The present study is an evaluation of published papers on machine learning as employed in mastitis research. The aim of this study was the quantitative evaluation of the scientific content and the bibliometric details of these papers. In total, 69 papers were found to combine machine learning in mastitis research and were considered in detail. There was a progressive yearly increase in published papers, which originated from 23 countries (mostly from China or the United States of America). Most original articles (n = 59) referred to work involving cattle, relevant to mastitis in individual animals. Most articles described work related to the development and diagnosis of the infection. Fewer articles described work on the antibiotic resistance of pathogens isolated from cases of mastitis and on the treatment of the infection. In most studies (98.5% of published papers), supervised machine learning models were employed. Most frequently, decision trees and support vector machines were employed in the studies described. 'Machine learning' and 'mastitis' were the most frequently used keywords. The papers were published in 39 journals, with most frequent publications in Computers and Electronics in Agriculture and Journal of Dairy Science. The median number of cited references in the papers was 39 (interquartile range: 31). There were 435 co-authors in the papers (mean: 6.2 per paper, median: 5, min.–max.: 1–93) and 356 individual authors. The median number of citations received by the papers was 4 (min.–max.: 0–70). Most papers (72.5%) were published in open-access mode. This study summarized the characteristics of papers on mastitis and artificial intelligence. Future studies could explore using these methodologies at farm level, and extending them to other animal species, while unsupervised learning techniques might also prove to be useful. Federated learning (FL) is a scheme in which several consumers work collectively to unravel machine learning (ML) problems, with a dominant collector synchronizing the procedure. This decision correspondingly enables the training data to be distributed, guaranteeing that the individual device's data are secluded. The paper systematically reviewed the available literature using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) guiding principle. The study presents a systematic review of appliable ML approaches for FL, reviews the categorization of FL, discusses the FL application areas, presents the relationship between FL and Blockchain Technology (BT), and discusses some existing literature that has used FL and ML approaches. The study also examined applicable machine learning models for federated learning. The inclusion measures were (i) published between 2017 and 2021, (ii) written in English, (iii) published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal, and (iv) Preprint published papers. Unpublished studies, thesis and dissertation studies, (ii) conference papers, (iii) not in English, and (iv) did not use artificial intelligence models and blockchain technology were all removed from the review. In total, 84 eligible papers were finally examined in this study. Finally, in recent years, the amount of research on ML using FL has increased. Accuracy equivalent to standard feature-based techniques has been attained, and ensembles of many algorithms may yield even better results. We discovered that the best results were obtained from the hybrid design of an ML ensemble employing expert features. However, some additional difficulties and issues need to be overcome, such as efficiency, complexity, and smaller datasets. Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly important, especially in the medical field. While AI has been used in medicine for some time, its growth in the last decade is remarkable. Specifically, machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques in medicine have been increasingly adopted due to the growing abundance of health-related data, the improved suitability of such techniques for managing large datasets, and more computational power. ML and DL methodologies are fostering the development of new "intelligent" tools and expert systems to process data, to automatize human–machine interactions, and to deliver advanced predictive systems that are changing every aspect of the scientific research, industry, and society. The Italian scientific community was instrumental in advancing this research area. This article aims to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the ML and DL methodologies and applications used in medicine by the Italian research community in the last five years. To this end, we selected all the papers published in the last five years with at least one of the authors affiliated to an Italian institution that in the title, in the abstract, or in the keywords present the terms "machine learning" or "deep learning" and reference a medical area. We focused our research on journal papers under the hypothesis that Italian researchers prefer to present novel but well-established research in scientific journals. We then analyzed the selected papers considering different dimensions, including the medical topic, the type of data, the pre-processing methods, the learning methods, and the evaluation methods. As a final outcome, a comprehensive overview of the Italian research landscape is given, highlighting how the community has increasingly worked on a very heterogeneous range of medical problems. The integration of machine learning (ML) techniques into marketing strategies has become increasingly relevant in modern business. Utilizing scientific manuscripts indexed in the Scopus database, this article explores how this integration is being carried out. Initially, a focused search is undertaken for academic articles containing both the terms "machine learning" and "marketing" in their titles, which yields a pool of papers. These papers have been processed using the Supabase platform. The process has included steps like text refinement and feature extraction. In addition, our study uses two key ML methodologies: topic modeling through NMF and a comparative analysis utilizing the k-means clustering algorithm. Through this analysis, three distinct clusters emerged, thus clarifying how ML techniques are influencing marketing strategies, from enhancing customer segmentation practices to optimizing the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. Business simulation games have become popular in higher education and business environments. The paper aims to identify the primary research trends and topics of business simulation games research using a systematic and automated literature review with the motivation of research (learning driven and domain driven). Based on these findings, the future development of business simulation games research projected papers that research business simulation games were extracted from Scopus. Second, the research timeline, main publication venues and citation trends have been analysed. Third, the most frequent words, phrases, and topics were extracted using text mining. Results indicate that the research on business simulation games has stagnated, with the most cited papers published in the 2000s. There is a balance between learning-driven and domain driven-research, while technology-driven research is scarce, indicating that the technology used for business simulation games is mature. We project that the research on business simulation games needs to be directed in the area of new technologies that could improve communication with and among the users (virtual reality, augmented reality, simulation games) and technologies that could improve the reasoning and decision-making complexity in business simulation games (artificial intelligence). This paper presents an overview of the uses of the combination of eye tracking and artificial intelligence. In the paper, several aspects of both eye tracking and applied AI methods have been analyzed. It analyzes the eye tracking hardware used along with the sampling frequency, the number of test participants, additional parameters, the extraction of features, the artificial intelligence methods used and the methods of verification of the results. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be very beneficial in the criminal justice system for predicting the risk of recidivism. AI provides unrivalled high computing power, speed, and accuracy; all harnessed to strengthen the efficiency in predicting convicted individuals who may be on the verge of recommitting a crime. The application of AI models for predicting recidivism has brought positive effects by minimizing the possible re-occurrence of crime. However, the question remains of whether criminal justice system stakeholders can trust AI systems regarding fairness, transparency, privacy and data protection, consistency, societal well-being, and accountability when predicting convicted individuals' possible risk of recidivism. These are all requirements for a trustworthy AI. This paper conducted a systematic literature review examining trust and the different requirements for trustworthy AI applied to predicting the risks of recidivism. Based on this review, we identified current challenges and future directions regarding applying AI models to predict the risk of recidivism. Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic brain disorder affecting millions worldwide. It occurs when brain cells that produce dopamine, a chemical controlling movement, die or become damaged. This leads to PD, which causes problems with movement, balance, and posture. Early detection is crucial to slow its progression and improve the quality of life for PD patients. This paper proposes a handwriting-based prediction approach combining a cosine annealing scheduler with deep transfer learning. It utilizes the NIATS dataset, which contains handwriting samples from individuals with and without PD, to evaluate six different models: VGG16, VGG19, ResNet18, ResNet50, ResNet101, and Vit. This paper compares the performance of these models based on three metrics: accuracy, precision, and F1 score. Artificial intelligence is changing and influencing our world. As one of the main algorithms in the field of artificial intelligence, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have developed rapidly in recent years. Especially after the emergence of NASNet, CNNs have gradually pushed the idea of AutoML to the public's attention, and large numbers of new structures designed by automatic searches are appearing. These networks are usually based on reinforcement learning and evolutionary learning algorithms. However, sometimes, the blocks of these networks are complex, and there is no small model for simpler tasks. Therefore, this paper proposes POSS-CNN aiming at target recognition and detection, which employs a multi-branch CNN structure with PSNC and a method of automatic parallel selection for super parameters based on a multi-branch CNN structure. Moreover, POSS-CNN can be broken up. By choosing a single branch or the combination of two branches as the "benchmark", as well as the overall POSS-CNN, we can achieve seven models with different precision and operations. The test accuracy of POSS-CNN for a recognition task tested on a CIFAR10 dataset can reach 86.4%, which is equivalent to AlexNet and VggNet, but the operation and parameters of the whole model in this paper are 45.9% and 45.8% of AlexNet, and 29.5% and 29.4% of VggNet. The mAP of POSS-CNN for a detection task tested on the LSVH dataset is 45.8, inferior to the 62.3 of YOLOv3. However, compared with YOLOv3, the operation and parameters of the model in this paper are reduced by 57.4% and 15.6%, respectively. After being accelerated by WRA, POSS-CNN for a detection task tested on an LSVH dataset can achieve 27 fps, and the energy efficiency is 0.42 J/f, which is 5 times and 96.6 times better than GPU 2080Ti in performance and energy efficiency, respectively. Autonomous vehicles (AVs) have emerged as a promising technology for enhancing road safety and mobility. However, designing AVs involves various critical aspects, such as software and system requirements, that must be carefully addressed. This paper investigates safety-aware approaches for AVs, focusing on the software and system requirements aspect. It reviews the existing methods based on software and system design and analyzes them according to their algorithms, parameters, evaluation criteria, and challenges. This paper also examines the state-of-the-art artificial intelligence-based techniques for AVs, as AI has been a crucial element in advancing this technology. This paper reveals that 63% of the reviewed studies use various AI methods, with deep learning being the most prevalent (34%). In this paper, we have developed the SEMAR (Smart Environmental Monitoring and Analytics in Real-Time) IoT application server platform for fast deployments of IoT application systems. It provides various integration capabilities for the collection, display, and analysis of sensor data on a single platform. Recently, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become very popular and widely used in various applications including IoT. To support this growth, the integration of AI into SEMAR is essential to enhance its capabilities after identifying the current trends of applicable AI technologies in IoT applications. In this paper, we first provide a comprehensive review of IoT applications using AI techniques in the literature. They cover predictive analytics, image classification, object detection, text spotting, auditory perception, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and collaborative AI. Next, we identify the characteristics of each technique by considering the key parameters, such as software requirements, input/output (I/O) data types, processing methods, and computations. Third, we design the integration of AI techniques into SEMAR based on the findings. Finally, we discuss use cases of SEMAR for IoT applications with AI techniques. This paper aims to provide discernment toward establishing a general framework, dedicated to data analysis and forecasting in smart buildings. It constitutes an industrial return of experience from an industrialist specializing in IoT supported by the academic world. With the necessary improvement of energy efficiency, discernment is paramount for facility managers to optimize daily operations and prioritize renovation work in the building sector. With the scale of buildings and the complexity of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, the use of artificial intelligence is deemed the cheapest tool, holding the highest potential, even if it requires IoT sensors and a deluge of data to establish genuine models. However, the wide variety of buildings, users, and data hinders the development of industrial solutions, as specific studies often lack relevance to analyze other buildings, possibly with different types of data monitored. The relevance of the modeling can also disappear over time, as buildings are dynamic systems evolving with their use. In this paper, we propose to study the forecasting ability of the widely used Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network algorithm, which is well-designed for time series modeling, across an instrumented building. In this way, we considered the consistency of the performances for several issues as we compared to the cases with no prediction, which is lacking in the literature. The insight provided let us examine the quality of AI models and the quality of data needed in forecasting tasks. Finally, we deduced that efficient models and smart choices about data allow meaningful insight into developing time series modeling frameworks for smart buildings. For reproducibility concerns, we also provide our raw data, which came from one "real" smart building, as well as significant information regarding this building. In summary, our research aims to develop a methodology for exploring, analyzing, and modeling data from the smart buildings sector. Based on our experiment on forecasting temperature sensor measurements, we found that a bigger AI model (1) does not always imply a longer time in training and (2) can have little impact on accuracy and (3) using more features is tied to data processing order. Artificial intelligence (AI) has witnessed an exponential increase in use in various applications. Recently, the academic community started to research and inject new AI-based approaches to provide solutions to traditional software-engineering problems. However, a comprehensive and holistic understanding of the current status needs to be included. To close the above gap, synthetic knowledge synthesis was used to induce the research landscape of the contemporary research literature on the use of AI in software engineering. The synthesis resulted in 15 research categories and 5 themes—namely, natural language processing in software engineering, use of artificial intelligence in the management of the software development life cycle, use of machine learning in fault/defect prediction and effort estimation, employment of deep learning in intelligent software engineering and code management, and mining software repositories to improve software quality. The most productive country was China (n = 2042), followed by the United States (n = 1193), India (n = 934), Germany (n = 445), and Canada (n = 381). A high percentage (n = 47.4%) of papers were funded, showing the strong interest in this research topic. The convergence of AI and software engineering can significantly reduce the required resources, improve the quality, enhance the user experience, and improve the well-being of software developers. Applying prediction models to software engineering is an interesting research area. There have been many related studies which leverage prediction models to achieve good performance in various software engineering tasks. With more and more researches in software engineering leverage prediction models, there is a need to sort out related studies, aiming to summarize which software engineering tasks prediction models can apply to and how to better leverage prediction models in these tasks. This article conducts a comprehensive taxonomy on prediction models applied to software engineering. We review 136 papers from top conference proceedings and journals in the last decade and summarize 11 research topics prediction models can apply to. Based on the papers, we conclude several big challenges and directions. In this paper, a new method that computes the aesthetics of a melody fragment is proposed, starting from dissonances. While music generated with artificial intelligence applications may be produced considerably more quickly than human-composed music, it has the drawback of not being appreciated like a human composition, being many times perceived by humans as artificial. For achieving supervised machine learning objectives of improving the quality of the great number of generated melodies, it is a challenge to ask humans to grade them. Therefore, it would be preferable if the aesthetics of artificial-intelligence-generated music is calculated by an algorithm. The proposed method in this paper is based on a neural network and a mathematical formula, which has been developed with the help of a study in which 108 students evaluated the aesthetics of several melodies. For evaluation, numerical values generated by this method were compared with ratings provided by human listeners from a second study in which 30 students participated and scores were generated by an existing different method developed by psychologists and three other methods developed by musicians. Our method achieved a Pearson correlation of 0.49 with human aesthetic scores, which is a much better result than other methods obtained. Neuropsychiatric disorders affect the lives of individuals from cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects, impact the quality of their lives, and even lead to death. Outside the medical area, these diseases have also started to be the subject of investigation in the field of Artificial Intelligence: especially Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision. The usage of NLP techniques to understand medical symptoms eases the process of identifying and learning more about language-related aspects of neuropsychiatric conditions, leading to better diagnosis and treatment options. This survey shows the evolution of the detection of linguistic markers specific to a series of neuropsychiatric disorders and symptoms. For each disease or symptom, the article presents a medical description, specific linguistic markers, the results obtained using markers, and datasets. Systematic reviews are cumbersome yet essential to the epistemic process of medical science. Finding significant reports, however, is a daunting task because the sheer volume of published literature makes the manual screening of databases time-consuming. The use of Artificial Intelligence could make literature processing faster and more efficient. Sentence transformers are groundbreaking algorithms that can generate rich semantic representations of text documents and allow for semantic queries. In the present report, we compared four freely available sentence transformer pre-trained models (all-MiniLM-L6-v2, all-MiniLM-L12-v2, all-mpnet-base-v2, and All-distilroberta-v1) on a convenience sample of 6110 articles from a published systematic review. The authors of this review manually screened the dataset and identified 24 target articles that addressed the Focused Questions (FQ) of the review. We applied the four sentence transformers to the dataset and, using the FQ as a query, performed a semantic similarity search on the dataset. The models identified similarities between the FQ and the target articles to a varying degree, and, sorting the dataset by semantic similarities using the best-performing model (all-mpnet-base-v2), the target articles could be found in the top 700 papers out of the 6110 dataset. Our data indicate that the choice of an appropriate pre-trained model could remarkably reduce the number of articles to screen and the time to completion for systematic reviews. Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) evaluation has grown significantly due to its extensive adoption, and the catastrophic consequence of misinterpreting sensitive data, especially in the medical field. However, the multidisciplinary nature of XAI research resulted in diverse scholars possessing significant challenges in designing proper evaluation methods. This paper proposes a novel framework of a three-layered top-down approach on how to arrive at an optimal explainer, accenting the persistent need for consensus in XAI evaluation. This paper also investigates a critical comparative evaluation of explanations in both model agnostic and specific explainers including LIME, SHAP, Anchors, and TabNet, aiming to enhance the adaptability of XAI in a tabular domain. The results demonstrate that TabNet achieved the highest classification recall followed by TabPFN, and XGBoost. Additionally, this paper develops an optimal approach by introducing a novel measure of relative performance loss with emphasis on faithfulness and fidelity of global explanations by quantifying the extent to which a model's capabilities diminish when eliminating topmost features. This addresses a conspicuous gap in the lack of consensus among researchers regarding how global feature importance impacts classification loss, thereby undermining the trust and correctness of such applications. Recommendations are provided to address these challenges and ethical issues, along with examples of existing regulations and strategies for implementing AI governance frameworks within organizations. This paper highlights innovation, regulation, and ethical issues in relation to AI within the banking and finance sectors. Analyzes the previous literature, and suggests strategies for AI governance framework implementation and future research directions. Innovation in the applications of AI integrates with fintech, such as preventing financial crimes, credit risk assessment, customer service, and investment management. These applications improve decision making and enhance the customer experience, particularly in banks. Existing AI regulations and guidelines include those from Hong Kong SAR, the United States, China, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and Singapore. Challenges include data privacy and security, bias and fairness, accountability and transparency, and the skill gap. Therefore, implementing an AI governance framework requires rules and guidelines to address these issues. This paper makes recommendations for policymakers and suggests practical implications in reference to the ASEAN guidelines for AI development at the national and regional levels. Future research directions, a combination of extended UTAUT, change theory, and institutional theory, as well as the critical success factor, can fill the theoretical gap through mixed-method research. In terms of the population gap can be addressed by research undertaken in a nation where fintech services are projected to be less accepted, such as a developing or Islamic country. A digital microscope plays a crucial role in the better and faster diagnosis of an abnormality using various techniques. There has been significant development in this domain of digital pathology. Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a genetic disorder that affects hemoglobin in red blood cells. The traditional method for diagnosing sickle cell disease involves preparing a glass slide and viewing the slide using the eyepiece of a manual microscope. The entire process thus becomes very tedious and time consuming. This paper proposes a semi-automated system that can capture images based on a predefined program. It has an XY stage for moving the slide horizontally or vertically and a Z stage for focus adjustments. The case study taken here is of SCD. The proposed hardware captures SCD slides, which are further used to classify them with respect to normal. They are processed using deep learning models such as Darknet-19, ResNet50, ResNet18, ResNet101, and GoogleNet. The tested models demonstrated strong performance, with most achieving high metrics across different configurations varying with an average of around 97%. There is a pressing need for healthcare conversational agents with domain-specific expertise to ensure the provision of accurate and reliable information tailored to specific medical contexts. Moreover, there is a notable gap in research ensuring the credibility and trustworthiness of the information provided by these healthcare agents, particularly in critical scenarios such as medical emergencies. Pilgrims come from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, often facing difficulties in accessing medical advice and information. Establishing an AI-powered multilingual chatbot can bridge this gap by providing readily available medical guidance and support, contributing to the well-being and safety of pilgrims. In this paper, we present a comprehensive methodology aimed at enhancing the reliability and efficacy of healthcare conversational agents, with a specific focus on addressing the needs of Hajj pilgrims. Our approach leverages domain-specific fine-tuning techniques on a large language model, alongside synthetic data augmentation strategies, to optimize performance in delivering contextually relevant healthcare information by introducing the HajjHealthQA dataset. Additionally, we employ a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) module as a crucial component to validate uncertain generated responses, which improves model performance by 5%. Moreover, we train a secondary AI agent on a well-known health fact-checking dataset and use it to validate medical information in the generated responses. Our approach significantly elevates the chatbot's accuracy, demonstrating its adaptability to a wide range of pilgrim queries. We evaluate the chatbot's performance using quantitative and qualitative metrics, highlighting its proficiency in generating accurate responses and achieve competitive results compared to state-of-the-art models, in addition to mitigating the risk of misinformation and providing users with trustworthy health information. Sarcasm is an integral part of human language and culture. Naturally, it has garnered great interest from researchers from varied fields of study, including Artificial Intelligence, especially Natural Language Processing. Automatic sarcasm detection has become an increasingly popular topic in the past decade. The research conducted in this paper presents, through a systematic literature review, the evolution of the automatic sarcasm detection task from its inception in 2010 to the present day. No such work has been conducted thus far and it is essential to establish the progress that researchers have made when tackling this task and, moving forward, what the trends are. This paper reviews the research on adaptive serious games for programming regarding the implementation of their support systems. Serious games are designed to educate players in an entertaining and engaging manner. A key element in terms of meeting their educational goals is the presentation of the learning content through a support system. Recent developments in artificial intelligence, data analysis, and computing made the development of support systems that adapt to player individual characteristics possible. A systematic literature review is necessary to evaluate the efficiency of adaptive supports and examine the implementation approaches. This review identified 18 papers reporting evidence about the efficiency of the provided support and methods of development. A variety of techniques for presenting educational content was found, with text being the preferred type. Researchers employed data-driven approaches to model student knowledge levels and behavior such as Bayesian networks and questionnaires, with fuzzy logic being utilized most frequently. The efficiency of the supports, when compared with non-adaptive or traditional methods of teaching, was mostly positive, although this is not a decisive conclusion. Some papers did not provide empirical evidence or concluded no difference in efficiency. The limited number of articles in the field, together with the lack of a standard evaluation methodology, leads to the conclusion that further work needs to be carried out in the area. This paper proposes the concept of risk-aware actual value as a pivotal metric for evaluating the viability and desirability of AI projects and services in accordance with the AI Act. The framework establishes a direct correlation between the level of risk associated with a product or service and the resulting actual value generated. The AI Act reflects a concerted effort to harness the potential of AI while mitigating risks. The risk-based approach aligns regulatory measures with the specific attributes and potential hazards of distinct AI applications. As trilogue negotiations continue, the regulatory approach of the EU is evolving, highlighting its commitment to responsible and forward-thinking AI governance. Through a dedicated analysis of the AI Act, it becomes evident that products or services categorized as high-risk carry substantial compliance obligations, consequently diminishing their potential value. This underscores the imperative of exercising caution when engaging in projects with elevated risk profiles. Conversely, products or services characterized by lower risk levels are poised to accrue more substantial benefits from their AI and data potential, highlighting the incentive for a discerning approach to risk assessment. Methodologically, we propose an extension of an integrated AI risk management framework that is already existing in the literature, combining it with existing frameworks for measuring value creation from harnessing AI potential. This paper aims to determine whether there is a case for promoting a new benchmark for forecasting practice via the innovative application of generative artificial intelligence (Gen-AI) for predicting the future. Today, forecasts can be generated via Gen-AI models without the need for an in-depth understanding of forecasting theory, practice, or coding. Therefore, using three datasets, we present a comparative analysis of forecasts from Gen-AI models against forecasts from seven univariate and automated models from the forecast package in R, covering both parametric and non-parametric forecasting techniques. In some cases, we find statistically significant evidence to conclude that forecasts from Gen-AI models can outperform forecasts from popular benchmarks like seasonal ARIMA, seasonal naïve, exponential smoothing, and Theta forecasts (to name a few). Our findings also indicate that the accuracy of forecasts from Gen-AI models can vary not only based on the underlying data structure but also on the quality of prompt engineering (thus highlighting the continued importance of forecasting education), with the forecast accuracy appearing to improve at longer horizons. Therefore, we find some evidence towards promoting forecasts from Gen-AI models as benchmarks in future forecasting practice. This research paper presents a comprehensive study on optimizing the critical artificial intelligence (AI) factors influencing cost management in civil engineering projects using a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) approach. The problem addressed revolves around the need to effectively manage costs in civil engineering endeavors amidst the growing complexity of projects and the increasing integration of AI technologies. The methodology employed involves the utilization of three MCDM tools, specifically Delphi, interpretive structural modeling (ISM), and Cross-Impact Matrix Multiplication Applied to Classification (MICMAC). A total of 17 AI factors, categorized into eight broad groups, were identified and analyzed. Through the application of different MCDM techniques, the relative importance and interrelationships among these factors were determined. The key findings reveal the critical role of certain AI factors, such as risk mitigation and cost components, in optimizing the cost management processes. Moreover, the hierarchical structure generated through ISM and the influential factors identified via MICMAC provide insights for prioritizing strategic interventions. The implications of this study extend to informing decision-makers in the civil engineering domain about effective strategies for leveraging AI in their cost management practices. In this systematic literature review, we delve into the realm of intention recognition within the context of digital forensics and cybercrime. The rise of cybercrime has become a major concern for individuals, organizations, and governments worldwide. Digital forensics is a field that deals with the investigation and analysis of digital evidence in order to identify, preserve, and analyze information that can be used as evidence in a court of law. Intention recognition is a subfield of artificial intelligence that deals with the identification of agents' intentions based on their actions and change of states. In the context of cybercrime, intention recognition can be used to identify the intentions of cybercriminals and even to predict their future actions. Employing a PRISMA systematic review approach, we curated research articles from reputable journals and categorized them into three distinct modeling approaches: logic-based, classical machine learning-based, and deep learning-based. Notably, intention recognition has transcended its historical confinement to network security, now addressing critical challenges across various subdomains, including social engineering attacks, artificial intelligence black box vulnerabilities, and physical security. While deep learning emerges as the dominant paradigm, its inherent lack of transparency poses a challenge in the digital forensics landscape. However, it is imperative that models developed for digital forensics possess intrinsic attributes of explainability and logical coherence, thereby fostering judicial confidence, mitigating biases, and upholding accountability for their determinations. To this end, we advocate for hybrid solutions that blend explainability, reasonableness, efficiency, and accuracy. Artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology have emerged as increasingly prevalent and influential elements shaping global trends in Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Namely, the synergistic combination of blockchain and AI introduces beneficial, unique features with the potential to enhance the performance and efficiency of existing ICT systems. However, presently, the confluence of these two disruptive technologies remains in a rather nascent stage, undergoing continuous exploration and study. In this context, the work at hand offers insight regarding the most significant features of the AI and blockchain intersection. Sixteen outstanding, recent articles exploring the combination of AI and blockchain technology have been systematically selected and thoroughly investigated. From them, fourteen key features have been extracted, including data security and privacy, data encryption, data sharing, decentralized intelligent systems, efficiency, automated decision systems, collective decision making, scalability, system security, transparency, sustainability, device cooperation, and mining hardware design. Moreover, drawing upon the related literature stemming from major digital databases, we constructed a timeline of this technological convergence comprising three eras: emerging, convergence, and application. For the convergence era, we categorized the pertinent features into three primary groups: data manipulation, potential applicability to legacy systems, and hardware issues. For the application era, we elaborate on the impact of this technology fusion from the perspective of five distinct focus areas, from Internet of Things applications and cybersecurity, to finance, energy, and smart cities. This multifaceted, but succinct analysis is instrumental in delineating the timeline of AI and blockchain convergence and pinpointing the unique characteristics inherent in their integration. The next-generation "Industrial Internet of Things" (IIoT) will support "Machine-to-Machine" (M2M) communications for smart Cyber-Physical-Systems and Industry 4.0, and require guaranteed cyber-security. This paper explores hardware-enforced cyber-security for critical infrastructures. It examines a quantum-safe "Software-Defined-Deterministic IIoT" (SDD-IIoT), with a new forwarding-plane (sub-layer-3a) for deterministic M2M traffic flows. A "Software-Defined Networking" (SDN) control plane controls many "Software-Defined-Deterministic Wide-Area Networks" (SDD-WANs), realized with FPGAs. The SDN control plane provides an "Admission-Control/Access-Control" system for network-bandwidth, using collaborating Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based "Zero Trust Architectures" (ZTAs). Hardware-enforced access-control eliminates all congestion, BufferBloat, and DoS/DDoS attacks, significantly reduces buffer-sizes, and supports ultra-reliable-low-latency communications in the forwarding-plane. The forwarding-plane can: (i) Encrypt/Authenticate M2M flows using quantum-safe ciphers, to withstand attacks by Quantum Computers; (ii) Implement "guaranteed intrusion detection systems" in FPGAs, to detect cyber-attacks embedded within billions of IIoT packets; (iii) Provide guaranteed immunity to external cyber-attacks, and exceptionally strong immunity to internal cyber-attacks; (iv) Save USD 100s of billions annually by exploiting FPGAs; and (v) Enable hybrid Classical-Quantum networks, by integrating a "quantum key distribution" (QKD) network with a classical forwarding plane with exceptionally strong cyber-security, determined by the computational hardness of cracking Symmetric Key Cryptography. In recent years, rapid advancements in both hardware and software technologies have resulted in the ability to execute artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms on low-resource devices. The combination of high-speed, low-power electronic hardware and efficient AI algorithms is driving the emergence of on-device AI. Deep neural networks (DNNs) are highly effective AI algorithms used for identifying patterns in complex data. DNNs, however, contain many parameters and operations that make them computationally intensive to execute. Accordingly, DNNs are usually executed on high-resource backend processors. This causes an increase in data processing latency and energy expenditure. Therefore, modern strategies are being developed to facilitate the implementation of DNNs on devices with limited resources. This paper presents a detailed review of the current methods and structures that have been developed to deploy DNNs on devices with limited resources. Firstly, an overview of DNNs is presented. Next, the methods used to implement DNNs on resource-constrained devices are explained. Following this, the existing works reported in the literature on the execution of DNNs on low-resource devices are reviewed. The reviewed works are classified into three categories: software, hardware, and hardware/software co-design. The origin of the trademark similarity analysis problem lies within the legal area, specifically the protection of intellectual property. One of the possible technical solutions for this issue is the trademark similarity evaluation pipeline based on the content-based image retrieval approach. CNN-based off-the-shelf features have shown themselves as a good baseline for trademark retrieval. However, in recent years, the computer vision area has been transitioning from CNNs to a new architecture, namely, Vision Transformer. In this paper, we investigate the performance of off-the-shelf features extracted with vision transformers and explore the effects of pre-, post-processing, and pre-training on big datasets. We propose the enhancement of the trademark similarity evaluation pipeline by joint usage of global and local features, which leverages the best aspects of both approaches. Experimental results on the METU Trademark Dataset show that off-the-shelf features extracted with ViT-based models outperform off-the-shelf features from CNN-based models. The proposed method achieves a mAP value of 31.23, surpassing previous state-of-the-art results. We assume that the usage of an enhanced trademark similarity evaluation pipeline allows for the improvement of the protection of intellectual property with the help of artificial intelligence methods. In the realm of artificial intelligence, knowledge graphs have become an effective area of research. Relationships between entities are depicted through a structural framework in knowledge graphs. In this paper, we propose to build a domain-specific medicine dictionary (DSMD) based on the principles of knowledge graphs. Our dictionary is composed of structured triples, where each entity is defined as a concept, and these concepts are interconnected through relationships. This comprehensive dictionary boasts more than 348,000 triples, encompassing over 20,000 medicine brands and 1500 generic medicines. It presents an innovative method of storing and accessing medical data. Our dictionary facilitates various functionalities, including medicine brand information extraction, brand-specific queries, and queries involving two words or question answering. The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) of British Columbia suggested that a paradigm shift from weight to well-being could address the unintended consequences of focusing on obesity and improve the outcomes of efforts to address the challenges facing both individuals and our healthcare system. In this paper, we jointly used artificial intelligence (AI) and participatory modeling to examine the possible consequences of this paradigm shift. Specifically, we created a conceptual map with 19 experts to understand how obesity and physical and mental well-being connect to each other and other factors. Three analyses were performed. First, we analyzed the factors that directly connect to obesity and well-being, both in terms of causes and consequences. Second, we created a reduced version of the map and examined the connections between categories of factors (e.g., food production, and physiology). Third, we explored the themes in the interviews when discussing either well-being or obesity. Our results show that obesity was viewed from a medical perspective as a problem, whereas well-being led to broad and diverse solution-oriented themes. In particular, we found that taking a well-being perspective can be more comprehensive without losing the relevance of the physiological aspects that an obesity-centric perspective focuses on. This paper presents a broad study on the application of the BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) model for multiclass text classification, specifically focusing on categorizing business descriptions into 1 of 13 distinct industry categories. The study involved a detailed fine-tuning phase resulting in a consistent decrease in training loss, indicative of the model's learning efficacy. Subsequent validation on a separate dataset revealed the model's robust performance, with classification accuracies ranging from 83.5% to 92.6% across different industry classes. Our model showed a high overall accuracy of 88.23%, coupled with a robust F1 score of 0.88. These results highlight the model's ability to capture and utilize the nuanced features of text data pertinent to various industries. The model has the capability to harness real-time web data, thereby enabling the utilization of the latest and most up-to-date information affecting to the company's product portfolio. In this paper, we propose autonomous cycles of data analysis tasks for the automation of the production chains aimed to improve the productivity of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the context of agroindustry. In the autonomous cycles of data analysis tasks, each task interacts with the others and has different functions, in order to reach the goal of the cycle. In this article, we identify three industrial-automation processes within the production chain, in which autonomous cycles can be applied. The first cycle is responsible to identify the type of input to be transformed—such as quantity, quality, time, and cost—based on information from the organization and its context. The second cycle selects the technological level used in the raw-material transformation, characterizing the platform of plant processing. The last cycle identifies the level of specialization of the generated product, such as the quality and value of the product. Non-terrestrial network (NTN) is a trending topic in the field of communication, as it shows promise for scenarios in which terrestrial infrastructure is unavailable. Unmanned autonomous intelligent systems (UAISs), as a physical form of artificial intelligence (AI), have gained significant attention from academia and industry. These systems have various applications in autonomous driving, logistics, area surveillance, and medical services. With the rapid evolution of information and communication technology (ICT), 5G and beyond-5G communication have enabled numerous intelligent applications through the comprehensive utilization of advanced NTN communication technology and artificial intelligence. To meet the demands of complex tasks in remote or communication-challenged areas, there is an urgent need for reliable, ultra-low latency communication networks to enable unmanned autonomous intelligent systems for applications such as localization, navigation, perception, decision-making, and motion planning. However, in remote areas, reliable communication coverage is not available, which poses a significant challenge for intelligent systems applications. The rapid development of non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) communication has shed new light on intelligent applications that require ubiquitous network connections in space, air, ground, and sea. However, challenges arise when using NTN technology in unmanned autonomous intelligent systems. Our research examines the advancements and obstacles in academic research and industry applications of NTN technology concerning UAIS, which is supported by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and other low-altitude platforms. Nevertheless, edge computing and cloud computing are crucial for unmanned autonomous intelligent systems, which also necessitate distributed computation architectures for computationally intensive tasks and massive data offloading. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the opportunities and challenges of unmanned autonomous intelligent systems in UAV NTN, along with NTN-based unmanned autonomous intelligent systems and their applications. A question answering (QA) system is a research direction in the field of artificial intelligence and natural language processing (NLP) that has attracted much attention and has broad development prospects. As one of the main components in the QA system, the accuracy of question classification plays a key role in the entire QA task. Therefore, not only the traditional machine learning methods but also today's deep learning methods are widely used and deeply studied in question classification tasks. This paper mainly introduces our work on two aspects of Chinese question classification. The first is to use an answer-driven method to build a richer Chinese question classification dataset for the small-scale problems of the existing experimental dataset, which has a certain reference value for the expansion of the dataset, especially for the construction of those low-resource language datasets. The second is to propose a deep learning model of problem classification with a Transformer + Bi-GRU + Attention structure. Transformer has strong learning and coding ability, but it adopts the scheme of fixed coding length, which divides the long text into multiple segments, and each segment is coded separately; there is no interaction that occurs between segments. Here, we achieve the information interaction between segments through Bi-GRU so as to improve the coding effect of long sentences. Our purpose of adding the Attention mechanism is to highlight the key semantics in questions that contain answers. Game cheating is a common occurrence that may degrade the experience of "honest" players. It can be hindered by using appropriate anticheat systems, which are being considered as a subset of security-related issues. In this paper, we implement and test an anticheat system whose main goal is to help differentiate human players from AI players. For this purpose, we first developed a multiplayer game inside game engine Unity that would serve as a framework for training the reinforcement learning agent. This agent would thus learn to differentiate human players from bots within the game. We implemented the Machine Learning Agents Toolkit library, which uses the proximal policy optimization algorithm. AI players are implemented using state machines, and perform certain actions depending on which condition is satisfied. Advancements in artificial intelligence are leading researchers to find use cases that were not as straightforward to solve in the past. The use case of simulated autonomous driving has been known as a notoriously difficult task to automate, but advancements in the field of reinforcement learning have made it possible to reach satisfactory results. In this paper, we explore the use of the Unity ML-Agents toolkit to train intelligent agents to navigate a racing track in a simulated environment using RL algorithms. The paper compares the performance of several different RL algorithms and configurations on the task of training kart agents to successfully traverse a racing track and identifies the most effective approach for training kart agents to navigate a racing track and avoid obstacles in that track. The best results, value loss of 0.0013 and a cumulative reward of 0.761, were yielded using the Proximal Policy Optimization algorithm. After successfully choosing a model and algorithm that can traverse the track with ease, different objects were added to the track and another model (which used behavioral cloning as a pre-training option) was trained to avoid such obstacles. The aforementioned model resulted in a value loss of 0.001 and a cumulative reward of 0.068, proving that behavioral cloning can help achieve satisfactory results where the in game agents are able to avoid obstacles more efficiently and complete the track with human-like performance, allowing for a deployment of intelligent agents in racing simulators. Neural network (NN) components are being increasingly incorporated into software systems. Neural network properties are determined by their architecture, as well as the training and testing datasets used. The engineering of datasets and neural networks is a challenging task that requires methods and tools to satisfy customers' expectations. The lack of tools that support requirements specification languages makes it difficult for engineers to describe dataset and neural network recognition skill requirements. Existing approaches often rely on traditional ad hoc approaches, without precise requirement specifications for data selection criteria, to build these datasets. Moreover, these approaches do not focus on the requirements of the neural network's expected recognition skills. We aim to overcome this issue by defining a domain-specific language that precisely specifies dataset requirements and expected recognition skills after training for an NN-based system. In this paper, we present a textual domain-specific language (DSL) called SEMKIS-DSL (Software Engineering Methodology for the Knowledge management of Intelligent Systems) that is designed to support software engineers in specifying the requirements and recognition skills of neural networks. This DSL is proposed in the context of our general SEMKIS development process for neural network engineering. We illustrate the DSL's concepts using a running example that focuses on the recognition of handwritten digits. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of validated and updated scientific information to help policy makers, healthcare professionals, and the public. The speed in disseminating reliable information and the subsequent guidelines and policy implementation are also essential to save as many lives as possible. Trustworthy guidelines should be based on a systematic evidence review which uses reproducible analytical methods to collect secondary data and analyse them. However, the guidelines' drafting process is time consuming and requires a great deal of resources. This paper aims to highlight the importance of accelerating and streamlining the extraction and synthesis of scientific evidence, specifically within the systematic review process. To do so, this paper describes the COKE (COVID-19 Knowledge Extraction framework for next generation discovery science) Project, which involves the use of machine reading and deep learning to design and implement a semi-automated system that supports and enhances the systematic literature review and guideline drafting processes. Specifically, we propose a framework for aiding in the literature selection and navigation process that employs natural language processing and clustering techniques for selecting and organizing the literature for human consultation, according to PICO (Population/Problem, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome) elements. As explainability seems to be the driver for a wiser adoption of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare and in critical applications, in general, a comprehensive study of this field is far from being completed. This paper aims to present a concrete experience in using some of these explainability-related techniques in the problem of predicting the size of amino acids in real-world protein structures. In particular, the feature importance calculation embedded in Random Forest (RF) training is compared with the results of the Eli-5 tool applied to the Neural Network (NN) model. Both the predictors are trained on the same dataset, which is extracted from Protein Data Bank (PDB), considering 446 myoglobins structures and process it with several tools to implement a geometrical model and perform analyses on it. The application of artificial intelligence (AI) to dynamic mobility management can support the achievement of efficiency and sustainability goals. AI can help to model alternative mobility system scenarios in real time (by processing big data from heterogeneous sources in a very short time) and to identify network and service configurations by comparing phenomena in similar contexts, as well as support the implementation of measures for managing demand that achieve sustainable goals. In this paper, an in-depth analysis of scenarios, with an IT (Information Technology) framework based on emerging technologies and AI to support sustainable and cooperative digital mobility, is provided. Therefore, the definition of the functional architecture of an AI-based mobility control centre is defined, and the process that has been implemented in a medium-large city is presented. Analysing and understanding donor behaviour in nonprofit organisations (NPOs) is challenging due to the lack of human and technical resources. Machine learning (ML) techniques can analyse and understand donor behaviour at a certain level; however, it remains to be seen how to build and design an artificial-intelligence-enabled decision-support system (AI-enabled DSS) to analyse donor behaviour. Thus, this paper proposes an AI-enabled DSS conceptual design to analyse donor behaviour in NPOs. A conceptual design is created following a design science research approach to evaluate an AI-enabled DSS's initial DPs and features to analyse donor behaviour in NPOs. The evaluation process of the conceptual design applied formative assessment by conducting interviews with stakeholders from NPOs. The interviews were conducted using the Appreciative Inquiry framework to facilitate the process of interviews. The evaluation of the conceptual design results led to the recommendation for efficiency, effectiveness, flexibility, and usability in the requirements of the AI-enabled DSS. This research contributes to the design knowledge base of AI-enabled DSSs for analysing donor behaviour in NPOs. Future research will combine theoretical components to introduce a practical AI-enabled DSS for analysing donor behaviour in NPOs. This paper proposes a novel multimodal generative adversarial network AVSR (multimodal AVSR GAN) architecture, to improve both the energy efficiency and the AVSR classification accuracy of artificial intelligence Internet of things (IoT) applications. The audio-visual speech recognition (AVSR) modality is a classical multimodal modality, which is commonly used in IoT and embedded systems. Examples of suitable IoT applications include in-cabin speech recognition systems for driving systems, AVSR in augmented reality environments, and interactive applications such as virtual aquariums. The application of multimodal sensor data for IoT applications requires efficient information processing, to meet the hardware constraints of IoT devices. The proposed multimodal AVSR GAN architecture is composed of a discriminator and a generator, each of which is a two-stream network, corresponding to the audio stream information and the visual stream information, respectively. To validate this approach, we used augmented data from well-known datasets (LRS2-Lip Reading Sentences 2 and LRS3) in the training process, and testing was performed using the original data. The research and experimental results showed that the proposed multimodal AVSR GAN architecture improved the AVSR classification accuracy. In this paper, we propose a framework to convert American Sign Language (ASL) to English and English to ASL. Within this framework, we use a deep learning model along with the rolling average prediction that captures image frames from videos and classifies the signs from the image frames. The classified frames are then used to construct ASL words and sentences to support people with hearing impairments. We also use the same deep learning model to capture signs from the people with deaf symptoms and convert them into ASL words and English sentences. Based on this framework, we developed a web-based tool to use in real-life application and we also present the tool as a proof of concept. With the evaluation, we found that the deep learning model converts the image signs into ASL words and sentences with high accuracy. The tool was also found to be very useful for people with hearing impairment and deaf symptoms. The main contribution of this work is the design of a system to convert ASL to English and vice versa.
