Although narcissism consistently predicts maladaptive behaviors, the relationship between narcissism and prosocial behavior remains controversial due to the paradoxical nature of narcissism. In three studies, we investigated the roles of situational and motivational factors in the link between narcissism and prosocial behavior. In Study 1 (n = 932), a questionnaire survey revealed that trait narcissism positively predicted prosocial behavior tendencies only in public situations as opposed to anonymous situations. In Study 2 (n = 200) and 3 (n = 170), we manipulated individuals' state narcissism through story-based primes and measured prosocial behavior via actual monetary donations. Both Studies 2 and 3 consistently demonstrated that participants in the state narcissism group exhibited greater prosocial behavior in public situations compared to anonymous ones. Furthermore, the findings of Study 3 indicated that the increased prosocial behavior observed in public situations could be attributed to heightened self-enhancement. Introduction: The use of vitamin D-calcium supplementation for treating gestational diabetes remains unclear. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the efficacy of vitamin D-calcium supplementation in the treatment of gestational diabetes. Methods: Several databases including PubMed, EMbase, Web of science, EBSCO, and Cochrane library databases were systemically searched from inception to August 2023, and we included the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the effect of vitamin D-calcium supplementation on the metabolic profile of gestational diabetes. Results: We included five eligible RCTs and 306 pregnant women in this meta-analysis. Compared with control group in pregnant women with gestational diabetes, vitamin D-calcium supplementation was associated with remarkably decreased fasting plasma glucose (SMD=-0.67; 95% CI=-0.93 to −0.41; p <0.00001), serum insulin (SMD=-1.09; 95% CI=-1.89 to −0.29; p =.007) and LDL (SMD=-0.35; 95% CI=-0.63 to −0.06; p =.02), but demonstrated no impact on total cholesterol (SMD=-0.05; 95% CI=-0.81 to 0.71; p =.90) or triglycerides (SMD=-0.14; 95% CI=-0.86 to 0.58; p =.70). This study aims to explore the influence of control parameters from the perspective of the amorphous ceramic coating formation process. Three preparation processes were preferred based on the thickness, appearance and corrosion resistance of the coatings by orthogonal experiment. The surface morphology, cross-sectional structure, phase composition and micro-hardness of PEO coatings were examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM)/Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and hardness measurement techniques. Findings indicate that voltage exerts the most significant impact on coating thickness and appearance, whereas the influence of other parameters becomes more pronounced as the voltage increases. Three amorphous ceramic coatings prepared in 20 min with thicknesses of 27.4 μm, 83.2 μm and 193.3 μm increased the surface hardness of 6061 aluminium alloy by 6–8 times, and decreased the corrosion current density of 6061 aluminium alloy by 3 orders of magnitude in 1 mol L−1 HCl solution. Moreover, the thickening of the coating primarily occurs within a few minutes after the voltage reaches its peak, and high frequency and low duty ratio are prerequisites for better appearance under higher voltage conditions. An amorphous SiO 2 ceramic coating with a thickness of ∼72 μm is prepared within 13 min in organo-silicon electrolyte, which is stable in strong acid solutions, reducing corrosion current density of 6061 aluminum alloy by 3 orders of magnitude. With the aim to reveal influence of the electrolyte concentration, NaOH content and additive (NaPO 3) 6 on microstructure and corrosion resistance of the coatings, SEM/EDS, XRD, electrochemical tests were used to characterize their thickness, surface and cross-sectional morphology and structure, and corrosion performance prepared by using different electrolytes under the same electric control parameters. The results show that they significantly affect the surface morphology, structure and corrosion resistance of the coatings. Dilution of the electrolyte results in a significant decrease in coating thickness and surface porosity, reduction of NaOH content leads to coating thinning, increased porosity but reduced pore size. Coatings with lower porosity or smaller pore sizes are more effective in resisting corrosive media penetration for long term immersion. Whereas, the additive (NaPO 3) 6 promotes coating thickening, widening of the transition layer, which helpfully improves the corrosion resistance of the coating. Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory lung disease associated with high morbidity and mortality worldwide. Oxidative injury and mitochondrial dysfunction in the airway epithelium are major events in COPD progression. Methods and results: The therapeutic effects of Progesterone (P4) were investigated in vivo and in vitro in this study. In vivo, in a cigarette smoke (CS) exposure-induced COPD mouse model, P4 treatment significantly ameliorated CS exposure-induced physiological and pathological characteristics, including inflammatory cell infiltration and oxidative injury, in a dose-dependent manner. The c-MYC/SIRT1/PGC-1α pathway is involved in the protective function of P4 against CS-induced COPD. In vitro, P4 co-treatment significantly ameliorated H2O2-induced oxidative injury and mitochondrial dysfunctions by promoting cell proliferation, increasing mitochondrial membrane potential, decreasing ROS levels and apoptosis, and increasing ATP content. Moreover, P4 co-treatment partially attenuated H2O2-caused inhibition in Nrf1, Tfam, Mfn1, PGR-B, c-MYC, SIRT1, and PGC-1α levels. In BEAS-2B and ASM cells, the c-MYC/SIRT1 axis regulated P4's protective effects against H2O2-induced oxidative injury and mitochondrial dysfunctions. Conclusion: P4 activates the c-MYC/SIRT1 axis, ameliorating CS-induced COPD and protecting both airway epithelial cells and smooth muscle cells against H2O2-induced oxidative damage. Insoluble dietary fiber (IDF) in soybean meal, due to the insolubility, is one of the major impediments to upcycle the soybean meal for its value‐added use. This study converted IDF to soluble dietary fiber (SDF) using ball milling and enzymatic hydrolysis of the IDF. The impact of ball milling and enzymatic hydrolysis on the physicochemical and functional properties of SDF was evaluated. Cellulase, hemicellulase, xylanase, galacturonase, and arabinofuranosidase were employed for hydrolyzing IDF. The results showed that ball milling significantly reduced the particle size of IDF, facilitating enhanced enzymatic hydrolysis and resulting in SDF with lower molecular weight and varied monosaccharide composition. The synergistic effect of ball milling and enzymatic processes with combination of cellulase–xylanase–galacturonase was evident by the improved conversion rates (69.8%) and altered weight‐averaged molecular weight (<5900 Da) of the resulting SDF. Rheological and microstructural analyses of the SDF gel indicated that specific enzyme combinations led to SDF gels with distinct viscoelastic properties, pore sizes, and functional capabilities, suitable for varied applications in the food and pharmaceutical sectors. Background: Severe COVID-19 infection has been associated with the development of pulmonary fibrosis, a condition that significantly affects patient prognosis. Understanding the underlying cellular communication mechanisms contributing to this fibrotic process is crucial. Objective: In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of the TNFSF12-TNFRSF12A pathway in mediating communication between alveolar macrophages and fibroblasts, and its implications for the development of pulmonary fibrosis in severe COVID-19 patients. Methods: We conducted single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis using lung tissue samples from severe COVID-19 patients and healthy controls. The data was processed, analyzed, and cell types were annotated. We focused on the communication between alveolar macrophages and fibroblasts and identified key signaling pathways. In vitro experiments were performed to validate our findings, including the impact of TNFRSF12A silencing on fibrosis reversal. Results: Our analysis revealed that in severe COVID-19 patients, alveolar macrophages communicate with fibroblasts primarily through the TNFSF12-TNFRSF12A pathway. This communication pathway promotes fibroblast proliferation and expression of fibrotic factors. Importantly, silencing TNFRSF12A effectively reversed the pro-proliferative and pro-fibrotic effects of alveolar macrophages. Conclusion: The TNFSF12-TNFRSF12A pathway plays a central role in alveolar macrophage-fibroblast communication and contributes to pulmonary fibrosis in severe COVID-19 patients. Recycling of used products can provide substantial economic and environmental benefits for supply chain players. However, many factors associated with the design of closed-loop supply chain networks are uncertain in their nature, including demand, opening cost of facilities, capacity of opened facilities, transportation cost, and procurement cost. Therefore, this study proposes a novel fuzzy programming model for closed-loop supply chain network design, which directly relies on the fuzzy ranking method based on a credibility measure. The objective of the presented optimization model aims at minimizing the total cost of the network when selecting the facility locations and transportation routes between the nodes of the network. Based on the problem characteristics, a Migratory Birds Optimization Algorithm with a new product source encoding scheme is developed as a solution approach. The inspiration for the product source coding method originates from the label information of raw material supplier and manufacturing factories on product packaging, as well as the information of each logistics node on the delivery order. This novel encoding method aims to address the limitations of four traditional encoding methods: Prüfer number based encoding, spanning tree based encoding, forest data structure based encoding, and priority based encoding, thereby increasing the likelihood of heuristic algorithms finding the optimal solution. Thirty-five illustrative examples are developed to evaluate the proposed algorithm against the exact optimization method (LINGO) and a Genetic Algorithm, Ant Colony Optimization, Simulated Annealing, which are recognized as well-known metaheuristic algorithms. The results from extensive experiments show that the proposed algorithm is able to provide optimal and good-quality solutions within acceptable computational time even for large-scale numerical examples. The suitability of the model is confirmed through a meticulous sensitivity analysis. This analysis involves adjusting the confidence level incrementally from 50% to 100%, in 5% intervals, with respect to the model's uncertain parameters. Enrichment analysis contextualizes biological features in pathways to facilitate a systematic understanding of high-dimensional data and is widely used in biomedical research. The emerging reporter score-based analysis (RSA) method shows more promising sensitivity, as it relies on P -values instead of raw values of features. However, RSA cannot be directly applied to multi-group and longitudinal experimental designs and is often misused due to the lack of a proper tool. Here, we propose the Generalized Reporter Score-based Analysis (GRSA) method for multi-group and longitudinal omics data. A comparison with other popular enrichment analysis methods demonstrated that GRSA had increased sensitivity across multiple benchmark datasets. We applied GRSA to microbiome, transcriptome and metabolome data and discovered new biological insights in omics studies. Finally, we demonstrated the application of GRSA beyond functional enrichment using a taxonomy database. We implemented GRSA in an R package, ReporterScore, integrating with a powerful visualization module and updatable pathway databases, which is available on the Comprehensive R Archive Network (https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/ReporterScore). Background: Gastric motility disorder is an increasingly common problem among people with diabetes. Neurotransmitters have been recognized as critical regulators in the process of gastric motility. Previous study has shown that herb pair huanglian‐banxia (HL‐BX) can improve gastric motility, but the underlying mechanism is still unclear. The aim of this study was to further investigate the role of HL‐BX in modulating brain‐gut neurotransmission to promote gastric motility in diabetic rats, and to explore its possible mechanism. Methods: The diabetic rats were divided into five groups. Gastric emptying rate, intestinal propulsion rate, body weight, and average food intake were determined. Substance P (SP), 5‐ hydroxytryptamine (5‐HT), and glucagon‐like peptide −1 (GLP‐1) in the serum were measured by enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay. Dopamine (DA) and norepinephrine (NE) in the brain were analyzed by high‐pressure liquid chromatography with a fluorescence detector. Protein expression of the tissues in the stomach and brain was determined by Western blot. Key Results: HL‐BX reduced average food intake significantly, increased body weight, and improved gastric emptying rate and intestinal propulsion rate. HL‐BX administration caused a significant increase in SP, GLP‐1, and 5‐HT, but a significant decrease in DA and NE. Interestingly, HL‐BX regulated simultaneously the different expressions of MAPK and its downstream p70S6K/S6 signaling pathway in the stomach and brain. Moreover, berberine exhibited a similar effect to HL‐BX. Conclusions: These results indicated that HL‐BX promoted gastric motility by regulating brain‐gut neurotransmitters through the MAPK signaling pathway. Background: Information on lentigo maligna (LM) and lentigo maligna melanoma (LMM) in the 21st century is scarce. We aimed to elucidate the incidence of LM and LMM using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) 17 Registries. Methods: The data of patients diagnosed between 2000 and 2019 were extracted from the SEER database. The percentage of LM/LMM cases among all melanoma patients, age‐standardized incidence rates, estimated annual percentage changes, and the cumulative incidence of LMM after LM were calculated. Results: The SEER data yielded 95,175 patients with LM/LMM between 2000 and 2019. Cases of LM/LMM accounted for 15.7% of all melanomas. The age‐standardized incidence per 100,000 person‐years for LM increased from 4.16 to 5.61 and for LMM from 1.33 to 2.35 between 2000 and 2019. The annual increase in incidence of LM was 2.42%, and that of LMM was 3.32%. The cumulative incidence of LMM after a primary LM after 10‐year follow‐up was 0.94%. Conclusions: This study provides the first comprehensive analysis of the epidemiological status of LM/LMM in the United States in the 21st century using the population‐based SEER data. Background: Circulating tumor cell (CTC) clusters play a critical role in carcinoma metastasis. However, the rarity of CTC clusters and the limitations of capture techniques have retarded the research progress. In vitro CTC clusters model can help to further understand the biological properties of CTC clusters and their clinical significance. Therefore, it is necessary to establish reliable in vitro methodological models to form CTC clusters whose biological characteristics are very similar to clinical CTC clusters. Methods: The assays of immunofluorescence, transmission electron microscopy, EdU incorporation, cell adhension and microfluidic chips were used. The experimental metastasis model in mice was used. Results: We systematically optimized the culture methods to form in vitro CTC clusters model, and more importantly, evaluated it with reference to the biological capabilities of reported clinical CTC clusters. In vitro CTC clusters exhibited a high degree of similarity to the reported pathological characteristics of CTC clusters isolated from patients at different stages of tumor metastasis, including the appearance morphology, size, adhesive and tight junctions-associated proteins, and other indicators of CTC clusters. Furthermore, in vivo experiments also demonstrated that the CTC clusters had an enhanced ability to grow and metastasize compared to single CTC. An amorphous silica ceramic coating with thicknesses exceeding 100 μm (adjustable thickness) was prepared on 6061 aluminum alloy by plasma electrolytic oxidation in organosilicon electrolyte. To investigate its formation process and structural characteristics, the digital microscope system, SEM, X-ray diffractometer and microhardness tester were used to characterize morphology, structure and hardness at different voltages and times. The results show that it thickens rapidly after the voltage is raised to 480–500 V, and its surface begins to roughen and the micropores appear to enlarge. In organosilicon electrolyte, unlike conventional electrolytes, the coarse Al–Fe–Si second phase particles in the matrix do not negatively affect the PEO treatment. The produced coatings increase the surface hardness of 6061 aluminum alloy by more than 6 times and are stable in common acid solutions such as HCl and HNO 3. Furthermore, the energy consumption rate of PEO treatment can be significantly reduced to 0.24–0.31 kJ cm−2 μm−1. The potentiodynamic polarization curves measured in 1 mol L−1 HCl solution show that the ceramic coating can reduce the corrosion current density of 6061 aluminum alloy from 3.74 × 10−2 A cm−2 to 2.24 × 10−6 A cm−2. And its corrosion resistance can be further improved by adding a 2nd low-voltage PEO treatment. Background: Cutaneous melanoma is a kind of skin malignancy with low morbidity but high mortality. Cryptotanshinone (CPT), an important component of salvia miltiorrhiza has potent anti-tumor activity and also indicates therapeutic effect on dermatosis. So we thought that CPT maybe a potential agent for therapy of cutaneous melanoma. Methods: B16F10 and A375 melanoma cells were used for in vitro assay. Tumor graft models were made in C57BL/6N and BALB/c nude mice for in vivo assay. Seahorse XF Glycolysis Stress Test Kit was used to detect extracellular acidification rate and oxygen consumption rate. Si-RNAs were used for knocking down adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) expression in melanoma cells. Results: CPT could inhibit the proliferation of melanoma cells. Meanwhile, CPT changed the glucose metabolism and inhibited phosphofructokinase (PFK)-mediated glycolysis in melanoma cells to a certain extent. Importantly, CPT activated AMPK and inhibited the expression of hypoxia inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α). Both AMPK inhibitor and silencing AMPK could partially reverse CPT's effect on cell proliferation, cell apoptosis and glycolysis. Finally, in vivo experimental data demonstrated that CPT blocked the growth of melanoma, in which was dependent on the glycolysis-mediated cell proliferation. Conclusions: CPT activated AMPK and then inhibited PFK-mediated aerobic glycolysis leading to inhibition of growth of cutaneous melanoma. Water leakages can affect the safety and durability of shield tunnels, so rapid and accurate identification and diagnosis are urgently needed. However, current leakage detection methods are mostly based on mobile LiDAR data, making it challenging to detect leakage damage in both mobile and terrestrial LiDAR data simultaneously, and the detection results are not intuitive. Therefore, an integrated cylindrical voxel and Mask R-CNN method for water leakage inspection is presented in this paper. This method includes the following three steps: (1) a 3D cylindrical-voxel data organization structure is constructed to transform the tunnel point cloud from disordered to ordered and achieve the projection of a 3D point cloud to a 2D image; (2) automated leakage segmentation and localization is carried out via Mask R-CNN; (3) the segmentation results of water leakage are mapped back to the 3D point cloud based on a cylindrical-voxel structure of shield tunnel point cloud, achieving the expression of water leakage disease in 3D space. The proposed approach can efficiently detect water leakage and leakage not only in mobile laser point cloud data but also in ground laser point cloud data, especially in processing its curved parts. Additionally, it achieves the visualization of water leakage in shield tunnels in 3D space, making the water leakage results more intuitive. Experimental validation is conducted based on the MLS and TLS point cloud data collected in Nanjing and Suzhou, respectively. Compared with the current commonly used detection method, which combines cylindrical projection and Mask R-CNN, the proposed method can achieve water leakage detection and 3D visualization in different tunnel scenarios, and the accuracy of water leakage detection of the method in this paper has improved by nearly 10%. Reciprocal self‐disclosure has reportedly been associated with increased interpersonal trust. However, existing research mainly focuses on online disclosure between acquaintances and overlooks the types of reciprocal disclosure, especially in the initial interactions between strangers communicating online. This study aimed to investigate how three types of reciprocal self‐disclosure (turn‐taking reciprocity, extended reciprocity and non‐reciprocity) contribute to trust and the mechanism of positive interpersonal liking, and whether any effect was instant and stable or increased across two interactions during computer‐mediated communication (CMC). Participants were assigned to one of the three reciprocal disclosure conditions and engaged in online interactions. Self‐reported and behavioural results demonstrated higher levels of interpersonal trust and liking in the second interaction phase than in the first across all conditions. The turn‐taking reciprocity condition showed higher interpersonal trust than did the extended condition, and higher interpersonal liking than did the extended and non‐reciprocity conditions; this effect was apparent in both interactions. These findings help us understand the relationship between online self‐disclosure and interpersonal trust, suggesting that certain patterns of communication with strangers (e.g., turn‐taking reciprocity) may foster more positive social outcomes during CMC over time, while demonstrating the importance of immediacy in synchronous conversations. Emissions of maritime transport have been a critical research topic with the substantial growth in the global shipping industry, encompassing both the expansion of the world fleet and the increased distances it has been covering recently. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has enforced some regulations to mitigate ship Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, which affect vessels' operational practice, and further affect service reliability. In this paper, some compliance methods (two-speed strategy, fuel switching, and LNG) against Emission Control Areas (ECAs) at the operational level are examined regarding if and how they impact the liner shipping schedule and service reliability; meanwhile, uncertain weather conditions and port times, as the main uncertain factors, are also involved. Then, a bi-objective fuzzy programming model is formulated and solved by the augmented ε -constraint approach, which generates a set of Pareto solutions by balancing the economic and environmental sustainability. Some findings can be concluded through the experimental results, including that, firstly, to meet uncertain weather conditions at sea requires strong robustness; secondly, ECA regulations can negatively affect the liner shipping service level; moreover, slow steaming is an immediate and effective measure to reduce GHG emissions; and, furthermore, ship routing choice could have a significant influence on ship emissions and service reliability. Objective: The persistence of HPV infection is a significant etiological factor in the development of cervical cancer. The present study investigated the prevalence and genotype distribution of human papillomavirus (HPV) in a cohort of 164,137 unvaccinated women from Wenzhou, aiming to provide guidance for clinics in the cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination strategies. Methods: The present retrospective study included a total of 164,137 women, comprising 118,484 outpatients and 45,653 healthy female subjects recruited from 2015 to 2020. Cervical exfoliated cells were collected from these participants for subsequent DNA extraction. The extracted DNA samples were underwent analysis using a fluorescence in situ hybridization method, encompassing the detection of 27 HPV genotypes. Results: The overall prevalence of HPV was 17.35%; this corresponded to a prevalence of 19.10% in the outpatient group and 12.82% in the healthy female group. Among the outpatient group, the five most prevalent HPV genotypes were identified as HPV 52, 58, 16, 53, and 61. In the healthy female group, the five most common HPV genotypes were found to be HPV 52, 53, 58, 61, and 81. Additionally, it was estimated that the highest rate of HPV infection occurred among individuals aged between 10 and 19 years old (44.65%) and those aged between 60 and 69 years old (27.35%). Conclusions: The prevalence of HPV in this region is substantial; therefore, it is imperative to implement scientifically sound and rational clinical interventions such as vaccination. Routine cervical screening should be performed to prevent the development of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia resulting from persistent infection with high-risk HPV, particularly in women with gynecological diseases and those over 60 years old. Real-world data often exhibits a long-tailed distribution, in which head classes occupy most of the data, while tail classes only have very few samples. Models trained on long-tailed datasets have poor adaptability to tail classes and the decision boundaries are ambiguous. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a simple yet effective model, named Dual-Branch Long-Tailed Recognition (DB-LTR), which includes an imbalanced learning branch and a Contrastive Learning Branch (CoLB). The imbalanced learning branch, which consists of a shared backbone and a linear classifier, leverages common imbalanced learning approaches to tackle the data imbalance issue. In CoLB, we learn a prototype for each tail class, and calculate an inter-branch contrastive loss, an intra-branch contrastive loss and a metric loss. CoLB can improve the capability of the model in adapting to tail classes and assist the imbalanced learning branch to learn a well-represented feature space and discriminative decision boundary. Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) was performed on 6061 aluminum alloy in organosilicon electrolyte using a stepwise constant potential control method for 23 min. The resulting coating was a sponge-like structured amorphous silica ceramic with a thickness of about 130 μm. Its exceptional wear resistance was attributed to the high hardness of the silica ceramic and the low elastic modulus of the sponge-like structure. The corrosion resistance was enhanced by a dense layer of approximately 2 μm between the coating and the substrate. Impressively, the indentation depth of the PEO coating during nano-indentation tests was only 50–60% of that of 6061 aluminium alloy under varying loads, while the recovery depth of the PEO coating after unloading was 2.5–3.1 times greater than that of 6061 aluminium alloy. Due to its special composition and structure, the PEO coating caused serious wear to the high hardness Si 3 N 4 friction balls during the friction and wear test. In the electrochemical tests, the coating reduced the corrosion current density from 1.056 × 10−5A·cm−2 to 1.239 × 10−7A·cm−2, while extending the passivation region from 0.322 V to 1.032 V. Introduction: The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that intravenous tirofiban improves functional outcomes without promoting the risk of intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) in stroke secondary to basilar artery occlusion (BAO) receiving endovascular thrombectomy. Methods: Patients with acute BAO stroke who were treated with endovascular thrombectomy and had tirofiban treatment information were derived from "BASILAR": a nationwide, prospective registry. All eligible patients were divided into tirofiban and no-tirofiban groups according to whether tirofiban was used intravenously. The primary endpoint was the 90-day severity of disability as assessed by the modified Rankin scale score. Safety outcomes were the frequency of ICH and mortality. Results: Of 645 patients included in this cohort, 363 were in the tirofiban group and 282 were in the no-tirofiban group. Thrombectomy with intravenous tirofiban reduced the 90-day disability level over the range of the modified Rankin scale (adjusted common odds ratio, 2.08; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.45–2.97; p < 0.001). The 90-day mortality of patients in the tirofiban group was lower than that in the no-tirofiban group (41.6% vs. 52.1%; adjusted hazard ratio, 0.60; 95% CI, 0.47–0.77; p < 0.001). The frequency of any ICH (6.7% vs. 13.7%; p = 0.004) and symptomatic ICH (4.8% vs. 10.1%; p = 0.01) in the tirofiban group was significantly lower than that in the no-tirofiban group. Conclusions: In patients with acute BAO stroke who underwent endovascular treatment, intravenous tirofiban might be associated with favorable outcome, reduced mortality, and a decreased frequency of ICH. This paper focuses on the analysis of the COVID-19 effects on passenger shipping in Danish waters as an example and aims to analyse the differences in passenger vessel activities and emissions before and after the COVID-19 outbreak. Two sets of Automatic Identification System (AIS) data for the passenger ships sailing in Danish waters associated with the whole year respectively for 2020 and 2019 are used for a comprehensive evaluation of the passenger shipping activities in the region by means of the analysis of variance and bottom-up emission models. A comparison of those results based on the two datasets shows that the COVID-19 pandemic has a major impact on cruise ships, with a significant reduction in the number of ships, average speed, and average draught. In contrast, the pandemic has a smaller impact on ferry-pax only and ferry-ro pax vessels. The effects can also be seen from the fact that, after the COVID-19 outbreak, SOx emissions from cruise ships, ferry-pax only and ferry-ro pax vessels were reduced by 50.71%, 0.51% and 0.82%, respectively. Soil nitrogen (N) transformation, a key microbial process in global N cycling, is thought to alter soil N availability and subsequently regulate ecosystem functioning. In particular, the gross rates of N transformation can provide a deeper understanding of internal N dynamics and mechanisms, but questions of whether gross N transformation processes and their underlying drivers change with seasons and elevations remain large uncertain.Based on field collection along an elevational gradient and laboratory incubation experiments, we investigated the seasonal processes of soil N mineralization and nitrification with 15N isotope dilution technique, and also explored the potential mechanisms involved in the Hengduan Mountains.Unimodal soil gross/net mineralization rates were higher in the wet season (61.32 mg kg−1 day−1; 1.01 mg kg−1 day−1 respectively) than in the dry season (10.88 mg kg−1 day−1; 0.55 mg kg−1 day−1 respectively) (p < 0.001), with a peak at medium elevation. Soil gross/net nitrification rates were lower in the wet season (1.43 mg kg−1 day−1; −0.017 mg kg−1 day−1) than in the dry season (2.49 mg kg−1 day−1; 0.004 mg kg−1 day−1 respectively) (p < 0.001), which increased with increasing elevation. The results detected the dominant drivers of the gross transformation rates, specifically microbial attributes occupied crucial roles in controlling the gross mineralization/nitrification in the wet season, and soil physicochemical properties were dominant controllers on the gross mineralization/nitrification during the dry season.This study revealed the divergent patterns and drivers of N transformation, suggesting that seasonal N cycling should no longer be overlooked if we are to predict N biogeochemical cycles in response to environmental change accurately. Single-nucleotide variants (SNVs) and copy number variations (CNVs) are the most common genomic variations that cause phenotypic diversity and genetic disorders. MALDI–TOF–MS is a rapid and cost-effective technique for multi-variant genotyping, but it is challenging to efficiently detect CNVs and clustered SNVs, especially to simultaneously detect CNVs and SNVs in one reaction. Herein, a novel strategy termed Target-Allele-Specific Probe Single-Base Extension (TASP-SBE) was devised to efficiently detect CNVs and clustered SNVs with MALDI–TOF–MS. By comprehensive use of traditional SBE and TASP-SBE strategies, a MALDI–TOF–MS assay was also developed to simultaneously detect 28 α-/β-thalassemia mutations in a single reaction system, including 4 α-thalassemia deletions, 3 HBA and 21 HBB SNVs. The results showed that all 28 mutations were sensitively identified, and the CNVs of HBA/HBB genes were also accurately analyzed based on the ratio of peak height (RPH) between the target allele and reference gene. The double-blind evaluation results of 989 thalassemia carrier samples showed a 100% concordance of this assay with other methods. In conclusion, a one-tube MALDI–TOF–MS assay was developed to simultaneously genotype 28 thalassemia mutations. Implicit-explicit midpoint (IMEX MP) formula is proposed to solve numerically nonlinear neutral functional differential equations (NFDEs) with state-dependent delay. Since the deviating argument will be explicitly treated, the proposed method is extremely effective. Second order convergence of this method is shown theoretically and numerically for NFDEs with smooth solutions and Volterra functional differential equations (VFDEs). For general NFDEs with nonsmooth solutions, regularization problem by smoothing the initial data is introduced and analyzed. The regularization error is derived in maximum norm. The global errors of IMEX MP method are derived and reveal that it is only first order of convergence for this regularization error or for the non-smoothness of the original problems. Family violence as an inducing factor of depressive symptoms has been confirmed in previous studies. However, the mechanisms underlying this association are not well understood, particularly in Chinese adolescents. Guided by the social-ecological diathesis-stress model, this three-wave longitudinal study aimed to examine the effects of an individual's cognitive vulnerabilities (rejection-sensitivity anxiety and negative cognitive error) and positive societal contexts (peer support) on the link between family violence and depressive symptoms in Chinese society. A total of 859 Chinese adolescents (44.35 % female; M age = 12.73, SD = 0.43 at baseline) completed self-reporting surveys that assessed variables associated with study and peer-nominated peer support. The results showed that family violence increased the incidence of depressive symptoms in adolescents after two years, resulting in rejection-sensitivity anxiety and negative cognitive error. Surprisingly, higher self-reported peer support, although not peer-nominated support, exacerbated rather than mitigated this indirect effect, supporting the reverse stress-buffering model and extending the healthy context paradox. Most of the measures were based on participants' self-reports. Under the condition of sufficient base class samples and a few novel class samples, Generalized Few-shot Semantic Segmentation (GFSS) classifies each pixel in the query image as base class, novel class, or background. A standard GFSS approach involves two training stages: base class learning and novel class updating. However, inter-class interference and information loss which contribute to the poor performance of GFSS, have not been synthetical considered. To address the problem, we propose an Embedded-Self-Supplementing Network (ESSNet), i.e., semantic word embedding and query set self-supplementing information to enhance segmentation accuracy. Specifically, the semantic word embedding module employs distance information between word vectors to assist the model in learning the distance between class prototypes. In order to transform the semantic word vector prototypes from the semantic space to the visual embedding space, we designed a triplet loss function to supervise the word vector embedding module, where the word vector prototype serves as an anchor and positive-negative samples are collected among the general features of the support image. To compensate for the information loss caused by using prototypes to represent classes, we propose a self-supplementing module to mine the information contained in the query image. Specifically, this module first makes a preliminary prediction on the query image, then selects high-confidence area to form pseudo labels, and finally uses pseudo labels to extract query prototypes to supplement the missing information. Extensive experiments on PASCAL-5 i and COCO-20 i show that ESSNet has superior performance and outperforms state-of-the-art methods in all settings. Direct shear creep tests have scarcely been used for long-term creep behavior studies of landslides in the Three Gorges reservoir area. In this study, based on field investigations and monitoring of the Huangtupo Landslide, direct shear creep tests were performed on the sliding zone soil of Riverside Slump #1, and the creep characteristics of sliding zone soil after varying cycles of reservoir water level fluctuation were studied. Using the creep results, the Mohr–Coulomb parameters were obtained by numerical simulation, and the deformation pattern of the reservoir landslide was analyzed. The results show that the direct shear creep of sliding zone soil can mainly be divided into stages of attenuation creep and steady-state creep. Under the same shear stress, with the increase of loading–unloading cycles N, the soil's strain and shear strain rate in the sliding zone decreased accordingly, and the long-term strength gradually improved. As the shear stress increases, the shear strain rate increases and the creep of the soil in the sliding zone has an obvious time effect. Our numerical simulation results showed good agreement with both the landslide deformation monitoring data and direct shear testing data. The Burgers model is suitable for describing creep deformation of landslides under fluctuating reservoir water levels. Under high shear stress, the fitted curve showcased both attenuation and constant velocity characteristics. Numerical simulation and burger model can reflect the direct shear creep test characteristics well. Phytoremediation is an economical and effective strategy to remove cadmium (Cd) from polluted environments. To improve its efficiency, nanotechnology has been proposed to collaborate with hyperaccumulators in the remediation of Cd-polluted soils. However, the intricate structure-function relationship and the underlying regulatory mechanisms by which nanomaterials regulate Cd migration and conversion within the soil-plant system remained unrevealed. In this study, functional carbon nanodots (FCNs) were modified by doping with nitrogen and (or) sulfur elements. The synthesized nonmetallic atoms-doped FCNs were utilized to investigate their structure-function relationship and the regulatory mechanisms underlying their role in the phytoremediation of Cd-polluted soils by Tagetes patula L. FCNs-based nanomaterials can regulate the migration and bioaccumulation of Cd in the soil-plant system, which exhibits an obvious structural dependency. Specifically, the synergistic application of sulfur doped FCNs and Tagetes patula L. had the highest Cd removal efficiency of 53.2 %, which was 20.1 % higher than Tagetes patula L. alone. The uptake and migration of Cd in the soil-plant system are regulated by FCNs-based nanomaterials through both direct and indirect mechanisms, involving interfacial reactions, plant physiology regulation and environmental influence. This study not only sheds light on the fate of FCNs-based nanomaterials and Cd in the soil-plant system, but also provides innovative nanotools for reinforcing phytoremediation efficiency in contaminated soils. Ferroptosis is a newly identified form of non-apoptotic programmed cell death resulting from iron-dependent lipid peroxidation. It is controlled by integrated oxidation and antioxidant systems. Ferroptosis exerts a crucial effect on the carcinogenesis of several cancers, including pulmonary cancer. Herein, a ferroptosis-associated gene signature for lung cancer prognosis and diagnosis was identified using integrative bioinformatics analyses. From the FerrDB database, 256 ferroptotic regulators and markers were identified. Of these, 25 exhibited differential expression between lung cancer and non-cancerous samples, as evidenced by the GSE19804 and GSE7670 datasets from the GEO database. Utilizing LASSO Cox regression analysis on TCGA-LUAD data, a potent 3-gene risk signature comprising CAV1, RRM2, and EGFR was established. This signature adeptly differentiates various survival outcomes in lung cancer patients, including overall survival and disease-specific intervals. Based on the 3-gene risk signature, lung cancer patients were categorized into high-risk and low-risk groups. Comparative analysis revealed 69 differentially expressed genes between these groups, with UBE2Z significantly associated with overall survival in TCGA-LUAD. UBE2Z was found to be upregulated in LUAD tissues and cells compared to normal controls. Functionally, the knockdown of UBE2Z curtailed aggressive behaviors in LUAD cells, including viability, migration, and invasion. Moreover, this knockdown led to a decrease in the mesenchymal marker vimentin while elevating the epithelial marker E-cadherin within LUAD cell lines. In conclusion, the ferroptosis-associated 3-gene risk signature effectively differentiates prognosis and clinical features in patients with lung cancer. The noise and redundant information are the main reasons for the performance bottleneck of medical image segmentation algorithms based on the deep learning. To this end, we propose a deep network embedded with rough fuzzy discretization (RFDDN) for OCT fundus image segmentation. Firstly, we establish the information decision table of OCT fundus image segmentation, and regard each category of segmentation region as a fuzzy set. Then, we use the fuzzy c-means clustering to get the membership degrees of pixels to each segmentation region. According to membership functions and the equivalence relation generated by the brightness attribute, we design the individual fitness function based on the rough fuzzy set, and use a genetic algorithm to search for the best breakpoints to discretize the features of OCT fundus images. Finally, we take the feature discretization based on the rough fuzzy set as the pre-module of the deep neural network, and introduce the deep supervised attention mechanism to obtain the important multi-scale information. We compare RFDDN with U-Net, ReLayNet, CE-Net, MultiResUNet, and ISCLNet on the two groups of 3D retinal OCT data. RFDDN is superior to the other five methods on all evaluation indicators. The results obtained by ISCLNet are the second only inferior to those obtained by RFDDN. DSC, sensitivity, and specificity of RFDDN are evenly 3.3%, 2.6%, and 7.1% higher than those of ISCLNet, respectively. HD95 and ASD of RFDDN are evenly 6.6% and 19.7% lower than those of ISCLNet, respectively. The experimental results show that our method can effectively eliminate the noise and redundant information in Oct fundus images, and greatly improve the accuracy of OCT fundus image segmentation while taking into account the interpretability and computational efficiency. The purpose of this paper is to deal with the perception variance problem in regret model by scaling perception variance and relaxing the distribution assumption of the random error term, which are corresponding to the attribute and alternative differences, respectively. Specifically, the power coefficient in regret function can capture individual perception variance of specific attributes and latent class structure is used to analyze individual heterogeneity of alternative differences by defining weight function. Accordingly, perceiving behaviors of individuals are analyzed in depth and generating absolute and relative behavior interpretation and asymmetric property. The proposed models are estimated and analyzed using GPS data of taxis in Guangzhou, and bicycle household surveys are collected in Tel Aviv metropolitan area. The results show both significant effects of attributes on drivers' and cyclists' route choice behavior and identification of different types (absolute or relative) of perceiving attribute and alternative regret differences of the two travelers by incorporating the ratio of length between chosen route and the shortest route. The natural abundance of stable nitrogen isotopes (δ15N) provides insights into the N dynamics of terrestrial ecosystems, the determination of which is considered an effective approach for gaining a better understanding ecosystem N cycling. However, there is currently little information available regarding the patterns and mechanisms underlying the variation in foliar‐soil δ15N among mountain ecosystems. In this study, we examined the determinants of foliar‐soil δ15N in association with N transportation rates along an elevational gradient in the Hengduan Mountains. Despite the relatively high levels of available N produced from high N fixation and mineralization, we detected the lowest levels of foliar δ15N at 3500 m a.s.l., reflecting the stronger vegetation N limitation at medium high elevations. The enhanced vegetation N limitation was driven by the combined effects of higher microbial immobilization and inherent plant dynamic (the shifts of δ15N in vegetation preference, including vegetation community) with changing climate along the elevational gradient. Unexpectedly, we established that soil δ15N was characterized by an undulating rise and uncoupled correlation with foliar δ15N with increasing elevation, thereby indicating that litter input might not be a prominent driver of soil δ15N. Conversely, soil nitrification and denitrification were found to make a more pronounced contribution to the pattern of soil δ15N along the elevational gradient. Collectively, our results serve to highlight the importance of microbial immobilization in soil N dynamics and provide novel insights that will contribute to enhancing our understanding of N cycling as indicated by foliar‐soil δ15N along elevational gradients. Class imbalance learning is one of the most important topics in the field of machine learning and data mining, and the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Techniques (SMOTE) is the common method to handle this issue. The main shortcomings of the classic SMOTE and its variants is the interpolation of potential noise and unrepresentative examples. This paper is devoted to proposing a novel parameter-free SMOTE mechanism to produce sufficient representative synthetic examples while avoiding interpolating noisy examples. Specifically, two types of minority class examples are defined, namely boundary and safe minority examples. The synthetic examples generation procedure fully reflects the characteristics of the minority class examples with filling the region dominated by the minority class and expanding the margin of the minority class. To verify the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method, a thorough experimental study on forty datasets selected from real-world applications is carried out. Determining the vegetation that prevailed on the southeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau during the Late Pleistocene is critical to debates on human dispersal into East Asia during the early Late Pleistocene. Here, we present a carbon stable isotope (δ13C) record for lake sediments from Tengchong Qinghai Lake in Yunnan, and we reconstruct the vegetation changes over the past 90000 years in terms of the relative abundances of C 3 and C 4 plants. Our δ13C record shows that the vegetation shifted from C 3 -plant dominance to more mixed C 3 and C 4 plants during 78.6 to 58.6 ka B.P., indicating a shift to a more open forest environment. These changes coincided with the occupation history of Homo sapiens in southern China. The disposable paper cups (DPCs) release millions of microplastics (MPs) when used for hot beverages. However, the tissue-specific deposition and toxic effects of MPs and associated toxins remain largely unexplored, especially at daily consumption levels. We administered MPs and associated toxins extracted from leading brand DPCs to pregnant mice, revealing dose-responsive harmful effects on fetal development and maternal physiology. MPs were detected in all 13 examined tissues, with preferred depositions in the fetus, placenta, kidney, spleen, lung, and heart, contributing to impaired phenotypes. Brain tissues had the smallest MPs (90.35 % < 10 µm). A dose-responsive shift in the cecal microbiome from Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes was observed, coupled with enhanced biosynthesis of microbial fatty acids. A moderate consumption of 3.3 cups daily was sufficient to alter the cecal microbiome, global metabolic functions, and immune health, as reflected by tissue-specific transcriptomic analyses in maternal blood, placenta, and mammary glands, leading to neurodegenerative and miscarriage risks. Gene-based benchmark dose framework analysis suggested a safe exposure limit of 2 to 4 cups/day in pregnant mice. Our results highlight tissue-specific accumulation and metabolic and reproductive toxicities in mice at DPC consumption levels presumed non-hazardous, with potential health implications for pregnant women and fetuses. Incorporating low-temperature renewable energy sources such as geothermal energy, solar energy, and waste heat into district heating and cooling systems is expected to be an effective solution for reducing fossil energy consumption and carbon emissions. This study aims to propose an optimal intelligent control strategy for the water-source heat pump coupled with an ice storage district cooling system, which can fully maximize the economic potential of renewable energy and ice storage systems. The proposed control strategy treats the ice melt cooling rate, water supply temperature, and cooling ratio of the water source heat pump as three independent control variables. The minimum operating cost per unit of cooling supply is identified as the optimal objective function of the genetic algorithm. An integrated heat transfer model of the water-source heat pump coupled with an ice storage district cooling system was developed, and experimental test data verified its accuracy. Compared with the ice melting priority control strategy and the water-source heat pump priority control strategy, the GA-based optimal control strategy saved 8.7–9.3% of the operating cost while maintaining a relatively good energy-saving performance. SUMMARY: Panicle development is an important determinant of the grain number in rice. A thorough characterization of the molecular mechanism underlying panicle development will lead to improved breeding of high‐yielding rice varieties. Frizzy Panicle (FZP), a critical gene for panicle development, is regulated by OsBZR1 and OsARFs at the transcriptional stage. However, the translational modulation of FZP has not been reported. We reveal that the CU‐rich elements (CUREs) in the 3′ UTR of the FZP mRNA are crucial for efficient FZP translation. The knockout of CUREs in the FZP 3′ UTR or the over‐expression of the FZP 3′ UTR fragment containing CUREs resulted in an increase in FZP mRNA translation efficiency. Moreover, the number of secondary branches (NSB) and the grain number per panicle (GNP) decreased in the transformed rice plants. The CUREs in the 3′ UTR of FZP mRNA were verified as the targets of the polypyrimidine tract‐binding proteins OsPTB1 and OsPTB2 in rice. Both OsPTB1 and OsPTB2 were highly expressed in young panicles. The knockout of OsPTB1/2 resulted in an increase in the FZP translational efficiency and a decrease in the NSB and GNP. Furthermore, the over‐expression of OsPTB1/2 decreased the translation of the reporter gene fused to FZP 3′ UTR in vivo and in vitro. These results suggest that OsPTB1/2 can mediate FZP translational repression by interacting with CUREs in the 3′ UTR of FZP mRNA, leading to changes in the NSB and GNP. Accordingly, in addition to transcriptional regulation, FZP expression is also fine‐tuned at the translational stage during rice panicle development. Qingluoyin (QLY) is a representative herbal formula prescribed for hot symptom-related rheumatoid arthritis treatment. Among its derivatives, Xiaoyao-Qingluoyin (XYQLY) attracts increasing attention due to the notable clinical efficacy. In this study, we compared its effects with QLY on adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA) in rats and partially elucidated the antirheumatic mechanism using a network pharmacology-based strategy. After continuous oral treatments, clinical outcomes were systematically evaluated by radiographic, histological, immunohistochemical, and serological analyses. Possibly altered pathways were predicted based on reported interactions between the related chemicals and proteins/genes. The obtained conclusion was further validated by experiments in vitro. QLY and XYQLY eased polyarthritis in AIA rats after repeated doses, which reflected in reduced inflammation and bone degradation and downregulated p-p65, MMP3, and TLR4 expressions in joints. Meanwhile, they restored oxidative stress (MDA, SOD, GSH, T-AOC, and NO) and inflammatory indicators (TNF-α and CO) in serum. Synovium-based immunoblotting assay revealed that QLY and XYQLY were similarly effective in downregulating MMP3 and COX-2, but XYQLY treatment exhibited notable merit in suppressing p-p65 expression. Network pharmacology analysis hinted that XYQLY should exert greater impacts on LPS signaling and the downstream. Based on results from LC-MS analysis, we treated AIA rat-derived peripheral blood mononuclear cells with either QLY or XYQLY-based chemical combinations and confirmed that XYQLY had the better potential in inhibiting TLR4/NF-κB-controlled IL-6 production. Consequently, it led to a more profound decrease in Th17 cells counts. Background: Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) is one of the key factors for the DNA replication process and DNA damage repair. Most proteins interacting with PCNA have a common binding motif: PCNA interacting protein box (PIP box). However, some proteins with non-canonical PIP-box have also been reported to be the key factors that interacted with PCNA. Results: Here we discovered the C terminal of a chromatin-remodeling factor CHR721 with non-canonical PIP-box was essential for interacting with OsPCNA in rice. Both OsPCNA and CHR721 were localized in the nuclei and function in response to DNA damages. Conclusions: Based on the results and previous work, we proposed a working model that CHR721 with non-canonical PIP-box interacted with OsPCNA and both of them probably participate in the DNA damage repair process. To investigate the distribution and behaviour of ocean vessels in the Arctic region and determine the impacts of their emissions, we examine vessel characteristics in conjunction with a series of Automatic Identification System (AIS) data between 2012 and 2016. These datasets, combined with a bottom-up model for estimating pollution emissions, enable us to analyse the level of pollution generated by vessels in the Arctic region. The results indicate that the movements of the vessels and their emissions increase in frequency and continue to do so unless clean energy or technologies are adopted. More than 80% of the emissions are found to be concentrated in the Norwegian and Barents Seas. Emissions from the Northern Sea Route are comparatively low and those from the Northwest Passage are similarly insignificant. Besides, an empirical analysis of the emissions in the Arctic region is carried out following the more restrictive International Maritime Organization (IMO)'s regulations on sulphur emissions that is implemented in 2020. Background: Heart rate (HR) is an important vital sign for evaluating the physiological condition of a newborn infant. Recently, for measuring HR, novel RGB camera-based non-contact techniques have demonstrated their specific superiority compared with other techniques, such as dopplers and thermal cameras. However, they still suffered poor robustness in infants' HR measurements due to frequent body movement.Methods: This paper introduces a framework to improve the robustness of infants' HR measurements by solving motion artifact problems. Our solution is based on the following steps: morphology-based filtering, region-of-interest (ROI) dividing, Eulerian video magnification and majority voting. In particular, ROI dividing improves ROI information utilization. The majority voting scheme improves the statistical robustness by choosing the HR with the highest probability. Additionally, we determined the dividing parameter that leads to the most accurate HR measurements. In order to examine the performance of the proposed method, we collected 4 hours of videos and recorded the corresponding electrocardiogram (ECG) of 9 hospitalized neonates under two different conditions-rest still and visible movements.Results: Experimental results indicate a promising performance: the mean absolute error during rest still and visible movements are 3.39 beats per minute (BPM) and 4.34 BPM, respectively, which improves at least 2.00 and 1.88 BPM compared with previous works. The Bland-Altman plots also show the remarkable consistency of our results and the HR derived from the ground-truth ECG.Conclusions: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study aimed at improving the robustness of neonatal HR measurement under motion artifacts using an RGB camera. Zero-shot learning (ZSL) aims to recognize objects in images when no training data is available for the object classes. Under generalized zero-shot learning (GZSL) setting, the test objects belong to seen or unseen categories. In many recent studies, zero-shot learning is performed by leveraging generative networks to synthesize visual features for unseen class from class-specific semantic features. The user-defined semantic information is incomplete and lack of discriminability. However, most generative methods use user-defined semantic information directly as constraints of the generative model, which makes the visual features synthesized by the models lack of diversity and separability. In this paper, we propose a novel method to improve the semantic feature by utilizing discriminative visual features. Furthermore, a novel Augmented Semantic Feature Based Generative Network (ASFGN) is built to synthesize the separable visual representations for unseen classes. Since GAN-based generative model may suffer from mode collapse, we propose a novel collapse-alleviate loss to improve the training stability and generalization performance of our generative network. Land use change specially affects greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and it can act as a sink/source of GHGs. Alterations in edaphic properties and microbial attributes induced by land use change can individually/interactively contribute to GHG emissions, but how they predictably affect soil CO2, CH4, and N2O emissions remain unclear. Here, we investigated the direct and indirect controls of edaphic properties (i.e., dissolved organic carbon [DOC], soil organic C, total nitrogen, C:N ratio, NH4+‐N, NO3‐‐N, soil temperature [ST], soil moisture [SM], pH, and bulk density [BD]) and microbial attributes (i.e., total phospholipid fatty acids [PLFAs], 18:1ω7c, nitrifying genes [ammonia‐oxidizing archaea, ammonia‐oxidizing bacteria], and denitrifying genes [nirS, nirK, and nosZ]) over the annual soil CO2, CH4, and N2O emissions from the woodland, shrubland, and abandoned land in subtropical China. Soil CO2 and N2O emissions were higher in the afforested lands (woodland and shrubland) than in the abandoned land, but the annual cumulative CH4 uptake did not significantly differ among all land use types. The CO2 emission was positively associated with microbial activities (e.g., total PLFAs), while the CH4 uptake was tightly correlated with soil environments (i.e., ST and SM) and chemical properties (i.e., DOC, C:N ratio, and NH4+‐N concentration), but not significantly related to the methanotrophic bacteria (i.e., 18:1ω7c). Whereas, soil N2O emission was positively associated with nitrifying genes, but negatively correlated with denitrifying genes especially nosZ. Overall, our results suggested that soil CO2 and N2O emissions were directly dependent on microbial attributes, and soil CH4 uptake was more directly related to edaphic properties rather than microbial attributes. Thus, different patterns of soil CO2, CH4, and N2O emissions and associated controls following land use change provided novel insights into predicting the effects of afforestation on climate change mitigation outcomes.
