The objective of this research is to formulate a pathway for the revitalization and preservation of cultural heritage, offering empirical methodologies for the recognition and assessment of cultural heritage values, with the ultimate goal of facilitating the dynamic conservation of Timber-Arched Lounge Bridge cultural heritage. Hence, the present research has developed an approach called the activation protection path method for comprehending, evaluating, and revitalizing the invaluable aspects of vernacular cultural heritage. To begin with, by employing the lens of Cultural Memory Theory and leveraging its holistic approach, the significance of Timber-Arched Lounge Bridges as a cultural heritage site is examined. Furthermore, an elaborate index system is devised to facilitate the assessment of its value. Secondly, an evaluation model was constructed to assess the cultural heritage value of the Timber-Arched Lounge Bridge. This paper explores the influencing factors of cultural heritage value as the research basis for the cultural heritage revitalization and protection work of Timber-Arched Lounge Bridge. Based on the case study of 19 preservation units of Timber-Arched Lounge Bridges in Shouning County, Fujian Province, the findings can be concluded as follows: 1). Cultural Heritage Value: The cultural heritage value of Timber-Arched Lounge Bridge in Shouning County is estimated to be approximately 178.45 million yuan. Among the different systems, the Text system accounts for 16%, the Image system accounts for 44%, and the Ritual system accounts for 40%. 2). Activation Investment Ratio: Based on the evaluation results of each index value of Timber-Arched Lounge Bridge cultural heritage, this study establishes the capital investment ratio for activating the heritage. This ratio provides guidance for successfully implementing the practical path of activating and protecting the cultural heritage of Timber-Arched Lounge Bridge. Through an in-depth analysis of the heritage value of Timber-Arched Lounge Bridge and the establishment of an evaluation model, this study lays the foundation for activating and preserving vernacular cultural heritage. By promoting the construction of the value subject’s identity, this research contributes to guiding the practical path of activating and protecting the living heritage of Timber-Arched Lounge Bridges.

Background Idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) is a group of connective tissue diseases characterized by muscle inflammation and muscle weakness, lung involvement is an important factor affecting the prognosis of patients. IIM can be classified into different clinical subtypes based on myositis-specific antibodies (MSAs), there are significant differences in clinical manifestations, organ involvement, prognosis and the risk of interstitial lung disease among different clinical subtypes. Objective To explore the characteristics of IIM and its different clinical subtypes, the risk factors for the development of interstitial lung disease. Methods The clinical data of patients hospitalizedin department of rheumatology and immunology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University and diagnosed with IIM from April 2018 to February 2021 were collected. The included patients were divided into four clinical subtypes based on MSAs, including anti-MDA5-positive dermatomyositis (DM), anti-MDA5-negative DM, immune-mediated necrotizing myositis (IMNM) and anti-synthetase syndrome (ASS) subtypes. The general data, clinical manifestations, laboratory examination results were compared among different clinical subtypes. Multivariate Logistic regression model was established to explore the risk factors for ILD in patients with IIM. Results The 150 patients with IIM were divided into 4 clinical subtypes, including 30 patients with anti-MDA5-positive DM subtype (20.0%), 58 patients with anti-MDA5-negative DM subtype (38.7%), 14 patients with IMNM subtype (9.3%), and 48 patients with ASS subtype (32.0%). There were significant differences in the incidence of muscle weakness, myalgia, ILD, heliotrope rash, shawl sign, Gottron papules or Gottron sign, arthralgia, periungual red spot and dysphagia among the four clinical subtypes (P403.2 μg/L, IgG>14.15 g/L, LDH>359.5 U/L were all risk factors for ILD in IIM (P

In this study, cold plasma treatments are employed to modify peanuts. This study systematically investigates the effects of various plasma treatment conditions, including power, duration, and gas type, on the microstructure of peanut seed coats and embryos. Observations under a scanning electron microscope (SEM) reveal that as plasma treatment power increases from 100 W to 500 W, the etching level of peanut seed coats significantly intensifies, surface roughness deepens, and concavities become more pronounced. Additionally, micro-pores on the seed coat gradually enlarge and form cracks. Specifically, when the plasma treatment is set at 200 W for 60 s, the oxygen (O2) treatment group shows interconnected cracks on the peanut seed coat surface, with lipid particles exuding and protein particles and polymers decomposing. In contrast, the helium (He) treatment group displays clear cell structures and deep grooves, with no noticeable lipid particles exuding around surface cracks. The argon (Ar) treatment group exhibits a distinct rectangular cell structure with clear boundaries, and although surface cracks form, only a few protein particles escape from the cracks. The embryo surface structure becomes looser after plasma treatment, leading to the disintegration of lipid particles, protein particles, and polymers, affecting the fusion and migration of large and small lipid bodies within the peanut’s internal structure. Increasing treatment duration intensifies the etching phenomenon, resulting in more lipid particles exuding, which indicates a positive correlation between lipid particles exuding and treatment duration. This study sheds light on the mechanisms underlying changes in peanut microstructure due to cold plasma treatment, providing scientific evidence for improving peanut quality, enhancing oil extraction efficiency, and optimizing food processing techniques.

As an anti-staling agent in bread, the desorption isotherm of polydextrose has not been studied due to a very long equilibrium time. The adsorption and desorption isotherms of five Chinese polydextrose products were measured in the range of 0.1–0.9 aw and 20–35 °C by a dynamic moisture sorption analyzer. The results show that the shape of adsorption and desorption isotherms was similar to that of amorphous lactose. In the range of 0.1–0.8 aw, the hysteresis between desorption and adsorption of polydextrose was significant. The sorption isotherms of polydextrose can be fitted by seven commonly used models, and our developed seven-parameter polynomial, the adsorption equations of generalized D’Arcy and Watt (GDW) and Ferro-Fontan, and desorption equations of polynomial and Peleg, performed well in the range of 0.1–0.9 aw. The hysteresis curves of polydextrose at four temperatures quickly decreased with aw increase at aw ˂ 0.5, andthereafter slowly decreased when aw ≥ 0.5. The polynomial fitting hysteresis curves of polydextrose were divided into three regions: ˂0.2, 0.2–0.7, and 0.71–0.9 aw. The addition of 0–10% polydextrose to rice starch decreased the surface adsorption and bulk absorption during the adsorption and desorption of rice starch, while it increased the water adsorption value at aw ≥ 0.7 due to polydextrose dissolution. DSC analysis showed that polydextrose as a gelling agent inhibited the retrogradation of rice starch, which could be used to maintain the quality of cooked rice.

Abstract Background and Aims Atherosclerosis (AS) risk increases in patients with systemic autoimmune diseases. The association and mechanism between primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS) and AS haven't been explained for now. We did this cross‐sectional study to clarify the prevalence and risk factors of AS in patients with pSS, and to further explore how immune cells and inflammatory cytokines work in the process. Methods Patients with pSS were enrolled. General information, AS events, immune cells, inflammatory cytokines, and related clinical data were recorded. Prevalence of AS events was calculated. Correlation analysis between immune factors and AS quantitative parameters were conducted by SPSS v20.0. Results A total of 155 pSS patients were included with a median Framingham 10‐year risk of 7%. Sixty‐four AS events were recorded, with a prevalence of 41.3%. Carotid intima‐media thickness was positively correlated to immunoglobulin (Ig) A (r = 0.245, p = 0.030) and negatively correlated to IgM (r = −0.227, p = 0.045). Left ankle‐brachial pulse wave velocity (baPWV) was positively correlated to the course of disease (r = 0.352, p = 0.004), B cells (r = 0.410, p = 0.001), and T helper (Th) cells (r = 0.284, p = 0.029), while negatively correlated to IgM (r = −0.257, p = 0.042). To establish the safe and reproducible effects of cold plasma (CP) technology on food products, this study evaluated the gelatinization parameters, fatty acid profile, and hygroscopic properties of rice grains repeatedly treated with low-pressure radiofrequency (RF) helium CP (13.56 MHz, 140 Pa, 120 W-20s, 0–4 times, and 300 g sample). Compared with the untreated (zero times) sample, with an increase in CP treatment times from one to four on rice, the water contact angle and cooking time decreased, while the water absorption rate and freshness index increased, and the pH value remained unchanged. CP repeating treatments essentially had no effect on the gelatinization enthalpy, but significantly increased the peak temperature of gelatinization. From the pasting profile of rice that has been repeatedly CP treated, the peak, breakdown, and setback viscosities in flour paste decreased. CP repeating treatments on rice did not change the short-range molecular order of starch. Compared with the untreated sample, the first helium CP treatment maintained the content of C18:1n9c, C18:2n6c, and C18:3n3, but the second to fourth CP treatment significantly decreased contents of these fatty acids (FAs) as the C18:0 content increased. The first three CP treatments can increase the water and sucrose solvent retention capacity in rice flours. CP repeatedly treated rice first exhibits the similar monolayer water content and solid surface area of water sorption. Principal component analysis shows that contact angle, pasting parameters, and fatty acid profile in milled rice are quite sensitive to CP treatment. Results support that the effect of low-pressure RF 120W helium CP treatment 20 s on rice grains is perdurable, and the improvement of CP intermittent treatments on rice cooking and pasting properties is an added benefit, and the hygroscopic properties of rice was kept.

This study investigated the relationship between the intergranular air properties of grain bulk and the quality of Japonica paddy stored in a large warehouse cooled by air conditioning (A/C) during oversummering. The psychrometric properties of the intergranular air such as relative humidity, humidity ratio, and wet-bulb temperature, were calculated by a software module. The 2569 tonnes of paddy with 14.5% moisture content (wet basis) was stored in a warehouse in Qihe County, Shandong Province, China, from 16 December 2019 to 9 September 2020. The grain temperature increased more rapidly near the top surface than in other layers of the paddy bulk, reaching the set temperature of 23 °C under A/C cooling, which started from storage day 174 (June 8, 2020). Two 14 kW A/C units (5.5 W t−1 paddy) were sufficient to maintain the set temperature of 23 °C in the headspace. The total electricity consumption was 9.2 kWh t−1 in the two cooling periods (June 8–August 10 and August 28–September 9). When the top surface was cooled by A/C, moisture transferred upwards from the bottom to top surface of the grain bulk, which created favorable conditions for insect growth and the whole grain bulk was fumigated from August 11 to 27. The quality indicators measured in different bulk layers did not change significantly during summer. Regression analysis shows that the percentages of milled rice and head rice, and the taste values and taste panel scores were significantly influenced by the cumulative intergranular air parameters in the paddy bulk. The results suggest that the cumulative intergranular air properties of the grain bulk are useful indicators for assessing the status of paddy stored in a large cooled warehouse.

In order to evaluate the quality parameters for short-term stored paddy with slightly high moisture, this study determined the changes in intergranular air relative humidity (RH) and wetbulb temperature of grain bulk with an equilibrium moisture model and Newton-Raphson method, and analyzed the effect of their accumulation amount during storage on thermal and thermo-mechanical properties, and lipid components, and appearance quality indexes in milled rice. The japonica paddy with 15.3% MC was put into warehouse in winter and stored for 163 days, when the average dry temperature in bulk increased from 8.3 to 22.9°C, the average RH in bulk layer 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively increased 3.6%, 3.0%, 2.9%, and 2.9% from 75.1%, and wetbulb temperature respectively increased 15.21, 13.57, 13.47 and 13.29 °C from 6.2 °C, showing no damage from stored insects and fungi. The gelatinization peak temperature of rice flour measured by DSC remained unchanged. A Mixolab analysis showed, during paddy storage from 45 to 213 d, dough development time and stability time, and starch setback torque gradually increased, but enzymatic speed decreased. GC-MS analysis showed the percent of the main fatty acid species kept unchanged during 213 d paddy storage. External indexes like accumulation of grain bulk maximum temperature, and accumulation of wetbulb temperature corresponding to bulk maximum temperature, and internal indexes such as the temperature, area and height of rice flour gelatinization peak measured by DSC, and dough development time and stability time, gelatinization peak torque and enzymatic speed in rice flour measured by a Mixolab, and fatty acid components (C14:1, C14:0, C20:5n3, C20:3n6, C20:2, C20:1, C24:1, C24:0), as well as rice appearance quality indexes like head rice percentage, small broken kernel rate, and kernel size could be used as the evaluation indexes for the low temperature storage of a japonica paddy with slightly high moisture.

More and more people concern about supplementing dietary food with wheat bran to increase fibre content, but there has been little study of the sorption isotherms and isosteric heats of wheat bran fibre products, which are important to the quality and storage durability of such commodities. This study collected equilibrium moisture content (EMC) and equilibrium relative humidity (ERH) data on six Chinese wheat bran products via the static gravimetric method and analysed their sorption isosteric heats. Results showed that all six wheat bran products had sigmoidal isotherms. The data were best fitted by polynomial, modified GAB, modified Oswin, and modified Halsey models. The relative safe moisture contents of the six wheat bran products were 12.20%–13.86% wet basis (w.b.). The heat of vaporization of wheat bran products approached the latent heat of pure water at around a moisture content (MC) of 22.5% and approximately 2450 kJ/kg. A process of extrusion and ultrafine grinding reduced the solid surface area and sorption isosteric heats of the monolayer, multilayer and condensed water regions in the wheat bran products. In the temperature range of 10–37 °C, the EMC of sorption in monolayer, multilayer and condensed water regions decreased with increasing temperature. The milled rice to which 1%–3% 200-mesh wheat bran product was added maintained its texture when made into cooked rice and its thermomechanical properties when made into rice dough. After processing by extrusion and ultrafine grinding, wheat bran products have a lower solid surface area and lower monolayer water content (Mm) and sorption isosteric heat values. Some 3% 200-mesh wheat bran product can be added to cooked rice for increasing its fibre content and making it more nutritious.

Grain can be stored for long periods under suitable storage conditions. The present study investigated the effects of cooling aeration on the intergranular air properties and grain quality of wheat stored in two squat silos during winter. In the first silo, 4759 tonnes of bulk wheat were downward-aerated in a suction-type way by four 11 kW centrifugal ventilation fans at an airflow rate of 10.1 m3/(h·t). The fans were firstly controlled by software based on a smart de-moisturization aeration model, and the grain bulk lost 0.8% moisture content (MC) and its average temperature was decreased by 5.8 °C. When the fans were then controlled using smart cooldown aeration model, the average bulk temperature decreased from 17.0 to 5.2 °C, and the average bulk MC was reduced by 0.6%. The cooling fronts moved predictably through the bulk layers during cooldown aeration, which consumed energy at a rate of 0.067 . In a second silo, 4,675 tonnes of wheat were also downward-aerated at 9.8 m3/(h·t) using smart cooldown aeration model and four 5.5 kW mixed-flow fans. There was a 0.7% MC loss and the average bulk temperature decreased by 6.7 °C. Except for the middle part (fourth and seventh) bulk layers, the other bulk layers in this silo had cooling fronts that moved at similar speeds. The energy consumed by cooldown aeration was 0.040kWh(t·∘C)−1 and 58% unit energy consumption was lowered when compared to a local grain squat silo with geosynclinal ventilation ducts under artificially controlled cooling-ventilation operations. The running conditions for the ventilation fans during cooldown aeration in the squat silos were verified. (i) The temperature difference between the grain bulk and ambient air was ≥ 4 °C. (ii) The humidity ratio of the grain bulk was higher than that of the ambient air. The equilibrium relative humidity of the intergranular air tended to decrease in both silos. After cooldown aeration, the wheat kernels had a higher water absorption rate and fatty acid value, retentive peak temperature of gelatinization, and a higher dough development time, protein network strength, and starch gelatinization rate. The proposed aeration control system has good application potential in squat silos used for grain storage.

This research investigated the storability of sea rice paddy in an experimental silo for 11.5 months. Water was circulated in the silo walls from June 30 to maintain a grain bulk temperature of 23°C. The dry-bulb temperatures in three layers (top, middle, and bottom) of paddy bulk showed very small differences, but the intergranular air parameters such as relative humidity (RH), wet-bulb temperature and humidity ratio in middle and bottom bulk layers were significantly higher than those of top bulk layer, and storage insects occurred in these two bulk layers from August to September as a result that sulfuryl fluoride gas fumigation was done on September 30. During storage, the rice's water absorption rate and gruel solids loss decreased with storage time, while the peak temperature of gelatinization (Tp) increased, and water uptake ratio and taste panel score remained unchanged. Fatty acid profile analysis shows that the total, saturated, and unsaturated fatty acid concentrations decreased with storage time, while the unsaturated-to-saturated fatty acid ratio increased. Compared to top bulk layer, the bottom layer had lower water absorption rate and fatty acid concentration, and a similar Tp and better cooking property. Further compared with a short-grain Japonica paddy (cv. Yanfeng) stored in a large cooled warehouse before and after oversummering, sea rice paddy stored in the experimental silo had lower protein content, but had a higher Tp, poly-unsaturated fatty acid content and unsaturated-to-saturated fatty acid ratio, and similar amylose content and taste panel score. These results suggest that sea rice has good storability, and quasi-low-temperature storage (23°C) requires autumn chemical fumigation to control the storage insects.

Abstract Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is an infectious disease caused by Leishmania donovani and transmitted by sandflies. It can be life‐threatening if not treated. Common clinical features of VL include recurrent fever, pancytopenia, splenomegaly, and a variety of positive autoantibodies, which can lead to a misdiagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We report the case of a 25‐year‐old woman with VL misdiagnosed as SLE to add to the existing literature on this subject.

Although previous studies showed that women’s menopause-related symptoms varied in different ethnic groups and countries, and were affected by specific social and cultural factors, few studies have been conducted to explore menopause-related symptoms and its influencing factors in middle-aged women among ethnic groups in China. This study aimed to explore the characteristics of menopause-related symptoms and its influencing factors among Mosuo, Yi, and Han women in Yongning area of Yunnan province, China. A cross-cultural design by snowball sampling method was used to recruit 208 women aged 40–60 from Yongning Township, Ninglang County, Yunnan province, China. The 11-item Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) was used to assess menopause-related symptoms. Compared with Yi and Han women, Mosuo women were accorded the highest family status. Multiple linear regression analyses showed that ethnicity, age, family support, and family decision-making patterns were associated with the severity of menopause-related symptoms. Yi and Han women had more severe menopause-related symptoms than Mosuo women. Among the three groups, women living in “female-dominated” and “co-deliberated” households had significantly lower scores of menopause-related symptoms than those in “male-dominated” households. This study indicates that menopause-related symptoms vary among middle-aged women in different ethnic groups. A higher level of female status in the family and family support may be protective factors of menopause-related symptoms in middle-aged women.

Abstract Fundamental understanding of the effect of doping on the optical properties of 3D double perovskites (DPs) especially the dynamics of self‐trapped excitons (STEs) is of vital importance for their optoelectronic applications. Herein, a unique strategy via Cu+ doping to achieve efficient STE emission in the alloyed lead‐free Cs2(Ag/Na)InCl6 DPs is reported. A small amount (1.0 mol%) of Cu+ doping results in boosted STE emission in the crystals, with photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield increasing from 19.0% to 62.6% and excitation band shifting from 310 to 365 nm. Temperature‐dependent PL and femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopies reveal that the remarkable PL enhancement originates from the increased radiative recombination rate and density of STEs, as a result of symmetry breakdown of the STE wavefunction at the octahedral Ag+ site. These findings provide deep insights into the STE dynamics in Cu+‐doped Cs2(Ag/Na)InCl6, thereby laying a foundation for the future design of new lead‐free DPs with efficient STE emission.

Abstract Near‐infrared (NIR) light, which has ignorable tissue scattering/absorption, minimal photodamage, and no autofluorescence interference, is highly favorable for bioapplications. NIR dye and lanthanide‐doped nanoparticle (LnNP), as representative NIR‐excited luminescence probes, have attracted increasing interest due to their unique optical property and low biological toxicity. Design of luminescence probes based on NIR dye/LnNP nanocomposites cannot only integrate the advantages but also achieve additional functions via regulating internal energy transfer pathways. In this review, we focus on the most recent advances in the development of NIR dye/LnNP nanocomposites as potential bioprobes, which cover from their fundamental photophysics to bioapplications, including energy transfer mechanisms, interface engineering (involving binding interaction, distance, and aggregation as key factors), and their applications for dye‐sensitized upconversion/downshifting luminescent bioimaging, detection of biomolecules, and NIR‐triggered diagnosis and therapy. Some future prospects and efforts toward this active research field are also envisioned.

Abstract Intracellular detection is highly desirable for biological research and clinical diagnosis, yet its quantitative analysis with noninvasivity, sensitivity, and accuracy remains challenging. Herein, a near‐infrared (NIR) dual‐excitation strategy is reported for ratiometric intracellular detection through the design of dye‐sensitized upconversion probes and employment of a purpose‐built NIR dual‐laser confocal microscope. NIR dye IR808, a recognizer of intracellular analyte hypochlorite, is introduced as energy donor and Yb,Er‐doped NaGdF4 upconversion nanoparticles are adopted as energy acceptor in the as‐designed nanoprobes. The efficient analyte‐dependent energy transfer and low background luminescence endow the nanoprobes with ultrahigh sensitivity. In addition, with the nonanalyte‐dependent upconversion luminescence (UCL) excited by 980 nm as a self‐calibrated signal, the interference from environmental fluctuation can be alleviated. Furthermore, the dual 808/980 nm excited ratiometric UCL is demonstrated for the quantification of the level of intracellular hypochlorite. Particularly, the intrinsic hypochlorite with only nanomolar concentration in live MCF‐7 cells in the absence of exogenous stimuli is determined. Such an NIR dual‐excitation ratiometric strategy based on dye‐sensitized UCL probes can be easily extended to detect various intracellular analytes through tailoring the reactive NIR dyes, which provides a promising tool for probing biochemical processes in live cells and diagnosing diseases.
