This study aimed at providing dynamism to the use of digital technological resources to qualify the teaching practice through a pedagogical intervention carried out at a municipal primary school located in the town of Jaguarão/RS. The intervention occurred through training meetings proposed to teachers in the initial years of school, carried out at the school, in the year of 2014. At these meetings, the teachers had contact with the digital technological resources during a determined period along the school year. The methodological procedure was the one of the proposal of intervention based on qualitative data pointed out by the subjects directly involved in the process and based on the methodology of intervention projects. The Data was collected through interviews. This research-intervention work favored the contact of the teachers with the technological resources available at the school so that they could, after acquiring such knowledge, add it to their teaching practices. The aim of this paper is to discuss issues related to body image among undergraduate students in Physical Education and Nutrition programs at a public university in the city of Rio de Janeiro. This study has a socio-anthropological nature in the field of Public Health. The methodological strategy was to articulate participant observation and informal and formal interviews with these students. We found that the students feel pressured to be role models of good eating habits and body practices; in other words, to have behaviors considered as healthy. In addition, they must have a body image that meets the current esthetic standards. This is a discourse that prevails among them, both inside and outside the academic environment. Values relative to youth, sex and body esthetics are mobilized in such environment and associated with social life, distinctive positions in a strongly hierarchical society, and reactions to social norms and rules, among other features in the consumer society, where body image worship tends to be hegemonic. Lipoma arborescens is a rare and benign intra-articular lesion of unknown etiology; it is characterized by synovial villous proliferation and sub-synovial connective tissue replacement by mature fatty tissue. It is part of the differential diagnosis in patients with an articulation affected by a slow, progressive, and chronically inflamed affection. We report primary knee involvement in a patient without significant articulate antecedents. The present study aimed to investigate the historical origins of the Philosophy of Physical Education and Sports in Brazil. The writings of Inezil Penna Marinho, former Professor of the University of Brazil between 1945 and 1984, were the first on this specific content in Brazil. Data collection resulted in six thematic categories, namely “Comments on Translated Fragments”, “Philology of Physical Education and Sports”, “Games, Hedonism and Transfiguration”, “Leisure and Axiology”, “Philosophy of Curricular Physical Education”, and “Metaphysics of Brain”. Marinho was an Eclectic, Foundationalist, and Casuistic philosopher. In his texts, Physical Education got ethical, axiological, aesthetical, epistemic, psychoanalytical, educational, political, and metaphysical attributes. Additionally, Marinho developed dialogues with authors from Aristotelianism, Platonism, Renaissance, Enlightenment, Evolutionism, Empirism, Freudism, Critical Theory, Hedonism, Platonic Theology, Stoicism, Cartesianism, and Bergsonism. Five classical issues appeared in his production: happiness as a transcendental demand; nature of the correspondence between language and reality; duality mind-body; historical conflict between freedom and domination; constitution of the subject. For him, gymnastics seemed to be higher in axiological importance than sports, games, and general physical activity. Background. Highlights High-Intensity Long Interval Training (HILIT) and Sprint Interval Training (SIT) to morpho functional improvement and reduce effects of Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD) and the Metabolic Syndrome (MS). Objective. This study aims to verify the effects of HILIT and SIT on physiological and pathological markers of MS and liver health in adults submitted to 12 weeks of training. Methods. A randomized clinical trial was carried out with a design for two groups, HILIT and SIT Groups. The sample consisted of 38 physical activity practitioners male adults aged between 30 and 55 years (42.75 ± 8.26). Body composition assessments, cardiac stress tests, measurements of blood pressure (BP), and blood samples were analyzed: triglycerides (TRIG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) and glucose (GLU) and liver damage: Albumin (ALB), Bilirubin (BIL), Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), Alamine Aminotransferase (ALT), Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT). Results. For HILIT there was a significant intragroup improvement in the parameters of fat mass, lean mass, body mass index (BMI), visceral adipose fat (VAT), GLU, ALB, Direct Bilirubin (DB), distance run, and oxygen consumption (VO2). For SIT there was a significant intragroup improvement in the parameters of VAT, GLU, ALB, DB, GGT, and distance run. There was a significant difference in the intergroup comparison only for BP in favor of the SIT group. Conclusions. We conclude that 12 weeks of HILIT and SIT interval training were able to produce positive effects on body composition variables, aerobic capacity, Metabolic Syndrome, and Liver Health in physical activity practitioners adult men, with better results for HILIT in this population. Background. Blood flow restriction (BFR) is a technique that utilizes inflatable cuffs to partially restrict arterial inflow and modulate venous flow in the active musculature through gradual mechanical compression. Objective. This systematic review aimed to analyze the effects of resistance training (RT) with BFR on muscle strength and biomarkers in older individuals. Methods. This systematic review followed the PRISMA criteria. We searched MEDLINE (via PubMed), Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect databases for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that investigated muscle strength and biomarkers in older individuals submitted to physical exercise, specifically RT with BFR. Results. The initial database search yielded 423 publications based on our research methodology. After applying the selection criteria, 9 RCTs were included. The mean age of participants in the experimental group (EG) and control group (CG) was 69 years. The total sample size consisted of 339 participants (259 in the EG and 80 in the CG). The publication years of the included studies ranged from 2013 to 2022. The mean intervention duration across the studies was 11 weeks, with 3 sessions per week. Conclusions. Based on the RCTs included in this systematic review, RT with BFR has shown effectiveness in improving muscle strength, increasing muscle cross-sectional area, and enhancing biomarkers associated with protein synthesis. Fibromyalgia is a rheumatic syndrome that affects mainly women, reaching about 2% of the Brazilian population, being characterized mainly by chronic and diffuse musculoskeletal pain and 11 of 18 painful points to palpation. The diagnosis is predominantly clinical and marked by the absence of anatomical substrate, confronting Western medical rationality. The corporal health practices have been used as non-pharmacological therapy for patients with fibromyalgia. This research aimed to analyze the reception and humanization of care in the corporal health practices for women diagnosed with fibromyalgia participating in the extension program "Corporal Health Practices" (PRACORSAU), of Rio de Janeiro State University, Brazil. Open interviews were conducted with eight women diagnosed with fibromyalgia. The data analysis methodology used was based on Foucault's work The Order of Speech. It was verified, through the statements of the women, that PRACORSAU welcomes and promotes the bond between the women who integrate the activities. All people who arrive at a health service must have the identified need and get an immediate response to their situation. Objective: to analyze the diverse scientific evidence regarding the use of aromatherapy in reducing stress-related symptoms in the Nursing team. Method: an integrative literature review carried out on July 1st, 2022, based on the "Aromatherapy", "Stress" and "Nursing" descriptors and using the Rayyan platform to select the studies, all in charge of two independent researchers. Full-text and free digital access documents in Portuguese, English or Spanish were included, which analyzed aromatherapy and the population of interest separately. Results: twelve studies were included, with predominance of randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies. Inhalation aromatherapy with Lavandula angustifolia essential oil stood out. The use of a Control Group and multiple outcome measures were the criteria that presented the greatest weakness among the studies analyzed. Purpose: This study aimed to compare the techniques of myofascial release and static stretching on the handgrip strength of jiu-jitsu fighters. Methods: Ten jiu-jitsu athletes (age 29.9 ± 7.4 years; height 1.74 ± 0.06 m; body mass 77.50 ± 9.89 kg; BMI 25.63 ± 2.13 kg/m2) from an academy in the Lagos Region, RJ, Brazil, participated in this study. Left handgrip strength (LHS) and right handgrip strength (RHS) were analyzed through a dynamometer. Participants underwent manual myofascial release, myofascial release with suction cups, and maximum static stretching. The techniques were applied in three days with an interval of 1 week each, with random drawing, on the day of the intervention. Results: No significant differences were found between the measurements of the dynamometry values after the manual myofascial release and myofascial release with suction cups; however, the handgrip measures concerning the static stretching were reduced (LHS: p < 0.001; RHS: p = 0.002). It was observed that the technique of maximum static stretching showed a significant reduction in the left handgrip strength (Δ% LHS) when compared to the manual myofascial release (p = 0.004) and the myofascial release with suction cups (p = 0.049). There were no significant differences between the myofascial release techniques. Conclusion: Myofascial release did not affect handgrip strength. However, the use of maximum static stretching showed a reduction in handgrip strength in the non-dominant hand of the jiu-jitsu fighters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

• Resistance training (RT) promotes changes in muscle architecture in older adults. • The thickness of the medial gastrocnemius increased after intervention with RT. • RT showed no effect on the fasciculus and pennation angle and vastus lateralis. • Training variables interfere with morphological adaptations in the elderly. Resistance training (RT) consists of planned exercise programs to increase muscle strength capacity through neural and structural adaptations, such as changes in the geometric arrangement of muscle fibers. This study aimed to analyze the influence of RT on muscle architecture in older people. This PROSPERO-registered systematic review and meta-analysis (identification number CRD42022340477) followed the PRISMA guidelines. Four electronic databases were searched for eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that observed older individuals submitted to RT programs that reported muscle architecture outcomes. Seventeen RCTs met the eligibility criteria with a total of 488 participants. The main results of the meta-analysis showed that RT interventions had a significant effect on the thickness of the medial gastrocnemius (SMD = 0.12; 95% CI: − 0.07 to 0.17; p < 0.00001; I2 = 0%). Based on available evidence, studies included in this review showed improvement in maximum isometric force, pennation angle, fascicle length, thickness, and muscle activation after RT interventions. In turn, the meta-analysis suggested a potential for improving the thickness of the medial gastrocnemius after the intervention. However, any clinical implications drawn from the analyses should be interpreted with caution, as these findings are substantially limited due to a low number of included studies and a potential heterogeneity between studies. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a 10-week core and mobility training program on pain perception and low back disability score in professors, students and employees of a university. METHODS: Twenty-four individuals of a university who previously reported pain and low back disability were randomly assigned to an experimental group (EG; n = 8) that received 2 weekly sessions of 50 minutes of core and mobility training for 10 weeks; or to a control group (CG; n = 16). Both groups received a guideline to adopt ergonomic postures during work and activities of daily living. The visual analog pain scale (VAS) and the Roland-Morris questionnaire (RMQ) were applied pre- and post intervention. RESULTS: Significant reductions in the pain intensity perception (p = 0.014) and low back functional disability (p = 0.011) were noted in the EG pre- and post measures. However, no significant difference was observed in the CG. Thus, there was a significant difference between the EG and the CG in the post-intervention measures (p = 0.001). CONCLUSION: Core and mobility training and home-ergonomic instructions were effective to reduce the pain intensity perception and low back functional disability in the EG. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present article aims to perform an integrative review of the literature with the objective of identifying the type of bariatric surgery (BS) and quality of life (QoL) evaluation tools most used, and analyze the main benefits of BS. This review included bibliographic databases PubMed, Virtual Health Library (BVS), ScienceDirect and SciELO. We used the descriptors "obesity", "bariatric surgery" and "quality of life", which were drawn from the key terms at 'Descritores em Ciências da Saúde' (DeCS). It was identified 393 studies, of which 39 were selected after full reading and according to the established inclusion criteria. Most of these studies shows that there is a general improvement in QoL perceived by patients in the late postoperative period. We conclude that one of the most effective ways to treat severe obesity is BS, which causes individuals to lose weight and treat obesity co-morbidities, in addition to lifestyle changes promoted by the new post-surgical habits. The aim of the study was to investigate the relation between physical activity level, body mass index (BMI) and the health concept of High School students in the city of Ipanema - MG. The collect was carried out through three moments: application of a questionnaire in order to verify the level of physical activity, stature and body mass collect, and application of an infographic in order to verify the health concept. Two hundred and forty-one (241) students took part in the study (age: 15.8 ± 0.9 years, body mass: 57.2 ± 7.7 kg, stature: 1.62 ± 0.07 m), of which 14.5% were overweight/obese. Most of the sample was considered physically active (156 ± 85.0 min/week of participation in physical activities). There was no statistically significant difference in BMI between the sexes. However, the boys presented a higher level of physical activity compared to girls. Only male students presented a positive correlation between the level of physical activity and BMI. It was observed a health concept more related to prevention in physically active students (64.4% vs. 25.5%) and more related to treatment in insufficiently active students (74.5% vs. 35.6%).
