Background/Aim. Population aging and the increase in the prevalence of chronic diseases led to a rise in the number of people who live with more than one disease. The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence and predictors of multimorbidity in the working-age population (WAP) of Serbia. Methods. The study is part of “The 2019 Serbian National Health Survey”, a c ross-sectional study conducted on a representative stratified two-stage sample. For this paper, a representative data sample for 9,473 persons of the WAP (aged 15–64 years) was used. Multimorbidity was defined as the co-occurrence of two or more of 13 chronic conditions. Data on chronic conditions were self-reported, and data on body mass and body height were measured. Multivariable logistic regression was used to assess predictors of multimorbidity. Results. Multimorbidity prevalence among WAP was 12.0%, and it was significantly higher among women (13.3%) than in men (10.6%). The predictors of multimorbidity were: female gender, increasing age, lower level of education, lower income, unemployment, retirement, widowhood, and divorce. Being overweight and obese were associated with higher odds of multimorbidity in both men and women. Conclusion. Multimorbidity is an important public health problem amongst WAP in Serbia due to its high prevalence, especially among vulnerable groups, and its inequality in frequency among different socioeconomic groups.

- Abstract
Climate change has been recognized as an important issue in public health, with particular concerns being raised about the effects of heat and cold extremes on health, and about seasonal changes over the year and their associations with increased mortality and hospitalizations. This paper explored the relationship between physiological equivalent temperature (PET) and cardiovascular and respiratory hospital admissions in Novi Sad (Serbia) with the aim of assessing the impact of urban outdoor thermal conditions on health. Analysis was performed using daily data on cardiovascular and respiratory hospital admissions by gender covering the period from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2017. For the same period, PET was calculated using data from two urban meteorological network stations. The association between PET and hospital admissions was examined using a generalized additive model (GAM) combined with a distributed lag non-linear model (DLNM). The study found a non-linear relationship between PET and cardiovascular and respiratory hospital admissions, with a larger impact during the cold period of the year. The findings also indicated that under conditions of high PET, the cumulative RR increased for cardiovascular admissions (for males) and respiratory admissions (for females). People with pre-existing respiratory diseases were found to be more vulnerable under conditions of extremely low and moderately low PET, with a greater effect at lag 0–14 days. By contrast, for people with cardiovascular diseases, low PET was linked to a decrease in hospital admissions, with the risk being lowest at lag 0 and 0–3 days.

- Abstract
Police organizations worldwide have introduced various organizational and operational changes to cope with the demands placed on them by the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic as effectively as possible. The intensification in the use of digital communication channels is one of those adaptations that enabled the functioning of the police at the organizational level, but simultaneously were a source of stress for police officers. In addition, this adaptation of police communication channels could be complex in rural and suburban parts of Croatia due to relatively high proportions of the elderly population and unequal availability of internet connections. This article aims to determine how the use of digital communication channels and in-person police communication during the COVID-19 pandemic affected how the police coped with this crisis on an organizational and personal level in suburban and rural communities. Quantitative research using a voluntary and anonymous survey method was conducted on a convenient sample of 367 police officers from two police administrations in Croatia covering predominantly suburban and rural areas. The results of the Jonckheere-Terpstra trend test and the non-parametric (Spearman) correlation test showed that police officers who estimated that they worked more on community policing activities and problem-solving in direct contact with citizens estimated that they better coped with the COVID-19 pandemic on a personal level, while police officers who estimated that they used digital communication channels more perceived that they better coped with the COVID-19 pandemic on an organizational level.

Background/Aim. Regular check-ups with a dentist are an important component of general oral hygiene habits. In addition to regular visits to a dentist, this includes the ongoing knowledge upgrade in the field of oral health as well as the application of preventive measures recommended by the selected dentist. The aim of this study was to determine the link between dental visits and independent sociodemographic factors and smoking in the adult population in Serbia. Methods. This cross-sectional study represents an analysis of 2013 National Health Survey for the population of Serbia (without the data on Kosovo and Metohija population). The study included 13,404 adults of 20 years of age and older. The mean age of participants was 51.7 years, including 7,221 (53.9%) females and 6,183 (46.1%) males. In order to determine possible predictors of a dental visit, a multivariate logistic regression model was implemented. A visit to a dentist was a dependent variable, while the independent variables were: sex, age, marital status, type of settlement, region, education, employment status, Wealth Index and smoking status. Results. Significant differences were observed between categories of dental visit and all independent variables except marital and smoking status. In the multivariate model, the odds of visiting a dentist in the period “12 months or longer” vs. “in the last 6 months” were the highest among older respondents [odds ratio (OR) = 1.03; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.02–1.04], from a rural area (OR = 1.17; 95% CI = 1.03–1.32), with a low (OR = 2.55; 95% CI = 2.12–3.07) and middle education level (OR = 1.76; 95% CI=1.54–2.00), the unemployed (OR=1.20; 95% CI = 1.06– 1.37), those who belong to poorer (OR = 1.30; 95% CI = 1.08–1.54) or the poorest class (OR = 1.71; 95% CI = 1.38– 2.12) and smokers (OR = 1.13; 95% CI = 1.01–1.26). Conclusion. The study demonstrated that sociodemographic factors and smoking are important factors related to a visit to a dentist. This study can help to advance regular visits to a dentist and programs of health education focusing on oral health and smoking cessation as well.

This qualitative study aims to determine which digital communication channels and for what purposes were used by police in rural and suburban parts of Croatia during the COVID-19 pandemic and the obstacles they encountered in doing so. The purpose of the research is a scientific contribution to communication and police sciences, given the lack of such research not only in Croatia but internationally. The practical purpose is the identification of possibilities and limitations of digital communication in policing and aspects of police communication that are important during crises. The semi-structured interview was used in four focus groups of 10 research participants. The results show that during the COVID-19 pandemic, at the request of citizens, police officers often resorted to communication via social media, even though such a method of police communication was not defined as official at the time and despite other serious obstacles such as insufficient technological infrastructure and lack of access to the Internet. The need to create precise work guidelines was identified to avoid problems and prevent citizens’ resistance towards introducing such novelties. This research also points to establishing guidelines and communication protocols between public services to avoid confusion and misinformation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hot summers with several intensive heat waves lead to strong heat-related mortality in Central and Southeast European cities. Therefore, the aim of the study was to evaluate association between maximum temperature and mortality during the summer period in 2015 and to contribute to the future long-term assessment of heat-related mortality in urban population. The daily number of deaths of all causes and cause-specific mortality for the population of Novi Sad were used, as well as hourly air temperature data from the Novi Sad urban network (NSUNET) system. Four heat waves were detected using the Huth and Kysely methods. Three heat wave periods lasted longer than ten days. In July and August, 45% of days had a maximum temperature above 30 ºC, and more than 70% of days had a maximum temperature above 25 ºC. The average number of deaths was higher during the heat wave days. Significant association was found between Tmax and all-cause, cardiorespiratory, non-cardiorespiratory in total population, all-cause and cardiorespiratory mortality in the age group 65 and over. This study demonstrates a high magnitude of relation between mortality and temperature. Finally, the results show that population in urban areas is highly vulnerable during heat waves.

Učestale izmjene kaznenog zakonodavstva u cilju usklađivanja nacionalnih kaznenih postupaka država članica EU-a nisu mimoišle ni maloljetničko kazneno zakonodavstvo. U zaključku se iznose prijedlozi za rješenje uočenih nedostataka u primjeni navedenih prava u praksi., The frequent changes in criminal legislation aimed at harmonising the national criminal procedures of EU Member States also have an impact on juvenile criminal law. The latest amendment to the Juvenile Justice Act was made in 2019 due to the implementation of Directive 2016/800 on procedural safeguards for children who are suspects or accused persons in criminal proceedings. Although the provisions of the Directive have been successfully transposed into the Juvenile Courts Act, problems have been observed in practice in the application of certain provisions of the law. Therefore, this paper analyses individual rights from the Directive (the right to inform parents and guardians of procedural rights, the right to be accompanied by parents or guardians or other appropriate persons, and the right to individual assessment) where there is evidence of inconsistencies in their application and in their implementation in the practice of courts and competent authorities that participate in proceedings against minors. The aim of the paper is to explain relevant legal provisions from the JCA and the Directive regarding these rights and to analyse how they are being implemented in everyday practice in the courts and what problems arise in their application. For this purpose, the authors tackle each of the above-mentioned rights by analysing relevant legal provisions and their compliance with the requirements of the Directive and provide an overview of the implementation of these rights in practice and the problems detected through the results of the conducted research. In the conclusion, the authors present proposals for the observed shortcomings in the application of the mentioned rights in practice.

Risk refers to the probability that an adverse event will occur during the life cycle of the project. Risk management is the practice of dealing with risk. It includes risk management planning, risk identification, risk analysis, risk response planning and risk monitoring and control. Risk analysis is the basis of risk management and is very important for understanding the most uncertain risks of a project. It is actually a systematic procedure for assessing the level of risk for identified and approved risks, and it includes the assessment of the probability of occurrence and the consequences of occurrence and converting the results into an appropriate level of risk. In addition to individual risk events, it is necessary to analyze the level of overall project risk. How the risk analysis will be performed depends on the values of the risk event, i.e. whether these values can be described descriptively or numerically. Accordingly, risk analysis can be divided into numerical and descriptive methods, that is, into quantitative and qualitative methods. Qualitative risk analysis defines risk priorities and the conditions for their occurrence by analyzing the probability of their occurrence and impact. Quantitative risk analysis is a numerical analysis of the impact of recognized risks on project objectives. The most common approach to project risk management is the management of individual risks that are recorded and assessed in the project risk register. In addition to this approach, there are also alternative approaches, namely a multi-phase top-down process, quantitative risk-based forecasting, and a risk register. Each of these approaches has certain advantages in different phases of the project, and therefore the best results can be achieved by combining them. Based on the analysis of the two described large construction projects, we came to the conclusion that, regardless of previous experience, it is necessary to analyze in detail and continuously monitor the risks on the project. We also conclude that the appropriate qualities of a project manager, the application of good project practices and open communication represent the basis for successful analysis and approach to project risk management.

Background/Aim. Obesity is a complex and multifactorial condition related to morbidity, mortality, poor quality of life and many other problems. The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of overweight and obesity and factors associated with them (demographic, socioeconomic factors and lifestyle) in adults aged 50 years and above in Serbia. Methods. This cross-sectional study, representative for the population in Serbia, was carried out in one-year period, including 6,932 people aged 50 and over. Individuals were interviewed and anthropometrically examined. The association between overweight and obesity with demographic, socioeconomic and behavioral factors was analyzed using multivariate logistic regression. Results. Age, level of education and smoking were significantly associated with overweight and obesity, regardless of gender. Marital status was significantly associated with obesity, regardless of gender and with overweight only in women. Breakfast consumption habit was significantly associated with obesity only in men. There was no significant association of overweight and obesity with the type of settlement, alcohol consumption and physical activity, regardless of gender. Conclusion. The results of our study indicate the need for more intensive implementation of measures affecting the factors which contribute to overweight and obesity. Emphasis should be put on the population-based policies and programs that support environmental changes.

- Abstract
Conditional deferral of (and withdrawal from) criminal prosecution is a consensual institution of criminal justice regulated by the provision of Art. 206.d of the Croatian Criminal Procedure Act that can be applied in cases of a minor crime (one for which a fi ne or a prison sentence of up to 5 years is prescribed). This institution was implemented more than 20 years ago into the Croatian criminal procedure but is very rarely used in practice. In order to identify possible reasons for this, the authors have conducted, after a comparative legal analysis, empirical research in two phases: the first phase comprised 60 semi-structured interviews with practitioners followed by discussions in four focus groups. The goal of the empirical research was to discover the practitioners’ experiences with the application of the institution in practice. The paper presents the results of the conducted research divided into five issues that have been established as the key elements in the application of this institution: the lack of clear legal guidelines, the scope of application, the lack of judicial control, defendants’ rights, and the position of the victim.

- Abstract
Communication via digital communication channels has been present in police work for a long time. In the period between 2010 and 2014, the European Commission financed a scientific research project to understand organizational changes in the police in different European countries, including changes related to the introduction of new information and communication technologies into police practice. That research showed that the police use social media to detect crimes and their perpetrators and establish quality relations with citizens and the community. As a follow-up to that study, this qualitative research aims to identify the possibilities and obstacles of police digital communication with citizens and the community to achieve a relationship of cooperation and trust between the police and the community. Four focus groups were conducted in two police administrations in eastern Croatia. The research was conducted on a sample of 40 participants, mostly officers of the regular police, including community policing officers, and the rest are criminal police officers dealing with general criminal matters. The obtained results show, just like the results of numerous foreign studies, that such an approach can be effective in providing transparency of police work and increasing trust between the police and citizens, but with adaptation of the selection of channels and content of communication to the target audience.

- Abstract
U zaključku su rezimirani rezultati istraživanja te se uputilo na određene konceptualne manjkavosti hrvatskog kaznenog procesnog zakonodavstva i prakse., In Croatian criminal procedure law, there is a number of consensual forms of proceedings, including the provisions of Article 417.a paragraphs 6 and 7 of the Criminal Procedure Act, which limit the sentencing powers of the court if the defendant agrees to the sanction proposed by the state attorney. In order to determine how these provisions are understood and applied by legal practitioners, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 judges, 20 state attorneys and 20 criminal defence attorneys from the four largest Croatian cities. The interviews showed that the aforementioned provisions are extensively understood and that they serve as a pretext for various forms of informal negotiations between all of the three categories of participating legal professionals. In order to interpret the results more accurately, the initial part of the paper provided some theoretical considerations about informal plea bargaining from the aspect of the fundamental principles of Croatian criminal procedure. In that chapter, the viewpoints of the authors are elaborated as regards the forms of informal plea bargaining, and the conditions under which it could be deemed legally permissible. In the conclusion, the results of the research are summarized and certain conceptual shortcomings of the Croatian regulation and common legal practice are pointed out.

Background/Aim. The World Health Organization (WHO) identified four broad domains as being universally relevant to the quality of life, namely physical, and psychological health, social relationships, and environment. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between sociodemographic characteristics and quality of life of old people. Methods. The World Health Organization Quality of Life BREF questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF) was used to assess quality of life on a random sample of 200 people aged 60 years and over who lived in the Retirement Home in Novi Sad. Items within the questionnaire were organized into four domains: physical, psychological, social relationships and environment. Results. The majority of the participants were women (69.8%). The mean age was 79.2 years (SD = 6.6 years). Most of them were widowed (73.4%). More than two thirds of participants (68.8%) reported that they were ill at that moment and almost half of them (48.8%) had cardiovascular, 18.5% musculoskeletal, 9.6% endocrine and 5.9% neurological disease. In the social relations domain scores were lower in males (t = 2.4; p = 0.017). Scores of other domains did not differ significantly with regard to the age, educational level and the marital status of the participants. Participants who reported the presence of a disease had significantly lower mean scores of physical, psychological and environment domain. Conclusion. The presence of disease is a relevant factor for quality of life, whereas age, education and marital status do not reflect on physical health, psychological and environmental domain of quality of life.

International audience; Product labeling is a way to inform consumers and increase their awareness about sustainability attributes of products. It guarantees the use of specific production conditions, promotes market incentives and highlights environmental, social and/or ethical product attributes. This study provides a literature review of sustainability labels on olive oil including consumer attitudes and behavior towards this product. Results show that consumers have positive attitudes towards olive oil carrying sustainability labels and are willing to pay more for olive oil carrying those labels. However, the major drivers of this behavior are far from being related to sustainability. This insight jeopardizes the main objective of those labels and suggests more clarifications about the information delivered by them. More in-depth investigations are needed about the drivers of consumer behavior towards olive oil carrying sustainability labels.

The point of the research paper is to show and explain two specifications within a company. First one being the accounting of a company's production and distribution of medical, dental and orthopedic products on a practical example. Second specification focuses on analyzing the business documentation and crediting procedures for specific business occurrences of production, repairs and sales of the previously mentioned products, operating expenses etc. In the first part of the paper, the regulatory framework of the firm's accounting in the production and trade of medical, dental and orthopedic products is discussed. That includes "The accounting law", financial reporting standards, the Croatian tax system, "The law on electronic commerce" and the legislation on the production and trade of medical, dental and orthopedic products. The second part of the paper indicates the basic data of the observed company. Moving further into the paper are examples of documentation from internal and publicly available sources, such as incoming and outgoing account examples, posting logs, depreciation calculations, profit and loss accounts, balance sheets (RGFI) and income tax returns. In the end of the paper a conclusion is formed based on the processed literature and the main conclusion is that the company's accounting differs from other accounting systems.

International audience; Considering the large amounts of harmful waste produced in the Mediterranean olive sector, entrepreneurial initiatives creating value from olive waste and by-products via circular bio-economy approaches are reviewed. These circular business models aim to enhance the functionality use of olive trees beyond traditional patterns for value creation. The study focuses on business drivers and value creation mechanisms, and specifically on conversion pathways of olive waste towards new value propositions. In total, 41 cases are analyzed mainly according to the Business Model Canvas components with NVivo, based on data gathered from an extensive online search mainly of company websites and reports, online articles, research project reports, professional websites, and newsletters. Results indicate that some innovative businesses have emerged specializing in the domain of olive waste valorization, driven by environmental concerns and mainly focusing on bioenergy production. However, the overall olive biomass potential yet seems to be under-valorized. A more radical and systemic change will be needed for effective implementation of circular business models contributing to sustainable development in the Mediterranean olive sector, with adequate subsidies, common regulations, more collective actions for creating economies of scale, and marketing strategies to increase consumer awareness for bio-based products.

U istraživanju je dokazana značajna povezanost između sigurne privrženosti i emocionalne kompetentnosti, pa je moguće zaključiti kako je sigurna privrženost važna za razvoj emocionalnih kompetencija tijekom djetinjstva i adolescencije., The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between the development of the secure attachment in early childhood and its role in the development of emotional competence in older adolescents. The study involved 122 participants, of which are 90 women (74.38%), and 31 men (25.62%), one participant did not gave the information on gender. The average age of the participants was 25.05 years ranging from 18 to 41 years. The following questionnaires were used in the research: Personal Welfare Index, Emotional Competence Questionnaire and Inventory of Experiences in Close Relationships. The results showed that out of 122 participants, 113 and 91% of them belong to the group of securely attached, while N = 11, 9% belong to the group of insecurely attached, which automatically resulted in a higher score on the scale of personal well-being of participants. Research has shown that there is a significant association between the development of attachment and emotional competence, in other words individuals who developed a safe form of attachment in the early childhood, in adolescence will have a higher level of emotional competence.
