We assessed the patients’ tremor with the Fahn-Tolosa-Marin Tremor Rating Scale at 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 months after deep brain stimulation. Determining the factors that drive vegetation variation is complicated by the intricate interactions between climatic and anthropogenic influences. Neglecting the short-term time-lag and cumulative effects of climate on vegetation growth (i.e., temporal effects) exacerbates the uncertainty in attributing long-term vegetation dynamics. This study evaluated the climatic and anthropogenic influences on vegetation dynamics in China from 2000 to 2019 by analyzing normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), temperature, precipitation, solar radiation, and ten anthropogenic indicators through linear regression, correlation, multiple linear regression (MLR), residual, and principal component analyses. Across most regions, growing season NDVI (G-NDVI) exhibited heightened sensitivity to climatic variables from earlier periods or from both earlier and current periods, signaling extensive temporal climatic effects. Constructing new time series for temperature, precipitation, and solar radiation from 2000 to 2019, based on the optimal vegetation response timing to each climatic variable, revealed significant correlations with G-NDVI across 27.9%, 26.7%, and 23.3% of the study area, respectively. Climate variability and anthropogenic activities contributed 45% and 55% to the G-NDVI increase in China, respectively. Afforestation significantly promoted vegetation greening, while agricultural development had a marginally positive influence. In contrast, urbanization negatively impacted vegetation, particularly in eastern China, where farmland conversion to constructed land has been prevalent over the past two decades. Neglecting temporal effects would significantly reduce the areas with robust MLR models linking G-NDVI to climatic variables, thereby increasing uncertainty in attributing vegetation changes. In situ particle observations provide useful information for determining the significance of nonlinearity in wave‐particle interactions. Here, we examine an electromagnetic Landau resonance event observed by the Magnetospheric Multiscale mission near the dayside magnetopause along this line of thought. During this event, protons with energy ∼ ${\sim} $748 eV and pitch angle ∼25° ${\sim} 25{}^{\circ}$ are observed to resonate with electromagnetic‐ion‐cyclotron waves. Detailed data analysis reveals the existence of a second harmonic signal in proton modulation. Using an observation‐based test particle simulation, this signal is explained as a low‐resolution manifestation of phase space rolled‐up structures, which themselves are not observable due to limited instrument resolution. The presence of these rolled‐up structures suggests that the waves induce significant displacement of the protons in phase space, consequently confirming the nonlinear nature of the observed interaction. Based on the observations, we further discuss the possibility of the nonlinear electromagnetic Landau resonance generating second harmonic waves. Plain Language Summary: The nonlinearity of wave‐particle interactions becomes nonnegligible when wave‐induced phase space displacement of particles is comparable with that caused by the background fields. Besides the cusp, polar cap, and auroral oval, the nightside subauroral zone has also recently been reported as a source region of the ionospheric oxygen outflows. However, the detailed mass and energy sources of these ions remain open questions. Here, we address this issue from the perspective of the response of conjugate hemispheres. Investigation of Van Allen Probes data demonstrates a notable preference of oxygen outflows from the nightside subauroral zone from the sunlit hemisphere. This characteristic eliminates the possibility of nightside auroral precipitation playing a significant role, as it is more prominent in darkness. Instead, it highlights sunlight‐induced ionization as the mass source and enhanced plasma waves from the magnetotail as the energy source. The results presented here further support the nightside subauroral zone as an independent source of magnetospheric oxygen ions. Plain Language Summary: Single‐charged oxygen ions, believed to ultimately originate from the ionosphere, are the main carriers of the ring current during severe space weather, including super geomagnetic storms and substorms. Therefore, comprehending where and how they come from is crucial for understanding the magnetosphere and space weather. Recent studies have reported the nightside subauroral zone as a source region, besides the usually cited cusp, polar cap, and auroral oval. However, the detailed mechanisms for the subauroral oxygen outflows remain open questions. In this study, we address this issue by studying how opposite hemispheres react simultaneously in subauroral oxygen outflow events observed by the Van Allen Probes. Data analysis reveals that these outflows tend to occur in the local summer hemisphere, where the nightside subauroral ionosphere receives more sunlight compared to the opposite hemisphere. This feature rules out nightside auroral precipitation playing a significant role, as it is more noticeable in the dark. Instead, it points to sunlight‐induced ionization as the source of mass and enhanced plasma waves from the magnetotail as the source of energy. Our findings reinforce the idea that the nightside subauroral zone is an important source of ionospheric oxygen outflows. Solar wind dynamic pressure pulse is one of the sources of ultra‐low frequency (ULF) waves. Based on 1‐second resolution magnetic field observations from SuperMAG from 2012 to 2019, we conducted a statistical study on temporal and spatial variations of global ULF power after the arrival of positive dynamic pressure pulses. The magnetosphere responds quickly to the dynamic pressure pulse within 1 min. At low L‐shells, it takes 4–6 min for the ULF waves to reach a power maximum, then ULF waves decay on a timescale of about 10 min. The spatial distribution of ULF wave power is closely related to the direction of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) when the dynamic pressure pulse arrives. The southward IMF leads to the reconnection on the dayside and more intense substorm activities on the nightside, accompanied by stronger ULF wave power globally. The power enhancement in the Pc2 band exhibits a notable fluctuation concentrated primarily in the range of L = 7 to 9, compared with the quiet period. In contrast, the amplification of Pc3 wave power occurs predominantly at higher L‐shells. However, the fluctuation of Pc5 power exhibits an opposite pattern, indicating disparate excitation and propagation mechanisms. In addition, seasonal effects affect the ULF power in different bands, which can be explained by the Russell‐McPherron (R‐M) effect. Our statistical results on long‐term, global‐scale geomagnetic observations illustrate that pressure pulses are important sources of ULF waves, and the spatial distribution of wave power varies greatly under different solar wind conditions. To investigate the changes in the strength and deformation of the blast load-damaged sandstone roof plate under cyclic loading and unloading conditions at different confining pressures, a triaxial loading device was used to carry out graded cyclic unloading tests on specimens with different degrees of damage, and the test results were summarized. The effects of blast-load-induced damage, confining pressure and loading stage on the strength, cohesion, internal friction angle, residual strain and volumetric strain were analyzed. (1) Compared with that of the undamaged specimen at a confining pressure of 0 MPa, the peak stress reductions in the vibration-damaged and blast-damaged specimens were 4.93% and 9.04%, respectively. The peak stress, cohesion and internal friction angle characteristics of the undamaged specimens under triaxial cyclic loading and unloading and conventional triaxial loading were greater than those of the vibration-damaged specimens. In addition, the corresponding parameters of the vibration-damaged specimens were greater than those of the blast-damaged specimens; thus, the damage induced by the blast load reduced the ability of the rock body to resist external loads. (2) The peak stresses of the specimens with different degrees of damage increased linearly with increasing confining pressure, and the presence of confining pressure restricted the deformation of the rock body and enhanced the ability of the specimens to resist external loads. (3) Under cyclic loading and unloading, the first cycle generated the largest residual stress variable. When the confining pressures were 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 MPa, the levels of plastic deformation of Grade I cyclic loading and unloading specimens (the amounts of total deformation and peak strain of specimens under different numbers of loading and unloading cycles) were 4.19, 4.30, 4.75, 5.11 and 5.43%, respectively. An increase in the confining pressure enhanced the deformation and failure resistance characteristics of the specimens. (4) Compared with those under conventional triaxial loading, specimens under cyclic loading and unloading failed faster after reaching the ultimate volumetric strain, and specimens damaged by blasting were more likely to fail. During deep coal mining, the bearing capacity and deformation resistance of rock masses damaged by blasting after repeated disturbance loads were greatly reduced. Therefore, the safety and stability of the surrounding rock should be strictly monitored when applying blasting pressure relief technology to avoid safety accidents., Competing Interests: Declarations. Polar vortices are predominantly observed within the confined ferroelectric films and the ferroelectric/paraelectric superlattices. This raises the intriguing question of whether polar vortices can form within relaxor ferroelectric ceramics and subsequently contribute to their energy storage performances. Here, we incorporate 10 mol % CaSnO 3 into the 0.7NaNbO 3 -0.3Sr 0.7 Bi 0.2 TiO 3 matrix, yielding a coexistence of phases: 48.8% orthorhombic P 2 1 / ma , 49.1% tetragonal P 4 bm , and 2.1% tetragonal P 4 2 / mnm SnO 2 , which is confirmed by the combination of X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The ceramic features a pronounced core-shell structure with the shell region rich in stripe nanoscale domains of the P 2 1 / ma phase and the core region consisting of polar nanoregions deficient in the P 2 1 / ma phase, forming polar vortices. Consequently, the ceramic achieves an impressive recoverable energy storage density of 6.83 J cm -3 and an exceptional efficiency of 95.7% at a high breakdown strength of 750 kV cm -1 , along with superior stability in frequency, temperature, and cycling. These results not only offer a viable approach for developing high-performance energy storage ceramics through the controlled formation of polar vortices but also offer the potential for direct electric-field control of polar vortices for high-speed data processing and storage.

We developed a novel ratiometric two-photon fluorescent probe for the selective and precise detection of nitroreductase (NTR) in neurons. Using this probe, we found that hypoxic stimulation could up-regulate endogenous NTR levels.

Chemotherapy is the primary treatment option for pancreatic cancer, although nanocarrier-based drug delivery systems often struggle with multiple physiological barriers, limiting their therapeutic efficacy. Here, we developed a pH/reactive oxygen species (ROS) dual-sensitive self-adaptive nanocarrier (DAT CPT ) encapsulating camptothecin (CPT), an analog of the pancreatic chemotherapeutic drug irinotecan (CPT-11), to enhance chemotherapy outcomes in orthotopic pancreatic cancer by addressing multiple physiological barriers. The nanocarrier features a peripherally positively charged arginine (Arg) residue on DAT CPT and is masked with an acid-labile 2,3-dimethylmaleic anhydride (DA) to improve circulation time. In the acidic tumor microenvironment (TME), DA dissociates, exposing arginine to facilitate nanocarrier binding and internalization of DAT CPT . Subsequently, peroxynitrite (ONOO - ) is generated by a cascade reaction between exposed Arg and ROS, which effectively activates matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) to degrade the dense extracellular matrix (ECM) and enhance the deep accumulation and penetration of DAT CPT . Meanwhile, ONOO - inhibits tumor metastasis by influencing mitochondrial function, preventing adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, and inhibiting ATP-dependent tumor-derived microvesicles (TMVs). This study presents a promising strategy to develop efficient nanocarriers to address multiple physiological barriers in antipancreatic cancer therapy.

Global citrus production has been severely affected by citrus Huanglongbing (HLB) disease, caused by Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (Clas), and the development of effective control methods are crucial. This study employed antimicrobial lipopeptide and phytohormone complex powder (L1) prepared from the fermentation broth of the endophytic plant growth promoting bacterium (PGPB) of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain MG-2 to treat Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus ( C Las)-infected ' Citrus reticulata 'Chun Jian' plants. Real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and PCR were employed for disease detection. The results revealed that after 15 spray-drench treatments with L1 solution, the HLB infection rate decreased from 100 to 50%, the bacterial titer decreased by 51.9% compared with a 27.9% decrease in the control group. L1 treatment triggered the production of reactive oxygen species, increased lignin content, and increased defense enzyme activities ( p  < 0.05). Defense-related gene expression significantly increased within 12 h of treatment. In addition, L1 application also promoted plant growth, as evidenced by higher transpiration rates and net photosynthetic rates as well as increased leave or root density. Root flora analysis revealed that the abundances of Burkholderia&#95;thailandensis , unclassified&#95;g&#95;Burkholderia-Caballeronia-Paraburkholderia , unclassified&#95;g&#95;&#95;Allorhizobium-Neorhizobium-Pararhizobium-Rhizobium , and Pseudomonas&#95;mosselii were 1.64, 1.46, 5.84, and 6.93 times greater, respectively, than those in the control group. The levels of phenylpropanoids, polyketides, lipids, lipid-like molecules, organic acids, and derivatives, significantly increased following L1 treatment (FC > 2, p  < 0.05). Additionally, salicylic acid, dihydrojasmonic acid, and isopentenyl adenosine levels in leaves markedly increased. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) confirmed that L1 contained surfactin, iturin and fengycin cyclic-lipopeptides (CLPs) as well as indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), 3-indolebutyric acid (IBA), indole-3-carboxylic acid and indole-3-carboxaldehyde auxins , N6- entopentenyladenine and t-zeatin-riboside cytokinins, abscisic acid, 1-aminocyclicpanecarboxylic acid, salicylic acid, and gibberellin A1, A3 and A4 phytohormones. Implantable medical devices have played a significant role in improving both medical care and patients' quality of life. Urinary Catheters (UCs) are commonly utilized as a substitute for bladder drainage and urine collection to prevent urinary retention in patients. However, bacterial colonization and biofilm formation on the catheter surface are prone to occur, leading to catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) and other complications. In recent years, UC coatings have garnered increasing attention. In this review, various antifouling and antibacterial materials for UC coatings are summarized and their impacts on bacterial activities are linked to potential mechanisms of action. Additionally, this review provides an in-depth understanding of the current advancements in UC coatings by presenting the advantages, limitations, notable achievements, and latest research findings. Finally, it anticipates the prospective design and development trajectories of UC coatings in this domain. This holds paramount significance in advancing medical device technology. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: Combating catheter-associated urinary tract infections is a major healthcare challenge, and urinary catheter (UC) coatings are considered promising candidates to counter these infections. Nanoscale FeWO 4 /BiVO 4 heterojunctions were directly grown on the graphite fiber felt (GF) with good conductivity to construct a FeWO 4 /BiVO 4 @GF solar photo-Fenton like wastewater treatment system. The removal effect of COD from phenolic wastewater and the mechanism of synergistic improvement of wastewater treatment efficiency by this system were investigated. The FeWO 4 /BiVO 4 heterojunction prepared by hydrothermal method exhibited higher photoelectric conversion efficiency and solar light utilization rate, thus endowing FeWO 4 /BiVO 4 with excellent solar-Fenton like reaction activity.The photo-Fenton activity can be maintained well even within the pH range of 2-8. Loading FeWO 4 /BiVO 4 nano-heterojunction on GF helped to increase the contact area between Fenton reagents and wastewater, facilitate the electron transfer on the FeWO 4 /BiVO 4 heterojunction and enable the recovery and reuse of the Fenton reagents.Under solar light radiation, the COD removal efficiency of FeWO 4 /BiVO 4 @GF/H 2 O 2 system in phenolic wastewater was more than 92%. Even after five cycles, the system still exhibited excellent operation stability. The drift motion of energetic charged particles can generate an azimuthal electric current around the planet known as the ring current, which regulates the field configuration of the magnetosphere. However, limited coverage of in-situ measurements makes it challenging to investigate the long-term variations of the global ring current. Taking advantage of the energetic neutral atom (ENA) imaging onboard the Cassini mission, we present a nearly 11-year cycle of the suprathermal ring current populations in Saturn's magnetosphere. We find that the peak location of the suprathermal ring current in local time oscillates between post-midnight and pre-midnight sectors, and its intensity minimizes during the solar maximum. These results indicate that the modulation of the suprathermal ring current is closely related to the solar cycle. Plastic products offer remarkable convenience for modern life. However, growing concerns are emerging regarding the potential health hazards posed by nanoplastics, which formed as plastics break down. Currently, the biological effects and mechanisms induced by nanoplastics are largely underexplored. In this study, we report that polystyrene nanoplastics can enter the bloodstream and enhance thrombus formation. Our findings show that polystyrene nanoplastics adsorb plasma proteins, particularly coagulation factor XII and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, play a key role in this process, as demonstrated by proteomics, bioinformatic analyses, and molecular dynamics simulations. The adsorption of these proteins by nanoplastics is an essential factor in thrombosis enhancement. Background & Aims: HBV-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF) is a severe acute liver injury secondary to HBV-related chronic liver disease (with or without cirrhosis) and is characterized by a high short-term mortality rate. Presently, there is a paucity of experimental models that specifically focus on HBV-ACLF based on chronic hepatitis B. Therefore, this study aimed to establish an experimental mouse model of HBV-ACLF using chronic hepatitis B (CHB) as a basis and investigate the impact of STING activation on the disease., Methods: To simulate HBV-ACLF conditions, a model was constructed by combining chronic HBV replication (caudal vein high-pressure hydrodynamic injection of pAAV/HBV1.2 plasmid) and acute hepatic insult (intraperitoneal injection of Acetaminophen (APAP)). Then, model mice were administered either a STING agonist or STING inhibitor. Liver injury, STING pathway, autophagy flux, and macrophage polarization were assessed to elucidate the potential role of STING., Results: The mouse model developed chronic hepatitis B and acute liver injury, partially reflecting features of clinical HBV-ACLF based on CHB. STING activation, autophagy, and macrophage polarization were found to be involved in the disease process. During the early stage (6 h) of the STING agonist treatment group, the STING pathway was activated, autophagy flux was up-regulated, and liver inflammation and injury were alleviated. Contrastingly, at the late stage of STING agonist treatment (24 h, 48 h), macrophages were polarized to the M1 phenotype, exacerbating liver inflammatory infiltration and injury. However, treatment with a STING covalent inhibitor reversed these effects., Conclusions: Sting-induced autophagy exerts a protective effect on liver injury during the early stage. Konjac glucomannan (KGM) molecular chains contain a small amount of acetyl groups and a large number of hydroxyl groups, thereby exhibiting exceptional water retention and gel-forming properties. To meet diverse requirements, KGM undergoes modification processes such as oxidation, acetylation, grafting, and cationization, which reduce its viscosity, enhance its mechanical strength, and improve its water solubility. Researchers have found that KGM and its derivatives can regulate the polarization of macrophages, inducing their transformation into classically activated M1-type macrophages or alternatively activated M2-type macrophages, and even facilitating the interconversion between M1 and M2 phenotypes. To investigate the propagation mechanisms of stress waves and the characteristics of crack distribution in tunnel structures subjected to explosive effects, an experimental model simulating rock mass using cement mortar was employed. Blasting experiments were conducted at various vertical locations relative to the tunnel. Utilizing ultra-dynamic strain monitoring alongside high-speed digital image recognition, we captured in real time the dynamic evolution of stress waves as well as the precise initiation and expansion paths of cracks. A comprehensive analysis was performed on both stress wave propagation and damage patterns within the refuge structure. Furthermore, the reliability of our numerical simulation algorithm was validated through an examination of fluid-structure coupling algorithms. The results indicated that peak strains at monitoring points within the tunnel increased as detonation points approached it, leading to heightened structural damage. Numerical simulations demonstrated a strong correlation between observed peak strains at critical locations and corresponding damage data from our experimental model. Additionally, it was found that decreasing height between detonation points and the tunnel resulted in increased dynamic response parameters-such as overpressure, velocity, and acceleration-at monitoring sites within the tunnel, thereby exacerbating damage to key areas including vaults and footwall structures. To mitigate potential structural instability within refuges, a full-section molded concrete lining support system was implemented along with supplementary anchor (mesh) spraying in critical regions to ensure long-term operational safety., Competing Interests: Declarations. The objective of this study was to establish simple nomograms for predicting ALN involvement based on ultrasound (US) characteristics and evaluate the predictive value of US in the detection of ALN involvement.Patients and Methods: A total of 1328 patients with cT1-2N0 breast cancer by physical exam were retrospectively analyzed. Univariate analysis was used for the comparison of variables, and multivariate analysis was performed by binary logistic regression analysis. The R software was used to establish simple nomograms based on the US characteristics alone. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves of the prediction model and the verification group were drawn, and the area under the curve (AUC) was calculated to evaluate the discrimination of the prediction model. A calibration curve was plotted to assess the nomogram predictions vs the actual observations of the ALN metastasis rate and axillary tumor burden rate.Results: The ALN metastasis rates of the training group and the validation group were 35.1% and 34.1%, respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that molecular subtype, lymphovascular invasion, mass descriptors (size, margin, microcalcification and blood flow signal) and LN descriptors (shape, cortical thickness and long-to-short ratio) were independent impact factors in early breast cancer. The AUC of ALN metastasis rate of prediction model based on US features was 0.802, the AUC of high tumor burden rate was 0.873, and the AUC of external validation group was 0.731 and 0.802, respectively. The calibration curve of the nomogram showed that the nomogram predictions are consistent with the actual metastasis rate and the high tumor burden rate. The results showed that preoperative US had a sensitivity of 59.4% and a specificity of 88.9% for predicting the ALN metastasis rate.Conclusion: The successfully established nomograms based on US characteristics to predict ALN metastasis rate and high axillary tumor burden rate in early breast cancer can achieve individual prediction. Compared with other nomogram predictions, it is more intuitive, and can help clinical decision-making; thus, it should be promoted. Theoretical analysis has revealed a specific resonance that shares the same condition as Landau resonance, but instead involves wave electromagnetic fields rather than traditionally electrostatic fields. While this resonance, referred to as electromagnetic Landau resonance due to its properties, is considered significant for magnetospheric dynamics, rare reports or evaluations based on observations have been made thus far. Here, we present an event detected by the Magnetospheric Multiscale mission near the dayside magnetopause. During this event, ∼748‐eV protons are observed to be in resonance with a wave. Detailed data analysis demonstrates the resonant velocity closely matches the wave's parallel phase speed, which, combined with the significant work done by wave perpendicular electric field, confirms this interaction as electromagnetic Landau resonance. Further investigation indicates these protons are being secularly accelerated within this resonance. Consequently, our observations provide the first empirical evidence supporting the previously suggested theoretical importance of the electromagnetic Landau resonance. Plain Language Summary: The electromagnetic Landau resonance shares the same resonance condition as the normal Landau resonance, but differs in that it involves the electromagnetic components of wave fields instead of the electrostatic components found in the case of the latter. Although it has been examined in theories and confirmed to occur in space plasmas experimentally, this resonance, especially the accompanying evolution of particle velocity distributions, has yet to be evaluated quantitatively through spacecraft observations. In this paper, we report the first observation of this resonance obtained by the Magnetospheric Multiscale mission near the dayside magnetosphere. In the reported case, protons of ∼400–1,000 eV are found to be in resonance with a wave. A more detailed examination of the observed fields and protons shows the corresponding resonant velocity is nearly identical to the wave's parallel phase speed. This observation, combined with the significant work done by wave perpendicular electric field, conclusively confirms the observed interaction as the electromagnetic Landau resonance. Further investigation indicates the protons are secularly accelerated by the wave via this resonance. The South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) refers to a region where the strength of the magnetic field is notably weaker compared to a dipole field. While previous studies have primarily focused on its effects on the inner radiation belt, this study investigates its impact on the aurora system. By analyzing 2 years' worth of data obtained by the Fengyun‐3E/ACMag instrument, we discover that magnetic fluctuations within the auroral oval are significantly weaker in the longitude sector corresponding to the SAA, as compared to those outside this area. This characteristic remains permanent and independent of seasons and geomagnetic activities. Additional investigation using Defense Meteorological Satellite Program/Special Sensor Ultraviolet Spectrographic Imager (DMSP/SSUSI) observations reveals a similar phenomenon in the auroral intensity. Therefore, our results demonstrate that the SAA substantially weakens the aurora system, shedding new light on the effects of magnetic anomalies on planetary auroras and magnetosphere‐ionosphere‐thermosphere coupling. This region has drawn a lot of attention because its weakened magnetic field brings the inner Van Allen radiation belt unusually close to the Earth's surface, which poses a threat to satellites passing through it. Here, we uncovered another interesting aspect of the SAA: its impact on the aurora system. To investigate this, we first examined 2 years' worth of data from the ACMag instruments on the Fengyun‐3E satellite, which orbits the Earth at an altitude of 836 km in a dawn‐dusk, Sun‐synchronous orbit. Our findings reveal that the magnetic fluctuations within the southern auroral oval are significantly weaker in the region that aligns with the SAA. This weakening effect is consistently present, regardless of the season or the level of geomagnetic activity. To reinforce our results, we also analyzed auroral intensity from the Special Sensor Ultraviolet Spectrographic Imager (SSUSI) instrument on the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) satellite, and it corroborated the same weakening trend in this data set. In conclusion, our observations demonstrate that the SAA has a substantial impact on weakening the aurora system. This discovery deepens our understanding of how magnetic anomalies can influence planetary auroras. Large scale (low wavenumber m) ultra‐low frequency (ULF) waves observed in the inner magnetosphere can propagate into the ionosphere and to the ground, which are recognized as magnetic pulsations by ground‐based magnetometers. We present the conjunctive observations of Pc5 ULF waves from Van Allen Probes (at ∼6MLT, earlier), GOES13 (at ∼1MLT, later), SuperDARN radar (at ∼6MLT), and ground magnetometers. The phase shifts of the waves observed by satellites at different MLTs indicate westward propagation from the noon sector. The traveling Alfven waves are thought to propagate along the field line and reflect mostly at the ionosphere, while a few wave energy leak from the ionosphere to the ground. Thus, we suppose that standing waves are observed by the spacecraft while traveling signals are observed by the ground‐based magnetometers in the form of electromagnetic waves. By mapping the ground magnetic pulsations to the magnetic equatorial plane (which depends on the total ionosphere conductivity from IRI and MSIS model), the expected ULF waves match well with the satellite observations. Besides, it suggests that the ionosphere conductivity can be estimated from the conjunctive ULF waves observed on the ground and in the magnetosphere. The calculated total conductivity is 15–30% higher than the model. Plain Language Summary: The ultra‐low frequency (ULF, usually 1 mHz ∼ 1 Hz) waves can propagate along the magnetic field line as traveling Alfven waves in the magnetosphere. Most energy of the traveling Alfven waves would reflect at the ionosphere, while a few energy can spread to the ground as electromagnetic waves. In this study, we present the conjunctive observations of Pc5 ULF waves in the magnetosphere, the ionosphere, and on the ground, respectively. The expected ULF waves mapping from the ground magnetic pulsations coincide well with the waves observed by the spaceborne probe, suggesting that the ULF waves propagate from the magnetosphere to the ionosphere and then to the ground. Besides, the phase shifts of the ULF waves observed by satellites at different MLTs indicate that the ULF waves propagate westward from the noon sector, with an azimuthal wave number m of approximately −5. Our work demonstrates the localized ULF waves propagation in the magnetosphere‐ionosphere‐atmosphere system through the spaceborne and ground‐based observations, suggesting that standing Alfven waves can be observed in the magnetosphere while magnetic pulsations on the ground are the signals of traveling Alfven waves. The ionosphere conductivity can be estimated from the conjunctive ULF waves observed on the ground and in the magnetosphere. The electrochemical performance of the Zn anode in a water-based electrolyte is influenced by the Zn anode/electrolyte interface. In the present work, a distinctive interfacial chemistry is enabled by introducing synergistic "cling-cover-capture" effects of different components in aspartame (APM) molecule, which can be described in detail as clinging to the surface of Zn anode by incompletely coordinated nitrogen and oxygen atoms in the main chain, covering the surface by the benzene rings and capturing Zn 2+ by the side chains. Benefiting from its triple effects, this steady anode/electrolyte interface homogenizes Zn 2+ flux and excludes interfacial active water, thus effectively suppressing both dendrite growth and side reactions. Consequently, the stability and reversibility of Zn anode experience an enhancement, leading to a long cycle lifespan of 5100 h at 1 mA cm -2 and 1 mA h cm -2 , and an average Coulombic efficiency of 99.73% at 1 mA cm -2 and 0.5 mA h cm -2 over 1600 cycles. The improved rate capability and cycling durability of Zn||NH 4 V 4 O 10 full cells further confirm the important role of APM in stabilizing the Zn anode.

The practical application of aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) indeed faces challenges primarily attributed to the inherent side reactions and dendrite growth associated with the Zn anode. In the present work, N-Methylmethanesulfonamide (NMS) is introduced to optimize the transfer, desolvation, and reduction of Zn 2+ , achieving highly stable and reversible Zn plating/stripping. The NMS molecule can substitute one H 2 O molecule in the solvation structure of hydrated Zn 2+ and be preferentially chemisorbed on the Zn surface to protect Zn anode against corrosion and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), thereby suppressing byproducts formation. Additionally, a robust N-rich organic and inorganic (ZnS and ZnCO 3 ) hybrid solid electrolyte interphase is in situ generated on Zn anode due to the decomposition of NMS, resulting in enhanced Zn 2+ transport kinetics and uniform Zn 2+ deposition. Consequently, aqueous cells with the NMS achieve a long lifespan of 2300 h at 1 mA cm -2 and 1 mAh cm -2 , high cumulative plated capacity of 3.25 Ah cm -2 , and excellent reversibility with an average coulombic efficiency (CE) of 99.7 % over 800 cycles., (© 2024 Wiley-VCH GmbH.)

To investigate the effects of high temperature and carbon fiber-bar reinforcement on the dynamic mechanical properties of concrete materials, a muffle furnace was used to treat two kinds of specimens, plain and carbon fiber-bar reinforced concrete, at high temperatures of 25, 200, 400 and 600 °C. Impact compression tests were carried out on two specimens after high-temperature exposure using a Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) test setup combined with a high-speed camera device to observe the crack extension process of the specimens. The effects of high temperature and carbon fiber-bar reinforcement on the peak stress, energy dissipation density, crack propagation and fractal dimension of the concrete were analyzed. The results showed that the corresponding peak strengths of the plain concrete specimens at 25, 200, 400, and 600 °C were 88.37, 93.21, 68.85, and 54.90 MPa, respectively, and the peak strengths after the high-temperature exposure first increased slightly and then decreased rapidly. The mean peak strengths corresponding to the carbon fiber-bar reinforced concrete specimens after high-temperature action at 25, 200, 400, and 600 °C are 1.13, 1.13, 1.21, and 1.19 times that of plain concrete, respectively, and the mean crushing energy consumption densities are 1.27, 1.31, 1.73, and 1.59 times that of plain concrete, respectively. The addition of carbon fiber-bar reinforcement significantly enhanced the impact resistance and energy dissipation of the concrete structure, and the higher the temperature was, the more significant the increase. An increase in temperature increases the number of crack extensions and width, and the high tensile strength of the carbon fiber-bar reinforcement and the synergistic effect with the concrete material reduce the degree of crack extension in the specimen. The fractal dimension of the concrete ranged from 1.92 to 2.68, that of the carbon fiber-bar reinforced concrete specimens ranged from 1.61 to 2.42, and the mean values of the corresponding fractal dimensions of the plain concrete specimens after high-temperature effects at 25, 200, 400, and 600 °C were 1.19, 1.21, 1.10, and 1.11 times those of the fiber-reinforced concrete specimens, respectively. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the burden of kidney dysfunction (KD), assess socioeconomic inequalities, and project trends in the future., Methods: Data on deaths, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), years lived with disability (YLDs), and years of life lost (YLLs) were from Global Burden of Disease Study 2019. The Joinpoint regression model was utilized to analyze the temporal trend by the annual percentage change (APC). The slope index and concentration index were employed to evaluate cross-country disparities. The future trend was predicted using an age-period-cohort analysis., Results: In the past three decades, the death numbers of KD increased from 1,571,720 to 3,161,552, DALYs from 42,090,331 to 76,486,945, YLDs from 5,003,267 to 11,282,484, and YLLs from 37,087,065 to 65,204,461, respectively. The age-standardized rate (ASR) of deaths, DALYs, and YLLs exhibited a declining trend. The ASR of YLDs increased until 2017, then decreased. The slope index and concentration index for DALYs increased from 248.1 to 351.9 and from 40.70 to 57.8. In the future, the ASR of deaths, DALYs, YLDs, and YLLs will remain stable, while their numbers will continue to rise, except for YLLs., Conclusions: The disease burden of KD remained serious. Hydrogen sulfide is essential in numerous physiological and pathological processes and has emerged as a promising cancer imaging and signaling molecule and a potentially versatile therapeutic agent. However, the endogenous levels of hydrogen sulfide remain insufficient to perform its biological functions, and thus, developing novel strategies that amplify hydrogen sulfide signals at lesion sites is of increasing interest. In this work, a nanoplatform (SNP) based on hydrogen sulfide-responsive self-immolative poly(thiocarbamate) with localized hydrogen sulfide signal amplification capability is developed to encapsulate a hydrogen sulfide-responsive fluorescent probe (e.g., hemicyanine dye; p-Cy) or an anticancer prodrug (e.g., doxorubicin; p-DOX) to form a nanoprobe (SNP p-Cy ) or nanomedicine (SNP p-DOX ) for cancer imaging and therapy, respectively. SNP p-Cy exhibits a low detection limit for hydrogen sulfide, enabling ultrasensitive detection of small (<2 mm) tumors in female mice. In addition, SNP p-DOX can effectively inhibit the growth of DOX-resistant human breast cancer xenograft, lung metastasis, and patient-derived xenograft tumors in female mice., (© 2024. Peanut is an economically important crop, but it is susceptible to Cr contamination. In this study, we used peanut as experimental material to investigate the effects of exogenous P, Se interacting with Cr on the nutrient growth and antioxidant system of peanut seedlings by simulating Cr (0 μM, 50 μM, and 100 μM) stress environment. The results showed that exogenous P, Se supply could mitigate irreversible damage to peanut seedlings by altering the distribution of Cr in roots and aboveground, changing root conformation, and repairing damaged cells to promote growth. When the Cr concentration is 100 μM, it exhibits the highest toxicity. Compared to the control group P and Se (0 MM), the treatment with simultaneous addition of P + Se (0.5 + 6.0) resulted in a significant increase in root length and root tip number by 248.7% and 127.4%, respectively. Additionally, there was a 46.9% increase in chlorophyll content, a 190.2% increase in total surface area of the seedlings, and a respective increase of 149.1% and 180.3% in soluble protein content in the shoot and roots. In addition, by restricting the absorption of Cr and reducing the synthesis of superoxide dismutase SOD (Superoxide dismutase), CAT (Catalase), POD (Peroxidase), and MDA (Malonaldehyde), it effectively alleviates the oxidative stress on the antioxidant system. Therefore, the exogenous addition of P (0.5 MM) and Se (6.0 MM) prevented the optimal concentration of chromium toxicity to peanuts. Our research provides strong evidence that the exogenous combination of P and Se reduces the risk of peanut poisoning by Cr, while also exploring the optimal concentration of exogenous P and Se under laboratory conditions, providing a basis for further field experiments., (© 2024. The electrochemical properties of vanadium-based materials as cathode materials for aqueous zinc ion batteries are still restricted by low conductivity, sluggish reaction kinetics, and poor structural stability. Herein, the [VO 6 ] octahedron, as the basic unit of vanadium-oxide layer of ammonium vanadates (NH 4 V 4 O 10 , denoted as NVO), is incorporated by F atoms to regulate the coordinated environment of vanadium. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations and experimental results show that both physicochemical and electrochemical properties of NVO are improved by F-doping. The enhanced electronic conductivity accelerates the electron transfer and the expanded interlayer spacing expedites the diffusion kinetics of zinc ions. As a result, the F-doped NVO (F-NVO) electrode shows a high discharge capacity (465 mAh g -1 at 0.1 A g -1 ), good rate capability (260 mAh g -1 at 5 A g -1 ), and long-term cycling stability (88% capacity retention over 2000 cycles at 4 A g -1 ). Plasma vortices are ubiquitous in space and play important roles in the transmission of energy and mass at various scales. For small‐scale plasma vortices on the order of ion gyroradius, however, their properties and characteristics remain unclear. Here, we provide unique findings of an ion‐scale vortex observed in the Earth's magnetosheath. The vortex is generated by the ion diamagnetic drift associated with an isolated magnetic hole (MH). The magnetic field in the axial direction is reversed in the vortex center, which is consistent with ring‐shaped currents carried by the ions. The field strength becomes very weak (<1 nT) at the field reversal region, although the ion distributions vary rather continuously across the entire structure. A kinetic equilibrium model is then applied to reconstruct the above features. These findings can help us understand the plasma vortex and MH from magnetohydrodynamics to kinetic scales. Plain Language Summary: Turbulence, a chaotic state of fluid motion, occurs ubiquitously in the universe where vortices of different sizes appear and interact nonlinearly with one another. It plays a leading role in the energy transfer through a hierarchy of scales until its eventual dissipation. The turbulent processes become even more complicated in the ionized space plasmas, since the electromagnetic fields, different charged particle species, various waves and dissipation mechanisms must all be considered. This study presents the observations of a plasma vortex in Earth's turbulent magnetosheath, which is generated by the ion diamagnetic motion in association with a magnetic hole structure at the scale of ion gyroradius. The ultrafast measurements, obtained from NASA's flagship Magnetospheric MultiScale spacecraft, also show a unique feature of magnetic field reversal along the axial direction near the vortex center. The field reversal, produced by ring‐shaped currents carried by the ions, indicates complicated ion trajectories despite the relatively smooth variations of the observed ion distributions across the entire structure. We further generalize a kinetic equilibrium model to reconstruct the key observational features, which is helpful for the subsequent exploration of the cross‐scale coupling and evolution of the plasma vortices. Background: The progression of Parkinson's disease (PD) is related to ageing. The accumulation of nuclear alpha-synuclein (α-syn) may accelerate the occurrence of neurodegenerative diseases, but its role in PD remains poorly understood., Methods: In the present study, α-syn expression was specifically targeted to the nucleus by constructing an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector in which a nuclear localization sequence (NLS) was added to the α-syn coding sequence. Virus-mediated gene transfer, behavioural tests, RNA-Seq, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, and quantitative real-time PCR were then performed., Results: In vivo experiments using a mouse model showed that nuclear α-syn increased the severity of the PD-like phenotype, including the loss of dopaminergic neurons concomitant with motor impairment and the formation of α-syn inclusions. These nuclear inclusions contained α-syn species of high molecular weights and induced strong transcriptional dysregulation, especially induced high expression of p21 and senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP)-related genes. In this study, a convenient chitosan oligosaccharide laser lithograph (COSLL) technology was developed to fabricate laser-induced graphene (LIG) electrodes and flexible on-chip microsupercapacitors (MSCs). With a simple one-step CO 2 laser, the pyrolysis of a chitosan oligosaccharide (COS) and in situ welding of the generated LIGs to engineering plastic substrates are achieved simultaneously. The resulting LIG products display a hierarchical porous architecture, excellent electrical conductivity (6.3 Ω sq -1 ), and superhydrophilic properties, making them ideal electrode materials for MSCs. The pyrolysis-welding coupled mechanism is deeply discussed through cross-sectional analyses and finite element simulations. The MSCs prepared by COSLL exhibit considerable areal capacitance of over 4 mF cm -2 , which is comparable to that of the polyimide-LIG-based counterpart. COSLL is also compatible with complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) and micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) processes, enabling the fabrication of LIG/Au MSCs with comparable areal capacitance and lower internal resistance. Furthermore, the as-prepared MSCs demonstrate excellent mechanical robustness, long-cycle capability, and ease of series-parallel integration, benefiting their practical application in various scenarios. With the use of eco-friendly biomass carbon source and convenient process flowchart, the COSLL emerges as an attractive method for the fabrication of flexible LIG on-chip MSCs and various other advanced LIG devices.

Despite cisplatin's pivotal role in clinically proven anticancer drugs, its application has been hampered by severe side effects and a grim prognosis. Herein, we devised a glutathione (GSH)-responsive nanoparticle (PFS-NP) that integrates a disulfide bond-based amphiphilic polyphenol (PP-SS-DA), a dopamine-modified cisplatin prodrug (Pt-OH) and iron ions (Fe 3+ ) through coordination reactions between Fe 3+ and phenols. After entering cells, the responsively released Pt-OH and disulfide bonds eliminate the intracellular GSH, in turn disrupting the redox homeostasis. Meanwhile, the activated cisplatin elevates the intracellular H 2 O 2 level through cascade reactions. This is further utilized to produce highly toxic hydroxyl radicals (˙OH) catalyzed by the Fe 3+ -based Fenton reaction. Thus, the amplified oxidative stress leads to immunogenic cell death (ICD), promoting the maturation of dendritic cells (DCs) and ultimately activating the anti-tumor immune system. This innovative cisplatin prodrug nanoparticle approach offers a promising reference for minimizing side effects and optimizing the therapeutic effects of cisplatin-based drugs.

Atherosclerosis is a common form of cardiovascular disease, which is one of the most prevalent causes of death worldwide, particularly among older individuals. Surgery is the mainstay of treatment for severe stenotic lesions, though the rate of restenosis remains relatively high. Current medication therapy for atherosclerosis has limited efficacy in reversing the formation of atherosclerotic plaques. The search for new drug treatment options is imminent. Some potent medications have shown surprising therapeutic benefits in inhibiting inflammation and endothelial proliferation in plaques. Unfortunately, their use is restricted due to notable dose-dependent systemic side effects or degradation. Nevertheless, with advances in nanotechnology, an increasing number of nano-related medical applications are emerging, such as nano-drug delivery, nano-imaging, nanorobots, and so forth, which allow for restrictions on the use of novel atherosclerotic drugs to be lifted. This paper reviews new perspectives on the targeted delivery of nanoparticles to blood vessels for the treatment of atherosclerosis in both systemic and local drug delivery. In systemic drug delivery, nanoparticles inhibit drug degradation and reduce systemic toxicity through passive and active pathways. To further enhance the precise release of drugs, the localized delivery of nanoparticles can also be accomplished through blood vessel wall injection or using endovascular interventional devices coated with nanoparticles. Overall, nanotechnology holds boundless potential for the diagnosis and treatment of atherosclerotic diseases in the future.

Objective: With this study, we aimed to estimate the disease burden attributable to child and maternal malnutrition (CMM) throughout the world between 1990 and 2019., Methods: The number, age-standardized rate, population attributable fraction of deaths, disability-adjusted life-years, years of life lost, and years lived with disability associated with CMM were estimated using the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 by age, sex, year, location, and sociodemographic index at the global level. The slope index of inequality and concentration index were employed to measure socioeconomic-related health inequalities across countries., Results: The number (million) of global deaths, disability-adjusted life-years, and years of life lost related to CMM were 2.9, 294.8, and 250.5 in 2019, showing decreases of 60.8, 57.4, and 60.7% since 1990. However, the number of years lived with CMM-related disability increased from 36.0 in 1990 to 44.3 in 2019. Additionally, the age-standardized rates of these 4 indicators showed varying degrees of decline. The global burden of CMM-related conditions differed with age and sex. The burden was the heaviest in western sub-Saharan Africa, especially in Chad. In terms of diseases, neonatal disorders represented the most significant burden attributed to CMM. Additionally, the CMM burden was more concentrated in regions with low sociodemographic indices, shown by the slope index of inequality and concentration index., Conclusions: The findings of this study highlight the ongoing global burden of CMM, particularly in terms of years lived with disability.
