The article discusses the author's view of differences in social welfare and achievement gaps in Denmark and the U.S. The author presents differences in socioeconomic parameters and access to education based upon racial and social factors, and suggests that Denmark should focus on head start programs and peer influence. She argues that while poverty is a cause for the achievement gap in the U.S., educational and political efforts are the cause in Denmark.
