The Guidelines on Building a Market-Oriented Green Technology Innovation System, which was released by China in 2019, has become a powerful signal to guide the development of green technology innovation (GTI). In the current digital strategy of China, the public media has become a key factor for promoting the transparency of enterprise environmental information. This paper measures the GTI efficiency of the listed paper enterprises in China as well as incorporating media attention into the research framework to explore the influencing factors of GTI of the listed paper enterprises in China during the digital economy era. The results showed that a positive media report had a positive impact on GTI and has become a new driving factor in promoting sustainable production in the digital era. Government support and openness also have a positive impact on GTI. However, negative media reports, environmental regulations, and technological innovation abilities have an inhibitory effect on the GTI efficiency of paper making enterprises. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper examines the digital economy's impact on rural household consumption upgrading. Existing studies remain mainly at the level of rural consumption scale and rarely address the consumption structure. The specific impact of the development of the digital economy on rural consumption upgrading and its mechanisms of action deserves in-depth study and consideration. We analyzed the related content using the fixed-effect model, the instrumental variable method (IV), the mediation effect model, and three-year panel data from the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS). This study found that, at the scale level, the digital economy contributes to expanding rural household consumption. At the structural level, the digital economy significantly increases the share of enjoyment-oriented household consumption but has no significant effect on development-oriented consumption. Income is an important transmission mechanism for the digital economy to improve rural household consumption. This paper explored the paradigm shift in spatial innovation dynamics driven by the rapid emergence of the digital economy (DIGE) through the lens of the regional innovation system (RIS). By integrating DIGE, RIS, and innovation output into a unified analytical framework, this study examined the impact and mechanisms of DIGE on innovation output across 330 Chinese cities from 2011 to 2020. Results show that DIGE development significantly contributes to innovation output. This contribution is mediated by DIGE's strengthening of the RIS, primarily through its facilitation of integration into innovation networks and enhancement of the innovation environment. Regional heterogeneities are evident in the innovation-promoting influence of DIGE, with less developed cities, cities with underdeveloped infrastructure, and smaller cities benefiting more significantly. While the direct impact of DIGE on large central cities is subtle, their pivotal positions enable them to radiate and disseminate innovation spillovers to connected cities through extensive cooperative networks. This study underscored the potential of leveraging DIGE, especially in disadvantaged regions, to cultivate robust and synergistic RIS and act as catalysts for augmented innovation output. In the context of the rapid development of the digital economy information technologies represented by cloud computing Internet of Things and digital twins are fully embedded in the garment industry. The garment industry is rapidly reorganizing the entire industrial chain from design to after-sales. At present China's garment industry as a laborintensive industry is facing the dilemma of gradually weakening cost advantages market contraction weak high-end product development and manufacturing capabilities. Accelerating the pace of technology integration and improving the innovation ability of garment enterprises to cope with the development dilemma has increasingly become the consensus of the industry and academia and even the focus of government decision-making. By combing the literature it is found that there is little literature on the evaluation of innovation ability of textile and garment enterprises and there are problems of strong subjectivity in the evaluation process and insufficient sample size. At the same time driven by digital technologies such as big data artificial intelligence and industrial Internet the innovation process of garment enterprises is gradually integrated and a new index system needs to be constructed to evaluate their innovation ability. To promote the technological progress and innovation development of clothing enterprises this paper took China's listed clothing companies as the research object analyzed the main factors affecting the innovation ability measured the level of innovation ability and evaluated the innovation ability. The research time interval is from 2016 to 2022. Through the analysis of the relevant literature in the field of textile and garment this paper chose the listed companies in the textile and garment industry. After excluding the enterprises with delisting risk undisclosed annual report and termination of listing during the sample period this paper selected 25 sample enterprises that have survived. In terms of evaluation methods global factor analysis has the advantage of objective results in dealing with multi-dimensional and multi-index index system which meets the needs of research. Therefore this paper introduced the dimension of digital level and constructed the evaluation index system of innovation ability of listed clothing companies which contains 15 indicators in five dimensions innovation input innovation output business performance environmental factors and digital level. Based on the panel data of 25 listed Chinese clothing companies from 2016 to 2022 the global factor analysis method was used to aggregate 15 quantitative indicators into five common factors. The weights of these common factors were determined according to the corresponding variance contribution rate and then the scores of each common factor were weighted and averaged to obtain the innovation ability score. After obtaining the score of enterprise innovation ability the average scores of common factors and comprehensive factors of sample enterprises were calculated to explore the overall level of innovation ability. Three major conclusions were drawn. First R&D investment and patent output enterprise growth business environment and digital talents regional scientific research environment and equipment digitization level positively affected the innovation ability of listed clothing companies. Among them R&D investment and patent output had the highest variance contribution rate of 20. 32% which was the key factor affecting innovation ability. Second during the sample period the average score of innovation ability continued to decrease from 0. 003 to - 0. 011 indicating that the overall innovation ability of listed clothing companies was still at the middle and lower levels. Third the average score of business environment and digital talent factor decreased from 0. 024 to 0. 020 in fluctuation while the average score of regional scientific research environment and equipment digitization level factor continued to rise from - 0. 002 to 0. 013 indicating that the overall level of digitization of sample enterprises was good. Finally this paper put forward four major suggestions. First the core enterprises of the supply chain need to enable the enterprises on the chain to share the dividends of digital applications and also shoulder the burden of promoting the whole chain of digital technology. Second enterprises with weak innovation ability should increase investment in innovation resources and actively carry out digital cooperative innovation. Third the government should introduce diversified support policies improve the level of patent application services in the garment industry and accelerate the construction of information technology infrastructure. Fourth it is necessary to rely on industry associations and professional societies to build a digital innovation exchange platform and share digital innovation achievements. This paper evaluates the innovation ability of listed clothing companies from five aspects innovation input innovation output business performance environmental factors and digital level. It is found that innovation ability is affected by R&D investment patent output enterprise growth business environment and digital talents regional scientific research environment and equipment digital level. Purpose: This conceptual paper aims to develop the vision of a novel policy tool called the digital industrial cluster (DIC) thought for a future context shaped by digital economies and Industry 4.0. The DIC departs from the industrial cluster's precepts and take them into the digital agglomeration phenomenon. Design/methodology/approach: This research uses a discursive and theoretical approach. To create a clear picture related to the research topic, this paper reviews the literature on how industrial clusters deal with digital transformation. The review takes a particular interest in industrial clusters, information and communication technologies, Industry 4.0 and policy tools for digital agglomeration. Findings: The research develops the vision of the DIC as a new policy tool, building its foundations on both industrial clusters and digital economies; furthermore, the DIC was compared with other policy tools based on digital agglomeration to understand the similarities, differences and advantages of the former. Finally, this paper discussed where the DIC could find its way toward implementation and what externalities could be expected from doing so. Practical implications: This research could be useful for policymakers and cluster organizations looking to deploy policy tools that take advantage of industrial clusters and digital transformation. Besides, the theoretical foundations presented could lead researchers to empirical identification of early incarnations of the DIC. The digital economy differs from a traditional economy because it relies on digital technology, online transactions, and its transformative effect on traditional industries Digital innovations such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality, Blockchain, and autonomous vehicles all play a part in creating a digital economy. For this study, various papers on "Digital Economy" and "Industry 4.0" are identified from Scopus, Google Scholar and other research platforms and further studied briefly. In recent years, the problem of global warming caused by the massive emission of carbon dioxide has attracted the attention of all countries in the world. As the world's largest carbon dioxide emitter. China is under great pressure to conserve energy and reduce emissions. How to effectively control carbon dioxide emissions has become one of the important issues that needs to be solved in China's economic and social development. The digital economy is characterized by technological innovation, environmental friendliness and green development providing new opportunities for carbon emission reduction. However, the existing literature has not reached a consensus on the study of the impact of China's digital economy development on carbon emissions, and the study of the internal mechanism of China's digital economy development on carbon emissions is not deep enough, and the study of the spatial spillover effect of China's digital economy development on carbon emissions is relatively few. Based on the extended Cobb-Douglas production function, this paper analyzes the impact of digital economy development on carbon emissions by using Chinese urban panel data. The results show that the development of the digital economy can significantly reduce the level of carbon emissions, and this result is still valid after a series of robustness tests. In terms of its mechanism, digital economy can reduce carbon emissions by strengthening environmental regulation, improving human capital level and promoting industrial agglomeration. After further considering the spatial correlation characteristics of the emission reduction effect of digital economy, it is found that the development of digital economy can not only promote carbon emission reduction in the region, but also help reduce carbon emissions in neighboring regions. Heterogeneity test shows that the development of digital economy significantly reduces carbon emissions in central cities and high-innovation cities, but the carbon emission reduction effect of digital economy in peripheral cities is not significant, and the development of digital economy in low- innovation cities significantly increases carbon emissions. The development of digital economy in eastern and central and western cities has significantly reduced carbon emissions, and the carbon emission reduction effect is decreasing from the central and western regions to the eastern regions. The possible marginal contributions of this paper are as follows: first, a theoretical model is built to analyze and empirically test the impact of digital economy on carbon emission by incorporating digital elements into Cobb-Douglas production function and introducing carbon emission equation, which deepens the understanding of the relationship between digital economy development and carbon emission. Second, three intermediary variables, i. e. industrial agglomeration, environmental regulation and human capital are included, which enriches the mechanism of the impact of digital economy development on carbon emissions from a new perspective based on multiple paths. A multidimensional index evaluation system is constructed to measure intermediary variables, which can reflect the characteristics of intermediary variables more completely and comprehensively than a single indicator measurement. Third, two spatial weight matrices of adjacency and inverse distance were constructed, and bidirectional fixed effect spatial Durbin model was adopted to test the spatial spillover effect of digital economy development on carbon emissions from a more subtle urban scale. Three intermediary variables of industrial agglomeration, environmental regulation and human capital were included in the model successively, and the spatial spillover effect of different intermediary variables on carbon emissions was investigated. It provides an empirical basis for the national planning of carbon emission reduction policies. The research in this paper deepens the understanding of the relationship between digital economy development and carbon emission to a certain extent, reveals the internal logic of China's digital economy development affecting carbon emission, clarifies the path and method of carbon emission reduction, and provides theoretical support for government departments to formulate more targeted policies on digital economy development and carbon emission reduction under the constraint of "dual carbon" goal. The object of research is the use of Digital Twin (DT) technology in the manufacturing sector and its impact on sustainability. The scientific problem addressed is the identification and quantification of the potential advantages and challenges associated with the adoption of DTs at operational, tactical, and strategic levels, particularly in the context of sustainable development. The paper investigates how DTs can redefine the measurement of sustainable development and diversify implementation within manufacturing infrastructure. The study concludes that DTs are a sophisticated technology that enables manufacturers to create precise virtual replicas of physical products or processes. This helps in optimizing resource utilization, reducing energy consumption, and minimizing waste, thereby promoting sustainability. Main DT clusters and common uses highlighted by the authors demonstrate huge impact on energy efficiency, waste management, sustainable design, logistics emissions reduction, water conservation, and stakeholder engagement. It is proved that DTs simulate and analyze complex systems, enabling the evaluation and improvement of sustainability levels. The paper presents promising practical examples of DT’s use, such as optimizing warehouse management in Ukraine, automating robots for increased efficiency, and aiding in the post-war reconstruction of cities with a focus on environmental friendliness and accessible infrastructure. China's digital economy exceeded 50 trillion yuan in 2022 accounting for 41. 5 percent of GDP. As the main focus of the development of the digital economy the digital transformation of enterprises is the in-depth integration of digital technology and production methods which contributes to reshaping an enterprise's business model and enhancing its innovation capability and has a positive impact on both enterprise value and enterprise performance. The textile and apparel industry as a traditional manufacturing industry in China is one of the important pillar industries of China's national economy. The digital economy can empower textile and apparel enterprises and gradually promote the digital transformation of enterprises which is of great significance to achieving the high-quality development of the textile and apparel industry and the sustainable development of enterprises. However at present the digital transformation of textile and apparel enterprises lacks theoretical and empirical guidance. The digital transformation path and the impact of digital transformation on enterprise value have not yet been clarified. Therefore based on the theoretical foundation of previous literature this paper takes textile and apparel enterprises as the research object and empirically studies the relationship between digital transformation and the enterprise value of textile and apparel enterprises. It aims to deeply analyze and explore the mechanism of the impact of the digital transformation of textile and apparel enterprises on enterprise value so as to provide ideas and suggestions for the digital transformation of textile and apparel enterprises and the improvement of enterprise value. Firstly this paper divided the digital transformation of textile and apparel enterprises into four dimensions based on TOE Technology-Organization-Environment theory including strategic leadership organizational empowerment technology driving and environmental support. By summarizing the previous literature the theoretical assumptions between the above dimensions and enterprise value were proposed. Secondly enterprise value was taken as an explanatory variable and Tobin's Q was selected to measure the level of enterprise value. The four dimensions of digital transformation of textile and apparel enterprises were taken as explanatory variables and the measurement indexes of the four dimensions were selected respectively. Moreover the entropy value method was used to assign weights to the measurement indicators to quantify the digital transformation of textile and apparel enterprises. Enterprise size asset-liability ratio and the ratio of cash to total assets were used as control variables. The theoretical model between the explained variables explanatory variables and control variables was constructed to test the impact of the digital transformation of textile and apparel enterprises on enterprise value. Thirdly the textile and apparel enterprises were screened from the A-share listed companies in Shanghai Exchanges and Shenzhen Exchanges and the annual data of the enterprises from 2017 to 2021 were selected as the initial sample. The initial samples were preprocessed and finally 61 textile and apparel enterprises were chosen containing annual panel data with a total of 305 observations from 2017 to 2021. The data were analyzed by standardization and descriptive statistics. According to the results of descriptive statistics it can be observed that part of the data has a wide range of polarity which indicates that there are obvious differences in the level of digital transformation of textile and apparel enterprises. In order to ensure the robustness of the subsequent analysis this article carried out logarithmic processing of the data. Finally Stata software was used to carry out the Hausman test on the model and the random effect model was used to carry out regression analysis and test the proposed theoretical assumptions. This study focuses on textile and apparel enterprises and divides the dimensions of digital transformation of textile and apparel enterprises enriches the research perspective of digital transformation of enterprises and empirically explores the impact of specific dimensions of digital transformation on enterprise value. The results of the study demonstrate that organizational empowerment technology driving and environmental support of textile and apparel companies have a significant positive impact on enterprise value. The effects on enterprise value in descending order are environmental support technology driving and organizational empowerment. Strategic leadership has no significant effect on enterprise value of textile and apparel enterprises. The above conclusions can provide theoretical guidance for the digital transformation of textile and apparel enterprises and provide targeted suggestions for accelerating the digital transformation of enterprises and increasing enterprise value. In future research the sample size can be further expanded. At the same time the digital transformation of textile and apparel enterprises in different regions of China can be compared and analyzed to understand the advantages and shortcomings of the development of textile and apparel enterprises in China. It is necessary to conduct a more profound and comprehensive discussion on the impact of digital transformation of textile and apparel enterprises on enterprise value by combining with questionnaire research and other methods. With the rapid development of the digital economy, it plays an important role in promoting the integration and development of rural primary, secondary, and tertiary industries, and assisting rural revitalization. The existing problems of digital economy promoting the integration of rural industries were analyzed:firstly, the integration of rural industries is low and lacks external support;the second is the backwardness of rural infrastructure, which restricts large-scale development;the third is the lack of a sound structural mechanism, which affects the enthusiasm of the subject to participate;the fourth is the insufficient application of the digital economy, and the integration of subjects is not tight;the fifth reason is that rural industries are underdeveloped and there are significant regional differences in e-commerce. Based on the panel data of 12 prefecture-level cities in Hubei Province from 2010 to 2020, this paper examines the direct impact and spatial spillover impact of digital economy on the urban-rural integration development of Hubei Province through dual fixed-effect model and spatial econometric model respectively. The intermediary effect model is used to explore the mediating role of factor circulation, optimal allocation, employment drive, consumption increase and structural upgrade in the process of digital economy affecting urban-rural integration and development. Finally, countermeasures and suggestions are put forward. The empirical results show that: Digital economy not only has a direct impact on rural-urban integration in this region, but also has a spillover effect on other regions. Most publications justify that digitalization is a source of economic growth, to a greater extent in the countries with higher levels of economic development. However, some papers fail to find empirical evidence supporting this claim, attributing it to digitalization being in its initial stages or to the presence of the digitalization paradox. Economic literature exhibits a degree of ambiguity in its conclusions regarding the role of the digital economy in growth. Researchers employ different measures of digitalization, country and year samples, control variables in regression equation, as well as different regression methods, which can provoke ambiguous effects on the parameters of digital variables. The purpose of the article is to identify the role of digitalization in economic growth by justifying an economic growth model with the digitalization index and providing detailed discussions on our sample of countries over recent years, along with options for regression estimators. The article utilizes statistical data from the World Bank, European Commission, and Heritage Foundation. Methods such as system analysis, statistical analysis, and the regression estimator of panel data with fixed effects are implemented to identify the role of digitalization in economic growth. We have designed an economic growth model incorporating the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) of EU member states for the years 2017-2022, utilizing available data. The results reveal a positive and significant causal effect of digitization on gross output growth. Specifically, a 1% increase in the digitalization index results in GDP growth of almost 0.2%. Moreover, we observe the important roles of capital, labor, trade, human capital, and intellectual property rights in driving growth, consistent with the theory of endogenous growth. Proving the importance of digitalization for economic growth can be an argument for policies aimed at promoting digitalization. We suggest further research on the role of digitalization at a more disaggregated level of industries. However, our study does not demonstrate a statistically significant effect of research activity and institutional quality on gross output. The digital economy plays an important role in promoting the high quality and sustainable development of the marine fishery economy. Based on the panel data of the digital economy and marine fishery development from 2011 to 2022, we firstly adopted the entropy method to comprehensively evaluate the economy quality level of the digital economy and marine fishing. Secondly, we constructed a two-way fixed effect model to empirically analyze the impact of digital economy development on the marine fishery economy quality and the mediating role of marine green science and technology innovation, and further explored the regional heterogeneity of the digital economy on the marine fishery economy quality. Several findings emerge. The digital economy and the marine fishery economy quality level was relatively low and showed a fluctuating increase. The development of the digital economy can significantly improve the economy quality of marine fishing, and the conclusion was still valid after considering a series of robustness tests. The digital economy can drive the development quality of the marine fishery economy through marine green technology innovation. This paper proposes fostering the advancement of digital technology in the marine fishery sector, to effectively harness the innovation-driven potential of the digital economy, so as to facilitate the harmonious development of both the marine and digital economies. Taking the development of digital economy as the starting point, combined with the realistic background of the integration of urban and rural areas in China, and using the method of spatial econometrics this paper analyzes the spatio-temporal evolution characteristics of digital economy and urban-rural integration in China, and explores their action mechanism and spatial effect. The main conclusions are as follows:①The integrated development of urban and rural areas and the development of digital economy in China show a slow and steady growth trend, but the overall level is low, the regional development is unbalanced, and the characteristics of spatial differentiation are more obvious. ②The total spatial effect of digital economy on the integration of urban and rural areas is significantly positive. That is, the rapid development of digital economy promotes the integration of urban and rural areas, and further strengthens the free flow of elements between urban and rural areas. At the same time, digital technology also provides conditions for the comprehensive integration of urban and rural areas. ③The impact of digital economy on urban-rural integration is heterogeneous, especially in the central and western regions and areas with a high degree of integration. ④The level of digital infrastructure, the development level of digital industrialization and the degree of application of industrial digitization are important factors that affect the development of urban-rural integration. The coupling coordination of digital economy and green high-quality development of industries is an important way for sustainable and high-quality economic development. This paper constructs an evaluation index system for the digital economy and industrial green high-quality development, and conducts empirical analysis using the coupling coordination model, the spatial autocorrelation model, and the Tobit model. The data from provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt spanning from 2008 to 2021 has been analyzed. Results show that both subsystems exhibit a good and rising coupling coordination, and the regional coupling coordination demonstrates a trend of higher values in the east and lower in the west. Moreover, there is interaction between provinces and cities, albeit with a weakening correlation after 2011. Additionally, spatial clustering is evident between regions with high and low coupling coordination. The coupling coordination degree of each region is impacted by important factors, such as economic development level, financial level, opening up, fiscal expenditure, and urbanization. Therefore, the study recommends policies aimed at boosting the coupling coordination level in the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Key policy proposals contain promoting the integration and innovation of digital technology and green low-carbon technology, strengthening regional cooperation through the transfer of industries, and adopting differentiated development strategies tailored to regional advantages and the varied impact. To build a new development pattern with the domestic cycle as the main body and the international and domestic dual cycles reinforcing each other, it is necessary to take the expansion of domestic demand as a strategic basis, and the expansion of household consumption is an important part of it. By realizing people-centered urbanization, the new urbanization construction has promoted the release of residents' consumption potential from both supply and demand aspects, and provided a driving force for China's economy to effectively expand domestic demand. However, there is a lack of empirical analysis of the relationship between new urbanization and residents' consumption potential at the macro level. Based on the panel data of 280 cities in China from 2007 to 2019, this paper empirically studies the impact of new urbanization construction on the release of residents' consumption potential on the basis of measuring the level of new urbanization construction and residents' consumption potential, and analyzes its mechanism from the supply and demand sides of the consumer market. The study finds that the new urbanization construction can realize the expansion and upgrading of the consumer market on the supply side, promote the increase of residents' income and the improvement of consumption security on the demand side, and then fully release the consumption potential of residents. This result still holds after a series of robust tests and treatment of endogeneity problems. Further analysis shows that the new urbanization construction has a stronger effect on the release of residents' consumption potential in the eastern and northeast regions, and at the same time, the degree of industrial agglomeration and the level of digital economy development also have a positive moderating effect on the release of urban residents' consumption potential. The results of nonlinear analysis show that the release effect of new urbanization on the consumption potential of urban residents is gradually amplified, and with the improvement of the level of new urbanization, its release effect on the consumption potential of residents also gradually increases. Compared with previous studies, the marginal contribution of this paper is mainly reflected in the following three aspects: firstly, from the perspective of research, the logical framework of new urbanization construction to release residents' consumption potential is constructed from the supply and demand sides of the consumer market, and the urbanization construction is linked to consumption growth, and how to rely on urbanization to release the strategic potential of residents' huge consumption. Secondly, in terms of measurement methods, the index system of new urbanization construction level is constructed from five aspects: population urbanization, economic urbanization, social urbanization, resource spatial intensification, and urban-rural integration, besides, the level of new urbanization construction is measured, and the consumption potential index system of residents, consumption willingness and consumption environment is designed from the three dimensions of consumption capacity, then the consumption potential of residents is measured, This method is more direct and specific than that of DID, which uses a simple 0-1 variables. Thirdly, in terms of data use, a number of medium and micro databases such as the city panel database, the industrial enterprise database, and the macroeconomic and real estate database of the State Information Center are used, and the data is more abundant and reasonable. In recent years, a large number of new digital information technologies have appeared in the world. The role of the digital economy as a “stabilizer” and “accelerator” for the development of the real economy has become increasingly prominent. Digital transformation has become a key force in reshaping the global resource structure and changing the world economic pattern. Especially in the current era, the international political, economic and scientific and technological landscape is constantly changing. How to grasp the new situation, strengthen technology leadership, improve digital governance and establish new development advantages have become a severe test for each economic entity. However, the relationship between business uncertainty and digitization is still inconclusive. The unpredictability of the environment has led enterprises to rely more on digitization. Enterprises are eager to carry out comprehensive digital construction at the fastest speed to improve their competitive position. Companies are trying to be a dark horse in the face of environmental shocks. However, in practice, it is found that the situation, ecological environment, capital, technology and other constraints lead to the inability of enterprises in the digital construction. Therefore, the study of how the uncertainty of the business environment affects the digital transformation of enterprises has become the focus of this paper. Specifically, through the analysis of resource-based theory, agency theory, real option theory, strategic alignment theory and existing research results, the main hypothesis and alternative hypothesis of the paper are proposed. The empirical part uses the data of China's A-share listed companies from 2004 to 2021 to test the impact of business environment uncertainty on enterprises' digital transformation. The results show that uncertainty in the business environment will inhibit enterprises' digital transformation. However, this inhibitory effect will weaken as the uncertainty of the business environment increases. The influence of business environment uncertainty on digital input and results conforms to the U-shaped relationship, but it only inhibits the efficiency of digital output. Uncertainty in the business environment inhibits digital transformation through financing constraints, technical talent drain, and management myopia. Accordingly, this inhibition can be alleviated by promoting market-oriented development, promoting the construction of digital organizations and increasing the proportion of management ownership. The inhibiting effect of business environment uncertainty on enterprises' digital transformation is more significant in enterprises with overseas management background, non-IT management background and higher average age of management. Moreover, this dampening effect ultimately leads to a decline in aggregate productivity and firm value. Compared with previous literatures, the conclusions enrich the research on the impact of business environment on enterprises' digital transformation. The internal logic and economic consequences of business environment uncertainty inhibiting enterprises' digital transformation are deeply discussed. The corresponding mitigation mechanism is studied according to different influence channels. The heterogeneity is analyzed based on the characteristics of management structure. The relationship between business environment uncertainty and enterprise digital transformation is analyzed comprehensively. As we stand on the cusp of what Schwab claims to be the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), the world of work is undergoing a rapid and profound transformation. Zimbabwe strives to ready its labour market for the seismic changes already underway. In order to thrive in the future of work, the World Economic Forum advises that a country must educate its populace in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Unfortunately, Zimbabwean women remain underrepresented in STEM professions, with a mere 28.79 percent of women holding STEM degrees, compared to 71.21 percent of men. These statistics underscore the urgent need to educate more women in STEM fields. This paper addresses the bigger question: "Is Zimbabwe ready for the future of work"? To this end, this paper offers a nuanced analysis of the 4IR and its implications for Zimbabwe's future of work. Drawing on primary and secondary literature, we map out women's barriers and propose strategies to overcome them. This paper uses an integrative literature review, making a valuable novel contribution to the burgeoning literature on the intersection of the 4IR, gender equality and the future of work in Zimbabwe. The paper showcases that Zimbabwe is unprepared for the changing nature of work and needs to increase women's participation in STEM subjects. The relationship between digital economy and signal information on firms‘ markup has been overlooked and not well explained, especially in the emerging economies. When there is information asymmetry or too much information, the export decisions of firms are not completed independently, but the result of the comprehensive trade-off of the export signals issued by the 'neighbors'. This paper discusses the impact of the development of digital economy on the markup of export firms by distinguishing two perspectives of export signal, namely herd behavior and peer effect. We find that the digital economy has a positive impact on firm markup. There is substitution effect in digital economy and export signals, and digital economy acts price bonus by influencing export signals. The growing popularity of market signals could offset some of the advantages of the digital economy on export markup for companies. In addition, our paper finds that foreign-owned firms, large-scale firms, highly competitive industries and non-digital economy industries adjust their markups more significantly when they were affected by export signals. Based on the panel data of 13 prefectures in Jiangsu Province from 2000 to 2021, this paper uses the entropy weight method to measure the level of high-quality agricultural development and digital economy development in each prefecture, and uses regression methods to analyse the impact of digital economy on high-quality agricultural development in Jiangsu and its characteristics. The results indicate that the digital economy has a significant positive impact on the high-quality agricultural development in Jiangsu. On average, an increase of 1 unit in the development level of digital economy will lead to an increase of 0.2-0.4 units in the high-quality development level of agriculture. The impact of digital economy on high-quality agricultural development is greater when the level of high-quality agricultural development is lower. Digital economy plays a greater role in promoting high-quality agricultural development in prefectures with lower economic development level, higher proportion of agricultural added value or lower level of digital economy development. With the swift advancement of the global digital economy, data has emerged as a critical component in fostering the integration of large enterprises with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Nevertheless, due to disparities in resources and capabilities between these entities, there is a deficiency in the willingness to share data, hindering the full actualization of data’s potential value. Hence, it is imperative to facilitate a novel cooperative development paradigm wherein platforms enable data sharing among large enterprises and SMEs. In this paper, we construct a tripartite evolutionary game model encompassing large enterprises, SMEs, and digital platforms, examine the evolutionary stable strategies adopted by these entities in the data sharing, and use numerical simulation to explore the system’s evolutionary stability under various influencing factors. Contrasting with prior research, this study considers the heterogeneity of enterprise scale and delves into the data sharing dynamics between large enterprises and SMEs. Simultaneously, it positions the digital platform as a player in the game, examining its impact on data sharing among the enterprises. Findings indicate that: (1) SMEs exhibit greater eagerness for data sharing compared to large enterprises, which display a U-shaped influence during the process; (2) Digital platforms are particularly sensitive to costs, with the platform’s initiative and the service quality will affect enterprises strategic choices; (3) Government subsidies positively encourage tripartite cooperation, and robust data security governance framework is crucial for enterprises. Finally, based on the results of the study and combining with the current situation of digital economy development, it puts forward the suggestions for promoting platforms to empower large enterprises and SMEs to realize data sharing and the prospects for future research. This paper explores the impact of digital economy, population, affluence, technology, and other factors on carbon emissions, with panel data for 13 cities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration from 2011-2019. To overcome the negative influences of multicollinearity among independent variables under acceptable bias, we extended the traditional STIRPAT model and adopted the Partial Least Squares Regression (PLSR) algorithm. Results show that the digital economy has a directly dampening effect on carbon emissions, and the effect will diminish as the digital economy develops. Besides, under different development levels, differences are significant in terms of the impact of population, affluence, technology, urbanization rate and industrial structure on carbon emissions. Academically, we applied the PLSR method to the study of the relationship between digital economy and carbon emissions for the first time, which enhanced the credibility of the research conclusions. In addition, analysis based on samples from China's Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration also provides more empirical evidence for related research. Practically, we recommend such policies as developing digital cities, promoting low-carbon concepts, and accelerating industrial transformation for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to achieve the "dual-carbon" goals and high-quality economic development. In the context of the rapid development of the digital economy, it's an important topic how to play the role of digital technology in improving innovation efficiency. Employing the spatial econometric model with province-level panel data during 2006–2018, the article explores the impact of the development of the digital economy on innovation efficiency in China. The analysis unveils three major findings. First, the innovation efficiency has significant positive spatial externalities and the digital economy has significantly positive direct effects and spatial spillover effects on innovation efficiency, but the above effects are heterogeneous for different regions and innovation subjects. Second, the impact of digital economy development on innovation efficiency has characteristics of a certain degree of lag effect and continuity. Third, the threshold effect analysis reveals the non-linear characteristic of the increasing marginal effect of the digital economy on innovation efficiency. Altogether, the development of the digital economy has become an important driving force for promoting China's innovation efficiency. As the most active field in China's economic development, the digital economy is crucial to the high-quality development of enterprises. Taking Chinese-listed agricultural enterprises as research samples, this paper discusses the effect of the digital economy on promoting the high-quality development of agricultural enterprises and the mechanism behind it from the perspective of total factor productivity of enterprises. The study found that the digital economy significantly promoted the improvement of total factor productivity of agricultural enterprises and enabled the high-quality development of agricultural enterprises, and this conclusion remained valid after controlling for endogeneity and conducting robustness tests. The inexorable march of technological advancement, particularly within the digital domain, continues to exert a profound influence on global economies, societies, and governance frameworks. This paper delves into the intricate coordination between digital business and digital governance against the backdrop of sustainable development. By introducing an index system to gauge the levels of digital business and governance, this study assesses their coupling coordination using a coupling coordination model. Through this level of coordination, this paper assesses their respective contributions to the sustainable development objectives of EU countries through panel-corrected standard error (PCSE) estimates. The paper's findings underscore several key conclusions: (1) Notable upswings are evident in the composite indices for digital business and digital governance growth. Among these, the index of digital business has demonstrated the most pronounced surge. Furthermore, digital business has experienced a distinct upward trajectory in recent years. (2) Although observable, the rise of the coupling degree is restrained, with an overall coupling degree that remains relatively low. The digital economy's strong permeability and ubiquitous characteristics enable it to continuously penetrate all aspects of human society's production, life, and urban governance. As an essential regional network node and a large-scale economy and population carrier, cities constantly evolve in economic, social, and spatial structure. Based on the review of the research and development of the digital economy by scholars, government, media, and industry, this paper reveals the status quo that the theoretical research of the digital economy lags behind the application practice. The article also proposes an understanding of the digital economy from three levels (i. e., micro, meso, macro) and four aspects based on information technology. Based on the review of past research on information technology with urban space, the two topics of whether the digital economy reduces "face-to-face" and leads to the "death of distance" are further dis‐ cussed. Furthermore, the article studies the digital economy and urban space network development following accessibility network with urban space, the digital economy industry with urban space, the digital economy with the urban network. It then proposes two challenges of governance security and network fairness in the digital economy era. The paper finds that: (1) The process of digital economy exerting on urban space also follows the agglomeration and development laws of population and industry, and there is no evidence that it will definitely lead to the reduction of "face-to-face" and the "death of distance". The digital economy is developing rapidly worldwide, which is of great strategic significance in leading and driving the process of high-quality and high-efficiency development of the economy. In this context, according to the connotation of digital economy, comprehensively consider the four dimensions of digital foundation, digital application, digital innovation and digital benefit, and build a full-scale digital economy indicator system. However, some previous literature proposed operating the K-means clustering algorithm in optimizing the index system. The algorithm, susceptible to the initial selection of cluster center, generates completely different clustering results with other random seed points and is thus unsuitable for optimizing the index system. Based on this, the advantages of GRA, SA, and K-means algorithms are combined to propose a K-means-SA algorithm that can obtain the global optimal solution. Then, by combining the K-means SA algorithm and the rough set algorithm, the constructed index system is further optimized. Data is a very important resource in digital economy and is also an important factor of production that stimulates China's economic development. In China, public data is the largest and most widely covered data type. Therefore, public data has enormous potential commercial and social value, and further development and utilization are urgently needed. At present, public data openness in China develops rapidly, but there are still many problems. Based on the existing literature, this paper summarizes the problems of public data opening in China into three aspects: insufficient platform coverage, poor data availability and regional differences. Based on the dialectical development perspective and the current practical situation, this paper points out that the enthusiasm of local governments plays a key role in the development of public data openness, and the lack of enthusiasm of local governments can comprehensively explain the problems of public data openness in China. Therefore, the lack of enthusiasm from local governments is the main factor hindering public data openness in China. On this basis, this paper points out that establishing a paid-use system of public data can effectively stimulate the enthusiasm of local governments, and this paper responds to the debate on establishing a paid-use system of public data. On the one hand, the paid use system of public data can bring benefits to local governments, allowing them to participate in the distribution of data source benefits, thereby enhancing their enthusiasm. By charging fee, local governments can get benefits when firms or agents use public data even when firms or agents are in other provinces. On the other hand, when local governments get benefits from public data openness, and they would promote the healthy and sustainable development of public data openness. The higher quality and more data attract more firms and agents using them, and bring more benefit to local government. However, establishing a paid use system of public data faces four controversies. Firstly, does the government have the right to charge fees? Secondly, is public data openness a public product? Thirdly, will paid-use system reduce economic efficiency? Fourthly, will paid use system lead to excessive reliance on data transfer fees by local finance? This paper responds to all controversies in the above. Finally, this paper proposes four policy recommendations based on the goal of promoting the enthusiasm of local governments and promoting the sustainable development of public data openness. In the era of digital economy, the optimization of enterprise supply chain networks has become a key challenge, while the problems of traditional supply chains, including information asymmetry and lack of trust, seriously hinder the development of enterprise supply chain networks. This paper will use the blockchain distributed technology and the digital economy background to explore how to use the blockchain distributed technology to optimize the existing problems. Firstly, study the supply chain information sharing to develop resources to reduce costs, then use the application of block chain technology and smart contract to establish information sharing mechanism to help the supply chain information more transparent and improve trust; secondly, use the block chain technology decentralized storage model to realize the decentralized supply chain research, and finally use the consensus method to improve the privacy protection of information, to avoid information asymmetry among users. Through experiments, it could be found that the optimization method of enterprise supply chain network based on blockchain distributed technology had a traceability accuracy of over 92.35% for the extracted products, with an average traceability accuracy of 93.791% for 10 products. Research on the transparency of different supply chain information was above 89.73% . By utilizing blockchain distributed technology, information protection in enterprise supply chains could be effectively improved; trust mechanisms could be better established; risk control effectiveness could be improved; optimization of enterprise supply chain networks could be better assisted. This paper examines the coupling coordination degree between digital economy and green technology innovation in 19 urban agglomerations across China from 2011 to 2020. Through the analysis of the coupling coordination degree model, spatial autocorrelation, multi-distance spatial clustering analysis, kernel density analysis and grey correlation model, this study uncovers the mechanism of coupling between digital economy and green technology in Chinese urban agglomerations. Data analysis revealed a significant increase in the coupling coordination between the digital economy and green technology innovation within urban agglomerations. However, there are noticeable spatial imbalances in this trend. Additionally, the multi-distance spatial distance analysis highlights a shift from a random distribution to a clustered distribution of spatial characteristics. The polarization features vary among each urban agglomeration and exhibit a significant positive spatial correlation. Factors such as economic sustainability, creative talent, policy support, digital impetus, and technological support will affect the coupling mechanism of green technology innovation and the digital economy in China's urban agglomerations. Policy recommendations are proposed to foster the development of the digital economy, promote coordinated growth within and beyond urban clusters, and ultimately build a digital ecological civilization that is both green and intelligent. Digital economy is a great route to promote the efficient utilization of natural resources and promote sustainability due to its high-tech, rapid growth, extensive penetration, deep integration and other characteristics. Existing study on the influencing factors of the digital economy is not deep enough and lacks the analysis on the relationship structure of factors influencing the digital economy, which is not conducive for an overall grasp of the digital economy. To correctly understand how to better develop the digital economy, this paper studies its influencing factors and the relationships between them. Based on the time-series data of China from 2002 to 2018, grey correlation analysis was applied to calculate the correlation between these influencing factors and the digital economy, and determine the major influencing factors of digital economy development in China. The Granger causality test and a review of existing research were used to judge the interrelationship of various factors. The interpretative structure model was utilized to determine the relationship structure of the main factors affecting the development of China's digital economy. The results show that the number of digital talents, state of the technology market, and degree of digitalization are direct influencing factors of the digital economy. Relying on the digital economy may help reconcile contradictions between the need to improve quality of life (QoL) and the need to reduce carbon emissions. Yet, previous research has not systematically explored the correlation between the digital economy, QoL, and carbon emissions. This paper explores the influence of the digital economy and of changes in QoL on carbon emissions, using a system Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) model. To do this we first use principal component analysis to calculate an objective QoL and a digital economy index using provincial panel data in China from 2006 to 2018. The results demonstrate that both the digital economy and QoL exhibit inverted U-shaped effects on carbon emissions. Our results also show that the growth of the digital economy improves QoL while mitigating the influence of QoL on carbon emissions. Thus, these findings illustrate that policymakers can rely upon the digital economy to help reconcile potential conflicts that arise between QoL and carbon emission reduction goals. Overall, these findings add a new dimension to carbon reduction policies. We propose that policymakers can improve QoL and reduce carbon emissions by coordinating the scale and efficiency-enhancing effects of developing the digital economy. In addition, regions that rely on energy industries should consider the efficiency-enhancing effect of the digital economy when formulating provincial and national emission reduction policies. China aims to improve the QoL of its citizens while achieving carbon peak and neutrality goals in the coming decades. This study demonstrates how the digital economy can both improve QoL and reduce carbon emissions. Given the non-linear impact of QoL on carbon emissions, policymakers should not be concerned that climate mitigation policies will deter or damage efforts to generate to QoL improvements. Countries should develop digital economies to improve QoL while simultaneously paying attention to its efficiency improvement effect, which can reduce carbon emissions. AbstractThis paper assesses tax competition in China across provinces as well as time-space and examines the direct and spatial effects of economic growth on tax competition using data from 31 provinces in China from 2011-2020. Additionally, digital development and fiscal governance are measured using the TOPSIS model based on the EWM and text analysis methods, and the moderating effect of two between economic growth and tax competition is evaluated. The results suggest a general phenomenon of tax competition among provinces in China, which is a “race to the bottom” and a significant spatial spillover effect. In fact, economic growth at the provincial level has significantly weakened tax competition, and there is a potential weakening of tax competition in neighbouring provinces. While the digital economy and fiscal governance at the provincial level are relatively low in China, both reinforce the weakening effects of economic growth on tax competition. This article explains the recent rise to prominence of Barcelona's digital economy, and, specifically, the role played by the city's "talent". After developing a Marxian approach, we show how Barcelona's success rests upon a good supply of low‐cost, appropriately skilled labour fit for insertion into labour processes that can generally not be described as innovative or of high‐knowledge, high‐skill intensity. There is, in fact, a dearth of highly skilled labour‐power in the city, and inflows of foreign labour and outflows of freshly trained "talent" from the city's bootcamps are only swelling the ranks of a lower‐paid, moderately skilled knowledge workforce—many of whom work in low‐quality jobs. Finally, we show how leading startups in the digital economy are contributing to the expansion of "non‐standard" forms of precarious work. We conclude by highlighting the limits to the development and realisation of human productive subjectivity or talent under capital today, even in a widely hyped technopole such as Barcelona. To estimate changes in assets value is a crucial task of asset management and accountancy. The calculation of changes in the value of data assets is an urgent question in the current process of including data assets on the financial statements. Differing from traditional assets, data assets exhibit distinctive patterns in value fluctuation. To address this, it is essential to understand the factors contributing to the appreciation or impairment of data assets. This paper starts with the difference between data assets and traditional assets, analyzing different factors causing impairment or appreciation for assets value. Four factors of asset impairment were concluded, including the data timeliness factor, usage timeliness factor, management cost factor, and authorization deadline factor. Additionally, three factors of asset appreciation were analyzed, comprising the data integrity improvement factor, data usage discovery factor, and the factor of cost reduction caused by technology improvement. In order to clarify the current situation of digital economy and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, explore the coupling coordination and interaction between these two aspects and provide a reference for implementing ecological protection and high-quality development strategies in the Yellow River Basin, the interactive mechanism between digital economy and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin was analyzed theoretically. Based on the panel data 2011 to 2020, a total of 64 prefecture-level cities in the Yellow River Basin were selected. This paper measured the development level of the digital economy and high-quality development level, empirically examined the coupling coordination relationship between these two dimensions by using coupling coordination degree model and explored the interactive relationship between the two through a PVAR model. The results of the study show that a) the development level of the digital economy in the Yellow River Basin has shown improvement during the research period, however, it remains generally lower with significant regional differences, which forms a circle distribution pattern with Jinan, Zhengzhou, Xi’an, Taiyuan and Hohhot as the core cities, and has the spatial distribution characteristics of high in the east and low in the west. b) The imbalance of high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin is prominent, characterized by the polarization and a distinct circle structure. This has resulted in the formation of a high-value area with Jinan, Zhengzhou, Taiyuan, Xi’an, Lanzhou and other provincial capitals as the core cities. c) The coupling coordination degree between the digital economy and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin has been increasing annually, but the overall coordination level remains insufficient. The current implementation only achieves the transition from the mild imbalance to near imbalance levels, and the coordination degree also illustrates a pattern of lower reaches＞middle reaches＞upper reaches. d) Both the digital economy and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin are characterized by self-reliance. High-quality development plays a significant role in promoting the digital economy, while the role of the digital economy in enhancing high-quality development needs to be reinforced. To study the impact of the digital economy on industrial structure upgrading, this paper constructs the dynamic spatial Durbin model, dynamic spatial intermediary model, and spatial threshold model based on the panel data of 155 prefecturelevel cities in China from 2011 to 2021. It is found that: (a) the improvement of the digital economy in the region can directly promote the upgrading of local industrial structure, but there is a significant "siphon effect," which makes the spatial spillover effect negative and significant. (b) The digital transformation of enterprises plays a mediating role in the path of digital economy-driven industrial structure upgrading, with a short-term mediating effect size of about 17.18%. In recent years, the rapid rise of the e-commerce industry has promoted the rapid development of ecommerce villages. Dayuan Village, which is located on the urban-rural fringe of Guangzhou, has developed into one of the largest and most influential e-commerce villages in China. Studying the mechanism of the formation, development, and transformation of Dayuan Village's e-commerce industry is necessary to explore the evolution mechanism of the digital industry, especially in the urban-rural fringe. Based on the theoretical perspective of "Actor-network Theory", the paper analyzes the network evolution and dissidence elimination process gradually by using in-depth interviews and participant observation to analyze this evolving process. The results show that the development of Dayuan e-commerce village has experienced three evolutionary stages: e-commerce agglomeration, e-commerce industry regularization, and e-commerce upgrading. The different OPPs in the three stages are anchored by traditional e-commerce, local government, and emerging e-commerce. With the formation of key actors, other heterogeneous actors, such as land, housing, express delivery, logistics, and emerging ecommerce platforms were enrolled based on the consensus of goals. Dayuan Village developed from a traditional urban village to a traditional e-commerce village and then transformed into a new e-commerce village, a process that reflects the simultaneous upgrading of local-network mobilization and global-network attachment in village development, increasing the resilience of the village's development. With the joint efforts of heterogeneous actors, the talent pool of Dayuan E-Commerce Village has grown from lack to abundance, social communication from isolation to integration, and business management from deficiency to enhancement. In addition, this study also emphasized, innovatively, the upgrading mechanism in the transformation process of the e-commerce village through the "local-global" framework in the Actor-Network Theory. New short video and live streaming platforms that are enrolled in the network not only further mobilize the activation of local actor networks but also further connect the village and its various assets to the external network and then participate in the global network. Thus, the transition from a traditional e-commerce village to an emerging one is a comprehensive upgrading process for both global and local networks. By analyzing the evolution of the actor network of Dayuan Village from a traditional e-commerce village to an emerging e-commerce village, this paper fills a gap in the study of the upgrading process of e-commerce villages to some extent and firstly uses the "global-local" framework in the actor network to analyze this upgrading process. The case of the development and transformation of the Dayuan e-commerce village illustrates the importance of different key actors for local development in different stages. Market forces and entrepreneurs play an important role in the formative stages of e-commerce villages, whereas the government and associations can regulate and mediate them in the later stages of explosive and rough growth to make e-commerce villages more sustainable. Therefore, the identification of development stages, stage OPPs, and key actors at different stages in the local planning and development process can help in completely exploiting the agency of different actors at different stages. This paper evaluates the effect of income tax preferences for digital economy enterprises based on the data of digital economy enterprises in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei regions from 2017-2021 (in line with the narrower caliber of the National Bureau of Statistics). The research results show that corporate income tax incentives have a significant impact on R&D investment of digital economy enterprises and provide a better incentive for digital economy enterprises to increase their R&D investment efforts. Tax incentives are heterogeneous in nature of property rights for digital economy enterprises, among which there is a greater promotion for private enterprises. Finally, this paper further expands the study on the factors influencing the innovative capability of enterprises and proposes policy recommendations on the relationship between tax preferences and innovation capability of enterprises based on the empirical results. Although the digital economy has emerged as a new impetus for countries to improve green innovation efficiency (GIE), existing research has thus far overlooked the direct relationship between them. Based on data from 30 provinces in China from 2011–2020, this paper investigates the impact of the digital economy on GIE by applying the spatial Durbin model, the mediation effect model, and the threshold effect model. The findings suggest that the digital economy can significantly enhance GIE directly and indirectly by promoting financial development, accumulating human capital, and optimizing industrial structure. Further research shows that non-linear characteristics exist between them at different levels of financial development, human capital, and industrial structure. Moreover, the eastern region experiences a more visible impact of the digital economy on provincial GIE. At present, China is entering the era of digital economy. At the same time, “carbon peak” and “carbon neutral” are the main challenges. There is an urgent need to explore the role of the digital economy in reducing carbon emissions and environmental governance. In view of this, using the provincial panel data from 2011 to 2020, this paper makes an empirical study on the mechanism of the digital economy in environmental governance. It is found that with the growth of the digital economy, regional carbon emissions have decreased and the level of environmental governance has improved. After passing several kinds of robustness tests, this conclusion is still valid. The impact of the digital economy on environmental governance is heterogeneous. And the effect is even more obvious in the East. In addition, the transmission mechanism of strengthening environmental governance in the digital economy obviously benefits from the upgrading of industrial structure, the efficiency of capital allocation and labor allocation. Finally, according to the analysis and discussion of the results, some policy suggestions for developing countries to actively develop the digital economy and strengthen the effectiveness of environmental governance are put forward. The goal of this paper is to investigate the coupling coordination relationship between the digital economy and the green economy, as well as to analyze possible ways to improve the coupling coordination degree. By using panel data for 280 cities from 2011 to 2018, this study has made outstanding contributions in the following areas: (1) reintegrating and constructing the evaluation index system of the digital economy and green economy; (2) utilizing the modified coupled coordination degree model to analyze it; (3) adopting the fixed effect model to test the influencing factors. The findings revealed that the current level of coupling coordination between the digital economy and the green economy in China is generally low, with significant regional differences. In terms of influencing factors, industrial structure upgrading has a U-shaped influence on coupling coordination, and government attention has an inverted U-shaped influence on coupling coordination. In order to provide a basis for the policy design of digital economy enabling the building of modern industrial system in the Yellow River Basin, this paper empirically tested the impact mechanism and effect of digital economy on the building of modern industrial system in the Yellow River Basin by taking 57 prefecture-level cities in the Yellow River Basin as sample units, using the panel data from 2011 to 2019 and adopting a two-way fixed effect model of space and time. The results show that the digital economy has a significant promoting effect on the building of modern industrial system in the Yellow River Basin, and technological innovation and human capital are important intermediary transmission factors. The development of digital economy can effectively promote the building of modern industrial systems in the lower reaches of the Yellow River Basin, but its impact on the upper and middle reaches is not significant. The digital economy has a significant positive impact on the building of modern industrial systems in second-tier cities, third-tier cities and fourth-tier cities in the Yellow River Basin, but its impact on first-tier cities and fifth-tier cities is not significant. The promotion effect of digital economy on the building of modern industrial system in the Yellow River Basin has a threshold effect. When the development level of digital economy is higher than the threshold value, its promotion effect on the building of modern industrial system in the Yellow River Basin is significantly enhanced. In this paper, we introduce a Cournot duopoly game that can characterize fierce competition in digital economies and employ it to examine the effects of research and development (R&D) spillovers while considering various competition intensities. We obtain the analytical solution of the Nash equilibrium and the expression of commodity price, firm production, and variable profit under some key competition intensities. Furthermore, we analyze the local stability of the Nash equilibrium and derive that the equilibrium may lose its stability only through a 1:4 resonance bifurcation. Numerical simulations are conducted, through which we find that the Nash equilibrium transitions to complex dynamics through a cascade of period-doubling bifurcations. Phase portraits are also provided to illustrate more details of the dynamics, which confirm the previous theoretical finding that the Nash equilibrium loses its stability through a 1:4 resonance bifurcation. Women entrepreneurs are a promising yet under-supported group that have notable impacts on the economy. Recent societal attempts to empower female entrepreneurs and their critical role in economic development have motivated research on determinants of women's participation in entrepreneurship and what can reduce gender disparities in this field. Drawing on insights from information economics, this paper emphasizes the recent transformations through digital technologies and examines the effect of digital readiness of an economy on women's ability to close the gap on entrepreneurial activities. Using a sample of international observations over the 2010-2016 period, we show that the capability of an economy to exploit digital opportunities increases female participation in opportunitydriven entrepreneurship. The results also indicate that the positive role of digital readiness in women's entrepreneurship strengthens in populations with higher perceived opportunity and, more interestingly, higher fear of failure. South Africa's controlled foreign company ("CFC") rules were enacted more than two decades ago before most of today's business models existed. These are anti-avoidance rules that ensure the South African taxation of profits diverted offshore by South African residents. In terms of the CFC rules, the profits of a non-resident company may also be subject to tax in South Africa at the hands of its South African resident shareholder if such non-resident company is considered to be a CFC. Advances in technology developments and the use of information communication and technology ("ICT") have given rise to what is referred to as the digital economy. The term refers to economic activities hinged on the use of ICT and the internet. Digitalisation has made it possible for a business to carry on economic activity without the need for a multitude of offices, staff, equipment, and other resources. As a result, new business models like Uber and Shien have emerged. This paper argues that the current South African CFC rules have not kept pace with these new business models and do not effectively regulate the new business models and the digital economy. This paper recommends that the CFC rules be updated to address the digital economy and new business models by amending the rules, incorporating the provisions of Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 into the rules, using countryby- country reporting, and even considering implementing a regime alternative to CFC rules.
