Mulberry (Morus alba L.) plants are rich in 1-deoxynojirimycin (DNJ), which is a potential α-glucosidase inhibitor exhibiting various physiological activities. Compared to other tissues, Morus alba L. seeds contain the highest DNJ content, however, the DNJ biosynthesis mechanisms are unclear. In this study, we examined fruits of 27 mulberry varieties and found that variety MS02 had the highest DNJ levels (22.28 mg/g), whereas variety MS15 contained the lowest DNJ levels (0.37 mg/g). Through comparative transcriptomics, 1,719 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified, 1,170 of which were upregulated, and 549 were downregulated in MS02 compared to MS15. DEGs were associated with cellular processes, metabolic processes, and catalytic activity. Specifically, nine DEGs were identified to be involved in alkaloid biosynthesis pathways, according to Kyoto Encyclopaedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment analysis, and four enzymes, i.e. polyphenol oxidase, tyrosine aminotransferase, aromatic-L-amino-acid decarboxylase, and tropinone reductase, are proposed to play important roles in DNJ biosynthesis. In conclusion, DNJ biosynthesis in mulberry seeds appears to be mediated by upregulation of polyphenol oxidase, tyrosine aminotransferase, aromatic-L-amino-acid decarboxylase, and tropinone reductase. Direct catalytic conversion of methane to liquid oxygenates under mild conditions remains a challenge due to high bond energy of symmetric CH4. Isolated Rh atoms were supported on hydrophobic fluorine modified TS-1 (FTS-1). Single-atom Rh on FTS-1 catalyst was characterized with Ac-HAADF/STEM and CO adsorption FTIR. The aerobic selective conversion of methane to oxygenates was carried out in a fixed bed continuous flow reactor upon co-feeding CO and H2O at 423 K under relative low pressure (42.3 kPa CH4, 21.1 kPa CO, 10.6 kPa O2, 0.476 MPa H2O). Hydrophobic Rh/FTS-1 catalyst exhibits higher activity (151.9 molproducts/(molmetalh)) than the activity (36.4 molproducts/(molmetalh)) over hydrophilic Rh-ZSM-5 (Si/Al = 15) under such reaction conditions. Hydrophobicity of different catalysts were compared by water adsorption test. The catalytic activity of F modified TS-1 supported single-atom Rh (Rh/FTS-1) is higher than that of unmodified Rh/TS-1 which is due to its higher Lewis acidity as shown by pyridine adsorption FTIR and NH3-TPD. In this study, Ulva prolifera protein was used for preparing angiotensin-I converting enzyme (ACE)-inhibitory peptide via virtual gastrointestinal digestion and in silico screening. Some parameters of the obtained peptide, such as inhibition kinetics, docking mechanism, stability, transport pathway, were explored by Lineweaver-Burk plots, molecular docking, in vitro stimulate gastrointestinal (GI) digestion and Caco-2 cells monolayer model, respectively. Then, a novel anti-ACE peptide LDF (IC50, (1.66 ± 0.34) µmol/L) was screened and synthesized by chemical synthesis. It was a no-competitive inhibitor and its anti-ACE inhibitory effect mainly attributable to four Conventional Hydrogen Bonds and Zn701 interactions. It could keep activity during simulated GI digestion in vitro and was transported by peptide transporter PepT1 and passive-mediated mode. Besides, it could activate Endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) activity to promote the production of NO and reduce Endothelin-1 (ET-1) secretion induced by Angiotensin II (Ang II) in Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVECs). Meanwhile, it could promote mice splenocytes proliferation in a concentration-dependent manner. A bio-corrodible nitrided iron stent was developed using a vacuum plasma nitriding technique. In the nitrided iron stents, the tensile strength, radial strength, stiffness and in vitro electrochemical corrosion rate were significantly increased compared with those of the control pure iron stent. To evaluate its performance in vivo, the deployment of the nitrided iron stents in juvenile pig iliac arteries was performed. At 3 or 6 months postoperatively, the stented vessels remained patent well; however, slight luminal loss resulting from intimal hyperplasia and relative stenosis of the stented vessel segment with piglets growth were observed by 12 months; no thrombosis or local tissue necrosis was found. At 1 month postoperatively, a nearly intact layer of endothelial cells formed on the stented vessel wall. Additionally, a decreased inflammation scoring, considerably corroded struts and corrosion products accumulation were seen.
