The intricacy of real-world challenges in project-based geoscience learning is complex to assess with a STEM approach; hence, research into an effective model is necessary to address current issues in education. Understanding the role of STEM in resolving challenging real-world issues requires integrating STEM literacy that is appropriate for geoscience education. This study examines the effectiveness of the Project-Based Geoscience Learning (PJBGL) model in enhancing STEM literacy. By integrating project-based learning with geoscience, the aim is to create an interactive and immersive learning environment. The study seeks to contribute to knowledge about the effectiveness of this model compared to the conventional model. The aim was to evaluate the PJBGL model's impact on students' literacy, particularly in the geosciences. The study utilized a pretest-posttest control group design with 33 students, 19 in the experimental group and 14 in the control group, collecting STEM literacy data using a test instrument and analyzing the data with the Mann-Whitney test. Effect Size calculation using Cohen's d and increased STEM literacy was tested with the N-Gain formula. The research results show that the PJBGL model is more effective in increasing STEM literacy in geoscience learning than the conventional learning model. This finding holds implications for educators and curriculum developers seeking innovative strategies to cultivate students' STEM literacy

The aim of the research is to analyze the technological addiction of middle and high school students in the context of swimming, by examining variables such as gender, school level, attitudes towards swimming, and participation in swimming. The study was carried out utilizing causal-comparative and correlational research methodologies. Study's target population comprises middle and high school students enrolled in Medan during the academic year of 2022-2023. The study's sample comprises 268 students, with 126 females and 146 males, who were selected from the population through convenience sampling. Technology Addiction Scale (TAS), Swimming Participation Scale (SPS) and Attitude Scale Towards Swimming (STS) were used as data collection tool. Study employed the independent samples t-test method to examine the potential differences in technology addiction, swimming attitude, and participation scores among students based on gender, school level, and regular sports participation variables. The study employed Pearson's moment product-moment correlation coefficient and regression analysis methods to examine the associations among students' technology dependence, swimming attitudes, and participation scores. According to the results, a significant difference was found between the technological addiction scores of the students who regularly do swimming and those who do not. Moreover, there wasn't significant difference between genders in swimming attitude and swimming participation scores. The higher levels of technological addiction observed among high school students compared to middle school students in the domains of instant messaging and overall technological addiction. The significant and negative relationships between attitude towards swimming, participation in swimming, and technological addiction emphasize the potential function of swimming as a protective factor against addictive behaviors.

Creative thinking skills are crucial to current generations dealing with 21st-century challenges. However, studies on higher-order thinking skills remain limited. CTS can be easily empowered if students have good metacognitive abilities. This study analysed the effect of STEM-based online learning lesson plans on the CTS of students and metacognitive abilities on the inheritance of living things through online learning. The pretest-posttest research designs with a non-equivalent control group were used. The treatment given in the experimental class was the implementation of a STEM-based online learning lesson plan, while the control class was taught through traditional methods used by the teachers. The results of this study indicated that the CTS and metacognitive abilities of students in the experimental class were significantly higher than that of the control class [F(1,54) = 105.287, p = 0.000 and F(1,54) = 103.943, p = 0.000, respectively]. In conclusion, the STEM-based online learning lesson plan is effective in improving the CTS and metacognitive abilities of students.

This study aimed to develop a two-tier light concept test to identify student concept understanding of light. The development of the test was carried out through the content validity, construct validity, and reliability test stages using the Item Response Theory (IRT). The sample consisted of 81 students during the second semester at five universities in Indonesia. The results showed that the instrument met the content validity and construct validity criteria as well as reliability. Efforts are needed to improve concepts in light material.

This study aimed to determine the appropriate timing for substituting live feed with artificial feed in the rearing of Channa striata larvae. The larvae at the age of 2 days after hatching (DAH) with an average initial length and weight of 6.27 ± 0.88 mm and 0.53 ± 0.01 mg, respectively, were used as the experimental biota. Larvae were randomly distributed into 16 containers, with a stocking density of 350 individuals per container. The study was conducted with four treatments, each with four replications. The larvae were co-fed Moina sp. and artificial feed at 6, 8, 10, and 12 DAH with a reduction of Moina sp. starting from 0.5% to 5.0%. The measured parameters showed the most favorable results when initiating artificial feeding at 12 DAH with survival rate of 89.52 ± 4.49%, and specific growth rate of 15.67 ± 0.25% per day with artificial feed conversion ratio of 51.79 ± 0.09. The enzyme activity and intestinal histology showed the effect of the co-feeding regime on intestinal development. Finally, the present study revealed that the weaning period for C. striata larvae could be conducted at 12–16 DAH and artificial feeding may be implemented at 17 DAH.

The Al-Anshar Foundation is an institution currently undertaking various projects and initiatives in the fields of education, social welfare, health, economics, culture, and public health. One of the business units managed by the foundation is the Ikhwan Meatball business, which is currently facing challenges such as limited production and market reach due to the short shelf life of the meatballs produced at room temperature. In this community engagement activity, a team consist of lecturers in the fields of chemical engineering and agriculture, was making efforts to assist the partner in addressing these challenges by equipping them with knowledge and skills to use liquid smoke from coconut shell as a natural preservative in meatball production. The activities included coordination with relevant parties, assistance in liquid smoke production, training on liquid smoke usage, product’s packaging improvement, and monitoring and evaluation. This initiative has yielded positive impacts, including an increase in the partner's skills in producing liquid smoke, a better understanding of the partner regarding the utilization of liquid smoke in meatball production, and an extension of the product's shelf life.

Emulsifier as the mixture of monoglycerides (MG) and diglycerides (DG) is widely used in the food industry such as bakery products, margarines, dairy products, and confectionary. This emulsifier can be produced by glycerolysis of fatty acids using acid catalyst. In this work, natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES) was chosen as a catalyst in the glycerolysis of stearic acid due to greener and sustainable catalyst with advantages such as low vapor pressure, non-toxic, biodegradable, and easy to reuse. The catalytic activity of the NADES, kinetic constants and activation energies for the reaction were investigated. The reaction was carried out at agitation speed (300 rpm), catalyst concentration (5 wt%), reaction temperatures (120 °C, 150 °C and 180 °C) and reactant mole ratios (1:2, 1:4 and 1:6). Choline chloride-sorbitol NADES has highest catalytic activity on the glycerolysis of stearic acid. The kinetic calculation results using choline chloride-sorbitol NADES as a catalyst validated that the reaction was pseudo second order with an activation energy of 64.04 kJ∙mol−1, and a collision factor of 196,696 L∙mol−1∙min−1. This kinetics data will be useful for reactor design in industrial applications.

Abstract Trypanosoma evansi is reportedly divided into two genotypes: types A and B. The type B is uncommon and reportedly limited to Africa: Kenya Sudan, and Ethiopia. In contrast, type A has been widely reported in Africa, South America, and Asia. However, Trypanosoma evansi type non-A/B has never been reported. Therefore, this study aims to determine the species and genotype of the Trypanozoon subgenus using a robust identification algorithm. Forty-three trypanosoma isolates from Indonesia were identified as Trypanosoma evansi using a molecular identification algorithm. Further identification showed that 39 isolates were type A and 4 isolates were possibly non-A/B types. The PML, AMN-SB1, and STENT3 isolates were likely non-A/B type Trypanosoma evansi isolated from buffalo, while the PDE isolates were isolated from cattle. Cladistic analysis revealed that Indonesian Trypanosoma evansi was divided into seven clusters based on the gRNA-kDNA minicircle gene. Clusters 6 and 7 are each divided into two sub-clusters. The areas with the highest genetic diversity are the provinces of Banten, Central Java (included Yogyakarta), and East Nusa Tenggara. The Central Java (including Yogyakarta) and East Nusa Tenggara provinces, each have four sub-clusters, while Banten has three.

Introduction: The study aimed to ascertain how the faculty at the Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University perceived their role as a tutor during a problem-based learning activity during the academic phase of medical education, based on the length of time they acted as a tutor. Methods: This was prospective observational research with an explanatory sequential mixed-method design, which was performed at the Undergraduate Medical Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, from January 2023 until May 2023. Research subjects were divided into two groups: a) the Novice group and b) the Expert group. Quantitative data were collected by giving a questionnaire containing six categories with 35 questions and distributed by Google form. Teachers are the key to the success of a nation in improving the quality of life of its people in the future. This research aims to find research gaps with previous research which makes four main points to be used as questions in this research, namely 1. Analyzing the characteristics of millennial employees, work culture, and personal job fit towards lecturer competence. 2. Analyzing millennial employees, work culture, and personal job fit on lecturer performance 3. Analyzing lecturer competency on lecturer performance 4. Analyzing the extent to which the role of lecturer competence mediates the characteristics of millennial employees, work culture, and personal job fit on lecturer performance. This research method uses quantitative research with an explanatory research approach. The number of samples in this study was 105 selected using the census method. To test the hypothesis in this study, structural equation model analysis techniques were used. The results of this research show that the findings show that efforts to increase Employee Engagement through millennial employee characteristics, work culture, and personal job Fit have the potential to make a positive contribution to improving employee performance. The following recommendations are for teachers to increase employee engagement, so teachers need to be focused and stimulated to encourage teachers to be more innovative in their work so they can improve teacher performance and for future researchers to evaluate the variables of this research on different populations and increase the population size.

This study aimed to analyze the Research-Based Learning (RBL) model implementation in the natural sciences in improving students' analytical thinking skills. This study employed a mixed-method with a sequential exploratory design. Data collection began with qualitative data and then continued with quantitative data. Qualitative data collection techniques used observation and interviews, while quantitative data collection used essay tests. Sampling was carried out before the research implementation. The samples were students of the PGMI IAIN Surakarta Study Program, Indonesia, which consisted of 34 pre-service elementary school teachers. The research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. Quantitative data analysis techniques used a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest. Based on the results of four observations on the research treatments, the mean was 3.714, in which the values of preliminary activities were 3.625, core activities were 3.714, and closing activities were 3.75, used a rating scale (1-4) with the very good category. The RBL model implementation in the natural sciences in the concept of energy can improve the analytical thinking skills of students, as evidenced by the N-gain value was 56.57%in the medium category. This increase was obtained from the mean of the pretest score (46.84) and the post-test score (76.9), by using a rating scale (0-100). The research findings provide ideas to lecturers and researchers in improving the student's analytical thinking skills through the application of innovative learning models in the topic of the concept of energy.

Tujuan studi. Tujuan penelitian ini meningkatkan keterampilan passing bawah dengan menggunakan model Project Based Learning (PjBL). Bahan dan metode. Rancangan penelitian model Kurt Lewin merupakan rancangan penelitian yang digunakan terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu, perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik Kelas X SMKN-1 Pandih Batu yang berjumlah 15 orang. Objek penelitian untuk meningkatkan keterampilan passing bawah bolavoli dengan menggunakan model Project Based Learning (PjBL). Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Instrumen tes ujuk kerja keterampilan passing bawah. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis kuantitatif dan kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil. Berdasarkan analisis data menunjukkan hasil pembelajaran passing bawah bolavoli menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keterampilan passing bawah bolavoli. Hal ini ditunjukkan pada siklus I hanya 9 orang atau 60% peserta didik yang tuntas dan 6 orang atau 40% peserta diddik yang tidak tuntas selanjutnya pada siklus II terdapat peningkatan dari 15 orang peserta didik 11 orang atau 73% peserta didik yang tuntas dan 4 orang atau 27% peserta didik yang tidak tuntas. Kesimpulan. Capaian hasil belajar keterampilan passing bawah bolavoli terlihat peningkatan dari siklus I dan siklus II dengan menggunakan model Pembelajaran passing bawah bolavoli meningkat secara keseluruhan.

The purpose of this study was to introduce the game of small ball to elementary school students specifically in table tennis with a modification of the tool in the form of a table size that fits the body of elementary school children. This research method is development (Research and Development). The population of the research is sixth grade students at State Elementary Schools in Patumbak District, Deli Serdang Regency. The validation results of the expert questionnaire assessment were declared valid and usable with the percentage of media experts obtained at 83% in the valid category. Meanwhile, the percentage value from the meter expert was obtained at 80% in the valid category. Results of the questionnaire instrument assessment given to students during initial testingIt is known that the score obtained was 82% which was in the 80%-100% interval in the valid category. Results of the questionnaire instrument assessment given to students at the time large scale trialsIt is known that the score obtained was 83% which is in the 80%-100% valid category interval.So it can be said that teaching media products based on tool modification in table tennis games meet the criteria or are suitable for use by elementary school students as learning media. Conclusion, 1.The ideal size for mini table tennis has been created for class VI students at State Elementary Schools in Patumbak District. 2. Mini table tennis can be used by teachers and students in the physical education learning process in elementary schools.
