Adaptive dynamical networks are network systems in which the structure co-evolves and interacts with the dynamical state of the nodes. We study an adaptive dynamical network in which the structure changes on a slower time scale relative to the fast dynamics of the nodes. We identify a phenomenon we refer to as recurrent adaptive chaotic clustering (RACC), in which chaos is observed on a slow time scale, while the fast time scale exhibits regular dynamics. Such slow chaos is further characterized by long (relative to the fast time scale) regimes of frequency clusters or frequency-synchronized dynamics, interrupted by fast jumps between these regimes. We also determine parameter values where the time intervals between jumps are chaotic and show that such a state is robust to changes in parameters and initial conditions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper investigates feedback pinning control of synchronization behaviors aroused by epidemic spread on complex networks. Based on the quenched mean field theory, epidemic control synchronization models with the inhibition of contact behavior are constructed, combined with the epidemic transmission system and the adaptive dynamical network carrying active controllers. By the properties of convex functions and the Gerschgorin theorem, the epidemic threshold of the model is obtained, and the global stability of disease-free equilibrium is analyzed. For individual's infected situation, when an epidemic disease spreads, two types of feedback control strategies depending on the diseases' information are designed: the first one only adds controllers to infected individuals, and the other adds controllers to both infected and susceptible ones. By using the Lyapunov stability theory, under designed controllers, some criteria that guarantee the epidemic controlled synchronization system achieving behavior synchronization are also derived. Several numerical simulations are performed to show the effectiveness of our theoretical results. As far as we know, this is the first work to address the controlled behavioral synchronization induced by epidemic spread under the pinning feedback mechanism. In this paper, we introduce a model of an adaptive dynamical network by integrating the complex network model and adaptive technique. In this model, the adaptive updating laws for each vertex in the network depend only on the state information of its neighborhood, besides itself and external controllers. This suggests that an adaptive technique be added to a complex network without breaking its intrinsic existing network topology. The core of adaptive dynamical networks is to design suitable adaptive updating laws to attain certain aims. Here, we propose two series of adaptive laws to synchronize and pin a complex network, respectively. Based on the Lyapunov function method, we can prove that under several mild conditions, with the adaptive technique, a connected network topology is sufficient to synchronize or stabilize any chaotic dynamics of the uncoupled system. This implies that these adaptive updating laws actually enhance synchronizability and stabilizability, respectively. We find out that even though these adaptive methods can succeed for all networks with connectivity, the underlying network topology can affect the convergent rate and the terminal average coupling and pinning strength. In addition, this influence can be measured by the smallest nonzero eigenvalue of the corresponding Laplacian. Moreover, we provide a detailed study of the influence of the prior parameters in this adaptive laws and present several numerical examples to verify our theoretical results and further discussion. Adaptivity is a dynamical feature that is omnipresent in nature, socio-economics, and technology. For example, adaptive couplings appear in various real-world systems, such as the power grid, social, and neural networks, and they form the backbone of closed-loop control strategies and machine learning algorithms. In this article, we provide an interdisciplinary perspective on adaptive systems. We reflect on the notion and terminology of adaptivity in different disciplines and discuss which role adaptivity plays for various fields. It is difficult that all the boundaries of chaotic system were estimated precisely; this is why the coupling coefficient cannot be determined beforehand in the problem of synchronization of complex networks. Thus, an estimation of coupling coefficient should be given before designing some controllers. In addition, to realize the synchronization, the estimated coupling coefficient has to be large enough. However, it is not true that the larger the coupling coefficient the better the synchronization is. In fact, a coupling coefficient which is larger than what it needs to be means the energy waste. To overcome this difficulty, in this paper we propose an adaptive coupling method. And a new concept about asymptotic stability is presented.
