Purpose: Paper-based artifacts hold significant cultural and social values. However, paper is intrinsically fragile to microorganisms, such as mold, due to its cellulose composition, which can serve as a microorganisms' nutrient source. Mold not only can damage papers' structural integrity and pose significant challenges to conservation works but also may subject individuals attending the contaminated artifacts to health risks. Current approaches for strain identification usually require extensive training, prolonged time for analysis, expensive operation costs, and higher risks of secondary damage due to sampling. Thus, in current conservation practices with mold-contaminated artifacts, little pre-screening or strain identification was performed before mold removal, and the cleaning techniques are usually broad-spectrum rather than strain-specific. With deep learning showing promising applications across various domains, this study investigated the feasibility of using a convolutional neural network (CNN) for fast in-situ recognition and classification of mold on paper. Methods: Molds were first non-invasively sampled from ancient Xuan Paper-based Chinese books from the Qing and Ming dynasties. Strains were identified using molecular biology methods and the four most prevalent strains were inoculated on Xuan paper to create mockups for image collection. Microscopic images of the molds as well as their stains situated on paper were collected using a compound microscope and commercial microscope lens for cell phone cameras, which were then used for training CNN models with a transfer learning scheme to perform the classification of mold. To enable involvement and contribution from the research community, a web interface that actuates the process while providing interactive features for users to learn about the information of the classified strain was constructed. Moreover, a feedback functionality in the web interface was embedded for catching potential classification errors, adding additional training images, or introducing new strains, all to refine the generalizability and robustness of the model. Results & Conclusion: In the study, we have constructed a suite of high-confidence classification CNN models for the diagnostic process for mold contamination in conservation. At the same time, a web interface was constructed that allows recurrently refining the model with human feedback through engaging the research community. Overall, the proposed framework opens new avenues for effective and timely identification of mold, thus enabling proactive and targeted mold remediation strategies in conservation. The research groups in computer vision, graphics, and machine learning have dedicated a substantial amount of attention to the areas of 3D object reconstruction, augmentation, and registration. Deep learning is the predominant method used in artificial intelligence for addressing computer vision challenges. However, deep learning on three-dimensional data presents distinct obstacles and is now in its nascent phase. There have been significant advancements in deep learning specifically for three-dimensional data, offering a range of ways to address these issues. This study offers a comprehensive examination of the latest advancements in deep learning methodologies. We examine many benchmark models for the tasks of 3D object registration, augmentation, and reconstruction. We thoroughly analyse their architectures, advantages, and constraints. In summary, this report provides a comprehensive overview of recent advancements in three-dimensional deep learning and highlights unresolved research areas that will need to be addressed in the future. Medical imaging refers to the process of obtaining images of internal organs for therapeutic purposes such as discovering or studying diseases. The primary objective of medical image analysis is to improve the efficacy of clinical research and treatment options. Deep learning has revamped medical image analysis, yielding excellent results in image processing tasks such as registration, segmentation, feature extraction, and classification. The prime motivations for this are the availability of computational resources and the resurgence of deep convolutional neural networks. Deep learning techniques are good at observing hidden patterns in images and supporting clinicians in achieving diagnostic perfection. It has proven to be the most effective method for organ segmentation, cancer detection, disease categorization, and computer-assisted diagnosis. Many deep learning approaches have been published to analyze medical images for various diagnostic purposes. In this paper, we review the work exploiting current state-of-the-art deep learning approaches in medical image processing. We begin the survey by providing a synopsis of research works in medical imaging based on convolutional neural networks. Second, we discuss popular pretrained models and general adversarial networks that aid in improving convolutional networks' performance. Since deep low‐frequency tremors are considered to be associated with large earthquakes that occur adjacently on the same subducting plate interface, it is important to investigate tremors that occurred before the establishment of modern seismograph networks such as the High Sensitivity Seismograph Network (Hi‐net). We propose a deep‐learning solution to detect evidence of tremors in scanned images of paper seismogram records from over 50 years ago. In this study, we fine‐tuned a convolutional neural network (CNN) based on the Residual Network, which was pre‐trained using images of synthetic waveforms from our previous study, using a data set comprised of images generated from real seismic data recorded digitally by Hi‐net to facilitate a supervised analysis. The fine‐tuned CNN was able to predict the presence or absence of tremors in the Hi‐net images with an accuracy of 98.64%. Gradient‐weighted Class Activation Mapping heatmaps created to visualize model predictions indicated that the CNN's ability to detect tremors is not degraded by the presence of teleseisms. Once validated using the Hi‐net images, the CNN was applied to paper seismograms recorded from 1966 to 1977 at the Kumano observatory in southwest Japan, operated by Earthquake Research Institute, The University of Tokyo. The CNN showed potential for detecting tremors in scanned images of paper seismogram records from the past, facilitating downstream tasks such as the creation of new tremor catalogs. However, further training using an augmented data set to control for variables such as inconsistent plotting pen thickness is required to develop a universally applicable model. Plain Language Summary: In 2002, deep low‐frequency tremors, which periodically occur with much smaller amplitudes and longer durations than common earthquakes, were discovered owing to the establishment of dense seismic arrays in Japan. These tremors are considered to be associated with megathrust earthquakes because they occur in deeper regions of plate boundaries compared with common earthquakes. Investigating tremors that occurred before the establishment of dense seismic arrays is important since megathrust earthquakes recur on intervals of 100–200 years, and digital records from modern seismic arrays cover only a fraction of that time. In this study, we developed a convolutional neural network based on the Residual Network (ResNet) that extracts tremors from images of waveforms recorded more than 50 years ago, when seismometers drew waveforms directly on drum‐rolled paper using a pen. The proposed ResNet, which was trained on seismogram images generated from synthetic waveforms and real data recorded digitally by modern seismic arrays, was applied to scanned images of paper seismograms recorded from 1966 to 1977 at an observatory in southwest Japan. A list of tremors was successfully obtained; however, further training using data that accounts for variables such as inconsistent plotting pen thickness is required to develop a universally applicable model. Accurate shelf-life estimation of food products has the potential to improve the safety, reliability, and sustainability of food supply chains. Here, a scalable system for accurately indicating the freshness-related information of salmon for consumers was developed and characterized. The system comprises two parts, an optically changeable colorimetric sensor by dye incorporated with sol-gel functionalized paper sensor and a deep convolutional neural network (DCNN)-based freshness estimation system based on images. The paper sensor was produced based on paper and immersed, coated, or printed with (3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTMS) and tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) sol-gel particles and indicators (e.g., pH indicator, ammonia gas indicator, oxidation indicator, and other volatile organic compounds indicators). After being augmented by machine learning, the limit of detection reaches as low as 17.1 ppm for ammonia detection and the accuracy achieved up to 99.2% for salmon freshness estimation, which satisfied the application in food supply chains. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to preserve and promote cultural heritage has experienced significant growth in recent years. Among the various areas of cultural heritage, numismatics have emerged as a particularly promising field where we can develop AI solutions. Numismatics refers to the study of coins, tokens, paper money, and medals, which play a critical role in understanding human history and culture. However, there are still limited resources available to help researchers and collectors in the identification of coins. This is due to the vast number of coins in circulation, which presents a significant challenge in developing smart tools for classification tasks. This paper aims to provide a contribution to this setting. In particular, we start by creating a new dataset called EURO-Coin, which consists of images showing the side of coins with reliefs and is designed to facilitate the training and testing of AI models for euro coin classification. Then, we propose two approaches that leverage Convolutional Neural Networks and self-attention layers to classify the country and value of the coins. In our experiments, we obtain an accuracy of 86.9% for country classification and an accuracy of 96.4% for value classification. One of the pandemics that have caused many deaths is the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). It first appeared in late 2019, and many deaths are increasing day by day until now. Therefore, the early diagnosis of COVID-19 has become a salient issue. Additionally, the current diagnosis methods have several demerits, and a new investigation is required to enhance the diagnosis performance. In this paper, a set of phases are performed, such as collecting data, filtering and augmenting images, extracting features, and classifying ECG images. The data were obtained from two publicly available ECG image datasets, and one of them contained COVID ECG reports. A set of preprocessing methods are applied to the ECG images, and data augmentation is performed to balance the ECG images based on the classes. A deep learning approach based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) is performed for feature extraction. Four different pre-trained models are applied, such as Vgg16, Vgg19, ResNet-101, and Xception. Moreover, an ensemble of Xception and the temporary convolutional network (TCN), which is named ECGConvnet, is proposed. Finally, the results obtained from the former models are fed to four main classifiers. These classifiers are softmax, random forest (RF), multilayer perception (MLP), and support vector machine (SVM). The former classifiers are used to evaluate the diagnosis ability of the proposed methods. The classification scenario is based on fivefold cross-validation. Seven experiments are presented to evaluate the performance of the ECGConvnet. Three of them are multi-class, and the remaining are binary class diagnosing. Six out of seven experiments diagnose COVID-19 patients. The aforementioned experimental results indicated that ECGConvnet has the highest performance over other pre-trained models, and the SVM classifier showed higher accuracy in comparison with the other classifiers. The resulting accuracies from ECGConvnet based on SVM are (99.74%, 98.6%, 99.1% on the multi-class diagnosis tasks) and (99.8% on one of the binary-class diagnoses, while the remaining achieved 100%). Researchers usually face difficulties in finding scientific papers relevant to their research interests due to increasing growth. Recommender systems emerge as a leading solution to filter valuable items intelligently. Recently, deep learning algorithms, such as convolutional neural network, improved traditional recommendation technologies, for example, the graph‐based or content‐based methods. However, existing graph‐based methods ignore high‐order association between users and items on graphs, and content‐based methods ignore global features of texts for explicit user preferences. Therefore, this paper proposes a Content‐based and knowledge Graph‐based Paper Recommendation method (CGPRec), which uses a two‐layer self‐attention block to obtain global features of texts for more complete explicit user preferences, and proposes an improved graph convolutional network for modeling high‐order associations on the knowledge graph to mine implicit user preferences. And the knowledge graph in this paper is constructed with concept nodes, user nodes, paper nodes, and other meta‐data nodes. In this white paper, experts from the Digital Pathology Association (DPA) define terminology and concepts in the emerging field of computational pathology, with a focus on its application to histology images analyzed together with their associated patient data to extract information. This review offers a historical perspective and describes the potential clinical benefits from research and applications in this field, as well as significant obstacles to adoption. Best practices for implementing computational pathology workflows are presented. These include infrastructure considerations, acquisition of training data, quality assessments, as well as regulatory, ethical, and cyber‐security concerns. Heart disease can be life-threatening if not detected and treated at an early stage. The electrocardiogram (ECG) plays a vital role in classifying cardiovascular diseases, and often physicians and medical researchers examine paper-based ECG images for cardiac diagnosis. An automated heart disease prediction system might help to classify heart diseases accurately at an early stage. This study aims to classify cardiac diseases into five classes with paper-based ECG images using a deep learning approach with the highest possible accuracy and the lowest possible time complexity. This research consists of two approaches. In the first approach, five deep learning models, InceptionV3, ResNet50, MobileNetV2, VGG19, and DenseNet201, are employed. In the second approach, an integrated deep learning model (InRes-106) is introduced, combining InceptionV3 and ResNet50. This model is developed as a deep convolutional neural network capable of extracting hidden and high-level features from images. An ablation study is conducted on the proposed model altering several components and hyperparameters, improving the performance even further. Before training the model, several image pre-processing techniques are employed to remove artifacts and enhance the image quality. Our proposed hybrid InRes-106 model performed best with a testing accuracy of 98.34%. The InceptionV3 model acquired a testing accuracy of 90.56%, the ResNet50 89.63%, the DenseNet201 88.94%, the VGG19 87.87%, and the MobileNetV2 achieved 80.56% testing accuracy. The model is trained with a k-fold cross-validation technique with different k values to evaluate the robustness further. Although the dataset contains a limited number of complex ECG images, our proposed approach, based on various image pre-processing techniques, model fine-tuning, and ablation studies, can effectively diagnose cardiac diseases. The Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Location-Based Service is receiving more and more attention due to its high ranging accuracy and good time resolution. However, the None-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) propagation may reduce the ranging accuracy for UWB localization system in indoor environment. So it is important to identify LOS and NLOS propagations before taking proper measures to improve the UWB localization accuracy. In this paper, a deep learning-based UWB NLOS/LOS classification algorithm called FCN-Attention is proposed. The proposed FCN-Attention algorithm utilizes a Fully Convolution Network (FCN) for improving feature extraction ability and a self-attention mechanism for enhancing feature description from the data to improve the classification accuracy. The proposed algorithm is evaluated using an open-source dataset, a local collected dataset and a mixed dataset created from these two datasets. The experiment result shows that the proposed FCN-Attention algorithm achieves classification accuracy of 88.24% on the open-source dataset, 100% on the local collected dataset and 92.01% on the mixed dataset, which is better than the results from other evaluated NLOS/LOS classification algorithms in most scenarios in this paper. Municipal papers and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) wastes are primary constituents of municipal solid waste (MSW) which necessitates effective disposal. Co-pyrolysis is an efficient transformation technology for the production of valuable gas and liquid fuels. Therefore, co-pyrolysis characteristics, kinetics, gas and liquid products of cellulose and PET mixtures were investigated in a two-stage reactor by multiple characterizations coupling with deep learning approach. The results indicated that there exhibited positive interaction for cellulose and PET co-pyrolysis in terms of mass difference (δ m) and mass loss rate difference (δ r) between experimental and calculated values. The thermal decomposition process and synergistic effects (δ m and δ r) were accurately predicted by deep learning approaches (R 2 =0.9823–0.9993) using temperature, catalyst, mixing ratio and heating rate variables. Feature importance revealed that the temperature, catalyst, heating rate and mixing ratio were in the descending order to affect the remaining mass from TG curves. And the temperature played a predominant role in synergistic effects. The Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (FWO) method was more suitable for fitting the pyrolysis process to obtain activation energy (E a) with higher R 2 (0.94714–0.99640) compared with Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose (KAS) method. When the mixing ratio of cellulose and PET was 1:1, the E a was significantly reduced to 80.73 KJ/mol, and further reduced to 73.04 KJ/mol by introducing the catalyst, as compared to E a of individual cellulose (178.95 KJ/mol) and PET (198.34 KJ/mol). Co-pyrolysis of cellulose and PET led to a reduction of carbohydrates, furans, alcohols, ketones, and phenols, while the content of acids was remarkably increased which was consistent with the observation in FTIR that the absorption peak of C＝O became sharp and strong. The introduction of ZSM-11 resulted in an increase in aromatics and a decrease in acids content owing to aromatization and deoxygenation. This work is expected to offer beneficial guidance for the efficient disposal of MSW and the application of deep learning methods. Clinical named entity extraction (NER) based on deep learning gained much attention among researchers and data analysts. This paper proposes a NER approach to extract valuable Parkinson’s disease-related information. To develop an effective NER method and to handle problems in disease data analytics, a unique NER technique applies a “recognize-map-extract (RME)” mechanism and aims to deal with complex relationships present in the data. Due to the fast-growing medical data, there is a challenge in the development of suitable deep-learning methods for NER. Furthermore, the traditional machine learning approaches rely on the time-consuming process of creating corpora and cannot extract information for specific needs and locations in certain situations. This paper presents a clinical NER approach based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) for better use of specific features around medical entities and analyzes the performance of the proposed approach through fine-tuning NER with effective pre-training on the BC5CDR dataset. The proposed method uses annotation of entities for various medical concepts. The second stage develops a clinically NER method. Defect detection systems based on machine vision have been widely used as an essential part of intelligent manufacturing systems. However, in traditional object detection methods that rely on images as input, differences in defect areas, blurred images, and complex background interference can seriously impair detection accuracy. To meet these challenges, this paper proposed a dual-path neural network based on shearlet transform (STDPNet) by taking advantage of shearlet transform in multi-scale analysis and combining it with the improved object detection algorithm proposed in this paper. First, images are multi-scale and multi-directional decomposed with shearlet transform, and multi-directional sub-band information is input to the detection network instead of image information. Then, this paper proposed a dual-path object detection network for the differences between different frequency bands and introduced a transfer learning strategy between paths to improve the model performance. Finally, the training results on the NEU surface defect public dataset show that the mean average precision of STDPNet achieves 86.81% at a detection speed of 44.45 f/s, which exceeds that of Faster R-CNN by 12%. Experiments on different datasets prove that the accuracy is significantly superior to other models, and the proposed method is more advantageous compared to other models in large, fuzzy, and indistinguishable defect types. In the last decade, there has been a significant increase in the number of papers related to machine learning and the application of machine learning in various fields of science. Belmonte et al. observed that between 2010 and 2018, the growth in the number of papers related to machine learning topics and big data was exponential. They analysed 4240 scientific publications from the Web of Science citation database [1]. Xu et al., in the analysis of publications in the International Journal of Machine Learning and Cybernetics, noted that from 2010 to 2017, the number of publications, the cooperation rate, the total number of authors, and the degree of cooperation had shown an increasing trend [2]. Dokic et al. analysed the publication of papers in which deep learning is applied in the field of agriculture and noticed that the first papers were published in 2014, and in the second half of the second decade of the 21st century, exponential growth in the number of published papers was observed [3]. The objectives of this paper are primarily to analyze the literature related to the application of deep learning in apple growing, to propose the division of these papers depending on the area, and to analyze the observed trends in publishing papers related to this topic. In the analysis, only papers published in scientific journals were considered, and the condition is that they be found in the citation databases of the Web of Science or Scopus. The second section gives a brief overview of deep learning and its development and a presentation of the importance of apple growing in agriculture. The third section is an overview of papers that use deep learning methods and solve some problems in growing apples. In this paper, we recognize serial numbers on banknotes using deep learning. The samples used in this paper are digital images which have been preprocessed with data labelling and data augmentation, e.g., scaling transformation, etc. The algorithms based on deep learning are proposed and have the stability for serial number recognition with complex backgrounds. In this paper, a pipeline of deep neural networks is established for the recognition of banknote serial numbers. Because high reliability is more important than accuracy in financial applications, DenseNet is set forth as the primary classifier, the scaling transformation of SegLink is put forward to locate the characters, the detection rate is up to 95.80%. Both the ABO and Rhesus (Rh) blood groups play crucial roles in blood transfusion medicine. Herein, we report a simple and low-cost paper-based analytical device (PAD) for phenotyping red blood cell (RBC) antigens. Using this Rh typing format, 5 Rh antigens on RBCs can be simultaneously detected and macroscopically visualized within 12 min. The proposed Rh phenotyping relies on the presence or absence of hemagglutination in the sample zones after immobilizing the antibodies targeting each Rh antigen. The PAD was optimized in terms of filter paper type, antibodies, and distance of the visualization zone. In this study, the optimal conditions were Whatman filter paper Grade 4; anti-D, –C, -E, -c, and -e antibodies; RBC suspension of 30%; and a visualization zone of 1 cm above the sample zone. The accuracy of simultaneously phenotyping the five Rh RBC antigens in the blood samples (n = 4692) was 99.19%, comparable with the accuracy of the gold-standard tube method used by blood bank laboratories in several regions of Thailand. Furthermore, decision making based on this method can be assisted by deep learning. After implementing a two-stage objective detection algorithm (YOLO v4-tiny) and classification model (DenseNet-201), the ambiguous images (n = 48) were interpreted with 100% accuracy. The PAD integrated with customized-region convolutional neural networks can reduce the interpretation discrepancies in RBC antigen phenotyping in any laboratory. Applied computing and artificial intelligence methods have been attracting growing interest in recent years due to their effectiveness in solving technical problems. Hao et al. [[14]] present an unsupervised fault diagnosis methodology to leverage the generated MPCs of different working conditions to diagnose the actual unlabeled MPCs. The paper by Ainapure et al. [[17]] proposes a new cross-domain fault diagnosis method with enhanced robustness. The paper by Saeed et al. Code smells violate software development principles that make the software more prone to errors and changes. Researchers have developed code smell detectors using manual and semi-automatic methods to identify these issues. However, three key challenges have limited the practical use of these detectors: developers' subjective perceptions of code smells, lack of consensus in the detection process, and difficulty in setting appropriate detection thresholds. While code smell detection using machine learning has progressed significantly, there still appears to be a gap in understanding the effective utilization of deep learning (DL) approaches. This paper aims to review and identify current methods for code smell detection using DL techniques. A systematic literature review is conducted on 35 primary studies from a collection of 8739 publications between 2013 and the present. The analysis reveals that common code smells detected include Feature Envy, God Classes, Long Methods, Complex Classes, and Large Classes. The most popular DL algorithms used are Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), often combined with other techniques for better results. Algorithms that train models on large datasets with fewer independent variables demonstrate exemplary performance. Introduction: In recent years, the use of EEG signals for seizure detection has gained widespread academic attention. Aiming at the problem of overfitting deep learning models due to the small number of EEG signal data during epilepsy detection, this paper proposes an epilepsy detection method that combines data augmentation and deep learning. Methods: First, the Adversarial and Mixup Data Augmentation (AMDA) method is used to realize the data augmentation, which effectively enriches the number of training samples. To further improve the classification accuracy and robustness of epilepsy detection, this paper proposes a one-dimensional convolutional neural network and gated recurrent unit (AM-1D CNN-GRU) network model based on attention mechanism for epilepsy detection. Results and discussion: The experimental results show that the performance of epilepsy detection achieved by using augmented data is significantly improved, and the accuracy, sensitivity, and area under the subject's working characteristic curve are up to 96.06, 95.48%, and 0.9637, respectively. Compared with the nonaugmented data, all indicators are increased by more than 6.2%. Meanwhile, the detection performance was significantly improved compared with other epilepsy detection methods. Currently, deep learning methods for low‐light image enhancement tasks mainly focus on the illumination of images, while neglecting the problems of image noise and feature loss. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel low‐light image enhancement network called DAF‐Retinex, based on the Retinex‐Net. To address the issue of image noise, different from traditional image denoise methods, this paper utilizes a fully convolutional neural network to denoise the reflection component, additionally, a denoising loss function is introduced to suppress noise. For preserving image details and extracting features, this paper creatively introduces self‐calibrated convolutions into low‐light image enhancement tasks, furthermore, a feature augmented attention block consisting of feature‐guided attention (FGA) is designed for feature learning to effectively enhance image illumination and extract image detail features. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm in this paper effectively removes image noise and extracts detailed features, resulting in visually improved outcomes. In this paper, a method based on transfer learning is proposed to recover the three-dimensional shape of cultural relics faces from a single old photo. It can simultaneously reconstruct the three-dimensional facial structure and align the texture of the cultural relics with fewer training samples. The UV position map is used to represent the three-dimensional shape in space and act as the output of the network. A convolutional neural network is used to reconstruct the UV position map from a single 2D image. In the training process, the human face data is used for pre-training, and then a small amount of artifact data is used for fine-tuning. A deep learning model with strong generalization ability is trained with fewer artifact data, and a three-dimensional model of the cultural relic face can be reconstructed from a single old photograph. The methods can train more complex deep networks without a large amount of cultural relic data, and no over-fitting phenomenon occurs, which effectively solves the problem of fewer cultural relic samples. The method is verified by restoring a Chinese Terracotta Warrior with facial cracks and a Buddha with a broken nose. Because of the difficulty in fault detection for and diagnosing the adjustment hydraulic servomotor, this paper uses feature extraction technology to extract the time domain and frequency domain features of the pressure signal of the adjustment hydraulic servomotor and splice the features of multiple pressure signals through the Multi-source Information Fusion (MSIF) method. The comprehensive expression of device status information is obtained. After that, this paper proposes a fault detection Algorithm GA-SVDD-neg, which uses Genetic Algorithm (GA) to optimize Support Vector Data Description with negative examples (SVDD-neg). Through joint optimization with the Mutual Information (MI) feature selection algorithm, the features that are most sensitive to the state deterioration of the adjustment hydraulic servomotor are selected. Experiments show that the MI algorithm has a better performance than other feature dimensionality reduction algorithms in the field of the abnormal detection of adjustment hydraulic servomotors, and the GA-SVDD-neg algorithm has a stronger robustness and generality than other anomaly detection algorithms. In addition, to make full use of the advantages of deep learning in automatic feature extraction and classification, this paper realizes the fault diagnosis of the adjustment hydraulic servomotor based on 1D Convolutional Neural Network (1DCNN). Simple Summary: Through gesture recognition and detection of sika deer, farmers can observe the gestures of sika deer without physical contact, providing data and technical support for the intelligent and welfare-oriented breeding of sika deer. Firstly, this paper proposes to add the iAFF iterative attention feature fusion module to the C2f of the backbone network module, replace the original SPPF module with AIFI module, and use the attention mechanism to adjust the feature channel adaptively. This aims to enhance granularity, improve the model's recognition, and enhance understanding of sika deer behavior in complex scenes. Secondly, a novel convolutional neural network module is introduced to improve the efficiency and accuracy of feature extraction, while preserving the model's depth and diversity. In addition, a new attention mechanism module is proposed to expand the receptive field and simplify the model. Furthermore, a new pyramid network and an optimized detection head module are presented to improve the recognition and interpretation of sika deer postures in intricate environments. The experimental results demonstrate that the model achieves 91.6% accuracy in recognizing the posture of sika deer, with a 6% improvement in accuracy and a 4.6% increase in mAP50 compared to YOLOv8n. Compared to other models in the YOLO series, such as YOLOv5n, YOLOv7-tiny, YOLOv8n, YOLOv8s, YOLOv9, and YOLOv10, this model exhibits higher accuracy, and improved mAP50 and mAP50-95 values. With the development of image feature matching technology, feature matching algorithms based on deep learning have achieved excellent results, but in scenarios with low texture or extreme perspective changes, the matching accuracy is still difficult to guarantee. In this paper, a superresolution reconstruction method based on a Residual-ESPCN (efficient subpixel convolutional neural network) approach is proposed based on LoFTR (local feature matching with transformers). The superresolution method is used to improve the interpolation method used in ASFF (adaptive spatial feature fusion) to increase the image resolution, enhance the detailed information of the image, and make the extracted features richer. Then, ASFF is introduced into the local feature extraction module of LoFTR, which can alleviate the inconsistency problem of information transmission between different scale features of the feature pyramid and lessen the amount of information lost during transmission from low- to high-resolution levels. Moreover, to improve the adaptability of the algorithm to different scenarios, OTSU is introduced to adaptively calculate the threshold of feature matching. The majority of Android smartphone apps are free. When an application is used, advertisements are displayed in order to generate revenue. Adware-related advertising fraud costs billions of dollars each year. Adware is a form of advertising-supported software, that turns into malware when it automatically installs additional malware and adware on an infected device, steals user data, and exposes other vulnerabilities. Better techniques for detecting adware are needed due to the evolution of increasingly sophisticated evasive malware, particularly adware. Even though significant work has been done in the area of malware detection, the adware family has received very little attention. This paper presents a deep learning-based scheme called MadDroid to detect malicious Android adware based on static features. Moreover, this paper delivers a novel dataset that consists of malicious Adware and benign applications and an optimised Convolutional neural network (CNN) for detecting Adware infected by malware based on the permissions of the applications. The International Skin Imaging Collaboration (ISIC) datasets are pivotal resources for researchers in machine learning for medical image analysis, especially in skin cancer detection. These datasets contain tens of thousands of dermoscopic photographs, each accompanied by gold-standard lesion diagnosis metadata. Annual challenges associated with ISIC datasets have spurred significant advancements, with research papers reporting metrics surpassing those of human experts. Skin cancers are categorized into melanoma and non-melanoma types, with melanoma posing a greater threat due to its rapid potential for metastasis if left untreated. This paper aims to address challenges in skin cancer detection via visual inspection and manual examination of skin lesion images, processes historically known for their laboriousness. Despite notable advancements in machine learning and deep learning models, persistent challenges remain, largely due to the intricate nature of skin lesion images. We review research on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) in skin cancer classification and segmentation, identifying issues like data duplication and augmentation problems. Many government institutions in developing countries such as the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) keep a variety of paper-based records that are available in printed or handwritten format. The need for technology that turns handwritten writing into digital text is therefore highly demanded. E-government in developed and developing countries is a crucial facilitator for the provision of such services. This paper aims to develop a deep learning model based on the mask region convolutional neural network (mask-RCNN) to effectively digitize kurdish handwritten text recognition (KHTR). In this research, typical datasets, which includes the isolated handwritten Central Kurdish character images, an extensive database of 40,410 images, and 390 native writers have been produced to determine the developed approach's performance in terms of identification rates. This approach achieves adequate outcomes in terms of training time and accuracy. The proposed model gives higher performance for detection, localization, and recognition when using a dataset containing many challenges, the results were 80%, 96%, and 87.6 for precision, recall, and F-score respectively. Traffic accident data‐based portrait plays a vital role in accident cause investigation, relationship reasoning, prevention, and control. The traffic accident data tend to be multisourced with increasingly hidden and complicated accident relationships. The existing reported research focus more on traffic drivers' measurement of penalty, the relationship among drivers, cars, and dates, etc. How to use multisource data based on deep learning, especially based on the Chinese recent unstructured data and structured data to establish accident portrait for individual and groups of accident drivers, still lacks. Moreover, how to perform multisource accident data label extraction, identity, and relationship extraction are still challenging problems. This paper proposes a multisource accident datasets‐driven deep learning‐based traffic accident portrait method. Our multisource accident datasets‐driven deep learning model is composed of the following three submodels: (1) the structured data accident model using our accident feature‐driven bidirectional long short‐term memory (Bi‐LSTM) and accident feature‐driven bidirectional conditional random field (Bi‐CRF) model to extract labels, (2) the unstructured traffic accident data model using our accident feature‐driven piecewise convolutional neural network (PCNN) model to identify the extracted labels, and (3) the semistructured traffic accident data processing model. Moreover, to solve the problem of how to construct hidden relationship among the multisource accident data, a multisource accident data visualization method based on traffic accident knowledge graph where the accident relational inference algorithm is to complete the hidden relationship between traffic accident data labels is used and then data are visualized using the traffic accident knowledge graph. This paper uses the NER dataset of the People's Daily and a manually labeled dataset to test the Bi‐LSTM + Bi‐CRF model, and it acquires the highest scores of 0.9562 and 0.9779 compared with several other models. This paper uses the DuIE dataset and a manually labeled dataset to test the PCNN model, and it acquires the highest scores of 0.9674 and 0.9108 compared with several other models. Tool condition monitoring technology is an indispensable part of intelligent manufacturing. Most current research focuses on complex signal processing techniques or advanced deep learning algorithms to improve prediction performance without fully leveraging the end-to-end advantages of deep learning. The challenge lies in transforming multi-sensor raw data into input data suitable for direct model feeding, all while minimizing data scale and preserving sufficient temporal interpretation of tool wear. However, there is no clear reference standard for this so far. In light of this, this paper innovatively explores the processing methods that transform raw data into input data for deep learning models, a process known as an input paradigm. This paper introduces three new input paradigms: the downsampling paradigm, the periodic paradigm, and the subsequence paradigm. Then an improved hybrid model that combines a convolutional neural network (CNN) and bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) was employed to validate the model's performance. The subsequence paradigm demonstrated considerable superiority in prediction results based on the PHM2010 dataset, as the newly generated time series maintained the integrity of the raw data. Further investigation revealed that, with 120 subsequences and the temporal indicator being the maximum value, the model's mean absolute error (MAE) and root mean square error (RMSE) were the lowest after threefold cross-validation, outperforming several classical and contemporary methods. The methods explored in this paper provide references for designing input data for deep learning models, helping to enhance the end-to-end potential of deep learning models, and promoting the industrial deployment and practical application of tool condition monitoring systems. This systematic review aims to assess the efficacy of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in orthopedic surgery, with a focus on diagnostic accuracy and outcome prediction. In this review, we expose the findings of a systematic literature review awning the papers published from 2016 to October 2023 where authors worked on the application of an AI techniques and methods to an orthopedic purpose or problem. After application of inclusion and exclusion criteria on the extracted papers from PubMed and Google Scholar databases, 75 studies were included in this review. We examined, screened, and analyzed their content according to PRISMA guidelines. We also extracted data about the study design, the datasets included in the experiment, the reported performance measures and the results obtained. In this report, we will share the results of our survey by outlining the key machine and Deep Learning (DL) techniques, such as Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Autoencoders and Generative Adversarial Network, that were mentioned, the various application domains in orthopedics, the type of source data and its modality, as well as the overall quality of their predictive capabilities. This paper addresses the significant problem of identifying the relevant background and contextual literature related to deep learning (DL) as an evolving technology in order to provide a comprehensive analysis of the application of DL to the specific problem of pneumonia detection via chest X-ray (CXR) imaging, which is the most common and cost-effective imaging technique available worldwide for pneumonia diagnosis. This paper in particular addresses the key period associated with COVID-19, 2020–2023, to explain, analyze, and systematically evaluate the limitations of approaches and determine their relative levels of effectiveness. The context in which DL is applied as both an aid to and an automated substitute for existing expert radiography professionals, who often have limited availability, is elaborated in detail. The rationale for the undertaken research is provided, along with a justification of the resources adopted and their relevance. This explanatory text and the subsequent analyses are intended to provide sufficient detail of the problem being addressed, existing solutions, and the limitations of these, ranging in detail from the specific to the more general. Indeed, our analysis and evaluation agree with the generally held view that the use of transformers, specifically, vision transformers (ViTs), is the most promising technique for obtaining further effective results in the area of pneumonia detection using CXR images. However, ViTs require extensive further research to address several limitations, specifically the following: biased CXR datasets, data and code availability, the ease with which a model can be explained, systematic methods of accurate model comparison, the notion of class imbalance in CXR datasets, and the possibility of adversarial attacks, the latter of which remains an area of fundamental research. The maturity grading of walnuts during harvesting relies on experience. In this paper, walnut images in a natural environment were collected to construct a dataset, and deep learning algorithms were utilized to combine walnut internal physical and chemical indicators to carry out research on walnut maturity detection methods and further research on walnut oil content prediction by combining walnut images with walnut oil content indicators. The main contents of this paper include collecting walnut images in a natural environment, constructing datasets, and using deep learning algorithms combined with internal physical and chemical indexes of walnuts to study walnut maturity detection and oil content prediction methods. First, two walnut image acquisition schemes were designed, and a total of 9504 images were collected from 23 August to 21 September 2021. The dataset was expanded to 18,504 images through data preprocessing and image enhancement. A self-supervised Gaussian attention network (GATCluster) walnut ripeness detection method based on image clustering is proposed to develop ripeness criteria through unsupervised clustering, and the accuracy of the criteria is verified by analysis of variance (ANOVA). The maturity detection accuracy of the test set of 1500 images is 88.33%. Secondly, a walnut oil content prediction method based on improved ResNet34 is proposed. The feature extraction capability is improved by introducing the Squeeze-and-Excitation Networks (SENet) channel attention mechanism and the convolutional self-attention module. The prediction results on 50 images show that the root mean square error, average absolute percentage error, and regression coefficient are 2.96, 0.103, and 0.8822, respectively. Self-interference (SI) represents a bottleneck in the performance of full-duplex (FD) communication systems, necessitating robust offsetting techniques to unlock the potential of FD systems. Currently, deep learning has been leveraged within the communication domain to address specific challenges and enhance efficiency. Inspired by this, this paper reviews the self-interference cancellation (SIC) process in the digital domain focusing on SIC capability. The paper introduces a model architecture that integrates CNN and gated recurrent unit (GRU), while also incorporating residual networks and self-attention mechanisms to enhance the identification and elimination of SI. This model is named CGRSA-Net. Firstly, CNN is employed to capture local signal features in the time–frequency domain. Subsequently, a ResNet module is introduced to mitigate the gradient vanishing problem. Concurrently, GRU is utilized to dynamically capture and retain both long- and short-term dependencies during the communication process. Lastly, by integrating the self-attention mechanism, attention weights are flexibly assigned when processing sequence data, thereby focusing on the most important parts of the input sequence. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed CGRSA-Net model achieves a minimum of 28% improvement in nonlinear SIC capability compared to polynomial and existing neural network-based eliminator. Plant diseases pose a significant menace to agricultural output and global food security. Detecting these diseases promptly and precisely is pivotal for effective disease control and optimization of crop yield. This survey paper presents a comprehensive analysis of recent advancements in plant disease detection leveraging deep learning and wavelet neural network approaches. Thirty notable papers are reviewed, emphasizing the diverse methodologies and datasets employed. The analyzed papers collectively showcase the efficacy of convolutional neural networks, wavelet transformations, and deep learning models in accurately identifying and classifying plant diseases. While conventional Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have proven effective in image-based disease detection, they might encounter challenges in capturing frequency-domain nuances within plant images. Several papers emphasize specialized datasets such as Field Plant, Plant Village,and others, catering to real-world scenarios. Moreover, research indicates a continuous trend towards enhancing model performance, optimizing accuracy, and enabling real-time disease detection, promising a significant impact on agricultural practices. Precision, Recall, and F1-Score are essential performance metrics that can be used to conduct a thorough evaluation of the presented models. Oral diseases are highly prevalent globally. Oral health also affects the general health of people. Therefore, the prevention and early treatment of oral diseases is important and beneficial. Diagnosis of oral health and diseases is conventionally done by clinical examination and, at times, by various investigations. Clinical examination is subjective and, hence, susceptible to error. One of the emerging trends of late is the use of machine learning and deep learning in healthcare. The current available systems tend to focus on a single image type and also consider fewer diseases at a time. To overcome these shortcomings, we developed a system, which is presented in this paper titled "Enhancing Oral Health Assessment through Convolutional Neural Networks Based Detection." By using various machine learning and deep learning algorithms, training multiple models, and integrating them, our proposed system can overcome these limitations. With the input given to the system in the form of an image, it would be able to detect any disease present, classify it, and give it as an output to the dentist. This paper explores the system’s background, the work done on various systems developed so far, the proposed system, and the techniques involved in making it. The expected results, the methods to verify the accuracy of the output, and the future scope are also discussed. The proposed system would be a significant contribution to the field of oral healthcare as it can assist dentists in diagnosing diseases and treating patients swiftly and efficiently.
