This paper presents a novel hybrid algorithm that combines the Butterfly Optimization Algorithm (BOA) and Quantum-behavior Particle Swarm Optimization (QPSO) algorithms, leveraging [Math Processing Error] g b e s t to establish an algorithm communication channel for cooperation. Initially, the population is split into two equal subgroups optimized by BOA and QPSO respectively, with the latter incorporating the Lévy flight for enhanced performance. Subsequently, a hybrid mechanism comprising a weight hybrid mechanism, a elite strategy, and a diversification mechanism is introduced to blend the two algorithms. Experimental evaluation on 12 benchmark test functions and the Muskin model demonstrates that the synergy between BOA and QPSO significantly enhances algorithm performance. The hybrid mechanism further boosts algorithm performance, positioning the new algorithm as a high-performance method. In the Muskingum model experiment, the algorithm proposed in this article can give the best sum of the square of deviation (SSQ) and is superior in the comparison of other indicators. Overall, through benchmark test function experiments and Muskin model evaluations, it is evident that the algorithm proposed in this paper exhibits strong optimization capabilities and is effective in addressing practical problems. Humanistic Buddhism is one of the mainstreams of modern Buddhism, with special emphasis on the humanistic dimension. With the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, Humanistic Buddhism is also at an important stage of modernization and transformation, thus facing a continuous negotiation between religious values and technological innovations. This paper first argues that AI is technically beneficial to the propagation of Buddhism by citing several cases in which AI technology has been used in Buddhism. Then, by comparing Master Hsing Yun's Buddhist ethics to "Posthuman" ethics, it points out that the theories of Humanistic Buddhism share similarities with AI and Posthuman ethics. Among them, Master Hsing Yun's theory of "the nature of insentient beings" provides an important theoretical reference for the question of "whether AI can become a Buddha". From the technical and ethical dimensions, it points out that the interaction between Humanistic Buddhism and AI can promote original uses or implementations of AI technology. However, it should also be noted that compared to the cases of "Artificial Narrow Intelligence"discussed in the paper, the "Strong AI" could lead to much more ethical crises. It is also likely to cause the cult of science and technology, and thus subvert the humanistic tradition of Buddhism with a new instrumental rationality. In addition, there are some potential pitfalls that Humanistic Buddhism may encounter when using AI. Hence, while it is necessary to encourage the use of technologies such as AI in contemporary Buddhism, it is also important for Buddhism to keep a critical distance from digital technologies. This paper reviews current progress and future challenges of digital technology applications for energy system transition in the context of net-zero. A list of case studies for such digitization enabled optimal design and operation of energy systems at various temporal and spatial scales are reviewed in the paper, including model predictive control, enterprise-wide optimization, eco-industrial park data management, and smart city. The key technological innovations across these applications, such as virtual representation of physical entities, ontological knowledge base, data-driven high dimensional surrogate model based parameterization are also inspected in the paper. Graph clustering is one of the fundamental tasks in graph data mining, with significant applications in social networks and recommendation systems. Traditional methods for clustering heterogeneous graphs typically involve obtaining node representations as a preliminary step, followed by the application of clustering algorithms to achieve the final clustering results. However, this two-step approach leads to a disconnection between the optimization of node representation and the clustering process, making it challenging to achieve optimal results. In this paper, we propose a graph clustering approach specifically designed for heterogeneous graphs that unifies the optimization of node representation and the clustering process for nodes in a heterogeneous graph. We assume that the relationships between different meta-paths in the heterogeneous graph are mutually independent. By maximizing the joint probability of meta-paths and nodes, we derive the optimization objective through variational methods. Finally, we employ backpropagation and reparameterization techniques to optimize this objective and thereby achieve the desired clustering results. Every interaction with an AI-powered device invokes a vast planetary network. Operating on temporal and geographical scales that go beyond humans, Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems pose various societal and environmental challenges. These challenges encompass issues such as the extraction of both human and nonhuman resources and knowledge, and the reproduction of inequalities. To tackle these concerns, scholars in Design and Human-Computer-Interaction emphasize the urgency for designers to cultivate non-anthropocentric approaches. In the pursuit of establishing a non-anthropocentric design practice for AI, this paper adopts a more-than-human orientation in the design of conversational agents (CAs). We start by presenting a series of design experiments, including workshops, videos and performances, that shed light on the anthropocentric biases ingrained in CA interactions. These experiments unveil how CAs are designed to recognize and address only specific human voices and concerns. Building upon these insights, we introduce two outcomes that chart an alternative path - the first involves a collection of interactive prototypes for CAs that are capable of listening and responding to more-than-human "voices" while the second entails a tool to support designers in noticing more-thanhuman entanglements, in the form of a podcast. To keep pace with global energy efficiency trends and, in particular, emission reduction targets in the maritime sector, both onshore and maritime power distribution systems need to be adapted to the relevant new technologies and concepts. As an important link in the distribution chain, medium-voltage switchgear (MV) is expected to be stable and reliable while operating as efficiently as possible. Failures of MV equipment, while rare because the equipment must be safe to handle and use, have far-reaching consequences. The consequences of such failures, whether to the shore or marine power system, present risks to the entire power plant, so an accurate assessment of equipment condition is required to identify potential failures early. The solution is an emerging concept of digital switchgear, where the implementation of sensor technology and communication protocols enables effective condition monitoring, and the creation of a database that, when combined with machine learning algorithms, enables predictive maintenance and/or fault detection. This paper presents, step by step, the previous challenges, the current research (divided into predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, and fault detection categories), and the future directions in this field. The use of artificial intelligence is discussed to eliminate the disadvantage of manually interpreting operational data, and recommendations for future work are formulated, such as the need to standardize test procedures and data sets to train and compare different algorithms before they are used in practice. In this paper, we investigate the efficacy of an edX-based learning technology and learning environment augmented with artificial intelligence (AI) applications in fostering technological innovation skills among university students. A quasi-experimental design was employed, involving two groups of bachelor's degree students (n = 57) from the College of Education at King Khalid University. The experimental group (n = 28) utilized the edX platform with integrated AI features, while the control group (n = 29) employed the traditional Blackboard platform. Both groups participated in the "Using Computers in Education" course. A pre-post assessment of technological innovation skills was conducted, and the data were analyzed using an independent sample t-test. Results revealed a statistically significant difference in skill development between the groups, favoring the edX platform with AI integration. Floating Nautical Heritage is part of the Italian Cultural Heritage. Within the mission of the PNRR, it is considered to be a strategic branch for the economic, social, and cultural recovery of our country. In this scenario, Design for Cultural Heritage promotes good practices to reconnect heritages, their users and stakeholders through digital technologies and by enhancing the tangible heritage and their intangible dimension. Thanks to this preface, the paper focuses on Nautical Heritage. It is characterized by a great variety of typologies of goods, both material and intangible, which are currently barely enjoyable. Nevertheless, it has great potential from the economic, social, and cultural points of view. By including the Floating Nautical Heritage in the context of the Design for Cultural Heritage, the authors show innovative strategies focused on the concept of museum of proximity. The newly emerging discipline of space design is aimed both to enhance the research into well-being in outer space -- increasing the comfort of the astronauts -- and to generate innovation through the cross-fertilization between living in space and living on earth -- intersecting different areas of knowledge and fields of applications that can be taken from space and translated to earth, and vice-versa, in space jargon, spin-offs and spin-ins. This paper explores some of the consequences of the 1973 oil crisis on Western industrial design. Between 1973 and 1974, on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, designers reacted to the uncertainty caused by the energy crisis with an unprecedented fascination for do-it-yourself solutions. This article discusses Victor Papanek and James Hennessay's Nomadic furniture (1973-74) and Enzo Mari's Proposta per un'autoprogettazione (1974), produced by Dino Gavina within the Simon International Metamobile series in the same year. The scope of this essay is to understand to what extent this sudden surge of interest in DIY furniture design, in the USA and in Italy, can be explained within the historical framework of the 1973 oil crisis. The recent step forward in questioning Artificial Intelligence (AI) creativity, enticed by deep learning models such as GPT and Stable Diffusion, instilled into the design community of educators and practitioners the idea of raising new creative practices worth discussion and analysis. Hence, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and computer vision are filled with encounters of interesting creative responses by robots and are becoming a challenging creative medium for artists and designers (Hemanth, 2023). Digitalization has become a watchword in all areas of economic and social activity, and its integration has become a necessity for every state worldwide. If a few years ago we were talking about technological innovation and cutting-edge technologies we are now talking about digital technologies, robotics, big data, and artificial intelligence, and future industrial production will develop in symbiosis with modern information and communication technology. The paper aims to show the impact of digitalization on macroeconomic indicators, including labor productivity, value-added, and value of exports of goods and services, and in this regard, we have built an econometric model to see how digitalization and the evolution of macroeconomic indicators work, and how they will influence the degree of growth and economic development. The research results verify the hypotheses we started from, namely that there is a positive and strong correlation between digitalization and productivity, as well as between digitalization and value-added, and that there is a positive, yet weaker correlation between digitization and exports. The impact of digitalization on macroeconomic indicators extends beyond the theoretical and practical implications, as they influence both the decision-making process of the companies' management and national and European economic policies. Moreover, the splitting indices of the unperturbed heteroclinic orbits are s and − s (s ≥ 0) , respectively. In this paper, we study the persistence of the heteroclinic loop under periodic perturbation. Using the method of Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction and exponential dichotomies, we obtained the bifurcation function, which is defined from R d 1 + d 2 + 2 to R d 1 + d 2 . This paper is focused on a ratio-dependent predator-prey model with cross-diffusion of quasilinear fractional type. By applying the theory of local bifurcation, it can be proved that there exists a positive non-constant steady state emanating from its semi-trivial solution of this problem. Further based on the spectral analysis, such bifurcating steady state is shown to be asymptotically stable when the cross diffusion rate is near some critical value. The digital banking sector has made tremendous progress in user-friendly, efficient, and rapid financial transactions, owing to the exponential growth of ICT technologies. Consequently, many new banking products, services, and business opportunities have emerged. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of new emerging technologies and architecture that can support the development of intelligent digital banking platforms. This study aims to explore the latest relevant technology to enhance customer experience and minimize human interaction to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The study follows Kitchenham's SLR principles and goes into great depth regarding the process of choosing and analyzing relevant research papers. This research promoted 40 articles that discuss potential emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data, biometrics, and cloud computing. Some key areas of literature were examined, such as technological trends, potential features, and technical solutions. The articles selected were based on specific criteria and used high-quality databases, including IEEE Xplore, Elsevier, SpringerLink, ACM, and AIS. This study considered recent papers published between 2015 and 2021. The study's main contribution is identifying state-of-art digital banking technology trends and proposing digital banking architecture based on the latest technologies. The researcher can use it to reference future research on digital banking, smart banking, and intelligence banking. The findings and recommendations will help foster different approaches to decisions and implications for the bank's management and policymakers in the future development of digital banking. Digital technologies affect all areas and activities of society. Accounting is no exception to this trend, as organizational information system accounting increasingly integrates digital technologies. The paper aims to study the integration of ethical requirements with the quality requirements in implementing digital technologies based on artificial intelligence, blockchain, the internet of things, and cloud computing in financial and managerial accounting. This empirical study of 396 accountants from Romanian organizations involves investigating the influence of ethical and quality requirements of digital technologies on the perception of users' satisfaction in financial and managerial accounting. Empirical research encompasses a quantitative approach using structural equation modeling and artificial neural network analysis in a two-stage procedure. Some of the existing ethical issues can be addressed by implementing new digital technologies but implementing these emerging technologies can generate other ethical and quality issues that accounting and IT professionals must address in a combined effort. The research results show that the ethical requirements that influence the perception of financial and managerial accounting are security and trust. The relevance of this study is due to the introduction of technologies into the legal sphere, as well as their rapid development, which causes the inconsistency of conventional legislation with the emerging social relations. Thus, the purpose of this study was to research the impact of digital technologies on the modern legal society and their legislative regulation to formulate ways to improve and further develop this area. The methods used in this study were the following: historical, comparative legal, statistical, forecasting. The main results of this study are as follows: the concepts of technology, innovation, digitalisation, and artificial intelligence were investigated; the legal regulation of these concepts in both Ukrainian and foreign legislation was examined. The study also identified the main problems and risks associated with the use of digital technologies, including problems related to user security, personal data protection, copyright. Solutions and legislative changes regulating the field of technology were also covered using evidence from the United States of America, Switzerland, Japan, the United Kingdom, Canada. The study analysed the impact of artificial intelligence on the ethical aspects of the work of a lawyer. The study also highlighted the future vision and consequences of the use of technology in various spheres of public life. It was found that digitalisation and the introduction of technology into public spheres of life require flexibility and readiness for change from the legal sphere, as well as the need to strike a balance between innovative changes and the guarantee of fundamental human rights. Considering the international standards that were investigated, it was found that the key area that requires additional protection in the digital age is data privacy and confidentiality. The findings of this study can be used as a basis for improving the legislative framework that governs relations in the field of technology use by lawyers, sociologists, and legislators. Museums are cultural institutions with an important role in preserving history and tradition. But simple care for objects has no relevance, if there is not at least one person who needs that object. Every museum institution, at the micro or macro level, strives to find solutions to become relevant as an institution for the community, that is, for a wide range of visitors, of different ages, identities and social classes. New and innovative ways to engage with visitors (physical and online) and potential visitors are needed in the context of Covid-19 pandemic. This paper seeks to explore the added-value of emerging technologies implemented by museums in their quest to cope with restrictions and offer immersive experiences to their visitors. The restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic further deepened the need of new and innovative ways to engage with visitors, especially where the connection with the public was deficient or at a primary level and relevance to the community could not be demonstrated or quantified. The purpose of this study is to identify the main benefits brought by the implementation of AI technologies in the current activity of museums, by analyzing the best practices from museums that have assumed digital transformation as their main objective and record successful implementation results, from 3 continents: Europe, USA and Australia. In this article, we introduce an AI-enhanced study planning solution named Careerbot, which is a service designed to help students with their "forecasted self". We define a new term "forecasted self" to mean a future-oriented digital twin, where a student can explore several future selves equipped with new, acquired skills for projected future jobs. This narrative review paper explores the diverse applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of dam engineering. Authored by research engineers specializing in civil engineering and data science, and reviewed by experienced dam engineers and AI experts, the paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the subject. The paper is structured into three parts. Part 1 offers a concise introduction to AI, covering its historical background, major categories, and current state of development. In Part 2, the focus shifts to the specific applications of AI in hydropower and dam engineering. This section delves into the utilization of AI for predictive modeling, real-time monitoring, optimization, and planning and design. Notable case studies and examples of machine learning techniques applied to predictive models and numerical simulations in the context of dams and levees are also discussed. Part 3 explores the current and emerging technologies being implemented in the industry, including automated decision-making systems and the use of AI-powered drones for efficient dam inspection. Additionally, the section sheds light on the challenges that must be addressed to fully integrate AI into dam engineering practices. This paper targets dam engineers, AI experts, and individuals interested in the intersection of these fields. Its primary contribution lies in providing a comprehensive and up-to-date review of the applications, challenges, and potential future developments of AI in dam engineering. Over 3300 articles on the intersection of dam engineering and AI were identified, and approximately 550 articles (about 17%) were further processed for inclusion in this study. Breathing is one of the most vital functions for being mentally and emotionally healthy. A growing number of studies confirm that breathing, although unconscious, can be under voluntary control. However, it requires systematic practice to acquire relevant experience and skillfulness to consciously utilize breathing as a tool for self-regulation. After the COVID-19 pandemic, a global discussion has begun about the potential role of emerging technologies in breath-control interventions. Emerging technologies refer to a wide range of advanced technologies that have already entered the race for mental health training. Artificial intelligence, immersive technologies, biofeedback, non-invasive neurofeedback, and other wearable devices provide new, but yet underexplored, opportunities in breathing training. Thus, the current systematic review examines the synergy between emerging technologies and breathing techniques for improving mental and emotional health through the lens of skills development. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology is utilized to respond to the objectives and research questions. The potential benefits, possible risks, ethical concerns, future directions, and implications are also discussed. The results indicated that digitally assisted breathing can improve various aspects of mental health (i.e., attentional control, emotional regulation, mental flexibility, stress management, and self-regulation). A significant finding of this review indicated that the blending of different technologies may maximize training outcomes. Thus, future research should focus on the proper design and evaluation of different digital designs in breathing training to improve health in different populations. Orientation is increasingly in demand, especially today in the age of digital and recent technologies, with the disappearance of some jobs and the emergence of others, and with the variety of choices in front of the students who have led professionals to seek a new method and digital solution to help them solve these issues and achieve their personal and professional success. To improve the fast and efficient distribution of fresh products with dynamic customer orders, we constructed a multi-objective vehicle routing optimization model with the objectives of minimizing the distribution costs including freshness-loss cost, cold-chain-refrigeration cost, and delay-penalty cost, and maximizing customer time satisfaction. An improved multi-objective genetic algorithm (GA)-based particle swarm optimization (MOGAPSO) algorithm was designed to quickly solve the optimal solution for the distribution routes for fresh-product orders from regular customers. Furthermore, online real-time orders of fresh products were periodically inserted into the distribution routes with local optimization solutions by applying a dynamic inserting algorithm. Finally, a case study of a fresh-product distribution company in Shenzhen, China was conducted to validate the practicality of the proposed model and algorithms. A comparison with the NSGA-Ⅱ and MOPSO algorithms showed the superiority of the proposed MOGAPSO algorithm on distribution-cost reduction and customer time-satisfaction improvement. Over the last 20 years a significant progress has been made in the use of digital technologies in the Russian healthcare: a widespread introduction of health information systems (HIS), work with big data, and use of artificial intelligence. Hopes are pinned on IT technologies; it is expected that they will simplify healthcare activities, as well as take the quality of medical care to a new level. Ultimately, it will contribute to a better quality of life for the population. However, certain internal and external factors slow the advance of digital technologies, creating barriers to digital maturity in healthcare. Imperfection of the legal and regulatory framework and insufficient funding of healthcare and innovation have a negative impact on the rate of development and translation of new technologies into medicine. The article considers a low level of digital literacy among health care providers and low level of motivation to make changes in organizational processes as a serious barrier to e-health promotion. Modern Russian research on this topic has identified significant gaps in basic digital skills among health professionals. At the same time, a low level of digital knowledge and patients’ trust create a low demand for e-health product development, and thus cannot act as an additional driver of IT developments. Health digitalization is an absolute trend in the current development of healthcare in our country, and in view of modern social and demographic trends, the need for medical services will only increase. Introduction of digital technologies into practice should contribute to better quality of and higher access to medical services, therefore health digitalization is a timely and logical stage of medicine development in Russia. Connectivity, digitization, and emerging Industry 4.0 technology such as AI, automation, robotics, IoT, and cyber-physical space have transformed social relations, the means of production, and the world of labor. The construction industry has also been transformed by Industry 4.0 technologies, mainly through Building Information Modeling (BIM)-based digitization. This revolution in the construction industry has been called Construction 4.0 and is based on the use of innovative technologies that promote digitalization and automation of design, construction, and management processes. Furthermore, the workforce for the construction industry in the context of Construction 4.0 must have adequate skills for this new scenario. Previous literature reviews have analyzed the idea of transitioning the construction industry to Construction 4.0 and implementing specific technologies in the industry. However, there has been limited exploration of the skills necessary for the Construction 4.0 workforce. This article aims to address this gap by identifying the technologies and skills that have been scientifically researched and applied in the construction industry, specifically related to the concepts of Industry 4.0 and Construction 4.0. Utilizing a scoping literature review in the Scopus database, this study seeks to identify: (i) emergent C4.0 technologies in the AEC industry; and (ii) which skills or competencies are demanded when using these technologies. All of our bibliographical searches are inserted and restricted to the concept of Construction 4.0. A total of 108 articles related to technologies and 15 related to skills in the Construction 4.0 context were selected for analysis. Twenty-one technologies were identified and grouped into five sets according to their similarities and applications: AI-assisted technologies, Advanced manufacture, Smart tools, Digital simulation/Visualization, and Data acquisition/detection. The skills were identified and grouped into soft and hard skills. However, the findings point out that the new skills needed by the workforce are described in a dispersed way, without a central theme of research in the context of Construction 4.0. Our findings contribute to a better understanding of the transformations towards Construction 4.0 and provide data for industry and universities to respond appropriately to the new demands of the construction industry. The rapid onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, also known as the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak, has brought to light how important technology may be to the socio-economic development of a nation, particularly in Africa. The study conducted a narrative review of pertinent literature to critically assess the effects of two types of emerging digital technologies: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and nanotechnologies in Africa. The results show that emerging technology-related research, development, and deployment are happening throughout Africa. Nanotechnology and AI have had a substantial impact in many spheres of African economies. The study, however, acknowledges in its conclusion that not all African nations have derived the same benefits from emerging technologies, including the digitalisation processes. There are still large disparities in the accessibility of technology and digital skills in several rural and underdeveloped areas in Africa. Thus, recommendations on how to close these gaps are provided for all African countries to profit more consistently from the emerging technologies and the digitalisation processes. This study examines the risks associated with relying solely on images for documenting new species records, rediscoveries, taxonomic descriptions, and distribution expansions. We highlight concerns regarding image authenticity, especially in cases where images may be altered, adulterated, or AI (artificial intelligence)-generated, potentially leading to inaccuracies in biodiversity documentation. To illustrate the evolving challenges, we conducted an experiment with 621 participants who assessed nine AI-generated images. Surprisingly, six were deemed authentic, while three raised doubts, highlighting the difficulty in discerning AI-generated content. Our main message emphasizes the critical role of trust in biodiversity documentation, particularly for taxonomy and conservation, and how eroded trust can hinder conservation efforts. Improved communication and collaboration between taxonomists and conservationists are needed, emphasizing scientific integrity. We urge a reevaluation of journal policies concerning data validation, especially in articles relying on images as primary evidence, to preserve the credibility of scientific research amidst technological advancements. Energy storage systems (ESS) are among the fastest-growing electrical power system due to the changing worldwide geography for electrical distribution and use. Traditionally, methods that are implemented to monitor, detect and optimize battery modules have limitations such as difficulty in balancing charging speed and battery capacity usage. A battery-management system overcomes these traditional challenges and enhances the performance of managing battery modules. The integration of advancements and new technologies enables the provision of real-time monitoring with an inclination towards Industry 4.0. In the previous literature, it has been identified that limited studies have presented their reviews by combining the literature on different digital technologies for battery-management systems. With motivation from the above aspects, the study discussed here aims to provide a review of the significance of digital technologies like wireless sensor networks (WSN), the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, edge computing, blockchain, and digital twin and machine learning (ML) in the enhancement of battery-management systems. Finally, this article suggests significant recommendations such as edge computing with AI model-based devices, customized IoT-based devices, hybrid AI models and ML-based computing, digital twins for battery modeling, and blockchain for real-time data sharing. The increasing expansion of digital technologies has significantly changed most economic activities and professions. As a result of the scientific and technological revolution 4.0, organizational structures and business models have changed, and new ones have emerged. Consequently, the accounting activities that record operations and provide the necessary information to managers for decision making have faced threats, challenges, and opportunities, which have changed and will change the DNA of managerial accounting, determining a reinventing of it. As a result of the evolution of data collection and processing technologies, managerial accounting activities have become increasingly complex, encompassing increasing volumes of data. Resistance to change, organizational culture, lack of trust, and the high price of technology are the most critical barriers that interfere with adopting artificial intelligence technology in managerial accounting. This study aimed to assess the acceptance of artificial intelligence technology among accountants in Romanian organizations in the context of the modernization and digitization of managerial accounting. This research was quantitative, carried out through a survey based on a questionnaire. In total, 396 specialists in managerial accounting from Romanian organizations filled and returned the questionnaire. Using structural equation modeling, we tested the model of accepting artificial intelligence technology in managerial accounting. The results show that implementing artificial intelligence solutions in managerial accounting offers multiple options to managers through innovation and shortening processes, improves the use of accounting information, and is relatively easy to use, given the high degree of automation and customization. Industry 4.0 corresponds to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, resulting from technological innovation and research multidisciplinary advances. Researchers aim to contribute to the digital transformation of the manufacturing ecosystem both in theory and mainly in practice by identifying the real problems that the industry faces. Researchers focus on providing practical solutions using technologies such as the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Edge Computing (EC). On the other hand, universities educate young engineers and researchers by formulating a curriculum that prepares graduates for the industrial market. This research aimed to investigate and identify the industry's current problems and needs from an educational perspective. The research methodology is based on preparing a focused questionnaire resulting from an extensive recent literature review used to interview representatives from 70 enterprises operating in 25 countries. The produced empirical data revealed (1) the kind of data and business management systems that companies have implemented to advance the digitalization of their processes, (2) the industries' main problems and what technologies (could be) implemented to address them, and (3) what are the primary industrial needs and how they can be met to facilitate their digitization. The main conclusion is that there is a need to develop a taxonomy that shall include industrial problems and their technological solutions.
