I will briefly discuss the history of research-related projects that Mark Burgin and I worked on together. I will then discuss our joint research related to the circle of sense and nonsense. One paper was entitled In a search for deeper meanings: navigating the circle of Sense and Nonsense and in turn articulating logical varieties as knowledge illuminators and the second was entitled In the Circle of Sense and Nonsense, Including A Mathematic Model of Meaning. This research represents a bridge between the media arts and sciences (my artwork) as a means of embodying ideas exploring a particular approach to meaning production and related computation, as well as Burgin's concepts related to logical varieties and mathematical models of meaning. I will refer to the full papers and links because they present a very robust and full articulation of the concepts discussed here. This research paper explores the realm of fault detection in distributed motors through the vision of the Internet of electrical drives. This paper aims at employing artificial neural networks supported by the data collected by the Internet of distributed devices. Cross-verification of results offers reliable diagnosis of industrial motor faults. The proposed methodology involves the development of a cyber–physical system architecture and mathematical modeling framework for efficient fault detection. The mathematical model is designed to capture the intricate relationships within the cyber–physical system, incorporating the dynamic interactions between distributed motors and their edge controllers. Fast Fourier transform is employed for signal processing, enabling the extraction of meaningful frequency features that serve as indicators of potential faults. The artificial neural network based fault detection system is integrated with the solution, utilizing its ability to learn complex patterns and adapt to varying motor conditions. The effectiveness of the proposed framework and model is demonstrated through experimental results. The experimental setup involves diverse fault scenarios, and the system's performance is evaluated in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, and false positive rates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper reviews current numerical developments for atmospheric modelling. Numerical atmospheric modelling now looks back to a history of about 70 years after the first successful numerical prediction. Currently, we face new challenges, such as variable and adaptive resolution and ultra-highly resolving global models of 1 km grid length. Large eddy simulation (LES), special applications like the numerical prediction of pollution and atmospheric contaminants belong to the current challenges of numerical developments. While pollution prediction is a standard part of numerical modelling in case of accidents, models currently being developed aim at modelling pollution at all scales from the global to the micro scale. The methods discussed in this paper are spectral elements and other versions of Local-Galerkin (L-Galerkin) methods. Classic numerical methods are also included in the presentation. For example, the rather popular second-order Arakawa C-grid method can be shown to result as a special case of an L-Galerkin method using low-order basis functions. Therefore, developments for Galerkin methods also apply to this classic C-grid method, and this is included in this paper. The new generation of highly parallel computers requires new numerical methods, as some of the classic methods are not well suited for a high degree of parallel computing. It will be shown that some numerical inaccuracies need to be resolved and this indicates a potential for improved results by going to a new generation of numerical methods. The methods considered here are mostly derived from basis functions. Such methods are known under the names of Galerkin, spectral, spectral element, finite element or L-Galerkin methods. Some of these new methods are already used in realistic models. The spectral method, though highly used in the 1990s, is currently replaced by the mentioned local L-Galerkin methods. All methods presented in this review have been tested in idealized numerical situations, the so-called toy models. Waypoints on the way to realistic models and their mathematical problems will be pointed out. Practical problems of informatics will be highlighted. Numerical error traps of some current numerical approaches will be pointed out. These are errors not occurring with highly idealized toy models. Such errors appear when the test situation becomes more realistic. For example, many tests are for regular resolution and results can become worse when the grid becomes irregular. On the sphere no regular grids exist, except for the five derived from Platonic solids. Practical problems beyond mathematics on the way to realistic applications will also be considered. A rather interesting and convenient development is the general availability of computer power. For example, the computational power available on a normal personal computer is comparable to that of a supercomputer in 2005. This means that interesting developments, such as the small sphere atmosphere with a resolution of 1 km and a spherical circumference between 180 and 360 km are available to the normal owner of a personal computer (PC). This paper introduces an autonomous robot designed for in-pipe structural health monitoring of oil/gas pipelines. This system employs a 3D Optical Laser Scanning Technical Vision System (TVS) to continuously scan the internal surface of the pipeline. This paper elaborates on the mathematical methodology of 3D laser surface scanning based on dynamic triangulation. This paper presents the mathematical framework governing the combined kinematics of the Mobile Robot (MR) and TVS. It discusses the custom design of the MR, adjusting it to use of robustized mathematics, and incorporating a laser scanner produced using a 3D printer. Both experimental and theoretical approaches are utilized to illustrate the formation of point clouds during surface scanning. This paper details the application of the simple and robust mathematical algorithm RANSAC for the preliminary processing of the measured point clouds. Furthermore, it contributes two distinct and simplified criteria for detecting defects in pipelines, specifically tailored for computer processing. In order to fulfill the practical application demands of precisely localizing underwater vehicles using passive electric field localization technology, we propose a scalar-potential-based method for the passive electric field localization of underwater vehicles. This method is grounded on an intelligent differential evolution algorithm and is particularly suited for use in three-layer and stratified oceanic environments. Firstly, based on the potential distribution law of constant current elements in a three-layer parallel stratified ocean environment, the mathematical positioning model is established using the mirror method. Secondly, the differential evolution (DE) algorithm is enhanced with a parameter-adaptive strategy and a boundary mutation processing mechanism to optimize the key objective function in the positioning problem. Additionally, the simulation experiments of the current element in the layered model prove the effectiveness of the proposed positioning method and show that it has no special requirements for the sensor measurement array, but the large range and moderate number of sensors are beneficial to improve the positioning effect. Finally, the laboratory experiments on the positioning method proposed in this paper, involving underwater simulated current elements and underwater vehicle tracks, were carried out successfully. The results indicate that the positioning method proposed in this paper can achieve the performance requirements of independent initial value, strong anti-noise capabilities, rapid positioning speed, easy implementation, and suitability in shallow sea environments. Active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is widely used in airborne optoelectronic stabilization platforms due to its minimal reliance on the mathematical model of the controlled object. The extended state observer (ESO) is the core of ADRC, which treats internal parameter variations and external disturbances as total disturbances, observes the disturbances as extended states, and then compensates them into the control loop to eliminate their effects. However, the ESO can only achieve a precise estimation of constant or slowly varying disturbances. When the disturbance is periodically changing, satisfactory results cannot be obtained. In this paper, a generalized high-order extended state observer (GHOESO) is proposed to achieve the precise estimation of known frequency sinusoidal disturbance signals and improve disturbance suppression levels. Through numerical simulations, a traditional ESO and GHOESO are compared in terms of disturbance observation capability and disturbance suppression ability for single and compound disturbances based on our prior knowledge of disturbance frequency. The effectiveness of the proposed GHOESO method is verified. Finally, the algorithm is applied to an airborne optoelectronic stabilization platform for a 1°/1 Hz swing experiment on a space hexapod swing table. Economic globalization and the rapid development of the Internet make logistics systems more and more diversified, people and enterprises have greatly increased their requirements for logistics systems, and fourth party logistics has received more and more attention from people and related enterprises. In order to further study the routing problem under uncertain stochastic environments, this paper considers the fourth party logistics routing problem from a single manufacturer to multiple distributors with uncertain times and random supplies under the complete information symmetry scenario and symmetric transportation volume decision space. Then, an uncertain stochastic programming model is established with the minimum total cost as its core objective, and the total transportation time, manufacturer's supply, and distributor's demand as constraints. In order to solve the optimal path of the above problems, this paper transforms the uncertain stochastic programming model into a classical mathematical programming model based on the distribution functions of uncertain time and random supply. This paper presents the numerical solution of the heat conduction model with a fractional derivative of the Riemann–Liouville type with respect to the spatial variable. The considered mathematical model assumes the dependence on temperature of the material parameters (such as specific heat, density, and thermal conductivity) of the model. In the paper, the boundary conditions of the first and second types are considered. If the heat flux equal to zero is assumed on the left boundary, then the thermal symmetry is obtained, which results in a simplification of the problem and the possibility of considering only half the area. The issues of the evaluation and prediction of the reliability and testability of mining machinery and equipment are becoming particularly relevant, since the safety of technological processes and human life is reaching a new level of realisation due to changes in mining technology. The work is devoted to the development of a logical model for analysing the controllability of mining equipment. The paper presents a model of reliability of the operation of mining equipment on the example of a mine load and passenger hoist. This generalised model is made in the form of a graph of transitions and supplemented with a system of equations. The model allows for the estimation of the reliability of equipment elements and equipment as a whole. A mathematical and logical model for the calculation of the availability and downtime coefficients of various designs of mining equipment systems is proposed. This model became the basis for the methods to calculate the optimal values of diagnostic depth. At these calculated values, the maximum value of availability factor will be obtained. In this paper, an analytical study was carried out and dependences of the readiness factor of parameters of the investigated system such as the intensity of control of technical systems, intensity of failures, etc., were constructed. The paper proposes a mathematical model to assess the reliability of mine hoisting plants through its integration into the method of improving the reliability of mine hoisting plants. This paper presents a centralized disturbance suppression strategy for distributed drive electric vehicles which is based on model predictive direct motion control. This strategy is capable of addressing issues such as parameter uncertainties and external disturbances in vehicles. Firstly, the paper provides a brief introduction to model predictive direct motion control. Secondly, it analyzes the impact of vehicle parameter uncertainties and external disturbances on the mathematical model. Finally, a centralized disturbance suppression strategy based on a sliding mode observer is proposed. This paper undertakes a revisit of the sunk cost fallacy, which refers to the tendency of people to persist investing resources into something, even if it is destined to have no good outcome. We emphasize that the utilities associated with different alternatives are not static for decision makers, which is exactly opposite to the traditional perspective. This paper argues that the utility of an option may change due to the choice of another option, suggesting that decisions considered irrational by the traditional analytical method, i.e., sunk cost fallacy, may be rational. We propose a novel analytical method for decision making with sunk cost when considering the utility change and validate the effectiveness of this method through mathematical modeling and computational experiments. This paper mathematically describes such decision-making problems, analyzing the impact of changes in the utilities across different alternatives on decision making with a real-world example. Furthermore, we develop a two-stage stochastic optimization model for such decision-making problems and employ the sample average approximation (SAA) method to solve them. The results from computational experiments indicate that some decisions traditionally considered irrational are, in fact, rational when the utility of an option changes as a result of choosing another option. This paper, therefore, highlights the significance of incorporating utility changes into the decision-making process and stands as a valuable addition to the literature, offering a refreshed and effective decision-making method for improved decision making. This paper proposes a mathematical model for the shading profiles of a PV module with thin, long linear elements. The model includes the brightness distribution over the entire shading region (umbra, penumbra, and antumbra). A corresponding calculation code in the form of m-files has been prepared for the MATLAB environment. The input data for the calculations are the coordinates of the Sun's position in the sky, the dimensions and spatial orientation of the shading element, and the spatial orientation of the shaded PV module. The correctness of the model was verified by a measurement experiment carried out under actual outdoor weather conditions. Statistical analysis of the comparison between the measurement data from the experiment and the model showed its high accuracy. As part of this research work, it was also checked how shading with thin linear elements affects the current–voltage characteristics of the module. It turned out that even a small linear shading could reduce the power output of the module by more than 6%, with the distribution of this shading across the individual cells of the module being extremely important. There is uncertainty in the results of any mathematical model due to different reasons. It is important to estimate this uncertainty. Sensitivity analysis is commonly used to estimate how the changes in the input parameters affect the solutions of the model. In this paper, we discuss different ways of performing local and global sensitivity analyses and apply them to two models: an epidemic model and a new myocardial infarction model, both based on ordinary differential equations. The first model is a simple model used to explain the ideas, while the second one shows how to apply them to a model with more state variables and parameters. We find that if the parameters are not accurately known, local sensitivity analysis can be misleading and that global sensitivity methods that sample the whole parameter space, varying all the values of the parameters at the same time, are the most reliable. In theory, two extreme forms of substances exist: the pure form and the single-molecule mixture form. The latter contains a mixture of molecules with molecularly different structures. Inspired by the "chemical space" concept, in this paper, I report a study of the single-molecule mixture state that combines model construction and mathematical analysis, obtaining some interesting results. These results provide theoretical evidence that the single-molecule mixture state may indeed exist in realistic synthetic or natural polymer systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The effective operation of model-based control strategies in modern energy systems, characterized by significant complexity, is contingent upon highly accurate large-scale models. However, achieving such precision becomes challenging in complex energy systems rife with uncertainties and disturbances. Controlling different parts of the energy system poses a challenge to achieving optimal power system efficiency, particularly when employing model-based control strategies, thereby adding complexity to current systems. This paper proposes a novel model-independent control approach aimed at augmenting transient stability and voltage regulation performance in multi machine energy systems. The approach involves the introduction of an optimized model-free fractional-order-based excitation system stabilizer for synchronous generators in a multi machine energy system. To overcome the limitations associated with complex system model identification, which add degrees of simplification at defined operating conditions and assume the system model remains fixed despite high uncertainty and numerous disturbances, an optimal model-independent fractional-order-based excitation control strategy is introduced. The efficacy of the proposed approach is validated through comparative numerical analyses using the MATLAB/Simulink environment. These simulations were conducted on a two-area, 12-bus multi-machine power system. Simulation results demonstrate that the presented excitation system stabilizer outperforms conventional controllers in terms of transient and small-signal stability. This paper investigates the behavior of a fluid queue driven by a non-truncated Erlangian service queue, focusing on the symmetrical properties within the system. This study determines the formulations of the steady-state distribution of both the buffer content and stationary state probabilities of a background queueing system. The efficient generating function technique is employed, utilizing a new generalization of the modified Bessel function of the second kind. Performance metrics such as mean buffer content and throughput are calculated, and server utilization is examined. The results contribute to the understanding of fluid queueing systems and offer insights into their performance in various applications, including telecommunications, manufacturing systems, healthcare operations, and ecological models, where symmetry plays a critical role in optimizing performance. The purpose of this paper is to present a fractional nonlinear mathematical model with beta-cell kinetics and glucose–insulin feedback in order to describe changes in plasma glucose levels and insulin levels over time that may be associated with changes in beta-cell kinetics. We discuss the solution to the problem with respect to its existence, uniqueness, non-negativity, and boundedness. Using three different fractional derivative operators, the proposed model is examined. To approximate fractional-order systems, we use an efficient numerical Euler method in Caputo, Caputo–Fabrizio, and Atangana–Baleanu sense. Several asymptomatic behaviors are observed in the proposed models based on these three operators. These behaviors do not appear in integer-order derivative models. These behaviors are essential for understanding fractional-order systems dynamics. Our results provide insight into fractional-order systems dynamics. Variable (feature) selection plays an important role in data analysis and mathematical modeling. This paper aims to address the significant lack of formal evaluation benchmarks for feature selection algorithms (FSAs). To evaluate FSAs effectively, controlled environments are required, and the use of synthetic datasets offers significant advantages. We introduce a set of ten synthetically generated datasets with known relevance, redundancy, and irrelevance of features, derived from various mathematical, logical, and geometric sources. Additionally, eight FSAs are evaluated on these datasets based on their relevance and novelty. The paper first introduces the datasets and then provides a comprehensive experimental analysis of the performance of the selected FSAs on these datasets including testing the FSAs' resilience on two types of induced data noise. The analysis has guided the grouping of the generated datasets into four groups of data complexity. Lastly, we provide public access to the generated datasets to facilitate bench-marking of new feature selection algorithms in the field via our Github repository. Truck hoisting detection constitutes a key focus in port security, for which no optimal resolution has been identified. To address the issues of high costs, susceptibility to weather conditions, and low accuracy in conventional methods for truck hoisting detection, a non-intrusive detection approach is proposed in this paper. The proposed approach utilizes a mathematical model and an extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) model. Electrical signals, including voltage and current, collected by Hall sensors are processed by the mathematical model, which augments their physical information. Subsequently, the dataset filtered by the mathematical model is used to train the XGBoost model, enabling the XGBoost model to effectively identify abnormal hoists. Improvements were observed in the performance of the XGBoost model as utilized in this paper. Finally, experiments were conducted at several stations. The overall false positive rate did not exceed 0.7% and no false negatives occurred in the experiments. The experimental results demonstrated the excellent performance of the proposed approach, which can reduce the costs and improve the accuracy of detection in container hoisting. This paper proposes a modeling and analysis method for a Caputo–Fabrizio (C-F) definition-based fractional-order Boost converter with fractional-order inductive loads. The proposed method analyzes the system characteristics of a fractional-order circuit with three state variables. Firstly, this paper constructs a large signal model of a fractional-order Boost converter by taking advantage of the state space averaging method, providing accurate analytical solutions for the quiescent operating point and the ripple parameters of the circuit with three state variables. Secondly, this paper constructs a small signal model of the C-F definition-based fractional-order Boost converter by small signal linearization, providing the transfer function of the fractional-order system with three state variables. Finally, this paper conducts circuit-oriented simulation experiments where the steady-state parameters and the transfer function of the circuit are obtained, and then the effect of the order of capacitor, induced inductor, and load inductor on the quiescent operating point and ripple parameters is analyzed. The experimental results show that the simulation results are consistent with those obtained by the proposed mathematical model and that the three fractional orders in the fractional model with three state variables have a significant impact on the DC component and steady-state characteristics of the fractional-order Boost converter. In conclusion, the proposed mathematical model can more comprehensively analyze the system characteristics of the C-F definition-based fractional-order Boost converter with fractional-order inductive loads, benefiting the circuit design of Boost converters. The paper expands the finite difference method to the complex plane, and thus obtains an improvement in the resolution of differential equations with an increase in numerical precision and a generalization in the mathematical modeling of problems. The article begins with a selection of the best techniques for obtaining finite difference coefficients for approximating derivatives in the real domain. Then, the calculation is expanded to the complex domain. The research expands forward, backward, and central difference approximations of the real case by a quadrant approximation in the complex plane, which facilitates the use in boundary conditions of differential equations. The article shows many real and complex finite difference equations with their respective order of error, intended to serve as a basis and reference, which have been tested in practical examples of solving differential equations used in engineering. Finally, a comparison is made between the real and complex techniques of finite difference methods applied in the Theory of Elasticity. As a surprising result, the article shows that the finite difference method has great advantages in numerical precision, diversity of formulas, and modeling generalities in the complex domain when compared to the real domain. Grid-connected power inverters are indispensable in modern electrical systems, playing a pivotal role in enhancing the integration of renewable energies into power grids. Their significance, primarily when functioning as grid-forming inverters, extends to maintaining the grid's inertia and strength—a distinct advancement over traditional grid-following operations. As grid-forming inverters, these devices emulate the characteristics of synchronous generators and can act as robust voltage sources, providing essential ancillary services. This behavior is particularly relevant when integrating energy storage systems on the converters' direct current side. Among the various inverter topologies, the current source inverter (CSI) has emerged as a promising yet underexplored alternative for grid-forming applications. CSIs, when paired with their AC output filters, can effectively operate as voltage sources, utilizing control strategies that facilitate the integration of renewable energies into the electrical system. Their design inherently manages output current fluctuations, reducing the need for restrictive current limitations or additional protective measures. This paper examines the operational region of CSIs, obtained through detailed modeling, to explore their advantages, challenges, and potential for enhancing grid-connected systems. Analyzing the operating region from the converter model verifies the limits of where the converter can operate in a plane of active and reactive powers. For a small prototype model operating with 7 amperes in DC and 120 V in AC, it is possible to supply or absorb active power exceeding 1000 W and manage maximum reactive power values around 500 VAr, as determined by its operating region. Simulations also confirm that small changes in the control reference, as little as 5%, towards the region's right limits cause significant oscillations in the dynamic control responses. This research aims to deepen our understanding of CSIs' operational capabilities and highlight their unique benefits in advancing grid-connected systems and promoting the integration of renewable energy using this technology. The noun category exhibits diverse dissimilarities, characterised at the semantic (e.g., countable/uncountable) or/and morphosyntactic (e.g., determined/determinerless) level, which may be more or less important depending on languages. In this paper, we would like to discuss those differences, which we named inter-word and inter-process morphosyntactic variations. The Riffian language served us as a reference in our enquiries, before referring to other languages to show how our discoveries could be applied to them. By putting in perspective those aspects, this led us to propose a formal mathematical model denoted as a Template-Based and Modular Cognitive model. The latter is able to predict the nonlinear dynamic mapping of lexical items onto morphological templates. The aims of this article are thus manifold and cover theoretical issues. We demonstrate that nouns are organised and distributed in modular cognitive sets, having their own morphological template and unmarked forms. The extent of these sets and their number as well as the template, are specific to each language. All sorts of markers can compose with the template, but some, namely countability markers, are prevalent among several languages with no relationship. This approach allows us to explain the marking discrepancies existing between different kinds of nouns (borrowed, proper, countable and uncountable nouns) for a given linguistic variety or between languages. The main assumption of this model is that these irregular markings are caused by a template shift, occurring when items undergo a process of word and meaning formation. The reconfiguration problem (DPSR) in electrical distribution systems is a critical area of research, aimed at optimizing the operational efficiency of these networks. Historically, this problem has been approached through a variety of optimization methods. Regarding mathematical models, a key challenge identified in these models is the formulation of equations that ensure the radial operation of the system, along with the nonlinear equations representing Kirchhoff's laws, the last often necessitating complex relaxations for practical application. This paper introduces an alternative representation of system radiality, which potentially surpasses or matches the existing methods in the literature. Our approach utilizes a more intuitive and compact set of equations, simplifying the representation process. Additionally, we propose a linearization of the current calculation in the power flow model typically used to solve DPSR. This linearization significantly accelerates the process of obtaining feasible solutions and optimal reconfiguration profiles. To validate our approach, we conducted rigorous computational comparisons with the results reported in the existing literature, using a variety of test cases to ensure robustness. Our computational results demonstrate a considerable improvement in computational time. The objective functions used are competitive and, in many instances, outperform the best reported results in the literature. In some cases, our method even identifies superior solutions. This paper introduces an iterative method with a remarkable level of accuracy, namely fourth-order convergence. The method is specifically tailored to meet the optimality condition under the Kung–Traub conjecture by linear combination. This method, with an efficiency index of approximately 1.5874 , employs a blend of localized and semi-localized analysis to improve both efficiency and convergence. This study aims to investigate semi-local convergence, dynamical analysis to assess stability and convergence rate, and the use of the proposed solver for systems of nonlinear equations. The results underscore the potential of the proposed method for several applications in polynomiography and other areas of mathematical research. The improved performance of the proposed optimal method is demonstrated with mathematical models taken from many domains, such as physics, mechanics, chemistry, and combustion, to name a few. In this paper, the thermoelastic behavior of a rod made of an isotropic material under the action of a moving heat source was investigated using a new theory of thermoelasticity related to fractional-order time with two relaxation times. A mathematical model of the one-dimensional thermoelasticity problem was established based on the new thermoelasticity theory. We considered the symmetry of the material, and the fractional-order thermoelasticity control equation was given. Subsequently, the control equations were solved and analyzed using the Laplace transform and its inverse transform. This study examined the effects of fractional-order parameters, time, two thermal relaxation times, and the speed of movement of the heat source on the displacement, temperature, and stress distribution patterns in the rod. This paper addresses the issue of LED short-circuit fault detection in signaling and lighting systems in the automotive industry. The conventional diagnostic method commonly implemented in newer vehicles relies on measuring the voltage drop across different LED branches and comparing it with threshold values indicating faults caused by open circuits or LED short circuits. With this algorithm, detecting cases of a few LEDs short-circuited within a branch, particularly a single malfunctioning LED, is particularly challenging. In this work, two easily implementable algorithms are proposed to address this issue within the vehicle's control unit. One is based on a mathematical prediction model, while the other utilizes a neural network. The results obtained offer a 100% LED short-circuit fault detection rate in the majority of analyzed cases, representing a significant improvement over the conventional method, even in scenarios involving a single malfunctioning LED within a branch. Load-capacity has always been one of the performances that is paid much attention to in the development of bevel gear transmission applications. Consequently, the mathematical model of novel bevel gear with high load-capacity based on geometric elements is proposed in this paper, which could be applied to the aviation, aerospace and other fields. In parallel, the design principle and design method of the novel bevel gear are introduced in detail. Subsequently, the conditions for tooth surface continuity and non-interference are derived. Furthermore, the model of novel bevel gear is established. Finally, the load-bearing characteristics are analyzed, revealing that an increase in the number of contact points could significantly enhance the load capacity of the bevel gear pairs. When the load torque applied to bevel gear II is 100 Nm, the contact pressure endured by the bevel gear pair with five-point contact is decreased by 41.37% compared to the bevel gear pair with single-point contact. When the number of contact points is the same, increasing the distance between the contact points could also reduce the contact stress. The principal economic sector devoted to the breeding, raising, and production of farm animals is known as the livestock industry. There are precise standards for making high-quality feed in animal husbandry. Precision livestock feeding is a crucial component, with the potential to significantly impact the profitability of livestock; it permits the provision of diets to animals that are precisely tailored to their specific daily nutritional needs. Through simulation modeling, a single model can be created for automated systems to determine daily rations for farm animals. For the purposes of this document, precision livestock feeding refers to the practice of tailoring feed to individual animals or groups of animals, taking into account their changing nutritional needs over time and individual differences in terms of nutritional requirements. The practice aims to optimize animal health and performance while reducing feed waste. This paper presents a formal model for determining the quantities of components needed to achieve a minimum cost mixture that satisfies compositional and quantitative criteria. The present research calculates the amount of hay and silage required to feed an animal per day at the most economical cost by applying an optimization approach that involves defining and solving an optimization problem. The problem is solved using a well-known software package, which is necessary for the practical application of the resulting model. This paper presents an adaptive dynamic surface sliding mode control technique to address the issue of system parameter changes in permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) position servo systems. The proposed method involves adopting a linear parameter varying (LPV) observer-based parameter identification algorithm and adaptive control technique. Initially, a mathematical model of the PMSM is established, and the system parameters are divided into nominal and perturbation values. This allows for the reconstruction of the system model into a state space equation that incorporates the unknown perturbation parameters. To accurately estimate these unknown parameters, an LPV observer is designed based on the reconstructed model. Additionally, an adaptive dynamic surface sliding mode control technique is explored to achieve the desired tracking performance. Meanwhile, an exponential reaching law is introduced to expedite the dynamic behavior of the system and mitigate chattering. Finally, a suitable Lyapunov function is selected to ensure the overall stability of the system. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the parameter identification and control algorithm in achieving good identification and tracking control ability for PMSM systems. This paper studies a nonlinear fractional mathematical model for hand, foot, and mouth Disease (HFMD), incorporating a vaccinated compartment. Our initial focus involves establishing the non-negativity and boundedness of the fractional order dynamical model. The existence and uniqueness of the system are discussed using the Caputo derivative operator formulation. Applying a fixed-point approach, we obtain results that confirm the presence of at least one solution. We analyze the stability behavior at the two equilibrium points (disease-free and endemic states) of the model and derive the basic reproduction number. Numerical simulations are conducted using the fractional Euler approach, and the simulation results confirm our analytical conclusions. In the realm of cementitious materials, integrating nanoclay shows promise in enhancing properties relevant to additive manufacturing. This paper presents a novel mathematical model that combines simple empirical dissolution/nucleation Avrami-like kinetics with a thixotropic kinetics equation. To analyze the initial exothermic peak, two sets of the calculation parameter function are built to describe the exothermic rate as a function of time, following an exponential pattern. This allows for the prediction of the changes in cumulative heat and heat rate during hydration, considering different concentrations of nanoclay. In the rheological aspect, the relationship between shear stress, shear rate, and time is modeled as a combination of exponential dependencies. This enables the prediction of the variations in shear stress with one variable while holding the other constant (either time or shear rate). By integrating these aspects, this model effectively describes both the first exothermal peak and the rheological behavior during cement hydration with the inclusion of nanoclay. Validated against experimental results, these models demonstrate good accuracy (overall below 3% error), reliability, and applicability. The findings offer valuable insights into the thermal and rheological aspects of concrete printing, enabling informed design decisions for both scientific and industrial applications. Fractional calculus provides some fractional operators for us to model different real-world phenomena mathematically. One of these important study fields is the mathematical model of the elastic beam changes. More precisely, in this paper, based on the behavior patterns of an elastic beam, we consider the generalized sequential boundary value problems of the Navier difference equations by using the post-quantum fractional derivatives of the Caputo-like type. We discuss on the existence theory for solutions of the mentioned (p ; q) -difference Navier problems in two single-valued and set-valued versions. We use the main properties of the (p ; q) -operators in this regard. Application of the fixed points of the ρ - θ -contractions along with the endpoints of the multi-valued functions play a fundamental role to prove the existence results. This paper is devoted to the research of the isomorphic multidimensional cyclic structure and multidimensional phase structure of the cyclic random process (CRP) and to its formation method, which enables a rigorous formalization of intuitive ideas concerning cyclic stochastic motion. The fundamental properties of the cyclic random process and analytical dependencies between the multidimensional cyclic structure, multidimensional phase structure and rhythm structure of the CRP have been established. This work shows that the CRP is able to take into account the cyclicity of multidimensional distribution functions of cyclic signals as well as the variability in the rhythm of the investigated signals. A subclass of the CRP is the periodic random process, which allows for the use of classical processing methods of cyclic signals with a regular rhythm. Based on a series of experiments, significant advantages of the CRP as a mathematical model of electrocardiographic signals (ECG) compared to the periodic random process are shown. In this paper, we improved a mathematical model of monkeypox disease with a time delay to a crossover model by incorporating variable-order and fractional differential equations, along with stochastic fractional derivatives, in three different time intervals. The stability and positivity of the solutions for the proposed model are discussed. Two numerical methods are constructed to study the behavior of the proposed models. These methods are the nonstandard modified Euler Maruyama technique and the nonstandard Caputo proportional constant Adams-Bashfourth fifth step method. Many numerical experiments were conducted to verify the efficiency of the methods and support the theoretical results. Symmetry is an important principle and characteristic that is prevalent in nature and artificial environments. In the three-dimensional packing problem, leveraging the inherent symmetry of goods and the symmetry of the packing space can enhance packing efficiency and utilization.The three-dimensional packing problem is an NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem in the field of modern logistics, with high computational complexity. This paper proposes an improved genetic algorithm by incorporating a fusion tabu search strategy to address this problem. The algorithm employs a three-dimensional loading mathematical model and utilizes a wall-building method under residual space constraints for stacking goods. Furthermore, adaptation of fitness variation strategy, chromosome adjustment, and tabu search algorithm are introduced to balance the algorithm's global and local search capabilities, as well as to enhance population diversity and convergence speed. Through testing on benchmark cases such as Bischoff and Ratcliff, the improved algorithm demonstrates an average increase of over 3% in packing space utilization compared to traditional genetic algorithms and other heuristic algorithms, validating its feasibility and effectiveness. The proposed improved genetic algorithm provides new insights for solving three-dimensional packing problems and optimizing logistics loading schedules, offering promising prospects for various applications. Back pain is regularly associated with biomechanical changes in the spine. The traditional methods to assess spine biomechanics use ionising radiation. Vertebral Metrics (VM) is a non-invasive instrument developed by the authors in previous research that assesses the spinous processes' position. However, the spine model used by VM is not accurate. To overcome it, the present paper proposes a pioneering and simple articulated model of the spine built through the data collected by VM. The model is based on the spring–mass system and uses the Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm to find the arrangement of vertebral bodies. It represents the spine as rigid geometric transformations from one vertebra to the other when the extremity vertebrae are stationary. The validation process used the Bland–Altman method to compare the Cobb and the intervertebral angles computed by the model with the radiographic exams of eight patients diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis. The results suggest that the model is valid; however, previous clinical information would improve outcomes by customising the lower and upper vertebrae positions, since the study revealed that the C6 rotation slightly influences the computed angles. A critical function of polymeric matrices in biological systems is to exert selective control over the transport of thousands of nanoparticulate species. Utilizing "third-party" molecular anchors to crosslink nanoparticulates to the matrix is an effective strategy, and a trapped nanoparticulate formed a desired complex MAP that is necessary to keep the nanoparticulate immobilized at any given time. In this paper, the global solution and stability of a parabolic–ordinary-parabolic haptotaxis system to complex MAP are studied. First, the existence of a local classical solution to system (4) has been observed using fixed point argument and parabolic Schauder estimates. Furthermore, some a priori estimates that can raise the regularity estimate of the solution for the relatively complicated first equation of system (3) from L ρ to L 2 ρ ( ρ ≥ 1 ) are given; then, the local classic solution can thus extend to the global classic solution when the space dimension N ≤ 3 . Lastly, by using various analytical methods, a threshold value ξ 00 (ξ 00 < 0) is found, such that positive constant steady state (u ∗ , v ∗ , w ∗) becomes unstable when ξ < ξ 00 . The three-phase imbalance in low-voltage distribution networks (LVDNs) seriously threatens the security and stability of the power system. At present, a standard solution is automatic phase commutation, but this method has limitations because it does not address the branch imbalance and premature convergence or instability of the commutation algorithm. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel refined regulation commutation system, combined with a modified optimized commutation algorithm, and designs a model and simulation for feasibility verification. The refined regulatory model incorporates branch control units into the traditional commutation system. This effectively disperses the main controller's functions to each branch and collaborates with intelligent fusion terminals for precise adjustment. The commutation algorithm designed in this paper, combined with the above model, adopts strategies such as symbol encoding, cubic chaotic mapping, and adaptive adjustment based on traditional genetic algorithms. In addition, in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, this paper establishes a mathematical model with the minimum three-phase imbalance and commutation frequency as objectives and establishes a simulation model. The results of the simulation demonstrate that this method can successfully lower the three-phase imbalance of the low-voltage distribution network. It leads to a decrease of the main circuit's three-phase load imbalance rate from 27% to 6% and reduces each branch line's three-phase imbalance ratio to below 10%. After applying the method proposed in this paper, the main and branches circuit three-phase imbalance are both lower than the limit ratio of the LVDNs, which can improve the quality and safety of electricity consumption. Additionally, the results also prove that the commutation algorithm under this method has faster convergence speed, better application effect, and better stability, which has promotion and application value. Fuzzy logic is becoming one of the most-influential fields of modern mathematics with applications that impact not only other sciences, but society in general. This newly found interest in fuzzy logic is in part due to the crucial role it plays in the development of artificial intelligence. As a result, new tools and practices for the development of the above-mentioned field are in high demand. This is one of the issues this paper was composed to address. To be more specific, a sizable part of fuzzy logic is the study of fuzzy connectives. However, the current method used to generalize them is restricted to the use of basic automorphisms, which hinders the creation of new fuzzy connectives. For this reason, in this paper, a new method of generalization is conceived of that aims to generalize the fuzzy connectives using polynomial automorphism functions instead. The creation of these automorphisms is achieved through numerical analysis, an endeavor that is supported with programming applications that, using mathematical modeling, validate and visualize the research. Furthermore, the automorphisms satisfy all the necessary criteria that have been established for use in the generalization process and, consequently, are used to successfully generalize fuzzy connectives. Many optimization mathematical models, associated with the technical-economic processes of real-world problems, have elements of uncertainty in their structure, which places them in stochastic optimization programming. Their diversity and complexity, due to the large uncertainty space, require special methods of solving, because there is no general solution method. Within this context, in this paper we consider the category of optimization models that can contain random variable type coefficients and/or imposed probability levels on the constraints. The purpose of the paper is to propose a methodology dedicated to these studied models. Applying the methodology leads to developing a deterministic linear programming model, associated with the initial stochastic model. In fact, the proposed methodology reduces the stochastic formulation to a deterministic formulation. The methodology is illustrated with a numerical case study based on a manufacturing problem. Solving the obtained deterministic model is carried out in the version assisted by a specialized software product (WinQSB Version 2.0). It allows for the performing of a sensitivity analysis of the optimal solution, and/or a parametric analysis relative to certain model coefficients, both also presented in the paper. The main result of the study in this paper is the proposed methodology, which is applicable on a large scale, for any mathematical model of stochastic optimization of the mentioned type, regardless of complexity, dimensions and the domain of the process to which it is associated. The numerical results obtained when applying this methodology indicate its efficiency and effectiveness in finding the solution for the studied models. The approach to this issue in the present paper is determined by the wide range of stochastic optimization problems in the various studied real-life processes and by the imperative need to adopt the best decisions in conditions of uncertainty. This paper is devoted to the analysis of mathematical models of chemotherapy for malignant tumors growing according to the Gompertz law or the generalized logistic law. The influence of the therapeutic agent on the tumor dynamics is determined by a therapy function depending on the time-varying concentration of the drug in the patient's body. The case of a non-monotonic therapy function with two maxima is studied. It reflects the use of two different therapeutic agents. The state variables of the dynamics are the tumor volume and the amount of the therapeutic agent able to suppress malignant cells (concentration of the drug in the body). The treatment protocol (the rate of administration of the therapeutic agent) is the control in the dynamics. The optimal control problem for this models is considered. It is the problem of the construction of treatment protocols that provide the minimal tumor volume at the end of the treatment. The solution of this problem was obtained by the authors in previous works via the optimal control theory. The form of the considered therapy functions provides a specific structure for the optimal controls. The managerial insights of this structure are discussed. In this paper, the structure of the viability set is described for the model according to the generalized logistic law. It is the set of the initial states of the model for which one can find a treatment protocol that guarantees that the tumor volume remains within the prescribed limits throughout the treatment. The description of the viability set's structure is based on the optimal control theory and the theory of Hamilton–Jacobi equations. An inverse problem of therapy is also considered, namely the problem of reconstruction of the treatment protocol and identification of the unknown parameter of the intensity of the tumor growth. Reconstruction is carried out by processing information about the observations of the tumor volume dynamics and the measurements of the drug concentration in the body. The paper presents a review of models that can be used to describe dynamics of lung cancer growth and its response to treatment at both cell population and intracellular processes levels. To address the latter, models of signaling pathways associated with cellular responses to treatment are overviewed. First, treatment options for lung cancer are discussed, and main signaling pathways and regulatory networks are briefly reviewed. Then, approaches used to model specific therapies are discussed. Following that, models of intracellular processes that are crucial in responses to therapies are presented. It is simple to implement conventional current control with a proportional integral (PI) controller. However, system stability and dynamic performance are not perfect, particularly when operating under unfavorable conditions. In this paper, an improved control method is proposed by introducing a compensation unit. The compensation unit can effectively compensate the system's phase around the crossover frequency, greatly enhancing the system's phase margin and stability. It is also capable of handling weak-grid conditions. In this paper, the concept of the proposed compensation unit is explained first. Then, the corresponding mathematical model for the current control loop is built, and system bode diagrams for the conventional and proposed methods are compared. Furthermore, the effect of the parameters for the compensation unit is investigated, and an optimization method is proposed to determine optimal parameters. In addition, to handle weak-grid conditions, the proposed scheme is expanded by including the compensation unit in the grid's feed-forward loop. In modern converter-dominated power systems, total inertia is very variable and depends on the share of power generated by renewable-based converter-interfaced generation (CIG) at each specific moment. As a result, the limits required by the grid codes on the rate of change of frequency and its nadir or zenith during disturbances become challenging to achieve with conventional control approaches. Therefore, the transition to a novel control strategy of CIG with a grid-forming power converter is relevant. For this purpose, a control algorithm based on a virtual synchronous generator (VSG) is used, which simulates the properties and capabilities of a conventional synchronous generation. However, due to continuously changing operating conditions in converter-dominated power systems, the virtual inertia formed by VSG must be adaptive. At the same time, the efficiency of adaptive algorithms strongly depends on the used VSG structure. In this connection, this paper proposes an enhanced VSG structure for which the transfer function of the active power control loop was formed. With the help of it, the advantages over the conventional VSG structure were proven, which are necessary for the effective adaptive control of the VSG parameters. Then, the analysis of the impact of the VSG parameters on the dynamic response using the transient characteristics in the time domain was performed. Based on the results obtained, adaptive algorithms for independent control of the virtual inertia and the parameters of the VSG damper winding were developed. The performed mathematical modeling confirmed the reliable and effective operation of the developed adaptive control algorithms and the enhanced VSG structure. The theoretical and experimental results obtained in this paper indicate the need for simultaneous development and improvement of both adaptive control algorithms and VSG structures used for this purpose.
