Expectations in terms of content and novelty, together with future challenges are also covered. The article discusses a study which examines the sulfur content, bacterial content and level of sulfur and nitrogen leaching for commercial insulating papers. It explores the experimental method used such as sulfur analysis, bacteria analysis and leaching analysis. The study uses insulating electrical papers from well-known manufacturers and evaluates their Kraft and thermally upgraded qualities. It is concluded that different insulating papers contain significant amounts of sulfur which showed little migration. The increase of nitrogen content in oil exposed to thermally upgraded paper is said to suggest that migration from a transformer paper contributes to the amount of nitrogen-containing substances found in transformer oil.

The article presents a survey which examines the life-cycle assessment (LCA) applications in the pulp and paper industry. It is stated that LCA is a significant tool for determining the environmental burden of the industry's products at all stages. The authors classified the use of LCA applications into six categories including the comparison of products having the same function, evaluation of new products and the comparison of waste management options. Results revealed that the most sensitive category to LCA application is the comparison of products with the same function.

Technological advances in tea production are critical to meet global demands for tea consumption. To illuminate differences in the scientific and commercial relevance of research programs between major tea-related research organizations around the world, we conducted a bibliometric analysis comparing the scientific outputs, including peer-reviewed publications and patents, of six major research organizations published between January 01, 2008 and July 11, 2020. For this competitive ranking analysis, we examined a number of papers, research topics, academic influence, capacity for development, capacity for collaboration, and capacity for technological innovation. Among the six research organizations, Anhui Agricultural University (in China) had the most publications, while the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Tea Research Institute showed a higher capacity for development. The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (in India) and the University of Shizuoka (Japan) both showed high academic influence, while the University of Shizuoka, Tea Research Association Tocklai and National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (Japan) showed a high capacity for collaboration. The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Tea Research Institute applied for the most patents, while the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research applied for the most international patents. The aim of this special issue is to encourage original and latest contributions, and to review and survey research and development on industrial intelligence-driven production and operations management, focusing on state-of-the-art and potential future approaches and technologies and providing a good starting point for researchers entering these research areas. Then, to evaluate the tolerance and persistence capabilities of MSC under supply and demand uncertainties, a graph-based operational robustness analysis method of the IIoT platform for MSC is proposed. The benefits of many breakthroughs in biotechnology, health, and medicine have often been restricted by the high cost and the limited availability of tests and application devices. There is a need for low-cost bioassays for biotechnological applications and health diagnostics. To facilitate quality health care to resource-limited regions, the point-of-care devices needs to be affordable, sensitive, user-friendly, rapid, and robust. Paper is an ideal ingredient to develop disposable bioassay devices. Bioactive papers can be used to develop paper-based analytical devices for clinical diagnosis, assessing organ dysfunction, and detecting infectious diseases and microorganisms. Bioactive papers can also be used as antibacterial papers in healthcare and food packaging. At present the paper diagnostics is a multibillion-dollar market. Considering the product range and applications in health sector the market potential of bioactive papers is very high. In the construction sector, the new Industry 4.0 and circular economy paradigms are currently playing an increasingly important role in order to respond to demands for energetic efficiency, optimisation of resource usage, automation and production activities monitoring. Therefore, this article aims to at illustrate industrial research and an experimental development activity that led to the creation of an innovative product named MULTIFId. It consists of an intelligent, economical and low-emission panel, made with waste from the paper and cardboard industrial manufacturing process which intends to contribute to the development of the fundamental enabling technology of "Advanced Materials" for Intelligent Factories. Revenue sharing contracts (RSCs) have gained considerable popularity over the past two decades—particularly among prominent platform distributors such as the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon— and have therefore attracted a great deal of research attention in the domain of supply-chain management. This study is the first to review the literature dealing with RSCs, a literature in which the number of articles has been growing consistently over the years. Specifically, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the state of the art of the research field, and to identify potentially fruitful areas for further exploration. To this end, we have carried out a content analysis of 148 carefully selected papers that address various aspects of RSCs in the domains of operations research and operations management. Our survey classifies and discusses the reviewed papers along numerous dimensions of interest, including the types of contract they incorporate and the research questions they address. We provide mathematical formulations of the two RSC structures that are most prevalent in research and in practice: (i) a wholesale-price contract that incorporates an added revenue-sharing mechanism; and (ii) a consignment contract with revenue sharing. Production planning and control (PPC) systems that employ aspects from both make-to-order (MTO) and make-to-stock (MTS) production control are known as hybrid MTS/MTO systems. While both MTO and MTS separately have been studied extensively, their combined use has received less attention. However, the literature on this topic is growing and this paper shows that the review performed in this paper is an important addition to the field. We categorise relevant literature according to a novel taxonomy and show that hybrid MTS/MTO production control can be used in different contexts. In addition, an overview of the modelling techniques and methods used in these papers is provided. Based on the reviewed literature, relevant research questions and directions for future research are identified. Finally, it is shown that hybrid MTS/MTO production control is prevalent in practice by discussing research with industrial applications. The paper contains an overview of research on hybrid MTS/MTO production control to be used as reference for researchers active in the field, and provides managerial insights and directions for future research on this topic. This paper explores and presents the importance and application of the Design of Experiments (DOE) method in scientific and industrial research. It analysed the theoretical foundations of the method in detail and then illustrated concrete examples as well as benefits of its use in an automotive environment. The introduction outlined the key principles and objectives of the DOE method, including optimisation of experimental processes and minimisation of variability of results. The publication focused on the significant impact of this method in improving the efficiency of experiments and achieving reliable and reproducible results. The practical part of the paper presented concrete examples of the application of the DOE method in the automotive industry. Through this case study, it was highlighted how the DOE method enables the systematic investigation of the influence of different factors on experimental results, leading to a better understanding of the phenomena under investigation and an increase in process efficiency. Emphasis was also placed on the practical aspects of using the DOE method, including the design of experimental plans and the analysis of the data obtained. The case study outlined the challenges and benefits that can arise when implementing this method and presents new perspectives for future research in statistical experimental analysis. Overall, this research paper can be considered an important resource for researchers and practitioners seeking effective methods for planning and conducting experiments to achieve significant research results in various disciplines. The article reports on new optimizing tools that can make a difference for paper and board makers. New optimization tools allow changes in three or four parameters at the same time. With this approach it is possible to discover interactions between different parameters. The Expert system from Albany International Corp. is an example of the multiple-parameter approach. expert is based on design of experiment. With the Expert method, techniques make purposeful changes to input factors of the wet end process, and track the effects on the output.

This article reports on the 2003 Council for Hospitality Management Education Hospitality Research Conference in Great Britain. Each year, the conference is hosted by different institutions in Great Britain. The aims of the Hospitality Research Conference are to promote and enhance the quality of research in hospitality management by enabling researcher to share effective practice and to encourage and support research students, and others who may be new to research and its dissemination. The theme of the conference was Trends and Developments in Hospitality Research, and the presentations were based upon full papers and work-in-progress papers. The proceedings and the conference program were divided into seven coherent themes. These were service and service quality; marketing, customers and guests; strategy, structures and performance, including finance; human resource management; food, food safety, food service and dining; education; and tourism. All papers were based on applied industrial research providing the delegates with a variety of issues to debate on enhancing service quality through the identification gaps between expectations and service delivery. These research papers will enhance the contemporary debates that are occurring about consumer behavior within the hospitality industry.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to review and analyse the literature on psychological contract (PC) phenomena to date as well as give future research directions in this research area. Design/methodology/approach: The authors have conducted a bibliometric analysis of 33 years of research on PC. The bibliometric findings have identified various perspectives by drawing the landscape and developmental trajectory of PC research over time. A specific bibliographic analysis and visualization tool VOSviewer was employed to evaluate and process 1999 publications in the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) database from 1989 to 2022, also author citation analysis, journal co-citation analysis, reference analysis and analysis of 100 milestone articles. Findings: The authors detected and visualized the landscape of PC area and track how this landscape has developed. Secondly, the authors present the findings emerged from this study's bibliometric review, with emphasize on future research directions and implications. Originality/value: This paper presents bibliometric analysis of more than 1,000 research articles from main databases and review of 100 most prominent papers on PC research topic. This article offers academicians and researchers a more sophisticated understanding of the intellectual and conceptual framework of the research body. Recently, the intelligent platoon has attracted a lot of attention in both academic and industrial research. For each intelligent platoon, all vehicles drive sequentially in a line, which helps to improve fuel economy and road capacity. Consider two adjacent vehicles in the intelligent platoon, and there is no mechanical boundary between them. However, an intelligent platoon may still suffer from the issues of poor vehicle-following performance during the process of vehicle-following, especially when it obtains its own position and other parameters inaccurately. To address this issue, this paper proposes a model predictive control method based on an improved version of Kalman filtering, aiming to enhance the anti-interference capacity of intelligent platoons in scenarios where the following vehicles have acquired inaccurate parameters resulting from environmental disturbances and sensor noise. Firstly, this paper establishes a three-degree-of-freedom single-track model for the following vehicle, conducting dynamic analysis of its lateral, longitudinal, and yaw movements. Then, this paper develops a horizontal and longitudinal formation driving control frame of the intelligent vehicle platoon. Moreover, this paper also has employed Kalman filtering for interference reduction of state parameters and designs an improved model predictive controller. The proposed scheme is verified and evaluated through a joint simulation within Carsim and MATLAB/Simulink, and the results demonstrate that the longitudinal following error is reduced by 37% and the lateral following error is reduced by 51% compared to traditional algorithms, effectively improving the stability of intelligent vehicle platoons during following driving. Multigroup confirmatory factor analysis was applied to the responses of 4,909 employees of a multinational organization with locations in 50 countries to examine the measurement equivalence of otherwise identical Web-based and paper-and-pencil versions of 20 items comprising the transformational leadership component of Bass and Avolio's Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire. The results supported configural, metric, scalar, measurement error, and relational equivalence across administration modes, indicating that the psychometric properties of the 20 items were similar whether administered as a paper-and-pencil or Web-based measure. Although caution is always advised when considering multiple modes of administration, the results suggest that there are minimal measurement differences for well-developed, psycho-metrically sound instruments applied using either a paper-and-pencil or an online format. Thus, the results open a methodological door for survey researchers wishing to (a) assess transformational leadership with a Web-based platform and (b) compare or combine responses collected with paper-and-pencil and Web-based applications. The article outlines the scope of textile institute publications. The "Journal of the Textile Institute" is published monthly. In papers dealing with research work, the content of the papers should be confined to the description of original work. The monthly publication contains papers that are limited to approximately 3,000 words in length. Papers submitted for publication should be typed with double-line spacing and with an adequate margin at each side. Mathematical formula should be inserted in handwriting. Graphs and line diagrams should be drawn on good-quality white paper or on tracing paper in Indian ink.

This paper is intended to provide a scoping review on interfaces in service modularity. There is little detailed understanding of this concept despite its attributed importance. We identified 12 papers, showing that interfaces in service modularity are an area still open to research, especially with regard to interfaces that cross organisational boundaries. We found common themes in the available literature: the nature of interfaces, service fragmentation and predefined interfaces. Further research is needed on interfaces in service modularity, especially for complex services with components that stem from multiple, autonomous organisations. More specifically, there is a need for more studies that explore in detail how interfaces manifest themselves, and how they can be addressed to improve complex service provision. In addition, we argue why healthcare could be an interesting domain in which to conduct those studies. Our paper’s contribution comprises a detailed description of interfaces in service modularity, the dissemination of summarised research findings and suggestions for potential future research. The Margaret River region (Western Australia) is a popular international tourism destination. Since its emergence in the late 19th century, tourism in the Margaret River region (MRR) has interacted with a number of regional industries including timber, dairy, and wine. These interactions have changed from 'supportive' to 'competing' reflecting various changes in the market and the availability of common local assets such as forest, land, and public funding. While timber and dairy had an important influence on the evolution of tourism in the region, it was the emergence of wine that shifted tourism the most. Using selected concepts of evolutionary economic geography (EEG), mainly path-dependence, path-reformation, interpath relations, and triggering events, this paper demonstrates how tourism has interacted with different other industries and how these interactions have shaped the MRR as a wine-tourist destination. The paper shows how two related triggering events contributed to the emergence of wine-tourism as a new path in the region – a process referred to as 'path-blending'. In this respect, the paper provides empirical evidence that triggering events can result in multiple new paths and can also significantly shape the relations between new and existing regional paths. As such, the paper responds to the call for breaking away with the 'single-path view' in research on industrial evolution, and for more attention to the various relations between tourism and other sectors within a tourist destination. Resource-based regions support national economic development and are essential sources of basic energy and raw materials. In the post-pandemic era, however, there are practical situations to deal with, such as a fractured industrial chain, a weaker industrial structure, and a sharp reduction in economic benefits. Based on data collected from 68 cities in China, from 2010 to 2021, with 816 observations, this paper explores the industrial development process of resource-based regions in China and the change in the toughness of the industrial structure under the impact of COVID-19. The paper studies and analyzes industrial development trends, industrial structure toughness, and spatial spillover effects. The methods used are the Markov chain model and the Industrial Structure Advancement Index. By building the spatial Dubin model, the paper analyzes the spatial spillover effect of regional industrial development. It decomposes the spillover effect using the partial differential model based on regression. The results show that, during the study period, the comprehensive development level of industries in resource-based regions in China was slowly improving and tended to stabilize after entering the post-pandemic era. The evolution of an advanced industrial structure is significantly heterogeneous among regions, and each region has different toughness. The impact of COVID-19 has reduced the toughness of China's resource-based regions' industrial structure. The spatial spillover effect of regional industrial development is significant. Labor force, technology input, and industrial-structure optimization have different impacts on the industrial development of neighboring regions. In the post-pandemic era, China has used new management methods for more innovation. In order to achieve low-carbon, environmental protection, and sustainable development of resources, realize the rapid recovery of the toughness of industrial structure in China's resource-based cities, and reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, China proposes to expand the supply of resources, improve the allocation of resources, optimize the direction, promote the rational flow and efficient aggregation of various factors, and enhance the impetus for innovation and development.
