- Abstract
This book provides an in depth overview of Neutrophilic Dermatoses, a group of diseases that includes Sweet's syndrome, pyoderma gangrenosum and subcorneal pustular dermatosis. Although there are still some gaps in the knowledge, it is now clear that their pathophysiology implies that mechanisms associated with auto-inflammation are involved, while many of these dermatoses occur in the setting of other systemic inflammatory diseases (colitis, arthritis) and of malignancies (blood malignancies, solid cancers). As such it is an important area of study within internal medicine. Neutrophilic Dermatoses represents an extensive clinical review of the group of diseases and is a critical resource for all medical professionals managing these patients, including clinicians in dermatology, gastro-enterology,, rheumatology, hematology, and internal medicine.

- Abstract
This book is a detailed review of the ‘state-of-the art'of skin lines in cutaneous surgery. Surgical literature is inundated with references to Langer's Lines, Cleavage Lines, Wrinkle Lines and Relaxed Skin Tension Lines, but this title discusses the difference between these and incisional and excisional lines biomechanically, introducing the concept of biodynamic excisional skin tension (BEST) Lines. The problem with current concepts of skin tension lines is that they seem to differ in different textbooks, and lines for surgical egress, which work in conditions of low tension, are not necessarily suitable for skin cancer surgery. Biodynamic Excisional Skin Tension Lines for Cutaneous Surgery describes skin biomechanics, the properties of collagen and elastin, lower limb skin vascularity and also maps BEST lines across the body, making it a great reference guide for plastic or dermatologic surgery worldwide. As such, it will be beneficial for anyone performing cutaneous surgery and skin cancer excisions in clinical practice, or for those planning further research into skin biomechanics to read this volume.

- Abstract
This book provides cutting-edge information on the epidemiology, etiology and pathophysiology of several prevalent occupational and environmental skin diseases (OSD/ESD), with a particular focus on skin health safety issues, risk factors, preventive measures and recent advances in the management of these diseases. It also highlights recent discoveries and developments concerning novel therapeutic agents for inflammatory OSD, especially findings that are supported by clinical data and have the potential to transform conventional prophylactic and therapeutic approaches. For example, despite their increasing prevalence, the management of allergic skin diseases is sometimes challenging, mainly due to limited treatment choices. In several countries, steroids are the only treatment used. However, in cases of contraindications, adverse effects or unsatisfactory steroidal therapies, alternative treatments are indispensable. As such, an understanding of promising anti-allergic agents enhances allergy research and could eventually lead to novel alternative therapeutic and adjuvant remedies, which are of the utmost importance. This book offers a valuable resource for researchers, graduate students and practitioners in the field of public health in general, especially those working in environmental and occupational medicine, as well as physicians.

- Abstract
This book presents new approaches for skin aging and photocarcinogenesis and topical formulations based on nanocarrier systems for skin disorders. It discusses cosmeceuticals, laser, photodynamic therapy, and melatonin-based treatments as important strategies for photoaging management. Photodynamic therapy and melatonin can be used in the photocarcinogenesis context, too. Therefore, the inclusion of this strong antioxidant in sunscreen products could be a promising approach. The book discusses topical formulations, including emulsions (conventional formulations and emulsions stabilized by solid particles), nail films, and nanocarriers used for the delivery of actives in various skin and nail diseases such as acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, fungal diseases, leishmaniasis, and skin cancer. Finally, several nanocarriers are introduced, such as lipid vesicles (ranging from the first-generation conventional liposomes to the more recent deformable vesicles), liquid crystalline nanodispersions, gelatin, and solid lipid nanoparticles. Their composition, formulation, characterization, and topical applications are also discussed. Although this is a broad topic, the most important (nano)pharmaceutical formulations are presented in the book.

- Abstract
This well-illustrated book is a comprehensive guide to the cutaneous clinical presentations of mycobacterial infections. The Mycobacterium genus includes over 170 species, nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) having been added to the obligate human pathogens such as M. tuberculosis and M. leprae. NTM are widely distributed in the environment with high isolation rates worldwide; the skin is a major target with variable clinical manifestations. A current resurgence in tuberculosis is aggravated by the synergy with human immunodeficiency virus, the breakdown of health care systems, and the rise in multidrug-resistant disease, as the incidence of leprosy remains stable, at around 250,000 new cases annually, regardless of effective antibiotic therapy. Presentations of various cutaneous infections caused by mycobacteria may be overlooked by clinicians owing the lack of familiarity with tuberculosis, leprosy, and the related NTM clinical features. This handy guide willhelp the dermatologist to spot the different clinical manifestations, make a prompt diagnosis, and apply effective treatment.

- Abstract
This book reviews skin permeation and disposition of chemical compounds. Skin is utilized as an administration site for transdermal drug delivery systems, topical drug formulations, cosmeceuticals, and cosmetics. Their usefulness is closely related to the permeation and disposition of entrapped active ingredients through and into the skin. Skin permeation, disposition, and metabolism of chemicals are first summarized in the general introduction. Then primary topical formulations are explained in the second part, “Basic Formulations Applied to Skin”. The explanation for the active compounds and formulations are of the most important parts required to fabricate these formulations. Skin absorption of chemicals is generally much lower than oral and the other mucosal absorptions, so that skin-penetration enhancement is a key issue to have good formulations topically applied. Part 3 presents “Skin Penetration Enhancement”. In addition, Part 4, “Selection of Topically Applied Chemical Candidates”, deals with selection methods of topically applied ingredients for transdermal drug delivery systems, topical drug formulations, cosmeceuticals, and cosmetics. Parts 5 and 6, “Safety Assessment of Topically Applied Compounds“ and “Experimental Methods of Skin Permeation“, respectively, show safety issues and experimental methods for topical formulations. The final part consists of comments on therapeutic and cosmetic formulations by medical doctors and pharmacists. Their comments are especially helpful for pharmaceutical and cosmetic researchers who study dermatopharmacokinetics and topical formulations. This volume is particularly useful for those working in R&D, graduate students, and educators in the area of pharmaceutics, cosmetic sciences, dermatological sciences, pharmacology, toxicology, biopharmacy, pharmacokinetics, physical pharmacy, chemical engineering, and related fields.

The book explains pretreatment evaluation and describes a wide variety of rejuvenation techniques, including the use of hyaluronic acid fillers, botulinum toxins, skin needling, chemical peels, radiofrequency, ultrasound, and fractional lasers (ablative and nonablative). Contraindications to and complications of the various treatments are clearly identified. A notable feature is the emphasis placed on the role of combined treatments and how they canwork in a complementary way to deliver optimal outcomes. The integrated, less invasive approach to periorbital and lip rejuvenation described here by acknowledged experts in the field will enable practitioners to choose with confidence the best aesthetic procedures and innovative tools for their patients.

- Abstract
Written for pediatric dermatologists, fellows, dermatology residents and medical students rotating in pediatric dermatology, this book covers topics ranging from atopic dermatitis, drug eruptions, neonatal inpatient dermatology, abuse, and skin signs of other systemic diseases. Inpatient Pediatric Dermatology is an emerging subspecialty of Pediatric Dermatology, yet little has been written for the practicing physician treating these young patients in the hospital. Case-based Inpatient Pediatric Dermatology fills that void and uses case-based examples to highlight common and uncommon presentations of dermatologic disease in the hospitalized pediatric patient. Complete with useful color illustrations and photographs, this book is the go-to guide for clinicians treating hospitalized pediatric dermatology patients.
