Josephson junction circuits, such as superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) and single-flux-quantum (SFQ) circuits, have been successfully applied in both analog and digital electronic domains. They are considered to be distinct from the normal resistor-inductor-capacitor (RLC) circuits, due to the superconducting physics. To bridge the gap between Josephson junction circuits and conventional RLC circuits, we introduce a magnetic-flux-generator (MFG) model to unify the definitions of Josephson junctions and normal noninductive components, and transform their circuits uniformly into MFG networks. A general network equation for both superconducting and normal MFG networks is derived. It shows that, Josephson junction circuits are the superconducting RLC networks modulated by Josephson currents; their analysis and simulation are unified with that of the normal RLC circuits by solving the general network equation., Comment: 7 pages, 13 figures

The dynamic iteration method with a restricted additive Schwarz splitting is investigated to co-simulate linear differential algebraic equations system coming from RLC electrical circuit with linear components. We show the pure linear convergence or divergence of the method with respect to the linear operator belonging to the restricted additive Schwarz interface. It allows us to accelerate it toward the true solution with the Aitken's technique for accelerating convergence. This provides a dynamic iteration method less sensitive to the splitting. Numerical examples with convergent and divergent splitting show the efficiency of the proposed approach. We also test it on a linear RLC circuit combining different types of circuit modeling (Transient Stability model and Electro-Magnetic Transient model) with overlapping partitions. The circuit-theoretic origins of maximal monotonicity are revisited using modern optimization algorithms for maximal monotone operators. We present an algorithm for computing the periodic behavior of an interconnection of maximal monotone systems using a fixed point iteration. The fixed point iteration may be split according to the interconnection structure of the system. We consider distributed optimization with smooth convex objective functions defined on an undirected connected graph. Inspired by mirror descent mehod and RLC circuits, we propose a novel distributed mirror descent method. Compared with mirror-prox method, our algorithm achieves the same \(\mathcal{O}(1/k)\) iteration complexity with only half the computation cost per iteration. We further extend our results to cases where a) gradients are corrupted by stochastic noise, and b) objective function is composed of both smooth and non-smooth terms. We demonstrate our theoretical results via numerical experiments.

In some recent papers several authors used electronic circuits to construct loss and gain systems. This is particularly interesting in the context of PT-quantum mechanics, where this kind of effects appears quite naturally. The electronic circuits used so far are simple, but not so much. Surprisingly enough, a rather trivial RLC circuit can be analyzed with the same perspective and it produces a variety of unexpected results, both from a mathematical and on a physical side. In this paper we show that this circuit produces two biorthogonal bases associated to the Liouville matrix $\Lc$ used in the treatment of its dynamics, with a biorthogonality which is linked to the value of the parameters of the circuit. We also show that the related loss RLC circuit is naturally associated to a gain RLC circuit, and that the relation between the two is rather naturally encoded in $\Lc$. We propose a pseudo-fermionic analysis of the circuit, and we introduce the notion of $m$-equivalence between electronic circuits.

We study and formulate the Lagrangian for the LC, RC, RL, and RLC circuits by using the analogy concept with the mechanical problem in classical mechanics formulations. We found that the Lagrangian for the LC and RLC circuits are governed by two terms i. e. kinetic energy-like and potential energy-like terms. The linear susceptibility of an atomic sample is formally equivalent to the response of a RLC circuit. We use a ladder of lumped RLC circuits to observe an analogue of slow-light, a well-known phenomenon in atomic physics. We first characterize the radio-frequency response of the circuit in the spectral domain exhibiting a transparency window surrounded by two strongly absorptive lines. We then observe a delayed pulse whose group delay is comparable to the pulse duration corresponding to slow-light propagation. The large group delay is obtained by cascading in a ladder configuration doubly resonant RLC cells.

The analysis of RLC circuits is usually made by considering phasor transforms of sinusoidal signals (characterized by constant amplitude, period and phase) that allow the calculation of the AC steady state of RLC circuits by solving simple algebraic equations. In this paper I try to show that phasor representation of RLC circuits is analogue to consider the frequency response function (commonly designated by FRF) of the total impedance of the circuit. In this way I derive accurate expressions for the resonance and anti-resonance frequencies and their corresponding values of impedances of the parallel and series RLC circuits respectively, notwithstanding the presence of damping effects.

Single and double electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in a medium, consisting of four-level atoms in the inverted-Y configuration, are discussed using mechanical and electrical analogies. A three coupled spring-mass system subject to damping and driven by an external force is used to represent the four-level atom mechanically. The equations of motion of this system are solved analytically, which revealed single and double EIT. On the other hand, three coupled RLC circuits are used, as the electrical analog, to explore and experimentally demonstrate single and double EIT. The simplicity of these two models makes this experiment appropriate for undergraduate students and easy to incorporate into a college physics laboratory., Comment: REVTeX, 10 pages, 10 figures. In a recent article, we have advanced a semiclassical theory of quantum circuits with discrete charge and electrical resistance. In this work, we present a few elementary applications of this theory. For the zero resistance, inductive circuit, we obtain the Stark ladder energies in yet another way; and generalize earlier results by Chandia et. al, for the circuit driven by a combination d.c. plus a.c. electromotive force (emf). As a second application, we investigate the effect of electrical resistance, together with charge discreteness, in the current amplitude, and resonance conditions of a general $RLC$ quantum circuit, including nonlinear effects up to third order on the external sinusoidal emf.
