- Abstract
This essay deals with the issue of causality in epidemiology from the 1970s onwards, whose starting point adopted here was the publication of The Causal Thinking in Health Sciences by M. Susser, up to the present day, seeking to list the various philosophical, theoretical and methods that throughout these 50 years have sought to reflect on the problem of causality in the discipline, in view of the predominance of observational research in the field. Starting from Susser's seminal contribution, several movements were discussed as well as their criticisms, such as the proposal to adopt Popperian logic on the 1980s, the criticism of multicausal models and the ecosocial theory proposed by N. Krieger in the 1990s, criticism of social epidemiology also in the 1990s, the influence of J.Pearl and the adoption of directed acyclic graphs as a new tool in the issue of causality. The so-called methodological revolution at the beginning of this century and the criticism of philosophers and epidemiologists to this reductionist approach were also reviewed, as well as the alternatives proposed in the last 10 years, including the inferentialist perspective, the triangulation of methods and the defense of social epidemiology and their determination models. 3. O metafenômeno como gênese no processo de triangulação da pesquisa qualitativa na era digital.

- Abstract
The qualitative research triangulation process developed by Tuzzo and Braga (2016) adopts a theoretical-methodological reasoning to explain that triangulation in qualitative research can be understood in another way. The multi-method proposal initially elaborated by the researchers is concretized from the definition of the object, the subject and the phenomenon, suggesting, in the study originally developed, that the vertices of triangulation are actually new levels of investigation. In light of the digital revolution, and the advancement of the internet, especially from digital social media platforms, this article presents a new look at the metaphenomenon and its genesis in the triangulation process, providing new perspectives on qualitative research, in such a way that that the subject and object of the research were substantially modified due to the change that occurred in the phenomena, whose change ultimately occurred in its genesis, that is, changes in the facts and/or elements that contributed to produce the phenomena. Thus, the possibility of triangulation even when dealing with the same perspective - qualitative - seems to be an approach that is sustained and makes sense as it offers the researcher multiple and different views of the same place of speech. This reflection is strengthened by showing that triangulation can be carried out in the same type of research - qualitative, which is now expanded and can occur in two ways: physical or digital. As a phenomenon is only part of the various phenomena that make up the metaphenomenon category, choosing a phenomenon, an object and a subject and choosing the mode (physical/digital) explains and enables qualitative research to be carried out from the perspective of the metaphenomenon It is in the metaphenomenon that the possibility of multiple research originates, it is in it that the complexity of research is understood, it is the genesis of the entire investigation process. Purpose: This study aims to understand how organizations accelerate digital transformation (DT) and leverage innovations in digital services in the modus operandi of dynamic capabilities (DC) development. DT provides an agile resource mobilization in relation to the operational flexibility and to the technological and informational capabilities. Originality/value: This study contributes with a new theoretical-applied perspective on agility as a necessary competence for DC development, being investigated in an emerging country, in this case, Brazil. The development of DC that are suitable for DT becomes critical for capturing opportunities in the dynamic digital environment. Design/methodology/approach: Forty companies in the Brazilian territory were investigated in order to explore the relation between DC and DT, focusing on agility and based on the logic of literal and theoretical replication of case studies. The theoretical framework was applied to investigate companies from three empirical fields (energy, automotive, and digital services), within the triangulation of secondary sources, management reports and internal documents. Findings: The cases analyzed provide evidence that agility does not presuppose strong DC in sensing, as it depends on services' maturity. We highlight the mediation of the applied use of intangible resources and digitized assets that speed up the seizing and transformation of the business. In the context of digital assets in intensive environments, we propose that DT strategy may be used with analytical intelligence and agility by integrating technological processes. PRESSURE ulcers , *WHEELCHAIRS , *DATA analysis , *QUALITY of life , *TRIANGULATION , *DISCOURSE analysis - Abstract
This study aimed to understand the perception of wheelchair users about the interference of pressure injuries in their daily lives. This research is characterized as applied, descriptive, and participant, with data analysis and discussion under the qualitative paradigm. The group of interviewees was composed of 14 wheelchair users. Data were analyzed from the perspective of discourse analysis, followed by triangulation. The results indicated that the interviewees are aware of and understand the complexity of the care required when facing the development of pressure ulcer; however, they are not always able to apply it daily. The injury not only affects the user's physical health but also interferes deeply in the psychosocial field, implying limitations and care that make them dependent on other people. Thus, the importance of preventive measures that can provide an improvement in the quality of life of these individuals is evident. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

OBJECT relations , *TRIANGULATION , *AMBIVALENCE , *SELF - Abstract
This article consists of an investigation into the Oedipus complex based on a clinical case study. Our aim is to reflect on the subjective impasses resulting from non-resolution of the oedipal situation. In Kleinian theory, the pre-oedipal period is now conceived as part of the oedipal situation, which creates the conditions for triangulation, starting a path that may or may not lead to the Oedipus complex. In the field of primary object relations, the inability of the object to receive and transform the projections coming from the child compromises the internalization of triangulation. Incipient triangulation is interrupted due to this failure. The study of a clinical case helped us to reflect on the intrasubjective and intersubjective difficulties related to a prevalence of the oedipal situation in the resolution of the Oedipus complex. When triangulation cannot be sustained there is fragility in the demarcation of the limits of the self and a consequent difficulty tolerating ambivalence. The predominance of the oedipal situation implies a failure in the differentiation between the self and objects, causing a state of confusion between psychic reality and the external world. We suggest that analytical work allowed the patient to construct more consistent psychic boundaries, modifying her dual relationship with the parental couple. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SCHOLARSHIPS , *DATA analysis , *TEACHER training , *TRIANGULATION , *TEACHERS - Abstract
In this article we present an analysis of the influences of Institutional Scholarship Initiative Program in the narrowing of the relation between school and university. For this analysis, interviews were conducted with 18 teachers (between coordinators, collaborators, and supervisors) and 48 scholarship students from four PIBID subprojects of a Brazilian federal university between the years of 2013 and 2014. For the analysis and discussion of the data we used the techniques of triangulation and creation of analysis categories. Among other aspects, the results show that the Program has favoured the approach between school and university and contributed to the demystification of the conception of superiority of one over the other. However, some aspects were pointed out as limiting, such as the university's lack of support for the activities carried out and the lack of training and support from the teaching networks to the supervisors for the planning and orientation of the scholarship students. CONCEPTUAL models , *CONTENT analysis , *EXPERIENTIAL learning , *TRIANGULATION , *ACQUISITION of data - Abstract
In the teaching-learning process of Administration disciplines, it is essential to understand the market dynamics. However, the labor and/or business market is not part of the reality of many young students enrolled in technical and superior courses. So, the building of a market view to them presents a challenge to professors. To overcome this barrier, it is possible to use experimental learning with business games. This study aims to build a business games framework able to support a business game building, adapted to IF Sudeste MG Juiz de Fora campus context. It uses data triangulation as a data collect methodology through bibliographic research, documentary research and interviews, analyzed through content analysis. As a result, a conceptual model applied to the automotive market scenario was proposed. Although this model considers a specific institution context, it is possible that many concepts herein used could be compatible with other educational realities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The objective of this article is to develop a measurement model, by means of the definition of indicators constructed from the analysis of the cultural elements, that may favor the adoption of eco-innovation practices in the construction industry, as a source of competitive capacity. It is a research characterized as descriptive and exploratory, qualitative approach and techniques content analysis and triangulation. The results show that the studied cultural elements favor the adoption of eco-innovation practices, through environmental sources that guide the development of environmental and innovative practices, which allow companies to obtain competitive capacity, through the presentation of attributes of reduction of environmental impacts. From this perspective, a diagnostic roadmap for indicators has been developed, which can be a strategic mechanism, since it provides an evaluation tool, which provides feedback on what needs to be developed to design a more eco-innovative approach to innovation culture. This study aims to analyze the limits and possibilities that the Joint Action Plan - PAR brings to the education management in municipalities in the State of Rio Grande do Sul belonging to AMZOP (Association of Municipalities in the Production Zone). We adopted a qualitative approach (FLICK, 2009; 2012), which characterizes our study as a multiple case study (YIN, 2001; TRIVIÑOS, 1987). We use Google questionnaires for data collection, through which we send an access link to all Education Departments in the municipalities of AMZOP / RS. For analysis purposes, we use data triangulation (GIL, 2008; FLICK, 2009) and content analysis (BARDIN, 2011). We listed the limits and possibilities that PAR brought to education in the municipalities participating in the research. The main result we found was access to financial infrastructure resources for education networks. The main limitation we can highlight was the centralization of resources and decisions at the federal level. The study confirms singular changes in education management in the municipalities belonging to AMZOP / RS, from PAR. There is a need for a critical analysis of the plan and management that is municipalities are developing. It regards democratization based on the principles of autonomy, power decentralization, and effective community participation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Broaches social processes involving morality, normativity, violence, life, and death. I base my argument on an ethnographic research conducted in a slum in Belo Horizonte, which is the triangulation between three primordial normative regimes--that of the "crime world", that of the state, and that of the church--that will produce what the theoretical Judith Butler calls a framework, that is, the frame that separates who is on the inside from who is on the outside from what is intelligible. I conclude that, since this is a territory marked by violence, it is this triangulation that will separate who is "human" from who is "killable". [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article is about the new configuration of Brazilian political and ideological groupings. It will highlight for Podemos, Patriotas, and Novo (which one includes all political groups). All of them are in contact with civil society through a false new identity pursuing to provide some innovative discourses for the population who is tired witch the traditional groups in Brazilian politic. This research interested to discuss and to reflect if the linkages between the political realms and the demands of civil society could do the new stricto sensu something original or if this theme it is just a new proposal of communication about old ideas. The analytical method is exploring research about the objectives and it use bibliography and documental research like technical procedure, beyond the data triangulation adopting multiple perceptions (Maff ezzolli and Boehs), especially the transgression of the Imaginary (Maff esoli, Silva and Durand), Identity (Hall) and the approach about the Notion of Awareness and Transgression by Becker. The results show that a new politic group supported by changing politic speeches and the promotion of the new point of view will be so far to practice in an eff ective way the values of political groupings have been suggested and communicated. For that, the hypothesis of this research suggests a political influence existence in this strategic process of vigilance coming from voters and opinion leaders. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

UNDERGRADUATE programs , *ACQUISITION of data , *ACCOUNTANTS , *SUSTAINABILITY , *TRIANGULATION - Abstract
It was investigated the opinion of students in the Accountancy undergraduate program regarding the notion of sustainability. Theoretically, the concepts of sustainability, morals and ethics and the accountant educational and professional training were articulated. A survey was carried out and data collection involved the triangulation by combining the application of a questionnaire and documentary research. The sample consisted of 285 students (36.12% of the population size) of all periods and shifts of the course. The results reveal that the notion of sustainability predominant in the literature, which presupposes the equitable treatment of the economic, social and environmental dimensions, is not shared by the respondents. Contrariwise, it was observed the prevalence of the economic dimension in relation to the other dimensions. In part, this prevalence is anchored in the opportunist and utilitarian logic that permeates the accountant education. The results point to the need of rethinking the current education model towards a sustainable logic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This text is the result of qualitative research and is developed from the triangulation of bibliographic and documentary sources. The analytical method is used to establish a critical and reflexive look at the data. The objective is to answer the following question: How is postgraduate evaluation influenced and impacted by processes and indicators external to the university? The text is structured in three sections. In the first part, we discuss how academic productivism has impacted the management and internal organization of postgraduate programs. In the second section, we seek to identify how this productivist logic has fostered the market for so-called "predatory magazines", which take advantage of this need to publish researchers to profit and establish a "publishing market". Finally, we discuss the need for a balance between quality and quantity in order to think about and reinforce the social relevance of research and the consolidation of postgraduate evaluation policies that can guarantee this equity necessary for the full exercise of researchers. We conclude that the evaluation is an important step for the improvement of the postgraduate, however, subjected to the dictates of managerialism, productivity and performativity produces harmful effects on research, teachers / researchers and training processes. The aim of this article was to analyze the alignment of Environmental Training Needs Assessment (TNA) process in three large companies in the Brazilian chemical sector, for which sustainability is a strategic factor of competitive advantage. This study is justified by the need to deepen studies on the role of TNA, as a theme on which there are few studies aligned with the organizational goals and strategies, focusing on the environmental dimension of sustainability in the context of the Brazilian chemical sector. We used the qualitative research approach, with multiple case studies based on triangulation of sources of evidence. The results confirm that the systematization of environmental training needs assessment, through its individual, group and organizational comprehensiveness and the use of proactive approaches, can potentiate the development of individual competences essential to sustainability, based on the skills gaps identified. The managerial contributions are related to the description of the TNA phase developed by the companies studied, which can serve as a benchmark for other companies in the sector. It also presents the companies studied with an opportunity to improve their process. In the academic context, it is hoped that this work will contribute to research on the comprehensiveness of the approaches to environmental training needs assessment, furthering research on these themes. The process of network formation can be instigated by the prism of network paradigms or instrumental and substantive rationalities translated through economic and social interests. In this context, the objective of the article is to evaluate the paradigms of networks and instrumental and substantive rationalities, inserted in the motivational factors, benefits and limitations of the Network of Technology, Innovation and Knowledge Companies. In order to conduct the case study, documents, questionnaires and interviews were used, which ensured a triangulation of data source. For the analysis of the data the technique of content analysis by frequency and categories were used. Among the main results, the constitution of the network has the rationaleconomic paradigm more clearly, but the justifications of formation are based on the social paradigm. In addition, there was predominance of the social paradigm and substantive rationality in the motivating factors, benefits and limitations of RETIC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The purpose of this study was to adapt and examine the psychometric properties, validity and reliability of the Portuguese version of the Coparenting Questionnaire (Margolin, Gordis, & John, 2001). The Coparenting Questionnaire includes 14 itens organized in 3 subscales: Cooperation, Triangulation and Conflict. Data were collected from 1,133 participants (530 fathers and 603 mothers) with preadolescent children. Factorial validity was tested through confirmatory factor analysis. The results replicated the original three-factor structure: Cooperation, Triangulation and Conflict. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated a good fit of the model for fathers (CFI = .94, RMSEA = .06, SRMR = .05) and for mothers (CFI = .96, RMSEA = .06, SRMR = .05). The instrument presents Cronbach's alpha coefficients between acceptable and good (.71 < a < .88) as well as adequate values for the convergent and discriminant validity. These results support the validity of the coparenting construct and the Portuguese version of the Coparenting Questionnaire as a valid measure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Although significant part of academic address yourself to the process of formulating strategies, implementation has proved a major challenge for organizations, it is estimated that most cases of failures in strategy is due to poor execution. This paper focuses on overcoming the obstacles faced in the implementation of strategic actions from the perspective of the management of internal processes, seeking to understand how the management-oriented business processes could help firms improve their performance and increase their ability to execute strategic. The case study conducted with a field of oil industry, raised about organizational processes through documentary research and questionnaires with key managers and key people in the company. To support the analysis of the data relations were established between the key concepts of the study and the variables evaluated in the four research instruments, seeking to carry out the triangulation between the perceptions of different subjects consulted and the data collected in the research document. The results obtained showed that the main obstacles faced by the company to perform the actions proposed in its Strategic Plan could be at least partly overcome through the implementation of management practices oriented processes. To support efforts to increase the ability to execute strategic actions for improvement have been identified to facilitate the increased maturity of the company in relation to management-oriented business processes. This study describes how the social networks of the entrepreneurs participating in the Cooperation Networks AutoRede, in the municipality of Novo Hamburgo, are structured. This is a case study in which qualitative and quantitative methods were used, in an evaluation process of information called triangulation (date triangulation and method triangulation). The study focuses on patterns of networks characterized by specifics contents: the networks of support or influence, friendship, information and trust. We analyzed the interrelationship of the dimensions of the social capital of AutoRede in order to present how these relations are built in the context of this specific network. The results showed that the networks surveyed are sparse and that there are actors who concentrate the centrality, considering the contents analyzed. Furthermore, the trust network is the smallest networks, confirming the state postulated by the theory. The findings showed that the construction of the entrepreneur's network is based on diversity of roles, with the relations being established, in their majority, as close or very close. The findings also reveal that the networks have a low reciprocity in relations. Finally, we noticed that entrepreneurs have shared meanings and those relating to the network participation experience, and the benefits obtained, are the most relevant. As academic and applied contributions of the study, it is expected that the results will provide insights for the development of public policies towards innovation through business networks and also provide theoretical and empirical elements in order to strengthen networks and social capital theories [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the Brazilian budgetary process from the perspective of the emancipatory planning. For this purpose, the theories used are strategy formulation, public budget, emancipatory planning and developmentism. The methodology employed to analyze the case is of the qualitative nature for the description of the characteristics constructivist ontological and epistemological interpretativist. Data have been collected by bibliographic and documentary research, in addition to open-end interviews. Interview data have been grouped into categories for the purpose of content analysis with has been done through triangulation with bibliographic and documents. Results are presented from the analysis of the characteristics of the Brazilian budget, noting the evidences and opportunities under the emancipatory perspective. So even with the conclusion that the Brazilian public budget is not considered emancipatory, the research can identify the existence of various emancipatory characteristics, as well as various opportunities that can be developed in the Brazilian budget. This research contributes to the extant literature by providing empirical evidence of the emancipatory planning theory in the Brazilian budgetary process, being a pioneer initiative in Brazil to the study of the budget emancipation. The purpose of this article is to analyze the methodologies used to monitor and evaluate employability of Portuguese graduated sport students. The consultation of national and international literature was carried to understand the significance of employability concept and its implications for the methodological design used in evaluation reports of employability. Questionnaires applied by official organizations were consulted and the coherence between the dimensions/variables uncovered and the concept of employability was examined. Problems of validity, reliability, discrimination and comparability between studies were identified, which suggests that it is required find new ways to evaluate employability. One possible way consists in the use of the methodology of triangulation (data, researchers) that integrates inter-institutional research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper analyzes the performance of Local Health Councils as tools for social participation in the Family Health Strategy. It is a quali-quantitative research with triangulation method. The research took place in the city of Vitoria da Conquista, state of Bahia, Brazil. Data and information were gathered through the analysis of the agenda, followup forms, minutes of meetings of the council and semistructured interviews with key informants. The results show that the local health councils have limited performance, with a low frequency of meetings, commitments directed to the council itself and meetings on difficulties to access health care services. Low levels of social mobilization and community engagement are the main draw-backs for the good performance of these forums. Some problems stand out: counselors' representativeness, lack of motivation to perform voluntary tasks and feeling unprepared due to a poor graduation and training program. We conclude that institutionalization of local councils is not enough to promote community participation. It requires actions that can promote social mobilization and inform communities of the importance of group participation and engagement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper verifies the applicability of the digital audit in service companies, contributing to the immediate improvement of tax management. This research is considered relevant due to the opportunity to specialize the Auditors in carrying out their tasks and in other fields of endeavor, prominently in public expenditure. Through a mathematical model -- Newcomb-Benford's law --irregularities could be identified in companies, as an important tool to plan audits. This interdisciplinary research is also important due to the unedited application of this method to Service Tax. The case study strategy was used, with detailed analyses of companies inspected in 2005 and 2006. The qualitative approach was applied to better understand the functioning of the Supervision Department's organizational structure, collecting data through documentary analysis and unstructured interview. Using the quantitative approach, adherence to the model was verified, which signaled deviations. The documentary analysis, interviews and model tests acted in a constant information triangulation process. The results suggest: adherence to ISS supervision model; importance of putting the method in practice in other areas; urgent need to promote changes in forms and rules to audit firms, as well as in the dissemination of these results to Brazilian cities, mainly because no new investments are demanded, in view of scarce resources in public administration. Finally, a national research agenda is suggested to enhance tax management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We report in this paper context an analysis of Physics classes in a Public School. We elaborated a thematic unit in a technological and interdisciplinary view, which was studied by first and third grades High School students. The research focus was identifying factors that can bear on learning, on positive or negative way. We elaborated a methodological tool to analyze the context, called Episode Maps. Through these maps we investigated context on three perspectives: involvement, learning of contents and interaction with the unit. The results of this analysis guided other purposes on different investigations. They were also used for triangulations and posterior interpretations of the general research results. This study analyzes the relationship between the construct of frugality, evaluation of prices and social classes in the retail context. By means of a triangulation of techniques, a study was carried out focusing on two footwear stores whose target publics belong to different social classes. The application of the scale of frugality revealed some differences in relation to previous studies, with the emergence of three dimensions of the construct. The research also showed a trend towards a lower level of frugality in the three dimensions, as one descends the social pyramid, implying greater willingness to spend and purchase products, and revealing what could be a feature of the Brazilian lower classes in the current economic context of the country.
