The article reports on the increase of productivity in chlor-alkali industry in China to meet the demand in construction, alumina, plastic processing, paper-making and printing and dyeing industries. It discusses the capacity of producing caustic soda which reached 25.52 million t/a as of June 2009. It also reveals challenges in industry including the 2008 financial crisis.

The said polymer has numerous uses in the industry, including additives for adhesives, inks, rubber anchoring agents, paper sizing agents and coatings. Due to the expansion of application sector as well as the increase of market demand, it entered a stage of rapid development and encountered an annual growth of 12% in recent years.

Information about several papers discussed during the 2009 Production, Development and Market of Pyridine and Its Derivatives Conference held at Nanjing in Jiangsu, China on June 26, 2009 is presented. The event attracted more than 140 delegates when they discussed the implication of global economic crisis to the demand of pyridine. Moreover, Zhang Ruihe, an expert from China National Chemical Information Center (CNCIC) shared his views on the topic.

The article reports on the commencement of production of the new 500,000 ton per annum synthetic ammonia unit of Yunnan Yunwei Group Co. Ltd. in China. The company also subordinates to Yunnan Coal Chemical Industry Group Co. Ltd. , commenced production . Yunnan Dawei Ammonia is a branch of Yunwei Group, which will operate the largest scale ammonium unit in the country.
