Sea ice drift in the Arctic Ocean impacts ice mass balance, ocean currents, ice deformation, and freshwater output into lower latitudes. Satellite observation reveals that the Arctic sea ice drift has accelerated under global warming. Meanwhile, previous studies also found that local atmospheric intraseasonal oscillation modulates the Arctic sea ice drift. However, the mechanisms linking the Arctic sea ice drift change to the general warming and intraseasonal oscillation in the local atmosphere are not clearly addressed. Based on a sea ice‒ocean coupled model, this study finds that: (1) The atmospheric intraseasonal oscillation leads to a higher climatological sea ice drift speed despite it produces thicker ice in the Arctic marginal seas, since the elevating effect of increased wind speed yields the suppressing effect of increased ice thickness on sea ice drift speed. (2) The warming of local atmosphere results in substantial elevation of the Arctic sea ice drift speed through generating basin-scale reduction of sea ice thickness. An operational synoptic-scale sea ice forecasting system for the Southern Ocean, namely the Southern Ocean Ice Prediction System (SOIPS), has been developed to support ship navigation in the Antarctic sea ice zone. Practical application of the SOIPS forecasts had been implemented for the 38th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition for the first time. The SOIPS is configured on an Antarctic regional sea ice–ocean–ice shelf coupled model and an ensemble-based localized error subspace transform Kalman filter data assimilation model. Daily near-real-time satellite sea ice concentration observations are assimilated into the SOIPS to update sea ice concentration and thickness in the 12 ensemble members of the model state. By evaluating the SOIPS performance in forecasting sea ice metrics in a complete melt–freeze cycle from 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022, this study shows that the SOIPS can provide reliable Antarctic sea ice forecasts. In comparison with non-assimilated EUMETSAT Ocean and Sea Ice Satellite Application Facility (OSI SAF) data, annual mean root mean square errors in the sea ice concentration forecasts at a lead time of up to 168 h are lower than 0.19, and the integrated ice edge errors in the sea ice forecasts in most freezing months at lead times of 24 and 72 h maintain around 0.5×106 km 2 and below 1.0×106 km 2 , respectively. With respect to the scarce Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) observations, the mean absolute errors in the sea ice thickness forecasts at a lead time of 24 h are lower than 0.3 m, which is in the range of the ICESat-2 uncertainties. Specifically, the SOIPS has the ability to forecast sea ice drift, in both magnitude and direction. The derived sea ice convergence rate forecasts have great potential for supporting ship navigation on a fine local scale. The comparison between the persistence forecasts and the SOIPS forecasts with and without data assimilation further shows that both model physics and the data assimilation scheme play important roles in producing reliable sea ice forecasts in the Southern Ocean. Freeze tolerance is a complex agronomic trait that is difficult to evaluate in the field because of year‐to‐year variation in weather. Discovering plant characteristics closely related to freeze tolerance would enable more effective selection for this important trait. To explore possible physiological mechanisms and search for useful characteristics related to freeze tolerance in winter barley, we conducted field and growth chamber experiments with seven freeze‐tolerant and seven freeze‐susceptible genotypes that exhibited contrasting winter survival in preliminary field screenings. In a 2‐year field experiment, malondialdehyde, proline and water‐soluble carbohydrate concentrations were measured during cold acclimation and deacclimation to investigate differences in osmoregulation and membrane stability between freeze‐tolerant and freeze‐sensitive genotypes. All parameters varied by sampling year, and significant differences between freeze tolerance groups were found mainly during cold deacclimation in the spring. In growth chamber experiments, the size of xylem vessels and stomates was measured with and without cold acclimation. Freeze‐tolerant genotypes had smaller xylem vessels and stomates than freeze‐sensitive genotypes with and without cold acclimation, and small stomatal length was associated with a small xylem vessel area. Thus, it may be possible to improve freeze tolerance in winter barley by selecting smaller xylem and stomate cells. This study also validated germplasms of winter barley with differential freeze tolerance for future projects on breeding for improving winter hardiness and on plant physiology and genetics in response to freezing stress. In the current daily life of people, the usage for disposable medical masks (DMMs) continues to be high. Discarded DMMs eventually become plastic pollution, threatening the marine environment seriously. At present, the common plastic recycling methods are extensive and not completely applicable for DMM recycling. In this work, according to the special structural and material characteristics of DMMs, a simple and effective recycling solution is proposed based on triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs). First, a pulsed electric field system is designed and fabricated to treat the recycled films. The sterilizing rate reaches 91.8%, and the film surface potential is enhanced at the same time. Then, the feasibility of the treated films to be applied as the friction layers of TENGs is verified. Moreover, the recycled films are upgraded by chemical and physical methods, improving the output current of the basic TENG by 3.28 times. Finally, a complete TENG device is constructed to harvest water wave energy, 93.75% of which is made from recycled DMM materials. Under water waves, the power density of 18.22 W m−3 is achieved. The equipment cabins of high‐speed trains encountered alternating pressure loads during operation. A fatigue evaluation methodology based on sub‐zone aerodynamic loading was proposed. Theoretical model was given between pressure load at each zone and the accompanying six structural stress components. Stress recovery matrix was formulated by finite element analysis (FEA) in sub‐zone loading cases to relate the stress to the measured pressure loads. Vehicle test gathered the pressure time‐history data of cabin sub‐zones at the head car in different ambient conditions, from which the two‐dimensional stress spectrum was derived by rain‐flow counting. The fatigue damage of welds was then assessed utilizing the Miner's and Corten Dolan's rules, yielding maximum equivalent damages of 0.72 and 0.23, respectively. The structural fatigue damage under high environmental wind conditions was 1–3 times greater than in calm weather. Nonetheless, the fatigue damage incurred by the metal matrix was significantly lower, demonstrating a substantial safety margin. Background: The key role of thrombospondin 1 (THBS1) in the pathogenesis of acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) is unclear. Here, we present a transcriptome approach to evaluate THBS1 as a potential biomarker in ACLF disease pathogenesis. Methods: Biobanked peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from 330 subjects with hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related etiologies, including HBV-ACLF, liver cirrhosis (LC), and chronic hepatitis B (CHB), and normal controls (NC) randomly selected from the Chinese Group on the Study of Severe Hepatitis B (COSSH) prospective multicenter cohort underwent transcriptome analyses (ACLF = 20; LC = 10; CHB = 10; NC = 15); the findings were externally validated in participants from COSSH cohort, an ACLF rat model and hepatocyte-specific THBS1 knockout mice. Results: THBS1 was the top significantly differentially expressed gene in the PBMC transcriptome, with the most significant upregulation in ACLF, and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (ACLF = 110; LC = 60; CHB = 60; NC = 45) was used to verify that THBS1 expression corresponded to ACLF disease severity outcome, including inflammation and hepatocellular apoptosis. THBS1 showed good predictive ability for ACLF short-term mortality, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) of 0.8438 and 0.7778 at 28 and 90 days, respectively. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay validation of the plasma THBS1 using an expanded COSSH cohort subjects (ACLF = 198; LC = 50; CHB = 50; NC = 50) showed significant correlation between THBS1 with ALT and γ-GT (P = 0.01), and offered a similarly good prognostication predictive ability (AUROC = 0.7445 and 0.7175) at 28 and 90 days, respectively. ACLF patients with high-risk short-term mortality were identified based on plasma THBS1 optimal cut-off value (< 28 µg/ml). External validation in ACLF rat serum and livers confirmed the functional association between THBS1, the immune response and hepatocellular apoptosis. Hepatocyte-specific THBS1 knockout improved mouse survival, significantly repressed major inflammatory cytokines, enhanced the expression of several anti-inflammatory mediators and impeded hepatocellular apoptosis. Conclusions: THBS1 might be an ACLF disease development-related biomarker, promoting inflammatory responses and hepatocellular apoptosis, that could provide clinicians with a new molecular target for improving diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. The study aimed to investigate the effect of Huoxiang longhuang powder on the serum biochemical, antioxidant and immune indexes of fattening cattle. Eighty healthy, disease-free, well-conditioned Simmental crossbred cattle with an average weight of (385.0 ± 16.3) kg and similar age were selected and randomly divided into four groups, with four replicates in each group and five cattle in each replicate. The cattle in the control group, experimental group I, experimental group H, and experimental group M were fed with rations containing 0, 1%, 2%, and 4% Huoxiang longhuang powder, respectively. The preliminary trial lasted for 10 days, followed by a formal experimental period of 60 days. The results showed that compared to the control group, the total protein, globulin content, and alkaline phosphatase activity of fattening cattle in the experimental group H increased by 10.87%, 17.83% and 24.82%, respectively (P<0.05), and the urea nitrogen content decreased by 20.25% (P<0.05). Compared to the control group, the superoxide dismutase, catalase activities, and total antioxidant capacity in the serum of fattening cattle in the experimental group H increased by 36.70%, 28.63% and 35.28%, respectively (P<0.05). The concentrations of immunoglobulin A and immunoglobulin G of fattening cattle in the experimental group H increased by 18.99% and 29.98%, respectively (P<0.05). The study indicates that adding 2% Huoxiang longhuang powder to the diet of fattening cattle can improve the serum biochemical indexes, promote the deposition of fat and protein, and enhance antioxidant and immunity capabilities. Based on the traditional active noise control method, a phased-array secondary sound source was designed to replace the traditional sound source. Adopting a 4 × 4 array distributed design, we still maintain a single-in single-out system. Simulations show that the phased-array secondary sound source better controls noise reduction in a certain area of space, with better noise reduction effect, larger static area, and less impact on other non-control areas. A verification experiment was performed in a semi-anechoic chamber, with noise reduction conducted in different directions. The noise reduction effect of the phased-array secondary sound source was >10 dB higher than that of the traditional secondary sound source, with less influence on other points. In the new energy era, ocean wave energy is recognized as one of the most important clean and renewable energy sources. As an advanced energy technology, developing triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) to harvest ocean wave energy has become a promising research direction. However, for most of the current fully enclosed TENGs or liquid–solid TENGs, the industrialization is limited. In this work, a TENG with a new working scheme is proposed for water wave energy harvesting. Through designing the opposite dynamic electric‐double‐layers, the efficient conversion of water kinetic energy into electrical energy is achieved. Moreover, the TENG structure is extended to an array. Under irregular water waves, the TENG array exhibits desired output performance, with the stable output current of 60.0 µA, output voltage of 60.0 V, and average power density of 5.38 W m−3. Finally, the TENG array is demonstrated to successfully power signal spotlights, the digital thermometer and the water quality detector. This study not only broadens the research ideas for TENGs, but also provides a new mechanism for the ocean wave energy exploitation, which is of great significance to the industrialization of TENGs and blue energy. Acute‐on‐chronic liver failure (ACLF) is a critical syndrome that develops in patients with chronic liver disease and is characterized by acute decompensation, single‐ or multiple‐organ failure and high short‐term mortality. Over the past few decades, ACLF has been progressively recognized as an independent clinical entity, and several criteria and prognostic scores have been proposed and validated by different scientific societies. However, controversies still exist in some aspects across regions, which mainly involve whether the definition of underlying liver diseases should include cirrhosis and non‐cirrhosis. The pathophysiology of ACLF is complicated and remains unclear, although accumulating evidence based on different aetiologies of ACLF shows that it is closely associated with intense systemic inflammation and immune‐metabolism disorder, which result in mitochondrial dysfunction and microenvironment imbalance, leading to disease development and organ failure. In‐depth insight into the biological pathways involved in the mechanisms of ACLF and potential mechanistic targets that improve patient survival still needs to be investigated. Omics‐based analytical techniques, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and microbiomes, have developed rapidly and can offer novel insights into the essential pathophysiologic process of ACLF. In this paper, we briefly reviewed and summarized the current knowledge and recent advances in the definitions, criteria and prognostic assessments of ACLF; we also described the omics techniques and how omics‐based analyses have been applied to investigate and characterize the biological mechanisms of ACLF and identify potential predictive biomarkers and therapeutic targets for ACLF. This systematic review and meta‐analysis examines similarities and differences in intrusive parenting between mothers and fathers and relations between intrusive parenting and early childhood development. The authors integrated 55 studies and differentiated cognitive skills and socio‐emotional problems as developmental outcomes. The present study employs three‐level meta‐analyses to reliably estimate effect sizes and examine a range of moderators. It finds a moderate effect size of similarities in intrusive parenting within a family (r = 0.256, confidence interval [CI] = [0.180, 0.329]). No significant differences were observed in intrusiveness level between mothers and fathers (g = 0.035, CI = [−0.034, 0.103]). Intrusive parenting had a significant positive association with children's socio‐emotional problems (rmother = 0.098, CImother = [0.051, 0.145]; rfather = 0.094, CI father = [0.032, 0.154]) but was not related to cognitive skills. Moderator analyses suggest that East Asian mothers exhibit higher intrusiveness levels than fathers, whereas Western parents display no significant differences. Overall, these results reveal more similarities than differences in intrusive parenting and that culture likely plays a role in shaping gender‐specific parenting behaviors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As an important part of natural resources, islands support the marine economy and build a blue barrier for marine ecological civilization. However, the power supply on these islands is difficult, limiting the development of marine internet of things (IoTs). In order to break the status quo, this work applies triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) to island power supply and ecological monitoring. A spherical TENG with two multilayered helical units is designed to harvest water wave energy, in which the space utilization rate reaches 92.5%. Then a charge shuttling mechanism is developed to improve the electrical output. The output current and power of a single TENG without power management reach 200.3 µA and 16.2 mW respectively, corresponding to a peak power density of 23.2 W m−3. Moreover, a scheme of the power managed TENG is proposed for realizing large‐scale wave energy harvesting. The TENG is demonstrated to successfully power a water quality detector, a Bluetooth thermo‐hygrometer, and an intelligent wireless alarm system for remote environmental monitoring. This work not only proposes a new type of TENG for water wave energy harvesting with improved performance, but also provides a new strategy for intelligent ocean IoTs, which even contributes to the carbon neutralization. The sea ice cover has experienced substantial changes in Antarctica in the past decades, yet its responses to the long-term trend of the local atmosphere are still not clear. With the aid of an Antarctic coupled sea ice-ocean-ice shelf model, the sea ice seasonality in response to the long-term trend of the local atmospheric forcing has been quantified based on a sea ice budget analysis. Significantly spatial variabilities have been found in the Antarctic sea ice in response to the long-term trend of the local atmospheric forcing. The sea ice area and volume decrease in the Weddell Sea and increase in the Ross Sea throughout the year. In the Amundsen-Bellingshausen Seas sector, the sea ice area decreases from December to June and increases from July to November, while the sea ice volume decreases throughout the year. In the Indian-Western Pacific Oceans sector, the sea ice area decreases from January to May and increases from June to December, while the sea ice volume increases throughout the year. The long-term trend of the local atmospheric forcing modulates the sea ice loss in the melting period mainly through modifying the ice-ocean heat flux over the ice base, while it governs the sea ice growth in the freezing period by the combined effects of the ice-ocean heat flux and the atmosphere-ocean heat flux. Although the trend of the surface wind can also lead to distinct variations by the local sea ice convergence/divergence, the integrated contributions over the basin scale are relatively small. Thickness reduction or loss of the calcareous eggshell is one of major phenotypic changes in the transition from oviparity to viviparity. Whether the reduction of eggshells in viviparous squamates is associated with specific gene losses is unknown. Taking advantage of a newly generated high‐quality genome of the viviparous Chinese crocodile lizard (Shinisaurus crocodilurus), we found that ovocleidin‐17 gene (OC‐17), which encodes an eggshell matrix protein that is essential for calcium deposition in eggshells, is not intact in the crocodile lizard genome. Only OC‐17 transcript fragments were found in the oviduct transcriptome, and no OC‐17 peptides were identified in the eggshell proteome of crocodile lizards. In contrast, OC‐17 was present in the eggshells of the oviparous Mongolia racerunner (Eremias argus). Although the loss of OC‐17 is not common in viviparous species, viviparous squamates show fewer intact eggshell‐specific proteins than oviparous squamates. Our study implies that functional loss of eggshell‐matrix protein genes may be involved in the reduction of eggshells during the transition from oviparity to viviparity in the crocodile lizard. Maternal control strategy refers to a mother's practices used to impel, inhibit, guide, or shape their children's behaviors during mother-child interaction. The present study examined control strategies used by Chinese urban mothers and how they associated with infants' cortisol trajectory and infant-mother cortisol synchrony during a separation task. Participants were 115 infant-mother dyads. Maternal control strategy was assessed during mother-infant free-play when the infants were 6 months (T1) and 1 year (T2) old. Salivary cortisol samples were collected from both infants and mothers during a stress-inducing task at T2. The results indicated that mothers most frequently adopted the moderate power control strategy, at both T1 and T2. T1 maternal low control strategy significantly predicted infants' cortisol response curve, namely infants of mothers who predominantly adopted a low power control strategy had a more dynamic reactivity and recovery in their cortisol response to the separation task. Positive cortisol synchrony was observed between mothers and infants during the separation stress condition. In addition, T2 maternal high power control strategy accounted for inter-individual variations in infant-mother cortisol synchrony, such that mothers who predominantly adopted a high power control strategy exhibited a heightened level of cortisol synchrony with their infants. Our findings suggest that targeted training in maternal control strategies could help mothers calibrate their infants' adrenocortical regulation. • Mothers used moderate control most frequently when infants were 6 months (T1) and 1 year (T2). • T1 maternal low control significantly predicted infants' cortisol response curve. • Mothers and infants showed positive cortisol synchrony across the separation stress condition. • T2 maternal high control explained individual variation in infant-mother cortisol synchrony. Objectives: To evaluate the safety of ultrasound-guided thermal ablation (UGTA) for thyroid nodules (TNs) by analysing complications and related risks.This retrospective, single-centre study reviewed patients who underwent UGTA (microwave or radiofrequency ablation) between January 2018 and March 2023. The incidence of complications was recorded and assessed during and immediately after ablation,1–3 h later, and at 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify risk factors for hoarseness and haemorrhagic complications.We reviewed 9667 cases in this study. Overall, 4494 (46.49%) cases underwent microwave ablation, while 5173 (53.51%) cases underwent radiofrequency ablation. The overall complication rate was 4.43%. The incidence of major complications was 1.94% (haemorrhage, 1.32%; hoarseness, 0.54%; and symptomatic aseptic necrosis, 0.08%). The incidence of minor complications was 2.45%. A large nodule volume, radiofrequency ablation, hyper-enhancing nodules, benign nodules, higher preoperative blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, and higher ablation power were independent risk factors for haemorrhage. Dorsal nodules and a higher ablation power were independent risk factors for hoarseness. All complications were resolved.This study suggests that UGTA is a safe treatment for TNs. Several risk factors for haemorrhage and hoarseness should be considered before performing UGTA. With increasing global warming, catastrophic floods have threatened people's lives seriously and caused huge economic losses. However, present water hazard alarming systems generally rely on commercial batteries, limiting the intelligent development of disaster prevention planning and maintenance costs. In order to break the limitation, this work applies triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) to water hazard alarming. A spherical TENG device with four spiral units is designed to harvest water wave energy, and charge excitation modules (CEMs) are created and integrated with the TENG to improve its electric output. The output current and output power of the spherical TENG with CEMs can reach 15.09 mA and 24.48 mW, which are increased by 250.5 and 4.0 times, compared to the TENG without CEMs. Based on the charge excitation TENG, a self‐powered intelligent buoy is constructed. Utilizing the buoy to transmit 433 MHz radio frequency signals to 25 meters away, a water level alarm system and a water level information exchange system with a mobile phone are successfully realized. This work extends applications of TENGs toward water wave energy harvesting and provides a new strategy for water hazard alarming, which is conducive to the fields of carbon neutralization, Internet of Things, and disaster prevention. Background: Sepsis is defined as a systemic inflammatory response to microbial infections with multiple organ dysfunction. This study analysed untargeted metabolomics combined with proteomics of serum from patients with sepsis to reveal the underlying pathological mechanisms involved in sepsis. Methods: A total of 63 patients with sepsis and 43 normal controls were enrolled from a prospective multicentre cohort. The biological functions of the metabolome were assessed by coexpression network analysis. A molecular network based on metabolomics and proteomics data was constructed to investigate the key molecules. Results: Untargeted metabolomics analysis revealed widespread dysregulation of amino acid metabolism, which regulates inflammation and immunity, in patients with sepsis. Seventy-three differentially expressed metabolites (|log2 fold change| > 1.5, adjusted P value < 0.05 and variable importance in the projection (VIP) > 1.5) that could predict sepsis were identified. External validation of the hub metabolites was consistent with the derivation results (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC): 0.81–0.96/0.62–1.00). The pentose phosphate pathway was found to be related to sepsis-associated encephalopathy. Phenylalanine metabolism was associated with sepsis-associated acute kidney injury. The key molecular alterations of the multiomics network in sepsis compared to normal controls implicate acute inflammatory response, platelet degranulation, myeloid cell activation involved in immune response and phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan biosynthesis, and arginine biosynthesis. Conclusions: Integrated analysis of untargeted metabolomics and proteomics revealed characteristic metabolite and protein alterations in sepsis, which were mainly involved in inflammation-related pathways and amino acid metabolism. A category of metamaterials consisting of chiral cytosolic elements assembled periodically, in which the introduction of a rotatable annular structure gives metamaterials the ability to deform in compression–shear, has been a focus of research in recent years. In this paper, a compression–shear coupling model is developed to predict the compressive deformation behaviour of chiral metamaterials. This behaviour will be analysed by coupling the rotation of the annular node and the bending characteristics of ligament beam, which are obtained as a function of the length of ligament beam and the angle of rotation at the end of the beam. The shape function of the ligament beam under large deformation is obtained based on the elliptic integral theory; the function characterises the potential relationship between key parameters such as displacement and rotation angle at any point on the ligament beam. By simulating the deformation of cells under uniaxial compression, the reasonableness of the large deformation model of the ligament beam is verified. On this basis, a chiral cell-compression mechanical model considering the ductile deformation of the annular node is established. The compression–shear deformation of two-dimensional planar chiral metamaterials and three-dimensional cylindrical-shell chiral metamaterials was predicted; the offset displacements and torsion angles agreed with the experimental and finite element simulation results with an error of less than 10%. The developed compression–shear coupling model provides a theoretical basis for the design of chiral metamaterials, which meet the need for the precise control of shapes and properties. • Energetic sea ice drift occurs under negative phase of Arctic Oscillation with positive phase of Arctic Dipole. • Wind-ice stress dominates ice floes away from islands and continents. • Balance exists between internal ice stress and sea surface height gradient in thick multiyear ice zone. By analyzing an Arctic ice-ocean coupled simulation, we study the linkage between wintertime sea ice drift and atmospheric circulation, and interpret the driving force terms in the sea ice dynamic equation. Sea ice drift anomaly is featured by an anticyclonic (cyclonic) gyre when regulated by negative (positive) phase of Arctic Oscillation with positive (negative) phase of Arctic Dipole, and a quasi-meridional stream from Chukchi-Beaufort (Barents-Kara) Seas to Barents-Kara (Chukchi-Beaufort) Seas when regulated by positive (negative) phase of Arctic Oscillation with positive (negative) phase of Arctic Dipole. Sea ice drift anomaly, when regulated by the mode alone, resembles spatial pattern of leading atmospheric mode. Decomposing sea ice dynamical equation shows that wind-ice stress dominates sea ice drift in areas away from islands and continental coastlines, ocean-ice stress acts as a resistant power to partly cancel the wind-ice stress in these areas, while in the coastal areas such as the thick multiyear ice zone north of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, the wind-ice and ocean-ice stresses are small, the balance exists between sea surface height potential gradient and internal ice stress divergence. The extreme Arctic sea ice minima in the twenty-first century have been attributed to multiple factors, such as anomalous atmospheric circulation, excess solar radiation absorbed by open ocean, and thinning sea ice in a warming world. Most likely it is the combination of these factors that drives the extreme sea ice minima, but how the factors rank in setting the conditions for these events has not been quantified. To address this question, the sea ice budget of an Arctic regional sea ice–ocean model forced by atmospheric reanalysis data is analyzed to assess the development of the observed sea ice minima. Results show that the ice area difference in the years 2012, 2019, and 2007 is driven to over 60% by the difference in summertime sea ice area loss due to air–ocean heat flux over open water. Other contributions are small. For the years 2012 and 2020 the situation is different and more complex. The air–ice heat flux causes more sea ice area loss in summer 2020 than in 2012 due to warmer air temperatures, but this difference in sea ice area loss is compensated by reduced advective sea ice loss out of the Arctic Ocean mainly caused by the relaxation of the Arctic dipole. The difference in open water area in early August leads to different air–ocean heat fluxes, which distinguishes the sea ice minima in 2012 and 2020. Further, sensitivity experiments indicate that both the atmospheric circulation associated with the Arctic dipole and extreme storms are essential conditions for a new low record of sea ice extent. The research was aimed at analyzing the value of the optimized eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) algorithm-based ultrasound cardiogram images in the diagnosis of pregnant hypertension patients. A total of 145 pregnant women (85 cases suffered from hypertension disease during pregnancy and 60 other normal women were healthy) were selected as the reference to the comparison and analysis of ultrasound cardiac function parameter, common carotid artery parameter, and the coupling relationship between hearts and cervical vessels of pregnant hypertension patients. The results demonstrated ultrasound cardiac function parameter of pregnant hypertension patients as follows. The maximum volume of the left atrium (LAVmax) was 35.65 mm, left ventricular end-systolic volume (LVESV) was 31.07 mm, and left ventricular end-diastolic volume (LVEDV) was 88.73 mm. All the above indexes were obviously higher than those of the normal control group (P < 0.05). Besides, intima-media thickness (IMT) of common carotid artery (465.84 μm), pulse wave velocity (PWV) (8.09 m/s), pressure of turning point 1 from isovolumic contraction phase to ejection phase (PT1) (126.5 mmHg), arterial enhancement pressure (AP) (6.14 mmHg), and arterial pressure enhancement index (8.58%) were all significantly higher than those of the normal control group (P < 0.05). In addition, the correlation between the coupling (E / A) of hearts and carotid artery of pregnant hypertension patients and PWV was not obvious (r = − 0.08432 , P > 0.05). The results of the research indicated that intima-media inside carotid artery of pregnant hypertension patients thickened obviously, and it became less elastic compared with that of normal healthy pregnant women. What is more, cardiac morphological changes were manifested mainly as the enlargement of the left atrial chamber and the thickening of the interventricular septum. Volume load and blood flow velocity both increased, and left ventricular diastolic function was damaged. Early determination of the prognosis of patients with hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF) is important to guide clinical management and decrease mortality. The aim of this study was to develop a new simplified prognostic score to accurately predict outcomes in patients with HBV-ACLF. Prospective clinical data from 2,409 hospitalized patients with acute deterioration of HBV-related chronic liver disease were used to develop a new prognostic score that was validated in an external group. A total of 954 enrolled patients with HBV-ACLF were diagnosed based on the Chinese Group on the Study of Severe Hepatitis B-ACLF (COSSH-ACLF) criteria. Six predictive factors were significantly related to 28-day mortality and constituted a new prognostic score (=1.649×ln(international normalized ratio)+0.457×hepatic encephalopathy score+0.425×ln(neutrophil)+0.396×ln(total bilirubin)+0.576×ln(serum urea)+0.033×age). The C-indices of the new score for 28-/90-day mortality (0.826/0.809) were significantly higher than those of 4 other scores (COSSH-ACLF, 0.793/0.784; CLIF-C ACLF, 0.792/0.770; MELD, 0.731/0.727; MELD-Na, 0.730/0.726; all p <0.05). The prediction error rates of the new score for 28-day mortality were significantly lower than those of the 4 other scores: COSSH-ACLF (15.9%), CLIF-C ACLF (16.3%), MELD (35.3%) and MELD-Na (35.6%). The probability density function evaluation and risk stratification of the new score also showed the highest predictive values for mortality. These results were then validated in an external cohort. A new prognostic score based on 6 predictors, without an assessment of organ failure, can accurately predict short-term mortality in patients with HBV-ACLF and might be used to guide clinical management. Background: Optimal sagittal alignment of the femoral prosthesis is critical to the success of total knee arthroplasty (TKA). While robotic-assisted TKA can improve alignment accuracy, the efficacy of default femoral alignment versus individualized alignment remains under scrutiny. This study aimed to compare the differences in prosthetic alignment, anatomical restoration, and clinical outcomes between individualized femoral sagittal alignment and default sagittal alignment in robotic-assisted TKA. Methods: In a prospective randomised controlled trial, 113 patients (120 knees) underwent robotic-assisted TKA were divided into two groups: 61 with individualized femoral flexion (individualized alignment group) and 59 with default 3–5° flexion (default alignment group). The individualized alignment was based on the distal femoral sagittal anteverted angle (DFSAA), defined as the angle between the mechanical and distal anatomical axes of the femur. The radiographic and clinical outcomes were compared. Results: Despite similar postoperative femoral flexion angles between groups (P = 0.748), the individualized alignment group exhibited significantly lower incidences of femoral prosthesis extension and higher rates of optimal 0–3° prosthesis flexion (9.8% vs. 27.1%, P = 0.014,78.7% vs. 55.9%, p = 0.008, respectively). The individualized alignment group also demonstrated more favourable changes in sagittal anatomy, with higher maintenance of postoperative anterior femoral offset within 1 mm (54.1% vs. 33.9%, P = 0.026) and posterior condylar offset within 1 mm and 2 mm (44.3% vs. 25.4%, p = 0.031,73.8% vs. 50.8%, p = 0.010, respectively). Although slight improvement in the Hospital for Special Surgery Knee Score (HSS) at three months was observed (P = 0.045), it did not reach a minimal clinically important difference. Conclusion: Individualized tailoring of femoral sagittal alignment in robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty (TKA) enhances prosthetic alignment and anatomical restoration, suggesting potential improvements in postoperative outcomes. The internet of things in the context of the ocean is vitally important. For ships sailing on the wide ocean in adverse weather conditions, evasion of marine islands and reefs is crucial to ensure safe navigation. Here, a hybrid wave energy harvesting nanogenerator is proposed (HW‐NG) as a power source for long‐distance wireless transmission, and demonstrated a self‐powered route avoidance warning system for ocean navigation. The HW‐NG is developed based on a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) and an electromagnetic generator (EMG), integrated by a pendulum structure. The TENG based on a contact‐separation mode is designed into a spring‐assisted multilayered structure, in which the EMG unit is well hybridized. Simply relying on the energy extracted from water waves, the HW‐NG can establish long‐distance (1.5 km) communication nodes on the sea. In application, a large HW‐NG network could be developed in the adjacent water areas of islands or reefs. With a network formed by hundreds of thousands of HW‐NGs, the forewarning signal transmission could be realized per second on the sea. More importantly, the wireless emitting is spontaneous through the designed automatic switch module. Co3O4/CeO2 multi-shelled nanospheres with various Ce/Co ratios for low temperature CO oxidation were fabricated by using a bimetallic coordination polymer as a self-sacrificial template. The obtained Co0.9Ce0.1O2−δ catalyst exhibited superior CO oxidation performance, which reached 100% conversion at 80 °C. After five-cycle tests, the conversion could also be maintained at approximately 100% with almost no activity loss. Furthermore, the effects of the CeO2 component on catalytic performance have been investigated by various advanced physicochemical characterization methods. This indicated that the addition of cerium can significantly increase the surface area, so as to enrich the oxygen vacancies and provide a higher degree of accessible active sites. Despite extensive research into lead-free ceramics to achieve excellent dielectric properties and good energy storage performance, the primary challenge of low energy density remains unresolved. Here, a relaxor ferroelectric (1- x)Ba 0.7 Sr 0.3 TiO 3 - x Bi(Mg 0.5 Ti 0.5)O 3 [(1- x)BST- x BMT] was designed and prepared using a solid-state method, where x = 0.05, 0.15, 0.20, 0.25. It revealed that the introduction of BMT reduces the average grain size, resulting in a decrease and broadening of the dielectric constant peaks. This modification enhanced the breakdown field strength (E b) of BST ceramics. An effective energy storage density of 2.44 J/cm³ and an energy storage efficiency of 76.25 % ware achieved in 0.80BST-0.20BMT ceramic at an electric field of 300 kV/cm. Furthermore, the recoverable energy density and energy efficiency of the 0.80BST-0.20BMT ceramic exhibited excellent frequency stability over a frequency from 5 Hz to 500 Hz. We examined this association at both the behavioral and neural levels with two experiments. In Experiment 1, we assessed 188 participants (91 girls), averaging 37.74 months old, using maternal self-report questionnaire for screen time and Day-Night Task for IC measurement. In experiment 2, we evaluated 42 participants (24 girls), averaging 41.24 months old, using maternal self-report questionnaires for screen time, a modified version Flanker task for IC, and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to measure neural activity during IC task. Results from Experiment 1 indicated a negative correlation between young children's screen media use time and IC, with high users performing worse IC performance than low users. Experiment 2 confirmed these findings and revealed marginally reduced activation in the left PFC among high users compared to low users, with a moderate effect size and weak supporting evidence. These preliminary results underscore a detrimental association between screen media use and IC, emphasizing the significance of restricting screen exposure in young children to prevent overexposure. We aim to determine the impact of an artificial liver support system (ALSS) treatment before liver transplantation (LT), and identify the prognostic factors and evaluate the predictive values of the current commonly used ACLF prognostic models for short-term prognosis after LT. Data from 166 patients who underwent LT with acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) were retrospectively collected from January 2011 to December 2018 from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. Patients were divided into two groups depending on whether they received ALSS treatment pre-LT. In the observation group, liver function tests and prognostic scores were significantly lower after ALSS treatment, and the waiting time for a donor liver was significantly longer than that of the control group. Both intraoperative blood loss and period of postoperative ICU care were significantly lower; however, there were no significant differences between groups in terms of total postoperative hospital stays. Postoperative 4-week and 12-week survival rates in the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group. Similar trends were also observed at 48 and 96 weeks, however, without significant difference. Multivariate Cox regression analysis of the risk factors related to prognosis showed that preoperative ALSS treatment, neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio, and intraoperative blood loss were independent predicting factors for 4-week survival rate after transplantation. ALSS treatment combined with LT in patients with HBV-related ACLF improved short-term survival. ALSS treatment pre-LT is an independent protective factor affecting the 4-week survival rate after LT. The Arctic regional coupled sea-ice–ocean–atmosphere model (ArcIOAM) has been developed to provide reliable Arctic sea ice prediction on seasonal timescales. The description and implementation of ArcIOAM and its preliminary results for the year of 2012 are presented in this paper. In the ArcIOAM configuration, the Community Coupler 2 (C-Coupler2) is used to couple the Arctic sea-ice–oceanic configuration of the MITgcm (Massachusetts Institute of Technology general circulation model) with the Arctic atmospheric configuration of the Polar WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting) model. A scalability test is performed to investigate the parallelization of the coupled model. As the first step toward reliable Arctic seasonal sea ice prediction, ArcIOAM, implemented with two-way coupling strategy along with one-way coupling strategy, is evaluated with respect to available observational data and reanalysis products for the year of 2012. A stand-alone MITgcm run with prescribed atmospheric forcing is performed for reference. From the comparison, all the experiments simulate reasonable evolution of sea ice and ocean states in the Arctic region over a 1-year simulation period. The two-way coupling has better performance in terms of sea ice extent, concentration, thickness and sea surface temperature (SST), especially in summer. Creating lightweight and impact-resistant box structures has been an enduring pursuit among researchers. A new energy-absorbing structure consisting of a bionic gradient lattice-enhanced thin-walled tube is presented in this article. The gradient lattice and thin-walled tube were prepared using selective laser melting (SLM) and wire-cutting techniques, respectively. To analyze the effects of gradient pattern, mass ratio, diameter range and impact speed on structural crashworthiness, low-speed impact at 4 m/s and finite element simulation experiments were conducted. The study demonstrates that the design of inward radial gradient lattice-reinforced thin-walled tubes can effectively enhance structure's energy-absorption efficiency and provide a more stable mode of deformation. It also shows a 17.44% specific energy-absorption advantage over the uniformly lattice-reinforced thin-walled tubes, with no significant overall gain in peak crushing force. A complex scale evaluation method was used to determine the optimum structure and the structure type with the best crashworthiness was found to be a gradient lattice-filled tube with a thickness of 0.9 mm and a slope index of 10. Ocean waves are considered to be one of the most promising renewable energy sources, and harvesting such energy via triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) is an effective strategy toward large‐scale blue energy. However, most previous optimization schemes of TENG cannot meet the demands of practical applications. In this work, a new charge excitation circuit (CEC) with advantages of integration, high efficiency, and minimum impedance is developed specially for TENGs to harvest water wave energy. The TENG with the CEC exhibits significantly improved output performance, with a maximum power of 25.8 mW and power density of 49.3 W m−3, and a 208 times enhanced current of 25.1 mA is achieved. Furthermore, a scheme of integrating TENG network and CECs is proposed for realizing large‐scale wave energy harvesting. The charge excitation TENG network is demonstrated to successfully power a digital thermometer and a wireless communication system with mobile phone through transmitting radio frequency (RF) signals for remote environmental monitoring. This study not only offers a strategy to greatly enhance the output performance of TENG networks in water wave energy harvesting, but also provides useful guidance for constructing maritime communication platform based on blue energy toward a maritime internet of things system. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been widely applied to various fields, facing mass imagery data, object detection in UAV imagery is under extensive research for its significant status in both theoretical study and practical applications. In order to achieve the accurate object detection in UAV imagery on the premise of real-time processing, a coarse-to-fine object detection method for UAV imagery using lightweight convolutional neural network (CNN) and deep motion saliency is proposed in this paper. The proposed method includes three steps: (1) Key frame extraction using image similarity measurement is performed on the UAV imagery to accelerate the successive object detection procedure; (2) Deep features are extracted by PeleeNet, a lightweight CNN, to achieve the coarse object detection on the key frames; (3) LiteFlowNet and objects prior knowledge is utilized to analyze the deep motion saliency map, which further helps to refine the detection results. The detection results on key frames propagate to the temporally nearest non-key frames to achieve the fine detection. Five experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method on Stanford drone dataset (SDD). This article deals with a single-machine resource allocation scheduling problem with deteriorating jobs. Under a group technology environment, the actual processing times of jobs are a convex resource allocation function of their starting time and the amount of resource allocation. The objective is to minimize the weighted sum of makespan and resource allocation cost. For two special cases, it is proved that the problem can be solved in polynomial time. For the general case of the problem, heuristic and branch-and-bound procedures are developed to solve the problem. The hollow cylindrical nanohydroxyapatite/polyamide 66 strut (n-HA/PA66) has been used clinically for anterior cervical reconstruction. However, rates of occurrence of a "radiolucent gap" between the dense strut and adjacent endplates were reported. The aim of this in vivo study was to evaluate the viability and advantages of the novel porous n-HA/PA66 strut. The goat C3/4 partial discectomy and fusion model was built, and two groups of n-HA/PA66 struts were implanted into C3/4: group 1, porous n-HA/PA66 strut; and group 2, hollow cylindrical n-HA/PA66 strut filled with autogenous cancellous bone. CT evaluation was performed to assess the fusion status after 12 and 24 weeks. The cervical spines were harvested. Histomorphological analysis was performed to determine new bone formation. Biomechanical testing was performed to determine range of motion (ROM). CT confirmed the disappearance of the boundary of the porous strut and host bone, while the radiolucent gap remained clearly discernible in the dense strut group. The mean CT fusion scores of the porous group were significantly higher. Histologic evaluation showed that the porous struts promoted better osteointegration. Calcein fluorochrome labelling indicated faster bone ingrowth in the porous struts. Biomechanical tests revealed that the porous struts had significantly reduced micromotion. Objects in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) images are generally small due to the high-photography altitude. Although many efforts have been made in object detection, how to accurately and quickly detect small objects is still one of the remaining open challenges. In this paper, we propose a feature fusion and scaling-based single shot detector (FS-SSD) for small object detection in the UAV images. The FS-SSD is an enhancement based on FSSD, a variety of the original single shot multibox detector (SSD). We add an extra scaling branch of the deconvolution module with an average pooling operation to form a feature pyramid. The original feature fusion branch is adjusted to be better suited to the small object detection task. The two feature pyramids generated by the deconvolution module and feature fusion module are utilized to make predictions together. In addition to the deep features learned by the FS-SSD, to further improve the detection accuracy, spatial context analysis is proposed to incorporate the object spatial relationships into object redetection. The interclass and intraclass distances between different object instances are computed as a spatial context, which proves effective for multiclass small object detection. Six experiments are conducted on the PASCAL VOC dataset and the two UAV image datasets. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve a comparable detection speed but an accuracy superior to those of the six state-of-the-art methods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Since azoxymethane (AOM)-dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) induced tumorigenesis was used to explore inflammation-associated carcinogenesis of sporadic colorectal cancer (CRC), different administration modes of AOM or DSS have been reported. In this article we optimized the protocol of the AOM-DSS modeling using C57BL/6 mice for study on sporadic CRC by intraperitoneal injecting AOM solution at a proper concentration with a 100 μl sterile syringe once, feeding with DSS solution for 7 days in a roll and change DSS solution every day. More than 100 C57BL/6 mice had been treated with the optimized protocol, and all mice were demonstrated suffering from colorectal tumors when sacrificed in 8 to 20 weeks after AOM injection. These tumors mainly occurred in distal segment of colorectum with an increase in tumor density, which was similar to CRC in human beings. Tumor per mouse was high, and variation of tumor number per mouse was low. The histology of tumor developed through the defined stage ranged from precursor lesions, adenomatous lesions, adenomas to adenocarcinomas. Information on the effects of phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S) applications on crop response and soil-P status of two-row malt barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) under high-input conditions are limited in alkaline soils despite widespread fertilizer-P and -S use. A field study was conducted during the 2015 and 2016 growing seasons where the barley cultivars (ABI-Voyager and Moravian 69) were grown at five rates of P (0, 37, 73, 110, and 147 kg P ha−1) and three rates of S (0, 112, 224 kg S ha−1). ABI-Voyager had significantly greater biological yield (17,023 kg ha−1) and grain yield (7433 kg ha−1) but a lower (44%) harvest index (HI) than Moravian 69 (15,037 kg ha−1, 7168 kg ha−1 and 49%, respectively). Grain yield increased with rate of P-application until 37 kg P ha−1 where the maximum calculated yield was obtained at 98 kg P ha−1 by a quadratic model. Sulfur application had no significant effect on any of the measured crop or soil parameters. Olsen P increased linearly with greater fertilizer-P applications, indicating grain-P removal was not sufficient to reduce or retain STP concentrations at initial levels when P was applied. Crop-P uptake and soil-P response to fertilizer P applications are important, as remaining soil P is available for subsequent crop usage and may have potential negative environmental impacts. Thus, cultivar selection and appropriate fertilizer-P and S management will ensure optimal agronomic and economic returns while minimizing potentially negative environmental impacts for two-row malt barley produced in the western United States. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of feeding decoction of a traditional nourishing Chinese herbal medicine formula on rates of plasma phenylalanine and tyrosine turnover and whole body protein synthesis in sheep. Ruminal fermentation characteristics and blood metabolites were also determined. Six sheep were subjected to either mixed hay (MH‐diet, as control) or MH‐diet supplemented with 2% of Chinese herbal medicine (mixture of Astragalus root, Angelica root, and Atractylodes rhizome; CHM‐diet) in a crossover design for each of 3‐week period. The isotope dilution of [2H5]phenylalanine and [2H2]tyrosine was performed as a primed‐continuous infusion to measure plasma phenylalanine and tyrosine kinetics. Concentrations of total volatile fatty acid, acetate, and propionate in the rumen tended to be higher (p < 0.10), and the pH value was lower (p = 0.04) for the CHM‐diet than the MH‐diet. Turnover rates of plasma phenylalanine and tyrosine tended to be higher (p < 0.10) for the CHM‐diet than the MH‐diet. Furthermore, whole body protein synthesis was greater (p = 0.04) for the CHM‐diet compared with the MH‐diet. The Chinese herbal medicine improved rumen fermentation and enhanced protein metabolism in sheep. Using a longitudinal design, this study examined the associations between infant temperamental withdrawal and behavior problems during toddlerhood and tested the moderating effects of maternal sensitivity to infant distress (MSID) and toddlers' ability to delay gratification (ADG) in urban Chinese families. Participants were 84 Chinese children (37 boys, 47 girls) and their mothers. When the infants were 6 months old (T1: infancy), their mothers reported their temperamental withdrawal, and research assistants observed and coded MSID by using a subscale of the Maternal Behavior Q‐Sort during free‐play interaction. When the toddlers were 1 year old (T2: early toddlerhood), their mothers reported their internalizing and externalizing problems. When the toddlers were 2 years old (T3: late toddlerhood), their mothers again reported their internalizing and externalizing problems, and their abilities of delay gratification were assessed through a laboratory‐based procedure. Infant temperamental withdrawal was associated with increased internalizing problems in early toddlerhood and increased externalizing problems during middle to late toddlerhood; infants whose mothers were extremely high sensitive or low sensitive to their distress or those with late poor ability of delay gratification were at particular risk. Barley yellow dwarf (BYD) is one of the most common diseases of cereal crops, caused by the phloem‐limited, cereal aphid‐borne Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) (Luteoviridae). Delayed planting and controlling aphid vector numbers with insecticides have been the primary approaches to manage BYD. There is limited research on nitrogen (N) application effects on plant growth, N status, and water use in the BYDV pathosystem in the absence of aphid control. Such information will be essential in developing a post‐infection management plan for BYDV‐infected cereals. Through a greenhouse study, we assessed whether manipulation of N supply to BYDV‐infected winter wheat, Triticum aestivum L. (Poaceae), in the presence or absence of the aphid vector Rhopalosiphum padi L. (Hemiptera: Aphididae), could improve N and/or water uptake, and subsequently promote plant growth. Similar responses of shoot biomass and of water and N use efficiencies to various N application rates were observed in both BYDV‐infected and non‐infected plants, suggesting that winter wheat plants with only BYDV infection may be capable of outgrowing infection by the virus. Plants, which simultaneously hosted aphids and BYDV, suffered more severe symptoms and possessed higher virus loads than those infected with BYDV only. Moreover, in plants hosting both BYDV and aphids, aphid pressure was positively associated with N concentration within plant tissue, suggesting that N application and N concentration within foliar tissue may alter BYDV replication indirectly through their influence on aphid reproduction. Even though shoot biomass, tissue N concentration, and water use efficiency increased in response to increased N application, decision‐making on N fertilization to plants hosting both BYDV and aphids should take into consideration the potential of aphid outbreak and/or the possibility of reduced plant resilience to environmental stresses due to decreased root growth. This work evaluates the effects of nitrogen supply on Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) titer and disease progress in winter wheat. Nitrogen supply did not affect BYDV titer but could promote multiplication of the vector aphid Rhopalosiphum padi (Hemiptera: Aphididae). As nitrogen may also reduce early‐stage root development, it is suggested that ideally nitrogen application in high‐risk BYDV areas is conducted when aphids are absent, or following aphid control. This study considers a single machine group scheduling problem with deteriorating jobs and resource allocation (controllable processing times). The objective is to have the resource availability limited within a given range, and to minimize the maximum completion time (i.e. the makespan). The triple-shape memory effect (triple-SME) in amorphous polymers arises from the heterogeneous glass transitions of different components. However, due to the complex composition and structural relaxation of triple-shape memory polymers (triple-SMPs), existing models struggle to characterize the shape memory temperature range for each component and its dependence on thermal history. This presents a challenge in developing a kinetic criterion to judge the occurrence of the triple-SME. To address this issue, we propose a kinetic phase transition model to predict the shape memory temperature range for each transition phase in triple-SMPs under different thermal histories. By combining the Tool-Narayanaswamy-Moynihan (TNM) model with the Adam-Gibbs theory, the effect of cooling rate during programming on subsequent triple-SME is investigated. Subsequently, the effectiveness of the proposed model is evaluated by applying it to predict the shape memory performance and thermomechanical behavior of SMPs with dual- and triple- SMEs under different thermal histories. Using this modeling strategy enables the calculation of the critical isothermal shape recovery time for each transition phase under different thermal histories, effectively preventing shape recovery overlap. Consequently, the proposed model is expected to provide theoretical guidance for designing SMPs with triple-SME and promoting their application in engineering. Abstract: Making use of water wave energy at large is one of the most attractive, low‐carbon, and renewable ways to generate electric power. The emergence of triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) provides a new approach for effectively harvesting such low‐frequency, irregular, and “random” energy. In this work, a TENG array consisting of spherical TENG units based on spring‐assisted multilayered structure is devised to scavenge water wave energy. The introduction of spring structure enhances the output performance of the spherical TENG by transforming low‐frequency water wave motions into high‐frequency vibrations, while the multilayered structure increases the space utilization, leading to a higher output of a spherical unit. Owing to its unique structure, the output current of one spherical TENG unit could reach 120 µA, which is two orders of magnitude larger than that of previous rolling spherical TENG, and a maximum output power up to 7.96 mW is realized as triggered by the water waves. The TENG array fabricated by integrating four units is demonstrated to successfully drive dozens of light‐emitting diodes and power an electronic thermometer. The present study aimed to investigate the role of leptin in the growth of breast cancer. In the present study, expression of leptin in tumor tissues and adjacent tissues was detected by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Serum leptin in patients with breast cancer and normal healthy controls was detected by ELISA. Different concentrations of leptin were used to treat breast cancer cells, and cell proliferation was detected by cell proliferation assay. Interactions between leptin and Wnt/β-catenin were evaluated by western blotting. It was demonstrated that expression of leptin mRNA was significantly higher in tumor tissues than in adjacent tissues in 43 out of 48 patients. Serum level of leptin was significantly higher in patients with breast cancer than in normal controls. Leptin promoted the proliferation of breast cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner. Leptin significantly increased the expression level of β-catenin in breast cancer cells. Treatment with Wnt inhibitor reduced the enhancing effects of leptin on proliferation of breast cancer cells. The results of the present study therefore indicate that leptin may promote the growth of breast cancer by upregulating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
