Modern technology is necessary and important for improving the quality of education. While machine learning algorithms to support students remain limited. Thus, it is necessary to inspire educational scholars and educational technologists. This research therefore has three main targets: to educate the holistic context of rural education management, to study the relationship of continuing education at the upper secondary level, and to construct an appropriate education program prediction model for high school students in a rural school. The data for research is the academic achievement data of 1,859 students from Manchasuksa School at Mancha Khiri District, Khon Kaen Province, Thailand, during the academic year 2015-2020. Research tools are separated into 2 sections. The first section is a basic statistical analysis step, it composes of frequency analysis, percentage analysis, mean analysis, and standard deviation analysis. Another section is the data mining analysis phase, which consists of discretization technique, XGBoost classification technique (Decision Tree, Gradient Boosted Trees, and Random Forest), confusion matrix performance analysis, and cross-validation performance analysis. At the end, the research results found that the reasonable distribution level of student achievement consisted of four clusters classified by academic achievement. All four clusters were modeled on predicting academic achievement for the next generation of students. In addition, there are four success models in this research. For future research, the researcher aims to develop an application to facilitate instruction for learners by integrating prediction models into the mobile application to promote the utilization of modern technology. - Abstract
This study explores the teaching and learning challenges experienced by teachers working in selected rural secondary schools in South Africa. The quantitative research approach was adopted for the study. The Purposive and random sampling procedures were used respectively to select the schools and a sample of 120 teachers across ten secondary schools. Questionnaires were administered to all randomly-selected 120 teachers, though only 98 duly completed the questionnaires. The collected data were analysed using frequency distribution. The finding of the study shows that teachers in rural-based secondary schools in South Africa are negatively affected by the adopted curriculum, student-teacher ratio, and lack of textbooks, among others. In contrast to its decentralized political economy model of the 1980s, China took a surprising turn towards recentralization in the mid-1990s. Its fiscal centralization, starting with the 1994 tax reforms, is well known, but political recentralization also has been under way to control cadres directly at township and village levels. Little-noticed measures designed to tighten administrative and fiscal regulation began to be implemented during approximately the same period in the mid-1990s. Over time these measures have succeeded in hollowing out the power of village and township cadres. The increasing reach of the central state is the direct result of explicit state policies that have taken power over economic resources that were once under the control of village and township cadres. This article examines the broad shift towards recentralization by examining the fiscal and political consequences of these policies at the village and township levels. Evidence for this shift comes from new survey data on village-level investments, administrative regulation and fiscal oversight, as well as township-level fiscal revenues, expenditures, transfers (between counties and townships) and public-goods investments. - Abstract
Rural revitalization to promote sustainable rural development is a key strategy promoted by the Communist Party of China. We conducted a comprehensive policy analysis to explore the development of sustainable rural education for promoting rural revitalization in China. Integrity, openness, and endogeneity are critical in the development of sustainable rural education. We investigated the formulation and implementation of sustainable development policies supporting rural education in China through an in-depth analysis of the rural education policy circle (policy design, content, and implementation) and administered a survey among rural education administrators and teachers to elicit their perspectives. Education personnel employed in rural areas within 10 provinces, including school and education administrators, teaching staff and researchers, and teachers (in kindergartens, primary schools, and middle schools) were recruited for the study. A total of 741 questionnaires were sent out and returned (a recovery rate of 100%). Our findings indicated that the policy design was unreasonable, and its focus on rural-based care was inadequate. Moreover, integration and symbiosis of policy content was lacking, and the governance system was also inadequate, leading to poor policy implementation associated with insufficient support of teacher resources. In addition to addressing the above issues, we suggest that the policy should have a rural orientation to enhance integration and symbiosis, with a focus on building and consolidating the ranks of rural teachers. - Abstract
Drawing on modernisation theory, this book charts the history and development of China's rural education while examining the changes in rural teacher training and recruitment since the beginning of the twentieth century.Highlighting the changes in the composition of the body of rural teachers after modern schools were established in rural areas in China, the author outlines and discusses several historical phases that figure in the transformation of the teaching profession, including traditional private homeschooling teachers (sishu teachers), the earliest group of teachers of new-style schools, non-government teachers, teachers trained in normal schools and substitute teachers.Based on field studies in a county in northern China, the book analyses various contributing factors in rural teacher resourcing, ranging from China's modernisation and urbanisation, the county's social and economic development, management systems of rural schools and teachers, and teacher training and recruiting mechanisms. It also introduces the temporary solutions and long-term plans that have been adopted and implemented in different historical periods to regenerate the rural teaching force. The title will be a useful reference for scholars, students, and policymakers interested in modern and contemporary education in China, rural teachers, and rural education.

Since China's reform and opening-up in 1978, Zhejiang province has been one of the country's forerunners in economic, social and political transformation. This book focuses on Zhejiang's rural development and rural governance innovation over the past few decades. The provincial government has formulated favorable policies to facilitate the development of Zhejiang's rural areas since 1978. Zhejiang's farmers, endowed with the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, have created a rural development model with farmers as the center of marketization, industrialization and urbanization. This book provides systematic analysis of the reform and development in Zhejiang's rural area as a case study of China's reform and opening-up. It offers some of the best economic and governance practices developed over the past few decades in China's rural areas. It also provides invaluable insights into the future development of China's rural areas.

- Abstract
A comprehensive study on the importance of ICT in rural education There are many challenges faced in effective Information and Communication Technology (ICT) implementation for rural development. This book contains policy recommendations to help drive and stimulate innovation and creativity through ICT use and reduce the digital divide and social exclusion in rural areas. The cases included in this book typically represent the ICT educational applications in China and developing countries and examine how current policies can support the overall development progress. It is expected to share good practices and to focus on spreading them better among three targeted groups of people: young people in rural areas, teachers at rural primary and high schools, and'left-behind'rural women. This book is a research result of the program'The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Education for Rural Development (iERD)'that was initiated in 2012 by the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (INRULED) along with its three other partners—UNESCO Sector Policy Advice (UNESCO-PAD) and ICT in Education, International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA), and Beijing Normal University-R&D Centre for Knowledge Engineering (BNU-KSEI).

- Abstract
For the first time, American Indian leadership theory is connected with practice. Featuring 24 perspectives, this book provides the most comprehensive look at contemporary American Indian leadership ever published. This book is written primarily for those young leaders who are beginning careers where they work with Indian tribes and organizations. Each of the stories found in the book represent significant challenges and barriers, along with the reflections of having lived these experiences to become a stronger leader. This book can help younger leaders avoid the mistakes of the past and will help them develop the skills that will sustain them. The book is organized around four styles of leadership found in American Indian society. It presents a graphic model of leadership style and then provides examples of each specific type of leadership through stories from recognized leaders in various professions. Because one precept of tribal communities is that elders are responsible for teaching the next generation, the stories are presented in a narrative style. The stories themselves reflect comprehensive assessments of historical pivot points for tribal sovereignty in this country.

- Abstract
This book addresses two main questions, namely how to prepare high-quality teachers in the 21st century and how the East and the West can learn from each other. It addresses the different challenges and dilemmas that eastern countries, especially China, and western countries are facing with regard to teacher education. We explore the question by examining teacher education research, practice and policy in different countries, identifying both common problems and country-specific challenges. We then try to find valuable experiences, theories and practice which can solve specific problems in the process of teacher education, also addressing how local and global factors impact it.In this regard, our approach does not strictly separate pre-service teacher education from teachers'in-service professional development, adopting an integrative perspective. Further, we believe the respective social and cultural contexts must also be taken into account. Lastly, we call for teachers'knowledge and individual character traits to be accounted for in the education of high-quality teachers.

- Abstract
This book examines China's response to the Asian financial crisis of 1997, both in its immediate aftermath and in the years since. The crisis caused turmoil throughout Asia's economies, and precipitated wholesale reform of economic and financial policies and institutions across the region. As one of Asia's largest economies, China responded to the crisis more successfully than many others, avoiding devaluation of its currency, whilst undertaking financial reform, restructuring state-owned enterprises, rural development, and social security systems. This book considers all of these issues, showing how the lessons drawn from the crisis have helped shape China's policies of liberalisation and market-orientated reform, including its attitude towards globalisation and the outside world in general. Based on research conducted by the China Development Research Foundation, one of China's leading think-tanks, this book includes contributions from senior policy makers in the Chinese government and some experts participating directly in the government's policy-making process to assess the effects generated by the country's related policies, making it an indispensable account of China's own thinking on its response to the financial crisis.

- Abstract
With a population of now over 1.3 billion people, any change in China's social environment is bound to have dramatic impact. The China Society Yearbook (2006) provides analysis of and commentary on social issues in contemporary China, broken down into chapters on different aspects of China's social development, including change in social structure, population growth, employment, standard of living and education. The Yearbook provides detailed insight into the vast changes in Chinese society since the foundation of the People's Republic of China and the Mao period, the effects of the country's ongoing reform and liberalization process on its social makeup, the main aims of the 11th Five-Year Plan, and the daunting problems that China's economic and social planners face as their country's economy adapts to a free market system, while raising the standard of living and generating employment for its burgeoning work force. Also included are in-depth comparisons of the country's different social groups, including its 120 million migrant workers, as well as descriptions of social development in different areas of China's vast hinterland, where economic development varies greatly from that of the economically and socially upwardly-mobile coastal crescent. Compiled and edited by top sociologists of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), this collection of current research and analysis represents some of the most pioneering and influential articles by social science scholars in the People's Republic of China.
