Millipedes are soil macrodetritivores with considerable roles in decomposing organic matter and recycling nutrients. This paper aims to identify the effects of land use on millipedes based on a literature review. Land use changes impact species distribution, diversity, and behavior with consequences for litter decomposition and soil quality. Surrounding landscapes influence the millipedes' community structure. This scientific paper examines the role of Integrated Coastal Management (ICM) approach in the protection of coastal and marine resources in Tanzania. It engages coastal resource users and practitioners in focus group discussions and interviews, and complements the data obtained with documented sources. This paper presents data compilation for invertebrates and protists indicator taxa of organic pollution and trophic state of continental waters. Information was collected from research papers, monographs, electronic resources, and our own research. Altogether 1732 indicator taxa of Kingdoms Protista, Protozoa, Chromista, and Animalia from 19 taxonomical Phyla are represented with ecological preferences for saprobity with saprobity index (S) and trophic state. This paper documents the structure of flow and bed morphology of a cutoff meander of the Danube River in relationship with a GIS approach. The cutoffs effect produce changes in the repartition of the water and sediment fluxes between the natural channel and the manmade canal, with direct implications on the environmental evolution of the delta. The Dranov de Jos meander (Lower Dranov meander ‒ LDM) belt seems to be one of the most affected by the rectification works performed on Sfântu Gheorghe branch between 1981 and 1992. The upstream and downstream parts of the cutoff are characterized by the decrease of the channel width by banks sedimentation (with the rate of ‒6.2 m/year) and at the apex zone, the bank's sedimentation is associated with intense sediment infilling of the central part of the channel, where a large deposit of 950 m in length and 190 m in width is formed. The aim of the present paper is to compile a list of the invasive alien species on the Black Sea coast of Georgia. The results have been received from an assessment of data collected from different sources. According to recent data, the greatest number of species (36%) has arrived into the Black Sea from the Mediterranean as a consequence of expanding the natural range or coming through the ballast waters. This proportion has increased with the rising water temperatures of the upper layer. Only a few of these species have become abundant and almost none have reached other seas of the Ponto-Caspian. The Jinam River habitats inventory revealed the presence of alluvial valley, cascades, riffle-pools, boulders, cobbles, and gravel as types of substrata. The limnological parameters portrayed average values of air and water temperature, turbidity, pH, dissolved oxygen, free carbon di-oxide, total alkalinity, and conductivity. This recent pioneering study on the fish of the Jinam River in the Dima Hasao District of Assam revealed the presence of 18 species belonging to 15 genera, five families, and three orders, which are reported for the first time through this paper. Worth highlighting is the abundance of Barilius bendelisis and Devario aequipinnatus, and the fewer numbers of Chanda nama, these warranting proper management and conservation of the fish for this river. Monitoring rainforests in West Africa is necessary for natural resource management. Remote sensing is valuable for mapping tropical ecosystems and evaluation of landscape heterogeneity. This study presents landscape analysis in Sierra Leone which affects wildlife habitats and biodiversity. Methods include modules "r.mapcalc", "r.li.mps", "r.li.edgedensity", and "r.forestfrag" of GRASS GIS for satellite image processing by computation of mean patch size, edge density index and landscape fragmentation with six levels: exterior, patch, transitional, edge, perforated, and interior. A novel inland record of the green alga Ulva intestinalis was found in central Kamchatka, in a brackish stream originating from cooled waters of drilled thermal springs. This species was observed in May 2017, but not encountered again at the same site despite targeted search. Its occurrence in central Kamchatka was surprising given the natural environment, and was probably related to both the presence of thermal springs and human disturbance. The sporadic inland appearance of U. intestinalis in this region suggests it may be unable to maintain stable populations in this region, and experience repeated local extinctions and recolonizations. The studied area is the single largest fishery in Bangladesh. The present work was conducted at two points of the Padma River (Sureshwar and Tarabunia) from July 2019 to June 2021 to monitor the efficiency of the 5th Hilsa sanctuary. Proportion of spent rate, length frequency, larvae and Jatka abundance, CPUE of larvae, the length-weight relationship of Jatka, plankton composition, and physico-chemical parameters of water were assessed and found adequate in the Hilsa sanctuary. Romanogobio banaticus it is a species of conservation interest with a small distribution range in the south-west of the Romanian Carpathians basin. In spite of the presence of some moderate anthropogenic threats and risks, the Nera River is a sanctuary for this fish. The lower latitude of Nera in comparison with other rivers where this fish is living, explain its presence in an atypical ichthyological zone. This species presence is permanent, the abundance is relatively high, the age structure is well balanced, more than that, in some sectors is a co-dominant species, all of these revealing a favourable conservation status. Hydrobiological research of the main components of the biota of the lower reaches of the Sula River was conducted. The river flows into the Kremenchutsk Reservoir. Zoobenthos, zooperiphyton, vascular water plants, and ichthyofauna in lotic and lentic microbiotopes were studied. Species and communities of protected status were stated. It was shown, that a significant share (about 30%) consists of rheophilic species. 28 species of fish were registered in the studied area, of which eight are invasive species and 10 are under protection. The biotopic distribution of different fish species, and the intensity of the downstream migration of juvenile fishes in spatial, temporal, and species aspects were estimated. Mullus barbatus barbatus (Linnaeus, 1758) is a teleost fish with high commercial value in Algeria. 120 fish specimens of Mullus barbatus barbatus (L.) sampled from Algerian coasts were examined for their parasitic nematodes. Collected larvae were identified according to morphological and molecular analysis. Collected larvae belong to Hysterothylacium reliquens. Monitoring wetlands of Kenya is critical for analysis of environmental changes since they present unique ecosystems with special hydrological balance and biodiversity. In this study, the Landsat 8-9 OLI/TIRS satellite images for 2015-2022 were classified using GRASS GIS scripts to evaluate changes in the Lorian Swamp wetland, north-eastern Kenya. The results of the image analysis presented maps of land cover changes including wetlands. This study aim is to assess how the water shortage impacted on the growth of two endemic freshwater fish species, the Italian riffle dace Telestes muticellus (Bonaparte, 1837) and Phoxinus spp. complex, in a pre-alpine area in North-West Italy. Both species' specimens growth depended on the streamflow rate: in particular low water levels weighted on Phoxinus spp. specimens, since they showed a negative growth pattern during dry months, while the Telestes muticellus ones continually had a positive growth pattern in the same time frame. The streamflow rate plays a key role in fish growth during severe drought in this area but mechanisms that allow Telestes muticellus specimens to outcompete Phoxinus spp. ones throughout water shortage periods are still unknown. The Romanian Oltul Mijlociu-Cibin-Hârtibaciu Natura 2000 site of community importance (SCI) was designated for the purpose of protecting biodiversity and maintaining the wild flora and fauna in a favourable conservation status, as well as the natural habitats of conservation interest. This research focused on the possible disparition of one protected fish species Pelecus cultratus (Linnaeus, 1758) and the appearance of an alien one Babka gymnotrachelus (Kessler, 1857), as ecological indicators of the fact that at least this Natura 2000 site is far from being properly protected and a new, more responsible way should be followed and different administrators put in charge of the areas management. The establishment and spread of invasive alien plant species (IAPS) outside their natural habitats have irreversibly affected native biodiversity in almost every habitat type. For Southern Transylvania, we recognise that there are about 200 adventive plants. From those, we selected 18 IAPS that occupy riparian habitats, the most common, abundant, frequent or with higher impact on habitats and human health. Peatlands are one of the globally important ecosystems. Blanket bogs are a type of peatlands where water is generally supplied by meteorological events (rain, snow). We have been conducting the first detailed algal flora study of blanket bogs of Turkey and found new records of algae genera ever given for Turkey. Here, we report a total of four desmids genera identified as new records for freshwater algal flora of Turkey: Spirotaenia (Spirotaenia condensata, Spirotaenia erythrocephala), Mesotaenium (Mesotaenium macrococcum), Hyalotheca (Hyalotheca dissiliens), and Bambusina (Bambusina borreri). Data records since 2008 to 2012 showed that occurrence of the coral reef bleaching, increasing in population of jellyfish and decreasing in presence of some migratory marine mammals in Persian Gulf was increased. Results of our biometric methods on jellyfish of the Persian Gulf (Aurelia aurata), showed a significant increase in size during the last 4 years (p < 0.05). Our studies on the area showed that at the sampling areas where superhot wastewater of industries cooled in terrestrial pools and then emptied into the sea, the abundance of the Aurelia aurata was significantly lower than the regions where superhot water directly emptied into the seawater. The present paper aims to characterize the algal communities from Balta Mică a Brăilei Nature Park in terms of their species richness and their ability to reflect the water quality of the aquatic ecosystems they live in. Thirteen shallow floodplain lakes, both permanent and temporary, were considered for the present study, with 16 sampling occasions in 2012 and 2013. More than 300 algal taxa were identified, with the green algae (Chlorophyta) being the dominant phyla in almost all the sampling sites. The trophicity and the organic pollution reached high values in 2012, probably due to low water levels caused by drought. This paper reports microhabitat preferences of Phaeophyta from the shore platform, Dwarka, Gujarat coast, India. Macroalgae distribution was tagged with shore platform's zonal morphology. Macroalgae (Phaeophyta) were surveyed based on systematic random sampling for two years (April, 2013 to March, 2015). Total 21 species of Phaeophyta were identified through intensive fieldwork/in situ survey based on Line Intercept Transect and Quadrate based methods. Five groups of Phaeophyta were identified as per their zonal preference on the shore platform. On family level, most of the Sargassaceae showed a ubiquitous distribution on the shore platform while Dictyotaceae showed preference towards the subtidal and intertidal mixed zone of the shore platform. Genetic structure and genetic distance of Rapana venosa populations from remote regions of the Black Sea (Odessa Bay and eastern Crimea, Ukraine) were defined. Despite the significant difference in morphometric parameters, the investigated samples of mollusks are genetically very similar, and the distance between them is at the level of local populations. Common features of observed groups of Rapana in the northern part of the Black Sea are the unequal occurrence of some alleles and genotypes, a high level of heterozygosity and nonequilibrium in the Hardy-Weinberg equation. The gene flow is the most significant of the evolutionary factors that form the genetic structure of Rapana venosa populations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fish samples from fresh fish, cleaned/washed fish; first stage dried, infusion slurry, and second stage dried, finished product and stored kilishi were analysed. Evaluation was carried out on finished products using a 10-point Hedonic scale. Microbial count and moisture content showed significant differences (ρ < 0.01). Proximate composition of sun and oven dried kilishi (T1) record significantly of higher protein (34.13 ± 0.01), higher ether extract (29.45 ± 0.01), higher nitrogen free extract (17.45 ± 0.35), and have moisture content of (10.92 ± 0.29) despite having highest ash content (5.76 ± 0.69) with crude fibre (2.29 ± 0.23). Kilishi (T2) significantly higher protein (27.13 ± 0.01), higher nitrogen free extract (37.18 ± 0.64), higher ether extract (19.45 ± 0.58), higher ash content (6.09 ± 0.06), despite having higher crude fibre (1.77 ± 0.06) with moisture content of (8.45 ± 0.52); the high proportion of departed groundnut dough mixture resulted in low protein of fish kilishi. Hydrological and sedimentological data were collected on several cross-sections of both natural and artificial canals of three cutoff meanders (Mahmudia, Dunavăţul de Sus, and Dunavăţul de Jos meanders) of the Sfântu Gheorghe branch at the beginning of June 2017. The hydrological data shows a heterogeneous distribution of water discharges: on the meanders of Mahmudia and Dunavăţul de Jos, most of the liquid flow passes through artificial channels. In the case of the Dunavăţul de Sus meander, the cut meander is the main transport channel for the liquid flow. The statistical analysis of chemical data evidenced an excellent quality of the bottom sediments, with few parameters exceeding the limits (for Ni, Cu, and Cr).
