The advent of immunotherapy and antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs) have revolutionized breast cancer treatment, offering new hope to patients. However, challenges, such as resistance and limited efficacy in certain cases, remain. Recently, the combination of these therapies has emerged as a promising approach to address these challenges. ADCs play a crucial role by delivering cytotoxic agents directly to breast cancer cells, minimizing damage to healthy tissue and enhancing the tumor-killing effect. Concurrently, immunotherapies harness the body's immune system to recognize and eliminate cancer cells. This integration offers potential to overcome resistance mechanisms and significantly improve therapeutic outcomes. In light of the ever‐increasing demand for lightweight materials suitable for heat transport applications, many efforts are devoted to enhancing the thermal properties of polymer‐based nanocomposites via nanofillers. In the present study, nanocomposites based on epoxy resin, including 3 wt% of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), are prepared and then thermally characterized. More in detail, it is investigated the temperature increase over time, due to the Joule heating effect, when different voltage values (70, 80, and 90 V) are applied to the specimens. These experimental measures validate a simulation study performed with commercial software (COMSOL Multiphysics®), which allows the investigation of several thermal aspects of the Joule heating. A perfect agreement between experimental and modeling data is found. This means that, in support of experimental activities, modern computational methods can add knowledge in materials science to discover new advanced materials or investigate the existing ones in depth. A recent simulation study of the transverse current autocorrelation of the Lennard-Jones fluid [Guarini et al., Phys. Rev. E 107, 014139 (2023)] revealed that this function can be perfectly described within the exponential expansion theory [Barocchi et al., Phys. Rev. E 85, 022102 (2012)]. However, above a certain wavevector Q, not only transverse collective excitations were found to propagate in the fluid, but a second oscillatory component of unclear origin (therefore called X) must be considered to fully account for the time dependence of the correlation function. Here, we present an extended investigation of the transverse current autocorrelation of liquid Au as obtained by ab initio molecular dynamics in the very wide range of wavevectors 5.7 ≤ Q ≤ 32.8 nm−1 in order to also follow the behavior of the X component, if present, at large Q values. A joint analysis of the transverse current spectrum and its self-portion indicates that the second oscillatory component arises from the longitudinal dynamics, as suggested by its close resemblance with the previously determined component accounting for the longitudinal part of the density of states. We conclude that such a mode, albeit featuring a merely transverse property, fingerprints the effect of longitudinal collective excitations on single-particle dynamics, rather than arising from a possible coupling between transverse and longitudinal acoustic waves. Due to their remarkable intrinsic physical properties, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) can enhance mechanical properties and confer electrical and thermal conductivity to polymers currently being investigated for use in advanced applications based on thermal management. An epoxy resin filled with varying concentrations of CNTs (up to 3 wt%) was produced and experimentally characterized. The electrical percolation curve identified the following two critical filler concentrations: 0.5 wt%, which is near the electrical percolation threshold (EPT) and suitable for exploring mechanical and piezoresistive properties, and 3 wt% for investigating thermo-electric properties due to the Joule effect with applied voltages ranging from 70 V to 200 V. Near the electrical percolation threshold (EPT), the CNT concentration in epoxy composites forms a sparse, sensitive network ideal for deformation sensing due to significant changes in electrical resistance under strain. Above the EPT, a denser CNT network enhances electrical and thermal conductivity, making it suitable for Joule heating applications. Numerical models were developed using multiphysics simulation software. Once the models have been validated with experimental data, as a perfect agreement is found between numerical and experimental results, a simulation study is performed to investigate additional physical properties of the composites. Furthermore, a statistical approach based on the design of experiments (DoE) was employed to examine the influence of certain thermal parameters on the final performance of the materials. The purpose of this research is to promote the use of contemporary statistical and computational techniques alongside experimental methods to enhance understanding of materials science. • Countries' participation in green Framework Programmes enhances green competitiveness. • Domestic green innovation positively moderate the impact of international green collaboration on green exports. • Network policies should be combined with innovation policies. This paper studies the impact of environmental research networks on green exports by providing a unique contribution to the studies on the role of collaborative innovation for international competitiveness. Specifically, we adopt the technology gap model of international trade to study the impact of green innovation and the participation in European environmental research programs on green exports for 26 European countries over the period 2003 - 2015. We find that both environmental innovation and research networks positively impact on green exports and that they have a complementary effect that highlights the importance of green absorptive capacity. Moreover, all institutional sectors involved in the networks (firms, universities and public research centers) matter for green competitiveness, with universities playing a major role for institutional complementarities. Plasma membrane (PM) H+-ATPases of the P-type family are highly conserved in yeast, other fungi, and plants. Their main role is to establish an H+ gradient driving active transport of small ions and metabolites across the PM and providing the main component of the PM potential. Furthermore, in both yeast and plant cells, conditions have been described under which active H+-ATPases promote activation of TORC1, the rapamycin-sensitive kinase complex controlling cell growth. Fungal and plant PM H+-ATPases are self-inhibited by their respective cytosolic carboxyterminal tails unless this domain is phosphorylated at specific residues. In the yeast H+-ATPase Pma1, neutralization of this autoinhibitory domain depends mostly on phosphorylation of the adjacent Ser911 and Thr912 residues, but the kinase(s) and phosphatase(s) controlling this tandem phosphorylation remain unknown. In this study, we show that S911-T912 phosphorylation in Pma1 is mediated by the largely redundant Ptk1 and Ptk2 kinase paralogs. Dephosphorylation of S911-T912, as occurs under glucose starvation, is dependent on the Glc7 PP1 phosphatase. Furthermore, proper S911-T912 phosphorylation in Pma1 is required for optimal TORC1 activation upon H+ influx coupled amino-acid uptake. We finally show that TORC1 controls S911-T912 phosphorylation in a manner suggesting that activated TORC1 promotes feedback inhibition of Pma1. Our results shed important new light on phosphoregulation of the yeast Pma1 H+-ATPase and on its interconnections with TORC1. Author summary: In all eukaryotic cells, the plasma membrane contains an abundant pump which catalyzes transport of specific ions at the expense of ATP. These ATPases of the P-type superfamily are crucial, as the ion gradient they establish across the membrane supports active uptake of nutrients and export of waste products of cell metabolism. Fungal and plant cells differ from animal cells in that the ion gradient that energizes their plasma membrane is composed of protons (H+) instead of sodium (Na+). The H+-ATPases establishing this H+ gradient are highly conserved and also contribute to regulating a kinase complex called TORC1 (Target of Rapamycin Complex 1), which plays a central role in controlling cell growth. The activity of plant and fungal H+-ATPases is regulated by a mechanism of self-inhibition mediated by their cytosol-facing C-terminal extremity. The inhibitory effect of this regulatory domain is neutralized by phosphorylation of specific residues. In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, two adjacent C-terminal residues, Ser911 and Thr912, are particularly important in controlling the activity of the main plasma membrane H+-ATPase, known as Pma1. This report describes identification of the long-sought kinases and phosphatases modulating phosphorylation of these two residues and reveals a potential contribution of TORC1 to feedback control of this double modification. There is ample evidence of bullying victimization-perpetration association. However, little is known about the role of socioemotional variables in reinforcing or mitigating it. There is a need to delve deeper into what victims feel and do that leads them to bully. This study aimed to analyze the moderating role of peer relationship management and anger regulation in the victimization-perpetration association, controlling gender and age. This cross-sectional study involved 874 Spanish middle school students (47.8% girls) aged 11 to 18 years (M = 13.92, SD = 1.45). The results revealed that the perpetration was positively related to victimization and negatively related to peer relationship management and anger regulation. In addition, peer relationship management can moderate the victimization-perpetration association, acting as a protective factor, when the ability of victims to regulate anger is sufficiently trained. A growing number of gamma-ray burst (GRB) afterglows is observed at very-high energies (VHE, ≳ 100 GeV). Yet, our understanding of the mechanism powering the VHE emission remains baffling. We make use of multiwavelength observations of the afterglow of GRB 180720B, GRB 190114C, and GRB 221009A to investigate whether the bursts exhibiting VHE emission share common features. We assume the standard afterglow model and microphysical parameters consistent with a synchrotron self-Compton (SSC) scenario for the VHE radiation. By requiring that the blastwave should be transparent to γ–γ pair production at the time of observation of the VHE photons and relying on typical prompt emission efficiencies and data in the radio, optical, and X-ray bands, we infer for those bursts that the initial energy of the blastwave is |$\tilde{E}_{k, \rm {iso}} \gtrsim \mathcal {O}(10^{54})$|  erg and the circumburst density is |$n_0 \lesssim \mathcal {O}(10^{-1})$|  cm−3 for a constant circumburst profile [or |$A_\star \lesssim \mathcal {O}(10^{-1})$|  cm−1 for a wind scenario]. Our findings thus suggest that these VHE bursts might be hosted in low-density environments, if the SSC radiation is responsible for the VHE emission. While these trends are based on a small number of bursts, the Cherenkov Telescope Array has the potential to provide crucial insight in this context by detecting a larger sample of VHE GRBs. In addition, due to the very poor statistics, the non-observation of high-energy neutrinos cannot constrain the properties of these bursts efficiently, unless additional VHE GRBs should be detected at distances closer than 15 Mpc when IceCube-Gen2 radio will be operational. The current state of the art on material science emphasizes recent research efforts aimed at designing novel materials characterized by low-density and advanced properties. The present article reports the experimental, theoretical and simulation results on the thermal behavior of 3D printed discs. Filaments of pure poly (lactic acid) PLA and filled with 6 wt% of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) are used as feedstocks. Experiments indicate that the introduction of graphene enhances the thermal properties of the resulting materials since the conductivity passes from the value of 0.167 [W/mK] for unfilled PLA to 0.335 [W/mK] for reinforced PLA, which corresponds to a significantly improvement of 101%. Exploiting the potential of 3D printing, different air cavities have been intentionally designed to develop new lightweight and more cost-effective materials without compromising their thermal performances. Furthermore, some cavities are equal in volume but different in the geometry; it is necessary to investigate how this last characteristic and its possible orientations affect the overall thermal behavior compared to that of an air-free specimen. The influence of air volume is also investigated. Experimental results are supported by theoretical analysis and simulation studies based on the finite element method. Simple Summary: We hereby report on the immunomodulatory effects induced over time in patients with advanced relapsed or refractory (R/R) diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and B-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) treated with the commercial CAR-T-cell product tisagenlecleucel. We observed that, in addition to its anti-neoplastic activity, tisagenlecleucel was capable of exerting a marked and long-lived in vivo reshaping of the host immune system, in terms of T- and NK-cell expansion and cytokine release. These results may contribute to a further understanding of the complex field of immunotherapy and intercellular crosstalk, suggesting a role for host immune modulation in the long-term control of the disease. Background: Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cells represent a potentially curative strategy for patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R) B-cell malignancies. To elucidate a possible host immune activation following CAR-T-cell infusion, we investigated the effects of tisagenlecleucel administration on the patients' immune populations in 25 patients with R/R diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and B-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). Methods: The modulation of CAR-T cells over time, the numeric changes, as well as the cytokine production capability of different lymphocyte populations and circulating cytokine levels, were analyzed. Results: Our results confirmed the ability of tisagenlecleucel to control the disease, with an overall response observed in 84.6% of DLBCL and in 91.7% of B-ALL patients at 1-month post-infusion, and showed that most patients who subsequently relapsed could undergo further treatment. Interestingly, we could document a significant increase in CD3+, CD4+, CD8+, and NK cells over time, as well as a decrease in Treg cells, and an increased IFNγ and TNFα production by T lymphocytes. Conclusions: Taken together, our results indicate that in patients with DLBCL and B-ALL, the administration of tisagenlecleucel is capable of inducing a marked and prolonged in vivo modulation/reshaping of the host immune system, both in children and adults. The aim of the article is to critically analyze Environmentally-Adjusted Multifactor Productivity (EAMP), by considering the Classical-Post-keynesian environmental framework Ecological Macroeconomics, integrated with the Evolutionary Environmental Economics. The paper introduces EAMP as rooted in in neoclassical economics and derived from Cobb-Douglas function with natural resources built by Solow (1974). I present theoretical critiques of EAMP's neoclassical assumptions by developing perspectives from heterodox Ecological Macroconomics literature. Finally, I discuss the shortcomings of EAMP's conceptual framework, making specific reference to the policy debate on Porter Hypothesis. The article puts in evidence how the assumptions of constant returns to scale, perfect competition and perfect input substitutability seriously alter the meaning and promise of sustainability policy. The analysis indicates that EAMP is a poor instrument to study complex issues regarding the promotion and effectiveness of green innovations and should therefore be abandoned to face the great challenges regarding the process of ecological transformation. Love, sex and marriage are recurrent themes in Kurahashi Yumiko's literature, especially in her early works. In the novel Divine maiden (1965) she approached those topics from a different perspective, through the form of shōjo shōsetsu (girl's fiction): she even went so far as to define Divine maiden as 'the last shōjo shōsetsu'. The protagonist of this novel is a young girl, Miki: the story revolves around Miki's incestuous relationship with her father, as it is depicted in her three diaries, read by a male narrator. Even though incest is a recurrent theme in Kurahashi's work, it has been pointed out that the incestuous relationship between father and daughter could be considered shōjo shōsetsu's grand finale. However, not much attention has been paid to the relationship between Divine maiden and shōjo shōsetsu as a literary genre; moreover, the meaning of love, sex and marriage in the novel has been left unexplored. This paper aims to analyse the girl's sexuality depicted in Divine maiden in the context of post-war Japan's junketsu kyōiku ('purity education'); through an analysis of Miki's diaries, I will explore the way Kurahashi has parodied the concept of 'democracy' in relation to the ideal of 'pure love'. Polymer composites filled with high thermal and electrical conductivity nanofillers show enhanced thermo‐electric properties which encourage their use in heat transfer applications. In the present study, nanocomposites based on polylactic acid (PLA) containing up to 9 wt% of multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (trade name: N7000) and graphene nanoplates (trade name: TNIGNP) are produced via melt compounding and then morphologically, electrically, and thermally investigated. The results are correlated to the different characteristic of the fillers and their interaction with the PLA. At the highest investigated filler concentration, an electrical conductivity of about 2 S m–1 and a thermal conductivity of 0.725 W m–1 K–1 are measured respectively for nanocomposites based on N7000 and TNIGNP, which are decisively higher than the values measured for unfilled PLA (5.9 ×∙10–2 S m–1 and 0.205 W m–1 K–1). Moreover, multiphysics simulations are performed on the best performing nanocomposites for evaluating their thermo‐electric properties when an electrical heating or a direct heat flux are applied. • Saliva testing is useful in community mass-screening programs. • Circulation of SARS-CoV-2 is low in primary and lower secondary schools in Rome. • Low circulation suggests a relatively low risk of being infected at school. • Similar trends of positivity are found in students' saliva and local surveillance unit RM3 population's nasopharyngeal swabs. • Screening in the schools allows monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 circulation. To describe the trend of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in saliva samples from children attending nine schools in Rome in the local surveillance unit RM3 during the period of September 2021-March 2022, in parallel with the trend of SARS-CoV-2 RNA observed in nasopharyngeal swabs (NPSs) from the population in the same catchment area that was routinely tested at our laboratory in the same period. Saliva samples were collected using the Copan LolliSpongeTM device and analyzed by Aptima® SARS-CoV-2 Assay on the Panther® System. NPSs were tested using either Aptima® SARS-CoV-2 Assay or Alinity m SARS-CoV-2 Assay. The percentage of positivity in the two populations was different; of the 2222 saliva samples from students, 0.99% had positive results, whereas the percentage was higher (33.43%) in the 8994 NPSs representing the population from local surveillance unit RM3. Interestingly, the trend of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in saliva samples from students was consistent with that observed in NPSs from the population in same catchment area, although with peaks slightly anticipated. Overall, screening of saliva in the schools represents a good system to monitor SARS-CoV-2 circulation in the population, allowing early detection and quick isolation of students who are asymptomatic with positive test results and thus prevention of virus transmission. Article aims to integrate New Developmentalism with Ecological View by means of the concepts of Ecological Structural Change (ESC) and Eco-Developmental Class-Coalition (EDCC). ESC means to increase the share of green manufacturing sector in GDP and employment for increasing the environmental efficiency of the economy. Exchange rate overvaluation caused by Dutch disease and growth with foreign savings can harm green manufacturing industries even more than brown manufacturing industries. ESC needs the existence of an EDCC that can be made difficult to occur if exchange rate overvaluation is not removed through taxes over commodities exports, capital controls and a dual mandate for the Central Bank. To date, the virtual multidisciplinary tumor boards (vMTBs) are increasingly used to achieve high-quality treatment recommendations across health-care regions, which expands and develops the local MTB team to a regional or national expert network. This review describes the process of lung cancer-specific MTBs and the transition process from face-to-face tumor boards to virtual ones. The review also focuses on the project organization's description, advantages, and disadvantages. Semi-structured interviews identified five major themes for MTBs: current practice, attitudes, enablers, barriers, and benefits for the MTB. MTB teams exhibited positive responses to modeled data feedback. Virtualization reduces time spent for travel, allowing easier and timely patient discussions. This process requires a secure web platform to assure the respect of patients' privacy and presents the same unanswered problems. The implementation of vMTB also permits the implementation of networks especially in areas with geographical barriers facilitating interaction between large referral cancer centers and tertiary or community hospitals as well as easier access to clinical trial opportunities. Studies aimed to improve preparations, structure, and conduct of MTBs, research methods to monitor their performance, teamwork, and outcomes are also outlined in this article. Analysis of literature shows that MTB participants discuss 5–8 cases per meeting and that the use of a vMTB for lung cancer and in particular stage III NSCLC and complex stage IV cases is widely accepted by most health professionals. This study investigates the role of individual and contextual factors as potential concurrent predictors of bullying and victimization in male and female high school students. The sample included 517 adolescents and their teachers. With a multi‐informant approach, measures of bullying and victimization, personality traits, psychopathological symptoms, peer ratings of popularity, loneliness, bothersomeness, as well as school climate, were collected. A series of regression analyses showed gender differences in the dysfunctional personality traits resulted as predictors of bullying (e.g., impulsivity for males and deceitfulness for females). As for victimization, also the role of contextual predictors (i.e., negative relations with peers and safety problems) was significant, with some differences between males and females. These results highlight the importance of a multi‐informant and multifactor (i.e., individual, contextual) approach when investigating the dynamics of bullying and victimization. Practitioner points: Different patterns of concurrent predictors are related to bullying and victimization in males and females.Both individual and contextual factors predict victimization; only individual factors predict bullying.A school climate with negative school relations (males and females) and safety problems (females) concurrently predicts victimization. Difficulties in mathematics have been described in very preterm children, but their origins are not well understood and may differ from other populations with specific learning disability. Very preterm children, children with learning disability, and typically developing children were compared in mathematics skills, using standardized tools, experimental tasks, and eye-tracker measures. We assessed symbolic and nonsymbolic magnitude comparisons, number knowledge, calculation, as well as cognitive skills of 103 Italian-speaking fourth and fifth graders. Compared to typically developing peers, very preterm children showed delays in number knowledge, slower reaction times in nonsymbolic magnitude comparisons, and an atypical gaze exploration characterized by more and shorter fixations that lacked a target preference. The profile of mathematics skills of very preterm children appeared different from that of children with learning disability. Although both populations showed mainly preserved cognitive skills and slower reaction times in nonsymbolic magnitude comparisons, children with specific learning disability showed more severe impairments in calculation and were slower in symbolic magnitude comparisons, compared to very preterm children. Background: Immune-inflammatory biomarkers (IIBs) showed a prognostic relevance in patients with metastatic CRC (mCRC). We aimed at evaluating the prognostic power of a new comprehensive biomarker, the Pan-Immune-Inflammation Value (PIV), in patients with mCRC receiving first-line therapy.Methods: In the present pooled-analysis, we included patients enrolled in the Valentino and TRIBE trials. PIV was calculated as: (neutrophil count × platelet count × monocyte count)/lymphocyte count. A cut-off was determined using the maximally selected rank statistics method. Generalised boosted regression (GBR), the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox hazards regression models were used for survival analyses.Results: A total of 438 patients were included. Overall, 208 patients (47%) had a low-baseline PIV and 230 (53%) had a high-baseline PIV. Patients with high PIV experienced a worse PFS (HR, 1.66; 95% CI, 1.36-2.03, P < 0.001) and worse OS (HR, 2.01; 95% CI, 1.57-2.57; P < 0.001) compared to patients with low PIV. PIV outperformed the other IIBs in the GBR model and in the multivariable models.Conclusion: PIV is a strong predictor of survival outcomes with better performance than other well-known IIBs in patients with mCRC treated with first-line therapy. • We develop a Kaleckian growth model for a small developing open economy that allows for discussing the interactions between income distribution, international competitiveness and environmental innovation in a North-South international system. • We find that a rise in energy efficiency help boost growth and income distribution both in the short run (when prices are given) and in the medium run (when prices vary to attain equilibrium in the labor market). • In the long run, environmental innovations are endogenous and depend on the combination of green taxes, industrial policy and the initial North-South technology gap. • The impact of these innovations on international competitiveness is key for defining the fiscal space of the developing economy and the ability of this economy to invest in new green technologies. The article integrates a baseline Kaleckian model with a balance of payments constrained growth for addressing the interaction among: income distribution, international competitiveness and environmental innovation taking into account the proactive role of environmental policies The crucial link is given by intermediate inputs (raw materials and energy) in the Kaleckian price equation, which impacts on real wages, the wage share, the rate of capital utilization (and hence growth) and international competitiveness (through changes in domestic prices for a given international inflation rate). It is shown that an economy which has higher energy efficiency will attain at the same time a higher wage share and higher growth. Being green not only helps attain a more sustainable growth path, but also a more inclusive one both in the short run and the medium-run. In the long-run, within a balance of payments constraint, the combination of green taxes with an industrial policy aimed at increasing the energy efficiency of production and the diversification of the economy is crucial to raise the wage share and sustain growth. The aim of the paper is to propose a post-Keynesian analysis of the Porter Hypothesis (PH) according to which regulation policies can bring about new economic opportunities by generating 'green' environmental innovations. Firstly, I illustrate the main features of the PH. Secondly, a Post-Keynesian growth model is developed by focusing on the macroeconomic impact of the PH. Finally, two equations of the model are estimated, an investment function and a green productivity function, by applying the GMM for panel data to European countries, over the period 1999–2012. The theoretical findings concern the potential rebound effect of regulation if its multiplier effect is greater than its innovation effect and the need for a policy mix to achieve environmental and socio-economic goals together. The empirical section verifies both the weak version of the PH, according to which environmental policies can stimulate green productivity, and (indirectly) the strong version of the PH by estimating the positive impact of green productivity dynamics on private investment. Five models for the site-site intermolecular pair interactions of methane are compared in some detail and used to investigate both structural and dynamical properties of the dense liquid deuteromethane by means of molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The orientational distribution probabilities of molecular pairs are carefully analyzed for each anisotropic potential model. We propose a revision of existing classification methods used to group the innumerable relative orientations of methane-methane pairs into six basic geometries. With this new approach, our results for the probability of the six basic categories as a function of the intermolecular distance are different from the ones present in the literature, where the role of the angular spread on the anisotropic interaction energy is not taken in full consideration and certain configurations with no significant change in the pair-potential are assigned to different categories. The analysis of the static orientational correlations in liquid methane and the prevalence of certain configurations in different ranges guide the subsequent discussion of the MD model-dependent results for the dynamic structure factor. Comparison with our inelastic neutron scattering results for liquid CD4 at the nanometer and picosecond space and time scales allows us to confirm the full adequacy of the Tsuzuki, Uchimaru and Tanabe model of 1998 with respect to more recent potentials. The article aims to analyze the ecological transition and the structural change by considering the role of Medium-Income Trap (MIT) with respect to exchange rate overvaluation and (re)industrialization, according to the structuralist-New Developmentalist Approach. The ecological challenges can be faced by an ecological transition based on Ecological Technological Progress and Ecological Structural Change (ESC). The ESC can be represented by the increase of the share of green activities in output for increasing the environmental efficiency of the economy. The theoretical core of the new developmentalism is the tendency of overvaluation of real exchange rate for middle income countries whose sources are the Dutch disease (and the growth with external saving strategy). This fact generates the MIT concerning the negative impact of overvaluation real exchange rate on the industrial development. Thus, we analyze how the ESC interact with the drivers of overvaluation exchange rate by carrying out a post-Keynesian model based the Structuralist-New Developmentalist features. A new roadmap for quantitative methodologies of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is proposed, using an ecosystem-based approach. EIA recommendations are currently based on case-by-case rankings, distant from statistical methodologies, and ecological ideas that lack proof of generality or predictive capacities. These qualitative approaches ignore process dynamics, scales of variations and interdependencies and are unable to address societal demands to link socio-economic and ecological processes (e.g. population dynamics). We propose to refocus EIA around the systemic formulation of interactions between organisms (organized in populations and communities) and their environments but inserted within a strict statistical framework. A systemic formulation allows scenarios to be built that simulate impacts on chosen receptors. To illustrate the approach, we design a minimum ecosystem model that demonstrates nontrivial effects and complex responses to environmental changes and validated with case study. We suggest that an Ecosystem-Based EIA—in which the socio-economic system is an evolving driver of the ecological one—is more promising than a socio-economic-ecological system where all variables are treated as equal. This refocuses the debate on cause-and-effect, processes, identification of essential portable variables, and allows for quantitative comparisons between projects, which is critical in cumulative effects determinations. The use of multi-trait across-country evaluation (MACE) and the exchange of genomic information among countries allows national breeding programs to combine foreign and national data to increase the size of the training populations and potentially increase accuracy of genomic prediction of breeding values. By including genotyped and nongenotyped animals simultaneously in the evaluation, the single-step genomic BLUP (GBLUP) approach has the potential to deliver more accurate and less biased genomic evaluations. A single-step genomic BLUP approach, which enables integration of data from MACE evaluations, can be used to obtain genomic predictions while avoiding double-counting of information. The objectives of this study were to apply a single-step approach that simultaneously includes domestic and MACE information for genomic evaluation of workability traits in Canadian Holstein cattle, and compare the results obtained with this methodology with those obtained using a multi-step approach (msGBLUP). By including MACE bulls in the training population, msGBLUP led to an increase in reliability of genomic predictions of 4.8 and 15.4% for milking temperament and milking speed, respectively, compared with a traditional evaluation using only pedigree and phenotypic information. Integration of MACE data through a single-step approach (ssGBLUP IM) yielded the highest reliabilities compared with other considered methods. Integration of MACE data also helped reduce bias of genomic predictions. When using ssGBLUP IM , the bias of genomic predictions decreased by half compared with msGBLUP using domestic and MACE information. Therefore, the reliability and bias of genomic predictions for both traits improved substantially when a single-step approach was used for evaluation compared with a multi-step approach. The effects of 2 deleterious recessive haplotypes on reproduction performance of Ayrshire cattle, Ayrshire Haplotype 1 (AH1) and Ayrshire Haplotype 2 (AH2), were investigated in Canadian Ayrshire cattle. We calculated their phenotypic effects on stillbirth (SB) rate and 56-d nonreturn rate (NRR) by estimating the interaction of service sire carrier status with maternal grandsire carrier status using the official Canadian evaluation models for those 2 traits. The interaction term included 9 subclasses for the 3 possible statuses of each bull: haplotype carrier, noncarrier, or not genotyped. For AH1, 394 carriers and 1,433 noncarriers were available, whereas 313 carriers and 1,543 noncarriers were available for the AH2 haplotype. The number of matings considered for SB was 34,312 for heifers (first parity) and 115,935 for cows (later parities). For NRR, 49,479 matings for heifers and 160,528 for cows were used to estimate the haplotype effects. We observed a negative effect of AH1 on SB rates, which was 2.0% higher for matings of AH1-carrier sires to dams that had an AH1-carrier sire; this effect was found for both heifers and cows. However, AH1 had small, generally nonsignificant effects on NRR. The AH2 haplotype had a substantial negative effect on NRR, with 5.1% more heifers and 4.0% more cows returning to service, but the effects on SB rates were inconsistent and mostly small effects. Our results validate the harmful effects of AH1 and AH2 on reproduction traits in the Canadian Ayrshire population. Background: Very preterm (VPT) children showed delays in reading, spelling and maths, but their academic achievement profile is not clearly understood.Aims: VPT children were compared with children with specific learning disorders (SLD) and typically developing (TD) children on academic achievement, considering cognitive and linguistic phenotypic markers. A learning profile analysis was also performed.Methods: We included 170 10-year old monolingual Italian-speaking children (37 VPT, 28 SLD, 105 TD) assessing cognitive, linguistic and academic skills.Results: On academic achievements VPT children fell behind TD peers in some reading (text speed, comprehension), spelling (non-word), and math (number knowledge, written calculations and problem-solving) tasks. SLD children underperformed in all academic tasks with respect to VPT and TD peers. Concerning cognitive and linguistic phenotypic markers, compared to TD peers, VPT children showed lower scores in verbal IQ and phonological fluency, SLD children in phonological processing and rapid automatized naming. VPT children showed a higher rate of at-risk performance in reading compared to TD group, but a minor percentage of impaired profiles and comorbidity among learning areas compared to SLD group.Conclusions and Implications: The academic achievement profile of VPT children shows persistent delays, but it differs to that of SLD children, since delays are less widespread and severe, and differences were found in phenotypic markers and comorbidity. Summary: TP53‐disrupted chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) patients show a suboptimal long‐term response to ibrutinib. We hereby report that ibrutinib‐induced in vitro apoptosis and proliferation inhibition were significantly lower in TP53‐mutated (TP53‐M) CLL cells compared to TP53 wild‐type cells. Contrariwise, venetoclax effectively killed TP53‐M cells. Gene expression profile analysis of TP53‐M cells revealed a downmodulation of B‐cell receptor (BCR)‐related genes and an upmodulation of genes with anti‐apoptotic/pro‐survival activity, suggesting that the survival and proliferation of TP53‐M cells are less dependent on the BCR pathway. In Canada, reproductive disorders known to affect the profitability of dairy cattle herds have been recorded by producers on a voluntary basis since 2007. Previous studies have shown the feasibility of using producer-recorded health data for genetic evaluations. Despite low heritability estimates and limited availability of phenotypic information, sufficient genetic variation has been observed for those traits to indicate that genetic progress, although slow, can be achieved. Pedigree- and genomic-based analyses were performed on producer-recorded health data of reproductive disorders, including retained placenta (RETP), metritis (METR), and cystic ovaries (CYST) using traditional BLUP and single-step genomic BLUP. Genome-wide association studies and functional analyses were carried out to unravel significant genomic regions and biological pathways, and to better understand the genetic mechanisms underlying RETP, METR, and CYST. Heritability estimates (posterior standard deviation in parentheses) were 0.02 (0.003), 0.01 (0.004), and 0.02 (0.003) for CYST, METR, and RETP, respectively. A moderate to strong genetic correlation of 0.69 (0.102) was found between METR and RETP. Averaged over all traits, sire proof reliabilities increased by approximately 11 percentage points with the incorporation of genomic data using a multiple-trait linear model. Biological pathways and associated genes underlying the studied traits were identified and will contribute to a better understanding of the biology of these 3 health disorders in dairy cattle. Abstract Background An increasing body of research on typically and atypically developing infants has shown that motor skills play an important role in language development. To date, however, the role of specific object exploration skills for early gesture and vocabulary development has not been investigated in extremely low gestational age infants (ELGA, GA < 28 weeks), who are at greater risk for motor and language delays than full-term (FT) infants. Purpose This longitudinal study examined relations between 6-month active exploratory behaviors and 12- month word comprehension, gestures and vocal production, controlling for cognitive performance and neonatal condition (ELGA vs FT). Methods Forty infants, 20 ELGA and 20 FT, and their mothers participated in the study. Mother-infant play interaction was video-recorded at 6 and 12 months. Oral and manual object exploration at 6 months and spontaneous gestures and vocal production at 12 months were coded. Word comprehension was evaluated with the Italian version of the MacArthur-Bates CDI parent questionnaire at 12 months. Cognitive performance was examined with the Griffiths Mental Developmental Scales at 6 months and the Bayley-III Scales at 12 months. Results Regression analyses showed that after accounting for cognitive performance and neonatal condition, oral exploration was related to word comprehension, and manual exploration to gestures and vocal production in the overall sample. Conclusions Cascading effects of specific object exploration skills on gestures and language comprehension and production in preterm infants and FT infants are discussed. Clinical implications for early assessment of and interventions involving object exploration skills, which may affect language development, are considered for the preterm population. This paper aims to study the impact of digitalization on energy efficiency in Europe, where institutions are committed to promote both digital transformation and energy transition by implementing the European Twin Transition, ETT [1]. The paper starts by empirically analysing the state of play of the Twin Transition across European Member States (MS) by mapping the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI), its sub-indices and the energy productivity. We then discuss the impact of the abovementioned digital indicators on energy productivity growth in 26 European MS during the period 2016–2020 by applying a system GMM model. The results show a significant and positive impact of digitalization on energy efficiency and relevant complementarities across diverse digitalization dimensions. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the usefulness of educational software among teachers in Italy (N = 559). The evaluation of usefulness was conducted on the latest and most popular web-based software used by European teachers, namely: Quizizz, Mentimeter, Wakelet, Padlet, Canva, Emaze, Answergarden, Jamboard, Coggle, Createley, Wordwall, LearningApps, Prezi, Kahoot, Plickers, Trimino, Dobble, Genial.ly, ClassDojo, Explain Everything, KhanAcademy, and Easelly. Based on data collected in the first half of 2022 using an online survey, it was noted that: 1) The majority of teachers are not able to evaluate modern software because they do not use such teaching resources as those listed; 2) About 9.3% of teachers rate the listed software highly; 3) Most commonly teachers use and also rate highly: Canva, Wordwall, Padlet, LearningApps, Kahoot, Coggle, Jamboard, and Prezi; 4) Seniority and workplace does not always differentiate the evaluation of educational software. The oceans and seas receive coarse woody debris since the Devonian, but the kinetics of wood degradation remains one of many unanswered questions about the fate of driftwood in the marine environment. A simple gravimetric experiment was carried out at a monitoring station located at the exit of a steep, forested Mediterranean watershed in the Eastern Pyrenees. The objective was to describe and quantify, with standardized logs (in shape, structure and constitution), natural degradation of wood in the sea. Results show that the mass decrease of wood logs over time can be described by a sigmoidal curve. The primary process of wood decay observed at the monitoring station was due to the arrival and installation of wood-boring species that consumed more than half of the total wood mass in six months. Surprisingly, in a region where there is little remaining wood marine infrastructure, “shipworms”, i.e. xylophagous bivalves, are responsible for an important part of this wood decay. This suggests that these communities are maintained probably by a frequent supply of a large quantity of riparian wood entering the marine environment adjacent to the watershed. By exploring this direct link between terrestrial and marine ecosystems, our long term objective is to determine how these supplies of terrestrial organic carbon can sustain wood-based marine communities as it is observed in the Mediterranean Sea. The success and sustainability of a breeding program incorporating genomic information is largely dependent on the accuracy of predictions. For low heritability traits, large training populations are required to achieve high accuracies of genomic estimated breeding values (GEBV). By including genotyped and nongenotyped animals simultaneously in the evaluation, the singlestep genomic BLUP (ssGBLUP) approach has the potential to deliver more accurate and less biased genomic evaluations. The aim of this study was to compare the accuracy and bias of genomic predictions for various traits in Canadian Holstein cattle using ssGBLUP and multi-step genomic BLUP (msGBLUP) under different strategies, such as (1) adding genomic information of cows in the analysis, (2) testing different adjustments of the genomic relationship matrix, and (3) using a blending approach to obtain GEBV from msGBLUP. The following genomic predictions were evaluated regarding accuracy and bias: (1) GEBV estimated by ssGBLUP; (2) direct genomic value estimated by msGBLUP with polygenic effects of 5 and 20%; and (3) GEBV calculated by a blending approach of direct genomic value with estimated breeding values using polygenic effects of 5 and 20%. The effect of adding genomic information of cows in the evaluation was also assessed for each approach. When genomic information was included in the analyses, the average improvement in observed reliability of predictions was observed to be 7 and 13 percentage points for reproductive and workability traits, respectively, compared with traditional BLUP. Absolute deviation from 1 of the regression coefficient of the linear regression of de-regressed estimated breeding values on genomic predictions went from 0.19 when using traditional BLUP to 0.22 when using the msGBLUP method, and to 0.14 when using the ssGBLUP method. The use of polygenic weight of 20% in the msGBLUP slightly improved the reliability of predictions, while reducing the bias. A similar trend was observed when a blending approach was used. Adding genomic information of cows increased reliabilities, while decreasing bias of genomic predictions when using the ssGBLUP method. Differences between using a training population with cows and bulls or with only bulls for the msGBLUP method were small, likely due to the small number of cows included in the analysis. Predictions for lowly heritable traits benefit greatly from genomic information, especially when all phenotypes, pedigrees, and genotypes are used in a single-step approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The compaction behavior of spray-dried powders has turned into concern in porcelain stoneware manufacturing due to the increasing diffusion of large slabs. It is necessary to fill a knowledge gap between the compaction behavior with conventional presses and novel technologies. For this purpose, eighteen industrially-manufactured spray dried bodies were characterized for specific properties connected to the compaction behavior (curves of bulk density, intergranular and intragranular porosity in function of applied load, apparent yield strength). In addition, the firing behavior was investigated in order to reveal any effect of dry bulk density on firing shrinkage and bulk density of fired samples. Powder compressibility is within 50% and 55% (Carr index) and is primarily controlled by moisture. Two regimes are found: low pressure (fast density increasing by granule cave in and closure of intergranular porosity) and high pressure (slow density gain by downsizing microporosity). A peculiar mechanism is unveiled: granules squeeze in the low-P regime and further densification is achieved through microfracture around individual agglomerate. A phenomenological model is illustrated for the compaction of spray-dried powders. In conclusion, the performance of spray dried bodies during compaction is crucial to control the uniformity, in terms of porosity and bulk density, which has important repercussions on the properties of final slabs, especially differential shrinkages and deformation during firing due to density gradients. The infrastructures supporting air transport throughout the world in the civil sector are classified as primary-level (large numbers of passengers and goods on both commercial and charter long- and medium-haul flights) and secondary-level (few passengers and goods on general aviation private, short-haul flights). In parallel with primary-level air traffic general growth all over the world and in Italy, the popularity of “individual” nonscheduled general aviation traffic increased in many countries since 1990s. The latter aviation has proved to be a valid alternative to rail and road transport for short-medium distance journeys (100-500 km) for classes of business and tourist passengers. In keeping with the national and international airport system development scenarios, the paper illustrates the results of in-depth analyses aiming to construct an integrated GIS-based Multicriteria Decision Analysis evaluation methodology. It gears towards formulating strategies for the development and streamlining of some existing (51) Italian minor airports and for the right locations for the new hubs required to construct an efficient second-level air transport network (the “highway in the sky”). Different levels of evaluation verify the suitability of airport services and infrastructure (status quo) and the attractiveness of airport hubs given the territorial facilities found in their catchment areas. The SPA ("Savoir, Pouvoir, Avoir") project (CNRS, 2017-2019) presented in this article focuses on the ways French society deals with the issue of environmental impact – from the vast question of impact in the context of global change and the issue of the measurement of impact in science, to the specific case of the public policy instrument known as "environmental impact assessment". Impact is considered as a boundary object at the intersection of several fields of inquiry which captures both the architecture and the dynamics of relationships between "savoir" (scientific and lay knowledge), "pouvoir" (power and decision) and "avoir" (economy/appropriation), that aggregate different interests around the sustainable management of coastal socio-ecological systems. Three sites were selected along a north-south gradient of Long-Term Ecological Research sites: the Bay of Brest and the Iroise Sea, the National Nature Reserve of the French islands in the Southern Ocean and the overseas collectivity of Saint Pierre and Miquelon. The approach of the SPA project is to link concretely social sciences, natural sciences and engineering sciences on these study sites, in an interdisciplinary, multi-site and multi-scale methodology that makes it possible to reveal the conditions for the possible – or impossible – implementation of sustainable management of coastal socio-ecological systems. Background & Aims: The video capsule endoscopy (VCE) is an accurate and validated tool to investigate the entire small bowel mucosa, but VCE recordings interpretation by the gastroenterologist is time-consuming. A pre-reading of VCE recordings by an expert nurse could be accurate and cost saving. We assessed the concordance between nurses and gastroenterologists in detecting lesions on VCE examinations. Methods: This was a prospective study enrolling consecutive patients who had undergone VCE in clinical practice. Two trained nurses and two expert gastroenterologists participated in the study. At VCE pre-reading the nurses selected any abnormalities, saved them as "thumbnails" and classified the detected lesions as a vascular abnormality, ulcerative lesion, polyp, tumor mass, and unclassified lesion. Then, the gastroenterologist evaluated and interpreted the selected lesions and, successively, reviewed the entire video for potential missed lesions. The time for VCE evaluation was recorded. Results: A total of 95 VCE procedures performed on consecutive patients (M/F: 47/48; mean age: 63 ± 12 years, range: 27-86 years) were evaluated. Overall, the nurses detected at least one lesion in 54 (56.8%) patients. There was total agreement between nurses and gastroenterologists, no missing lesions being discovered at a second look of the entire VCE recording by the physician. The pre-reading procedure by nurse allowed a time reduction of medical evaluation from 49 (33-69) to 10 (8-16) minutes (difference: -79.6%). Conclusions: Our data suggest that trained nurses can accurately identify and select relevant lesions in thumbnails that subsequently were faster reviewed by the gastroenterologist for a final diagnosis. This article aimed to reflect on a basic health care for the elderly, from a perspective of the sociodemographic profile of the health team and the actions developed. For that, a descriptive study was conducted in the city of Bandeirantes - PR. We interviewed 46 professionals of the basic care team belonging to the six health teams of the municipality. It was observed the compatibility with three important phenomena related to the labor force in the basic attention: a feminization, the increase of the schooling and the increase of the jobs of the last decades. Objective: To evaluate the effect of the application of photobiomodulation in a 2-year follow-up period in patients who have been intervened with a sagittal ramus split osteotomy and present neurosensory disturbance of the inferior alveolar nerve. Background: Photobiomodulation is a common clinical tool in dentistry, for its beneficial effects have been shown in surgical and periodontal wound healing, reducing of swelling and pain, neurosensory recovery, and treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders. Methods: This is a 2-year follow-up study with an experimental (Laser) group ( n = 33) that received photobiomodulation, and a control (Sham) group ( n = 9), placebo. All patients from the Laser group received laser applications (continuous wave of 0.353 W/cm2, 27 J in 270 sec per session) on days 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 14, 21, and 28 after surgery. Neurosensory disturbance was evaluated with five tests: Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain and sensitivity, sensitivity threshold test, two-point discrimination, and thermal discrimination. All tests were performed before (24 h before surgery) and after surgery (24 h, 28 days, 60 days, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, more than 2 years). Participants and evaluator were blinded to intervention. Variables were described with absolute frequencies, percentages, and medians. Ordinal and dichotomous variables were compared with Mann-Whitney's and Fisher's tests, respectively. Results: Clinical improvement was observed during the follow-up period for the Laser group; general VAS for sensitivity was normal in 11 participants from the Laser group at 2 years postsurgery (40.74%), while no participants from the Sham group achieved this ( p = 0.0341). Twenty-three participants recovered initial values for two-point discrimination (69.7%) after 2 years of follow-up ( p = 0.0025) as well as sensitivity threshold test. General VAS for pain was normal in 31 patients from the Laser group after 2 years of follow-up (93.94%, p = 0.0254). The concept of decoupling was introduced to measure and analyze the controversial trade-off between economic development and environmental sustainability; in particular, several empirical studies concern the construction and use of decoupling indicators. We elaborate on a descriptive comparison by Conte Grand (2016) of the three main ones, respectively D O by OECD (2002) , D ϵ by Tapio (2005) , and D t by Lu et al. (2011) , and introduce an axiomatic approach into the subject that articulates in the identification of some properties that appear indispensable or at least desirable for any decoupling indicator and in the assessment of their validity for the indices under scrutiny and/or in the construction of new indices that satisfy them. A graphical examination of the aggregation function level sets in the Cartesian plane is a relevant part of the method. Under such analysis, the index D O turns out to show milder defects than D ϵ and D t . We then propose a suitable modification D N in order to remove the defects and fulfill all the given compatible axioms; in particular, D N is cumulative over sub-periods. It may also be opportune for a decoupling index to differentiate the treatment of the case when, during economic growth, environmental stress (e.g., polluting emissions) decreases from the case when it increases, although less than economy (the so-called absolute and relative decoupling, respectively), as well as to capture the rebound effect phenomenon, whereby the efforts to reduce environmental intensity may eventually result in a smaller overall environmental improvement than predicted or intended. To this end we build another index D P by applying to D N a correction (that can be calibrated via a global parameter) for the distance from what we define symmetric decoupling, the case when the variations of economy and of environmental pressure are inversely proportional. Late talkers represent a heterogeneous population. We aimed to describe communication profiles of low-risk preterm and full-term late talkers according to their receptive and expressive vocabulary size, considering communicative, linguistic, cognitive, and motor skills, as well as biological and environmental risk factors. Sixty-eight late talkers (33 born low-risk preterm and 35 full-term) were identified through a language screening at 30 months. Parents filled out the Italian Short Forms of the MacArthur Bates Communicative Development Inventories and the Socio Conversational Skills Rating Scales. Children were assessed with the Picture Naming Game test and the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development. A two-step cluster analysis identified three distinct profiles among late talkers according to their receptive and expressive vocabulary size. Severe late talkers (25%) showed less frequent use of pointing, limited verbal imitation, receptive vocabulary size, lexical and sentence production, responsiveness and assertiveness, and lower cognitive scores than mild late talkers (40%). Moderate late talkers (35%) showed less frequent verbal imitation, limited lexical and sentence production and lower cognitive scores than mild late talkers. Male gender was significantly more represented in the severe late profile, whereas other biological and environmental factors did not differ among the three profiles. Findings highlighted the relevance of assessing communicative, lexical, grammar, pragmatic, and cognitive skills to describe late talkers' profiles. Abstract: Coarse particulate organic matter (CPOM) represents a small portion of the inner shelf sediments but occurs across all river outlets. To consider the ecogeochemical fate of CPOM in such an environment, we examined both the infauna community and secondary evidence of geochemical reactions preserved in the surface sediments of the Rhône prodelta. ICP-AES, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry of the CPOM showed that the fate of organic matter in this environment is driven by sulphate reduction and geochemical reactions resulting from the precipitation of sulfide due to the presence of large amounts of iron-bearing minerals. Leaf litter debris contained such high quantities of iron that after dry ashing the remaining material is easily attracted by a magnet. The observed geochemical trade-off was proposed as a mechanism that helps to maintain a bioturbating animal community that in turn contributes to the mineralization of organic matter within this suboxic environment. This study showed that the accumulation of refractory organic carbon in sediments was intimately associated with the sequestering of iron and sulphur by providing a nucleation point for mineral deposition and also that the extent of decomposition of the organic materials did not necessarily increase progressively from coarser to finer particles. Several polymorphic gene variants within one-carbon metabolism, an essential pathway for nucleotide synthesis and methylation reactions, are related to cancer risk. An aberrant DNA methylation is a common feature in cancer but whether the link between one-carbon metabolism variants and cancer occurs through an altered DNA methylation is yet unclear. Aims of the study were to evaluate the frequency of one-carbon metabolism gene variants in hepatocellular-carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma and colon cancer, and their relationship to cancer risk together with global DNA methylation status. Genotyping for BHMT 716A>G, DHFR 19bp ins/del, MTHFD1 1958G>A, MTHFR 677C>T, MTR 2756A>G, MTRR 66A>G, RFC1 80G>A, SHMT1 1420C>T, TCII 776C>G and TS 2rpt-3rpt was performed in 102 cancer patients and 363 cancer-free subjects. Methylcytosine (mCyt) content was measured by LC/MS/MS in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) DNA. The MTHFD1 1958AA genotype was significantly less frequent among cancer patients as compared to controls (p = 0.007) and related to 63% reduction of overall cancer risk (p = 0.003) and 75% of colon cancer risk (p = 0.006). When considering PBMCs mCyt content, carriers of the MTHFD1 1958GG genotype showed a lower DNA methylation as compared to carriers of the A allele (p = 0.048). No differences were highlighted by evaluating a possible relationship between the other polymorphisms analyzed with cancer risk and DNA methylation. The MTHFD1 1958AA genotype is linked to a significantly reduced cancer risk. The 1958GG genotype is associated to PBMCs DNA hypomethylation as compared to the A allele carriership that may exert a protective effect for cancer risk by preserving from DNA hypomethylation. Although early object exploration is considered a key ability for subsequent achievements, very few studies have analyzed its development in extremely low gestational age infants (ELGA- GA <28 weeks), whose early motor skills are delayed. Moreover, no studies have examined its developmental relationship with cognitive and language skills. The present study examined developmental change in Motor Object Exploration (MOE) and different types of MOE (Holding, Oral, Manual and Manual Rhythmic Exploration) in 20 ELGA and 20 full term (FT) infants observed during mother-infant play interaction at 6 and 9 months. It also explored whether specific types of MOE were longitudinally related to 24-month language and cognitive abilities (GMDS-R scores). ELGA infants increased MOE duration from 6 to 9 months, eliminating the initial difference with FT infants. In addition, ELGA infants showed a different pattern of Oral Exploration, that did not increase at 6 months and decrease at 9 months. Oral and Manual Exploration durations at 6 months were longitudinally related to 24-month GMDS-R language and cognitive performance scores respectively. We discuss the relevance of assessing early exploratory abilities in ELGA infants in order to implement customized intervention programs for supporting the development of these skills. Background: The satisfaction perceived by patients with chronic diseases affects clinical outcomes and healthcare costs. Some patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) develop a more severe form requiring biologic therapy. We assessed the quality of care perceived by IBD patients in dedicated centers. Methods: This prospective, cross-sectional, multicenter study enrolled consecutive IBD patients who underwent biologic therapy in the participating centers. The nurses directly involved in the management of these patients explained the rationale of the survey, provided a specific questionnaire (CACHE), and collected data. The CACHE included 31 items structured in 6 domains: staff care, clinician care, center facilities, patient information, accessibility, and patient support. Patients' satisfaction score for each domain ranged from 0 to 100%. Results: Sixteen different Italian centers participated and a total of 450 patients were enrolled (283 with Crohn's disease and 167 with ulcerative colitis). The overall score was 82.2±19.6, satisfaction with the clinicians care scoring the highest (87.6±3.2) and the information provided to the patient scoring the lowest (70.7±7.9). More specifically, it emerged that 5.2-19.5% of patients were unsatisfied with: 1) the communication between the IBD medical team and primary care physicians; 2) information received about the disease or patients' associations; and 3) the accessibility of the center. Conclusion: Although our data revealed an acceptably high rate of global satisfaction among IBD patients receiving biologic therapy, more effort should be made to improve patient information and communication between IBD teams, other specialists and primary care physicians. Abstract: Generally, growth rates of living organisms are considered to be at steady state, varying only under environmental forcing factors. For example, these rates may be described as a function of light for plants or organic food resources for animals and these could be regulated (or not) by temperature or other conditions. But, what are the consequences for an individual''s growth (and also for the population growth) if growth rate variations are themselves dynamic and not steady state? For organisms presenting phases of dormancy or long periods of stress, this is a crucial question. A dynamic perspective for quantifying short-term growth was explored using the daily growth record of the scallop Pecten maximus (L.). This species is a good biological model for ectotherm growth because the shell records growth striae daily. Independently, a generic mathematical function representing the dynamics of mean daily growth rate (MDGR) was implemented to simulate a diverse set of growth patterns. Once the function was calibrated with the striae patterns, the growth rate dynamics appeared as a forced damped oscillation during the growth period having a basic periodicity during two transitory phases (mean duration 43days) and appearing at both growth start and growth end. This phase is most likely due to the internal dynamics of energy transfer within the organism rather than to external forcing factors. After growth restart, the transitory regime represents successive phases of over-growth and regulation. This pattern corresponds to a typical representation of compensatory growth, which from an evolutionary perspective can be interpreted as an adaptive strategy to coping with a fluctuating environment. Background Management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients requires a multidisciplinary approach. Among the working team, the role of IBD nurse is expected to be particularly relevant when managing patients receiving biological therapies. We performed a survey to assess the presence of IBD nurse in centers where patients were receiving biologics. Methods For this Italian nationwide survey a specific questionnaire was prepared. IBD nurse was defined as a nurse directly involved in all phases of biological therapy, from pre-therapy screening, administration and monitoring during therapy, to follow up performed by a dedicated helpline, completed a specific training on biological therapy therapy, and observed international guidelines. Results A total of 53 Italian IBD centers participated in the survey, and 91 valid questionnaires were collected. Overall, 34 (37.4%) nurses could be classified as IBD specialists. IBD nurses had a significantly higher educational level than other nurses, they were more frequently operating in Central or Southern than in Northern Italy, they were working in an Academic center rather than in a General hospital, and in IBD centers with >25 patients on biological therapy. On the contrary, mean age, gender distribution, years of nursing, and years working in the IBD unit did not significantly differ between IBD and other nurses. Conclusions Our nationwide survey showed that the presence of an IBD nurse is still lacking in the majority of Italian IBD centers where patients receive biological therapies, suggesting a prompt implementation.
