This work presents the design, synthesis, and characterization of a new cobalt (II) based coordination architecture, {[Co(toua)(4,4′-bpy)].2H 2 O} n (1); where toua is 3,6,9-trioxaundecanaote and 4,4′-bpy is 4,4′-bipyridine tailored for efficient sensing of ammonia and amines. The formation and identity of 1 was confirmed by elemental analysis, spectroscopic study (FTIR and UV–visible spectroscopy), PXRD, XPS, FESEM, and BET analysis. The colorimetric sensing capability of 1 towards ammonia and various smaller-sized amines in the vapor phase through observable color changes is explored in this study. Their interaction with 1 is elucidated through FTIR, UV–Visible and Fluorescence spectroscopy, FESEM, and TCSPC analysis. The fluorescence sensing experiments demonstrate a remarkable quenching/enhancement effect with the addition of ammonia and various amines, showcasing the compound's sensitivity and selectivity. The quenching/enhancement efficiency follows the order: NH 3 >Ethylenediamine (EDA)>1,3-diaminopropane (DAP)>n-propylethylenediamine (n-PEDA), following the molecular dimensions and steric hindrance surrounding nitrogen atoms. Hydrogen bonds and host-guest interactions, including (C–H)pyridinium⋅⋅⋅N interactions, are identified as the driving forces for the sensing process. Additionally, the paper reveals a rare occurrence of both "turn-off" and "turn-on" sensing behavior for the same compound, showcasing its versatility. The calculated RSD for the fluorometric sensor was found to be 1.03 % calculated from its triplicate readings at 240 nm. Limits of detection (LODs) and Limit of Quantification (LOQs) for NH 3 (0.52 μM, and 1.74 μM) EDA (1.2 μM, and 4.2 μM), DAP (3.1 μM, and 10.5 μM), and n-PEDA (3.3 μM, and 11.2 μM) respectively) underscore the effective sensing capabilities of 1. The robustness of 1 upon exposure to amines was confirmed by PXRD. These findings justify that 1 is a promising vaporchromic probe for the fast and selective detection of ammonia and amines. The investigation of dihydrazone Schiff base ligands as potential and appropriate chemosensors for fast, simple and portable detection of Cd(II) ion is reported. Finding suitable probes for the rapid and sensitive detection of highly toxic pollutants is an urgent challenge for our environment. In this paper, three Schiff base ligands (H 2 L1 = 2 , 6-diacetylpyridine bis(isonicotinoylhydrazone), H 2 L2 = 2 , 6-diacetylpyridine bis(nicotinoylhydrazone) and H 2 L3 = 2 , 6-diacetylpyridine bis(picolinoylhydrazone)) have been used as potential chemosensors for Cd2+ detection. The corresponding Cd(II) complexes were prepared and it was found that the chemosensors coordinate similarly to the Cd2+ ion, eventually exhibiting different photoluminescent responses. Coordination of H 2 L1 and H 2 L2 to the Cd(II) ion results in a "turn-off" photoluminescence, while coordination of H 2 L3 show an excellent example of a "turn-on" mode of photoluminescence. Nanozyme based sensors have evolved as an equable and productive approach for detecting obnoxious metal ions in water samples. A coherent and methodical outlook for nanozymatic sensors is provided in this work. A Co(II) based coordination polymer [Co(L) 1.5 (ac) 3 ] n named Co-CP, (L = N, N-(benzo-3,8-phenanthroline-2,7-diyl)diisonicotinamide and ac = CH 3 COO–) has been synthesized in this paper. Co(II) based coordination polymer nanoparticles (Co-CP NPs) constructed by using hand grinding process stimulates the nanozymatic action due to increased surface area and exposure of catalytically active sites. The fabricated Co-CP NPs were characterized using various sophisticated analytical techniques such as SCXRD, HRTEM, FESEM, PXRD etc. The NPs thus formed were about 27 nm in size and pertain porous sites. The Co-CP NPs exhibited peroxido-reductase mimicking activity for TMB(3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine) oxidation. The catalytic action of the Co-CP NPs was utilized to detect Fe(II) ion selectively with a detection limit of 0.66 µM. The kinetics for the study were described using Michaelis-Menten curve. The K m and V max values for H 2 O 2 and Co-CP NPs were analyzed further to access the catalytic action of Co-CP NPs. XPS and zeta potential analysis were evidenced to elucidate the detection mechanism. The compatibility and practicality of the present method was also assured by actual water samples from different sources that showed good recovery percentage. In recent decades, 2-D nanomaterials (NMs) have forged the future of nanotechnological advancements in polymer nanocomposites and applications. Graphene (GN) has exhibited superiority amongst these NMs. However, the gapless disposition of GN restrains its applications, thereby instigating researchers to investigate possibilities of newer 2-D NMs. This has informed the emergence of newer 2-D NMs like MXene and most recently Phosphorene (P-N), which exhibit similar attributes with GN but with a more appropriate band gap. P-Nis an emerging 2-D NM, exhibiting reactivity, electronic structures, as well as band gap capable of varying in accordance with configurations, surfacial defects, variation of layers and doping. The functionalization of P-N has been achieved using varying strategies which have achieved sensitivity and stability and capable of being by varied using varying different passivation techniques, including doping as well as composite fabrication through inclusion with polymers, metallic oxides, metal − organic frameworks, noble metallic entities and so on. In this work are explored opportunities for supramolecular and coordination chemistry that arise from a combination of a phosphonic functional group with tetrahedrally-shaped aromatic units: tetraphenylmethane (TPM) and tetraphenylsilane (TPSi). To provide a complete overview of TPM and TPSi-based tetraphosphonate materials, this paper has been divided into three distinct parts. In the first part are brought together and evaluated most convenient synthetic methods that can be employed for the preparation of TPM and TPSi aromatic scaffolds and of their corresponding tetrabromo derivatives (TPM-Br 4 and TPSi-Br 4 ). Further, possible routes to tetrakis(4-phosphonophenyl)methane (TPPM) and tetrakis(4-phosphonophenyl)silane (TPPSi) are discussed, with particular attention being paid to the palladium and nickel-catalyzed phosphonylation reactions. The second part of the literature survey is devoted to the overview of useful functionalities of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and coordination polymers (CPs) based on TPPM and TPPSi. This part starts with the description of various crystal engineering approaches towards the preparation of porous metal phosphonates – a rare class of materials that combines gas sorption property and exceptional thermal and chemical resistance. Next, copper(II) and zirconium phosphonates constructed from TPPSi are highlighted as robust heterogenous catalysts for cycloaddition of carbon dioxide to epoxides and epoxide ring-opening reactions. Further, TPPM-based diester CPs with cobalt(II) ions have been investigated in terms of their nonlinear optical properties, serving as models for studies of spectrally-resolved second harmonic generation (SHG) and third harmonic generation (THG). In the third, final part of this work are overviewed efforts of several research groups on the elucidation of solid-state assembly and supramolecular chemistry of TPPM and TPPSi tectons. In the Cd-CP, the adjacent [CdL 2 (H 2 O) 4 ] fragments are connected by π···π interactions between benzene rings and various H-bondings, further extending its structure to three-dimensional supermolecule network. Furthermore, Cd-CP was further converted to Eu@Cd-CP by Eu3+ doping, luminescent sensing experiments show that the Eu@Cd-CP exhibits highly sensitive and selective detection for Fe3+ with good recyclability, the quenching constant K sv reaches to 1.871 × 105 M−1 and correlation coefficient R 2 = 0.99393. Entangled coordination polymers have attracted considerable interest due to their novel structures and potential applications. In this paper, one new 2D→3D porous zinc coordination polymer {[Zn2(DPDBT)2(OBA)2](H2O)3}n (1) with parallel polycatenation was synthesized under solvothermal conditions based on 2,8-di(pyridin-4-yl)dibenzo[b,d]thiophene (DPDBT) ligand. In this paper, three CPs proton conductors, [H 0.5 (H 2 O) 3 ][Ln 3.25 (C 6 NO 2 H 5) 4 (C 6 NO 2 H 4.875) 2 (H 2 O) 19.5 (IMo 6 O 24) 2 ] (Ln = Pr3+, Nd3+, and Sm3+ named as PLP-1 , PLP-2 , PLP-3 , respectively), have been successfully synthesized. And then, CPs-based composite material (PLP-1@HGO) is further prepared to improve its water retention and water resistance of PLP-1. The AC measurement shows that the conductivity of PLP-1@HGO increases gradually with the increase of temperature, and its maximum conductivity can reach 1.44 × 10−3 S cm−1 at 353 K and 97% RH. • A simple conventional aqueous solution was adopted to prepare three isostructural 3D supramolecular framework. • The framework contained 19.5 coordination water molecules. • Without additional humidity, the conductivity of PLP-1 reached 10−3 S cm−1. • PLP-1@HGO w as prepared to increase the water stability, water retention of PLP-1 and the proton conductivity of PLP-1. Proton-conduction is one of the critical factors in diverse energy-related technologies, including fuel cells and water electrolyzers. Recently, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) or coordination polymers (CPs) and their composite materials have emerged as new type proton conductors. In this paper, three CPs proton conductors, [H 0.5 (H 2 O) 3 ][Ln 3.25 (C 6 NO 2 H 5) 4 (C 6 NO 2 H 4.875) 2 (H 2 O) 19.5 (IMo 6 O 24) 2 ] (Ln = Pr3+, Nd3+, and Sm3+ named as PLP-1 , PLP-2 , PLP-3 , respectively), have been successfully synthesized, which capture a kind of (H 2 O) 19.5 cluster in 1D channel along c axis. Much more significantly, rich hydrogen bonding nets were formed between (H 2 O) 19.5 clusters, which not only promoted the formation of 3D supramolecular structure but also provided efficient pathways for proton transfer. Alternating-current (AC) impedance measurements reveal an outstanding conductivity for PLP-1 of 2.3 × 10−3 S cm−1 at 333 K without external humidity. Additionally, CPs-based composite material (PLP-1@HGO) is further prepared to improve its water retention and water resistance of PLP-1. A novel Eu3+ ions-based metal–organic coordination polymer with a peculiar "snake-shaped" chain structure has been synthesized, which exhibits efficient light emission, excellent line response to X-rays and high structure and luminescence stability against continuous irradiation. Compound 1 gives a peculiar "snake-shaped" chain structure with the aid of π-π stacking effect of 4,4′-bipyridine auxiliary template. An efficient and stable light emission was detected under X-ray irradiation, which presents an excellent linear response to X-ray dose. Moreover, this compound demonstrates high radiation stability, illustrating its potential as a scintillator for X-ray detection. Abstract: Flexible carboxylic ligands have attracted considerable interest due to their excellent stretchable capacity and coordinative ability. In this paper, one new 2D zinc coordination polymer {[Zn(tcpob)2/3(H2O)2/3]·(H2O)2/3}n with trinuclear zinc cluster units was prepared under hydrothermal conditions based on 1,3,5-tri(4-carboxyphenoxy)benzene ligand. A supramolecular polymer is prepared by tristerpyridine ligand and metal ion Zinc coordination. When the supramolecular polymer is dissolved in acetonitrile, a metallo-gel can be obtained at a very low monomer concentration (< 1.0 wt%). Remarkably, this metallo-gel exhibits rapid self-healing ability and excellent elasticity with high recovery. Self-healing and elasticity are assiduously pursued qualities for substrate materials which are applicable in many fields such as wearable electronic devices, touch screens, and soft robotics. Up to now, the most reported self-healing and elastic gel materials were constructed by supramolecular polymers with covalent backbones. Herein, a supramolecular gel- A /Zn2+ was built based on supramolecular polymerization through terpyridine-Zn2+ coordination. Importantly, this metallo-gel exhibits the self-healing ability. In addition, a freshly prepared metallo-gel ball with a diameter of 1.0 cm could rebound back with 89.6 % recovery from free-drop which displayed excellent elasticity.
