The researchers analyzed data from 1,961 patients in STEP 1 and807 patients in STEP 2 as well as 611 patients in STEP 3 and 304patients in STEP 5 - 3,683 participants in total, of which 539 wereon antidepressants at baseline. Patients were included if they were aged 18 or older with abody mass index >=30 kg/m2, or >=27 kg/m2 withmore than one weight-related complication (STEP 1, 3, and 5) orBMI >=27 kg/m2 with type 2 diabetes (STEP 2 only), and atleast one self-reported unsuccessful effort to lose weight bydiet.
