to their individual stalls, they were offered perennial ryegrass pasture silage (56.2% neutral detergent fiber (NDF), 39.8% acid detergent fiber (ADF), 16.6% crude protein (CP)) at 130% of their expected daily intake. Dry matter intake, milk yield, and body weight were recorded daily. Blood and milk sampling, body condition score, and feeding behavior measurements were performed weekly during the treatment period. During the carryover period, milk sampling and body condition score measurements were conducted on a weekly and fortnightly basis, respectively. In the treatment and carryover periods, there was no significant effect of starch source treatment on DMI, milk yield, milk composition, change in body weight, or body condition. Similarly, the starch source did not affect the concentrations of blood markers of energy status or inflammatory response. Despite differences in the in vitro starch fermentability between treatments, the starch source did not significantly affect production responses. It is possible that the elevated NDF and ADF concentrations of the forage offered during the treatment period, the limited difference in starch fermentability between treatments, and the temporal supply of fuels to the liver when starch sources were offered twice a day may have offset the effects of the type of starch source on DMI and production via physical signals associated with rumen fill and distention. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic and lethal interstitial lung disease (ILD) of unknown origin, characterized by limited treatment efficacy and a fibroproliferative nature. It is marked by excessive extracellular matrix deposition in the pulmonary parenchyma, leading to progressive lung volume decline and impaired gas exchange. The chemokine system, a network of proteins involved in cellular communication with diverse biological functions, plays a crucial role in various respiratory diseases. Chemokine receptors trigger the activation, proliferation, and migration of lung-resident cells, including pneumocytes, endothelial cells, alveolar macrophages, and fibroblasts. Around 50 chemokines can potentially interact with 20 receptors, expressed by both leukocytes and non-leukocytes such as tissue parenchyma cells, contributing to processes such as leukocyte mobilization from the bone marrow, recirculation through lymphoid organs, and tissue influx during inflammation or immune response. This narrative review explores the complexity of the chemokine system in the context of IPF and the bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis mouse model. The goal is to identify specific chemokines and receptors as potential therapeutic targets. Recent progress in understanding the role of the chemokine system during IPF, using experimental models and molecular diagnosis, underscores the complex nature of this system in the context of the disease. Despite advances in experimental models and molecular diagnostics, discovering an effective therapy for IPF remains a significant challenge in both medicine and pharmacology. This work delves into microarray results from lung samples of IPF patients and murine samples at different stages of bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis. By discussing common pathways identified in both IPF and the experimental model, we aim to shed light on potential targets for therapeutic intervention. Dysregulation caused by abnormal chemokine levels observed in IPF lungs may activate multiple targets, suggesting that chemokine signaling plays a central role in maintaining or perpetuating lung fibrogenesis. Lactic acid (LA) is a versatile, optically active compound with applications across the food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries, largely driven by its role in producing biodegradable polylactic acid (PLA). Due to its abundance, lignocellulosic biomass is a promising and sustainable resource for LA production, although media derived from these matrices are often rich in xylose and contain growth inhibitors. This study investigates LA production using a xylose-rich medium derived from Cynara cardunculus L. altilis DC stalks treated through steam explosion and enzymatic hydrolysis. The lactic acid bacteria strains Lacticaseibacillus casei, Paucilactobacillus vaccinostercus, and Pediococcus pentosaceus were grown on natural media, achieving yields of 0.59, 0.57, and 0.58 g LA/g total carbon consumed, respectively. Remarkably, on xylose-rich media, all supplied sugar was consumed, with LA yields comparable to those on complex media. Governance of biomedical research in the United States has been characterized by ethical individualism, a mode of reasoning that treats the individual person as the center of moral concern and analysis. However, genomics research raises ethics issues that uniquely affect certain genetically related communities as collectives, not merely as aggregates of individuals. This is especially true of identifiable populations—including Indigenous Peoples—that are often minoritized, socially marginalized, or geographically isolated. We propose an alternative, complementary framework based on the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) (2007), which explicitly recognizes both individual and collective rights. We use the CARE Principles for Indigenous Data Governance as a case study to show how this UNDRIP‐based framework can complement the individual‐focused national standard for research oversight represented by the Belmont principles, thereby better protecting Indigenous Peoples' rights and interests in genomic data. Despite the rich bat diversity of Mediterranean islands, no studies have examined the factors influencing chiropteran species richness in such a geographic context.We used Greek islands as a model to detect drivers of bat species richness based on a broad species occurrence dataset from islands of the Aegean and Ionian Seas, which was explored using 10 potential predictor variables.Initially, we comprehensively evaluated all available data and sources for 53 Greek islands, deemed essential. This resulted in a reduced set of 28 islands. Predictors were grouped into three categories: island area, landscape diversity and island isolation. Generalised linear models were employed to identify the most significant factors explaining bat species richness in the 28 islands.Tree cover and the distance between the islands and their nearest coast (mainland or island) best performed to predict bat species richness on Greek islands.We show the important role of landscape composition and degree of isolation in influencing the distribution of bat species on islands.We highlight the importance of forest habitats and the vital role of their management and protection, especially in the insular systems of the Mediterranean basin, where the risk of forest degradation or loss due to wildfires and land use change is especially high. Nitroreductases, present within both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, form a group of flavin‐dependent enzymes capable of reducing nitro compounds using NAD(P)H as reducing agent. These enzymes have been widely studied due to their diverse roles in bioremediation, cancer therapy, cell ablation, and antimicrobial resistance. In recent times, the versatility of nitroreductases has been expanded toward the synthesis of highly valuable compounds such as aromatic and aliphatic amines, azoxy and azobenzenes, as well as N‐heterocycles. This review examines the biological role and diversity of flavin‐dependent nitroreductases, and highlights their current and potential future application as biocatalysts for the sustainable synthesis of nitrogen‐containing pharmaceutical compounds and bulk chemicals. Coumarin and furocoumarins characterization in cosmetics plays an important role in protecting consumer health. The analytical technique mostly employed for the analysis of these molecules is certainly liquid chromatography coupled to photodiode array or mass spectrometer detectors. The aim of this article was to investigate on the oxygen heterocyclic compounds content in fifty hydro alcoholic fragrances using a fast, sensitive and eco-friendly liquid chromatography coupled to a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer detector analytical method without any sample pre-treatment. To the best of the author's knowledge, this is the first research article on the quantification of thirty-six oxygen heterocyclic compounds in hydro alcoholic fragrances in less than 4 min and with the use of water/ethanol as mobile phase. PURPOSE: We introduce a novel algorithmic approach to design phase I trials for oncology drug combinations. METHODS: Our proposed Toxicity Adaptive Lists Design (TALE) is straightforward to implement, requiring the prespecification of a small number of parameters that define rules governing dose escalation, de-escalation, or reassessment of previously explored dose levels. These rules effectively regulate dose exploration and control the number of toxicities. A key feature of TALE is the possibility of simultaneous assignment of multiple-dose combinations that are deemed safe by previously accrued data. RESULTS: A numerical study shows that TALE shares comparable operative characteristics, in terms of identification of the maximum tolerated dose (MTD), to alternative approaches such as the Bayesian optimal interval design, the COPULA, the product of independent beta probabilities escalation, and the continual reassessment method for partial ordering designs while reducing the risk of overdosing patients. CONCLUSION: The proposed TALE design provides a favorable balance between maintaining patient safety and accurately identifying the MTD. To facilitate the use of TALE, we provide a user-friendly R Shiny application and an R package for computing relevant operating characteristics, such as the risk of assigning highly toxic dose combinations. PURPOSE: Studies have investigated the early use of liquid biopsy (LBx) during the diagnostic workup of patients presenting with clinical evidence of advanced lung cancer, but real-world adoption and impact has not been characterized. The aim of this study was to determine whether the use of LBx before diagnosis (Dx; LBx-Dx) enables timely comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) and shortens time until treatment initiation for advanced non–small-cell lung cancer (aNSCLC). MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study used the Flatiron Health-Foundation Medicine electronic health record-derived deidentified clinicogenomic database of patients with aNSCLC from approximately 280 US cancer clinics. RESULTS: Of 1,076 patients with LBx CGP ordered within 30 days prediagnosis/postdiagnosis, we focused on 56 (5.2%) patients who ordered LBx before diagnosis date (median 8 days between order and diagnosis, range, 1-28). Compared with 1,020 patients who ordered LBx after diagnosis (Dx-LBx), LBx-Dx patients had similar stage and ctDNA tumor fraction (TF). LBx-Dx patients received CGP results a median of 1 day after Dx versus 25 days for Dx-LBx patients. Forty-three percent of LBx-Dx were positive for an National Comprehensive Cancer Network driver, and 32% had ctDNA TF >1% but were driver negative (presumed true negatives). In 748 patients with previously untreated aNSCLC, median time from Dx to therapy was shorter in the LBx-Dx versus Dx-LBx group (21 v 35 days; P <.001). CONCLUSION: Early LBx in anticipation of pathologic diagnosis of aNSCLC was uncommon in this real-world cohort, yet this emerging paradigm was associated with an abbreviated time to CGP results and faster therapy initiation. Forthcoming prospective studies will clarify the utility of LBx in parallel with biopsy for diagnostic confirmation for patients presenting with suspected advanced lung cancer. Cardio-cerebral vascular diseases due to atherosclerosis are still the leading cause of death worldwide. Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and apolipoprotein B have been identified as the primary factors responsible for the atherosclerotic process, with a causal effect. Many drugs aimed at reducing LDL-C levels are already on the market, acting in different ways in terms of mechanism of action, efficacy, and safety. Moreover, new lipid-lowering agents and new technologies in the fields of gene editing and immunotherapy are currently under investigation. A more recent biomarker associated with an increased risk of plaque generation, progression, and subsequent ASCVD is the lipoprotein (a) and, in the next few years, it will be the new target of pharmacological therapy. The aim of this review is to present the landscape of therapies already approved to reduce LDL-C levels, evaluating their efficacy, tolerability, and indications. Moreover, we take a glimpse into the future to evaluate experimental novel therapies to lower LDL-C levels that will be approved in the next few years or are under clinical evaluation. Objective: To determine whether annual changes in prices for clinician‐administered drugs are associated with changes in patient out‐of‐pocket costs. Data Sources and Study Setting: National commercial claims database, 2009 to 2018. Study Design: In a serial, cross‐sectional study, we calculated the annual percent change in manufacturer list prices and net prices after rebates. We used two‐part generalized linear models to assess the relationship between annual changes in price with (1) the percentage of individuals incurring any out‐of‐pocket costs and (2) the percent change in median non‐zero out‐of‐pocket costs. Data Collection/Extraction Methods: We created annual cohorts of privately insured individuals who used one of 52 brand‐name clinician‐administered drugs. Principal Findings: List prices increased 4.4%/yr (interquartile range [IQR], 1.1% to 6.0%) and net prices 3.3%/yr (IQR, 0.3% to 5.5%). The median percentage of patients with any out‐of‐pocket costs increased from 38% in 2009 to 48% in 2018, and median non‐zero annual out‐of‐pocket costs increased by 9.6%/yr (IQR, 4.1% to 15.4%). There was no association between changes in prices and out‐of‐pocket costs for individual drugs. Conclusions: From 2009 to 2018, prices and out‐of‐pocket costs for brand‐name clinician‐administered drugs increased, but these were not directly related for individual drugs. Objective: To assess the prevalence and the characteristics of pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) in women with endometriosis. Methods: This is a methodological paper that describes the 'Endometriosis and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction' (EndoPFD) multicenter study protocol. It involves three sites: the University Hospital of Pisa, the San Raffaele Hospital of Milan and the Vanvitelli University Hospital of Naples. Women are recruited through web links and are asked whether they want to participate to the clinical evaluation or only to the web survey. The web survey gathers personal history, endometriosis history and symptoms, and performs a subjective evaluation of PFD through questionnaires: Urinary Distress Inventory 6, Colorectal-Anal Distress Inventory 8, Wexner Scale for Fecal Incontinence, Wexner Constipation Scoring System, and Female Sexual Function Index. Those interested in the clinical evaluation will add to the questionnaires the following exams: gynecological and proctological exam, pelvic ultrasound, urodynamic test, and anorectal manometry. Preliminary results: Recruitment for the web survey was completed. A total of 1,149 women signed the electronic consent, 329 were excluded due to inclusion/exclusion criteria; hence, 525 completed all the questionnaires (response rate of 64.02%). Recruitment for the clinical evaluation is ongoing. Discussion: This study protocol offers the possibility to define the prevalence of PFD in endometriosis patients with a subjective and an objective assessment of signs and symptoms. This may pave the way for changing the approach to patients with endometriosis. In this work we address partial wave decompositions of thermal one-point functions in conformal field theories on S1 × Sd−1. With the help of Casimir differential equations we develop efficient algorithms to compute the relevant conformal blocks for an external field of arbitrary spin and with any spin exchange along the thermal circle, at least in three dimensions. This is achieved by identifying solutions to the Casimir equations with a special class of spherical functions in the harmonic analysis of the conformal group. The resulting blocks are then applied to study the decomposition of one-point functions of the scalar ϕ2 and the stress tensor T for a three-dimensional free scalar field ϕ. We are able to read off averaged OPE coefficients into exchanged fields of high weight and spin for a complete set of tensor structures. We also extract an asymptotic behaviour of conformal blocks and use it to analyse the density of heavy-heavy-light OPE coefficients for spinning operators, comparing it with semi-classical predictions, such as the dimensions of operators at large charge.
