Sonography is a highly specialized diagnostic imaging profession facing significant workforce challenges due to increased service delivery demands and a shortage of clinical training opportunities. Developing sustainable solutions is crucial for workforce growth. Using examples from the Australian workforce and education context, this paper explores the current sonography training pathways available and the benefits and challenges of each, highlighting the importance of work-integrated learning (WIL) in facilitating the development of professional identity, clinical competence and the quality of sonographer education. Conclusions are drawn that WIL is integral to the future of the sonography profession to improve patient outcomes and address workforce shortages. However, effective implementation requires careful planning and consideration of many factors, including regulatory requirements, industry partnerships, student and supervisor/tutor support, and issues related to equitable access and participation in WIL. Background: The EAPC White Paper addresses the issue of spiritual care education for all palliative care professionals. It is to guide health care professionals involved in teaching or training of palliative care and spiritual care; stakeholders, leaders and decision makers responsible for training and education; as well as national and local curricula development groups. Methods: Early in 2018, preliminary draft paper was written by members of the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) spiritual care reference group inviting comment on the four core elements of spiritual care education as outlined by Gamondi et al. (2013) in their paper on palliative care core competencies. The preliminary draft paper was circulated to experts from the EAPC spiritual care reference group for feedback. At the second stage feedback was incorporated into a second draft paper and experts and representatives of national palliative care organizations were invited to provide feedback and suggest revisions. The final version incorporated the subsequent criticism and as a result, the Gamondi framework was explored and critically revised leading to updated suggestions for spiritual care education in palliative care. Results: The EAPC white paper points out the importance of spiritual care as an integral part of palliative care and suggests incorporating it accordingly into educational activities and training models in palliative care. The revised spiritual care education competencies for all palliative care providers are accompanied by the best practice models and research evidence, at the same time being sensitive towards different development stages of the palliative care services across the European region. Conclusions: Better education can help the healthcare practitioner to avoid being distracted by their own fears, prejudices, and restraints and attend to the patient and his/her family. This EAPC white paper encourages and facilitates high quality, multi-disciplinary, academically and financially accessible spiritual care education to all palliative care staff. The article highlights the integrated and less fragmented post secondary music curriculum advocated by Claire Detel. The author stated that the hard-boundedness that Detels wants to change is a significant problem for music education, thus music teachers need to work to make its boundaries more supple. In addition, music teachers need to carefully think about the kinds of dispositions it requires in order to flourish, to have interdisciplinarity benefit from music education. However, the author contradicts the claim of Detel that specialization and fragmentation are to blame for flagging support for the arts, since the reasons for the problem are more complex than his suggestions.

Researchers often develop teaching-learning solutions to improve the quality of instruction. Some of these solutions are developed in the paradigm of design-based research (DBR). The output of DBR projects goes beyond design products for practice and includes contributions to local theories about teaching-learning in specific subject areas and contexts as well as knowledge about how to design and implement these processes. Design knowledge and contributions to local theories are intended to construct a cumulative, content-specific body of knowledge about teaching and learning that is transferable to related subject areas or contexts. To make this process work, dimensions of DBR need to be systematically reported. However, DBR projects are sometimes criticized for focusing more on practical output than on reports about research output and the form of cooperation with practitioners. The South African Basic Education System does little to provide skills, needed to survive outside the schooling system, for those who do not wish to pursue post-secondary school education. The education system produces secondary school graduates who are poised, as content carriers and an un-employable labour force. A research question grappled with in this paper is whether this secondary school curriculum design inherited from the colonial formal education system is beneficial for South African learners? The paper argues that the continuation of the provision of this curriculum is tantamount to contributing very little to the national educational strategic goals of creating a skilled workforce needed to run the South African economy. Additionally, this also contributes to the exacerbation of the unemployment in South Africa. From a decolonial point of view, the paper provides a comprehensive overview of the basic education curriculum from the colonial period until the contemporary period and shows how it has contributed to huge numbers of jobseekers visa-versa employees and subservient of the curriculum design and schooling system. Methodologically, this paper is informed by a qualitative research approach in the form of document review. The research revealed four major important elements in decolonization of the school curriculum namely; history lesson, social justice and self-determination, formulation and execution of the protection of indigenous knowledge systems and promoting the significance of indigenous languages and use. This paper focuses on how Asante's idea of Afrocentricity could assist in the understanding of the main challenges and opportunities associated with curricula in Africa's post-colonial universities. In terms of methodology, the paper constitutes a conceptual treatise that draws from previous empirical research that focused on Afrocentricity and a plural programme - the extended curriculum programme within a university context where neoliberalism remains dominant. In this regard, the paper combines an extensive review of empirical cases and the authors' experiences of the extended curriculum programmes in diverse South African universities. Literature was reviewed from a wide range of sources that included Afrocentricity and curriculum transformation through plurality at individual and institutional pedagogic levels. The paper explores the complex nature of pedagogic transformation mainly due to the persistence of Western ideals under a resurgent neoliberal philosophy that shapes practices in contemporary university spaces. The paper thus highlights how Afrocentricity transcends simplistic notions of intellectual discussions as it highlights serious and practical realities that shape the identities, ideals, aspirations, and values of students from disadvantaged backgrounds. In the process, ways in which pedagogic educational aspirations of the students could be redefined through an Afrocentric approach together with constraints are discussed. The individualist-oriented complications posed by neoliberal ideals that tend to contradict and, in some instances, hinder the Afrocentric core principle of inclusivity have left African universities at a crossroads with little to show in terms of progress in the transformation agenda. The paper concludes that Afrocentricity and its basis in cultural reconfiguration aims to ensure that people recognise their agency and affirm their identity and ability to draw from their existing agency to holistically transform the various aspects of their lives by overcoming the socio-economic and intellectual constraints. This paper describes the implementation of curricula for Liberia's first-ever psychiatry training programme in 2019 and the actions of the only two Liberian psychiatrists in the country at the time in developing and executing a first-year postgraduate psychiatry training programme (i.e. residency) with support from international collaborators. It explores cultural differences in training models among collaborators and strategies to synergise them best. It highlights the assessment of trainees' (residents') basic knowledge on entry into the programme and how it guided immediate and short-term priority teaching objectives, including integrated training in neuroscience and neurology. There is an ongoing debate in the literature about the ways of using technology to enhance students' Computational Thinking (CT). This special issue further enriches this debate by investigating how educational technology could be used, and for which purposes, to facilitate learning CT. It includes six papers demonstrating the innovative design of curricula and the use of various technologies to teach CT for students in different educational levels. Based on these papers, this special issue points out that more research is needed to investigate the best educational practices that could be used to teach CT rather than focusing on the technology itself. It also reveals that future work could cover smart learning analytics and precision education to better model students' individual differences, hence effectively supporting learning CT. Higher Education (HE) can play a fundamental role in the achievement of sustainable development, and particularly the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as captured in the Incheon declaration. However, what approach HE should take in this mission is a contested space. In this paper, we interrogate the idea of indigeneity. The pursuit to ascertain how an indigenised approach to internationalisation can support or enhance the contribution of HE curricula towards sustainable development is driven by the understanding that for sustainable development to be achieved at all, the process of knowledge creation must strive to make integral those epistemologies that exist beyond the "West"; an understanding that aligns, in particular, with Target 7 of the United Nations (UN) SDG 4 and seeks to empower victims of epistemic violence. In doing so, we employed a bibliographic research which captured a dual approach consisting of a bibliometric analysis of literature and a review of case studies. The findings from both methods suggest that internationalisation appears in different disciplinary contexts, but these are not always aligned with indigenisation. We maintain that the construct of (inter)culturality can address aspects within the framework of indigeneity to boost the internationalisation of HE curricula and outcomes for sustainable development. Central to this are four factors, namely: the need for effective human engagement with (inter)cultural competence, medium/place of curricula interaction, the initiative form and the reach of the development. Background: Despite disproportionate rates of mental ill-health compared with non-Indigenous populations, few programs have been tailored to the unique health, social, and cultural needs and preferences of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males. This paper describes the process of culturally adapting the US-based Young Black Men, Masculinities, and Mental Health (YBMen) Project to suit the needs, preferences, culture, and circumstances of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males aged 16–25 years in the Northern Territory, Australia. YBMen is an evidence-based social media-based education and support program designed to promote mental health, expand understandings of gender and cultural identities, and enhance social support in college-aged Black men. Methods: Our adaptation followed an Extended Stages of Cultural Adaptation model. First, we established a rationale for adaptation that included assessing the appropriateness of YBMen's core components for the target population. We then investigated important and appropriate models to underpin the adapted program and conducted a non-linear, iterative process of gathering information from key sources, including young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males, to inform program curriculum and delivery. Results: To maintain program fidelity, we retained the core curriculum components of mental health, healthy masculinities, and social connection and kept the small cohort, private social media group delivery but developed two models: 'online only' (the original online delivery format) and 'hybrid in-person/online' (combining online delivery with weekly in-person group sessions). Adaptations made included using an overarching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander social and emotional wellbeing framework and socio-cultural strengths-based approach; inclusion of modules on health and wellbeing, positive Indigenous masculinities, and respectful relationships; use of Indigenous designs and colours; and prominent placement of images of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander male sportspeople, musicians, activists, and local role models. Conclusions: This process resulted in a culturally responsive mental health, masculinities, and social support health promotion program for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males. Next steps will involve pilot testing to investigate the adapted program's acceptability and feasibility and inform further refinement. Furthermore, the ethical and societal implications of AI, including potential inequalities and biases, are explored. The response of scholarly publishing communities, illustrated by the iSchool's Student Research Journal's policies, underscores the need for adaptable frameworks to manage AI's impact on research integrity. Work-integrated learning (WIL) is crucial for the development of employability skills and has an influence on employment outcomes. Given the significance of WIL pedagogies for graduate preparedness and transitions into work, concerns have been raised on the barriers to access and participation in WIL for some cohorts of learners. Equity and inclusion in WIL, that is, considerations for diverse learners once enrolled into a subject or course with varying WIL components, is not a new concept with some guidelines purported over a decade ago. Designing WIL to accommodate for equity and inclusion, however, has presented challenges with few studies offering navigation for curriculum design. This paper draws on empirically sound curriculum design principles for inclusion for learner variability through Universal Design for Learning (UDL), to offer the UDL for WIL design framework. The paper presents conceptual and practical contributions for educators of WIL experiences to reduce barriers and integrate student voice to support all graduates’ career transitions. This paper describes a postgraduate training programme in child and adolescent mental health (CAMH) in Nigeria. It explains the background, curriculum development, teaching, evaluation and outcomes. By its 10th year the programme had trained 166 CAMH professionals from 14 African countries. Many of the graduates are running clinical CAMH services in their countries, mostly pioneered by them. They are also conducting CAMH training, including as faculty on the programme, and some are in international CAMH leadership roles. Key success elements of the programme that can be replicated in other low- and middle-income countries include international partnership, adopting a train-the-trainer approach, using a curriculum that covers clinical aspects of CAMH while also developing leadership and research skills, use of free-access training resources, and access to seed funding. The information and communications technology (ICT) industry is making important contributions to economic growth both locally and globally. There is a high demand for ICT professionals that higher education institutions are still struggling to meet. An effective literature review is an important part of understanding the existing findings and issues in the education of future ICT professionals, and for planning future research directions. This comprehensive study presented here includes a review of 761 papers on the level of summary analysis and 155 papers in depth, according to ten research questions related to: curriculum design and delivery, knowledge and skills of future ICT professionals, teaching methods, collaboration between academia and industry, and future employment and career development of ICT professionals in the labor market. Based on the findings from a content and cluster analysis, the results indicate the need for a more holistic and strategic approach to the education of future ICT professionals, including career development support within formal processes of higher education. This paper describes our equity-driven development of a chatbot curriculum for a journalism professional development center’s massive open online courses (MOOCs). A curriculum refers to entire student experiences that occur during the whole learning process in this context. We used a sequential and iterative development process with four phases to research and develop the chatbot curriculum: experimentation, evaluation, research and development reiteration, and implementation and evaluation in an ongoing course. In Phase 1, we tested whether a chatbot interface designed to answer frequently asked questions (FAQs) could provide more equitable student support than traditional FAQ pages, considering the widespread student frustration about FAQ pages. A total of 120 diverse students participated in this phase. In Phase 2, we conducted a case study to contrast the experiences of 27 non-native English users who used the FAQ chatbot, identifying what distinguished their experiences from those of 15 native English user counterparts. Based on this phase’s findings, the chatbot was further trained using an enhanced training set to better support non-native English users. In Phase 3, using a topic analysis result of 3,645 forum discussion posts from the center’s previous 21 courses, we ensured the chatbot’s expertise to cover nine additional topic themes. Phase 4 is where we examine students’ experiences with the chatbot’s latest version as a built-in course tool in MOOCs. This study suggests that systematic research and development of a chatbot curriculum is indispensable to fostering equitable learning environments in MOOCs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: A novel, Project- and Collaborative Learning-based educational method is proposed, implemented and evaluated in this paper. The aim is to exploit hands-on laboratory modules in Vocational Education in order to experientially introduce students to green, ecofriendly practices and the principles of sustainability and circular economy. Besides their apparent individual and social benefits, such knowledge and skills are also expected to raise qualifications and employability of Vocational Education graduates. Methods: The proposed method is tested through a quasi-experimental methodology, via an educational intervention with a class of Vocational Lyceum students, in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The learning content focuses on the reclaiming and reuse of operational components from damaged electrical/electronic equipment at end-of-life stage. Through repeated Analysis and Synthesis phases, students learn to extract, measure, classify and reuse operational components either to repair similar equipment or to design and construct novel devices. Results: Evaluation is carried out via closed and open type activities as well as by observation sheets of the teacher. Learning outcomes are evaluated through knowledge post-tests of the closed type while social/emotional outcomes are evaluated through questionnaires. Evaluation results indicate that the proposed method does produce cognitive and social/emotional skills gains for the students. The development of metacognitive skills and the stimulation of imagination and innovative thinking in the students is also observed by the teacher, but not formally evaluated due to practical constraints. Conclusions: The proposed method is implemented and pilot-tested with positive results both as to the cognitive and as to the social/emotional domain – yet, these results are of an indicative value, due to the limited scale of the educational intervention. Future research is necessary in order to evaluate the proposed method in extent and possibly compare results across education grades or engineering fields, as the method is generic enough to be easily adaptable for different ages/grades and engineering/technical fields of study. Temporal knowledge graph representation approaches encounter significant challenges in handling the complex dynamic relations among entities, relations, and time. These challenges include the high difficulty of training and poor generalization performance, particularly with large datasets. To address these issues, this paper introduces curriculum learning strategies from machine learning, aiming to improve learning efficiency through effective curriculum planning. The proposed framework constructs a high-dimensional filtering model based on graph-based high-order receptive fields and employs a scoring model that uses a curriculum temperature strategy to evaluate the difficulty of temporal knowledge graph data quadruples at each stage. By progressively expanding the receptive field and dynamically adjusting the difficulty of learning samples, the model can better understand and capture multi-level information within the graph structure, thereby improving its generalization capabilities. Additionally, a temperature factor is introduced during model training to optimize parameter gradients, alongside a gradually increasing training strategy to reduce training difficulty. Experiments on the benchmark datasets ICEWS14 and ICEWS05-15 demonstrate that this framework not only significantly enhances model performance on these datasets but also substantially reduces training convergence time. This paper explores the work of a particular document in issuing educational values. The document is the report Embedding Values and Attitudes in Curriculum: Shaping a Better Future, launched in 2021 and published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Inspired by a practice-oriented method of document analysis and the concepts of modifying work and contexting, we show how the issue of values is modified and transformed through the text. We illustrate how different data is used in the transformation with examples from the Nordic countries. Our analysis revealed five modifications that transformed the issue of values from a global societal issue embedded in international and national regulations to an issue defined by the OECD's Learning Compass and its nine competencies. The report gives prominence to the individual learner and competencies needed to navigate towards a future of well-being. Hence, the issue of values is reduced to universal competencies, and the report can manoeuvrer its argument to avoid issuing values as something controversial. Finally, we argue that the ways in which values are issued implies a curriculum design that is not compatible with the traditional curriculum format based on didaktik and Nordic ambitions. Inclusive curriculum development in higher education is increasingly witnessing the development of institutional inclusive curriculum frameworks and toolkits. This ‘on the horizon’ paper introduces one such framework recently developed at a modern university in the South East of England. The IDEAS model (Inclusive learning and teaching, Digital inclusion, Employability learning, assessment for learning, Sustainability mindset) involves a range of distinctive features in both design and scope, and was likewise co-created by colleagues working in the educational development and access and participation domains of academic practice. In a discussion structured by the stages of a traditional quest narrative, the paper relates the genesis, development and early implementation of the IDEAS model and draws attention to some of its distinctive emphases as well as its points of correspondence with wider sectoral initiatives on inclusive curriculum development. Computer cooking is a task-related phenomenon where students (end-users) must blindly follow a long list of orders without any connection to the content of the problem, if there is any. Despite its low efficacy, this method is widely used and accepted in informatics both in the learning-teaching process and testing. The National Base Curriculum 2020 in Hungary is in complete accordance with the 'Informatics Reference Framework for Schools', but the course books hardly use the latest results of computer education research. The present paper provides examples of how the results of computer education research can be integrated into teaching-learning materials and classroom practices and discusses the effectiveness and consequences of the different solutions, where tool-centred approaches are compared to problem-focused solutions. In 2020, the IEEE/ACM Computing Curricula 2020 report, the ACM/AIS/ISCAP Undergraduate Model Curriculum, and the AASCB Standards for Business Accreditation were all released. Each expands on its predecessor to add aspects of disposition to the knowledge, skills, and capabilities in its curriculum. This curriculum is then used to shape, hone, and prepare graduates. Both the CC2020 and IS2020 reports specifically recommend a competency-based curriculum in which dispositions are both a relatively new addition as well as an addition that may be fraught as the consideration and/or adoption process proceeds. The competency model challenges Information Systems curriculum design in two key aspects that are the subject of this paper. First, the “disposition” dimension poses key challenges in the Information Systems discipline and provides a new area of focus in the literature on Information Systems curriculum development. Second, the inclusion of dispositions in the CC2020/IS2020 competency model provides an opportunity to explore interconnections that can be more informative than course containers, course descriptions, and lists of topics. We promote the uptake of the CC2020/IS2020 competency model by focusing on and advocating for dispositions as a means of accounting for, and designing for, students’ becoming as a complement to students’ application of skills and knowledge in the task environment. The “disposition” component of the competency model promises extended expression, facility of comparison, and clarity in exchange to bring utility and understanding in the Information Systems curriculum development process. In Uganda, delays in teaching and learning of Kiswahili in primary schools have been experienced since their establishment in the education systems in the 1920s. At present, the language-in-education policy requires the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) to prepare instructional materials for facilitating the teaching of Kiswahili as a compulsory subject from primary schools to secondary schools. However, the NCDC has been able to produce and launch the Kiswahili teaching syllabi for secondary schools only, delaying the introduction of the teaching syllabi for primary schools. This theoretical paper argues that the absence of a Kiswahili conventional syllabus in primary schools has led teachers to (i) abandon the teaching profession as Kiswahili language teachers, and (ii) attempt 'designing' individual-based (hereafter, school-based) syllabi. The paper intends to demonstrate how the quality of the existing school-based syllabi can be improved and also aims to demonstrate (to language teaching researchers, advisers and language teachers) in general, how teachers can design their respective school-based syllabi purposefully to strengthen the teaching and learning of Kiswahili in their respective schools and classrooms. Clinical reasoning is an essential component of nursing. It has emerged as a concept that integrates the core competencies of quality and safety education for nurses. In cooperation with five European partners, Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal (IPS) realized the "Clinical Reasoning in Nursing and Midwifery Education and Practice" project as part of the Erasmus+ project. As a partner, our team designed a multiplier event—the student training course. The aim of this report is to describe the construction and development of this clinical reasoning training course for nursing students. We outline the pedagogical approach of an undergraduate training course on clinical reasoning in 2023, which we separated into four stages: (i) welcoming, (ii) knowledge exploration, (iii) pedagogical learning, and (iv) sharing experience. This paper presents the learning outcomes of the collaborative reflection on and integration of the clinical reasoning concept among nursing students. This educational experience fostered reflection and discussion within the teaching team of the nursing department regarding the concept, models, and teaching/learning methods for clinical reasoning, with the explicit inclusion of clinical reasoning content in the nursing curriculum. There has been a shift in the professional management of schools which is gradually inclining towards performance-based management. This shift has put emphasis on managing schools to achieve higher learner performance and has put pressure on Departmental Heads (DHs) and teachers to improve outcomes especially in the mathematics subject. The main aim of the study is to explore a myriad of pertinent challenges experienced by DHs in managing mathematics in primary schools. In examining the phenomenon, we deployed an exploratory qualitative research approach. In collecting data, the researchers used the semi-structured interviews to interview [teachers, DHs, the curriculum advisor, principals]. The study was underpinned by the Deming quality management theory. The study provided insights in the myriad challenges and impediments in managing mathematics in primary schools by the heads of departments. The study results include the following: Problems with interpersonal stakeholder relations, lack of disciplinary expertise and specialization, teacher absenteeism and implications, work overload of mathematics heads of department, insufficient support from the educational and local school authority and insubordination, dereliction, and non-cooperation of teachers. Global trends in higher education emphasize the development of curricula that offer greater responsiveness to learners. Creating flexible and responsive curricula will require additional support systems for curriculum management. The first step toward sustainably developing this kind of system is to represent essential curricular information in a way that allows sharing common components across various work processes within the educational environment. The current research implements a new approach for representing curriculum components, by systematically analyzing external source data to extract the basic knowledge, skills and dependencies which then become objects into an ontology. The resulting ontology should act as a computationally-accessible model of the curriculum with sufficient information and usable quality. This paper describes a trial implementation of our approach using actual curriculum documents. China is often seen as a home country of international students in higher education internationalisation. Little is known how Chinese institutions actively engage in multi-modal and multi-lateral internationalised practices. This paper offers an updated insight of higher education internationalisation in a context outside the dominant western landscape through a case study set in an international college in China. Making use of the existing frameworks of internationalisation of the curriculum (IoC), the current case study focuses on three key aspects of the curriculum: program development, student experience and staff perspectives. A mixed-method approach was used to collect data from three sources: institutional archives and course materials, and student and staff surveys. Triangulated data show that the curriculum was well aligned within the existing IoC frameworks. The curriculum incorporated international content and comparative approaches. Local socio-cultural values were also embedded in joint programs. Both students and academics’ perspectives of an internationalised curriculum showed a high level of alignment with the western community. Student and staff data also revealed urgent need to enhance the level of internationalisation, including English competence of discipline academics, people-to-people connection between local Chinese students and incoming international students, student and staff mobility opportunities, and teaching and research development for academic staff. This study hopes to contribute to the current knowledge of internationalisation of the curriculum with updated understanding in a Chinese context. In difficult times of war, total unity in all areas of activity is necessary. Medicine is particularly important during martial law. As part of the development of an integrated military field surgery curriculum, the use of simulation-based learning is challenging due to limited resources at the university level. The aim of this paper is to propose a model for the conceptual design and implementation of an integrated simulation training programme with competency assessment for the development of surgical skills in medical students in the subject of military field surgery. Methods: an educational curriculum development method, specifically tailored for military field surgery training. The method involved defining a context-appropriate goal, which in this case is the integration of a simulation curriculum into the military field surgery curriculum. The results evaluated the logic model methodology that was used to identify learning objectives, available resources and describe the process of implementation and evaluation of the simulation training programme. The logic model methodology was used to develop the logic model methodology, which consisted of five steps: 1) defining the goal, considering the context; 2) using resources; 3) conducting activities; 4) targeting groups; 5) obtaining results in the short, medium, and long term. The model for the conceptual design and implementation of an integrated simulation training programme will allow to integrate simulation into the process of military field surgery education with a realistic approach, considering local resources and continuous evaluation (student satisfaction, activation of competencies in the provision of medical care and impact on the organisation of care). In conclusion, following the approach to competencies in the military field surgery programme, the logic model will lead to the design, implementation, and evaluation of the simulation training programme with the potential for change throughout the project. This paper describes how learner-constructed Augmented Reality was used in an intervention among science undergraduates in Taiwan, to help their course instructor have a clearer understanding of how novices in chemistry approach and seek to make sense of key concepts in this discipline. The intervention was carried out in the latter half of 2018 using a freely-available app which could be downloaded to any smartphone or tablet which supports Augmented Reality. The undergraduates were introduced to the app and used its affordances as part of their course activities in chemistry. We have termed the pedagogical approach described in this paper as Learner-Generated Augmentation. The intervention and pedagogical approach reported in this paper has potential implications on the design and adoption of subsequent applications of Augmented Reality in contexts of learning; this is because - at the very least - the approach described can be implemented at a lower cost of time, money, and manpower than earlier efforts at integrating Augmented Reality in to learning designs. Results of surveys administered to participants are shared in this paper, as are samples of learnerconstructed artifacts in Augmented Reality. The emergence and widespread adoption of biotechnology have had a profound impact on various aspects of human life, including the educational technology environment. This paper examines the impact of bio-commercial technology on modern educational technology environment, exploring the ways in which biotech has influenced teaching and learning practices, curriculum development, and education administration. The paper also considers the ethical and societal implications of the integration of biotech into education, highlighting the need for responsible and informed decision-making. The study draws on a review of relevant literature and case studies to provide a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between bio-commercial technology and modern educational technology environment. The findings suggest that biotech has the potential to enhance educational technology, providing opportunities for new learning experiences, skills development, and research collaborations. However, it also poses challenges related to privacy, equity, and safety. "Decolonizing the mind" (Ngugi) is an ongoing task, even after 50 years or more of political independence. This is particularly the case with respect to theological education, where norms and structures still faithfully follow the Western pattern laid down in the colonial era. New initiatives in theological curriculum development that authentically connect with African issues and concerns and enable theological institutions to break from the shackles of these are an ongoing need, with developments on the African continent making such initiatives ever more urgent. This paper describes and analyzes the pioneering approach of the Akrofi-Christaller Institute (ACI), an indigenous Ghanaian institution, the background to its emergence and the process of implementation over the course of the past 25 years that has produced a successful, full-orbed and wide-ranging theological curriculum connecting with religious, cultural, social and inter-faith issues; the facilitating factors and the challenges on the journey and lessons that could be learned by other institutions wishing to indigenize their curricula. It is hoped that Kwame Bediako's thinking on curriculum design for theological education which has shaped the ACI story of curriculum innovation, as well as the story of its implementation and ongoing development, may provide a model for other institutions desirous of breaking free from the colonial mode, in Africa and beyond in the non-Western world, and facing similar issues. After briefly setting ACI in its historical context, the paper goes on to elucidate the overall vision of the Institute that undergirds the curriculum and provides the rationale for its development. It identifies the fundamental pillars on which the curriculum rests and outlines a model for the basic framework of the curriculum. It then goes on to analyze the ways in which such a vision and framework enable a fresh approach to what has hitherto been seen as normative in the theological disciplines, with a view to creating space in the curriculum to address present-day African (and other non-Western) felt needs in mission and ministry. The paper touches on more recent developments to the original curriculum in response to emerging contextual issues and concludes with possible lessons that may be learned from the ACI story. This paper enlists Paulo Freire's work to explore the interplay between technology and pedagogy from a decolonial approach, thus stressing the importance of adopting a critical stance to the facilitation of digital education experiences. It starts by denouncing digital education as entrapped in digital capitalism, contending how curricular practices are likely to be subjugated to technological function. Through such a conceptual lens, digital curriculum design is explored from a perspective of learning solidarity, aiming to disrupt the instrumentalization of education and creating educational experiences that cater for a humanizing process of education. Extending beyond technology, artificial intelligence (AI) is fundamentally changing how people live. It plays a key role in determining the competitiveness of countries and companies and is expected to change the competitive landscape of existing industries fundamentally. The better people understand AI, the better they can utilize it effectively and safely. Therefore, preparing a strategy to ensure that all citizens have access to AI education is important. This study aims to develop an AI liberal arts curriculum to improve the general public's ability to utilize and understand AI. Through literature analysis, AI core competencies for the general public were derived. The core competencies are Adaptability, Public Interest Consideration, Creative and Convergent Thinking, Collaboration, Computational Thinking, and Artificial Intelligence Literacy. The AI curriculum was designed considering AI core competencies, and the validity of the experts was verified for AI technology and education experts. We also conducted a comparative analysis of the content and level of AI curriculum for the general public based on the results of word frequency and topic modeling analysis of AI educationrelated papers collected from the Web of Science. The areas of the AI curriculum consisted of understanding artificial intelligence, application of artificial intelligence, and artificial intelligence. This study is significant in that the topics discovered are based on the frequency of words extracted from many AI education-related documents, and the results of topic modeling are considered in the curriculum development process. The Four-Dimensional Curriculum Framework (4DF) was first published in Focus on Health Professional Education in 2013. It was created in response to a gap in the literature for a curriculum development tool for interprofessional health that could navigate the challenges associated with conceptualising shared educational opportunities across siloed health professional programs. Its four interconnecting dimensions emphasise the dynamic interplay between curricular elements, highlighting the fact that curriculum design is rarely linear. As a theoretical curriculum framing tool, it facilitates the articulation of big picture considerations when designing learning and teaching activities. Since 2013, it has been cited 60 times by researchers and educators across the globe, indicating that it has been used largely as it was originally intended--to interrogate the purpose and effectiveness of a curriculum in broad terms. This paper revisits the features of the 4DF and, in the light of its application in the literature, explores opportunities to expand its functionality from a theoretical framing tool to one that also provides a practical application of the framework. In the realm of software development, automated program repair (APR) emerges as a pivotal technique, autonomously debugging faulty code to boost productivity. Despite the notable advancements of large pre-trained language models of code (PLMCs) in code generation, their efficacy in complex tasks like APR remains suboptimal. This limitation is attributed to the generic development of PLMCs, whose specialized potential for APR is yet be to fully explored. In this paper, we propose a novel approach designed to enhance PLMCs' APR performance through source code augmentation and curriculum learning. Our approach employs code augmentation operators to generate a spectrum of syntactically varied yet semantically congruent bug-fixing programs, thus enriching the dataset's diversity. Furthermore, we design a curriculum learning strategy, enabling PLMCs to develop a deep understanding of program semantics from these enriched code variants, thereby refining their APR fine-tuning prowess. We apply our approach across different PLMCs and systematically evaluate it on three benchmarks: BFP-small, BFP-medium, and Defects4J. The experimental results show that our approach outperforms both original models and existing baseline methods, demonstrating the promising future of adapting PLMCs for code debugging in practice. This article is an introduction to the rich domain of curriculum studies with specific reference to science teaching and learning. It is designed not as a systematic review or theoretical treatise but rather as an overview for those charged with transforming science content and processes into a classroom curriculum. In other words, while written from the scholarly perspective of curriculum studies, the hope is that it will be seen by teachers as a set of possibilities rather than recommendations while reminding educators that what happens in classrooms to students and their parents is the curriculum, but it is only one of many that might have been delivered. To accomplish this, this paper explores the complex definition of curriculum including the notions of the kinds of curriculum from null, to formal, received, and learned with an emphasis on what occurs as a specific curriculum design results in effective and even faulty learning, a unique consequence proposed here. Next, we explore the common curriculum ideologies or orientations including those focused on academic advancement, tradition, student-centeredness, and social improvement. Finally, a formal recommendation for the content of science instruction in the U.S.—the Next-Generation Science Standards, is are considered as a conclusion by applying the expansive perspective of the term and nature of curriculum discussed throughout. The article focuses on the study which attempts to employ curricular reformation in undergraduate biological education. The study is done through the use of two exercises, which are both part of a course in developmental biology at the University of Toledo. The first exercise is "Cytodifferentiation: Formation of Multinucleated Myotubes in vitro," in which students are asked to observe changes in the experimented cells. The second exercise is "Cell Aggregation: Formation of Multicellular Systems," in which students are asked to investigate one or two influences on aggregation. Through these exercises, the students were able to realize that more exercises should be adapted in other subjects as well for learning purposes.

The shortage of primary care physicians is a growing crisis that threatens the stability and effectiveness of healthcare systems. This paper explores a multi-pronged approach to addressing this issue by focusing on the modernization of medical curricula, the establishment of new medical schools, fostering collaboration between institutions, and implementing policy innovations. The cases of South Tyrol, Italy, and Tyrol, Austria, are examined to highlight the challenges faced in establishing new medical schools. This paper proposes that a comprehensive strategy, including the incorporation of general practice content and experience in medical education, is crucial for preparing future physicians for careers in primary care. Furthermore, intensifying efforts to establish new medical schools, particularly in regions such as South Tyrol, which lack native-language medical university education, can provide additional benefits in addressing regional needs and augmenting the number of graduates. Collaboration between existing and new medical schools, regional partnerships, and policy innovations are essential to support the establishment of institutions with a particular focus on general practice and the modernization of curricula at existing universities. This paper forms part of a larger study that examined the effectiveness of a targeted social and emotional program to re-engage early adolescents who were already showing signs of disengaging from schooling. Using qualitative methodology, data for this paper come from an in-depth interview with the teacher/facilitator of the program presented as six individual vignette case studies. Each vignette highlights the individual challenges and outcomes of a student who had completed the TLC program. These student cases represented the types of disengaging behaviours students who entered the program were displaying. Findings indicate this short-term targeted social and emotional program is highly successful in re-engaging these students with sustained benefits. The authors call for more awareness of and education for teachers to have the skills to embed targeted social skills when planning their curriculum. WE USED BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS TO evaluate the citations associated with publications by trainees in the Fogarty International Center's International Research Ethics Education and Curriculum Development program. Papers published between 2004 and 2008 were identified for analysis. The outcome measures were total citations, h-index, and i-10. A total of 328 manuscripts were identified, with a yearly average of 66 publications and 363 citations. The median number of citations per paper is 3 (IQR Q1-Q3:6). 12.6% (n = 53) of papers were cited over 10 times and the h-index is 22, indicating that 22 papers had been cited at least 22 times. The data indicate that trainees have been productive and contributed to the scholarly literature. Future studies to benchmark this performance with other bioethics education programs are required to make interpretation of citation analysis more meaningful. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aims to investigate the training requirements of diverse target groups engaged with logistics and supply chain management in the agri-food industry focusing on cereals and rice, and deploy the findings for the development of an e-training program. A field research was conducted with personal interviews to mainly logistics department supervisors of more than 150 firms, in order to detect gaps in their skills and competencies on the application of green practices in the agri-food supply chain. As a result, an e-training program was developed to support trainees to enhance their knowledge and skills in the field, and in turn to increase agri-food supply chain effectiveness and competitiveness. This paper also presents the curriculum content development, which was based on training needs analysis. Cultural competence is a phenomenon that straddles many disciplines and fields of study. There is no settled definition of the term, and it is argued that this is not necessary to explore or discuss the phenomenon as it is context-dependent across diverse societies. Explorations of cultural competence in clinical education and training are well-established, but there has been less attention towards its expression in the field of developing healthcare leaders. There is a debate about whether cultural competence is best achieved primarily through training-based educational inputs or by being infused in all areas of curriculum development. Using an exploration of selected literature followed by the case of an ambitious set of leadership development programmes in the English National Health Service, this paper explores the balance and interdependencies of cultural competence in healthcare leadership development as knowledge, skills and attitudes. The paper concludes that it is important for educators in this field to provide space for reflection, develop skills of reflexivity and facilitate sensitive discussions of sometimes contested ideas and concepts. A further evaluation of the impact of teaching and learning interventions, while mapping developments in perceptions of knowledge, skill and attitudes would be an area ripe for future research. This paper provides a description of the multimodal curriculum design and meaning making processes in what we call a Culturally Sustaining Systemic Functional Linguistics (CS SFL) praxis, developed in the context of an integrated youth and preservice teacher afterschool program. Informed by Halliday's theory of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), in this paper we pay special attention to the mode continuum in our interactive curriculum that we designed to support multi semiotic meaning making and creative re-mixing processes of youth engaged in relational and civic work.
