Its real-time response capabilities and eloquent dialogue enhance the interactive user experience in human–AI communication like never before. By gathering several sources on the internet, LLM chatbots can interact and respond to a wide range of queries, including problem solving, text summarization, and creating informative notes. Since ophthalmology is one of the medical fields integrating image analysis, telemedicine, AI, and other technologies, LLMs are likely to play an important role in eye care in the near future. Research on graph-based automatic text summarization for Arabic, the official language of 26 nations with over 200 million speakers, as well as other prevalent languages, has recently increased due to the ability of these approaches to handle linguistic peculiarities such as complex morphological linkages. The present paper proposes a graph-based extractive Arabic text summarization (GEATS) technique that employs word embedding and PageRank algorithms for feature extraction and sentence ordering. The efficiency of the GEATS approach versus the state-of-the-art methods is analyzed based on the quality of the produced summaries over the F-measure values. It is important for abstractive summarization models to understand the important parts of the original document and create a natural summary accordingly. Recently, studies have been conducted to incorporate important parts of the original document during learning and have shown good performance. However, these studies are effective for explicit datasets but not implicit datasets which are relatively more abstract. This study addresses the challenge of summarizing implicit datasets, which have a lower deviation in the significance of important sentences compared to explicit datasets. A multi-task learning approach that reflects information about salient and incidental objects during the learning process was proposed. This was achieved by adding a contrastive objective to the fine-tuning process of the encoder-decoder language model. The salient and incidental parts were selected based on the ROUGE-L F1 score and their relationships were learned through triplet loss. The proposed method was evaluated using five benchmark summarization datasets, including two explicit and three implicit. The experimental results showed a greater improvement in implicit datasets, particularly for the highly abstractive XSum dataset, compared to the vanilla fine-tuning method in both the BART-base and T5-small models. In this study, we introduce and evaluate a novel extractive text summarization methodology, "SummarEyes," based on the visual interaction of the user with the text, using eye-tracking data, as opposed to the traditional approaches based on analysis of textual content only. We conducted a large-scale user study aiming to collect eye-tracking data while reading the text to be summarized. We utilized various user's implicit attention metrics to generate novel eye-tracking-based text summarization models and compared them both to eye-tracking models typically using only a single feature of the gaze duration and to traditional, as well as state-of-the-art summarization methods, based solely on textual features. The models' quality was evaluated in terms of ROUGE scores using intrinsic evaluation on the datasets we had generated, relating gaze behavior to personalized and DUC gold-standard summaries. The experimental results showed that "SummarEyes" significantly outperformed the other summarizers in predicting both the user's personalized summarization and the generic gold standard summaries. In the pharmaceutical industry, there is an abundance of regulatory documents used to understand the current regulatory landscape and proactively make project decisions. Due to the size of these documents, it is helpful for project teams to have informative summaries. We propose a novel solution, MedicoVerse, to summarize such documents using advanced machine learning techniques. MedicoVerse uses a multi-stage approach, combining word embeddings using the SapBERT model on regulatory documents. These embeddings are put through a critical hierarchical agglomerative clustering step, and the clusters are organized through a custom data structure. Each cluster is summarized using the bart-large-cnn-samsum model, and each summary is merged to create a comprehensive summary of the original document. We compare MedicoVerse results with established models T5, Google Pegasus, Facebook BART, and large language models such as Mixtral 8 × 7b instruct, GPT 3.5, and Llama-2-70b by introducing a scoring system that considers four factors: ROUGE score, BERTScore, business entities and the Flesch Reading Ease. A vast amount of textual information on the internet has amplified the importance of text summarization models. Abstractive summarization generates original words and sentences that may not exist in the source document to be summarized. Such abstractive models may suffer from shortcomings such as linguistic acceptability and hallucinations. Recall-Oriented Understudy for Gisting Evaluation (ROUGE) is a metric commonly used to evaluate abstractive summarization models. However, due to its n-gram-based approach, it ignores several critical linguistic aspects. In this work, we propose Similarity, Entailment, and Acceptability Score (SEAScore), an automatic evaluation metric for evaluating abstractive text summarization models using the power of state-of-the-art pre-trained language models. SEAScore comprises three language models (LMs) that extract meaningful linguistic features from candidate and reference summaries and a weighted sum aggregator that computes an evaluation score. Data augmentation in Natural Language Processing (NLP) faces various challenges that hinder its widespread adoption, unlike its ever-present usage in the field of vision. It is even more the case for the text summarization task where one should focus on both article and summary. In this paper, we review the effect of back translation augmentation, present the diverse beam search decoding strategy, and masking as a method to generate synthetic data for text summarization. The approaches will be evaluated by ROUGE score, novelty, summary length, and GPT-4 to analyze their effectiveness. Our proposed framework presents multiple combinations of back translation and masking for articles, along with diverse augmentation for summaries. Although applicable to networks of any size, we decided to use BART-large, a relatively smaller model, in order to conduct a larger number of experiments. The experiments demonstrated superior performance across all specified metrics when compared to fine-tuning BART-large on the CNN/Dailymail dataset. Specifically, we showed a significant improvement in novelty; 158% and 56% increase rate for bigrams and unigrams, respectively. It could eliminate some copyright concerns around generating content similar to human writing. Additionally, the GPT-4 assessment indicates that models trained using the augmentation technique tend to capture important information more effectively than the baseline model. Identifying and extracting valuable information from textual documents in the form of cohesively and appropriately developed summaries is one of the most challenging tasks in text mining and natural language processing. In this article, we present a sequential Markov model, equipped with Bayesian inference, to estimate the degree of importance of sentences in a document and thereby address the text summarisation problem. The proposed methodology models the extractive sentence summarisation as a Bayesian state estimation problem, where the system state is the importance degree of each sentence in a document. The transition and observation models are derived using a nonlinear dynamical system identification based on a recurrent feedback neural model that predicts the sentence observation using the sentence input data. In the end, the transition and observation probability density functions are modelled using a mixture density network. The performance assessment of the system has been carried out by investigating the optimal feature dimensionality and the impact of the model parameters on the system accuracy, using entropy-based risk and loss-based risk measures. Finally, the superiority of the proposed methodology over the state of the art in extractive summarisation is discussed and verified by reporting the recall, precision and accuracy on the real-world benchmark data sets. Automatic detection of prerequisite relations between concepts in education has always been a challenging AI task for researchers. Identification of prerequisite relations enables students to study new subjects more effectively and systematically, while allowing instructors to better tailor their learning materials to students' needs. However, to accurately detect these relations, the AI system must understand the context and meaning behind each concept and how it relates to other concepts in the domain. This requires a deep understanding of the educational curriculum and the ability to analyze large amounts of text and data. Large language models (LLMs) are a recent innovation in AI. LLMs have the capability to understand and generate human-like text since they are trained on a vast amount of text from the internet, books, articles, and more. LLMs can also be fine-tuned to specialize in tasks such as document summarization, question answering, or detecting user sentiment in reviews. Fine-tuning is done with a smaller, task-specific dataset. In this work, we introduce strategies for fine-tuning LLMs to improve their capability to detect prerequisite relations between educational concepts. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work that utilizes fine-tuned LLMs for prerequisite detection. Our evaluation results demonstrate that fine-tuned LLMs are effective models for prerequisite detection. Our fine-tuning process also facilitates the generation of explanations to shed light on the reasoning behind prerequisite relations. Datasets we generated and used in fine-tuning are made public for the research community. The object of the research is the task of automatic abstracting of natural language texts. The importance of these tasks is determined by the existing problem of creating essays that would adequately reflect the content of the original text and highlight key information. This task requires the ability of models to deeply analyze the context of the text, which complicates the abstracting process. Results are presented that demonstrate the effectiveness of using generative models based on neural networks, text semantic analysis methods, and deep learning for automatic creation of abstracts. The use of models showed a high level of adequacy and informativeness of abstracts. GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) generates text that looks like it was written by a human, which makes it useful for automatic essay generation. For example, the GPT model generates abbreviated summaries based on input text, while the BERT model is used for summarizing texts in many areas, including search engines and natural language processing. This allows for short but informative abstracts that retain the essential content of the original and provides the ability to produce high-quality abstracts that can be used for abstracting web pages, emails, social media, and other content. Compared to traditional abstracting methods, artificial intelligence provides such advantages as greater accuracy, informativeness and the ability to process large volumes of text more efficiently, which facilitates access to information and improves productivity in text processing. The most recent and precise biological and healthcare knowledge is critical in the current outbreak such as COVID. In today's small world, everyone needs timely and appropriate medical information to prevent contagious diseases. Extraction of important information from medical conversations and dissemination to patients and doctors may benefit in the treatments of doctor tiredness and patient amnesia. Problem: Automatic text summarizing is essential for gaining great knowledge in any topic in an efficient and productive manner. The material included in health records is vital to our understanding of kind illness and its manifestations. Creating a comprehensive and standard kind of content is becoming an unavoidable and crucial problem in the medical process as a result of the massive amounts of fragmented data created in many sectors. Approach: The purpose of this study is to employ NLP‐based deep learning algorithms for text summary that perform well on linguistic text summarization data, and then modify/adapt these for biomedical domain‐specific text summarization. This paper provides an approach developed in‐house for condensing ill‐punctuated or unpunctuated discussion transcripts into more intelligible summaries, which combines topic modelling and phrase selection with punctuation restorations. For autonomous synthesis of medical reports from biomedical transcripts, this research proposes using an end‐to‐end summarization technique, Deep Dense Long Short Term Memory Network (LSTM), followed by Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). Results: Extensive testing, examination, and comparing have demonstrated that this summarizer works well for medical transcript summarization. The suggested approach achieved an average ROUGE score of 93.5% using a single document summary. Furthermore, by comparing new techniques to previous ones, the utility and accuracy of novel strategies would be shown. The rapid growth of the internet and computing devices significantly increases the rise of the quantity of information. The major technique which is utilized to lower the limit of information quantity is ATS. By this technique, the text documents are precisely summarized within a short time as per user requirements. However, its effectiveness is limited due to various issues like subject identification, elucidation, summary generation and analysis of the generated summary. To tackle these issues and to obtain precise and concise summarized text, this proposed approach results as the efficient multi-document summarization approach by focusing on those issues. This proposed approach is incorporated with preprocessing, feature extraction, knowledge extraction and summarization processes. Initially, preprocessing is done by BERT tokenization and it results in preprocessed tokens from multiple documents. The features extracted from preprocessed tokens are the proposed aspect term feature, TF-IDF feature, Word2Vec feature and average word length feature. After, relevant features are extracted from the preprocessed token to train modified CNN in the feature extraction process. Instantaneously, the preprocessed tokens are employed in the knowledge extraction process for extracting essential knowledge to improve the training ability of modified CNN. This modified CNN is trained with the obtained weight, extracted feature set and knowledge to obtain precise and concise summarized text from multiple documents. Thus, the final summarized outcome has been from modified CNN with transfer learning (MCNN-TL). Automatic text summarisation is obtaining a subset that accurately represents the main text. A quality summary should contain the maximum amount of information while avoiding redundant information. Redundancy is a severe deficiency that causes unnecessary repetition of information within sentences and should not occur in summarisation studies. Although many optimisation-based text summarisation methods have been proposed in recent years, there exists a lack of research on the simultaneous optimisation of scope and redundancy. In this context, this study presents an approach in which maximum coverage and minimum redundancy, which form the two key features of a rich summary, are modelled as optimisation targets. In optimisation-based text summarisation studies, different conflicting objectives are generally weighted or formulated and transformed into single-objective problems. However, this transformation can directly affect the quality of the solution. In this study, the optimisation goals are met simultaneously without transformation or formulation. In addition, the multi-objective saplings growing-up algorithm (MO-SGuA) is implemented and modified for text summarisation. The presented approach, called Pareto optimal, achieves an optimal solution with simultaneous optimisation. Experimentation with the MO-SGuA method was tested using open-access (document understanding conference; DUC) data sets. Performance success of the MO-SGuA approach was calculated using the recall-oriented understudy for gisting evaluation (ROUGE) metrics and then compared with the competitive practices used in the literature. Testing achieved a 26.6% summarisation result for the ROUGE-2 metric and 65.96% for ROUGE-L, which represents an improvement of 11.17% and 20.54%, respectively. Question‐driven automatic text summarization is a popular technique to produce concise and informative answers to specific questions using a document collection. Both query‐based and question‐driven summarization may not produce reliable summaries nor contain relevant information if they do not take advantage of extractive and abstractive summarization mechanisms to improve performance. In this article, we propose a novel extractive and abstractive hybrid framework designed for question‐driven automatic text summarization. The framework consists of complimentary modules that work together to generate an effective summary: (1) discovering appropriate non‐redundant sentences as plausible answers using an open‐domain multi‐hop question answering system based on a convolutional neural network, multi‐head attention mechanism and reasoning process; and (2) a novel paraphrasing generative adversarial network model based on transformers rewrites the extracted sentences in an abstractive setup. Experiments show this framework results in more reliable abstractive summary than competing methods. We have performed extensive experiments on public datasets, and the results show our model can outperform many question‐driven and query‐based baseline methods (an R1, R2, RL increase of 6%–7% for over the next highest baseline). The number of scientific publications nowadays is rapidly increasing, causing information overload for researchers and making it hard for scholars to keep up to date with current trends and lines of work. Recent work has tried to address this problem by developing methods for automated summarization in the scholarly domain, but concentrated so far only on monolingual settings, primarily English. In this paper, we consequently explore how state-of-the-art neural abstract summarization models based on a multilingual encoder–decoder architecture can be used to enable cross-lingual extreme summaries of scholarly texts. To this end, we compile a new abstractive cross-lingual summarization dataset for the scholarly domain in four different languages, which enables us to train and evaluate models that process English papers and generate summaries in German, Italian, Chinese and Japanese. We present our new X-SCITLDR dataset for multilingual summarization and thoroughly benchmark different models based on a state-of-the-art multilingual pre-trained model, including a two-stage pipeline approach that independently summarizes and translates, as well as a direct cross-lingual model. We additionally explore the benefits of intermediate-stage training using English monolingual summarization and machine translation as intermediate tasks and analyze performance in zero- and few-shot scenarios. Finally, we investigate how to make our approach more efficient on the basis of knowledge distillation methods, which make it possible to shrink the size of our models, so as to reduce the computational complexity of the summarization inference. Recently, the widespread use of social media and easy access to the Internet have brought about a significant transformation in the type of textual data available on the Web. This change is particularly evident in Arabic language usage, as the growing number of users from diverse domains has led to a considerable influx of Arabic text in various dialects, each characterized by differences in morphology, syntax, vocabulary, and pronunciation. Consequently, researchers in language recognition and natural language processing have become increasingly interested in identifying Arabic dialects. Numerous methods have been proposed to recognize this informal data, owing to its crucial implications for several applications, such as sentiment analysis, topic modeling, text summarization, and machine translation. However, Arabic dialect identification is a significant challenge due to the vast diversity of the Arabic language in its dialects. This study introduces a novel hybrid machine and deep learning model, incorporating an attention mechanism for detecting and classifying Arabic dialects. Several experiments were conducted using a novel dataset that collected information from user-generated comments from Twitter of Arabic dialects, namely, Egyptian, Gulf, Jordanian, and Yemeni, to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed model. The dataset comprises 34,905 rows extracted from Twitter, representing an unbalanced data distribution. The data annotation was performed by native speakers proficient in each dialect. The results demonstrate that the proposed model outperforms the performance of long short-term memory, bidirectional long short-term memory, and logistic regression models in dialect classification using different word representations as follows: term frequency-inverse document frequency, Word2Vec, and global vector for word representation. The widespread use of the internet today, along with the rapidly increasing information, has brought along great information pollution. it has become a big problem for internet users to obtain meaningful data from this large and noisy data. Text summarization, which is generally used on texts obtained from digital media, has also been used for summarizing scientific articles in different fields. in this study, a scientific text summary study was carried out to be used on Turkish articles written in the field of informatics. A large Turkish Informatics Literature dataset was created with the articles collected from Dergipark. in addition to the text pre-processing studies available in the literature on this dataset, a new original pre-processing function has been developed by the scientific article format. While summarizing, Deep Belief Networks (DBN), which has an increasing use in the field of natural language processing in the literature, has been used. To measure the performance of the developed system, reference summaries were created with the BERT algorithm, which is a pre-trained natural language processing model. After the scientific articles were summarized with BERT and Deep Belief Networks, the abstracts were compared with BERT Score and BART Score, a specialized comparison metric of the BERT Model. The results showed that the developed Turkish informatics Literature Summarization Method constitutes a summary of a scientific article with 0.78 F-Score and 0.68 BART Score in the BERT Score metric. Automatic Text Summarization (ATS) is gaining popularity as there is a growing demand for a system capable of processing extensive textual content and delivering a concise, yet meaningful, relevant, and useful summary. Manual summarization is both expensive and time-consuming, making it impractical for humans to handle vast amounts of data. Consequently, the need for ATS systems has become evident. These systems encounter challenges such as ensuring comprehensive content coverage, determining the appropriate length of the summary, addressing redundancy, and maintaining coherence in the generated summary. Researchers are actively addressing these challenges by employing Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques. While traditional methods exist for generating summaries, they often fall short of addressing multiple aspects simultaneously. To overcome this limitation, recent advancements have introduced multi-objective evolutionary algorithms for ATS. This study proposes an enhancement to the performance of ATS through the utilization of an improved version of the Binary Multi-Objective Grey Wolf Optimizer (BMOGWO), incorporating mutation. The performance of this enhanced algorithm is assessed by comparing it with state-of-the-art algorithms using the DUC2002 dataset. This study presents a pioneering approach that leverages advanced sensing technologies and data processing techniques to enhance the process of clinical documentation generation during medical consultations. By employing sophisticated sensors to capture and interpret various cues such as speech patterns, intonations, or pauses, the system aims to accurately perceive and understand patient–doctor interactions in real time. This sensing capability allows for the automation of transcription and summarization tasks, facilitating the creation of concise and informative clinical documents. Through the integration of automatic speech recognition sensors, spoken dialogue is seamlessly converted into text, enabling efficient data capture. Additionally, deep models such as Transformer models are utilized to extract and analyze crucial information from the dialogue, ensuring that the generated summaries encapsulate the essence of the consultations accurately. Despite encountering challenges during development, experimentation with these sensing technologies has yielded promising results. The system achieved a maximum ROUGE-1 metric score of 0.57, demonstrating its effectiveness in summarizing complex medical discussions. This sensor-based approach aims to alleviate the administrative burden on healthcare professionals by automating documentation tasks and safeguarding important patient information. The explosive growth of dialogue data has aroused significant interest among scholars in abstractive dialogue summarization. In this paper, we propose a novel sequence-to-sequence framework called DS-SS (Dialogue Summarization with Factual-Statement Fusion and Dialogue Segmentation) for summarizing dialogues. The novelty of the DS-SS framework mainly lies in two aspects: 1) Factual statements are extracted from the source dialogue and combined with the source dialogue to perform the further dialogue encoding; and 2) A dialogue segmenter is trained and used to separate a dialogue to be encoded into several topic-coherent segments. Thanks to these two aspects, the proposed framework may better encode dialogues, thereby generating summaries exhibiting higher factual consistency and informativeness. Experimental results on two large-scale datasets SAMSum and DialogSum demonstrate the superiority of our framework over strong baselines, as evidenced by both automatic evaluation metrics and human evaluation. Document summarization is the task of generating a shorter form of document with important information content. Automatic text summarization has been developed for this process and is still widely used. It is divided into two main parts as extractive summarization and abstractive summarization. In this study, we used sentence ranking methods for extractive summarization for Turkish news text within the scope of the experimental study. We used different summarization rates, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% and 60%. Summarization results were evaluated with the ROUGE ve BLEU metrics. We proposed new methods based on major vowel harmony and minor vowel harmony features. We obtained high evaluation results in both ROUGE ve BLEU metrics with major vowel harmony and minor vowel harmony features. Additionally, we studied a hybrid model using major vowel harmony and minor vowel harmony rules together. We obtained the best results with major vowel harmony, minor vowel harmony, and hybrid model (major vowel harmony and minor vowel harmony together). We compared the three proposed methods with the BERTurk model prepared for Turkish based on Google BERT. Purpose: The conclusion section of a radiology report is crucial for summarizing the primary radiological findings in natural language and essential for communicating results to clinicians. However, creating these summaries is time-consuming, repetitive, and prone to variability and errors among different radiologists. To address these issues, we evaluated a fine-tuned Text-To-Text Transfer Transformer (T5) model for abstractive summarization to automatically generate conclusions for neuroradiology MRI reports in a low-resource language. Methods: We retrospectively applied our method to a dataset of 232,425 neuroradiology MRI reports in Spanish. We compared various pre-trained T5 models, including multilingual T5 and those newly adapted for Spanish. For precise evaluation, we employed BLEU, METEOR, ROUGE-L, CIDEr, and cosine similarity metrics alongside expert radiologist assessments. Results: The findings are promising, with the models specifically fine-tuned for neuroradiology MRI achieving scores of 0.46, 0.28, 0.52, 2.45, and 0.87 in the BLEU-1, METEOR, ROUGE-L, CIDEr, and cosine similarity metrics, respectively. In the radiological experts' evaluation, they found that in 75% of the cases evaluated, the conclusions generated by the system were as good as or even better than the manually generated conclusions. The aim of the work is to prove the possibility of determining the representativeness of a corpus for training a neural model before conducting resource-intensive experiments. In this work, we investigated the dependence of the summarization model on the number of word stems in it. The work was carried out on a synthetic summarization dataset for the Kazakh language. Taking the number of word stems as the representativeness metric, an analysis of the quality of the work of three summarization models was performed depending on the number of word stems in the training dataset. These training datasets differ in the number of rows. To obtain these datasets, we split the training dataset into three parts of different sizes. On the test files, BLEU scores were obtained for each model during the inference process. The highest BLEU scores are obtained for the model trained on the largest amount of data. When the train dataset was reduced by 50 percent, the score decreased from 4 to 25. On the smallest dataset, the score dropped from 25 to 31. The experimental part of the work showed that the model with the largest number of stems shows the highest BLEU score. In this survey, we begin with a review of fashionable text summarization tasks in recent years, including extractive, abstractive, multi-document, and so on. Next, we discuss most deep learning-based models and their experimental results on these tasks. The paper also covers datasets and data representation for summarization tasks. Finally, we delve into the opportunities and challenges associated with summarization tasks and their corresponding methodologies, aiming to inspire future research efforts to advance the field further. A goal of our survey is to explain how these methods differ in their requirements as understanding them is essential for choosing a technique suited for a specific setting. Pretrained models in abstractive summarization enable the summarization model to generate coherent summaries flexibly, but it also introduces unfactual hallucinations when generating novel words. To circumvent this drawback, we propose A Guided Tensor Product framework for abstractive Summarization (GTPSum). GTPSum utilizes highlighted sentence guidance signal and role embedding in the form of guided tensor product representations (GTPRs) to enhance the generation capacity for short document text. The guidance signal assists the model in focusing on crucial information, while the role embedding aids GTPSum in capturing the syntactic structure relationships present in the sentences. By employing this approach, the framework can not only focus on the essential information from the source document but also grasp the inherent sentence structure, resulting in generated summaries that closely align with the original content. The experimental results demonstrate the strong performance of our approach on the CNN/Daily Mail (44.28/20.88/41.08 ROUGE-1/-2/-L) and performed well on the other three datasets. Moreover, the comparison between our model generated summaries and those generated by the baseline models through human evaluation shows that our summaries contain more critical information, have better readability, and still maintain succinctness. When it comes to text summaries, the most difficult problem is to provide broad topic coverage and diversity in a single summary. The proposed model involves three stages namely pre-processing, Extractive summarization, and summary generation. In the first Phase, the Text similarity dataset is pre-processed using Lowering Casing, Tokenization, Lemmatization, and, Stop Word Removal. In the second Phase, the Extractive summarization is done in three steps Generating similarity metrics, Sentence Ranking, and Sentence Extractive. In the third stage, a generative adversarial network (GAN) employs summary generation to jointly train the discriminative model D and the generative model G. To classify texts and annotate their syntax, Generative Model G employs a convolutional neural network called Bidirectional Gated Recursive Unit (CNN-BiGRU). The performance analysis of the proposed MGAN is calculated based on the parameters like accuracy, specificity, Recall, and Precision metrics. The proposed MGAN achieves an accuracy range of 99%. Automatic text summarization is the task of creating concise and fluent summaries without human intervention while preserving the meaning of the original text document. To increase the readability of the languages, a summary should be generated. In this paper, a novel Nesterov-accelerated Adaptive Moment Estimation Optimization based on Long Short-Term Memory [NADAM-LSTM] has been proposed to summarize the text. The proposed NADAM-LSTM model involves three stages namely pre-processing, summary generation, and parameter tuning. Initially, the Giga word Corpus dataset is pre-processed using Tokenization, Word Removal, Stemming, Lemmatization, and Normalization for removing irrelevant data. In the summary generation phase, the text is converted to the word-to-vector method. Further, the text is fed to LSTM to summarize the text. The parameter of the LSTM is then tuned using NADAM Optimization. The performance analysis of the proposed NADAM-LSTM is calculated based on parameters like accuracy, specificity, Recall, Precision, and F1 score. The suggested NADAM-LSTM achieves an accuracy range of 99.5%. In this digital era, there is a tremendous increase in the volume of data, which adds difficulties to the person who utilizes particular applications, such as websites, email, and news. Text summarization targets to reduce the complexity of obtaining statistics from the websites as it compresses the textual document to a short summary without affecting the relevant information. The crucial step in multi-document summarization is obtaining a relationship between the cross-sentence. However, the conventional methods fail to determine the inter-sentence relationship, especially in long documents. This research develops a graph-based neural network to attain an inter-sentence relationship. The significant step in the proposed multi-document text summarization model is forming the weighted graph embedding features. Furthermore, the weighted graph embedding features are utilized to evaluate the relationship between the document's words and sentences. Finally, the bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) classifier is utilized to summarize the multi-document text summarization. The experimental analysis uses the three standard datasets, the Daily Mail dataset, Document Understanding Conference (DUC) 2002, and Document Understanding Conference (DUC) 2004 dataset. The experimental outcome demonstrates that the proposed weighted graph embedding feature + BiLSTM model exceeds all the conventional methods with Precision, Recall, and F1 score of 0.5352, 0.6296, and 0.5429, respectively. Two of the most crucial issues for text summarization to generate faithful summaries are to make use of knowledge beyond text and to make use of cross-sentence relations in text. Intuitive ways for the two issues are knowledge graph (KG) and graph neural network (GNN), respectively. Entities are semantic units in text and in KG. This paper focuses on both issues by leveraging entities mentioned in text to connect GNN and KG for summarization. Firstly, entities are leveraged to construct a sentence-entity graph with weighted multi-type edges to model sentence relations, and a relational heterogeneous GNN for summarization is proposed to calculate node encodings. Secondly, entities are leveraged to link the graph to KG to collect knowledge. Thirdly, entities guide a two-step summarization framework defining a multitask selector to select salient sentences and entities, and using an entity-focused abstractor to compress the sentences. GNN is connected with KG by constructing sentence-entity graphs where entity–entity edges are built based on KG, initializing entity embeddings on KG, and training entity embeddings using entity–entity edges. The relational heterogeneous GNN utilizes both edge weights and edge types in GNN to calculate graphs with weighted multi-type edges. Experiments show the proposed method outperforms extractive baselines including the HGNN-based HGNNSum and abstractive baselines including the entity-driven SENECA on CNN/DM, and outperforms most baselines on NYT50. Experiments on sub-datasets show the density of sentence-entity edges greatly influences the performance of the proposed method. The greater the density, the better the performance. The biomedical field specialists often face difficulties in summarization of available online literature. The biomedical archives like PubMed contain large set of lengthy documents, which needs to be shortened for further analysis of relevant data. In this work, we have introduced Similarity-specific Teaching and Learning-based optimization (Sim-TLBO) framework, which is combined with controlled stochastic selection of most relevant sentences for effective summarization. This method of utilizing metaheuristic teaching–learning approach along with multiple objective functions analysis provided an agile and robust solution. The output summary from the proposed solution is evaluated and compared based on ROUGE performance and various objective parameters including cohesion, non-redundancy, coverage, and readability. The hybrid text similarity (HTS) based on BERT similarity technique resulted in optimum ROUGE-1 values of 0.82 and 0.79 at 50% and 30% compression rates, respectively. This paper presents a query-based extractive text summarization approach by using sense-oriented semantic relatedness measure. To find the query relevant sentences, we have to find semantic relatedness measure between query and input text sentences. To find the relatedness score, we need to know the exact sense of the words present in query and input text sentences. Word sense disambiguation (WSD) finds the actual meaning of a word according to its context of the sentence. We have proposed a WSD technique to extract query relevant sentences which is used to find a sense-oriented sentence semantic relatedness score between the query and input text sentence. Here, a feature-based method is presented to find semantic relatedness score between query and input text sentence. Finally the proposed query-based text summary method uses relevant and redundancy-free features to form cluster. There is a high probability that same featured cluster may contain redundant sentences. Therefore, a redundancy removal method is proposed to get redundancy-free sentences. In the end, redundancy-free query relevant sentences are obtained with an information rich summary. We have evaluated our proposed WSD technique with other existing methods by using Senseval and SemEval datasets and proposed Sense-Oriented Sentence Semantic Relatedness Score by using Li et al. dataset. We compare our proposed query-based extractive text summarization method with other methods participated in Document Understanding Conference and as well as with current methods. Fine-tuning a pre-trained sequence-to-sequence-based language model has significantly advanced the field of abstractive summarization. However, the early models of abstractive summarization were limited by the gap between training and inference, and they did not fully utilize the potential of the language model. Recent studies have introduced a two-stage framework that allows the second-stage model to re-rank the candidate summary generated by the first-stage model, to resolve these limitations. In this study, we point out that the supervision method performed in the existing re-ranking model of the two-stage abstractive summarization framework cannot learn detailed and complex information of the data. In addition, we present the problem of positional bias in the existing encoder–decoder-based re-ranking model. To address these two limitations, this study proposes a hierarchical supervision method that jointly performs summary and sentence-level supervision. For sentence-level supervision, we designed two sentence-level loss functions: intra- and inter-intra-sentence ranking losses. Compared to the existing abstractive summarization model, the proposed method exhibited a performance improvement for both the CNN/DM and XSum datasets. The purpose of government news summarization is to extract the most important information from official government news reports. It is important for readers to be able to understand government news quickly in the age of information overload. Compared with other types of news, government news reports have more detailed content and possess a more normative format, resulting in greater length. To resolve the contradiction between the length of these reports and the trend of fragmented reading, this research proposes an automatic text summarization model based on multiple features. First, the features are extracted using the TF–IDF algorithm and word vector embedding method based on the bidirectional encoder representation from the transformers model. Second, we score the sentences based on the position, keywords, and similarity features. Finally, the top-ranked sentence is selected to form the summarization. To verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method, Edmundson and ROUGE were adopted. First, based on the Edmundson evaluation criteria, the summarization results of various methods were scored. The score differences between ATS summarization based on the proposed method and manual summarization were minimal across consistency, grammaticality, time sequence, conciseness, and readability, with values of 0.14, 0.18, 0.12, 0.10, and 0.16, respectively. This suggests that our summarization exhibits the highest similarity to manual summarization. Second, we evaluated the summarization results using the ROUGE evaluation criteria. The results indicate that the proposed method achieved significantly higher scores compared to other models. Specifically, for character-level ROUGE-1, the P, R, and F scores reached 0.84, 0.93, and 0.88, respectively. At the word-level ROUGE-1, the P, R, and F scores were 0.81, 0.89, and 0.85, respectively, which demonstrates a noticeable improvement over other models. Text summarization (TS) plays a crucial role in natural language processing (NLP) by automatically condensing and capturing key information from text documents. Its significance extends to diverse fields, including engineering, healthcare, and others, where it offers substantial time and resource savings. However, manual summarization is a laborious task, prompting the need for automated text summarization systems. In this paper, we propose a novel strategy for extractive summarization that leverages a generative adversarial network (GAN)-based method and Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) word embedding. BERT, a transformer-based architecture, processes sentence bidirectionally, considering both preceding and following words. This contextual understanding empowers BERT to generate word representations that carry a deeper meaning and accurately reflect their usage within specific contexts. Our method adopts a generator and discriminator within the GAN framework. The generator assesses the likelihood of each sentence in the summary while the discriminator evaluates the generated summary. To extract meaningful features in parallel, we introduce three dilated convolution layers in the generator and discriminator. Dilated convolution allows for capturing a larger context and incorporating long-range dependencies. By introducing gaps between filter weights, dilated convolution expands the receptive field, enabling the model to consider a broader context of words. To encourage the generator to explore diverse sentence combinations that lead to high-quality summaries, we introduce various noises to each document within our proposed GAN. This approach allows the generator to learn from a range of sentence permutations and select the most suitable ones. We evaluate the performance of our proposed model using the CNN/Daily Mail dataset. The results, measured using the ROUGE metric, demonstrate the superiority of our approach compared to other tested methods. This confirms the effectiveness of our GAN-based strategy, which integrates dilated convolution layers, BERT word embedding, and a generator-discriminator framework in achieving enhanced extractive summarization performance. Recently, large pretrained language models (PLMs) have led a revolution in the information retrieval community. In most PLMs‐based retrieval frameworks, the ranking performance broadly depends on the model structure and the semantic complexity of the input text. Sequence‐to‐sequence generative models for question answering or text generation have proven to be competitive, so we wonder whether these models can improve ranking effectiveness by enhancing input semantics. This article introduces SE‐BERT, a semantically enhanced bidirectional encoder representation from transformers (BERT) based ranking framework that captures more semantic information by modifying the input text. SE‐BERT utilizes a pretrained generative language model to summarize both sides of the candidate passage and concatenate them into a new input sequence, allowing BERT to acquire more semantic information within the constraints of the input sequence's length.
