The present book contains a collection of the best papers presented at the 5th International Conference on Interacción Persona Ordenador (IPO) (which is Human Computer Interaction in Spanish), which took place in th th Lleida on May 5 -7, 2004. This conference was co-organised by the Universitat of Lleida and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. Each year this conference is promoted by the Asociación para la Interacción Persona Ordenador (AIPO), the Spanish Human Computer Interaction Association, in collaboration with the local group of ACM- SIGCHI (CHISPA). In its fifth edition this conference has become a multidisciplinary forum for the discussion and dissemination of novelty research in Human Computer Interaction. The main goals of Interacción 2004 were: To expand the conference scope with internationally recognised invited speakers. The plenary talks were presented by Alan Dix, Yvonne Rogers, Geritt van der Veer, and Angel Puerta. To open the participation to Spanish speaker worldwide in order to be a point of reference of this discipline not only in Spain but also in the wider Spanish speaking community. This goal was reached through a very diverse program which included panels and posters sessions, where many different aspect of the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) were presented. All through the program, research from outside Spain was reflected through the contributions from people of other countries.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Open Semantic Technologies for Intelligent System, OSTIS 2020, held in Minsk, Belarus, in February 2020.The 14 revised full papers and 2 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 62 submissions. The papers mainly focus on standardization of intelligent systems and cover wide research fields including knowledge representation and reasoning, semantic networks, natural language processing, temporal reasoning, probabilistic reasoning, multi-agent systems, intelligent agents.

This book constitutes the refereed post-conference proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Advances in Computer Games, ACG 2021, which was held as a virtual event during November 23–25, 2021. The 22 full papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 34 submissions. They were organized in topical sections as follows: learning in games; search in games; solving games; chess patterns; player modelling; and game systems.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the 11th International Workshops on Coordination, Organizations, Institutions and Norms in Agent Systems, COIN 2015. The workshops were co-located with AAMAS 2015, held in Istanbul, Turkey, in May 2015, and with IJCAI 2015, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in July 2015. The 23 full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 46 initial submissions for inclusion in this volume. The papers cover a wide range of topics from work on formal aspects of normative and team based systems, to software engineering with organizational concepts, to applications of COIN based systems, and to philosophical issues surrounding socio-technical systems. They highlight not only the richness of existing work in the field, but also point out the challenges and exciting research that remains to be done in the area.

This book constitutes revised selected papers from the six International Workshops on Behavior Modelling - Foundations and Applications, BM-FA, which took place annually between 2009 and 2014. The 9 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 58 papers presented at these 6 workshops. The 42 revised full papers presented together with 4 revised short papers and 8 poster descriptions were carefully reviewed and selected from 92 submissions. They cover a wide range of topics in two main tracks: combinatorial and algorithmic aspects, and visualization systems and interfaces. In addition, reports of the 19th Annual Graph Drawing Contest, which was held during the conference, and of a workshop on theory and practice of graph drawing to celebrate Professor Peter Eades'60th birthday are included in the volume.

This volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 19th International Symposium on Graph Drawing, GD 2010, held in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, during September 2011. The 34 revised full papers presented together with 3 revised short and 6 poster papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 88 submissions. Furthermore, the proceedings contain the abstracts of two invited talks and to commemorate Kozo Sugiyama and his pioneering research in graph drawing, the proceedings include an obituary. A unique and fun part of the symposium is the Graph Drawing Contest, which is part of the Graph Drawing Challenge. This year was the 18th edition. A report on the contest is included at the end of the proceedings.

This volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 18th International Symposium on Graph Drawing, GD 2010, held in Konstanz, Germany, during September 2010. The 30 revised full papers presented together with 5 revised short and 8 poster papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 77 submissions. The volume also contains a detailed report about the 17th Annual Graph Drawing Contest, held as a satellite event of GD 2010. Devoted both to theoretical advances as well as to implemented solutions, the papers are concerned with the geometric representation of graphs and networks and are motivated by those applications where it is crucial to visualize structural information as graphs.

This book contains selected and revised papers of the European Symposium on Adaptive and Learning Agents and Multi-Agent Systems (ALAMAS), editions 2005, 2006 and 2007, held in Paris, Brussels and Maastricht. The goal of the ALAMAS symposia, and this associated book, is to increase awareness and interest in adaptation and learning for single agents and mul- agent systems, and encourage collaboration between machine learning experts, softwareengineeringexperts,mathematicians,biologistsandphysicists,andgive a representative overviewof current state of a?airs in this area. It is an inclusive forum where researchers can present recent work and discuss their newest ideas for a?rst time with their peers. Thesymposiaseriesfocusesonallaspectsofadaptiveandlearningagentsand multi-agent systems, with a particular emphasis on how to modify established learning techniques and/or create new learning paradigms to address the many challenges presented by complex real-world problems. These symposia were a great success and provided a forum for the pres- tation of new ideas and results bearing on the conception of adaptation and learning for single agents and multi-agent systems. Over these three editions we received 51 submissions, of which 17 were carefully selected, including one invited paper of this year's invited speaker Simon Parsons. This is a very c- petitive acceptance rate of approximately 31%, which, together with two review cycles, has led to a high-quality LNAI volume. We hope that our readers will be inspired by the papers included in this volume.

We are proud to present the TAMODIA 2006 proceedings. In 2006, the TA- MODIA workshop celebrated its?fth anniversary. TAMODIA is an obscure acronym that stands for TAsk MOdels and DIAgrams for user interface - sign. The?rst edition of TAMODIA was organized in Bucharest (Romania) by Costin Pribeanu and Jean Vanderdonckt. The fact that?ve years later the TAMODIAseriesofworkshopsstillcontinuessuccessfullyprovestheimportance of this research area for the human–computer interaction community! The?rst workshopaimed at examining how multiple forms of task expressionscan sign- icantly increase or decrease the quality of user interface design. This is still the scope of the current edition; we tried to assemble papers that discuss how the complexity of HCI design and development can be managed with tasks, models and diagrams. Much like the previous editions, the selection of papers from the 2006 edition re?ects the broad scope of this?eld, which cannot be labeled with a single title or term. The invited paper is by Jo¨ elle Coutaz and discusses meta-user interfaces for ambient spaces. Finding appropriate ways to design and develop user interfaces for interactive spaces is becoming an important challenge for the creation of future usable applications. This exciting work gives a good feel of the new type of user interfaces and the required new approaches we are evolving toward when we want to realize the vision of ambient intelligent environments and create systems that can be used and controlled by the end-users.

As software engineering (SE) becomes specialized and fragmented, it is easy to lose sight that many topics in SE have common threads and because of this, advances in one sub-discipline may transmit to another. The presentation of results between diff- ent sub-disciplines of SE encourages this interchange for the advancement of SE as a whole. Of particular interest is the hybrid approach of combining ideas from one d- cipline with those of another to achieve a result that is more significant than the sum of the individual parts. Through this hybrid philosophy, a new or common principle can be discovered which has the propensity to propagate throughout this multifaceted discipline. This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-workshop proceedings of the First WICI International Workshop on Web Intelligence meets Brain Informatics, WImBI 2006, which was held in Beijing, China, in December 2006. The workshop explores a new perspective of Web Intelligence (WI) research from the viewpoint of Brain Informatics (BI). The papers in this volume were presented at the workshop “Innovative Internet Community Systems 2003” held on June 19–21, 2003 in Leipzig. This collection represents the proceedings of the 1st GSFC/JPL Workshop on Radical Agent Concepts (WRAC), which was held on 16–18 January, 2002 at the Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) Conference Center in McLean, VA, USA. Over the past few years, agent technologyhas emerged as a powerful force in computing. Agent technology may well form the foundation for the next gen- ation of computing systems. New and innovative agent concepts and techniques may bring further developments to this exploding area of research. Such work is often strongly inspired by theoretical or empirical studies of human behavior, social intelligence, psychology, arts, biology, computer science and philosophy. Thisworkshopaimedatbringingtogether,inaninterdisciplinaryevent,or- inal thinkers, practitioners and academics with an interest in radical (very - novative) concepts for agent-based systems. The workshop provided a forum to present the latest research?ndings in many aspects of agent technology. The - ganizers welcomed participation by those working in agent architectures, agent communities, agent communications, agent modeling, agent applications and other agent-related areas. We were particularly seeking papers on novel and - novative ideas, pushing the envelope of current agent technology. Contributions without a prototype or working system, i.e., purely conceptual contributions, were welcomed, and ”out-of-the-box” thinkers were especially encouraged to participate. The workshop was structured so as to allow the participants adequate time for discussion and interaction, to exchange ideas and re?ect on the motivations, scienti?c grounds and practical consequences of the concepts presented.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the 8th International Workshop on the Design, Specification, and Verification of Interactive Systems, DSV-IS 2001, held in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, in June 2001.The 12 revised full papers presented have gone through two rounds of reviewing, selection, and revision. The book offers topical sections on mobile interface design, context-sensitive interfaces, supervision and control systems, temporal and stochastic issues, and new perspectives.

The wait for the year 2000 was marked by the fear of possible bugs that might have arisen at its beginning. One additional fear we had during this wait was whether - ganising this event would have generated a boon or another bug. The reasons for this fear originated in the awareness that the design of interactive systems is a fast moving area. The type of research work presented at this unique event has received limited support from funding agencies and industries making it more difficult to keep up with the rapid technological changes occurring in interaction technology. However, despite our fear, the workshop was successful because of the high-quality level of participation and discussion. Before discussing such results, let us step back and look at the evolution of DSV-IS (Design, Specification and Verification of Interactive Systems), an international wo- shop that has been organised every year since 1994. The first books that addressed this issue in a complete and thorough manner were the collection of contributions edited by Harrison and Thimbleby and the book written by Alan Dix, which focused on abstractions useful to highlight important concepts in the design of interactive systems. Since then, this area has attracted the interest of a wider number of research groups, and some workshops on related topics started to be organised. DSV-IS had its origins in this spreading and growing interest. The first workshop was held in a monastery located in the hills above Bocca di Magra (Italy).

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 17th Annual Conference on Towards Autonomous Robotics, TAROS 2016, held in Sheffield UK, in June/July 2016. The 23 revised full papers presented together with 15 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 56 submissions. The overall program covers various aspects of robotics, including navigation, planning, sensing and perception, flying and swarm robots, ethics, humanoid robotics, human-robot interaction, and social robotics.
